We loved this place! My husband got the west Tampa Cuban and I got the pork sandwich. Both were amazing. We also got the yuca fries and cheese fondue which were delicious! It is evident that they make everything from scratch. The owners were both there and were super hospitable. I highly recommend this place!

Delicious little sandwich shop not too far from the airport. We came for an early dinner before our flight back home and since we didn't have too much time we decided to give this place a try as it had the quick eat and go vibe. Inside the restaurant was quite nicely decorated, you can definitely see its pretty new and clean. The sandwiches are absolutely freshly made with speed but also with care. The cheesesteak I had was very delicious as the steak themselves are much thicker cut than the usual quickie places I've been to. West Tampa sandwich was great as well with lots of meat and beautifully pressed. Both are pretty much a steal at around $7-8 and definitely can fill you up. The yucca fries though I thought was a bit less in portion but still tasty none the less. The owner was very friendly and helpful while we were there and if I had another chance would definitely be visiting again. If you're in the area visiting like we did definitely recommend it for a quick stop grab and go. The seating area is a bit limited but the food is definitely well worth the price.

So good! Really tasty, thoughtfully crafted sandwiches. The guys who run it are super nice. They think things through, ingredients are placed in a manner so they don't slide out. Fresh avocado. The special meatloaf sandwich was awesome.

This is a quaint little shop in an unassuming plaza. The sandwiches are what it's all about. They make all of their meats in house which takes lots of time and dedication! I tried the west Tampa and the pork drizzle. The west Tampa won my taste buds over with the soft Cuban bread, smoked ham, corned beef, roast pork, pickles, mustard and mojo mayo...mmm. This sandwich hit all of the flavor profiles. The pork drizzle was good, just missing some seasoning and a little tang. Go check this place out!

These sandwiches are ON POINT!!! I had the Grilled Chez, avocado, gruyere and bacon it was amazing! My sister had the West Tampa, basically a Cuban on steroids (yeah, like Canseco). She couldn't even finish it because it was so big! My brother in law had a Gonzo burger, the namesake and crown jewel of this menu - braised pork, house bacon, caramelized onions, and your choice of cheese. Truly a great lunch! In fact, we may have to scale down dinner! Check this place out, start with the yuca fries, you won't regret it!!!

I think they could probably improve restaurant traffic with an improved sign (large letters!), because the food will definitely bring folks back!

This place is everything I love about local gems - quirk, hole-in-the-wall appearance, amazing, fresh food, and cool staff. I had the Grilled Chez and yuca fries, and neither disappointed. Their menu isn't as expansive as say, Wright's Gourmet House, but I think that's really a sign of how good they are - smaller menus lets you focus on doing a few things amazingly well rather than just good. Definitely going back today!

Ok so I tried this place for the first time today due to how many people kept telling me its a must try. I will say they were right! The sandwich I ordered was really good and meaty. You can really tell everything they use is fresh and made in house. The dining area is really small though still has a comfortable feel. They have a decent size menu ranging from sandwiches salads burgers etc... They also have a kids menu featuring peanut butter and jelly and grilled cheese sandwiches. Everyone that's read my reviews knows I don't give out five stars easily. What put this place over the top for me was their great customer service. They were very friendly and helpful. The owner himself made our food brought it out and cleared our table. They made us feel right at home witch was really nice. I have not one bad thing to say here. I can't wait to return and try another one of their delicious sandwiches. If your on your lunch break or just out with the family this is the place for you. The parking lot is kind of a pain to get in and out of but that's not on them.

I'd give them a 3.5, but I'm rounding up for the excellent service. Cute little sandwich shop tucked away in a small minimall on Himes. The staff is very friendly and attentive. I had the Pork Drizzle sandwich. The bread wasn't toasted as much as I'd like, and I found the meat rather bland. I ended up adding a ton of hot sauce to help, but it wasn't the same thing as a well-seasoned roast pork.

Ate here for lunch today and the food/service was outstanding. I had the pork drizzle and side of mac cheese. Both were great and the two guys working the the little shop couldn't have been nicer. Can't wait to go back and try something else.

Gonzo's is a quaint little sandwich shop located on N Himes Avenue that recently just opened. It is in a small shopping plaza that you will miss if you blink. The restaurant is small with minimal seating but very clean. Billy and his staff are very attentive and friendly. Prices are reasonable and the food is good. I love that the menu is limited so you don't have to make too many decisions. We ordered the West Tampa, the Billy Cheesesteak, and the Yuca Fries. The prime rib in the cheesesteak was very tender and I enjoyed the sweet taste that the peppers had infused in the meat. The Yuca Fries with the Mojo Mayo were fantastic! My companion enjoyed his West Tampa very much, as well. We got to the restaurant a little before lunchtime and it was fairly empty. When we left, all tables were full and there was a line at the counter. Looks like Gonzo's Sandwich Shop is turning into a neighborhood favorite. Stop by and give them a try!

I put this on my top 5 restaurants for lunch hour. Small, Clean and welcoming atmosphere. Craving the Pork Drizzle sandwich. They know how to bring the best out of their meats. Can't wait to try the Jive A Turkey. Thank you for bringing this gem to the Tampa community. Didn't give it a 5 because the AC temperature was a little too warm for comfort. Will do takeout until it cools off. Otherwise ENJOY!

My new favorite sandwich shop in all of Tampa! Owners care about the food they are serving and take the time to get to know their customers. The everyday menu is more than enough but they have some killer specials too. Would definitely recommend coming a little out of the way for a great sandwich, no matter what you order.

I tried Gonzo's today but was really disappointed given the 5 star reviews. I had the Yucca fries and Billy Cheesteak. The meat in the cheesesteak had a strange taste to it, only finished half of it and didn't care much for the yucca fries either. Won't be returning.

Absolutely wonderful food! We had the pork drizzle, bada$$ turkey, billy cheesesteak and the grilled chez. We shared 2 orders of yuca fries. Meat on the sandwiches was fantastic. Real meat not "lunch meat". I would order any if it again but we really want to go back and try the other sandwiches.

One of the best sandwich shops we have been to...and we travel a lot! We had the buffalo chicken sandwich, the billy cheesesteak and the yucca fries! All were AMAZING!!!! Our kids loved their sandwiches too! The service from Bill was wonderful and the food is extremely fresh. The facility is very clean! We will be back!! But we would love a location in North Pinellas!!!

This is a nice little place tucked away on Himes next to an oriental massage parlor, so if you're like me and get hungry after having an orgasm this place is for you. It's clean with several golf themed ornaments throughout the restaurant. Billy the owner was very friendly and hospitable and his cousin, who was taking orders, despite rocking baggy sweat pants, was friendly as well. I was there with my brother, we ordered the cheesesteak, the West Tampa, Onion rings and fried Yucca. The sauce that came with the yucca was delicious but I was a little disappointed in the portion of the yucca, the same could be said for the onion rings, these were handed breaded, which I respect because it is difficult to pull off from scratch, the breeding could use some more seasoning and as a suggestion I think Tempura batter would hold better. The sandwiches were the best part, the west Tampa in particular, a delicious combo of corn beef and pulled pork ... I think .. Can't remember honestly I just remember it was awesome. The place is new and is working out some kinks but billy is on the right path and I will be coming back to try some more.

tried this place after getting a haircut at my new barbershop...all I can say is amazing... Great service... Clean establishment and food was absolutely amazing... I had the Philly cheesesteak which was one of the best I've had in Florida... If you haven't check this place out yet make sure you head over and give it a try
