The only reason I come to The Melting Pot is for dessert. It is just too pricy and smells like fish/ something wierd for me to have a full dinner and dessert there. That said the dessert is amazing! My husband and I only get the small chocolate turtle and we always have more than enough for both of us. Usually we will get a coffee or espresso martini with our chocolate fondue. The lighting is very dim and romantic so we enjoy it for the 30 minutes that it takes us to have our dessert!

Three of us ate here in April 2007. As others have said, it is damned expensive; I recall generally that our meal was upwards of $150. To me, no food is worth that much, but it's not horrible if you are into fondue (I'm not). Service was excellent, as well it should be. We've also been to the Melting Pot in Tampa and one of us had been to the restaurant in Asheville before it closed.

the place is gimmicky and expensive. there are so many other places out there with good food and better value for the money. if you want fondue, buy a fondue kit for $25 and cut your own pieces of meat and fruit. you will be able have fondue anytime you want without paying for the price tag of $50+ per person.

From the very moment we walked in the door, we were greeted with a friendly smile and I was wished happy birthday by the hostess. That was a GREAT first impression. When I asked directions to the restroom, she offered to escort me to the hallway so I wouldn't get lost. Just really going the extra mile. Valerie was our server and she was extremely pleasant, informative and attentive without being "in the way". She made great suggestions on things like entree prep/oil and when she mentioned she was adding garlic to the cheese fondue, we told her we love garlic. So, she added more for us and then added more again for the entree without us even having to ask! She provided exceptional service and you can tell she loves her job (which can be rare these days!) The manager/owner stopped by with a birthday card that was signed by several employees and that was such a great surprise! Again, he had a big smile and we felt like very important guests. The food was awesome. My husband's favorite entree protein was the steak and while I also love the steak I am now hooked on the salmon. We went with dark chocolate/ marshmallow/Oreo for dessert and it was AMAZING!!! Even when we headed to the door after our meal, the hostess opened the door for us. So, great first impression and great last impression and everywhere in between! Great job, The Melting Pot - Tallahassee! We will be back for sure!

I love going to this place; I just wish we could afford it more often! It's pretty pricey, but my boyfriend and I always have a great time coming here. Expect to spend over $100 for two, including tip, if you do the four-course meal. Service is ALWAYS top of the line, and food is always fantastic.

Everytime I've been to this Melting Pot it's been a wonderful experience! Friendly and knowledgeable staff, great atmosphere (A little dark but makes for good ambience). The managers always stop by to say hello and check in. Personally my crew and I tend to skip the 4 course and go right for the cheese and dessert. Bananas foster fondue is outSTANDING and the unlimited dippers are much appreciated. My last trip I had a blackberry sage lemonade (it's non alcoholic but they added citrus vodka to it) and oh my STARS was it fantastic! New favorite drink for SURE! Especially good for hospitality night! They always have fun events going on so make sure to like them on Facebook to keep up!

This review is very late, but I have to say how pleased my boyfriend and I were with our anniversary dessert. We came in fifteen minutes before close to get some dessert and drinks. The manager seated us and had our waiter bring us champagne when he found out about our anniversary. It was extremely sweet of them both. It made our night :) We enjoyed the cookies and cream with two coffee drinks that were to die for, as well. The waiter even brought us more dippers without us asking.

Melting Pot definitely lived up to our expectations. Fondue is a ton of fun, but also a safety hazard and the wait staff took extra care to make sure that we knew how to enjoy our meals without burning anyone. I liked being able to make a reservation and being seated right away. You definitely don't want to come past 8 PM if you're hungry because if you have 3 courses you'll probably be there a while - my party of 4 took 2.5 hours for a cheese, entree, and chocolate fondue. Because the prices were so high, my party only purchased two servings of the cheese and chocolate fondue each which was more than enough for all 4 of us (and great on the wallet considering each serving was $8.50). We tried the Wisconsin trio for our cheese and though the cheese was delicious my palette must not be distinguished enough for the sherry base - overall it was much too bitter. Dippers includes some fresh veggies (cauliflower, broccoli, and grape tomatoes), as well as green apples, and sourdough bread. We all tried different entrees so we could do a kind of sampler - chicken dumplings, duck, chicken breast, and teriyaki steak all cooked in the chicken broth with veggies (free option!) Melting Pot also serves six delicious sauces to use along for dipping: teriyaki, orange curry, cocktail sauce, green goddess (which is some kind of sour cream base), yogurt base, and some kind of plum sauce. The chocolate fondue was probably my favorite part. We got the one that was dark chocolate and came with Oreos, marshmallow fluff and lit on fire for an added effect. The dippers for this are not unlimited like they are for the cheese, though. Those included: pound cake, graham cracker coated marshmallows, Oreo covered marshmallows, pineapple, strawberries, and bananas. The wait staff was very friendly and professional and didn't make us feel pressured to get more servings for our table. The lighting is very dim and again you will probably be there forever. One tip is that any pot you get has to be decided on as a table i.e. The same type of cheese, chocolate, or cooking broth for entrees must be decided together because there's only room for one pot per 4-person table. I would definitely recommend if you don't mind spending the extra money - great experience and great food!

Update to my review: although this scenario actually took place and we can't go back and change it, we were pleasantly surprised that the manager of the restaurant reached out to us personally to apologize and invite us back for another meal. I'd say they went above and beyond. They could have ignored the review, but they took it seriously and want to improve their business. That's integrity and honesty. Thank you Sean for caring how your customers are treated.

Its a chain restaurant but I think it taste a lot better in Miami. I just found that weird because chain restaurants are suppose to taste relatively similar everywhere. But still pretty good.

The experience was great. Loved the ambience and cooking your own food is fun. But the actual food wasn't that good to me.

My fiancee and I had finally had the chance to go to a Melting Pot for dinner for one of our anniversaries. We had previously had the Melting Pot's dessert, but have never had any appetizers, entrees, etc. We looked through the dinner menu, which was pretty simple. It was divided in Appetizers, Salads, Entrees, and the "Big Night Out". Though it was an anniversary, and it seemed like the waiter was pushing us towards the Big Night Out, which was a four-course dinner, we really didn't think we could finish all that food. We ended up just sharing an appetizer, salad, and one entree. Appetizer: Traditional Cheese Fondue - This was good. Nothing to rave about though. I found the wine flavoring to be pretty strong. Salad: Spinach and Mushroom Salad - I usually don't like salads, and well I didn't like this one either. My fiancee usually does like salads, and she didn't think too much of this one. Entree: Pacific Rim - Everything on here was pretty good, though my fiancee and I did not take a liking to the duck. The entree comes with 6 different sauces though, 4 of which I enjoyed. Overall the dinner was good, nothing amazing though. And for the price, well I think it was a bit overpriced for what you get. I really think their dessert is their best course though, that's the only reason why I bumped it up to 3 stars. We probably won't go to a Melting Pot again for dinner, but definitely will visit again for dessert.

By far my most favorite restaurant. I love this place. You had better go hungry if you are going for the full 4 course meal. However, expect to spend over $100 for a dinner for 2 to include the tip. Yes, I know you are saying, "SERIOUSLY?", but it is worth an anniversary dinner each year at the very least. Be prepared for a little time as well. I advise going when it opens, as if you wait too late you may need reservations. I also recommend signing up for the newsletter. You get deals and coupons occasionally. If you are not up for the full 4 course you can also go just for individual parts such as the chocolate or cheese.

This is my favorite restraint in Tallahassee. Now I do realize that it is a chain and I have been to several others and they too are pretty good. However this is "my" melting pot. I go at least twice a month. One for ladies night with my girlfriends and once with my husband for date night. Also every special occasion that comes up. Always for my birthday, anniversary or any time my husband feels like he needs to make me happy. When we go we always get the cheese (three cheese is our favorite) and something's the salad I like the caesar (has candied pine nuts i think) and he likes the house. It has a honey mustard type dressing. We always get the Court bouillon as we have found that the oils while amazing for the green goddess stuffed mushrooms tends to be too filling. I get steak and shrimp. He gets fillet and chicken. He also always dumps all the veggies in right from the start. By the end they are extremely flavorful. I would say if you go with like 6 people I suggest you get one oil and one broth. Then comes the chocolate. I tend to be a purist just dark with a shot of Bailys. We only get chocolate for one because by the end we are stuffed. I always get coffee with dessert as well the have great coffee. Their cocktails are great and my husband has purchased a bottle of wine and corked it to go home. I understand that it is a bit pricey but when I go I know it is an experience. I'm there for at least 2 hours. Well worth it to me. Always has been. My first visit was for my 16th birthday. I am now 43. Lastly the staff is above and beyond. The managers Robert and Ryan and fabulous. They always come to say hello to us and they feel like friends. They are super creative and have been doing cool special themes since they took over. I will be going for many years to come.

Been to these places numerous times. Your paying for the experience not so much the food. Our server Larry was attentive and patient as our party of six decided on our choices of styles and methods. The only real complaint was the amount of time we waited for the chocolate portion of the meal. Not sure what the hold up was but 45 minutes is to long.

The Melting Pot somehow feels dated to me. Maybe it's the idea of fondue in general, or the decor (very dark inside) but I'm not sure. I enjoyed my meal but thought it was really overpriced for the quality and portions served. If you're going for drinks, get the Love Cocktail--it is one of the best fruity drinks I've had.

Until "Melting Pot", I had never spent over $50 for a meal that didn't include at least one alcoholic beverage...but I must say...it was worth it. The food was delicious - all four courses. And I cooked my food, fondue style, all by myself. It doesn't matter that the "prep chefs" seasoned it and told me how long to leave the meats/ vegetables in the fondue...I was responsible for the labor. I even paid myself wages through tip money...kidding! The milk chocolate fondue for dessert was decadent. I suppose it helped that the waiter brought us endless amounts of strawberries. I think he heard it was an aphrodisiac. Good try John! lol

The thought of paying to cook my own food has kept me from ever trying this place out. My great boyfriend surprised me with dinner here and I just struggled not to pout at first. Walking in ...it stinks. Can't really remember what the smell was but it wasn't pleasant and the decor just seems like it needs an update. That's about the only negative thing I can say about this place. GREAT service. Cooking the food together at the table gave us great opportunity to just sit back and talk. It was almost like our first date. And far off we can here a group of girls enjoying a night out so definetely not just a couples location. What we ate: The Melting Pot House Salad - great with ranch. Individual Entrées - Signature Selection & The French Quarter (and we were eating off each others plates - everything was great.) Bananas Foster Fondue (white chocolate with bananas) strawberries, bananas, cheesecake, Rice Krispies Treats, marshmallows, pound cake and brownies. (I didn't even like fondue.) I do now! And I even forgot the initial smell (which now that I think about it was more likely raw pork (I don't eat pork)).

First time here. Went by myself.. probably not the place to go alone because if you just get fondue you still end up paying for 2 and the price is only cut for the 3rd and 4th + person. Friendly and professional staff still wouldn't have gone anywhere different. Had the cheddar cheese appetizer which was pretty awesome and the marshmallow creme and oreo cookie choco fondue was the greatest thing Ive ever had! perfect answer for a choco craving!

You know... it's the Melting Pot. Just like all the others. Since it's a chain, you know what to expect. I always loved going for cheese & chocolate. Good atmosphere and decor. Good spot for a romantic dinner for two.

If you want to pay $50 a man to cook your own food and smell like you've been working a fryer at an Arby's for a full shift, this is YOUR PLACE. What this place has going for it is really great ambiance. The lighting is nice and low and seating is comfortable. My suggestion is to have dinner somewhere else and come back here for desert fondue (no scalding oil) and a night cap.

Yeah, it's the Melting Pot so the food isn't any different from place to place. However, the service at this one was much better than other ones I've been too in the past. The hostess was very polite and our server James was very attentive and made sure our experience was wonderful.

I love everything about this place...except when they put you at one of those small tables even though you're eating a whole meal (not just chocolate). The food and service is amazing! My boyfriend and I always get the big night out with the lobster tails. It is a bit pricey, but in my opinion completely worth it.
