30 min to get thru the drive thru line on a sat afternoon - and half of that me sitting in front of the speaker, ready to give my order but was told to wait.

Pros: Awesome location in a Walmart plaza by sawgrass mall, extremely affordable prices whether to grab lunch or late night food, 24 hours open and amazing food. Their milkshakes are always on point. They feature some holiday milkshakes like eggnog and red velvet but my favorite is cookies and cream. They have happy hour where their milkshakes are half off. Lastly, the reason why I mainly come to steak n shake is the FRISCO MELT. It is sweet fried meaty goodness!!! I love it so much that I ALWAYS order this whenever I come to steak n shake and no, I don't bother to look at the menu ever. Cons: This place gets crowded mostly on Sundays! So many families come here on Sunday. Service? Hmm hit or miss. Sometimes you get good ones, sometimes you get ones that don't care. Is it super duper clean? No it has more or less the same cleanliness as other fast food chains. But seriously don't let the cons scare you. I go here so many times. I come here for the food, for my Frisco melt and junior sized cookies and cream milkshake. This location never disappoints in taste. I've gone to other steak n shakes and they can mess up. The cons are bearable. I recommend Frisco melt, cookies and cream milkshake and delicious fries!

Don't come here expecting a fast drive thru experience. This is the place you come to and wait patiently for the highest quality fast food/artery grease. Siracha sandwhich, I loved you so much I came back for dinner. Be adventurous! Try the Frisco sandwhich, you won't regret it! Not a big fan of their super thin fries, but I am a fan of obesity.

Worst service ever!!!! They take for ever Go some where else. This place is horrible

2.5 stars if I could be completely honest. Ok, so I love/hate this place. I love that everything is so cheap and I can pig out like crazy and spend less than ten bucks (tip included), but the service man, the service is not that great. It takes longer to be seated than it does to eat your meal. Sometimes you get s decent waitress who won't look at you completely twisted when you ask her questions about the meal. The food is always good, duh, who doesn't love s burger and chocolate shake? The food always gives you a stomach ache the next day but whatever. I will never stop going but probably will never stop complaining about its annoyances either. As long as I can get a burger and fries for four dollars I'm good to go. Happy eating.

Good coupon deals--that should have been a red flag. The burger was small (didn't look like the picture on the coupons) and was particularly greasy. I had the urge to wrap the patties in paper towels and pat them down in an attempt to remove some of the grease. The fries are shoestring (preferred), but we're cold. I'm not a milkshake fan, but "when in Rome..." so I ordered one. It was huge and delivered promptly, way ahead of my sandwich and cold fries, so if you want to eat your meal first, ask the server to prepare your milkshake later so you don't end up with a soupy mess of a drink. Hostess and server were friendly enough, but slow as molasses. And the checkout procedure is confusing--wait to be seated, wait for service, then get up and take your bill to the counter to wait to pay?!

The corporation's slogan "Famous for Steakburgers" refers to its most prominent food item, the "Steakburger", so called because it was originally made from a mixture that included T-bone, sirloin, and round steaks. Steak 'n Shake restaurants are operated by Steak 'n Shake Operations, Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Biglari Holdings Inc., located in San Antonio, Texas. As of August 2014, the company operates more than 500 restaurants in 29 states, including about 100 franchised locations.[3] The company has announced plans to increase the number of locations both in the United States and elsewhere and it's not bad food if you need a quick fix at 5:00a.m. Try the chili n dogs as well. Good seating and the hostesses are normally nice as are the waitrons.

This place was a mess, the tables were all dirty or taken when we got there. We waited 15-20 Min to get a seat, even though the place was empty with just a couple tables taken. The food was not bad, but the service also was slow.. The workers dont seem to care. When we took the bill up to pay we waited 5 minutes, finally i had to threaten to walk out before someone came over. I won't be back.

Love Steak & Shake one of the best fast foods around... Just a little slower than others because they make to order ... Keep that in mind. Added jalapeño to my burger no extra charge that's a plus! The great thing about this place its it's fast food or a diner. They have a drive thru but there is table service with cool retro seating inside. Go in order a shake and grab a burger & fries for about $6 how can you beat that!?!?

Good burgers and shakes, open late night but the service the worse of its kind, it's almost as if the service is terrible on purpose. As soon as you walk in all the tables are filled with dirty dishes and left over food from other guests who have recently dined and left, for whatever reason they never clean or bus the tables after guests leave, is almost as if they do this on purpose, honestly I've been here before on many occasions and and for many years and each and every time you walk in there is nowhere to sit, not because the tables are occupied but because the tables are filled with dirty dishes. You might have to just grab a seat and hope that the waitress notices you and cleans the table you are sitting at. The burgers and shakes are really good but this establishment needs improvement. I recommend the garlic double cheeseburger. They also offer drive thru service but they are also slow. Come here if you have patience.

I could write a long review but I'm going to keep it short. Good food today - just like every other time I've been in here Horrible service today - just like every other time I've been in here. I have never had a server that had A PLAN. They are all friendly WHEN THEY ARE AT THE TABLE. But I ALWAYS have to tell them "we're ready to order our drinks and food. I have to stand up and wave them down for drink refills or anything else we need. They are usually standing in a group talking and laughing and have a good ol' time. Today the manager was the one telling the loud story while our server was among a few in the huddle listening...meanwhile I waved my arms and loudly asked for more napkins. With so many bad reviews on the service will the managers ever give a crap and do something about it? Probably not. Doesn't seem to hurt business as they've been there forever it seems

I got the frisco melt and a Oreo cookies and cream milkshake. My melt was delicious and was brought out pretty quickly! The melt came with fries which were pretty good-- not the best but still good. The Oreo cookies and cream shake was yummy, it has the perfect amount of cookies in it and was secretly portioned! My fiancé got a royal burger which came with a fried egg in it and bacon, he loved it and said it was delicious. He got his fries with Cajun seasoning which he said was pretty good and I have to say I agree, definitely worth trying! They weren't spicy or anything! He got a chocolate milkshake which he said was great! Overall the service was great and our server was sweet. I would definitely go back, great prices, great food, great service, and open super late too (if you're feeling hungry late at night).

Whoever is working in the drive thru right now should be fired. Didn't repeat my order to even confirm with a simple ok or yes after each item that I listed in my order. No welcome to steak n shake, no thanks pull to the next window. No idea what she even heard me order. All I heard was a total for the order that wasn't even correct but by that point she had stopped responding and I just decided to leave. Sucks you have to work on new years but that's not an excuse to be horrible at your job and discuss respect customers. Work somewhere else if you don't want to work on a national holiday. Hope you get fired.

This place comes in handy for late night eats after a night out. Just the right amount of grease and absorption. Service in the drive-through is pretty slow even late at night.

  • Stephanie S.

I remember when this place used to have good food. Sadly, this seems to be a thing of the past. The cherry coke is great, but everything else is meh. Also, if you order online, expect it to take 2-3 times longer than how long they tell you. I won't be going back, but at least it's cheap, so I didn't waste much money.

  • Ana B.

Nothing special about the food. Burger and cheese fries were mediocre at best. One of the bacon strips on my burger looked very questionable. It didn't resemble bacon at all. I was honestly scared to eat it, so I didn't. But the other strips were fine. Their "steak burgers" are very thin, a little on the overcooked side and flavorless. But for $3.99 for a burger and fries, I don't mind. The fries are the really skinny kind, which some people may or may not like. I didn't get a shake, because I didn't want to spend too much money. I had already paid a fortune for parking at Sun Life stadium earlier but that's a whole different story for another time. I really enjoyed their shakes in the past, especially side by side Strawberry and Vanilla. After I got the bill, I regretted not getting one, because I found out I got half off my soda when I got the bill. Apparently, they have happy hour specials with half priced drinks and shakes from 2-4 am and 2-4 pm. I would have appreciated someone telling me in the beginning or have them advertise it better. Oh well.. I choose to dine-in, because the drive thru line was really long. While it took awhile to be acknowledged and seated, service was great. Our waitress was very friendly and attentive despite being extremely understaffed. A lot of the tables had not been cleaned up--still had uneaten food or trash. But like I said they were very understaffed for the busy 2 am crowd. I would give it 2 stars for food, 3 stars for service and 4 stars for their pricing and convenience. It matched my expectations and previous experiences I have had at this and another Steak and Shake before. If you come here with fast food quality expectations you will see it is on par with its competitors. I prefer McDonald's or Wendy's food, but I will continue to come back occasionaly for late night trips. And get the shake next time as that's the best thing on their menu!.

    (3)
  • Wai Q.

It was very busy today. We went in to grab some shakes and when they came out I was shocked to see how it looked. Nothing like the shakes I had before. Even though it was busy it still shouldn't look like that.

  • Alice A.

Have been there a few times. Service is slow, place is kind of dirty. Last time I was there we had bugs in our water so we just got up, told our waitress and walked out. Never coming back.

The following statement is the NICEST thing I can say about this Steak N' Shake establishment. Terrible. Awful. The GOAT of worst service restaurants. If your server is named Trenton, GTFO immediately. Come at your own peril!!

  • Ashley R.

Had my fascinating breakfast here last week and it was really good. The Steakburger Slinger was really something to eat. The two eggs and sausage patties makes it even tastier. This skillet is wonderful, cant ask for more. The portobello n Sausage was also good, big portions with low cost. This ccould be the ideal food for me because I'm on a tight budget this week. Service was fine and the place was awesome. Steak n Shake is the best!

  • Megan M.

Long waits and really rude staff. But the chicken tenders are good! Love the milkshakes

  • Tiffany T.

Steak and Shake...the epitome of rude, lazy, unsanitary, and unhealthy. This is the kind of place that represents all that is disgusting about America. The food is mediocre, chain diner fare. It's not great food but at $4 for a burger and fries, who's complaining? The major issue I have (as with many other reviewers) is the service. The staff that work here are very poorly trained. There were tons of servers standing around doing nothing when we tried to pay our bill. Nobody acknowledged or even pretended to be busy doing something else. Where the heck is the management? I felt horrible after my meal, the kind of feeling when you get after ingesting 1500 calories of greasy fast food. I don't plan to come back because of the service and lack of cleanliness. The only reason I gave them 2 stars instead of 1 is for being affordable and opening late hours. Passed by a Denny's one block away on my drive home. Next time, I will go there when I need a late night meal.

Steak 'n Shake is one of America's favorite fast food restaurants, house of the famous streak burgers. Although is one of my #1 places to kill my burger craving, coming to this location makes me want to change my habits, maybe hit a good Wendy's burger too. Service was horrible, servers just talking behind the counter while people is starving. I waited for almost 30mnts before getting my food on the table. If you are thinking on coming here and eat a good old fashion burger, make sure to grab a snack for the long wait.

To be clear Steak 'n Shake is a 5 star idea and 5 star spot. I am from STL the Mecca for Steak 'n Shake. Food is so good it's silly. Best Frisco melt, great chili, cheese fries and their shakes are great. Drive-thru at this location. They should be a 5!! Service is consistent...slow and not friendly. Seems like quite a few of their employees don't like being in there..

    (3)
  • Donica B.

Burger and fries all different ways, I ordered the Oktoberfest burger and they bought out the burger without the pretzel bun. That was a no go as the primarily reason I orderedl the particular burger was for the bun. I ordered a Garlic burger and it's was ok. They did issue a discount for the inconvenience.

    (3)
  • Justin B.

Service here sucks, the waitresses smell like marijuana....expect twenty minutes just to order...

    (1)
  • Kara G.

I really want to give this place more stars, I really do. The food is always delicious. I mean I keep coming back strictly because of the food. Their Frisco Melt has a place in my heart, and I love that you can add flavors like vanilla to your soft drinks. The MAJOR problem I have with this location is the service. I have been here close to ten times, but the service absolutely kills me. Expect long waits, to stand there awkwardly waiting to be seated, and another wait just to see who your server is. I often feel ignored here, but alas, their food and milkshakes are so good. I recommend placing your entire food order when the server takes your drink order to avoid waiting longer.

  • Everett L.

This is the worst managed restaurants that I have ever been to. There is absolutely no adult supervision in this restaurant. There are employees that are off-duty in regular street clothes hanging out. The ones who are supposed to be working are preoccupied. The waiters are arguing with the cook, customers are getting up to get their own condiments. I won't be a returning customer, nor will I be recommending this restaurant

    (1)
  • Charles J.

Honestly I rate a place for what it is and SNS is a place for a halfway quick burger. I got the double cheese burger but didn't eat the fries, I thought the burger was great for how they make it. I can't grade the chicken tenders since my buddy Joe got that but they need to give a little more.

    (5)
  • Lee Z.

2 1/2 stars. The service was good. The burgers were not bad, the spaghetti with chili was not really that great; the shakes, however, were delicious. The atmosphere is quite nice, but the bathroom needed to be kept better.

20 mins to be seated in a room full of empty booths, 30 mins for a waiter to actually take drink orders, and an hour to receive your food. The worst service in the food business, should have gone to Denny's that's also open 24 hours. The servers have only a couple tables so there's no reason to not have premium service. The place is dirty and the kitchen floor is filled with fries. The food is good but by the time I actually eat it my stomach has already eaten itself. I don't recommend coming to this establishment to anyone. Last time I will be coming to Steak 'n Shake.

Very unhappy to wait in a long line in the drive thru to then be told at the speaker that we would have to come inside to order 6 meals for my family-in the pouring rain. Generally like Steak and Shake food and shakes-but what terrible service today!

What do you do when its 2am and your starving? You find the nearest establishment. For me, it just so happened to be steak and shake. The service here isn't the best or the friendliest, I guess you get what you pay for? The food is alright for the early morning. And the place is kinda dirty. But I guess that all adds to the ambiance of greasy food glory what is steak and shake. Besides the guy next to us bragging about how much coke he was on, this was a great experience.

I came in with a friend. The place was noisy with kids out past their curfew. I saw girls that where dressed like they were from the 80's, except they where too young to be born anywhere close to that decade. We ordered two shakes with our burgers and fry's. I asked to cook my burger well done and it wasn't. My friend asked for no onions and there where onions on her burger. The fry's where stale and horrible. We finished our meal and they did not get the shakes to us. I told them to forget about it and left. The staff was made up with dumb kids that do not know how to run a business. I saw some of the staff making stupid jokes with the stupid kids there. I guess there was no parental supervision, that night or any other, from the other reviews I saw. I've been to a Steak and Shake in Dallas and I received my milkshake before my burger like it should of been. The food was a lot better and the service was a lot better too. Who ever owns this franchise must be a fat ugly disgusting pig that has no values and they should take away the franchise and restaurant from him. Too bad restaurants do not have health inspectors put graded ratings on the window like in Los Angeles. So I could of seen the "F" ahead of time. It was dirty there as well. Food tasted horrible, my friend says.

30 min to get thru the drive thru line on a sat afternoon - and half of that me sitting in front of the speaker, ready to give my order but was told to wait.

It was very busy today. We went in to grab some shakes and when they came out I was shocked to see how it looked. Nothing like the shakes I had before. Even though it was busy it still shouldn't look like that.

Honestly I rate a place for what it is and SNS is a place for a halfway quick burger. I got the double cheese burger but didn't eat the fries, I thought the burger was great for how they make it. I can't grade the chicken tenders since my buddy Joe got that but they need to give a little more.
