Visited a few times now. The grilled chicken blue salad is the bomb. I have noticed that anytime I have ordered anything off the grill that is does take a long time to come out, but I would rather have it that way than it come out to quick like just threw it in the nuker and here you go. Outside patio is the only way to go as the inside is packed with families with kids.

A rocky start to a great concept. Tallahassee is a city in dire need of sauce. I'm not talking booze, but actual dipping sauce. Since the loss of Buffalo Wild Wings, the city has had a lack of a good wing joint. Sure we have some quick places on Tennessee Street, but those are more drop-ins than a restaurant. Hurricane Grill has a lot of promise but ultimately fails to deliver. Let's start with the food. The actual meat of the meals far surpasses any wing joint I've been in. Their wings are large, and other entrees seem to offer a large portion. I was with a party of 6 that all ordered something different. Portion sizes are big, and entrees will fill you up! Sure this place is pricey for what it is, but you actually get a lot of food. Light eaters could probably split an appetizer and an entree. The downside is their sauces. Yes, this is something the restaurant touts in their advertising. The beach theme is carried into the sauces menu, with all 30+ flavors organized into categories ranging from 1 (mild) to 5 (hot). The problem is that even their hottest sauce fails to sizzle. Anyone that is a fan of authentic ethnic cuisine will be shocked to realize that Hurricane Grill's most hot sauce is about on-par with Taco Bell's hottest sauce. It's less of a burn and more of a "peppery" heat. Those expecting to sweat a little will find themselves clamoring for a drink will be disappointed. Frank's Red Hot sauce from the grocery store will topple Hurricane's hottest. As Larry L. has stated, the service here is rough. The lack of a wine menu, slow service, and over all bumpy customer service are all symptoms of a brand new location. I imagine these will all improve in time. Despite the slowness, the attitudes of the staff were positive and responsive. I don't know if I will rush back anytime soon. Perhaps after things have settled or a new recipe announced. This location is designed for fun, which can be a treat for families with kids. Some tables are designed like surf boards and the beach decor is welcoming.

Mac & cheese was watery. My wife said her shrimp tacos were cold. The fries were unremarkable. My mahi mahi were ok. The wings were ok, but the bleu cheese dressing tasted like ranch with very little cheese.

I've been to this place about four times now and am always very satisfied. We moved away from Tallahassee two years ago and have used this restaurant a few times to meet up with several friends several friends for a group dinner. Last night we called 45 minutes in advance and when we arrived, they were ready for the seventeen of us. Good happy hour prices and pretty good food. I don't know how often the bands play outside but the past two times, we've gotten to enjoy good music after our meals. If we lived in Tallahassee still, I think we'd be regulars.

Good wings - great range of flavors. ordered 15 (1/2 trifecta/1/2 honey chipotle, with ridiculously hot on the side) and they were mostly flats - just as I would have ordered it. This place is clearly a fun joint for live music in the evenings. I'm looking forward to returning and perhaps evening upping the star rating. Nothing negative to report here, just nothing that stood out to merit beyond "A-OK". I'll bet a few more trips here could change that though.

I have been here a dozen or so times and it is typically a meeting place for me and my friends due to an extensive menu of wings and beer. I give this place three stars cause typically something suffers - sometimes it is service, other times it is the food. I have had semi-warm wings served to me that seem to have been par cooked and then reheated for my order. I have never walked away with a solid experience. I will come back, when invited, but when I go out for wings on my own, I don't typically chose this establishment on my own.

This was my third visit to this location. I've been to the Hurricane's in Jacksonville several times, so I knew this was a good place, and the Tallahassee location finally delivered. No appetizers this time, but on a previous visit I shared the garlic-parm fries and fried pickles. Both were excellent, especially the pickles with the cyclone sauce (a personal favorite for the wings too). On this trip, I ordered the ten boneless wing dinner with fries and slaw. Sides were good, wings were excellent - warm, tender, and not too heavy on the breading. The Gold Rush sauce was a nice honey mustard with some heat, and the Category 4 hot was a little warmer than I remember. Overall, the service was quick and friendly, the food was great, and the beer was cold. I hope (based on prior reviews) things are starting to turn around and Hurricane's will be here to stay.

very mediocre food. none of it tasted fresh. the tortilla chips and kettle chips tasted stale. bright lighting and chain-restaurant feel. plus side, good beer selection & fish dip was good (not the chips accompanying it, though).

Love the food. I have not yet tried something I have not liked. The service can sometimes be less than stellar, but then again the only times we have had bad service it seemed it was a teenage waitress who acted like she wanted to be somewhere else. So I wouldnt hold that against the restaurant.

I will start by saying this just might have been a bad night but it seems as though this restaurant is going down the wrong path. We called ahead and still had to wait for a for over an hour even though they said " we are just waiting to bus the table... Talked with the manager who could have cared less about our concerns. Server started off great and truly was a nice person, but after waiting for over an hour and then getting our order wrong still charged us for a 5 dollar appetizer. At the end of the day was in this restaurant for 2.5 hrs and only got 1 drink " from the bar on my own" the wrong meal that had to be sent back and an appetizer. So all and all good beer mediocre food, average service and sub par management.

Food was good but server must of been new. Poor service, forgot to put in my order, had to ask for refills. But good news is owner stepped in and made up for it. My sons family may have never returned if not for owner. Will return.

This place is getting kind of a bad wrap on here. It's not that bad. We had the pulled pork sliders with some kind of mango BBQ sauce-good. Loaded french fry appetizer-good. Buffalo wings-good. Some kind of shrimp quesadilla-good. Chocolate lave cake-really good. So, for me, the food is pretty good. The service is slow, but it could be that the place was PACKED. I will go again.

I think this will be my final review of Hurricane. We've been twice since late April. On the first visit I ordered "Pub Chips", which, though a great idea, were delivered stone cold and greasy soggy. Okay, everyone can make a mistake. Flagged down my very friendly and competent server, and she explained that they only cooked a few batches a day and it depended on when you ordered whether you got hot, fresh chips, or what I got. She did, however, have a replacement batch out in a flash (kitchen refried?). They were very good. I wrote to Hurricane's home office about my experience. Chivon Hartfield quickly e-mailed back and said what I heard was in error, and that each order of chips was prepared to order, and the management and kitchen staff had been reminded of that. That was good news - somebody in upper management cared. I wasn't asking for free food, nor was I seeking a discount, but I did want my concern heard. A week later and I had a Wednesday dinner scheduled with my partner and a good friend. I was feeling pretty good about Hurricane's, so I took them there. I talked up those chips and convinced my guests to get burgers and those chips. The anticipation was electric (okay, maybe a bit overly dramatic). Out came the burgers - the smell was intoxicating, my burger was cooked perfectly. I grabbed a chip and -- can you guess? -- stone cold and rubbery-chewy. WTF? I thought about hailing my server, but the table decided to just endure the meal and leave. I did e-mail Chivon again, relating my second experience, and got a reply saying sorry, and somebody would get back with me. That was on May 16 - I'm still waiting, though not anticipating. An additional note - Hurricane has a very nice outdoor patio for dining, along with an outside bar. When we visited, several male customers had pulled chairs up close to the door, and my two female companions felt quite uncomfortable passing through. Just a personal issue, but just sayin'.

The only thing this place has going for it is a good beer selection...pretty good bartenders.. and a northside pick-up scene on the Weekends where they usually have a good band playing...as for the food side; for the life of me I can't figure out why The Golden Eagle Greg's..Gloria's and their two kids pack this place to eat way to expensively priced straight off the truck Sysco Food Service Products...do their Microwaves not work at Home?...do they give the help the weekend off?...If you really want food like this just go across the street to Publix and buy any bagged frozen product like wings..nuggets..fries..cheese sticks..etc and you will be eating a higher quality product..cooked better..hopefully without screaming kids running around all over the place for about 1/4 the cost..two stars strictly for the beer and entertainment value on the weekends

My family frequents Hurricane Wings often. The menu is varied enough that everyone can get something they like, which is very important when dining with children, or if you are married to someone with very different tastes than yours. All the bar food standards, burgers, wings, salads and fried appetizers, have always been well prepared, and my family has always been served hot food. I am the one in the family that always orders fish, and my fish has always been properly cooked, although it is bland, which may be by design, as a sauce is always provided with the fish. A great place to eat with kids. Go early for dinner on the weekends, as the place gets real crowded.

Hurricane Grill and Wings is a great concept, but poorly executed. The place has a fun tropical theme: distressed looking wood for benches, tables made from surfboards, palm frond roofs, etc. There is also an outside seating area and bar to enjoy. Mounted on the walls are many flat screens for you to view the game...If you can see them that is. Depending on which table you sit at and which side of the table you sit on, you may not be able to clearly view a tv. Some have pillars in the way, others require you to crane your neck back to see. The menu is a bit busy, but offers steak, burgers, chicken, fish, shrimp, wings, salads, wraps, quesadillas, tacos, and a variety of appetizers. The first time we visited, we started with the fried pickles and the blue cheese and jalapeño queso dip. The fried pickles were lightly breaded, not too greasy, and served with the cyclone sauce, a mixture of sweet and spicy Asian sauce and ranch. The blue cheese and jalapeño dip was mediocre. There wasn't nearly enough blue cheese to be included in the name of the dish, but the jalapeños were extremely delicious. During the Super Bowl, we ordered a variety of wings. They were pretty decently sized, but nothing to be remembered by. As for the cost, there was a special going on so they were pretty cheap. Without the special, I think the 10-piece was $8.99. The sauces for the wings are organized by hurricane categories 1-5, but even their sauce in cat. 5 isn't very impressive. If you aren't going for heat when you order your wing favors, the raspberry ice (raspberry and horseradish), maple pepper glaze, firecracker sauce (sweet and spicy Asian chili), and honey chipotle flavors were all pretty good. The wings are served with your choice of side: kettle chips, fries, slaw, broccoli, or rice. The fries were alright, just lightly salted, and I was not a fan of the flavors in the Thai slaw. Despite it being Super Bowl Sunday, the service was pretty fast and our waitress was friendly. There was a pretty entertaing wing eating contest that night as well. The contestants had to devour the category 5 sauce with their wings. Although the sauce is not that hot by itself, it proved to burn after quickly eating multiple wings. The second time I visited, my friends and I started with the smoked fish dip, which was pretty good. The appetizer consisted of blended smoked mahi-mahi, wahoo, and spices. On the side were tortilla chips, diced onions, tomatoes, and sliced jalapeños. Once again, the jalapeños were awesome. While choosing an entree, I noticed the variety of mahi-mahi dishes on the menu so I decided to go with the Cajun mahi wrap, which turned out to basically be some fish on top of coleslaw and wrapped in a tortilla. The wrap was much smaller than expected, and I have no idea where the "Cajun" came into play. The fish was very moist and cooked perfectly, but the overall flavors were bleh. I ended up paying $20 for myself to eat a wrap, one beer, and 1/3 of the appetizer. Service was much more spotty that night and multiple things were forgotten from my friend's order. No sauce, no cheese, etc. When the mistakes were brought to the attention of our waitress, she offered to have it remade. My friend said it was okay, but the waitress still charged him for the things he didn't receive. As for beer, there is a good selection of both bottles and draft beer. However, happy hour is only $1 off any beer. I still consider Hurricane Grill and Wings a new business, so hopefully it will get better with time. I'll give it a few months before returning.

Service is still spotty. the fried dill pickles came with firecracker sauce. My friend said they were good. The side of French fries were crispy without being greasy- and were sprinkled with sea salt. The sides are really small- even the appetizers. The Quesidilla were sort of plain. My chicken wings came out at room temperature, however the thai ginger garlic was good as was the medium hurricane sauce. However, My wings were a bit overcooked and they had sat for a while. They were not jumbo wings as they advertised. We may go back - maybe. The place was not crowded enough to warrant cool food that should be warm or hot and spotty service. (that's just not cool!)

The atmosphere is pretty cool, and there are a lot of drinks there. The food is good, but some things are really good. The fried pickles with a spicy sauce are great and the burgers are pretty good. It's an alright place for alright food. This place is mostly for drinks, on Fridays they do have live music and its pretty fun.

I love their wings! I have never had any issues here. My food comes out hot and Ive always received great service. If you go on a Friday or Saturday expect to wait for a table but that's because they always have bands playing and it's a popular local spot.

I have been here 4 times to meet friends for drinks and every time I leave I feel as though I need a shower! There is just too much to say so I will just say that , if , you want over priced greasy food that you can get ANYWHERE then this is the place for you! Thus place is all about the LOCATION! Dirty, loud, gaggles of kids running around and pretty crappy service! NEVER going back!

While visiting my husband's family in Tallahassee, his parents suggested that we grab dinner at Hurricane on Sunday evening. The restaurant has a great outdoor bar and patio area that I'm sure is pretty popular when the weather is warm. However, the interior was a bit cheesy with a very literal beach/surfer theme. In addition to a strong fishy smell as we entered the restaurant, I felt ill when my husband announced that his water glass tasted "spicy" like it had not been well cleaned. It wasn't a great way to start the meal! Thankfully, the food was pretty good, so I tried to put the spicy glass out of my mind. My husband had wings with his father, and it sounded like the number, variety, and tastes of sauces was impressive. I just ordered the fried fish with sweet potato fries and a corn medley. The fish was tasty and crispy, though I was mildly frustrated that the restaurant was out of malted vinegar. I never understand when restaurants run out of basic condiments. The sweet potato fries were a little soft and mushy for my taste but the accompanying sweet BBQ type-sauce was really delicious. The corn medley also delivered a lot of flavor. Service was prompt, and our waitress checked back on our table relatively frequently. I would definitely be willing to give Hurricane another try next time we're in town.

If you want to wait an hour and a half for a table then you should come here! It's such a shame because the food is so good, but the hostesses are crap. We called ahead for 8 people they said it would be ready when we got here. We showed up 10 minutes early and they told us it would be ready in 15 minutes. GREAT!! (So we thought..) it's has now been an hour and a half and we have not been seated yet. I hope they have a breakfast menu..

  • Elyse F.

Terrible service. Actually NO service. The hostess said we could sit anywhere by the outdoor bar and there would be a server in that section. So we sat and waited....for THIRTY minutes. Both tables on either side of us sat down roughly the same time we did and got drinks, and their orders in. We never even got menus. I went to the bartender for a menu thinking the poor server was just overwhelmed and needed a minute to catch up so I was ok to wait. We double checked with the hostess that we would get a server and still nothing... Finally the server walked by looked straight at us and kept walking. That is when we finally just got up and left. Ive never seen service so incompetent. They have a ton of people on staff, you'd think someone... a manager, hostess, batender...someone...would have noticed us at some point. Nope. Every other time ive been here the food is just mediocre. I don't see myself going here again anytime soon.
