We love this place. I always get the sweat and sour chicken & soup. I believe it's a family run business. They always get my order right. They are quick. They deliver too!

Been coming here for years, always clean, always hot and fresh food. Service has always been very friendly. Great place to eat for lunch if you only have an hour lunch break. Never have to wait on the bill.

I got the seafood combination on my first night living in Tallahassee. I had nothing in my apartment and I was tired from driving a long way so I ordered China First instead of cooking with my non existent cookware. The post came very quickly, about 30 minutes before I was expecting it, but that is where the good things ended. The dish I ordered was nothing like the description; at first I actually thought I got the wrong order. The description for the seafood combination was "scallop, shrimp, crab slowly cooked with mushroom and tomato in a brown sauce." What I got did not include scallops, mushrooms, tomatoes, or brown sauce. It was snow peas, baby corn, broccoli, cabbage and water chestnuts with white sauce. The crab was imitation, but that is hardly an offense wren compared with how of base my meal was. The delivery person also didn't give me any utensils, so I was forced to eat everything with my hands. It was all around a bad experience and I wouldn't recommend it.

The food isn't fresh. I had some serious stomach issues 30 minutes after eating here and won't be back.

Really enjoyed the lunch buffet. Nice variety of foods, good atmosphere, nicely decorated, and a great price! This was my first time, my wife's second - she brought our VERY picky teenage son last week, and he loved it.

I can't speak specifically for the General Tso's chicken that my fellow reviewer found so offensive, but I quite like China First. I went to their Sunday lunch buffet and was impressed by the selection and freshness of the food. Certainly, it is very Americanized Chinese food, but there is lots of it and nearly everything I had was worthy of seconds. I didn't try their sushi, but the rice, lo mein, chicken and broccoli, beef and broccoli, and so on were all delicious. The waiters were diligent about clearing used plates and food was constantly being brought out when it got low. The price for Sunday dinner seemed a bit high, but weekday lunch is quite cheap. If they have the same selection, it will be one of the best deals in Tallahassee.

Had some truly heinous General Tso's Chicken from China First yesterday. It was takeout, but still, the meat should not be grey on the inside, and should not taste fetid. May have ruined Tallahassee Chinese food for me.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
