We were in the other night (locals) and the food was excellent. The place is clean and the view is outstanding.

Came here this evening and sat down at the bar to grab a beer and something to eat. I was greeted after 10 minutes despite being one of 7 people here...I finally got service and the bartender was extremely rude when I ordered a drink, but I still ordered the conch fritters and got a dinner menu, but I decided that I probably should finish my appetizer and get dinner elsewhere. As I type this I am still waiting for my check and I think the bartender may have vanished. This review is not based on the food because the conch fritters were amazing, but simply the service. If you want me to spend 20+ on an entree the service team needs a "come to Jesus" meeting.

Ok... We have been here for an hour and a half ... No service ... Had to go to the bar to get our beers... Actually asked for service ... Still nothing... The food may be good but how would we know? Ambience is nice that is why I give it 1 star.

To be clear, I will never go here again, but I thought Pirate's Loft deserved two stars for a couple of reasons. I am a local, was in Port Salerno at 10pm on Friday and this was the only place that I could find with the lights still on and available parking spots (maybe that should have been my hint.) The service really was excellent. Even though the bar was very busy and loud when we walked in, someone helped us right away and she was friendly and smiling. In addition, Friday night is "Country Night" and apparently, they host country bands and teach line dancing. To me, this is absolutely atrocious. The band sounded SO BAD that my husband and I couldn't do anything but laugh and the line dancing was equally as entertaining. It did seem like the regular line dancing crowd was having an excellent time. If the food had been at least decent, I would have probably given a good review, but alas, it was not. We ordered the She Crab soup ($7.00 for a cup!) and really, to me, it was inedible. To think that they call it their house specialty is embarrassing. I think that the only two ingredients might have been cream and orange food coloring. For our entree, we split the Mahi Ruben which was $16 and came with one side. I won't waste your time or mine going into detail. This sandwich was beyond disgusting. Soggy and full of fried fish and coleslaw. We got mashed potatoes on the side and they were okay, though we were not offered any gravy with them and the texture was closer to paste than potatoes. Pirate's Loft was absolutely disgusting, expensive and provided laughably bad entertainment, but if you like line dancing...or watching line dancers, you might want to check it out.

Place is in decline. Once a favorite spot to see friends and familiar faces. They had great bartenders who knew your name and what your drink of choice was. I always felt the food was just average but it was the bars there (both upstairs and down) that I went there for. I knew what bartenders worked what bar on what day. Then slowly like the show survivor bartenders started getting off "the island". They were replaced by unprofessional bartenders who would rather chat with their friends then make you another drink.! So all they have now is a place with a nice view, marina atmosphere that serves just average food and a has a bunch of unfriendly, unpersonable and unprofessional bartenders...I use to go there 3 times a week. Now I have been there 3 times in the past 4 months... Too many other options and from the faces I see there now I can tell I'm not the only one who feels this way.

Really didn't want to go here for dinner after reading previous reviews.Besides the New Year Eve dinner companions, it was a really great dinner. Maureen, our server, was excellent. Never had to search for her.We all had some sort of seafood. From baked stuff shrimp to baked scallops, all very good. I would definately go back.

Slow and steady decline. Food is just OK and when we were in this week there appears to be no management in the restaurant. Severs playing around and talking loudly. Could hear the chef yelling in the back. Service people in during the 12 o'clock lunch hour, seems you would have them in during the morning. When the AC came on it sounded like the space shuttle taking off. Such a shame, we always enjoyed going here before but lately it just isn't the same.

When I saw that Groupon had a deal on the Pirate's Loft, I jumped on the offer because I had heard good things about the restaurant. After dinner there tonight, I am glad I purchased the half-price deal, because it would have been painful to have paid full price for our meals. We arrived a bit after 8 on a Friday night, so the restaurant was still fairly busy and we had to sit inside, which dampened our spirits a bit. I ordered a margarita and the two-piece crab cakes ($17; $22 for three). The complimentary bread before the meal was fine--nothing outstanding, but certainly edible. For some reason, we didn't get our drinks until after the food was delivered, with our server admitting she had to go to the bar herself to make my margarita. It was an average drink, with a bit too much frozen and not enough margarita for $5.90. To call what I received crab cakes was a bit generous--they more closely resembled crab muffins. We thought that they must be the best ones ever because of their diminutiveness, but they were, at best, average. For my side, I ordered the Yukon gold mashed potatoes; I am not sure why they are called that, because they tasted like ordinary mashed potatoes, but the serving did dwarf the crab cakes. Overall, I was disappointed with the food, the service, and the atmosphere (the band playing poor cover versions of 1970s songs didn't help--really, do the singer and the guitarist have to walk around the restaurant while performing?). We do have another Groupon for there, so next time I may try one of the pasta dishes. As for the crab cakes, here's a suggestion: head down to basin Seafood on Salerno Drive, pick up a couple there for $5 each (about twice the size, too), buy the Panko breading, go home and make them yourself. You'll be much happier.

Best Mrs. Peters fish dip around! Drinks are decent. Bartenders have been great every time we've been there. Not too bad food and the atmosphere is good. Good view and access to the water, especially if you have kids.

I have been here many times and I find the food to be average...the serivice is Good and people are nice. Drinks are poured well and it offers a nice on the water atmosphere and early evening bar scene. Other than that there are better places to eat in the Manatee Pocket.

Met some friends there for dinner and drinks. We ordered drinks and appetizers (fish dip and calamari) which we all enjoyed. For an extra $2 you can add a salad to your meal. Hot rolls and whipped butter were served with our salad. Our dinners were baked stuffed shrimp and shrimp scampi. Dessert was home made Mud Pie. Everything was delicious. Derek, our server, was great and tended to our every request. Our bill with tax and tip came to $180. Dinner prices were reasonable but drinks were a little pricey even though we were there during Happy Hour where they took $1 off all drinks. The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars was that we were told by several of the wait staff that if we ordered from the regular menu between 4-6 p.m. we would receive a 20% discount. That was considered to be their "early bird" promotion. When the bill came and we didn't get the discount, the server brought the manager over and he said the promotion was only for the month of February. Well, please inform your staff that the "deal" was off. We did get the discount but I didn't like that we had to discuss it with the manager.

This was probably the worst experience I ever had at a restaurant. I should have gotten the clue when our Waitress said she would be right back because her previous table had left without paying the bill. I went there with a party of 7 and none of us enjoyed anything about the food or service. We had 2 orders of the Fried Calamari (Fresh sliced calamari rings lightly floured and flash fried served with marinara sauce) for 9$ a piece. They were definitely not fresh and the sauce was tasteless. Then I ordered the She Crab Soup(Award winning signature soup) for $5.50 a cup. Im not sure what award it won but it was terrible and there was barely any pieces of crab in it. For the Entree I ordered Seafood Champagne (Jumbo shrimp, lump crab meat and mushrooms in a lobster veloute champagne sauce tossed with linguini) for 22$ There were majors problems with this dish. First of the pasta was overcooked, secondly The jumbo shrimp was not fresh and the crab meat was non-existing also there was no taste of the lobster what-so-ever. Thirdly, the taste was over powered by the massive amount of mushrooms. So over-all everything about this place with the exception of the ambiance is 1 star on a good day. I would not recommend this place to anyone and waste money ,like the 350.00$ I wasted!

I've only been here once and personally i think the food is alright. I like the option of eating outdoors at the bar or indoors in the restaurant. The food didn't blow me away. Infact when we got there they had run out of pretty much everything which is kind of annoying seeing as it was only 8pm. I'll go back for rum runners but I'll pass on the food.

Was decent. She-crab soup was good. Steamers were tiny. I'm from New England and wasn't used them being this way. Conch fritters were overcooked but still good. A little pricey but hey it's a resort.

The food here was good. My wife and I both ordered from the evening's specials, which were a bit more expensive than the general menu and also more complex. I had a Thai spiced salmon, and my wife had Ahi tuna in a Chinese sauce. The ambiance was very nice, as the dining room overlooked the marina. The service was pleasant, but a bit slow at times. On the whole, we had a pleasant dinner, and I would go there again.

Quality varies with who's in the kitchen. Florida Cobb salad is a favorite. View of the Manatee Pocket is superb. Fresh catch of the day can be great.
