Dog Et Al is a Tallahassee Institution, and if you haven't driven down South Monroe south of the Capitol and given it a shot then you need to rectify that. The name tells no lies - this is a hot dog joint. You've got your option of what size of dog (or other similarly shaped sausage/bratwurst) as well as a bevy of condiment and topping options. I mean, how can you not love a place where chili is a free condiment? The combos are the way to go - a dog, your choice of homemade potato chips or fries, a fried apple pie, and a drink for dirt cheap. Now how should you get your dog? Nothing beats a jumbo dog with chili, cheddar cheese, mustard, and onions. Don't skip on the molten-innard apple pie either!

Fried doesn't necessarily mean greasy at Dog Et Al. Chili best part of my Super Dog. Onion rings: pretty damn good. Favorite part of my combo meal: the delicious and decadent fried apple pie--yum! Bathrooms are abhorrent! Seriously folks, clean up back there! This is main reason dog et al loses a star.

Words cannot describe how much i love this place. The hot dogs are absolutely amazing!!! Corn dogs are delicious too. Dog Et Al also has potatoe chip type of things. They are deep fried and are real good. I had a foot long hot dog yesterday with everything on it and it was sooooooo good. I know i have already said that but i cant say it enough. I like their employees as well. I talked to the owner when i went in and he was a really nice guy. Great prices. They have funny little sayings posted on their napkin holders and sign out front. Dog Et Al is one of my favorite places to get a wonderful and very filling meal from.

Your choice of hot dog, fries/ chips, apple pie, and a drink without breaking your wallet. This place was perfect during my cheap college years, but has pretty good hot dogs too! My first time eating at Dog Et Al, I had no idea which size to get, so they waved that dog in front of me first hand so I could get a better look! It was pretty funny actually. Staff is really great here, friendly and welcoming. Food is just as good. Simple American hot dogs topped with your all time favorite condiments. The apple pies are actually really good too, a sweet way to end your meal. Definitely try their lemonade, it's fresh and homemade, lemons are grown locally too! It may be off the college area but definitely give this place a try at least once, you probably won't get enough and end up coming back.

These guys don't mess around with their hot dogs. Really simple menu, but really good food. And an even better price. Being on the south side of town, this place is a great little stop on the way to or form the beach/Wakulla Springs/St. Marks.

no-frills hole-in-the wall hot dog and sausage joint. Good bratwurst, very affordable and excellent homemade potato chips. Good for a quick, cheap lunch.

Serves some of the best hot dogs that me and my coworkers have had. All varieties--hot dogs with slaw, chili, corn dogs, etc.--are represented. The onion rings, fried apple pies and hand made chips were also excellent. Not expensive at all. Very friendly and locally owned. Recommended!

a strange place, packed with odd people and deliciously well priced hot dogs of all shapes and sizes. a staple of tallahassee and experience you must embark on! i suggest dinning in to enjoy the place and get a real feel for it. however, they do have a drive-thru if you're in a rush.

Probably the best hot dog place in Tallahassee. Hot dog price between $2.65-$4.50. Add as much toppings. I love the home made chips. I love this place!

I can't believe no one's reviewed this little gem on Yelp yet. Good prices, great hot dogs! So many different kinds of sausage, with all the toppings you could want in a dog. Combos come with fresh french fries or home-made potato chips, an apple pie (McDonalds-style) and a drink. Love this place!

This is a local hot dog joint. Order the big dog combo with the homemade fries and apple pie. The super dog combo is bigger by just a little bit and not worth the difference. They did not laugh when I wanted mayo on my hot dog bun. Hot dogs are such personal things! I like mine with chili, slaw and onions. Yummy! The chips can be hit or miss. Sometimes they are a bit overdone but mostly good. I like the fried apple pie. This is not a low calorie, low fat place! Don't look for salads, tofu dogs or the like. Had voodoo dog today and like dog et all better!

I think I might have found THE DOG in Tallahassee. You know what I mean. Every American town has (or ought to!) at least one, often only one, hot dog joint that is a local institution. In Panama City, it's Tom's Hot Dogs on Harrison Avenue. In Tallahassee, I think it just might be Dog Et Al. This is an old school place. Super friendly workers, checkered red/white color scheme, simple menu. That's half the point. When you walk in, you approach the counter and order. The menu, again, is simple. The main choice is what size hot dog you want. There are several sizes, including "Big Dog," "Super Dog" and others, bigger and smaller. The names are easy to figure out. I chose the Big Dog. It turned out to be a good size. About the same length at a hot dog from the store but much thicker and so much better! Next, you can choose a combo that includes either homemade chips (get them the first time like I did) or fries, as well as a fried apple pie a la McDonald's. You then scoot down to your right to the register to pay. They do accept credit/debit cards, which is sometimes a worry for me at these mom & pop joints. The prices are very reasonable, though on the higher end for a hotdog. A Super Dog Combo with chips, apple, and drink will run you between $7-$8. It's really a good bit of food for the price. The dining room is small and old school, with the aforementioned retro color scheme. One never gets the impression that the retro element is a "retro-chic" affectation. I don't know the history of Tallahassee well enough to know, but if you told me this place had been around since the 50s-60s I'd believe you! You help yourself at the soda fountain. They have a smaller selection than many newer fountains - about 8 beverages. Coke products, including Barq's Rootbeer and Sprite, etc. Strangely, while they have regular Coke, their Diet Coke appears to be the "caffeine free" variety. Probably a blessing in disguise, as this eatery is near both the Capitol and FAMU/FSU and the students, legislators, and office workers probably get enough caffeine as it is! I should mention they have a drive through as well. Oh, and an awesome if simple list of toppings for your hotdog. Mayo, Mustard, Sauerkraut, and many more. I chose the peppers & onions, which are an option tacked to the bottom of the list instead of on it, so don't forget if you like peppers and onions! Funny sayings on the napkin holders is evidence of their mom & pop charm also. I've yet to try the Voodoo Dog apparently but it's going to have a run for its money from Dog Et Al. One more reason why those who never get on South Monroe are missing out on some great grub.

This place is hands-down better than voodoo dog in my humble opinion. The owner is extremely friendly and the food is great! They also have a drive through which is convenient. Give them a try, you won't regret it.

Really friendly staff. The only negative I'd say is the location. Its not in the worst area in town, but its not in the best either. I think a fresh location could do wonders for this place, but I have no complaints at all about the dogs.....A1 Only giving it a 4 instead of 5 because Voodoo Dog is better
