This posted address is now incorrect, since the restaurant has moved from the smaller location a bit further north on Armenia to the current larger location that was formerly NoHo Bistro, that has moved to South Tampa under a new name. Castillo's is a better than average Cuban cafe with great daily lunch specials, super desserts, and very good fresh pastries/pasteles for breakfast. Family owned and operated with very efficient, friendly service. It demonstrates the high quality of food north of SoHo, but with lower prices and less pretension.

Great quick bite close to airport (15 minutes) . Pork dish and spaghetti with crab sauce was awesome.

It wasn't very hard to find since there's not many other restaurants in the area, and parking was also easy with the private grass lot across the street. The location isn't in the best part of town and not too many bright street lights nearby, so heads up. I think one of the brothers had mentioned that they are planning to move to a different location on the same street but closer to the interstate with a lot better street lighting, so that should be nice. The place itself is cozy, having a handful of tables inside and a few more out on the patio, a very homey feel. The brothers are very friendly and even offered us a complimentary dessert because it was our first time there. We went on a weekday for dinner. Having lived in Miami for a couple months, I have been on a hunt for some quality Cuban food. Good news, this stuff is pretty solid. I had the pork chop, which is absolutely drool-worthy, and the flan was amazing. I wish, however, that they had empanadas when we went (I think they ran out by that time). They also don't offer tres leches on the menu, which is my favorite Cuban dessert. (I am still hunting around Tampa for some great tres leches. Someone give me a heads-up if you find some!) All in all, the service was great; the staff and owners are so attentive. The food was quality, and I'll certainly be visiting Castillo's again.

The Castillo brothers treated us like long lost family. They fed us amazing treats from their menu. Especially memorable was the shrimp in a garlic sauce and the rich red Spanish sauce with crab meat which they serve over pasta. We tasted too many things to remember but they were all wonderful. The place is tiny but the ambience is like being in someones home. The flan and rice pudding are perfect. can't wait to go back for the seafood paella. One must call ahead for that delicacy. Don't share the secret with too many people or there will be a long line.

Ssshhh this place is a secret. It's a neighborhood gathering place for best comida de casa Cuban food you can get. Freshest fish, daily specials and the friendliest family runs it. Grandma makes a fantastic chocolate flan. Not too sweet, just perfect. The bassa a la russa is amazing, and classic roast pork is garlicy wonderful. Fresh snapper, grouper, king fish. And they don't scrimp on the butter either. But it's a secret...

Went for lunch with the roast pork on my mind. It was not yet ready - still being cooked and made tender. Instead I ordered the Masas de Puerco Frita with black beans and yellow rice. It was quite delicious. Tender, tasty, and melt in your mouth good. My friend had the liver and onions. Looked good and he left a clean plate. Just about any dish is good. It is an old fashioned, homey restaurant. The owners cook fresh every day. Nothing fancy, but great tastes and value. The locals are regulars so you know it is good.

A-M-A-Z-I-N-G to say the least!!! The food was phenomenal, the service was great, although during our visit there was a party of 50 that practically took over the restaurant the owners (identical twins) took the time to greet and seat us. In addition to the homey environment the food was true Cuban cuisine. I had the Arroz con Pollo (estilo Valencia) and it was served in a caldero (pot), the boys had the palomilla steak and my mother had the shrimp creole...YUMMY x 3. Our side dishes comprised of: black beans, white and yellow rice and tostones. All except the tostones reminded me of my mother's authentic home cooked food. It was Mami approved. The HOMEMADE SANGRIA with the canela-azucar rim....was sooooo Celia (Cruz)...rich in flavor, and if you know anything about the infamous Celia and her signature Azuuuuu-caRRR then you know that it was the SHIZNIT, just buy a pitcher one glass isn't enough. We finished the meal with the proper ending...FLAN!!! What's a Cuban feast without la creme de la creme, the Castillo family definitely fit the description of one of the best Cuban spots I've been to, hands down Enrique Castillo and Henry are vibrant and true Cubanos.

Stopped in for first time today (yup, definitely going back)! The fresh Cuban toast was instantly at the table as I looked over the very extensive menu and large amount of daily specials. Had the breaded steak with plantains and it was tender, tasty and terrific. Of course I read about the flan and it did not disappoint. Great local place with fresh food and traditional Spanish flavors!

Excellent food! Paella is the best I've had. Arroz con pollo excellent. Friday and Saturday nights are the time to go. They have special menus for those nights. Sangria is on point.

The crab, the pork, the flan, the bread, the yellow rice. This place was the highlight of our trip to Tampa.

Picadillo was very good. Lots of menu items to choose from. Atmosphere was comfortable and our waitress was engaging. Not every dish is available every day. I'm going back.

Why 3 stars? Because it's solid, but there's a lot of stiff competition. --- --- --- It's hard to compete in a latin-restaurant haven like Tampa. Castillo's is not bad, but it's hard to avoid docking a star for the lack of churrasco steak on the menu. This is my go-to when enjoying hispanic cuisine, but it was sadly missing from the menu. That being said, my breaded steak was very good. This definitely fits into the "good 3-star" category. I did enjoy my meal, but I don't know that I would necessarily ever choose it over a handful of other great Cuban spots. The ambiance is fairly boring...not that I go to Cuban restaurants for the decor on the walls... I am definitely rooting for Castillo's. It's a super-local business, located near just about...nothing...on the corner of Armenia and 275. As I typed that, I imagined a car flying off the interstate and through the roof of Castillo's. Why do I think about the things I think about?

Crab enchilada the basa were delicious. We had a crowd of 8 and our waiter was flawless. The decor was mostly wall paintings by artist Vanessa Ja

Nicely sweetened cafe con leche and absolutely scrumptious cuban sammies. This place is great to just pick up a sammie and a coffee to go or sit and dine. While dining in, I've had their picadillo and pork chops. Both were very good. They bring out buttered bread to the table while you wait, and I'm certainly guilty of grabbing too many slices :) The only cons I can think of: 1. No refills on sodas. They serve them by the can. 2. The waitress at lunch doesn't seem to really understand the check splitting deal. She usually brings one or two checks out at a time and then runs a credit card or two at a time. This doesn't seem efficient for her, let alone for us! I'll still keep coming back though. It's too yummy to pass up!

Stopped by for a quick bite before the airport. A good bite before going to the airport, especially if you need to smuggle food on to the airplane so you don't starve on the plane or pay for terrible airport/ plane food. The Cuban didn't seem anything spectacular, but the service was quick. The sand which was about forearm length for a reasonable price. I'm not quite sure how this Cuban sandwhich differed from your normal sub or poor boy sandwhich. Note the Cuban still tasted quite good on the airplane. An worthy stop before the airport, if I'm back in the area ever again, this is where I refuel and pack for the plane.

This place it hit or miss. Their crab enchilada is really good and their spaghetti is pretty good also. The lasagna was down right awful as well as the chicken piccata. The basa is pretty good. Service is very good and it is a nice friendly place.
