Been hearing about this place for a long time and finally had a chance to try it for its "fabulous fried chicken". Sorry, but it had no flavor at all...just tasted like a fried piece of meat - no spice or anything. But, the black beans were some of the best I've had in Tampa - that's what brought them up from 2 to 3 stars. Won't go back though.

Love's Street Kitchen is one of those places that you hear about from diehard chowhounds. What a place!!! Okay, it looks at first like it is one of those gourmet food trucks common to cities such as New York and San Francisco, or even LA but it is on Macdill near Gandy in South Tampa. Love's is one of those places that is a food underground find. I tried the ribs and this huge salad that was AMAZING. Lynn, the chef and proprietor had this car lot anc switched it over to his love (yeah)- food. You can order and take the food into this great space which is retro themed. I saw that many media sources like I think CBS had a story on him. He is a total find and if you are interested in good grill food, not necessarily barbecue, you should totally give it a try. He is supper sweet and a real personality. His veggie sides are very tasty. I tried the spinach and it was not too done. The salad I had would be called a "garbage salad" in Chicago as it had sliced chicken, lettuce. tomato, almonds, pesto and I don't know what else. Now, I am not a ribs expert but wow. Succulent and delish. You may not agree, but I think I would be bring a date here in a heartbeat. The space inside is airy and unique. I don't feel like I am in a Panera community here. Love's is must try.

They have a fun menu with unique items. I have only tried the fried chicken since seeing a episode from drive, dives and diners. Wished they had other side dishes. They have a Sunday brunch for under $20. All you can eat and drink :)

Let's start with the interesting story about how Love's Street Kitchen came to be. This place used to be a used auto dealership. The owner decided to pursue a different passion and Love's Street Kitchen was born. A quintessential street-side diner, Love's at first sight comes off as a watering hole. Yes they do have a variety of beer on tap and the wrap around bar does take up 60% of the space. Take a closer look at their menu and you will be surprised by the variety of choices offered primarily Southern favorites such as barbecue, fried chicken and shrimp and grits. I started with their Grilled Hearts of Romain - slightly charred crispy olive oil, salt brushed with freshly grated parmesan cheese. This dish can be a favorite for even those who are not fans of Romain (like myself). The ribs sampler offered perfectly done tender ribs that fell off the bone with finger licking goodness. The fried chicken however was a tad bit greasy for my taste though the crisp factor was right on the money. I also tried the grits and if you are a fan of grits you will walk away completely satisfied. Love's is a must visit again to explore some of their other offerings, and I can't wait for that chance.

Love's is by far the best BBQ in the S. Tampa area! I never was much of a "food stand" type of gal but this stuff rocks! I used to drive by this food stand several times a day and finally I stopped - I am now officially hooked! Love's Street Kitchen was at one time Love's Auto. The owner (whom is the nicest guy), is selling off his auto business, after some 20 years or so, to pursue his passion of food. He is currently serving from his jazzed up food stand/trailer until the official restaurant, in the same lot, is complete. And I'm telling you, if his food stays this good - he is going to have lines out the door! The food is freshly made and from scratch. My fav is the rib wrap. For only $8.95, you receive the biggest wrap known to mankind!! It's filled with rib meat of course, all of the usually wrap goodies and rice - very filling! It also comes with 2 sides, I usually get the sweet potato fries and hush-puppies. If you're in the area, or even if you are not, you've gotta try this place out. There is limited seating outside but who cares, it's worth standing for!

Great date night atmosphere. Live music on the weekends, a yummy weekend buffet, and the BEST Bloody Mary in town! The atmosphere is shabby chic with a combination of eclectic artifacts from yesteryear. This used car lot turned diner is a must for great food & laid back crowd.

This place is now named, Love's Artifacts. The food is middle of the road and the crowd is primarily 40-60s. I've been here twice, and I have always seen grandma cougars dressed to the nine's. The atmosphere is weird and there is no TV in the bar area.
