Where can you find a healthy reasonably priced fresh excellently prepared meal? RIGHT HERE!

I've been twice with friends and can't wait to go again. If you were a fan of Shells, your going to love Tin Fish. It surpasses the quality of Shells and yet has the pricing of the original Shells before the chain "upgraded" itself out of existence. You won't find better seafood anywhere at these prices or even at higher priced restaurants. Everything is fresh and well prepared and the servings are generous. Everyone (chief, manager, wait staff) is friendly and willing to go the extra mile to see to it that your dinning experience is a happy one.

Great meal! Fresh Seafood. Piping hot. Best oysters I've had! Ordered the Conch Fritters - tasty. And the Famous Fried Tacos were so yum. Good house wine too.

Moms & I met here for lunch the weekend that Hurricane/Tropical-Storm/Invisible Erika (with a "K") didn't hit SoFLA (thank God). She had a hankering for a lobster roll, but she lives really West, so they are hard to find there. I found this on Yelp and have it bookmarked for eons. The restaurant is in the same shopping center as the "Big: Doris's Italian Market, as well as, an Asian market. It's right to the right of Doris's if you are looking straight at it. Parking is ample and this place is relatively small, but what they lack in square footage they make up for in Fish & Seafood... and boy do they have a selection. You want fish-they got plenty: fried, grilled, broiled, steamed I felt like Bubba Gump was going to walk through the door himself. Shrimp, Oysters, Cod, Mahi, Grouper, Claims, and the like all can be found here. Frogs Legs can also be found here too! Mom landed up going with the oyster po' boy which they shuck fresh to order, she loved it. Interestingly, they make their own cole slaw that has a vinegar base vs. mayo and it's quite delicious. Definitely going back!

This place is worth the wait! My husband and I have visited twice and the food is delicious! The service needs some work, but I'm willing to wait for food that good! We had to wait for a table on our second visit, or was clear we came to close to the early bird special, so I recommend coming here after 7 pm.

I found this wonderful little local fish place with all kind of goodies! Meals are both fried and grilled with plenty of specialized dishes and delightful flavor bombs for your mouth! A couple "you got to try"; Homemade cornbread New England Claim chowder Lobster Bisque Oysters This is one of those nice little places in your neighbourhood that you feel comfortable hanging out, dressing comfortable and having a good conversation while having a great seafood dinner. The staff is extremely nice and helpful, made you feel like they have known you for years. You got to try this place!!!

Whoa...what a mess. The only thing worse than the food was the service. Could this even be possible? Hmm, lets see, where could be begin? Yikes... Took forever for a server to acknowledge us. Ahhh, there was 7 tables and 3 servers. Hello?? Hello??? Could we please have some water... Hello? Wow, everyone was running around, but umm, 7 tables, 3 servers and can someone, anyone make us feel welcomed? Echo Echo Echo!!! Server - "ok, has anyone come by your table?" Us - "umm no," Remember the whole place is the size of someone's living room with 3 servers..and she has to ask? Ok ahh water...now we're getting someplace. Our server never, not once made eye contact and she was constantly saying things as she was in motion to go somewhere else. No kidding, it was like a drive by. Never once actually stopping at our table. Ok, here she is, "ready to order?" why yes yes we are...oops there she goes running to somewhere. oops, she's back We order the Gator Bites and a salad for a start. Entrees are Kaboom Shrimp and the Fried Snapper. The menu is basically FRIED foods, some not fried, then more fried. Apps come. Salad was decent. Gator Bites were an oily, thick breaded mess. For the price, the portion was not as expected. The Sauce was tasteless. The platting was just thrown together. need Salt and Pepper? No Server..ok Ill get up and get salt and pepper myself. Server was clueless and never even recognized there was never salt and pepper on the table, and then never recognized her customer got up and got it themselves. What no server...oohh here she comes running, as she passes she asks.."How is...." She is gone to continue her running of the Boston marathon maybe. Main Course... Kaboom Shrimp was a cloyingly sweet FRIED mini shrimp. Did I say fried? Fried Red Snapper... a good portion. The Tarter Sauce was ok. Asked for Cocktail Sauce. I saw they have fresh Horse Radish. The Cocktail sauce was bland and watery. The snapper was oily. Maybe the oil used may need changing or maybe the temperature needs to be hotter? The fries were a mush. The Server comes around and ..wait...she says in complete no caring...how is everything? Oooops she is gone... Fatty says...swing and a miss. And were gone never to come back to this "Drive By" Server spent easily 60% of her time when not running and being in motion, standing in front of the Micros trying to figure out what button to tap. This screams of a lack of training and a lack of management.

Stumbled into this great find and newly opened Tin Fish location. Just walked in to grab a menu and ended up being served some great tastings by Joe (owner) and his great team, Peter and Eli. Large menu for seafood lovers (affordably priced) and selection for meat lovers so as not to feel left out. Ingredients are fresh and dishes well prepared - salmon, white fish and a sampler dish. If you like spicey - ask for their house mix of hot sauce. Small and casual restaurant with a bit of a modern/rustic feel. We sat at their oyster bar - will sample on next visit as well as their 10+ variety of tacos for which they are known in San Diego. Looking forward to returning - thank you Joe :-)

Wow! What a great little spot located in the Sunset Strip Mall next to Doris Market! We decided to go in and have a few beers while we waited for the lunch rush to end at a near by restaurant. We were immediately greeted by Eulis and felt very welcomed as the manager(?) from Sarasota also welcomed us like he knew us and kept coming over to check on us or talk throughout our time there! These two guys couldn't have been any friendlier and make me want to keep going back! We had a couple of their draft beers which were very crisp and clean tasting and even though we already had lunch plans I wanted to try something of their menu! The manager (which I wish I would of got his name) came over and asked if we would like to try their Mahi as prepared in their tacos. This seriously was the best piece of fish I had ever tasted. Just a small sample but it was soo good! Served over the top of their house-made slaw! They make this slaw several times a day to keep the lettuce crispy and fresh! Now we HAVE to try something if this little piece of fish is this good! It was between Tacos or their Smoked Fish Dip. They actually send their fish up to Okeechobee to a smoke shop for that real smoke flavor most restaurants miss. Our order of Fish Dip was definitely smokey and full of Salmon and Mahi! It had great flavor and the in-house hot sauce elevated the taste! While we were talking to the manager he also let us know that the Frog Legs, Catfish, and Gator are all brought down fresh from Okeechobee where they are acquired through the farms up there! While we were eating our Fish Dip they also let us sample their Lobster Bisque that was excellent! The quality of ingredients in each dish we had or sampled was extremely fresh and delicious! I wish this location was closer to us as it would be our new spot! Excellent customer service and the decor was very relaxing and sleek! I loved their oyster ice shooter! If you sit at the bar you will be able to watch this really cool ice shooter that they constructed. Since they were unable to cut into the ceiling they designed a system to where they don't have to continue to ice the oysters down. See picture below! This place has it all and I can't wait to go back for a full meal! Thank you so much to the two guys that gave us such excellent service and were so very personable!

This restaurant was amazing. I had the small grilled salmon platter. It was great. The portion size was more than enough. Their coleslaw is made with vinegar no mayo and was amazing. Our waitress was fabulous as was the general manager who took time to thank us for coming. This restaurant has definitely made our list. Looking forward to my next visit.

I went there on my lunch break a couple of days ago and this place is great. The servers were very friendly and the food was pretty good. If you are a fan of lobster bisque, I highly recommend that you try it from this place. 2nd visit. Like this place so much for lunch that I figured I would try it for dinner. I order lobster bisque and seared ahi tuna. The lobster bisque was great, but the seared ahi tuna left much to be desired.

Gotta say Tin Fish is serving some of the freshest seafood I've enjoyed in Florida in a long time. Oysters were super fresh and Mahi Tacos rocked! We've been here three times in a week, and won the trivia contest Monday night. Craft beers and wine complete the are the perfect accompaniment. Can't stay away, come join us!

Our first visit to Tin Fish and we enjoyed the food and friendly service. The special shrimp and corn chowder was outstanding! My husband wanted a draft beer and they let him try a local craft beer before ordering. Our meals were good the grilled fresh Mahi-mahi and shrimp plate was very good. My only suggestion is to not serve it on dry cabbage. The fried shrimp and fish platter was really nicely prepared. Not greasy at all. We will return!

What a find! This little fish joint tucked away in the strip mall next to Doris is a real gem. Came here on a Saturday afternoon with my family. Our waitress was happy and attentive and made some good recommendations on the menu. I had the Oyster Po' Boy with delicious plump oysters - perfectly fried with a tasty crisp seasoning. We ordered the jalapeño corn bread hot from the oven to start with their Lobster Bisque. The Bisque was AMAZING - Great lobster flavor, smooth and creamy. We also ordered the fish & chips which was so fresh and light. Not like those oily hard crusts that you get at some restaurants. This had a unique light crust that really let the fish taste shine through. Even their coleslaw and fries were special. The coleslaw is not made with mayo, so it cuts the richness of the fish perfectly. The crinkle fries were hot and fresh with seasoned salt. Really yummy! I can't believe we have such a great fish place on the west side now. Casual but sophisticated atmosphere, very family friendly - good kids menu. So happy to finally have a great fish place on the west side. Can't wait to go back.

We were able to go to the Tin Fish while visiting family. While the service needs improvement, and will with time, the food was AMAZING. Very friendly atmosphere. My daughter was given her first raw oyster to try and loved it. We suggest the gator bites.

Hooray! It's here. A type of restaurant that was so sorely needed in the area: one with fresh seafood at a reasonable price...and Tin Fish does it really well! It should, as it is actually part of a small chain. There are about 11 others across the country and this one in Sunrise is the latest to open. Still, the atmosphere does not feel like a chain.....more like a small, friendly, neighborhood seafood joint. We ordered several appetizers to share. The Shrimp Corn Chowder (a special) was heavenly. I am not usually a fan of cream soups but this was not too rich. It had huge chunks of shrimp, lots of corn, and a complex flavor that was not too fishy. I am also not usually a fan of Fish Dip but my boys love it so the Smoked Fish Dip ($11.95) was ordered. This was the best fish dip I have ever had. Per Joe, the owner, Mahi and Salmon are smoked in house to make the dip. Indeed, you can taste the smokey flavor of the fish and it does not taste like the usual fish dip mush. It is served with fresh carrots & celery, and crackers. The third appetizer was the Kaboom Shrimp ($9.95): medium sized shrimp very lightly battered & fried in Tin Fish "Kaboom Sauce", actually an excellent Thai Chili sauce. To me, the dish is very reminiscent of Bonefish Grill's Bang Bang Shrimp and I love both of them! I was really quite full after the apps, so I was kind of glad I did not order a huge meal. Tin Fish has a list of different tacos they serve daily including calamari, gator, ahi tuna, mahi, lobster, etc. ranging from $5.50-6.95. The taco plates include fries and coleslaw and range from $8.80--$9.95. Since it was a nightly special I chose the Scallop Taco Platter. The scallops were cut up but tasted fresh and delicious! I just wish there had been more of them on the taco! I tasted the cole slaw, which thankfully had a vinegar base but was a little on the sweet side. I did not even taste the crinkle cut fries. They did not look like anything special. Husband tried the Fried Salmon Platter, mainly because he had never seen salmon prepared this way. It was interesting, but to me salmon always tastes like.......salmon. The boys both got Early Bird Specials. Pretty good deal...if you are seated between 4 and 530pm you can get the following for $8.95: Salad, soft drink, key lime pie or cheesecake, and a choice of entrees (grilled chicken, mahi, salmon, fish & chips, or chicken tenders). 11 year old had chicken tenders and 10 year old had the mahi. The mahi portion was huge and the fish was seasoned to perfection. It was served with cole slaw and tasty sautéed zucchini. On future visits I will ask if the other "plates & platters" served can have similar veggies substituted for the fries. I did taste the Key Lime Pie that came with the Early Bird and it did not disappoint. It was smooth and creamy with just the right amount if tartness. Next time, we will have to try the cheesecake if we get the early bird. Or we might just have to go crazy and order one of the yummy sounding a la carte desserts like the Sea Salt Caramel Cheeses Cake, Hot Apple Pie a la Mode, or Bermuda Triangle Sundae. Our food came out lightening fast. Joe, the owner was quite very hospitable and chatty. We lingered to watch the incredible comeback by the Seattle Seahawks and he even brought out some gratis Jalapeño Corn Bread for us to try. Since I am the only one in the family that can tolerate any heat in food I was the guinea pig. Wow! Warning....only eat the jalapeño corn bread there if you really like heat! It was too spicy, even for me. Tin Fish is certainly not perfect. I was really debating between 4 and 5 stars but the friendly atmosphere and the need it fills in Central Broward county raised it up to a 5 star rating for me. Though it's early in the game, I hope Tin Fish continues to live up to my initial first impression. We look forward to our next visit!

I'm updating my review because they addressed the 2 things that I cited as needing improvement: * They had more servers and a greeter tonight * They had ample inventory - even though nearly every table in the restaurant was taken, and several tables turned over while we were there, they didn't run out of anything. We heard one of the servers say "welcome back" to people at 4 different tables. There were couples, families with young kids, and foursomes while we were there. Evidently people of all ages are finding the food and service enjoyable. LAST TIME: No oysters - tonight delicious and plentiful supply! We didn't get to try the oysters last time but did tonight so I can tell you If you go there for nothing else but oysters it'd be worth the trip. The ice cold raw oysters were served with freshly grated horseradish and were plump and juicy. The server told us they are from Virginia and were flown to Miami within hours of harvesting. We see ourselves coming back for the oysters and making our own seafood platter of crab cakes, raw oysters, ahi tuna and grilled lobster (they offer it on the taco portion of the menu). LAST TIME: Fishy taste - tonight clean taste! Tonight I got the dinner special of grilled salmon, mahi, scallops and shrimp with veggies and cole slaw. Whereas last time the snapper was fishy tasting, tonight each fish had a clean taste. They were a bit heavy-handed with the salt but not to the point of ruining the delicate taste of the fish. Don't look for grill marks or a grilled flavor because I think they use a flat top grill. Tonight's rating is a solid 4 stars!

The only complain I got about this particular restaurant is the service people that work there are terrible, very first time I was there with friends it was delicious, service was OK the second and third time we didn't even stay and eat because they give us a "faces" when we got there at 9pm on Saturday. even though on the window it says closing at 10+ p.m. I live around this location for really long time this restaurant will not survive unless they change the service and treat people with respect and smile like they do every where else around here.

This restaurant was absolutely delicious! I had been wanting to try it out so I went for lunch when my parents were in town! I started with the shrimp corn chowder (soup of the day) and it was amazing! I then got a blackened mahi sandwich and my parents split the fried fish sandwich! They said their fried fish sandwich was great and my mahi sandwich was also great, so I most certainly will return to try more of their seafood items out!

Awww man this place was a disappointment. Got the Tilapia, Shrimp, & Crab Cake combo (All Fried).... Psssh I was better off eating at Hooks/Snappers... The quality of food is GARBAGE. Food wasn't what I was expecting AT ALL... Kaboom Shrimp was good but how can you mess up (Dynamite/BangBang Shrimp) Kanye Shrughs*** Oh yea my shorty had the "Lobster" Bique... Lol where was the meat and her lobster taco wasn't good either... I'm not hard to please but this place I won't go back ..The server was nice tho!

Located right next door to Doris Italian Market. We saw that they opened a few weeks ago, so decided to check them out. When you walk in there are pictures of all eleven of Joe's locations. Wow I had no idea there were more than one. Joe was working hard schucking oysters for guest at the front bar area and welcoming all new guest when you walked in. The decor is simple, and the dining area is on the small side . They also have some tables outside. When we arrived they were crowded so we waited maybe ten minutes for a table. Our waitress came over after we got seated and we had ordered a bottle of wine so she brought us over water. She was very friendly , just nervous. She later told us it was her second day. Any new restaurant goes through this and she did a great job. We started with crab cakes. I believe they were around $10 and they were big, thick, plenty of crab meat and extremly tasty. I was loving them and the aioli sauce that came with them was excellent. The menu is quite large. They offer grilled, fried seafood, sandiwhiches, tacos, salads, frog legs, and even gatoir. I found the prices to be extremly reasonable. The portions are large. For my entree I ordered the grilled seafood platter. It came with cole slaw, salmon, shrimp, and Mahi Mahi. Hubby ordered the grilled fish platter with three different types of fish. Our food came out in a timely manner. This restaurant is very casual, you feel very comfortable. The owner Joe is very personable and he works hard while also engaging with all of his guest. We both really enjoyed our entree's. The seafood all tasted fresh. My only suggestion would be to add more seasoning to the fish. Some of it was just a bit bland with not much flavor. As we enjoyed our dinner we saw taco platters coming out and other dishes. It looked good enough to make you keep going back to try other items. Both of our entree's were very healthy and we had plenty to take home because the portions are so big. I look forward to going back and trying other dishes. This is what it is, good fresh seafood with many options in a casual environment with good prices, and good service! This is not a high end seafood restaurant. Joe has done a fabulous job creating a very appealing menu that is affordable. Check it out, you will not be disappointed.

This was my first visit to Tin Fish- it's been on my radar, and i've even sent my parents who live close by... But now it was my turn! Upon walking in, it's reminiscent of Bash, the restaurant that used to be there. You first see a huge bar, now lined with fresh oysters over ice and a chalk board wall. They were very nice about letting us sample some beer- although i was a little sad about the lacking IPA selection! We had the cornbread that my parents had loved on their previous visit. It was served piping hot and was very moist. Cornbread can be dry, but not this one! When we had sat, our waitress asked if we wanted a sample of grilled or fried fish. A sample? In a restaurant?! I was sold! I got the grilled and it was yummy! I decided to make my own combo of fried shrimp and grilled mahi- and they were more than happy to accommodate that request! Our waitress was a sweet dark haired older lady. She was always happy to bring us what we needed and kept the drinks full. She was very pleasant! We will definitely be back! It's so wonderful to have a LOCAL (for us west people) seafood restaurant! Thank you, Tin Fish!!

Let's start with the good. Their oysters are really good. Juicy. Meaty. Fresh. A dozen oysters (including freshly grated horseradish, Tabasco, cocktail sauce) is $20 and well worth it. I also got a dozen of their dirty oysters (dressed with red caviar, creme fraiche, and onions). Can't get enough of their oysters, for real. I also got a cup of the clam chowder. Nothing to really rave about there, it's your typical clam chowder. But those oysters...wow. But to get to even try those oysters were a battle in itself. A couple of my friends got there first and grabbed a table for a total of 8 people. My friends said that the restaurant was empty. We got there and looked at the menu and waited to order. Then we waited some more. We waited 30 minutes to order. 30 minutes later, the waitress comes up to us and says that their oyster shucker went home and that there was only one chef on staff tonight. She ensured us that we would get our oysters, because the one chef on staff would shuck them for us. About 30 minutes later, we finally got our regular dozen oysters and then 20 minutes after that, we got our dirty dozen. When our dirty dozen was dropped off, the waitress told us that the chef hasn't had a chance to start making the rest of the food our party ordered an hour and a half ago. EXCUSE ME? You do not tell a group of 8 hungry people that the food we ordered nearly an hour and a half ago hasn't been started. At that point, we were done with Tin Fish. We paid for what already came out, cancelled the rest of our order, and left. Thank goodness for Chick-Fil-A, because that's where my friends and I went for dinner after the dismal service at Tin Fish. With service like that, I'm surprised Tin Fish is still a running restaurant.

Started with a dozen raw Oysters, 1/2 dirty (dressed with onions, Creme Fraiche & Red Caviar) these were GREAT! Hubby had a fried oyster po boy, I had fried shrimp po boy, both were great. Coleslaw was delicious and fries were seasoned good too. Decor was super cool but best of all was the service. They treated us like friends, they were humble and genuinely happy we were there. Can't wait to go back and try the chowder and corn bread.

I have seen this place pop up on yelp before but I have never gone and today I am glad I did. It was really quiet on this Sunday afternoon, but I didn't mind. I was greeted with a warm welcome and then started with a margarita. Victoria was my server and she was very nice and helpful. I had the fresh oysters for my appetizer and they were great! They serve them with fresh grated horseradish, which was great. I then had the famous fish taco with coleslaw and fries..I totally recommend it. By the time I was leaving a few more guests had arrived. I will back with a bigger appetite next time.

Good food and amazing service. Paul and Jessica took great care of us. The entire staff was friendly. I had the clam chowder and Maryland Bluepoint oysters; my husband had the shrimp and corn chowder and their grouper and shrimp special; and my nine-year-old picky eater had the calamari appetizer and cheese quesadillas. We were NOT disappointed . All was tasty and well presented. They have a great selection of craft beers as well.

The food was very good. Generous portions and prices were reasonable. We ordered a Fisherman's Combo. It included two healthy sized pieces of fish, 3 or 4 enormous shrimp, and probably half a dozen of the largest clam strips I have ever seen. (Seriously they were each bigger than my fingers!) It was more than enough food for my son and I to share. It was clear that the fish was fresh. The breading was light and flavorful. The combo came with fries and cole slaw (also very good and I'm not normally a huge fan of slaw). We ordered conch fritters for our appetizer. They were tasty but not the usual Caribbean style. The batter was made of corn meal and had whole kernels of corn in it. It was more like a corn bread batter with conch in it. Yummy, just not what I am used to. Not sure how I feel about the bits of corn...but I would definitely order them again. The staff was very friendly and attentive. I was surprised at how busy the place was (it's not a huge restaurant but every table was full before we left) and how quickly the food came out. We will definitely be back. The menu has a lot to choose from so we have more to try!!!

This was my second visit to Tin Fish. I wanted to like it more but was hard pressed to do so. There was nothing wrong with it but there was nothing extraordinary about it either . First visit I had a fish sandwich and second visit the fried fish platter. I have to say the portion size on the fish platter was generous. Enough to take home for lunch the next day . A fellow diner and I split the calamari which came with cocktail sauce which I thought odd. I have only ever had it served with marinara . The batter was nice and light and they were crisp, however both the fish and calamari lacked any real flavor. My fellow diners had the lobster , shrimp and fish tacos and they had a similar reaction . Service was fair . Our waitress was pleasant, although a little disorganized. Our food did not come out together and she got somewhat confused splitting up our bill. For desert we split a salted caramel cheesecake which was yummy. I was a little surprised they did not throw that in as we did have three birthdays at the table and ran up a sizable bill for the small restaurant. If I'm in the neighborhood I may give it another shot but will not be racing back.

After reading several reviews of the Tin Fish I found myself in the area for lunch and decided to check it out. I'm glad I did. I ordered a grilled dolphin (mahi mahi) sandwich with fries and coleslaw. The dolphin was cooked perfect, the sandwich was simple which made it great. In my humble opinion. My only regret was, I did not order more coleslaw. I won't make the same mistake next time. To sum it up the dolphin sandwich was great. Pete was very helpful and friendly and I will definitely be back for more.

Great seafood restaurant! I recommend this place. My wife and I had for appetizer the fried mini crab cakes Maryland style, my wife had the fried mahi & shrimp platter combo and I had the mixed fish grilled (mahi, salmon, & tilapia) service and food was excellent!!!

We've been going to Tin Fish the past few weeks and the food's good. I like the ice cold oysters and food no matter what we order. Today was the best we ever had because the oysters were big and plump and tasted great. They were ice cold and weren't very very briny. They just tasted great. They're from Virginia and I didn't know Virginia had oysters or that their oysters were so good. The owner took care of us today and each course was better than the one before. They got an order of fluke from Long Island today so we ordered fluke baked with crab stuffing. They use real crab so it was great. Joe served it with cut up zucchini, tomatoes, onions and yellow squash that had pieces of parmesan cheese on top. That was a great dish. Kathy is our server and she remembers us and what we like to drink. She is great. We started with an app of calamari that had a crisp batter more than a breading and it was very soft. Then we had the best raw oysters I ever had and a couple of raw Littleneck clams that Joe included. He came to our table and grated fresh horseradish. You can't beat the service. But Joe was loving what he was doing and he was so into preparing the food for us. We had a great time. Then he made us baked cherrystone clams. My wife wanted baked clams for weeks but we didn't know where to go to get them done right. Joe made the best we ever had because he cut the clams into pieces and used just the right amount of seasoning and breadcrumbs. We would take a forkful and look at each other like did you just taste that? Did you get a piece of garlic yet? It was so good. THEN we got the fluke. We were pretty full by then so we had a couple of forkfuls and took the rest to go. Joe is a master at preparing fish and seafood. He knows what to do to get the best flavor out of the ingredients. We split an Angry Orchard crisp apple cider and talked to some of the other customers. Then we thanked Joe while he was shucking oysters for another table. He was loving . He loves what he does and it shows. We love what he does too and hope that he's there when we return.

Great neighborhood seafood place. Casual atmosphere with friendly service, and their seafood selection is very good. Also, they have daily specials which add even more variety to their menu. Today I had their crab stuffed shrimp, one of their specials, and it was excellent. Seasoning on the crabmeat was great, and made the shrimp taste even better. Four jumbo shrimp in a butter and garlic sauce plus other spices, it was great. Their standard fish selection includes salmon, Mahi, tilapia, red snapper and Alaskan white fish. Shell fish include oysters, clams, shrimp and lobster. They also have a pretty good wine and beer selection, including a few good craft beers. On their soup options, I highly recommend their NE clam chowder and lobster bisque.

I've been to the one in St. Lucie and each franchise location is a little different. This location has a way more sophisticated and high end atmosphere. The food was also fantastic. Plus very friendly and accommodating staff. Recommend the homemade chips and salad or gator bites for an appetizer. Recommendation for "off menu" would be the kaboom shrimp appetizer but in their tacos. Just ask for it and they'll do it!

My husband and I really love oysters. The only place with really good oysters is The River Seafood and Oyster Bar in Brickell which also does half price oysters during happy hour. However, the trip to Brickell is always a mission, so craving oysters on Wednesday night we decided to try Tin Fish. As soon we entered, we were greeted and a server said she would clean a table for us. While we waited, a man behind the bar (the owner) offered to pour our drinks, but we opted to wait. We thought that was really nice. Our server, Kathy, was kind and quick. She checked on us often and was very knowledgeable on the menu. We ordered a dozen oysters, two stella on draft, a dozen claims and their special fried bay scallop with coleslaw and fries. The food was good. The coleslaw was delicious. I don't normally enjoy coleslaw. It didn't have too much mayo and was very fresh and tasty. There was also live music which was neat. Overall we really enjoyed ourselves. The only downside is that we felt like the food was a little expensive for what it was. My bill was around $80 and I tipped $20 because I really liked Kathy. I am happy this place opened close to our house. This is a good option for us when we don't feel like driving to Brickell.

This is a great seafood oriented place nearby Doris Italian Market, occupying the former Bash restaurant. As I understand it, the theme is supposed to evoke the Fulton Fish Market and the nautical. Brown wood paneling, metal chairs, images of b&w fish market scenes etc. There's a bar area where you can watch your oysters being shucked, but I just witnessed drunken hilarity from the patrons sitting there instead lol. My group wanted to sit inside, so we (at least I was) were seated right by the door. The setup was a little awkward because people who walk in would be right behind you. They ordered some sort of grilled fish platter and a side of fries, while I opted for 1/2 dz fresh oysters and the Frog Leg, Gator, Catfish combo. The oysters came with the standard tabasco sauce, cocktail sauce, and some fresh grated horseradish. I forget where the oysters originated from, but they were large and well shucked. I don't think I tasted much heat from the horseradish, but the freshness was nice. The fries were the crinkle cut variety which I'm not really a fan of, They had some seasoning which was similar to Old Bay but less of a kick. My platter was lightly battered and fried, so no heavy breading masking a small amount of meat. Frog legs were of course bony and didn't have a lot of meat, which is fine. The gator tasted like chicken (like the frog), and the catfish was tender and moist. There wasn't a lot of flavor or seasoning used it seems, so that's where the Tartar sauce and pink sauce (Treasure Island?) made up for. Overall we were all satisfied with our meals, and the service was friendly and suggested options for my group unused to seafood. Next time I'd probably go for some more grilled options instead of fried.

We visited tonight and everyone in the family loved it. The big hits of the evening were the fish and chips, the New England Clam Chowder and the grilled Mahi Mahi. The service was friendly and attentive. We will definitely be back.

Oysters are the best. So glad they have a Tin Fish in broward. Fried fish is so good. Lightest batter I have ever seen. I get the squash veggies instead of chips.

If you've read my reviews you will know that I don't eat dessert, rarely taste dessert and never ever order dessert.....but there's a first time for everything right? We had just come from NY Market next door where I splurged on $40 for candy for my 13 year old next door neighbor Gianna who is an Asian candy fan. Going there is a field trip all on its own. We love that place. Anyway, I digress. We decided to stop in at Tin Fish for a glass of wine and a snack, not so much a dinner, more like a bit of a nibble or two to tide us over until breakfast as we had been eating all day. They have a pretty extensive menu here, not overwhelming and a bit of something to suit everyone's taste. We ordered some wine for Mama J. while I fancied a beer and seeing they had about 8 beers on tap I went up to the counter to see what they had on offer and seeing Gator Tail was immediately curious and was offered a taste by the manager on duty. After being regaled by the half sozzled two patrons at the bar about its finer points and discoursing back and forth on the finer points of a chocolate coffee tasting beer and why it wasn't on offer at the likes of Starbucks as an alternative to the morning brew I decided to have me a pint. Back at the table I ordered myself a lobster taco, which came with either grilled or fried lobster (I had it fried) and loaded and served with a side of fries and with coleslaw. Gianna ordered the gator plate, again with fries and coleslaw, and Mama J had herself a cup of the clam chowder. The place is tiny...I counted...50 seats inside, hardly warrants a hostess service, you can spit from the front door across the restaurant to the hall to the restrooms it's that small. They had two servers and the manager on duty which to me seemed more than sufficient. Service was impeccable, we had lots of questions because we were curious, weren't starving and in no rush and yet each one was answered by Kaitlyn with big smiles and it was obvious she knew the menu very well as well as the history of the chain that Tin Fish has become. She also looked you dead in the eye when she was talking to you. I admire that in a person and even moreso in a person who has to deal with the public all their work day. Our food came out fast and hot and with all the necessary condiments. We shared, as foodie friends do. I was a little disappointed at the amount of food served for the $16 Gator plate. I feel it could have been rounded out a bit more with some fresh veggies or some salad to make it more of a "platter" than a plastic red basket of food served on a real plate. The gator itself was delicious and the remoulade dipping sauce, though not used by Gianna being a plain eater, I more than made up for that by using it as a dipping sauce for my fries. Damn that sauce is GOOD!!! Lobster taco was absolutely delicious and fresh. And now we come to dessert...which like I said before, I never order, yet somehow after chatting to the manager Eli (?) who suggested fresh homemade pie with cinnamon ice cream ....I mean...COME ON...cinnamon ice cream - Who does that??? So I ordered it for my two guests to share. Shnap diggity dawg....fucking orgasm on a PLATE. Let me tell you, if those had been forks instead of spoons they gave us to eat it with, we would have been stabbing each other in the back of the hand to get to the next bite. It's not cheap but it's not small. A single serving more than fed three of us very well. It's really a serving for the table really so keep that in mind. Be aware though that their weekend hours are 11a.m. - 9p.m. [+] - we were finishing up close to 9p.m. and they were still happily welcoming everyone coming in. Well, it IS the boondocks really, doesn't everyone go to bed at 9p.m. in Plantation?

Tin Fish is new, taking the space next to Doris' market that was recently vacated by a failed restaurant. We are always looking for great new neighbourhood eateries and have been eager to try this one out since it opened. Unfortunately we were very disappointed. If you want a one-word summary it would have to be "bland". There were no specials on the menu on this Thursday night. We ordered some soups and conch fritters to start. The Lobster bisque was decent. The New England clam chowder (slopped rather unlovingly and messily into and over the bowl) was thick, pasty and flavourless, dotted with a few extremely rubbery clam pieces. The server noticed I wasn't eating mine and offered to swap it for Manhattan style. That was just as bad - like tomato soup with a clam or two tossed in. No flavour! The conch fritters were decent, but they had corn in them! Never come across that before. Didn't like that. Give me back my red and green bell peppers please! For the main I had the fish, shrimp and crab cake combo. All fried, with a light flour coating (no heavy batter, kudos for that). The french fries were limp and underdone. The cole slaw was okay - vinegar based dressing, but not southern style, just light. Didn't like the crab cake at all - dark meat, pasty (not lumps of crab meat, more like tuna salad). The Alaskan whitefish was .... well, a bland white fish. There were three shrimp and they were cooked very nicely. The cocktail sauce was good with a nice horseradish bite. The tartar sauce was like mayo with a few pickles thrown in. Service was good if a little shaky and nervous. Ambience is very casual, the metal chairs are pretty uncomfortable and we sat right next to the waiter station and they kept bumping into me (so bad table placement). I just don't get it with seafood restaurants like this using frozen fish from half way around the world. Where's the amberjack, pompano, wahoo, cobia, grouper, red snapper? Those fish should be taking center stage at a place like this. They do have gator on the menu here though!

Food was good. There is not many seafood restaurants in the area, so this is a great option. There was live music, so we sat outside. Not a fan, but I know many people do enjoy that. There are so many seafood options, it would be difficult not to find something you like on the menu.

I had the best food and service my first time here about 6 months ago. Everything was great and like most places you continue to go there the staff and food kinda just goes down hill so after the 6th time we said we were done. Well this Friday night we where in the area and thought let's give it one more try. And all I have to say is I'm glad I did. Sally was our server she was our server the first time we came to the tin fish, she is the best. The food the food was once again just like the first time we came there hot, delicious, just the best we have had. We had a dozen raw, just awesome. I had fried oysters, so good. My girlfriend had the fried mahi and shrimp. We left there full and happy once again.

Fresh fish is hard to come by. It's both fresh and well cooked here. Prices are reasonable. Highly recommend. The oyster po boy, fried seafood platter, fish dip, and chicken fingers all enjoyed.

Delicious and fresh seafood, great service and reasonable prices. My husband and I stopped in for lunch and left beyond stuffed and satisfied! We started with and order of their Kaboom Shrimp, which was recommended by our waitress, and they were delicious. Perfectly fried, succulent and tender shrimp inside with a yummy sweet Chile Thai sauce coating them on a bed of shredded cabbage. A definite must try! For our entrees my husband ordered their Gator platter and subbed onion rings for fries. Gator was perfectly cooked and so were the rings. Typically gator is a little more chewy than average game and their technique of cooking did not make it tough or more chewy, it was perfect. I ordered the Oyster Po Boy with fries; the sandwich was piled with perfectly cooked fried oysters, tomato, lettuce and topped with tartar and a drizzle of hot sauce. Yum! Additionally, I had been craving frog legs but didn't have any luck finding any on our area that served them, until today. Tin Fish has them on the menu and they are bomb! I've sampled frog legs at several establishments throughout south Florida and these were for sure the best! Succulent and meaty legs, cooked just perfectly (are you seeing the trend here with their perfect cooking? Haha) and accompanied with their Bistro sauce. Seriously just amazing! Overall everything we had was simply delicious and we can't wait to return to sample some of their other dishes as well as our newly acquired favorites. A definite gem!

Decor is all about "tin", so you're sitting on uncomfortable tin chairs and barstools. Even the booth seats ,while not tin , are not comfortable. It's a cold look/feel to the place due to the tin theme. Whatever. Some one must think that's awesome. I had the salmon and vegs and a salad . Food was very good. My bf had a cheeseburger that was good as well. Mostly fish on the menu and nothing like lobster or crab, although oysters and clams wre available. Service was meh. Overall I liked it and would go back.

Our first time here and we were very impressed. Did a sampling from across the menu. Cornbread, Conch, Alaskan Whitefish, Catfish, Shrimp, Oysters, Gator, Frog Legs and Crab Cakes. The Chef also brought us out a tasting of Mahi Mahi with his Vinegar-based Coleslaw. Was so stuffed we couldn't even attempt dessert. Would recommend Tin Fish to anyone looking for reasonable priced seafood.

Lovely restaurant....nice waitresses...Husband's food came out quickly...mine, still waiting for 1 doz. Oysters...close to 40 mins...REALLY? Finally 6 mins. Later 1/2 dozen oysters came out...I ordered a dozen. Can I scream? She did not charge us...oh well next...

This place opened up close to me and I was awaiting it's opening for some time. Since its opened I've been about 4 times. And every time I go I get the shrimp po boy. Delicious!!!! The shrimp is cooked to perfection and toppings and dressings give the sandwich a ton of flavor. The fries are really good too. I'm going to try the tacos next! The staff is nice and friendly as well and since the place is new it's nice and clean.

Great local addition! Sure to be a hit. We stopped in on a Friday night about 7:30. It was busy but not packed. We were seated immediately. Cute decor and a little bar seating. Well curated wine and beer selection, small but inclusive. Menu is standard grilled or fried options with good seafood variety. I'm not a big fried food eater but had a craving for some fried fish and shrimp. Having read the other yelp reviews I was excited for non breaded fried fish. We both got a glass of wine and conch fritters to start. Fritters were yummy. Sauce was meh. The fried fish and shrimp was fantastic! No bready breading here. Just a nice light layer of cracker tasting coating. The fish itself was fresh and flaky and not over cooked. Shrimp were sweet and not frozen tasting. Fries were fries. The coleslaw was very very tasty, sweet but not creamy. Overall it was a great meal. Bonus surprise the whole deal avoided the usual super salty attack that most places give you. Could have used a little more spike kick in a few things but the hot sauce they bring makes it an easy fix. Service was why no 5 stars. Couldn't get a water refill for too long. Yup I'm picky sorry. We shall return to tried the grilled combos and the fish over coleslaw. 5/8/15 Update- I started this review 3 weeks ago and we've been back 2 times since. My hubby picked up take out when I was working late, and we had a date night last Sunday. Food is always awesome! Fried or grilled this fish is FRESH and tasty. Service is still 3 stars but there never seems to be more than 2 servers working and no busboys so its to be expected. We will keep going back and look forward to this place sticking around for a long time. :-)

I've eaten here about 5 times since it opened and have never been let down. Each time the fish was good and the service friendly. I really appreciate the consistency and will return. It's much better food than bonefish grill down the street.

This place was amazing! The staff went out of their way to introduce themselves and answered s ton of questions about the menu and the restaurant. The first time I came I had shrimp and salmon, which was delicious. Tonight I had their early bird dinner. 895 for salmon salad veggies beverage and dessert. Great deal for food of such high quality. I will be back!

The food is excellent but the service brought you down a star. No greeting when we came in...no sign to be seated. The waitress had to keep going to the kitchen to answer our questions about the menu. Ordered a vegetable in place of french fries on the platter did not get vegetables and did not get french fries. When server was asked about it she had to go to the kitchen again and did not come back with an answer we stood up and asked what was going on and she said well they said they're sorry no offer of anything to replace it or credit. Maybe we'll go back when servers have been trained better.

Please do yourself a favor and pass. Dined here for dinner with my wife and both walked away disappointed. Started off with the lobster bisque which had decent flavor and tiny pieces of lobster, not impressed. Ended the night with the salmon burger, no bun with sweet potato fries. My wife had the grilled snapper. The snapper had a fishy taste to it and questioned if it was actually snapper. Snapper is a flaky fish, whereas this wasn't, more coarse. No flavor, just bland served with cole slaw which was ok. As for the salmon burger which consisted of bits of salmon and fillers which failed miserably. Quality of food very poor and uninspired. If they keep this up it will be a matter of time before this place folds. On a positive note the decor was creative, number of beers on tap.

  • Lydie R.

I was extremely disappointed in the quality of the food. I ordered grilled red snapper but I do question whether what I was served was really snapper because the texture and taste was off. Also the 10 oz snapper does not come with any side dishes but it cost $20 and it was the size of a 5 oz fish. The best thing on my plate was the homemade coleslaw. Unfortunately I don't see my husband and I returning there.

Ordered the chips and salsa app., and the gator, fish, and frog plate. OMG! Best tortilla chips ever, Fluffy and crunchy with great seasoning! The gator and fish were amazing, but i got to say the frog was superb! ! I wish they were in California! ! :) great selection of beer as well.

New place so had to try it! Went in with high hopes but big let down!! Starting with very uncomfortable seats and the dolphin fingers were tiny and bland the dishes we say go by looked less than great. Next we had oysters and they were tiny and tasteless! That was it for us we went somewhere else for our real dinner. Sorry I won't be back anytime soon

this is a little new place in sunrise. Has the Fish Taco. Very fresh white fish in a wonderful tortilla. The cold slaw was vinegar base which I loved! They make all their own sauces. No sisco food here! I wanted oysters and the manager explained if they don't have it.....its not here because they couldn't get it in today fresh! Great service. Cute bar too. I received a sample of their soups the new England clam chowder was wonderful, but the lobster bisque was divine!

Really a great place to go and hang out and have their traditional famous Fish tacos and the beer is always called and they have a mass mass amounts of different wines

Hooray!
