The place is a bit run down, but for buying the best garlic bread i have ever had in my life with the change in my car, you cannot beat it. The fresh bread smells absolutely fantastic. Usually dont get all the way home without a few pulls off the end of a fresh loaf.

Yes. Saturday morning bread for our homemade egg sandwiches. I've grown up on this Cuban bread, it's absolutely delish. A little salty crunch on the outside, soft fluffy bread inside. Peel off the leaf first! It's a rinky dink facility, not fancy at all. Meant to crank out the bread, not for looks. Cash only. The bread goes stale quickly, which is fine with its simple recipe. No preservatives. It's meant to be eaten fresh. However, here's a great recipe for homemade bread crumbs using leftover stale bread. You'll need: Parmesan cheese Italian seasoning Salt Garlic powder Add these to taste. Store in a Ziploc or container for weeks of goodness. My Grandmother used to use a cheese grater to get a finer crumbs. Her breading coating was always light and fluffy.

This place deserves 5 stars because (1) they hand roll and bake breads on site daily (2) they are open almost 24/7, I think they close for a few hours on Sunday (3) delicious Cuban bread (4) the largest loaf you will ever see; and (5) no preservatives or filler crap. The lightly crispy exterior crumbles and gives way to a soft airy center. Since there are no preservatives, this will go stale after a day. They offer these jumbo rolls that are about 3 feet long - no joke. They also offer smaller rolls. CASH ONLY!

Not as good as La Segunda's, but when you're on this side of town, it doesn't get any better than this. Word to the wise-put your bread in the trunk. Otherwise half the loaf will be gone before you get home.

I have always bought their Cuban bread. When flying wasn't such a chore, I would buys 6 loaves (yes I folded them) and take them on the plane. I did not put it in checked luggage. The people asked me all kinds of questions and I hope if they returned to Tampa, they went and bought some. I took it back to Virginia and froze all but 1 loaf. Best bread ever. Good toasted and untoasted.

So proud to have a gem of this caliber in Tampa. Cuban bread is as subjective as abstract art, what kind do you want? So we did it. Mark H. and I staged the ultimate Cuban Bread Battle! The abridged results are as follows: This location is pretty customer friendly with an ATM/cash only set up, and features long, skinny, blander, extremely pale loaves while leaving their entire baking operation open to public eyes. While Casino Bakery wins for flavor, I wouldn't dare place a prized cut of pancetta, capicola, or say mortadella in a bolder tasting Casino loaf and leave my precious meats fighting for flavor superiority within. I'd probably place them snug inside one of these crispy suckers, or if you are into inner fluff, a Segunda loaf. We are extremely lucky to have three delicious interpretations of Cuban bread here available super fresh which in the end, makes all the difference. Can't shove a whole loaf in one day? It's freezes well too, but like I said-it's hot fresh, and so available because we live in Tampa!!

OMG , I have been to bakeries and bakeries. The cuban bread here is always fresh and literally to die for! I have always loved their pastries and bread and I am not a bread person per se. I have a party to attend with an Italian theme and I gladly took the garlic bread! With my special toppings on their cuban bread...LOL I am a guaranteed winner in taste, texture and flavor. I am confident in my toppings and in the bread product I purchased. Winner, winner Italian dinner! What's a girl to do? Purchase the best ingredients to make her culinary treats be standouts among the crowd.

We love this bakery for the Cuban bread. Freshly made, hand-rolled bread is irresistable in my family. My mom used to take us there after work, and we would've eaten the whole loaf before we got home. Things to know: They're open 24 hrs. Cash only, but there is an ATM there ($2.50 fee). $2.50 for a loaf of Cuban bread (as of 7/16/2012). Only a handful of parking spaces out front, and be careful as Armenia can get busy.

My girlfriend and I were eating at The Refinery on the upstairs patio, which overlooks this bakery. When we saw it was 24 hours, and saw that at midnight, they still had a fairly consistent stream of people stopping by, we walked over after our meal. I thought we were just stopping to check it out, but next thing I know, my girlfriend is asking if they have any of the small cuban rolls (no, they weren't ready), and so she buys a full size cuban loaf. Has to be 2-3 feet long. We were full, but we tore into that thing. And then again during a 3 hour drive the next day to Palm Beach. Holy hell is this bread delicious. Flaky and crispy on the outside, soft and wonderful on the inside. Fantastic. Seriously, there should be one of these on every corner, or at least, on my corner.

The Cuban Bread here is authentic and delicious! They also sell fruit pastries and are a "cash only" establishment. You just can't go wrong!

Love their bread, love that they leave on the palmetto leaf. It smells so good when you enter. We didn't put the bread in our trunk last time. We ate a third of the loaf driving back home. It's so chewy and good.

A fantastic Cuban bread bakery. Sure, they have some pastries, empanadas, etc., but the reason to go here is the bread. If you get there around 11am or later you will get loaves baked the same day. If you get there earlier you tend to get what was baked late the night before. Nothing wrong with either, just a tip in case you aren't using the bread right away. Cash only, but they do have an ATM.

As I was waiting in line at the bakery in Publix to get some pretzel rolls, a woman in front of me ordered an apple fritter. She seemed embarrassed as if a grown woman should never order a donut for herself, which is insane, that is one of the greatest thing of being a grown woman. You can get a donut whenever you want. Anyway, she turned to me as if to say she was sorry for being so frivolous and went on about how Publix makes the best apple fritters and she just can't resist them. That's when I knew, I had to write this review. While Mauricio Faedo's Bakery may have excellent Cuban bread, I'd pass it up 10 times out of 10 for one of their apple fritters. The size of a large man's hand, these will run you $1.25 a piece. If it means going to Publix to search their parking lot for change, you have my permission, just don't buy a donut there. While most apple fritters are dry with lots of cinnamon to disguise the fact that there are no actual apples in it, this fritter is warm, buttery, and practically falling apart because it's being held together by apples. The first tray gets put out at 7:30 a.m. and I've never been able to pick one up after work as they sell out quickly so get there early. Cash only.

Am I the only one that asks questions like where can I get real cuban bread like the one on my sandwich? Well, I must be cause I do not see a review on this awesome bakery!!! Okay, if you like brownies and petite little danishes do not go here. If you want some Cuban bread then GO HERE!!!! I got mine and was a little disappointed that after spending my two dollars that my loaf didn't look as long as the 4 foot loaves behind the counter. The gal told me that in order to get it in a bag they have to break it in half!!!! LOL!! I felt so dumb!!! It was still hot and I asked if she sold butter but she didn't. I had some the next day and spread my Brommel and Brown all over it and WOW!!!! Next time I will make my own Cuban with it!!!!!

Oh my gosh......this is beyond insanely good.....this is like run people off the road to get there first -- kinda good! Mauricio Faedo's Bakery is a family-operated Cuban bread shop located in the same area as some of Seminole Heights' hippest restaurants. You'll find Mauricio's on Florida Avenue, a couple of blocks south of Hillsborough Avenue, on the right-hand side of the road as you're heading south. Roll down your windows as you get closer and smell the aroma of the incredibly-fresh baked bread, and then look for the white building on your right. Parking is tight at the little lot in front of the bakery. Mauricio's specializes in homemade Cuban bread, donuts, pastries, meat pies, devil crab, all of which are made with quality ingredients and no preservatives. While waiting to place your order and pay for the goodies, you have the opportunity to stand there and watch the bakers roll out and bake the fresh dough. Please try NOT to drool on the glass cases! I stopped in this morning to pick up some fresh donuts and pastries to take over to my client, and then stopped again on the way home for some fresh-out-of-the-oven Cuban bread for me! The smell of the fresh bread is just amazing, and I kept wanting to pull over and tear off big hunks of bread to eat as I drove home. Mauricio's is open 24 hours a day, Monday - Friday, but they close Saturday at Noon, and I believe they have shortened Sunday hours as well. This is a cash-only place, so leave the plastic in your wallet, and pull out the folding green stuff instead. I don't care what kind of a diet you're on.......fresh Cuban bread trumps rabbit food any day of the week! Save the salad for tomorrow, and pick up some loaves of fresh Cuban bread from Mauricio's.

The cuban bread here is amazing and its obviously made on site. It wont keep for more then a day and 1 roll is actually 2 in one so you can definitely be good with a single pack. Its cheap and good cuban bread not much more to say!

This is a major supplier of Cuban bread, retail & wholesale. Easy to pop in as you cruise Florida Ave or W Hillsborough and pick up a few warm loaves. I even got some whole wheat loaves there once at dirt cheap prices. Beyond standard Cuban bread & some good rolls, there is not much other selection or sweets/pastries but what you get is primo. And for those that do not like Cuban bread.....shame on you and enjoy your new home in Pinellas County where you can get Wonder Bread with mayo.

While Mauricio Faedo's isn't my first pick for Cuban bread in Tampa, it's the only place I know of that you can get fresh Cuban bread pretty much any time of the day (or night), so it's convenient. If you catch it when it's fresh out of the oven, it's awesome. After that, it goes stale pretty fast. Make sure they don't give you a burnt or darker loaf when you purchase your bread, those aren't very good at all. Overall, I'd say it's good bread, but I've had much better in Tampa. I'm a big fan of a Cuban loaf that is crispy/flaky on the outside and soft and chewy on the inside. Mauricio Faedo's is too hard on the outside and not chewy enough on the inside, in my opinion. Hence the three stars.

Stopped by on an afternoon of checking out the local eateries in this part of town. Saw the sign and nearly locked up the brakes as my hot bread alarm went off. Faedo's is a huge commercial bakery that supplies many of Tampa's Cuban sandwich shops along with La Segunda Bakery. There was little variety of product left at the time, but of course, the always-ready package of two loaves of hot Cuban bread was available. And yes, you'll need both loaves because you're likely to eat half of a hot one in the parking lot. Don't worry about what others think, because they're thinking and likely doing the same thing. And in fact when I pulled out of the lot, the young ladies in the SUV next to me smiled as much as their dough-filled cheeks would allow and lifted their hunks of bread in a toast (see what I did there?) to our mutual yet permissible gluttony. My scores on a Cuban bakery scale: Atmosphere: 1 Service: 4 Food: 4 Value: 5

One of only two bakeries left in Tampa that hand roll the bread, add the palmetto leaves and bake to perfection. Pop by and get a fresh from the oven perfect loaf, crack open a tub of butter and prepare yourself for Heaven. Also: They carry those wonderful crumbly cuban sugar coookies and other baked goods... but lets face it, the bread is the star. Nothing can touch these loaves.

This is Cuban bread, pure and simple, no cakes or fancy stuff. They so have turnovers and sticky buns, but don't come here looking for pie. What you will find, 24-6, is the freshest, most delicious Cuban bread anywhere.

I picked up some hot and fresh Cuban bread earlier and it was soooo good! I would also highly recommend the butter bread which is really Cuban bread with the butter already on the top. This is one of the last true Cuban bakeries so lets all do our due diligence to frequent it so it stays here in our wonderful city!

La Chica and I decided to have a Cuban bread battle... A "Batalla de Pan Cubano" if you will. We hit up Casino, La Segunda and then Mauricio Faedo's and grabbed one loaf from each. Then, we headed back to la casa, armed ourselves with nothing more than bread knife and some mantequilla. La Chica's mom saw what was going on, and she couldn't resist; she wanted in on the action. One slice each from all three bakeries, and the tasting began. The results were stunning to me because I grew up on La Segunda's bread. It's what The Green Store (Interbay Meat Market) and the Commissary (MacDill AFB) both carried, so I thought for sure, I'd like their's the best. But this wouldn't be the case, because in the 90's I discovered Faedo's. From the first time I walked into their massive, well-located bakery, I fell in love. I SWORE they had the best Cuban bread. For almost 20 years, I have been stopping by Faedo's whenever I had the chance, even taking loafs to other cities in the state to friends who aren't lucky enough to have Cuban bread in their back yard. So mentally, I thought Mauricio Faedo was going to win the battle. But this wasn't the case either. It's really hard to put familiarity, nostalgia and personal bias aside, but when I did, I found that Casino came out of the battle untattered. La Chica and her mother agreed with my findings, but for them it was easier with no emotions attached. Location-wise, Faedo's makes it really easy for Tampanians to get their Cuban bread. And just like Casino, they're a cash only business. However, they do provide unprepared customers with a safe ATM located right inside the front door. + for Location - for Taste - for Cash only + for providing an ATM
