3 of us went for a post work dinner. The others have been before and this was my first time. Our waiter gave the history behind the restaurant and points about the menu. Absolute top notch service. We ordered 2 appetizers -- crab tower and the ravioli. Very different flavors...but both very good...we cleaned the plate. For dinner we each had steaks. I had the ribeye cooked rare. I am picky about my steaks...at other places it comes medium and when sent back comes back blue. This steak was cooked perfect...this is what it should be. Also...great flavor. We shared some sides...spinach, lobster mac n cheese, potatoes o gratin. The table liked all 3...I think the potatoes were the best of the 3. The atmosphere was great. It was good for the three of us to talk. They had large tables and solo eaters in the dinning area. I would highly recommend this place.

My go-to birthday spot! I've never had a bad meal. I think Ruth's Chris is a notch above the other steak houses in the price range/area. The chefs deal that come with salad, steak, side and dessert cannot be beat! I always go with the filet. This time I had Apple Gorgonzola salad and carrots. Delicious. The dessert was a chocolate caramel cheesecake, and DUH it was amazing. And since it was my birthday, I added a lobster tail. Perfect. The service is always spot on, too. If you need a date night, anniversary, birthday, or just a good meal go here!

Had an amazing dinner tonight with the love of my life! Made even more amazing by our server, Heather. She's really a terrific server and a lovely lady. And the food was incredible. Loved the veal ravioli and the stuffed chicken was life changing. Definitely the spot to go for a romantic evening.

Came here on Labor Day, we are usually regulars at ocean prime however they were closed for the holiday and decided on Ruth's Chris and we were not disappointed! We sat at the bar and Chris was our bartender, phenomenal service! We ordered the crab cake stuffed mushrooms, The Filet with complimentary béarnaise sauce and I think my boyfriend ordered the Filet Oscar-style, everything was fantastic. Chris was very personable, my boyfriend loves champaign and Chris insisted we try the pink champaign(I can't remember the name) as it made for a perfect dessert champaign and would go well with the chocolate cake he ordered which was delicious, and the cream brulee was bar far the best I've ever had! Over all great experience we will most definitely be back!

First off if you have ever felt that this restaurant is too high class for you let me ease your fears. Although the décor is magnificent, the staff is beautifully dressed, and the food looks like some thing Rembrandt painted, Ruth's Chris is actually very inviting. My family and I went there to celebrate my (early) birthday. As soon as the server heard this he jovially sprinkled birthday confetti on our table. His theatrical hijinks put all of us at ease, especially my five year old daughter, which was very important to me. We ordered seared tuna (not in my pics), which was the best tuna that I have ever tasted in my life. After the appetizer, while we waited for our meal, we were gifted by the sounds of beautiful renditions of popular songs played live by the in-house pianist. Then our food arrived... I got the 16 oz. ribeye which was cooked to perfection and probably the tastiest steak that I had ever eaten. My wife ordered the shrimp and filet; the shrimp were so big they were almost like prawns and the filet looked beautiful. I would love to comment about the taste of shrimp, but my wife devoured them faster than I could work up the nerve to ask for a bite. Her filet was heaven though, so very tender and flavorful. At the end of dinner the server brought (free of charge) a delicious mini cheesecake with chocolate almond bark and "Happy Birthday Michael" which was written in chocolate. Ruth's Chris provided an experience like no other. This has become my go to place for special events.

It's taken my wife and I almost 10 years to forgive Ruth Chris, but I can finally feel secure in telling you that this place is superb. Many years ago we ate there and my wife finished off a very nice with the Creme Brule Dessert. She said it tasted kinda funny, but we did not think anything of it. Soon after she began to feel very ill and eventually spent the night vomiting profusely. We were angry and decided not to go there anymore. A few years later I was taken there for a business dinner and it was excellent. Again I went back for business and it was superb. So after many years I talked my wife into giving them another chance and we are so glad we did. The food here is superb. The bar is outstanding. The overall atmosphere is excellent and the service is good. If you have not tried the steaks cooked in hot butter...I highly recommend it. Even at a fairly steep price, Ruth Chris is worth it. Excellent food and superb overall experience.

This review is based on a pre fix dinner program: I attended a business meeting with around 20 people. The room we were sat in was well appointed and fit our group comfortably. We started off with poured red and white wine. Our servers, Louis and maria, were fantastic. They never missed a beat and the entire evening ran smoothly. Our appetizer was the crab stuffed mushrooms, which were simply divine. For our entree, we had a choice of filet, salmon or chicken. I went with the salmon. My meal came out on a sizzling platter with a sun-dried tomato sauce. It was cooked perfectly and extremely flavorful. I did snag a bite of filet and it too was equally as excellent. Our sides were served family style and consisted of creamed spinach, mushrooms and mashed potatoes. The winner of those was definitely the creamed spinach. For dessert we had the choice of flourless chocolate torte or cheesecake-definitely the cheesecake won! It had a sour cream consistency to it and was large enough for several people to share. All in all, this was a great choice for our meeting and one I will definitely try again.

What a solid dinning experience! Everything was spot-on, from the hostess to the manager. Was it pricey? You bet your lily-white ass it was! Almost 200 smack-a-roos for me and La Chica alone, not to mention my broski and sister-in-law. This is what we ordered: 16 OZ. NY STRIP, SHROOMS and BROCCOLI AU GRATEN for my meal and 4 OZ. FILET & LOBSTER TAIL, CAESER SALAD, SPINACH CASEROLE and CHEESECAKE for La Chica. Now, it's important to note that La Chica's meal included all the items listed at a fixed price. These items are located on the Classics menu. This portion of the menu is without a doubt the way to go. Mine was a la carte, but I seriously needed to compare the NY strip here to the one I recently had at Council Oak. Ruth's Chris is a 16 oz. for $44, while Council Oak is 20 oz. for $55, so the prices are exactly the same. I guess it all depends on how much meat you wanna stuff into your face hole, huh? Ruth's cooked my steak to perfection though. I ordered medium, and it was decidedly medium throughout, from end to end. The seasoning was right on time as well. This was a delicious steak, no doubt. As for the sides, I sampled all from the table, and I wasn't overly impressed with any of them. I mean, they were good, but none exceeded what I could do at home, and trust me folks, I'm no chef. But we don't go here for sides, we go for MEAT, so I was care-free. The presentation for everything was great as well. The staff in the kitchen and our waiters, Ben and Matt, were great. Seriously folks, top-notch. After dinner, I ordered up an Irish Coffee, and it was delightful. Some places tend to make these a bit too strong, but the coffee-to-liquor ratio at Ruth's was flawless. I highly recommend giving it a whirl. Will I return? Perhaps. As good as everything was front the time we walked in to the time we left, I'd have to say that Council Oak beats Ruth's on flavor and price, or bang-for-buck if you will. Next up, a NY strip from Flemmings...

We had a special occasion to celebrate and a good steak was needed to mark the day. Thanks to a generous expense account, I have eaten at the Ruth's Chris in Houston almost weekly for years. I have eaten at this location several times, as well. It has a beautifully clubby posh atmosphere. As we sipped our cocktails, we placed our almost automatic food order. We both started with their reliable Lobster Bisque. Great flavor and temperature. As the years go by though, I have noticed a few less lobster bits are in it. They were nonexistent in my soup. We were, of course, hungry so our next course was salads. I ordered the Ruth's Chris Chop salad and my partner ordered the Harvest Salad. The Chop Salad looks great on the plate but mine was bland and didn't have any really distinct flavor. The Harvest Salad, however was large and delicious. It is a very sweet tasting dish so be prepared for an almost dessert like course. For our main course, we ordered the New York Strip and the larger Ribeye both cooked medium-rare. We decided on the Potatoes Au Gratin and the Asparagus with Hollandaise for sides because we're old school steakhouse boys. To our chagrin, we had to bring attention to the issue of our over cooked steaks to our waiter and the Manager. The Manager agreed that they were clearly not cooked to order and removed everything from our table to have it all re-prepared. So, fast forward twenty minutes and our perfectly cooked steaks swimming in bubbling butter arrived. They were awesome! The Au Grain potatoes were wonderfully cheesy and not to be missed. The Asparagus was perfectly cooked however their hollandaise could use a lot more lemony flavor. We decided to sample their dessert menu. It is very limited and unimaginative. We ordered the Berries and Cream and the Cheesecake with Berries. Both desserts were disappointing. The cream tasted like Sweetened Condensed Milk with nothing added and the cheesecake was dry and inedible. I only had two bites. Even the various berries were dry and juice-less. Sigh. This location is a lot less noisy than the other upscale restaurant choices in the International Mall area. The service was inconsistent. More than once, I did have to flag down our waiter for more cocktails and iced tea. The Management did apologize profusely for our inconvenience, however it may be quite a while before we return.

I've been here 3 times now, once for (full priced) dinner and twice for happy hour cocktails and dinner. I paid less for happy hour and liked it more, BUT, I also had their crab cakes for dinner so it may not be a fair review since it is a steak house and all. My fiancé loved their steak and he's a meat and potatoes kinda guy, we ordered their mashed potatoes and mushrooms as our sides which were both good along with our cocktails which were delicious! For happy hour, my go to is their burger and blueberry mojito, but the Ahi Tuna is fresh and my friends love the steak sandwich.

All around great experience for my son-in-law's birthday. Great service and great food. The seared ahi tuna was some of the best I've ever had! The piano player was a wonderful touch and made for a great atmosphere.

Great atmosphere and terrific service. So why only 3 stars? I ordered the regular size Filet and requested Medium Well done. It arrived very very well done. My daughter ordered the New York Strip. It was huge, probably almost twice the menu stated size. However, her request of Medium arrived definitely Medium Well, bordering on Well Done. Just the slightest hint of any pink at the center. Seasoning and taste of both steaks was average. Wouldn't have been as big a problem, but for a premium price you expect premium quality. This has been mentioned in other reviews, and I should have taken notice. There are better steak houses in Tampa, but if you choose to go the Ruth's Chris, make sure you order your steak less done than you really want it.

I went your on a spontaneous dinner outing after my plans were changed and I was in the area. This was my second time visiting Ruth Chris. If you like a nice tender filet mignon this is the place to go. They are a bit pricey but it is worth it. If you want to dine out to a nice place on a budget then try one of their Ruth's Classic menu items for just under $45 for one selection and under $55 for the other . That's exactly what I got. You will get to make a choice of a starter an entree, a personal side and the Symphony dessert which is a chocolate turtle cheesecake with cranberry pecan chocolate barks. Not too bad of selections to dine in an upscale restaurant that offers a nice ambience.

Easily a 5 star review. The food surpasses all expectations and as far as fining dining is concerned this place has an edge on Charley's and Burn's. Which I am sure are competition in tampa. The steaks are so good you don't want dessert to take the taste out of your mouth. Service is up tight but knowledgeable. I am one to appreciate a sense of humor in fine dining. I would recommend this place above any place in tampa for a date night or work celebration. I have only had the pleasure of dining a few times but look forward to MANY more. I also have worked in fine dining for years and it takes a lot to impress me. I wish I could give 6 stars.

This is an establishment that has fallen apart. After a decent visit to the bar we went to a table. We got prompt bread and wine and then 45 minutes of no drinks no service and two effusive I am sorry I did not know this was my tables. The f ing place is half full. We placed wine orders 3 times with only service from a waiter in a different room who we knew from previous visits finally getting us a drink. The manager came by after we complained with a confrontational "what do you want" series of questions. You know the answer is for you to say you suck and fire yourself. This is not a Ruth's.

If coming here for the steaks alone, you wont be disappointed one bit. This place serves one mean steak. As far as the rest of the food?? it's just ok. I've tried the Spinach cream, Sweet potato casserole, and the bbq shrimp (not so) orleans, among other things I can't quite remember. wonder why?? Just wasn't impressed with any of it. When you consider the amount of cash spent to eat at a fancy restaurant like Ruth's, I guess you expect everything on the menu to match the quality of the steaks. The establishment and the service are top notch, they also make great drinks at the bar. When you put it all together, come for the steaks, the ambiance, and drinks. 3.5 stars.

As always, going to Ruth Chris is always a treat. The restaurant is beautifully decorated and I love the piano player playing relaxing tunes as I enter the place. The dim lights, the soft music, and the aroma of delicious food just hits the spot and I feel the busyness of the day leave as I look forward to a delectable steak dinner. Loved the appetizers- ahi tuna, shrimp and stuffed mushrooms with crabmeat. It had a lovely mixture of flavors, that definitely want you to have more. The iceberg lettuce was fresh and crisp, with a hint of bacon and blue cheese. I just love salads- yummy! I chose the filet, which was properly cooked the way I like it and just the right spices on it. Loved the broccoli side dish, although too cheesy for me. Dessert was the seasonal berries, which were blueberries, raspberries and blackberries in sweet cream. Yummy but too sweet for me. Chris , one of the servers, was very attentive in serving us coffee after dinner. He has been personable and definitely provided impeccable service with a smile. This is a great place to go for a truly fabulous steak dinner.

We had a dinner at Ruth's Chris about a few weeks ago and we were very disappointed. Why? Because one of the beautiful things about Ruth's Chris has always been the consistency with the steak and service. Unfortunately, our server was missing in action most of the time... it took nearly 20 minutes to get water and wine when we arrived. Unacceptable for a party of six when the restaurant was not at capacity. Three steaks out of the six ordered came out cooked at a temperature different than ordered and very tough. Between waiting on service throughout the entire meal, a merely average overall meal experience including the food, and a very expensive dinner, I will choose other options for special occasions going forward. We did inform management and they were apologetic, but this is the second experience within a year, that has been less positive.

It was okay. I will say that the service is fantastic and that's truly the only reason I can see going there. The food however, was definitely nothing fantastic or out of the ordinary and not worth the money by far. If I'm going to spend $145 on a meal for two, I expect to be "wowed." Instead I walked away thinking, "Eh. Could've gone to Fridays."

Food was great- not the issue at all. Went with some friends for happy hour. When I got there everything seemed fine- then it all went downhill. Our male friend arrived and as he ordered drinks, they arrived at the table without delay. I chimed in with each order, "I'll have one of the same." My drinks never came. I had to ask 2-3 times for each drink. My last margarita I asked for was without salt- he asked, "salt?" I clearly stated, "no, thank you." Margarita with salt arrived. I finally asked for a manager. I saw the person I spoke to tell the manager to come speak to me- he never came over to our table. Mind you, there were 2 other small groups in there at this point. Not busy at all. Needless to say, I am never going back. I might be a young woman, but treating our male companion better to the point that he had 3 drinks in front of him at one point while I was still waiting on my second is way too obvious and 1900s. For all our server knew, it could have been me who was footing the whole bill. Welcome to the 21st century. I really wanted to order a steak to go but we never saw him come back around. 2 stars is generous- but the food was good and the piano was entertaining.

So when it comes to service I expect it to be great for a $200 night out. We had a reservation on Sunday at 7ish not too many people in the restaurant considering it was Mother's Day must of had their rush sooner lucky us beautiful and quiet. To make a long story short Valet ,Waiter and food were great Steak here are always perfect. HOSTESS AREA messy she just giggled for what seemed to be an eternity 10 minutes before seated their were no lines just was really upsetting really wanted the beginning experience to be wonderful to be disappointed the first 5 minutes doesn't set the tone well we could of chose any place in Tampa I hope the guy in the cast heals soon this way we don't have to hear the conversation although he was just one of many distractions your hostess area had many UNPROFESIONAL habits- ZERO STARS. We will not be back Remember the first impression is always at the beginning c'mon guys get it together.

Sushi! This is the only Ruth's Chris in the WORLD with sushi. It was a great surprise to get a unique appetizer here that no other Ruth's can offer. As for the rest of the meal, it was world class as you would expect from any Ruth's. The ribeye was perfectly marbled and prepared and their new smoky chipotle fingerling potatoes were excellent.

My boyfriend had surprised me with a date night at Ruth's earlier this evening. As expected at a steakhouse, everything was delightful. I must say, however, this dinner in particular went above and beyond. Our server, Ricardo, was more than amazing with his smiling attentiveness and polite manner. We ordered the Calamari as an appetizer (delicious), I had 2 small filets with shrimp (to DIE for), he had a 16oz. Strip (also amazing) and we then ended the night with a chocolate mousse cheesecake which was on special (need I say more?!) Every server/assistant we encountered tonight was more than helpful and only kept making our night more memorable. The bill? More than worth every penny. If you're looking for a superb night out and don't mind spending the money, I suggest Ruth's, entirely!

Food was solid. Price was good for the amount and quality of food you received. We came in with a group of eleven and had our own room. But the room was on of the smaller ones and the room had a small leak in the roof that leaked onto our table. Took away from what was an otherwise good dining experience.

I hadn't returned to this place for years because I had a staple in my water and they were out of everything I tried to order. About five stars and years after that debacle, I revisited with a gift card in hand, and was glad I did. Price not an issue, I still gravitated towards the 39.95 prix fixe menu and basically had a 6oz. filet with all the fixins. There were four of us, and service was seamless offering to hold our sunglasses until after our meal lest we lose them in the meaty throw down about to ensue. The reason I'm carelessly blowin' a good five stars is because my filet was cooked precisely to temperature, and was sizzling madly in a pond of butter on my plate upon arrival. I enjoyed the flavor of everything that crossed my ravenous face hole. The place was immaculate, and the service slaughtered it. It may not be the best of the best steak in all of Tampaland, BUT if the service is like this all the time, then it's certainly tasty enough for me. Steak always tastes better when sprinkled heavily with flawless service.

Amazing steak and addicting cookies (yes cookies!) My fiance and I went for the first time for Restaurant week. If it is still Restaurant week then I urge you to go! It is a great deal here. For $45 a person you get a starter, main plus side dish, and dessert. And they are good sized portions too. It is completely worth it and more. I started off with the Andouille Sausage and Chicken Gumbo. It was very hot when it came out so I had to wait a little. It was good, but I actually enjoyed my fiance's Caesar salad more. I was surprised by how big the Caesar salad was. I loved the large shaved bits of cheese and it had just the right amount of Caesar dressing. I'm still impressed that the moment (and I mean the moment) we finished our starters, our steaks came out. I got the Petite Fillet cooked rare and it was amazing. It was so tender and I felt like I could almost just cut it with a fork. They warn you that it comes cooked in butter and although some people have issue with that I loved it that way. My fiance said he didn't even need his A1 sauce (and he is an A1 fiend). This is the best steak I've had in a long time. There was so much I couldn't finish it. For sides we got the Southwestern Mac and Cheese and the Mashed potatoes. The Mac and Cheese was astounding. It had a hint of spiciness (I was afraid it would be too much, but I was wrong) that really made the dish. I've gotten tired of Mac and Cheese (blasphemous right?), but this resurfaced my love for it. The Mashed potatoes were very good too, very creamy. For dessert there was a creme brulee cheesecake with a cookie. However, the cookie (which is so much more than just a cookie, but I forget the specifics) had nuts in it, so my fiance requested if there was something else (being allergic to nuts). Our waiter, Jonathan, was so great as to bring him a plate of FOUR chocolate chip cookies. Those cookies are divine. We brought them home and I just ate one and I'm craving another. Honestly, this place should become known for their cookies over their steaks. It was also great service that Jonathan did that. There is parking in the back if you do not want to deal with valet. It is dark inside, but not too dark. It is a larger restaurant, but there are enough people in it to not seem empty (we were there on a Monday night).

Great experience for our anniversary. Roses in the table, visit from the chef, superb service and a free dessert for our anniversary. Also they have an option for a meal with starter entree side and dessert, side is regular size too. The fingerling chipotle potatoes were one of the best sides I've ever had!

Okay so the place is nice, the service is great! Their steaks are pretty amazing- but what is up with the sides? ewww. don't waste your time. We got a nice bottle of red wine which we downed completely with our meal. As I mentioned the steaks were great, the sides however I could have done with out- we got about 4 different ones. We ended the meal with the creme brulee and even that was okay. Honestly I can go to Long Horns up the road and have a good all around meal for way less. I was a bit disappointed.

Excellent steak, excellent services, booked reservations online and everyth was perfect. Had a few personal issues and arrived 15 min late, staff still accommodated us meeting our specific requirements. Tip #1: these steaks dont need any extra garnishments, Tip #2: the bread pudding is delicious, Tip #3: be ready for take home, the portion sizes were surprisingly large. NJOY

Best happy hour menu hands down and it's delicious! I go during happy hour and am always greeted by a friendly bartender. Their happy hour menu has something for both the lovers of the surf and the turf. At 7$ a pop, you can explore a few different items to claim your steak. I really like the seared ahi tuna and the salmon is awesome also. Might be the only RC that has sushi but I'd stick with the other tuna. There is also a number of libations offered at 7$ each. Enjoy!

Summary: Excellent food. Intimate atmosphere. Cheaper than eating at Flemings. Service: This is really the only area that I had an issue. It isn't that they were lacking in service, but more so the demeanor was a bit too informal. On more than one occasion our waiter, Andre, made a comment about only caring what my girlfriend needed and not what I was asking him. At first I understood that he was just being playful and light hearted; playing up on the idea that the woman is the most important. However, when I asked for something 3 separate times and never got what I asked for, it became a problem. I really don't want to complain because our experience overall was great, but afterwards when we were discussing the meal, his behavior was brought up several times in a negative light. DO NOT LET THIS DISCOURAGE YOU FROM GOING HERE WHATSOEVER. Atmosphere: Much cozier than some other steakhouses I've been to. More of a comtemperary design of the dinning area. Tables were well maintained and equipped. The noise level was at a very respectable level; everyone seemed to have no problem carrying on private conversations without interruption from other tables. Food: Ruth Chris has their steak game down! Their stakes are served in a butter and parsley 'sauce' that only adds to the flavor of the steak. Their sides are definitely big enough to share, and I would certainly recommend sharing them. Their alcohol selection is excellent. I had a "New Fashion" which was a night light twist on the traditional Old Fashion. They do have a sushi bar in the lounge area that looked appealing, although I didn't get a chance to try it myself. We had the creme brulee dessert and were very satisfied with that decision. Problems: As stated before, the waiter danced the line of friendly and disrespectful. I didn't leave feeling it ruined the evening, but I did leave wondering if I had done something to warrant being ostracized. We really had no other issues, our experience overall was delightful.

Charlies had a 2 hour wait so we thought about sliding to Ruths. No reservation, no problem. We were pleasantly ushered to the lounge. Waiter ruined the entire meal. Initially stand offish, very inattentive. Not what I expect from a establishment that caters a fine dining experience. Oh, wow, guy cheers up right before bill time. Nice move. Many other establishments deliver much more value without attitude. .. we will skip Ruths moving forward.

The fried calamari and mashed potatoes were my favorite. These are a must-have. I tasted my brother-in-law's ribeye, but I didn't like it too much. I ordered the filet mignon, which was really tender. I think getting it medium rare was too rare for my taste. I recommend going for medium. Ask for Joe Baer as your waiter. He's a young, good-looking guy (no homo). Sorry, ladies - he's married. His service was superb, and my family liked him a lot. The four stars are for the food, but I give Joe 5 stars.

Did you guys know that they have amazing sushi at the bar?? It's the only location in the country that has sushi. It's excellent quality (as to be expected from Ruth's Chris) and their rolls are soooo good. Seriously this is my go to sushi place now. It's better than any sushi place in Tampa. Forget samurai blue and soho. This is the real deal. Plus you can get any other menu item if you suddenly feel like eating Mac and cheese. Love it!!!

This review is for eating at the bar. If you want a reasonably priced meal, come here and dine off the bar menu. You can get the better part of a filet for between $7 (during happy hour) and $15, in the form of either a filet sandwich or filet kabobs. The bar menu during happy hour is ridiculously reasonable for the quality of the meat (mostly filet, prime ground beef or lobster). I got the steak sandwich, done medium rare, and it was lovely, although my friend assures me that the steak sandwich at Bern's is better. My only complaint is that the fries were a little underseasoned. Also, while I do love Haagen Dazs ice cream, I think that this place requires something a little more upscale, preferably something housemade or even locally made. But you don't come to Ruth's Chris for ice cream for dessert, unless you're my (weird) husband. Of course, if you want to have a quiet meal, don't come here, as the lounge singer decided to swap out talent with volume. Ugh. Staff is friendly. No, it's definitely not the same experience as dining in the main dining room, but if you show up on a weeknight without reservations, the bar works in a pinch. You can also order off the normal menu, but I don't know if I'd savor a $50 steak (plus extra sides) sitting at a bar table. The wine list is the same as the main dining room, so there are a few reasonably priced bottles, but most are at least $100-200. But the cocktails are pretty strong and $10-12.

Went here on a birthday celebration. We ordered a 16 oz. ribeye and a 11 oz. filet, both of which were excellent. Service was also great! We really liked our waiter; he was always outgoing and friendly. Dining area was also very nice, pretty pleasant and a nice atmosphere. It's pricey, but food and service are both great.

Ruth's Chris Restaurant seems to have become THE celebration restaurant in Tampa. We visited last night for my daughter's birthday and there were celebrations galore! The table, decorated with confetti (anniversary couples had rose petals!) and complimentary dessert are two of the touches that make Ruth's Chris special. Ruth's Chris menu is pretty standard elevated-steakhouse fare. Lots of steak choices, sauces, sides big enough to share. Dining at Ruth's Chris is just what you'd expect-- delicious food, great service. But there is little imagination-- don't forget it is a chain after all. If you're looking for a dependable, consistent dining experience, this is your place-- good for a celebration.

Great for formal or casual dining. From 5:30 to 7:00 every night except Saturday they have drink and food specials in the bar all priced at $7.00 each. The bar area is very large and spacious and typically not as crowded as Flemings is during their nightly specials. We had hamburgers and steak tip sandwiches. Don't miss the zucchini fries, they are awesome.

Hubby took me here for a Christmas weekend dinner surprise date! We'd both never been so I was happy we were both in for a new treat! We knew going into this that the price would be steeper than we were both used to, but we were ready to splurge a little! The server was exceptionally nice and explained how the menu worked: A la carte sides along with a choice of meat OR choosing from Ruth's Classics which was a pre-fixe menu laid out for you to be able to try a little bit of everything - Sign us up! We were able to choose from two prices $49.95 or $42.95 depending on the main meat option. We both chose the filet & shrimp which was $42.95 but it also came with a choice of soup/salad, side item, and then a dessert sampler! We also shared a bottle of wine for around $30 which wasn't bad and it was a wonderful Austrailian Moscato! Food: I thought that my filet was PERFECTLY cooked! Medium and medium it was! I chose the harvest salad which was fresh greens along with goat cheese (my favorite), dried cherries, fried onions, and roasted corn. I nixed the bacon. It was fabulous, I loved the sweet and savory in the salad. The side I chose was the brussel sprouts - oh my goodness. These were the best I've ever had! They were roasted with bacon and seasonings and were a great mix of crisp and tasty! I picked the bacon out, but it added the perfect flavor. Hubs enjoyed his steak just the same and had mashed potatoes as a side, which he loved. He started with the lobster bisque, which was gone in seconds too. Our desert was a peanut butter mousse on top of chocolate cake topped with chocolate ganach along side berries with cream. Delicious! We didn't expect to be stuffed! Verdict: YUM! If you are looking for a great dinner, a nicer dinner than you would have in your regular weekday, this is a wonderful place. The staff is wonderful and friendly and the food is above expectations!

I have eaten in Ruth'sChris steakhouses at least 6 times and Tampa's is good albeit I prefer the Palm, which doesn't have a Tampa location yet.I last ate hear 3 weeks ago and noticed there was a birthday for a young lady. The Waiter used confetti and made a big deal making the young lady feel good.It was after 7 p.m.,so I was a bit surprised because I've noticed in my several visits that this general happens earlier. No matter the young girl was beaming and it was to see.I ordered a Pittsburgh rare, black and blue, strip steak with several of their wonderful ala carte sides, while my friend ordered a filet and tail she also wanted a shrimp cocktail. The service was fine and I asked the party table if the desserts were complimentary for the birthday.Of course not was the answer and I asked the server to put their desserts on my check.Whwen our dinners arrived my steak was med well, albeit they got the Pittsburgh part right, and my friend said hers was overcooked and her tail was cold. When the check arrived there were ne desserts from the party table and even with all of this the meal was eventually taken cae of and tasted good. Ruth's Chris should get a dessert cart and begin making bananas foster and cherries jubilee. They are great for business.cost efficients and a much better birthday giftthan some cut up trash thrown on ones table.

Get ready to exercise your credit card. This place has some very good food wine and drinks but you will be paying for it. I went for the 11oz. Filet and my Fiancee got the filet and lobster. Both were good and a considerable amount of food. I don' give them a five star because I can certainly say that I have had better steaks and for less money. Also I feel that maybe the steak would have not have been even as good as it was, had it not been surrounded by a melted butter sauce. The ambiance is great though and it makes a great impression if you are heading out for a date night. There is a huge wine list with some very select choices available. We enjoyed the visit and would probably go back again, if the mood strikes.

My first visit to a Ruth's Chris. I had always wanted to visit one and being that their Tampa steakhouse was right next door to the hotel at which I was staying on business, this was my chance. I stopped in at about 8:00 on a Sunday night and there was ample seating at the bar. I started off with a martini while scanning the menu. For an appetizer, I had the shrimp cocktail -- four large shrimp with an awesome cocktail sauce. My main dish was an exquisite New York Strip Steak done medium well, along with garlic mashed potatoes and sauteed mushrooms. A warm, crusty loaf of bread also accompanied the meal, which I washed down with ice cold Amstel Light. A pricy dinner for sure, but one for the ages. The amount of food served would probably have been enough for two people, but the quality was top notch. The service was great, too. Based on my experience at the Ruth's Chris in Tampa, FL, I would highly recommend any of their locations.

The best thing about this restaurant is the creme brulee and the service. Both were outstanding. Also it's really only worth it to go here for the super cheap but quality happy hour food.

The "Ruth's Classic" is an excellent value! For $42.95, I had Chicken and Andouille Sausage Gumbo for starter, 6 oz. Filet Mignon & Shrimp for entree, garlic green beans for side, and Dessert Duo Pairing of Cheesecake Brûlée and Double Chocolate-walnut Cookie for dessert! I'm stuffed!

I haven't been back to this restaurant in over a month or so because of a rather Rude and some what loud bartender who keeps referring to male customers Yes Sir, Yes Sir right of way Sir. and running back and forth to the bathroom or back room only to come back to perform by sniffling and snorting A.clear indication of some kind of substance abuse .Towards the end of our stay my client and I asked for our check and was surprised at the charges ,when we questioned him the response was well I charged you for a grey goose rather then what i served you and walk away.I called him back to further explain himself which he wasn't prepared to do because he was caught red handed with him pocketing the money .I think his name is mike (not really sure) but he is a husky white male around 30 yrs with short dark hair and a pompous attitude.I rarely write reviews but when something is amiss i need to speak.I am also writing to there corporate office about what we saw and confronted with.H could not answer us and ran of rather embarrassingly .I have taken a lot of clients out to steak houses and will be avoiding this place until the situation is corrected. By the way food was good and flavorful. management needs to focus on this guy.

We have tried all of the places in Tampa and on one of our last nights here we went back to our favorite, Ruth's Chris. We had given up on getting a better steak at a restaurant than we can make at home but Ruth's Chris came through. We both had filets and mine was the 16oz bone-in special and was probably the best steak I've ever had. This is saying something because I eat at places like this all over the world. Wish we would have skipped all the others and had just been coming here.

Luncheon at Ruth Chris. Service was great. However food was mediocre at best. Filet had little seasoning and the sides weren't far behind. Have had better dinners there but today was not it

No disapointment here! The Filet Mignon was superb. It came out sizzling in butter on a plate that was 500 degress. If it's not cooked enough for you, just slice it up and the plate will finish cooking it for you! I tried the broccoli au gratin on the side. Very good but not so healthy with all that cream and cheese. Expect to pay about $50 per person without alcohol and dessert. It's not cheap. No reservations needed if you eat early, like 5 pm. But it will be packed by 6 mid week.

I made this reservation weeks in advance because Easter happened to fall on the same night as our anniversary. We didn't know how dressy this place was, so I was in business casual and the boy was in a vest and tie. We were WAY overdressed, even for Easter! A polo and long khakis would have sufficed. We showed up at 6 for our 6:15 reservation, and they were able to seat us immediately. When the maitre d sat us, our table had rose petals on it because I wrote on our reservation that we were celebrating. What a beautiful touch. We had three waiters altogether: one for drinks, an assistant for the food, and our main waiter who managed the menu and check. They are running sushi right now, and the surf and turf sushi was outstanding. Absolutely wonderful. The boy and I ordered a bottle of wine, and got their special. For $51 ($54 for him), we got the tomato and crab soup, I got a filet and he got the larger ribeye, we got mushrooms and mashed potatoes and a personal sized strawberry chocolate cheesecake with dark chocolate clusters. Normally, you get a smaller portion for the sides (mushrooms and potatoes), but they gave us full sized sides because it was our anniversary. Those sides are huge! But let me clue you in on the secret of the meal: medium rare filet. Omg. No words. When they presented the dessert, they wrote in chocolate "happy anniversary mr and mrs Maggio" and gave us two additional desserts to bring home. All in all, it came to $168 and we got a pretty cheap bottle of wine. There was an error on our check but our server immediately fixed the mistake and apologized profusely. I was extremely impressed with their professionalism and attention to detail. Thank you, Ruth's Chris. You made our anniversary unforgettable.

My husband and I dined here for our first anniversary and I can't recommend Ruth's Chris enough for special occasion meal. Everything was top notch, from the delicious food to the amazing service. They even had rose pedals waiting for us on our table and offered a delicious complimentary dessert that had "Happy 1st Anniversary" spelled out in chocolate. The steaks were, of course, heavenly. I would recommend the brussels sprouts for a side dish. It isn't on the main menu, but I made a special request and they made it happen. We hope to return for future anniversaries. It was very $$$, which means we will only return on special ocassions.

We had never been to the restaurant, but had heard about it for years. For Easter we decided to have a special dinner with freinds, and knew going in, the prices where high. This is the understatement of the decade. "Outrageous" is a better word. First off, almost everything is A-La Carte. The few "specials" are in the $50 area, and go up from there. The food quality is fair, but not a lot better than an Outback or other lower priced chain. The server made several mistakes on orders, but did his best to correct them. In short, an interesting experience, but not going back. Just way too overpriced.

This is the best place for happy hour!!! My family and I frequented here while I was visiting for Christmas... We sat in the bar area. The bartenders name was Chris and he was amazing!!! He recognized me the second I walked to the bar from the previous couple of days and offered some homemade potato chips while I waited for the rest of my party. (Order them! They are free and amazing with the sauces!) He makes the best Cosmo so if you go there and order a Cosmo make sure Chris makes it for you...!!!! When the other bartender made my second one, I told him his was better and he quickly made me a new one even though I wasn't complaining.. He was so sweet and accommodating on multiple occasions. Everyone in my party agreed. The servers in the bar area work together beautifully.. Alicia, I believe was her name, was also very friendly and gave great service.. The food was also amazing.. The lobster, the burger, and the steak sandwich can't be beat!!!! The 5 stars are for Chris and his cosmos!

This steak house would appear in my top 5 places for sure. The wait staff was amazing, accommodating and friendly. The food was just outstanding; although i wish my steak had been seasoned a little better. This place is worth the money if you got some cash to spare.

My wife and I celebrated our anniversary here. Wow, this place is amazing. I've never had food so piping hot. The steak was outstanding, best I ever had. The chipotle potatoes were amazing and or dessert with cinnamon cheescake with ice cream and chocolate bark was damn good too. The service was impecable and I honestly can't find anything wrong with this place. This is now and will be the only place I go to for steak.

My ribeye was cooked nicely but one side was somewhat sinewy and tough. If I'm paying this much, I expect it to be tender, especially when it's aged prime beef. I can cook a prime cut with a better crust. Forget paying $40 or more here. I'll try to post a menu with prices, since they don't post prices online. Not a good value in my book. Free parking is to the back lot which sucks. Nobody is interested in doing complimentary valet. Get a clue. There's plenty of parking, and we can do it ourselves like big boys. Valet should stop hogging up the good spots in the front. Just look at how empty all those spots are. I feel generous, so I will give you at least 2 stars for excellent service and decent portions.

For these prices, if you bring me a sputtering steak slathered in butter, and ask me to protect myself with my napkin, I feel like you should hold the napkin for me. Seriously, I don't see how drowning a steak in butter shows off the quality. For less money, you can go to Bern's and enjoy a dry aged steak of a lifetime. With that in mind, why would anyone come here in Tampa, ever? I simple don't know. Someone explain it to me. Please.

Ahhhh Ruth's Chris how I've missed you so. Ruth's Chris is my absolute favorite steak house. I used to frequent the Orlando location quite often (prior to the collapse of the Real Estate market). When Dine Tampa Bay announced Restaurant Week 2012, the first thing I did was look to see if Ruth's Chris was part of the line up - and it was! For $45 a person, you got a 3 course meal with sides. Starting off, we were given a choice between Steak House Salad, Caesar Salad, Strawberry Toasted Almond and Bleu Cheese Salad or Tomato & Basil Bisque We opted for the Caesar salad and were very happy with the selection. For the entree's, you could select between a Filet, Ribeye, 6oz Filet & Caribbean Lobster Tail or Seared Ahi Tuna with Soy-Ginger Sauce. I over indulged and got the 11 ounce Filet Mignon. Um do you know me? I can't eat a 5 ounce steak. This steak was over 3" tall. I have never seen anything like this (I usually order Petite Filets at Ruth's Chris). It was perfectly cooked, I could cut it with a fork. It was everything you would ever look for in a Filet Mignon. Let's just say I had a very nice leftover lunch today! Gabe got the Ribeye and to be honest, I liked the flavor steak of his over mine. Would I trade him? No way - I am a filet girl. Yet the Ribeye was excellent and I strongly suggest it. Each person was able to select a side item, which is normally an extra $10 at Ruths. Sautèed Mushrooms, Creamed Spinach, Green Beans with Roasted Garlic, Sweet Corn and Edamame Succotash or Garlic Mashed Potatoes. We got the mashed potatoes and mushrooms. Finally for dessert - there was only once choice, the Key Lime Cheesecake served with Pecan Chocolate Bark and Raspberry Sauce. My photo does not give this dessert justice. I will be honest, when we saw this was our only suggestion, we were both disappointed. Yes, we live in FL but neither of us are huge fans of Key Lime Pie. We were pleasantly surprised by this dessert. It wasn't too tart and the chocolate bark set it off with a perfect crunch. We had an excellent dinner. It normally hurts to spend over $100 on dinner for two as most of the time, I can cook whatever we are eating out better at home. Not in this case. Ruth's Chris is well worth the money. AND - they have a Happy Hour. How did I not know this? I work right down the street from RC. The Sizzle and Swirl Happy Hour offers a selection of specialty drinks and treats for $7. Two standout items on that menu - a $7 Cosmo and a $7 Maine Lobster Roll. I will be returning for HH really soon.

Waitress said the plate would be five hundred and fifty degrees, is this necessary, the elderly and kids etc. got burned at another restaurant. The server handed me the plate and for months my hands have been burning. I'm a musician so I lost my job that I've been doing so long over a hot plate. These restaurants should realize how dangerous this is. Expensive and steak was fair.

Ill keep it short and sweet I dine out constantly seeing that I'm always on the go. The wait staff was decent nothing to brag about it took some time to bring our drinks and food and they were not busy. My steak was cooked well but the taste really was not there my spinach au gratin was terrible not what I expected but I will say my lobster tail was great. Seems like they had given sub par service due to me wearing sneakers jeans and a T-shirt. My money is green like the next mans. To sum it up it was a decent meal but I've paid less for alot better.

The Steaks at Ruth's are like "buttah"... seriously! All the steaks are cooked in their amazing herbed butter... can someone please leak the secret recipe?! I know some people like to steer clear of chains, but sometimes you have to duplicate perfection! I can always depend on the food and service to be wonderful at Ruth's Chris. My husband is obsessed with the buffalo... a little to gamey for my taste. The buffalo is a seasonal item on the menu so my husband gets very excited when it's available! The chopped salad is amazing!!! I don't even like mushrooms, but in this salad they taste like heaven. The creamed spinach or asparagus are great side dishes to share. Great wine selection and the dirty martinis with blue cheese stuffed olives are fabulous. The waiters are always friendly and informative. The great food and service is why Ruth's Chris is one of my favorite steakhouses. TIP: If you order drinks in the bar/lounge the bartender will bring you the most amazing homemade kettle chips free of charge (free chips, not alcohol!).

Came here for a work dinner. Don't eat beef so I ordered the salmon. I was a little surprised to find 3 bones in my salmon. At a price point like this that should not happen! One was fairly large! The sides were just okay. I had been here once before about 10 yrs ago & was very impressed.....not so much this time! Luckily I wasn't paying for it!

Ate dinner last weekend and the service was extremely subpar. Our waitress took our drink order and did not even know their beer or vodka choices. Then after about thirty minutes of not having our order taken or drinks refilled we complained to the manager who told us he would pay for a round of drinks and keep an eye out for our table. The waitress didn't seem to care and our service was terrible for the rest of the evening. We complained again to the manager who didn't seen to care. Needless to say I expected much more. We will not be going back.

Every year myself and friends and family make it a point to go to this place to celebrate birthdays and splurge for a good night out. We generally celebrate birthdays for those who have summertime birthdays and others just come to celebrate and enjoy. After coming to this place for the past four years I can honestly state that this is the last year we will do this at this restaurant. Making reservations and stating it was for birthdays was not a problem, it's easy to do on their online reservation system. Ordering drinks was problematic, and that was the beginning of what would become a problem. First we stated we are splitting the check and the waiter had no problem with this. First they could not remember who got which drink, then failed to take orders for our appetizers. When he wanted to take our dinner order we asked to order appetizers first. We got the appetizers, but had no silverware or plates to use to eat the appetizers with. Also we had to remind the people several times for these items, by the time we got them our appetizers were lukewarm. The steaks seemed wrong for some reason, probably because with all of the headaches before getting the steaks, I ordered saute mushrooms with my steak. I was disappointed to find the mushrooms canned and served lukewarm and whole. When we got the bill it was completely wrong, they got items cross checks and added phantom items which we did not order. There was a consensus across the table to go to Bern's next year, which is were we went for dessert, at least the service will be better.

I've been eating here since 2004 when I first moved to Tampa. All but I think three times, Andres was my waiter! Let me tell you. I miss him! We are temporarily out of Tampa and haven't eaten there since February I think and it is terrible having to have waiters that don't know us. Andres is so awesome, he and his wife came to my office in Westchase, with his two kids and they brought flan for my wife during the holidays. How freaking awesome is that? If you're a waiter, you tell me the last time YOU have been to someones home/work to bring THEM something. I could go on and on just about him, but my fingers would get tired. I hope the GM reads this and gives him a big hug for me and tell him that we're having withdrawls! Anywho. One of the main things I like about Ruths is that, they track your eating habits. We got back into town NYE this past year after being gone a week or so at 1030'ish and called for a reservation. They said, "sorry, we don't have anything, can we have your name in case something comes available". I gave them my name, they put me on hold and said, "Mr Snodgrass, Andres can seat you"... so we got to eat, when we normally would not have been able to because they considered us good customers (I would like to think). Andres ALWAYS remembers what I drink and eat and sometimes, my drink is on the table when we sit down. THAT'S service. We've gotten to tour the kitchen, the managers have all said hi to us on numerous occasions and this place definitely makes me feel comfortable. I remember one time I wrote a letter to Ruths corporate complimenting that location (I have eaten at a lot of Ruths) and I let them know how awesome it is. The next time I came in, the GM came over, asked the table who "Mr Snodgrass was", assuming it was the older guy with me... I stood up, shook his hand and asked what I could do for him. He said, "he wanted to thank me for saying positive things to their corporate, since people are quick to complain, but slow to approve". He said, "drinks are on me" and he bought our first few rounds. Again. When do normal eateries do things like this? NEVER! I think I am so homesick for Tampa right now because I miss being waited on by people who actually give a crap. If I had $3 million spare dollars, I'd open one here so I could eat there for breakfast, lunch and dinner! Keep up the good work!

We like Ruth's Chris. Stupid name for great steaks. This time we started off with wine we didn't like. The house wine with their name on it should at least be passable, but when we told the waitress it was immediately replaced. Mushrooms on the steak are a waste. Flavorless orbs instead of something grown wild and cooked with flair. The bone-in ribeye is fantastic! Yes, they get it wrapped in plastic instead of cutting it themselves off of the roast, but it is Prime and tastes like it! The sizzling plate and butter make it a killer! A great place for a chain-restaurant steak.

After going to Bern's a few times we decided to change it up and try out Ruth's Chris since we have heard from many friends that they have enjoyed it. We were in a party of 6 and I'm going to attest for mostly just my meal and my boyfriends. 1. We did not get the 5 start treatment as we would at other restaurants that are like this class. It was just one step above applebees. We both ordered drinks, one was Jack and Apple juice and a Martini that was on their menu. The Jack drink was find but the Martini tasted watered down. The table the ordered two appetizers, the Ahi Tuna and Calamari. The Calamari was fine, same that you get at any other restaurant and the Tuna was served with a barbecue type sauce over it that I did not like. Nothing Special here worth getting ever again. Dinner was the Cowboy Ribeye (medium) and a Tuna Filet (Raw). 1. Salad that came with Tuna dinner - This was just a bag of fresh greens dropped onto a plate and some walnuts sprinkled on it. Very disappointing. 2. Sides that were ordered: Mashed Potatoes - Okay, Onion rings - Okay, Potato Straws - Not so good, Green beans - Okay. One of our friends then ordered the creamed spinach that tasted like it was dumped out of a can. Just horrible. When I use Okay, this is the type of food that you expect at a cheap restaurant. There was absolutely nothing special about anything and it all seemed extremely processed. 3. During the course of the meal out of the 6 of us 4 were out of drinks and were never asked if we would like anything else, even a refill on Water. 4. Now onto the Meals. The Cowboy Rib-eye, was so tough I would have returned it, but my boyfriend does not like any confrontation. It did have flavor, but the steak was like chewing a boot. (we had another friend who ordered the same steak and had exactly the same comments.) The Tuna, was fine. Normally when it is served I'm use to getting it one temperature. This filet was hot on the outside and refrigerator cold on the inside. This just seemed like a beginner mistake for high class restaurant. Otherwise the Tuna was fine, just not served the correct temperature. Desert, we all had a little chocolate cake with some ice-cream, nothing special or nothing to talk about. It was ice-cream with a little cupcake. Overall for the 2 of us our bill came to $205 and it was some of the worst spent money. Pass this up and go to Bern's or give Armani's Hyatt a try. DO NOT waste your money by going to this chain steak house.

I ALWAYS make a point to dine here when I'm in Tampa on business! General Manager Jim Martin knows what it means to offer exemplary service. His goal is to make each dining experience the best and he always makes that happen. All Ruth's Chris have great food, this Mr. Martin makes this RC stand out from the rest.

Came for Christmas Eve dinner with the family. We visit a few times a year for birthdays and other events. Made the reservation several weeks in advance and am happy we did as they were very busy and decided to close early this year (at 8pm). Our server was attentive although slightly condescending at times. All the rest of the staff were very pleasant. My family's steaks were all delicious. The petite fillet is great and plenty big enough. I ordered it medium rare and I would say it was a touch overdone but not so much to make a fuss over. The steaks come brushed with an herb butter and sizzling on a very hot plate. They will leave off the butter if you ask and the steak is still very tasty without it. One of the main reasons we choose Ruth's Chris for Christmas Eve dinner is that we love the side dishes. The Broccoli au gratin is amazing! We also had the creamed spinach which was good but I would have preferred the spinach au gratin and the asparagus with hollandaise. The asparagus was overcooked and bordering on limp. Desserts are one place that I think Ruth's Chris could improve. The offerings are decent, a flour-less chocolate cake, a creme brulee, cheesecake, apple pie, Haagan dazs ice cream. Overall, they are a yawn and totally predictable. Don't get me wrong, they taste good but as a family that loves dessert there isn't anything that we have ever been super impressed by. As mentioned by other reviewers, they are offering a prix-fixe menu with a side, entree, and dessert. Wine selection is decent and changes. I was not impressed by their wine by the glass selections. Overpriced, especially considering they are not boutique wines but common big name labels. You could go to another restaurant down the street and get the same glass for $2-3 less. The dining room is big and open and can get quite noisy. They do have some private rooms and more secluded tables but you'd need to ask for those in advance.

Meal was pretty good. Service was excellent. Had the petite fillet and the lobster bisque and both were very good.

Overall a good steak. I didnt like how crammed in I felt ... almost sitting on top of the person on the sides. We didnt have that great of service really and our server also didnt/couldnt even give recommendations. There are just so many other steakhouses that are far superior like Charleys, Berns, Flemings, Capital Grill, etc. Stick with one of those insead.

First time ever to Ruth's Chris steak house. Arrived, and the first thing pulling into the parking lot, the whole front parking lot has cones for valet parking. Really? Go to the back, and the parking lot is full. Had to part next door. Pop inside, nice, they have live music playing in the bar, but we get seated in a separate dining room, canned music. I ordered a steak, which was very tender, but a bit short on flavor. Plate is very hot, and steak is swimming in butter (ick). Cocktails were so so. Sides were nothing to write home about. Overall, my impression was the food was very overpriced, and certainly not in my top ten, service was great.

Before I moved to Toronto I was a twice a week patron at the Ruth's Chris on West Shore. I still eat at the one on Richmond St. in Toronto but after tonight's experience perhaps it is time to rethink the entire chain. Arrived on time for our 9pm reservation. My daughter and I were shown to a booth in a lonely corner of the restaurant where one of us was facing a wall. There were only 4 other tables in use. Why give us the worst table in the house? I told her we wanted another booth and she said they couldn't because they only had one section open. Ok....for starters I just cringe when you get a hostess who won't accomodate you. But the table I wanted was only 10 ft away......geez! Finally after much discussion we were given a better booth. The restaurant has recently undergone a renovation. I can't say that I am a fan. It is far too bright and seem more like the Village Inn than fine dining. Ok...maybe I am nitpicking the decor but I don't think they did themselves any favors with the new layout. We ordered drinks which took at least 10 minutes to deliver. The waiter came by and said bread was on the way. It never appeared. We both ordered the large filet. My daughter's medium rare and mine medium. To be fair my daughter's came out perfectly and she was very happy with it. Mine however was extremely overdone. The outside was charred and the inside both tough and overcooked. Not only was it overcooked but the steak was all gristly and fatty on the inside. It was almost impossible to eat. Had I seen a waiter after it was delivered I would have sent it back but no one came by to check on us until my daughter was almost finished. I had eaten about a quarter of my steak and was not about to extend our dinner by sending it back. When they came to clear our plates it was pretty obvious that something was wrong with my steak since it was barely touched but neither the waiter or his assistant bothered to inquire if there was a problem. Oh well...the creamed spinach and au gratin potatoes were excellent so I did get to eat a little bit. On a side note: Ruths Chris Tampa now offers a sushi menu. Sushi! In a Steak House! YIkes. There are too many options these days for a good steak in Tampa for me to go back to Ruth's Chris again. Maybe in another seven years. Perhaps by then my memory of a really bad dining experience will have faded....

I do not have a lot to say because when I went here I was in very good company and I had a few drinks so I didn't pay as much attention to detail as I normally do. However the stuffed chicken breast and backed potato was really great, and I liked the venue, it was really classy, parking sucked, but once you get passed that you are in for a wonderful experience. Food is on the pricey side but it is worth it, especially if you like steak, my friends said it was some of the best, but I do not eat steak so I cannot say, but overall wonderful experience :)

Two words: HAPPY HOUR! Far and away the best deal around! There is a whole menu of items that cost $7 each and they are all worth far more than that. By the way, one evening we stopped in and one of the Chefs (I believe his name was George) met us at the door and walked us back to our table in the bar. It was totally random but a completely nice touch. He even gave us his business card, and we weren't big wheeler-dealers rolling in there -- just a normal, dressed-down couple who wanted some Happy Hour food and drinks. Phenomenal customer service. Our favorites: the ahi tuna, the spicy lobster chunks (NOT sushi -- not that there's anything wrong with the sushi, but I didn't want you thinking I meant Lobster Roll or something), and the steak sandwich (that was reminiscent of Chateau Briand). We ate like royalty and had cocktails for less than $45. HEAVEN. Thanks for the great deal!

We were celebrating my parents 63rd wedding anniversary and we couldn't have had a more outstanding experience. Our rib eye was perfect, as was the chop salad and broccoli au gratin. The sweet potatoe casserole was so good it could have been dessert. And they brought us a special dessert plate and took a picture of them to commenerate the event! Linda was our waitress and she was awesome!

We had a very nice dinner here. They have a nice gentlemens club, cozy den feel to it, but certainly not stuffy or even upscale compartively speaking. Started with the crabtini ($9.99) which was good but had way too much remoulade sauce in it. Had the harvest salad with bits of corn, bacon, crumbled goat cheese and cajun pecans ($9.99) was delicious! OMG, good.then had the porterhouse for two ($42.99) which was very good, perfectly cooked med rare and oh so tender. Had a side of au gratin potatos which were good, but really nothing great, a definite downfall. ($8.50)All in all a good time. Service was perfect, wines were good and a decent selection and the steak was delicious. Since the sides and appetizers weren't that spectacular, given all the other choices, I doubt we'll go back, but it was worth the time and visit and it was a nice dinner out.

I love Ruth's I have eaten at many of the restaurants in the country. They do a very good job with service and in my experience you can always count on getting a great steak. I have never been disappointed by the service at any of the restaurants. This place is expensive and not somewhere I would eat on a weekly basis but if your looking for a great night with great service and good food you won't be disappointed.

They make the room very dark and for a romantic ambiance. The service was also very exceptional, and our waiter had a thorough knowledge on the menu and wine. We have been here several times and they were all very satisfying experiences. Food: Complimentary bread- It is a white loaf of bread served with butter. The bread is always warm and very tasty. Petite Fillet- This fillet was small, but rather thick. They cooked it perfectly to medium rare and it was the most lean, tender, and flavorful piece of steak I have ever had. They also serve their food on heated plates, so the food stays nice and warm when you eat. Crab cakes- These were made with pure lump crab and consisted of no filling or batter. They were sort of fishy, but the quality of the crab was good. Lobster tail- The flavor is delicious, because they top it off with their garlic butter sauce. It was just slightly over cooked for my preference, but the size was pretty decent. Double breast of chicken- The worst dish in the restaurant. The filling was nasty and the chicken tasted like a roasted chicken you could have bought at walmart. Steamed Asparagus with hollandaise- The asparagus was nice and tender, but the sauce didn't make the asparagus taste better in any way. Broiled tomatoes- One huge beef steak tomato coated in sugar. It really isn't worth the price, but it is a pretty fun side dish to have. Steamed broccoli- They give you a whole stock of broccoli that is nothing special, but a generous portion. I would recommend Ruth Chris for an upscale steakhouse that won't blow your wallet away. You can taste the quality and you won't be disappointed.

Was down in Tampa on a business and pleasure trip. I took a classmate to dinner to celebrate his nascent marriage. This was supposed to be the high-point of our time. I thought it would be a good place to go, since we couldn't get a short-notice reservation at Bern's. Unfortunately this location seats folks in over-grown arms chairs that are an attempt to turn former bar space into dining space. This problem was compounded by the extremely loud music, which was lowered upon request. The meal was ok. My steak was overdone, the service fleeting at best, and nothing stood out as exceptional. Try out a local Cuban place until they resolve these issues. After that, I'll try again.

Went for our anniversary, place very nice atmosphere, made reservations and when we got seated, the table had rose petals across the tablecloth, very nice touch. Waiter was great, service great, food done just right. For me though, I will go again for another special occasion, not a place I could afford too often.

Reservations for wedding anniversary March 12th. My ribeye was tough and grisly. Sent it back. 2nd was better but certainly not Prime quality. Because it would spoil the occasion I ate and paid for it anyway. I have a friend who dines there all the time and also complains that the steak quality is not consistently good.

For the most part, the food and service is consistently spectacular. But then occasionally, they seem to have issues with the wait staff and/or the kitchen. For the cost, I expect a fabulous experience every time. And I usually have one. :)

As old school as it gets.. and that may or may not be a good thing. I booked this restaurant for a birthday occasion for my husband. Romantic? I don't know if I would deliberately call it that. The decor oozes old money with enough rich wood paneling to make a librarian faint with joy. Service is good, cooly efficient but not spectacular. At this price point I've seen better, more efficient and gracious service at other expensive Tampa restaurants however that is not to compare it to your neighborhood Chili's. The service meets but does NOT pleasantly exceed expectations. Both my husband and I sat for quite a while in the lounge for drinks and appetizers, enjoying the live lounge music before heading into the dining room for dinner. We stuck to mixed drinks (very good) and the 45 dollar combination meals. They are great deals since they don't stint on size of the meals either which is surprising for meal combos. Both my husband and I had enough for leftovers to take home. My one big gripe with Ruth may also be its selling point. Apparently it has never changed any of its recipes. High grade steak and lamb drenched in butter. And when in doubt, add more butter. And just in case, add more butter. The food from veggies to mashed potatos all uses the same recipe. Butter, a pinch of salt and a smattering of herbs for seasoning and color. Don't get me wrong. Anything tastes great sauteed in butter, including old socks. If you're looking for traditionally cooked that hasn't changed since the 50's, this is up your alley. Don't come here looking for food that is inventive, global, or pushes boundaries.

So the low point of the meal for me was the appetizers and dessert.. We had the stuffed mushrooms and the ahi. They were good, but not awesome. I would not order appetizers there again. The highlight of the whole meal for me........ wait for it....was the SALAD!!!!!!! I had the Ruth's jumbo salad . It was cold, refreshing , and it was chopped so fine it was incredible! The steak was of course wonderful. I loved that it is not smoked. The bread at the table was good, and it was over all a great experience. The next time I go there I will skip the appetizers, and go for the salad and steak. We also had the bread pudding for dessert which we shared. It was unimpressive. Would not get it again. Great Job Ruth Chris! That salad is ROCKING!

Of the upscale steakhouses I've been to, this has been the best. I'm not one to usually drop $150-$200 on a good meal (hey, I'm only 27!) but it was well worth it. I ordered a special, I believe it was a buffalo steak, with the asparagus and sauteed mushrooms. Everything tasted delicious. The service was great (as should be expected) and it was very romantic. I'm more than likely going to go back here for my master's program graduation in a few months, or try Charley's. If anyone has a recommendation between the two, please share! (I've been to Shula's, Capital Grille, and Fleming's and this is my favorite so far)

This was my fourth time at Ruth's Chris Steak House. While it's pretty good for a chain restaurant, I found the food to be buttered-up too much, both literally and figuratively. It's too bad that they put way too much butter in their dishes and on their steaks, as it overpowers the flavors. For instance, I ordered the Cowbow Ribeye (24oz bone-in ribeye). Instead of tasting the flavor from the aged marbled steak, i could only taste the butter. For starters, I ordered the crab and corn chowder, and that too, contained a lot of butter. While I do like some butter on steaks, it would do everyone a favor if they reduced the amount of butter by half, IMO. The best items on their menu are the creamed spinach side (large enough to split between two people) and their key lime pie, which can serve two and has a nice custard-like consistency.

3rd trip to Ruth's Chris, great food and service as always. The filet was cooked perfectly, and the asparagus was outstanding although the hollandaise was a little thick for my taste. The house red blend (Fess Parker?) was a nice surprise for $7 a glass.

Simply Amazing! If you get a chance you gotta check this place out. Ok it does have one of the oddest names in steak house history, but the food was amazing. I got the New York Strip, it was melt in your mouth tender and it was served on 400 degree plate to preserve the taste. I like my stake medium rare and this was perfect. I was there with three friends so we got string beans and squash as sides which are served family style. They have an impresive liquer selection and I had an apple pastry that was great. Its a little pricey, it cost us about $350 plus tip, but we had appatizers, drinks, and desserts. If your in the area definitly check it out!

Call me nuts, but the second I leave Chicago, I have a craving for a mid-western cow. So, as soon as we drive out of the rental car lot, I spy a Ruth Chris and yell to the hubby to pull over. He had never been before, and I felt the need to teach (even in the off season). We walked in, and due to our attire (we just got off a plane), were seated in the bar area. They were running a summer special with an appetizer, entree, and dessert for each person costing $90 a couple. So needless to say, Ruth Chris is pricey!!!! I took a star off, since I am usually not such a hoity-toity type. I ordered a salad and my hubby ordered the gumbo. We also ordered shrimp, as well as scallops for appetizers. The shrimp was wonderfully cooked, and he really enjoyed the scallops... but again, he got 3 grilled scallops for $15. They are good... but they aren't gold-plated.... ya know?! We both ordered the filet mignon for dinner, and you know you can't go wrong with that. It is just plain out delicious. That's all you can say. It's tender, and juicy, and sizzles on the little 500-degree plate cuz' it's so happy to see you. Yummmmmm. (PS. Do NOT get your steak done more than medium here people.... it's like an insult to the animal). The chocolate espresso sin cake came out for dessert. And really.... really..... that was the best damn chocolatey wonderfulness that I have ever partaken in. I would swim in that cake if you let me. Seriously. I would kill to get that recipe. So overall... good food, stupid prices. Service was pretty great as well.

Upon arriving, 50% of the parking lot was coned off forcing us to use a valet. While this may be 'classy,' its not really necessary for two young people perfectly capable of walking 15 extra feet. The valet were fast and friendly, as were the hostesses. The waiter was helpful and patient albeit a bit rigid regardless of our wisecracking (professional I suppose.) I ordered a medium-rare ribeye with sauteed mushrooms, my friend ordered the filet (medium) and loaded baked potato. My starter was the lobster bisque. The bisque was pretty good at $9. My ribeye cut was over an inch think and really nice, however it was definitely not medium rare. My friend's medium-grilled filet was bloodier than my medium rare. Therefore, I was not as sold on the prowess of the cooks as I was the quality of the beef. I tasted the filet, it was fantastic, so I'd recommend that over a larger steak. I really enjoyed the large button sauteed mushrooms! We got a bottle of Medicino Fog for around $32, so that was a great deal and it worked out perfectly for two. I was too full for the dessert I had ordered to I took it home. On yelp, 2 stars means "Meh, I've experienced better." If you're looking for a reliable place to take a date or impress business partners, you really can't lose here. If you're looking for the best steaks out there, try Bern's (although I have yet to be there.) I've had "roadhouse" steak dinners that blew Ruth's Chris out of the water. A good piece of beef is ruined if it is not cooked to order. I cannot sign off on value here.

If you go here for Thanksgiving dinner,...get the steak! Wow...what a disappointment for the turkey dinner. The turkey had a "rubbery" texture and didn't seem like fresh turkey. It was sliced in even, thick slices and had a pinkish tone. The stuffing was very salty and seemed like from a box. The cranberry sauce had an "odd" taste...still can't figure it out. The Manager did apologize and offered to let us choose something else or take money off the bill (which he did). That was appreciated but we really just wanted a good turkey dinner for the holiday.

Chain restaurants, chain stores, big boxes and all of the like are usually not worth visiting let alone reviewing. BUT, Ruth's Chris is different. I've dined at several locations throughout the US and have always been impressed. Last night eight of us dined here and the food was excellent. The service could have been a little bit faster, but heck we'll let that slide since the food was so darn good. We started with a healthy dose of appetizers. The calamari was cooked to perfection, not rubbery like so many places serve it. Stuffed mushrooms, Ahi tuna and the crab cakes were perfect too. Everyone either had soup or salad which were all as fresh and tasty as can be. For dinner two people really wanted salmon and while it wasn't on the menu, Ruth's Chris had it available and cooked it to perfection for them. The rest of us had steaks and they were the best. Served sizzling on 500 degree plates (don't touch them!) they were all prepared exactly as requested. After all that food no one had room for dessert, next time I'll have to save room. Bon appetit!

Cones blocking off entire front and most of the side for elite customers i'd assume didn't sway our decision to take that short walk from parking behind restaurant. We had reservations and were seated right away, surprisingly about 7 feet away from Peyton Manning!! He was in town for monday night football the following nite and was joined by what looked to be 2 other huge players but didn't recognize them. Robert was our waiter and he was great!!! Very responsive on every detail. Salads were great and I had to actually stop myself from finishing to save room for my steak. Steak and tail was good. Coulda used a dipping sauce of some type but still good. Desserts need work for sure, hence the 4 star rating. Little strawberry shortcakes with a few chocolate balls and strawberries. Overall good job here for being a chain steakhouse and I contained myself from approaching my favorite quarterback for a pic or autograph due to the classy environment !!!!!!

"You call this a chain?" The more I mature the less interested I am in dining in an establishment that has carbon copies of itself littered practically everywhere across the North American landscape. But such is the life of an American in the 21st century and as homo sapiens nature dictates us to adapt. That being said this is the first tyme in several years I've been literally blown away by a large scale restaurant chain. This place was understated magnificence. The ambiance and overall feel were that of sophistication and the aire that you were truly dining in a fine establishment. Which, unfortunately, was also reflected in the entree pricing. (What other dining chain have you seen that does everything ala carte?). The staff was unbelievably attentive, responsive and overall friendly. It's kind a an ego boost to be referred to as "Mr. H" everytyme they refilled my water glass, or attempted to remove a dish from the table. Which was refreshingly quite frequent. The ambiance was nice and darkened and reeked of old warm charm. All brass and wood, not a formica table or wood bench in the joint. Glancing over at the separated lounge area made me wish I actually imbibed liquor, because of it's lush high back loungers and couches. In hindsight I'm questioning whether they'd look funny at me for going over there and ordering a "virgin" something or other just so I can stretch out in one of those chairs. Exquisite and lovingly prepared are the only adjectives I can come up with at the moment to describe the food I was served here. Now I know I'll be chastised later about this, but I wanna just get it out in the open so there are no illusions. I made a cardinal dining sin (at least in my father's eyes) in ordering my entree. In a place nationally revered for the quality it's steak, I off-color ordered a chicken dinner. (Somewhere in heaven a wizened, white haired, black gentleman just took a drag off of his Salem regular and heaved a sigh like he just lost the Superbowl). "I'm sorry dad". And though I wish I could say it was "horrible" and I "got what I deserve" for carrying out such a heinous foodie crime. I can't because it was spectacular. "Sorry again" The stuffed chicken breast was quite possibly the best poultry dish I've ever had the pleasure of devouring outside of a Thanksgiving dinner. As tender, plump and succulent as a 3 year old's cheek the duo of breasts are served hellishly hot on the establishment's standard 400 degree dish stewing in a mixture of lascivious lemon butter and its own delectable juices. The outside was seasoned with a miscellany of garlic and herbs, while the interior was stuffed with a "secret" specialty cheese that was absolutely fanatabulous! And how many tymes can you get away with using the word "fantabolous" in a description. I'm assuming not very many, and this chicken was so yummy that I've decided to spare one here. The family style mashed potatoes weren't the most spectacular and the appetizer of crab stuffed mushrooms was tasty, but neither were the star of the show so their mentions here are a formality rather than a necessity. The wine list was very impressive, but honestly no loftier than one would expect from a place like this. With a place this good though it's a shame that there has to come a lowpoint and this one signaled the end of my meal. Yes I'm speaking of the dreaded star stealer known far and wide as. Dessert. The first to arrive at the table was the much lauded (at least by the patrons behind us) banana creme pie. Though the menu description of the filling as being "white chocolate banana custard" it came out more like an ice cream soup as soon you perforated the flaky crust. It was as unattractive to me as it sounds, so I returned it and opted for a more traditional dessert. The bread pudding with whiskey sauce which hilariously our server made little "bottle drinking" hand signals to indicate the severity of the liquor used to douse the bread in sauce. Disappointingly the "whiskey" was barely audible over the loud sweet taste of the bread. Sad, but not nearly enough to offset the balance of the beauty of this establishment or the care taken to make commercial fine dining more fine than commercial. As the governor of California once quipped, "I'll be back". :)

So my take on this restaurant experience starts with the steak. I had the petite filet medium well. It was fair, not spectacular. Extremely loaded with butter, but ok nevertheless. The best part of the dinner however was the sides and dessert. The sweet potatoes was the best side I have ever had there, they are extremely delicious. The cream spinach is great as well. The service was very good, I was a part of a large group in the private dinning area and was able to try different side items. The mashed potatoes were not that good, and over buttered. For dessert I broke with everyone else who ordered choc cake. I ordered the Apple tart w/ ice cream, it was amazing. Very very good. So everything but the steak was fantastic here. The restaurant itself is beautiful, and they do have a live pianist for your pleasure. Where have I had better steaks in Tampa? #2 Berns, and #1: The Capital Grille, both are far superior.

I really liked the atmosphere at this restaurant. The decor is very elegant, and no cell phones are allowed in the dining room. It is clear that they want their customers to relax and enjoy a fine dining experience with no distractions. There was a line to get into the dining room, but there was immediate seating in the lounge area, so off I went to the bar. It was stately and quiet even in the lounge, but the place still had a casual feel to it. The wine list was very nice. The selection was a bit limited compared to some I've seen, but I was pleased with the offerings presented. According to Ruth's Chris' website they offer over 100 domestic and imported wines. Given the quantity served (the glasses were large) the wine by the glass was modestly priced. I settled on a Rothschild red. The menu was very interesting. Like the wine list, it wasn't exhaustive but it had everything I was looking for. Although the steaks are without doubt their specialty, the seafood selection was adequate and the shrimp I had were delicious. The side dishes are ordered separately and I ordered the creamed spinach and mashed potatoes. The waiter was very helpful. He warned me about the large portions that are typically served (they are "family style"), and put together a "half and half special" so that I could still try both the spinach and the potatoes without having enough food for an army. The salad was a simple and moderately sized lettuce salad. I was grateful later that it wasn't a huge portion otherwise I wouldn't have been able to finish the entree to come. For my entree I ordered a petite filet and shrimp and it was absolutely delightful. The presentation was really neat: The steak was sizzling loudly as the waiter brought it to me. This is a specialty of Ruth's Chris'. They broil the beef in an 1800 degree oven and serve it on a plate heated to 500 degrees, thus the sizzling presentation. The seasoning was delicious both on the shrimp and the steak. But the remarkable thing was indeed the steak. Living in Iowa most of my life I have eaten a lot of good Midwestern corn-fed beef, but I don't remember ever eating a cut as tender as this one. Everything I had heard about it was true. It was moist and juicy and, as they say, melted in my mouth. Ruth's Chris cuts their beef in larger sizes than some restaurants (12-22 oz.) in order that the larger cuts will "retain their natural juices during the cooking process." They've really got it down to a science. The sides were very good. The creamed spinach was first rate, although I think that the creamed spinach at Lawry's was perhaps a bit better. And, my waiter was right. The half portions he gave me were more than sufficient. By the time I was done with my meal the thought of dessert was a cruel joke. Speaking of my waiter, by the evening's end he was like an old friend. He was kind enough to give me a complimentary glass of Beringer's Night Stalker he had recommended. It was as good as he said it would be. He definitely made my experience at Ruth's Chris more enjoyable with his friendly, knowledgeable, and thorough service. The cost of the meal was reasonable for what I would consider to be a rather upscale restaurant chain. The quality of the food and service was as excellent as their reputation had indicated that it would be. It was a very pleasant dining experience in every way, and I highly recommend Ruth's Chris Steak House to any business traveler. Especially the one who's looking for a first class steak!

The only good thing about this place is the food. My best friend held his birthday dinner here and there was a total of 16 people all together. Their service was horrible this place is supposed to be fine dinning at its best and when you come into a place like this expecting to b waited on hand and foot. Not here, our bill for my husband and I was $151.19 we paid over $20 for gratuity and a $4 admin fee like what the hell is that? I've never heard of that before. I am a big tipper and don't mind tipping $20+ dollars but when you wait 30+ min to get your order taken and well over an hour for dinner to arrive, then another 20+ mins afterrrrr they cleared the whole table for them to come ask us if we wanted our checks and then 20 more minutes to get the check is ridiculous and unacceptable. We got there at 6 and left after 9. I'll tell you we were checked on maybe 2x in the hour we waited for our food. The waiters weren't friendly and had no manners. I would not recommend anyone to come here! If anything order takeout.

What can I say. It's my favorite steakhouse. The cowboy rib-eye (a bone-in cut) is always incredibly flavorful, juicy. Perfect marbling and aging. The filet is fantastic, and they even do a great job with lobster (and actually have good sized, tasty ones. Not the tiny ones you see so often these days.) Great Bernaise sauce, wonderful sides (although, a la carte and pricey as is so common in steak houses. They have potatoes 7 different ways and spinach two ways - what's not to like.) Even a solid Caesar salad, though I personally prefer grated parmesan cheese instead of shaved. I think the shave detracts. Good croutons, and a solid, homemade dressing, though. The bartender knows how to mix drinks, and the new bar is amazing, and often has jazz bands playing. Makes for a very nice atmosphere. The creme brulee is good, but I would stick to the fresh berries and sweet cream for dessert.

Swanky and hip. That's how I feel whenever I walk in this joint. The piano man is always playing a fun new song on the piano and that's when you KNOW you want to stay there and grab a drink at the bar. I like sitting in the bar area because it's less intimate and stuffy. You can just relax, nobody rushes you in the bar area. =) We come for the steak we stay for the fabulous drinks. This is me and the Feyonce's go to spot when we're in dire need of red meat, Porterhouse to be exact, medium rare and juicy.. You go here because you know it's going to be good day in and day out. It's that comfort feeling that you know you'll be satisfied when you leave. You get several servers when you sit at the tables at the bar. Your water is always filled and they check on you all the time to make sure you're OK. =) Even when you sit at the bar the bartender is there at your beckoning call. Cocktail drinks are on point. I had a refreshing cumcumber and gin drink. Plus side- They have happy hour so if you don't feel like spending that money on that big piece of steak.. you can satisfy your hunger with a burger or the steak salad (which is a total tease and i love it) they have specials and everything so don't let the fancy steak house intimidate you go inside and find out for yourselves! They won't bite unless you want them to.
