Came back again and had the Dizzy Duck I believe it was called, and man was it good. How many places do you know has a great tasting ground duck burger? The cherry compote, arugula, and blue cheese paired with it so well. At the moment, this place has become my favorite burger place in town.

Awesome little burger joint, a little off the beaten path, but worth the search. All natural ingredients and grass fed beef. Really good. Try the Texas Twist burger which combines beef with Chorizo for a little kick. The only knock would be the stark decor, but that's obviously what this place is about. It's about the burgers. The strawberry shake was excellent too.

I really enjoyed this place! Went for lunch and ordered the Texican Twist which was delicious. We sat at the bar area and I'm glad we did for our first time there as we got to watch the magic that was happening in the back and got to interact more with the wonderful staff. I got a rewards card to keep track of the burgers I've tried so needless to say, I'll be back!

I ordered the Greek lamb burger with onion rings and it was good. Second trip ordered the duck burger and it was good. That being said the onion rings and fries are ok but missing a little somtn somtn. .

Liked it. I thought it's a place like regular burger place but its a different touch. I liked it. I went for evening snack and had a buffalo Chicken Burger. I can say more like healthy burger. I took out 1 star because of pricing. Bit costly but worth it..... Will visit again soon..

The trendy, burger stand provides a thought-out menu with head-over-heels burgers and other scrumptious handhelds. Riding high in popularity, Vertigo provides a sterile atmosphere for its customers. From businessmen to construction workers, you'll find everyone in between looking to get their burger on. The Triple Throw Down contains a few of my favorite things: bacon, blue cheese, caramelized onions and horseradish sauce. The burger was juicy and mouthwatering. My only qualm would be the lack of horseradish sauce to give the burger that extra kick we all love. Maybe the sauce is prepared on the mild side, but I expected more of a punch. Unfortunately, fries aren't included with the burger, jacking up the price to over $10. They offer full orders and half orders of fries. The onion rings are spectacular and I wish I ordered them this time around. The skin-on fries are just too salty; extremely over seasoned for my liking. I'm already eating a burger and fries, the extra salt for my impending heart attack isn't required. Ultimately, 10-minute ticket times, friendly staff and tasty burgers are a win-win situation. Again, I can't emphasize enough the overall cleanliness of the restaurant. Also, the hip décor from the street invites the high traffic street corner in for a quick bite. Even Scottie Ferguson's head would spin at for a Vertigo burger.

Great burger place! Busy but efficient on a Saturday afternoon. You order at the counter and they bring it to your table. We had our food in about 10 minutes. I got the round here burger which was awesome! Perfectly cooked, loved the cheese and the thin onion. The hubby got a Vertigo Burger which has a fried egg with a perfectly runny yolk, he loved it! We ordered the grilled chicken fingers for my son (who is very picky), and he gobbled them up. We shared onion rings, sweet potato fries and regular fries. All were amazing, crisp and well seasoned. We will be back!

It is a nice little place to grab a few beers and eat some burgers with your buddies. The menu has all these unique combinations of burgers. They range from ones with chorizo, horseradish, quinoa, jalapenos, truffle cheese, or even a duck burger. I love the range in the choices and hopefully I can try more to figure out the best here. The beer choices also tend to stay fairly local and I like how they stick to supporting local crafts. When I came I just got the Vertigo burger since it is the name of the restaurant. A beef burger with a fried egg, bacon, and jalapenos the combination was great. They cook their burgers medium, so ask them if you want it another way. The size of the burger is so tiny though that you definitely need to order fries or a shake to make yourself full. Some people complain about their fries, but I liked the plain salt and pepper seasoning taste. The service is generally average and the prices are kinda high. It sometimes feels like it is trying to be something greater than it really is, though it is not bad at all.

Just stopped here for lunch with my coworkers. I had passed it a few times and decided today was the day. Went ahead and ordered a "Greak Burger", which is basically a Gyro in burger form. It was good, but nothing to talk about. I didn't order a side, but I hear the onion rings are great. Vertigo is a good place to go ahead and try, but there are certainly better burger joints around Tallahassee. Dig In!

The best thing Vertigo has going for it is the creativity in the menu. 12 clever burgers and sandwiches with interesting ingredients, delicious combinations and pun-tastic names keep you guessing and wanting to try more. I feasted on the "Round Here" burger, which uses ingredients local to the Tallahassee area. Score! Meat from KBH farms in south Georgia, Sweet Grass Dairy cheese from the Thomasville area and vidalia onions, locally farmed arugula, plus vertigo sauce -- a mayo based sauce. The burger was good sized, juicy and cooked to my preference of "medium," and served in a sleeve on a silver metal cafeteria tray. For $1.95 more you can get a half-side of fresh cut fries, but I wouldn't recommend it. Basic, basic fries with no seasoning or flavor and not worth the price or calories unfortunately. Maybe trying something else would give me a pep in my step after leaving Vertigo, but for now it's just A-OK.

Fabulous juicy burgers with buttery bun. I search the country for perfect burgers! While these are on the small size- easy to finish with the delicious fries and a beer. Good beer selection with fun tasting nights with nearby breweries. The toppings make these burgers unique- tremor truffle cheese, bacon, aioli. Duck burger. Small dining area but nice to sit outside. Very casual but tasty burger - if you are a foodie. Pimento stuffed jalapeño. Yum!!!!! Try the triple throw down or vertigo burger. Top in my list.

Five stars for quality of burger. Fries and rings are done just right. Diverse burger menu that holds its own against caboose/Welles brothers and certainly chains burgerfi and five guys. Glad we returned. Our first visit was during opening week, nearly two years ago. Today's visit was an absolute home run. Cashier (Macey) here since day 1 was very attentive and made our experience that much more pleasant, as did the guy who was working front-of-the-house with her. Very happy to see a TLH based original scoring home runs in the burger park.

Pricey but delicious! Great local beer selection. Not your everyday burger if you want a fast food burger this isn't your place. Will definetly return next time I come watch fsu lose in football.

Had the lamb burger was awesome. Also got their onion rings which were pretty good. For the price and what you get its a pretty good deal. I am definitely going back because these guys can make a good flavorful burger.

Meh. I want so badly to like this place but it seems that everything is just okay. Burgers are upwards of $8 and don't come with fries, so it's also overpriced. Tried the shrimp burger, which had potential, but the okra made it slimy. Have also tried the duck burger, and it was dry, had entirely too much bleu cheese, and lacked a decent portion of the cherry compote topping that drew me toward it in the first place.

I had been hearing about vertigo for a while from multiple parties, healthy people and people who just love food alike. I decided to give it ago with a friend and see what it was all about. The decor is decent, nothing really that strange or spectacular, but what I can say is this location was packed. I decided to get a greek out burger, a lamb patty along with what you would normally see on a Pita at a greek restaurant. I had heard a lot about their specialty burgers and it seemed like a good idea. I was not disapointed. Everything was delicious and brought out qucikly after we ordered. The burger it self was so juicy and delicious, full of so many flavors I was not really expecting. This is no preseasoned pre formed patty. I also got a side of Onion rings. i don't really know about that. They were not as crispy or hot as I was expecting, which makes me feel like i won't be ordering those again. But I can't wait to go back and try something new. I know it's going to be great.

High quality burgers!! Nice staff. They could be more generous with the fries though! Could be open longer too.

If I had a complaint about this place it would be the servers and they're love of hand tattoos. Me,personally, this is a MAJOR red flag...but the food is just so damn good! It truly is fantastic food! The hand tattoos cost this place a star. Sorry...but as a tattooed person...had tats kill a place.

Few burger places stand apart without going overboard. This place is simplistically different... Simple ideas that culminate into a treasure of different possibilities of taste... but still... simply great spins on the hamburger. Worth every penny for every bite. The onion rings were how onion rings should be. ONION RINGS! And the service was attentive and awesome. Thanks guys! Out of the park!

Burgers are good. But I'm that person with a kid pallet that needs good fries with the burger and I am not a fan of the fries sadly (I am picky about my fries). I just can't eat a good burger without fries I like, its just not a complete meal then :(. None the less, I still get the burger to go because they are delicious and then I go pick up my fries somewhere else and eat the two together at home so I don't look like a wierdo and can enjoy a good burger with good fries together happily.

A friend and I were planning on ranking the best burger places in Tally and Vertigo was on our list based one previous visit, each. After trying it again today, Vertigo is definitely going off the list. I just went for only a burger and quickly realized the fries and my friends were the reason I enjoyed it so much last time. The burger was decent but pretty small and expensive; but nothing I couldn't get for $5 less at Steak'n'Shake. My burger and drink was $11 plus tax and not filling or satisfying.

I came here with a few friends and once again, I'm impressed with the [slowly] growing food culture in Tally. This burger joint is putting a gourmet spin on an American classic. Considering my current obsession with anything that has truffle as well as my affinity for eggs, I was torn between the Vertigo Burger and the Tremor Burger. I decided on the Tremor Burger -- beef burger, truffle tremor cheese, applewood bacon, sauteed mushrooms, and a roasted garlic dijonaisse. My burger was a perfect medium (as requested) and all the flavors worked together beautifully... harmoniously dancing on my taste buds like perfectly composed music. Luckily, my friend agreed to share his Vertigo Burger -- beef burger, fried, egg, applewood bacon, griddled jalapenos, sharp cheddar and "Vertigo" sauce. That was one awesome burger. Breakfast on a burger... what's not to like?! Everything was excellently prepared and the jalapenos gave it a great kick. Along with that, we got orders of the sweet potato fries, regular fries, onion rings and cheesy bacon fries. The regular fries were my least favorite - limp and not crispy. The sweet potato fries were well fried, not too sweet and served with an herbed bacon mayo. The onion rings were great -- very lightly battered and crispy. The cheesy bacon fries were artery-clogging goodness -- loaded with cheese and bacon, garnished with green onions and served with jalapeno ranch sauce. They also have a few salad and dessert options as well as several beers on tap. And considering it's a gourmet burger place, there are no "combo deals", so expect to spend $12-$16/person. Personally, I think it's well worth it for the quality of food you're getting. So overall, the service and food were great. I'd definitely come back here for their unique burger combinations and I would certainly recommend this place to any burger fanatic.

Absolutely my favorite burger in Tallahassee! Chorizo straight up! The atmosphere and staff are pleasant. The tea and fries are always fresh. Definitely a place to try out!

Pricy as the sides are extra, but the burgers are the best in town. Milkshakes are also amazing and nice beer selection.

For ordering at the counter and the food only being mediocre I wasn't too impressed that my husband and I spent nearly $30 for burgers and fries with some teas. It's a 5 guys style by ordering at counter but less taste. I'm not sure they seasoned the meat. I find it odd that they automatically serve their burgers medium because kids, seniors, and pregnant women can't eat that but whatever they cooked mine med well without trouble for me. I will say they can cook a true med well (slightly pink) most places miss the mark there and cook more like well done. I recently moved to tally but have heard of other burger places that are better. I'll be trying them next.

Just finished two bland bugers with cheese that wasn't melted on them served on cold buns. How you overcook kids chicken teders is beyond me. That and fries stuck me for $27! Don't waste $5 more for their 3 oz. homemade sangria. Stick with FIVE GUYS.

My mom and I went and had to admit to my dad that we may have found burgers better than his. I had a special flavor that isn't listed on the menu but it was outstanding! They have such an interesting combination of flavors! It is on the pricey side but bonus is that they actually will make it however you want! Nooo well done burgers for this girl! That's a good sign for a burger joint too since it means they grind the beef in house and don't risk contamination. The inside is simple, some good seating and some outside. May be hard to find for some people since it's off a side road and I can imagine their lot gets full when they're busy. We didn't try the fries since the burgers looked huge and it was $20 just for 2 burgers. Pricey but worth it for not only a fun flavor on your burger but a really really good BURGER itself. Props, Vertigo!!

Thai good tastes good enough, I didn't like that I have to go to the counter for a refill. Plus I had to ask how to order just a regular burger that didn't have some obscure/random topping. It came across as a little pretentious. The staff was polite and helpful, but the hipsters hanging around are me want to hurry and leave

  • Chase H.

Stopped here to grab a take out burger and I was pleasantly surprised. Employees were super nice and the atmosphere is pretty laid back and simple... burgers, groes, and beer. I ordered a regular burger with skin on fries and they absolutely delicious! Burger was full of flavor and the temp was perfect. As a warning to others, they cook the burgers to medium by default but they warn you of this. Will definitely come back for more!

Everything on the menu sounded amazing, and I wanted to like this restaurant a lot. They use quality ingredients and house a great casual environment. Sadly, the food and the lack of seasoning do not do their menu creativity any justice. I wouldn't mind the pricier menu if it tasted better, but I probably won't be back. I've had better at Monk's, but I applaud their innovation and hope they strive for improvement!

My Vertigo experience was... Odd. I'd give a 5 for the food. Straight up excellent burgers, fries, and onion rings. The service, however, was weird and left a lot to be desired. My husband and I wanted to sit at the bar and have burgers and, most likely, more than one beer. When we were ready to order, we let the woman behind the bar know (we hadn't been asked after several minutes, drink order.. Nothing..) and she actually instructed us to get up from our barstools and walk to the cash register to order.. And then close out! No option for continuing to order from the bar... And no offers to do so. We would have probably spent at least another 15 on beer, dessert, etc... Bad, strange business model for a restaurant.

Several different types of burgers, fries and onion rings and several craft beers. We tried three different burgers and they were OK but not great. They all had a char taste that just seemed off. Not sure if they are chared on a grill or flat top, but ours almost has a little burnt taste. We all got 1/2 fries and 1/2 onion rings. The onion rings were pretty good. The fries were disappointing. I was hoping for really good fries, but these didn't get it done. At the same time they were not crispy, but overdone. Maybe they were in a warmer too long? They didn't have the crisp like you would get from a double fried fry. Overall just an OK visit. We probably won't be back. If we are in the mood for high end burgers we will hit Wells Brothers.

I freakin love the burgers I've had here. The ambiance is very very relaxed and barebones. Not the type of feel that makes you want to stay a while. More like a eat and go type of place. Very much like a Five Guys vibe. Not really a problem. The service is great. They have it easy b/c you order at the register and they just bring it out. I have been asked for refill and they have taken my empty tray before so they won't neglect you. Now the burgers are fantastic. I've had the chorizo burger the Going Green burger and the Duck Burger all of them are unique and taste amazing. I've had a couple other I don't remember but is never had a bad burger. Their sweet potato fries are good. And the quinoa salad is good. I wish it was a little wetter, it needs a dressing. They have beer too mostly crafts. I wish it was close enough cuz I'd eat here more often. They also come up with new burgers all the time that they will have on special. I think that is super cool and shows an effort to constantly improve and experiment. If you want a good burger look no further.

  • Keagan W.

The burgers ARE amazing. They were better than I expected, but they were very small for the high price. The fries looked like they were seasoned but didn't taste like it and were pretty soggy and bland.

  • Keeley M.

Let me first say: I am not the biggest fan of burgers. That being said, Vertigo made me a fan of at least their burger--the Tremor burger. Goat cheese, mushrooms, bacon...it is basically perfect. The only thing negative I would say is that the fries had a bit too much salt for my liking and the onion rings were nothing special. The wait time was not bad either and they bring your burger to the table. It's a small restaurant that is lacking in decor, but it is perfect for a quick meal.

    (4)
  • Mich H.

Great food. You order at counter and they bring food to you...if you are looking to be waited on this is not the place to go. Our table had various burgers, mahi mahi sandwich but with a lettuce wrap instead of bread and one had the vegetarian sandwich, a Greek salad and fries and sweet potato fries. They were all phenomenal. The Greek salad was excellent but small so if you are ordering for meal you may want to order 2. The fries and sweet potato fries were crispy and totally yum. Will definitely be going back!

This place has several great things going for it. The staff is nice, intelligent and upbeat. The menu is creative. Love their choice of bun. The food was HOT when it came to me. The burger was cooked to my liking (med well - not burnt). The ingredients don't look or taste cheap. (Ex.: I think they use Vlassic pickle chips and they've got a snap). The owners were on hand, happy, and not micromanaging. The restaurant is clean with a fun look to it. The downsides are: 1. Wish the hamburger patties were similar in size to bun. They're thick but smaller diameter. 2. O-rings were a little greasy, 3. Straight up Burger (basic cheeseburger with American) was kinda plain. Maybe some special sauce or seasoned mayos to choose from? (Check out Kuma's Corner, Chicago) 4. Bar could use a foot rail for us shorties. I was hoping this was going to be a "Got to get the T-shirt" memorable experience. Maybe next time.

Burgers and flavors fine. But the burger bun was COLD and not warmed or toasted. It was COLD. Was this a mistake?

    (4)
  • Jennifer S.

Place is nice - trendy. Air conditioning seemed to need an upgrade. We were cool, but the employees were drenched. Food was better than average. I ordered a straight up burger. It was a bit too juicy and hard to eat. I think it's definitely worth another try.

These are among the best burgers I've ever had. And let me tell you, I have eaten my share of burgers. Burgers are like, the entire bottom of my personal food pyramid. I recommend the 'round here with turkey and a stumpknocker IPA. You're welcome.

Ono..Dos..Tres..Catorce..the opening line of the hit U2 Song Vertigo and coincidentally the maximum time in seconds it will take the owners of The Vortex in Atlanta to sue the owners of Vertigo for Copyright Infringement if they ever visit Tally and see this place...If they say imitation is the sincerest form of flattery the owners of The Vortex must be blushing worse than a virginal bride on her wedding night..lets count the similarities: One word title starting with a V...Vortex--Vertigo Catchy Slogan Vortex..It's never too late to start wasting your life Vertigo..so good it will make your head spin Gourmet Burgers with interesting toppings..both got them Lots of Craft Beers...both got them Shirts for sale on the way home...both got them Now that that's out of the way lets talk food and beer at the Tally Outpost of The Vortex..err Vertigo...I had the Burger with Bacon..Bleu Cheese and Carmelized Onions..split order of half fries..half onion rings...and a Founders Centennial IPA..this cost around 20 bucks which is a little high for what I got...the burger while tasting pretty good was a little on the small side for the price...the bun was way larger than the burger which to me is always a major no no...they were however quite generous with the bacon and the bleu cheese..the fries were just ok while I thought the onion rings were the much better option..the beer was great and I have to say the bottle and draft selection was very good...one area where this does not compare at all with The Vortex is in ambience..this is just a plain Dining Room with zero ambience unlike the former which are quite eclectic..all in all I would probably give this place 3.5 stars but I am deducting a star for their blatant ripoff of someone elses idea so it's getting 2.5 stars from me...If you are a fan of gourmet burgers and craft beer I would get here as soon as you can before The Vortex gets a cease and desist order filed against this place

It is a fancy burger and fries joint. And sure it is a little on the pricey side, but it is well worth it. There is a large variety of burgers on the menu, and creative specials. Sides are a la carte, but delicious. Good beer on tap. The whole family will approve, except the guy paying the bill. Until he gets into his Round Here Burger. Then all will be well.

    (5)
  • C B.

Round Here is literally the best burger I've ever eaten in my life. Love when restaurants in Tally use local ingredients, so that's a bonus. Great beer selection too. If I'm in a hurry or looking to save money, 5 Guys will do; otherwise, Vertigo is as good as it gets. Highly recommend.

I have been in a burger mood lately and Vertigo came highly recommended. I tried the Southern Spin Burger and it was DELICIOUS. I didn't use any condiments and it was still full of flavor. I am not a tomato fan but it did have a Fried Green Tomato on it and it was so delicious. Definitely recommend it!

Saturday evening we realized we were out of Earth Fare peanut butter, a true staple at my home. EF is on the far side of town from us, so it's a bit of a trip (especially for peanut butter!). What to do? I know, grab dinner while we're out. And there's a fairly new place called "Vertigo" that I've heard pretty good things about. Vertigo occupies the former Looper's Subs location. It's been cleaned up and spiffed up, but still casual. (I'm always on the lookout for CLEAN). There are low top, high top, bar, and outside seating areas - someplace for everyone - and lots of people were enjoying Tallahassee's November spring weather on the patio. We opted to sit inside to watch and evaluate the staff. Ordering is straight forward, the most difficult part is deciding on what item to try. You can get shrimp, veggie, chicken, and lamb versions. But it's called burgers and fries, so that's how we went. My partner selected the Southern Spin - fried green tomato, pimento cheese, and creole remoulade. Signs said all burgers are cooked medium and that's how she likes hers. I decided to try the Triple Threat - bacon, blue cheese, caramelized onions, and horseradish sauce. I asked for mine cooked medium rare with lots of pink. I added a half order of regular fries. How did Vertigo do? The Southern Spin was cooked rare, almost red in places. My partner decided to go ahead and eat it rather than wait for a reorder. The burger was well flavored, and loaded with pimiento cheese. In fact, overloaded would be a better description. We like to taste the burger over the toppings and not have dominant condiments. The creole remoulade was visible, but its taste was not detectable. The Triple Threat, requested on the rare side, was much closer to medium - very little pink. The bacon was quite food, and the Bleu cheese flavor was a complement to the burger. I like caramelized onion, and Vertigo did a good job. The horseradish sauce, which would have really sparked up the burger was, like the Spin, visible but not flavorful, I detected no horseradish bite (a big DARN here). There were still fries. And it does say burgers AND fries. I was anticipating greatness after the disappointingly limp Five Guys offering. Alas, twas not to be. My order looked good - nicely golden brown. But inside was limp and mushy. To be fair, the potato flavor was good, but the consistency could use some work. I'd offer the suggestion to double fry the potatoes. If I wanted to open a burger shop, Vertigo would be a pretty good model. And with a few tweaks, Vertigo could be the 'gourmet' burger go-to in Tallahassee. I'm sure we'll go again, but I'm going to be quite a bit more specific about how I want my food. A high point for Vertigo is the staff. Nice smiling faces go a log way to making a visit enjoyable.

Excellent burgers and fries! The lamb burger was delicious on the Greek salad! Also tried the onion rings and they were yummy! Will be back again when I'm in Tally!

The interior was simple and clean and the staff were friendly and greeted my husband and I with warmth and enthusiasm. The menu was refreshing with its interesting mix of traditional and "fancy" burgers and we were both very excited to try it for the first time. What put a damper on things was the price. For two sandwiches, two drinks, and an order of fries it was close to $30, but I got over it quickly thinking that surely the food quality and taste must be worth the price. We didn't wait long, which was nice considering many of the other reviewers complaints about the kitchen being slow. I ordered the Chicken Ranch and my husband ordered the Greak Out. My chicken was cooked well, but the jalepeno ranch it was dressed with tasted neither like ranch nor jalepeno, which was disappointing. The fries, though cooked well, were nothing special. My husband's burger was, again, cooked well but a bit bland. In short, I really wanted to like this place, and the food was good... just not $30 good. This place is either going to have to kick it up a notch on flavor or come way down on their prices.

My girlfriend and I stopped by the Vertigo earlier this evening to try out some of their gourmet hamburgers and we were pretty impressed. Parking seem plentiful outside but that may have just been the time we went (5 pm on Sat). The inside of this primarily burger joint reminded me of a Chipotle - nothing fancy but clean and serviceable with tables or high tops. They also had some flat screens in the corner with some of the games on. Once you get inside, you can grab a menu up near the register and order there. We both researched a little before we went so I knew that I was going to get the Vertigo and she was going to the Tremor burger. We also got a full order of onion rings on the side that we shared. The prices may surprise some people and the burgers don't come with anything - you have to order your sides separately. That means if you're not sharing the sides, you'll probably be running up to $13 - $15 a person with a drink. Once we ordered, we probably waited about 10 minutes or so before they brought the food out to our table. The burgers looked pretty delicious - piled high with toppings and dripping with juices. Both of our burgers tasted outstanding - perfectly cooked, soft buns, just the right size, and some delicious toppings (runny fried egg on the Vertigo and truffle cheese on the Tremor). It was pretty much an explosion of juices when I took a bite out of mine. The side of onions rings were crispy but pretty much lukewarm for some reason so they weren't all that great. Still, we ate them all and there were plenty for the both of us. Overall, this is nice place with some delicious food if you can stand a little higher than normal prices for a burger. The quality of the burgers seemed worth it for us so we'll likely be back.

Anyone that charges $9 for a burger and is unwilling to cook it medium rare is off my list. Then when the fries are a la carte and soggy it's a real bust. Nice to see decent beer on tap, but a lot of other places have decent beer and a lot better food.

Ordered the Triple threat burger, husband got the Vertigo burger. Both really juicy but not too greasy. Flavors were great, although the Triple threat's horseradish could have had more of a kick, and I would have liked more caramelized onions on it. The buns are really good and soft. Sweet potato fries pretty basic but done well, also really liked the smoky mayo sauce they came with. Onion rings had good flavor but are the thin cut, sparsely battered kind (if you like thick beer-battered type rings don't get these!) The price is where I take off a star. Paid $21 for two burgers and one side. Also, the chairs are uncomfortable and there were flies flyin in our face! Would def go back if I had a coupon though.

Great burgers, Fries, and onion rings. Creative menu and nice selection of beer. Biggest downfall is the price. What could be a restaurant on the weekly rotation will be on the once in awhile when I am along and the reason is because of the price. I had a burger, ala carte fries and onion rings combo and a beer, with a 3 dollar tip was $22; which is crazy! You could sit at the bar at Cypress and for a couple more dollars have a fine dining experience. Yes the food and service is great, but I would be hard press to bring the entire family.

A little pricey for a burger joint (most menu items are around $10), but definitely worth it.

Best burger in town. Ignore the naysayers and try it.

This place is hit or miss. I know a lot of foodies. They seem to like this place. But I've had some presentation issues. They put a large block of blue cheese on my burger. I like blue cheese. But the food ratio... the mixture was bad... uneven. So, some of the burgers are great the others not.

I really want to like this place but they make it hard. The burgers are okay but I can think of a half-dozen places in Tallahassee that do them better. The onion rings flat-out sucked this time. It's like they dropped them into the fryer in a big, frozen wad so that some of them were essentially steamed. They've obviously got Shake Shack pretensions but at this point they fall short of What-a-Burger.

I've been to Vertigo several times since it opened, and I'm a huge fan. The eponymous Vertigo Burger (with fried egg and jalepeno) is still my favorite, but I've also had the Round Here, the Southern Spin, and the The Big Fuss, and they've all been great. The fries are good, but go for the onion rings, as those are exceptional. They also have a great selection of beer (although I am disappointed that they didn't end up having Turbodog on tap). You'll pay more than you would at other burger joints, but you'll also be getting a better burger. Give Vertigo a try.

Local, grass-fed beef, available at a restaurant?!?? When I first heard about this place, one of the first reviews I read (I think on Yelp, though maybe somewhere else) that their burgers were too salty, and I was nervous because I am really sensitive to over-saltiness compared to other people I dine with. However, the Round Here burger is perfect. I am trying out the Paleo thing, so I get it with extra (local) arugula instead of a bun. It also comes with local cheese, which is delicious. As a co-op, local food-type, this made me so happy! Especially that the beef is grass-fed, whether it's local or not. I don't know if they'd be willing to make one of the other burgers with the grass-fed beef for an upcharge, but it seems like they would. I don't do fries or soda (again, Paleo), so the $10 meal is a fair price, and the food quality will keep me coming back! The only other place in town that does local food that I know of is Miccosukee Root Cellar, which I also enjoyed well enough when I went there, but this is a great spot for a good, ol-fashioned burger!

This is a tough one to describe. The burger was...good. Not a bad burger. The fries were...good. Not bad fries. The burger, (half order of) fries, and drink (Coke) were $20 together. I was cool with that, because I thought it'd be like their t-shirts say, 'so good it makes you dizzy'. It was good, it just wasn't anywhere near $20 good. If I got in and out for, say, $12, I'd go back several times a week. At $15, I'd consider it, rather than driving to Atlanta for Flip Burger or Farmburger or Holeman & Finch. So for me and the significant other, it was $40. For 'not bad' burgers, fries, and cokes. At $20 we won't ever see them again. Just 'not bad' won't get me back for $20 per person. The burger was also small-ish. I'm still waiting for the Tallahassee burger spot that can save me from having to fly to New York or drive to Atlanta. Vertigo isn't it. I'd rather spend for the plane ticket than pay $20 for a $12 experience. They had a good idea, just poor execution. Go before they're not around any more.

Great place for a gormet burger and beer or wine! The staff was very friendly and the manager made me a special custom sauce for my mahi burger which was over the top great! Took the whole family and everyone was happy and full by the time we left. We will make the trip again from Orlando (300 miles away) to get to Vertigo!

I don't usually eat out for burgers, but I visited Vertigo while I was having a huge hamburger craving during my first pregnancy in 2012. I like their burger size (which some people have problem with), seasoning (not too salty, just right), done-ness, and freshness of the ingredients. More details found here: jihyechang.com/wisdom/20…

This place blew my mind. I walked in, and it was super busy so I was worried, but I ordered and was delivered my burger very quickly. I ordered the Truffle Tremor burger, it was amazing. I was drooling after the first bite. I can't wait to try all of the burgers!

Vertigo is arguably the first "gourmet" burger restaurant in Tallahassee, and I couldn't be more excited! (Perhaps the other being Monk's, though that's a far more undergrad vibe joint.) The trend has been around for a few years in larger markets, a la The Counter or Umami Burger in Los Angeles, but things being what they are in Tally, it's taken us a few years to catch up. Vertigo, from what I hear, is owned and run by the same folks that run Cypress - and I'm a big fan of that establishment. I've not written up a review for them yet (perhaps I finally will now), but Cypress is one of the few truly top tier restaurants in Tally where flavors are layered, presentation is clearly considered, and is quite consistent with what comes out of the kitchen. I see the familial resemblance in the food, and if you've ever had one of the burgers at Cypress' bar during happy hour, you will too; flavors in the burger are clearly enhanced, not covered up by cloying sauces/accoutrement and the beers on tap are an interesting assortment of microbrews. The decor is simple but hip, with an obvious attention to detail revealed in the playful arranging of boring industrial light fixtures into fun zigzags. The walls are a bit barren currently (8/4/2012), but I have a feeling more artwork will be going up shortly. All that said, I'd give them a few weeks to get their legs under them (today being 8/4/12). I suspect that this week or two was meant to be a soft opening, but the management didn't dream to think that Tallahasseeans would be so excited by a new burger restaurant. We had tried to eat there last night but were told (in a highly professional and friendly manner, btw) that orders would take close to an hour and a half and that they were also actually running out of beef! So, we went back today at about 2:30pm, expecting the lunch rush to be over and for their protein shortage to have been taken care of. The rush was over, but food was still a little slow (30+ minutes) and though the burgers were really good, they were not quite the awesomeness I was expecting. Before you think I'm launching into an indictment of Vertigo, I believe the quality issues we experienced were just symptomatic of a far more busy opening than the proprietors were expecting. I'm really excited about the place, but I believe a few weeks of seasoning will help them smooth out systems. So, here's the review of the food: I had a really mouthwatering lamb burger, but it was a little less pink than I like in a good burger and the meat patty only covered 75% of the bun. The patty itself was thick enough, it just didn't have enough of a large diameter to cover the entire (large) bun. Also, the chicken club burger was really tasty too, but it only had one lonely slice of avocado in the hulking mass of food. However, the onion rings were an unqualified awesome! Hand battered and seasoned with some salt and pepper. Good stuff. Again, I think the issues we had were just symptoms of the restaurant getting absolutely slammed during their opening week, rather than a systemic issue. I saw hustling everywhere, and a lot of teaching and learning happening in the front and back of the house. All good and I'll definitely be going back as they work the kinks out. PS: If you're the management and reading this, I implore you to keep standards high at Vertigo like you do at Cypress; Tallahassee seems to allow for a complacency in the restaurant biz that lets standards to sadly sink. PPS: Again to Mr./Ms. Proprietors, I'm sure you're going to see copycats soon. Are you going to have a schtick to help identify you? Like Umami Burger has managed to get umami (probably dashi) into everything, including their ketchup and The Counter claims to have 312,120+ burger combinations...just a thought!

All you burger people that are stuck on those classic american inspired burgers and have thought about jumping out of your comfort zone, go to Vertigo and order the "Greak Out" burger. It is worth the jump. It's a LAMB burger, first one I've ever had. It's amazing. It's so much better tasting than beef, my opinion, so that's plus number one. Then, instead of keeping it here in the USA, they take it way over to the Mediterranean, and give you fresh tomato, red onion, feta cheese, pepperoncini peppers, kalamata olives, and tzatziki sauce?! It's exactly what you would expect if you traveled to Greece and wanted a burger. You get to taste the Greek's tangy and savory notes over there, plus there amazing tzatziki sauce idea, without having to travel out of the country. Go to Vertigo now and get one. It's here in Tallahassee. And I think their buns are made fresh there too. It's amazing. Go now. *..oh yea, if you're like me and like a beer with your burger, the Orange Blossom Pilsner went well with it. Microbrews!!

I've been to Vertigo Burgers and Fries three times in the last week or so. Here's what I've gathered: The burgers are very tasty but pricy. A burger, fries and a drink will easily run you 15$. The regular fries are well seasoned but not very good. Specifically, I was hoping for a lovely crispy fry and have only ever gotten soggy, mushy "bleh" fries. Now that would be fine by me if the name of the restaurant was just Vertigo burgers instead of Vertigo burgers and fries. My advice is to skip the fries and go with the onion rings. They are light, crispy and well-seasoned. The service is slow. I was there when they opened (at noon) on 08/13 and was one of the first customers to put my order in, even then, in a less than half full restaurant it took over 20 minutes to get my food. Yesterday, I tried the home-made lemonade for the first time and it's wonderful! It's not too sweet so it's very refreshing. When I went in over a week ago, they didn't have a recycling bin for plastic products. I asked the manager about it and she said that they were just getting their feet off the ground and that sort of thing would come later. So far, still no recycling :(. All in all, it's obvious that they are overwhelmed by the response they've gotten. Maybe they're just not used to the faster pace dining environment of a burger joint than an upscale restaurant but for 10$ a burger, and previous restaurant experience, I expected much less of a learning curve than they've demonstrated.

My son picked out this place from Yelp and it was a great choice. He had the Mahi burger special and devoured it and I had a plain ol burger. Also had sweet potato and regular fries and they were excellent as well.

I don't mind paying for good food...but when it's $14 for a burger, fries, and a Coke I expect something exceptional. Not what Vertigo delivered. My burger was very dry (overcooked?) and the fries were average and under seasoned. The Coke was good, though, and it was refilled when requested. You can find better burgers at half the price at several other places in Tally.

This place will be wonderful once they get their groove going. Yes, it's pricey, but I didn't mind once I tasted the burgers. My husband had the Tremor, and I had the Round Here. Both were perfectly cooked (medium rare for both) which I appreciate because normally when I order a burger out, it's overcooked. I can't complain about the size of the burger, but I also never can finish a meal at any restaurant. It was a great serving for me, and we shared fries/onion rings that were also delicious. Small, but good craft beer selection, and super cold. I will try the home made lemonade next time though. We sat outside with our dogs, which was also nice. It was busy, but being outside made it seem less so. You are definitely paying for the food, not for ambience, not for service. The woman who brought out our food was super nice, but she said the wrong order when dropping it off, which led to me bringing my husbands burger back inside to clarify. It was the right order, but for whatever reason, she was confused. Since it was so busy, I felt bad for wasting the managers time, but she was also very accommodating. The staff should definitely provide direction on how to order, or put up a sign, because we entered street side since we chose to sit outside, and it took me a few minutes to figure out the process. We went on a Saturday afternoon, so I can't imagine how packed it would be during the business lunch hour. I'm going to give it a few months before even trying during that time. Very tasty, and if they don't have an ingredient such as other yelpers have described, cheese for example, order something else or leave, because that's what you're paying for!

As much as I'd love a burger place in the area, I just found this place disappointing. My burger didn't taste particularly good, and I didn't feel well shortly thereafter.

Had the texican twist and an order of onion rings. Definitely hit the spot. Burger joints may be a dime a dozen but the truly good ones are rare. I will definitely be back to try out the rest of their menu.

The service was fast and friendly and the overall experience was good. I had the Texican Burger. Very good burger but extremely small for the price. Two burgers and split a full order fries with water....almost $23. Ouch. The burgers seemed smaller when the waitress brought out the food. Not my usual spot so it may be awhile before I go back. Too expensive.

Had the Straight Up and a half order of fries (which was plenty!) Really liked how they seasoned the fries and the burger was top notch - all fresh ingredients and cooked perfectly. Just the burger I was looking for. Though I did take out, enjoyed the atmosphere of the place as I waited - would be a fun place ot hang with some friends for an evening.

We stopped in for a visit mid afternoon for the 4th day being open. The feel is similar to that of 'Flip' by Richard Blais in ATL. Prior to placing an order, we were informed that they were out of many of the ingredients necessary to make their burgers and that there was a wait of over an hour. The potential is certainly there for Vertigo, they just need to work the kinks out. I'll give them another shot in a couple of weeks.

Have given this place a few tries now. Not even close to happy. The burgers are not great, not even close to hitting the mark. I've yet to have a burger cooked to the correct temperature. Also have gotten the wrong order twice. The sides were blah and overcooked. The wait was very long all 3 times. The server/employee seemed nonplussed at the fact that all but a couple of bites were gone from our trays. Had high hopes.

Was told by countless people to try and finally did it was well worth it, staff was very friendly and the food was well portioned for the price and I will be sure to try many of the signature burgers my next time around. Vertigo burger was an A++!!!

Disappointing. Food was average, and WAY overpriced. Burger, onion rings, and a drink - 15 bucks! The staff was very nice, though. Sorry, won't be back. Too many other choices in Tallahassee.

Easily the best burger I have ever had in Tallahassee. I got the Southern Spin, which I highly recommend. All the flavors worked together perfectly and the food was incredibly high quality. It is a tiny bit pricey, but you get what you pay for. Seriously. The staff was pretty nice and we got our food in a normal amount of time even though the place was packed. The inside is really clean and sleek -- and there is plenty of outside seating as well. The one annoying part was the parking, it took a second to figure out how exactly to get into the lot, but who cares.

I enjoy going to vertigo. Their burgers have a unique little twist to them, and their side sauces are very delicious. However, I think it's a bit pricey, a burger+a side+drink will run you about $18. But you get what you pay for. Overall I would definitely go back.
