This place was just ok.. They try to be authentic, and the style of the food is authentic if that makes sense (they do serve hong kong style noodles).. but the flavor is definitely lacking. I'm very picky about Chinese food though. My boyfriend and I shared two dishes, and neither of them was very good. I won't be going back.

This restaurant is really something, their decoration is top notch. Their egg roll is crispy, the Wonton Soup is flavorful! And their chicken and broccoli is legendary. Have been here two times and have not had any negative experiences, the staff is friendly and the food is hot made to order.

This is exactly the kind of Chinese restaurants I went to growing up. The red vinyl booths and lantern lights with green tassels. LOVED it! We went to this restaurant because of the Yelp recommendations and I'm sad to say there were disappointments but some positives. I ordered the won ton soup and was pleasantly surprised. Great flavor and recommend it. The buffet was small. It seemed like mostly generic dishes with OK flavors. The egg rolls however were as amazing as everyone said. Too bad, we each had one and it was not refilled while we were there :( Nothing was bad but, aside from the egg rolls, no real stand outs. Would probably go back in a few months. Not a lot of dessert to speak off, except for some jello and delicious sugar buns which melted in your mouth. The fortune cookies were VERY good. Rich vanilla flavor you usually don't get anymore. The staff was fine. The host/cashier was very friendly and nice.

While there are plenty of adequate fast food Chinese places everywhere, there are very few sit down restaurants that are even close to New York style. While not a true New York style restaurant it is very good for Florida :) We ordered 2 combo meals - chicken chow mein and sweet sour chicken - both were very tasty. The chow mein is very good - not the typical mush you get from some places. The egg rolls are very good, even though I believe they are vegetable only (not vegan), but still very tasty. The meal combos are reasonably priced at about $9 but you get Pork Fried rice, egg roll, soup (choice won ton or egg drop, both fairly good and tasty) and an entree with it as well as a pot of tea - Mmmm One thing that I look for in Chinese restaurants, is how they serve the food - if the food comes out in those metal covered serving containers - I expect it to be a decent meal and this place did not disappoint. Also, it's a waterfront restaurant - although we weren't able to see too much water since there are no lights - that's one thing I would add if I owned the place - some lighting for the waterway. We will definitely be back for more sit down :) - it's now our go to favorite chinese restaurant

Well this is my first review in Tampa. We went here yesterday for dinner. It was not crowded & we were seated immediately. I had Chicken Fried Rice which was served piping hot & (yay!) just made. A lot of restaurants just make a big batch of fried rice that they go to throughout the day, but not this place. Also they have a full service bar with very reasonable prices for mixed drinks. I will tell you that my Long Island Ice Tea was a little weak, but my girlfriend got the house special which was sweet if not potent. All in all it was a pleasant experience & we will be back.

Yuck!! Undercooked chicken drowning in sauce that was way too sweet. When I mentioned it to waitress and then manager neither seemed to care. Chatged full price for food we didn't eat. Pork fried rice was good, everything else was not. We will NOT go back.

What a hidden gem. The decor and ambiance is a nod to the retro Chinese restaurants I grew up with. We started with a round of Mai tai's. The cocktails were done well and started our meal just right. Food was great. The crab Rangoons were not good but everything else was fantastic. Fried rice was the best!! The service was quick and friendly. We will be back.

Decent American-style Chinese/Polynesian food sadly disappeared in Pinellas County for many years. So sad?? We were left to just suffer and endure strip-mall, carbon-copy, "Chinese" take out. You know the kind. They popped up like culinary weeds, all over Pinellas county and elsewhere. Sure, those may get a dish or two right, but overall are mostly depressing. The fried rice is yellow(??), the meats are of gristle-substandard quality, all fried stuff has a "bad-oil" taste, and the sauce flavors are minimal, at best: sweet, hot, or just cheap-soy-sauce-flavored?? Then by accident, I discovered ZOM HEE. Wow!! My friends and I all agree, walking into the place is almost like a minor time-warp. Back to the days when water chestnuts and pineapple were considered "exotic." When you enter, it almost feels like walking into a missing scene from a Tarantino film? You will never understand this unless you visit in person, so I will not expand further, nor spoil the surprise. Just GO! And please don't let the "retro" pedigree fool you... ZOM HEE makes some seriously tasty and affordable food! Cocktail fans should definitely visit the bar! Very inexpensive and potent retro/tiki drink concoctions, some even served in vintage "Tiki" mugs! My friend swears by the "Tahitian Scorpion!" As for the food? A great way to set a baseline here is to just sample the won ton soup, egg rolls, and fried rice. ALL are top-notch! Actual BROWN fried rice? Wow!! Flavored with REAL soy sauce? Just how long since it's been you've enjoyed that? Zom Hee has a large and expansive menu. I have sampled almost everything now, over the years. Nothing has ever disappointed... My menu favorites? The "Woo Hip Har" is a simple, but magical shrimp dish. The "Woo Shu" chicken is also a must-have. The "Mandarin Pork" is also very good, but request mild or you will definitely feel the heat! As for the service? Family-owned, you will be treated like family too - Kenny, Dave, and the whole crew are awesome! I have been going here enough that they now know me by name, even when I just simply phone in a simple take-out order? Nice... To conclude, if you want to experience the BEST in American-style Chinese/Polynesian food, drinks, and decor... A ZOM HEE visit is a MUST !!

Zoom Hee is my favorite Chinese restaurant in the area! Consistently clean atmosphere, friendly service and fresh food! If you can dine in it is worth it! The decor is to that of a 1950's restaurant. My family doesn't stray from our favorites which is wonton/egg drop soup, vegetable soup with tofu, hot sour soup, schezwan w/tofu & general tso chicken. Personal favorite is the vegetable soup with tofu. There are a variety of vegetables that keep your palate entertained. It is refreshing like a pho without noodles & meat. Low calories! General tso chicken can be over cooked and hard to chew at some Chinese restaurants, NOT at Zom Hee!! The chicken is juicy with a batter that is the right amount of crisp. The sauce is thick and substantial, mild spice. Szechuan veggies with tofu is packed with peppers, pea pods, mushrooms, bamboo shoots and onions to name a few. The tofu is sautéed and cut into thin strips. It feels like a guilt free dish if you don't eat it with rice!

I hate to give this place two stars as the gentleman taking the order was very nice and kind. But the food is pretty bad, except the chicken corn soup which was ok. Shrimp chow fun was terrible. Chow fun is my favorite Chinese dish and I threw it in the trash for the first time. It tasted awful. The shrimp too were tasteless, few, and not done right. Bf didn't eat his orange chicken. The sauce had pineapple and a ton of peppers in it -- never seen that in hundreds of Chinese restaurants but it also didn't taste good. Place looks cozy otherwise but even from the worst of hole in the walls in ny or China, never had worse Chinese food.

Came here today with my husband and a friend. Several people were waiting for take out orders, but we opted to dine in since it was our first visit. The staff were very friendly and attentive. They have a huge cocktail menu. I got an awesome piña colada, however, they gave my friend a Scorpion drink when he really wanted a Mai Thai. It was good, so we didn't ask for it to get changed. They offer hot tea, water, and small appetizers which is nice. Our food was very good overall. They have an extensive lunch specials/combination platters menu and most are around $9. There is something for everyone on the menu. I opted for the Hung Tofu dish, which had a little too much sauce for my taste, but was a huge step up from other Chinese food I've had. I recommend this place for anyone looking to try better quality Chinese food as well as anyone in the mood for cocktails under $6. We will be back!

In our quest for good Oriental cuisine in Pinellas County, we stopped by the highly rated Zom Hee and we were not disappointed. It is located in the back of a white stucco strip center on the north side of Park Blvd. just a little west of Starkey Road in Seminole, Florida. Although the restaurant is unassuming on the outside, the interior is full of 1950's Oriental kitsch. It is quite a large place with lots of booths and a separate bar area serving thirst quenching Tiki adult beverages and all sorts of libations. The menu is expansive and quite varied. While we mulled over the menu, we ordered the Zom Hee Pupu platter for two($12.95). Being a child of the 50's, I can appreciate an ample, delicious Pupu platter. (see pic) It had fork tender ribs, huge chicken wings, their good egg rolls, krab rangoon, fried shrimp, beef teriyaki and rumaki. Even the rumaki was good and I'm not the biggest fan of chicken livers but their bacon wrapped and fried livers were tasty. For entrées, we ordered the Pineapple Shrimp($11.95), the Duck with Black Mushrooms($12.95) and the Subgum Lo Mein($10.25). (see pics) The shrimp(8) were covered in a sweet sauce with pineapple pieces and maraschino cherries. The duck was huge, moist and tasty. The lo mein was what would normally be called the 'House Special' lo mein other places with chicken, pork and shrimp. All of the dishes were piping hot and delicious. Despite the large crowd on this Friday night, the staff was speedy and friendly. I am already planning on our next visit. I will try to work my way through their menus of both food and Tiki drinks(extra umbrellas)! Please give them a try, you will not be disappointed.

Brandon and I came here for date night last week, and we were both impressed. The food was very good. They were super busy though and only had one waitress so the guy at the front came around to make sure everyone was doing okay. The quality of the food was awesome, I ordered sweet and sour chicken, and i was very surprised when an entire chicken breast came out. It wasn't what I was expecting but it was definitely good. The fried rice was on point too, I've been craving fried rice lately so this definitely did the trick for me :) Brandon ordered the Sesame chicken and he usually isn't a big fan of Chinese food but he was impressed and really enjoyed his meal, his came with white rice. I wish they had more smaller combo platters at the front of their menu, they were awesome deals but there weren't very many choices. Overall very delicious and good experience.

I have been looking for a place like this for twenty years. Anyone who grew up on NY style chinese food and has been scratching their head wondering, "what happened"?, can turn back the clock and actually get wonton soup with flavor, real pieces of pork, and greens: fried rice that is brown, not yellow, with plentiful pork and no peas and carrots; chicken that is chicken; shrimp that is large and fresh and an old style lounge that whips up old style concoctions like Tahitian Scorpions. Atmosphere will bring you back to the 80's. Service is first rate from people who take pride in the wonderful restaurant that provides the best Chinese in Florida. Bravo!

The best Chinese that I've had in Pinellas County. I was freaking out after I located here from out-of-state. I tried multiple Chinese restaurants and each was worse than the next. Sadly, I gave up Chinese. After a trip up North, I had a determination to find a comparable Chinese restaurant. I gave this place a chance and they came through. Love the food! Love the staff! Love the management! The restaurant is large and accommodating. When you call in an order for pick up, it's ready lickity split. The management is also happy to accommodate you with any substitutions or special needs. Highly recommend this place!

Went back here a few months ago when I was visiting Florida. It is still super yummy. This time I went for an early dinner, and being Florida, it was super crowded at 5:30 pm, service was pleasant and attentive. This is a regular stop whenever I visit my friend in the area.

Oh Zom Hee, how I love thee. I have such find memories of this restaurant. As a kid, we use to go here each Sunday after church for their buffet. Fast forward almost 25 years, and they are still going strong. I'm not in Seminole too often, but I did pass by it today and I was instantly brought back to my childhood. I pulled in and ordered a wonton soup to go. I've been craving Chinese lately, so thought why not get me some Zom Hee. When I entered, it was exactly how I remembered it being....old school Chinese with the lanterns hanging, the red hues, the Chinese painting above the cash register, and the beads hanging as a separation between the restaurant and bar. It was a pleasant surprise to see they still offer the lunch buffet, 7 days a week. When I'm in the area again, I can see myself stopping in to check it out and to take a trip down memory lane.

I ate at Zom Hee yesterday for lunch with my father. We both had the General Tso's lunch combo. It wasn't on the lunch special menu but you could make it a combo for $1 extra. The General Tso's came in a good size portion. It had a little too much sauce but it was still delicious! The combo also came with soup, fried rice and an egg roll. All three were tasty but the fried rice and egg roll beat the standard Chinese takeout joints that I'm used to. Their egg rolls are huge! I will definitely be back!

This really is as good as it gets for me. Jerry H stole my thunder, we've been coming here for at least 10 years and this is definitely my go to place for Chinese food. Now, I want to say this.....this is not your run of the mill Chinese Buffet, although they do have a Buffet for lunch every day. This is a real classic Chinese experience, with a noticeable Cantonese flare. I say this as sort of a warning to those who are not familiar with this style of Chinese food. There is flavor galore in this type of cooking. As an example, the fried rice is not yellow (they do have white rice) it's brown with a rich flavor. When both of my daughters moved down here one of the things they missed was the great Chinese food they were used to up in New England. I eased their minds by telling them "worry no more, I've found the right restaurant." We enjoy ordering a few appetizers "golden fingers" and "pan fried dumplings." Shrimp toast is also good too. Then we each order one of their (6) combination platters. My favorite is green pepper steak, others are pork egg foo young, chicken chow mien, to name a few. All come with rice, egg roll, chicken wing, and choice of soup. I've got to say that Zom Hee has the best egg rolls I've ever tasted, period. Great wonton soup too. They have a very extensive menu also. Kenny is a very personable and hands on owner, who always visits your table to make sure all is well. David is a wonderful warm person who makes great drinks from the bar, a full bar BTW. On New Year's Eve we get a huge order from Zom Hee and shuttle it up to Dunedin for our New Year's Eve dinner. It's a great tradition that we had up in Mass. That continues here in Florida. Thanks to Kenny and Zom Hee!

This is a great place to go for a special occasion, as I've been going here for my birthday since at least 2006. Ordered Subgum Egg Foo Yung tonight with a Wonton soup. Portions are fairly big, as you get egg patties covered in sauce that are a good three inches in diameter, I would estimate, plus rice. They always give you a fortune cookie with the bill as well. Always love it here, and they always keep me coming back!

Been in Largo for 4 years this is the 1st time we have tried this place. We have tried a lot of others and they all are awful. Hard to find a place even close to the food up north, BUT ZOM HEE is AWESOME. We got take out and I ordered it when I got there an it was out in 10mins and the nice man who took my order offered me a drink while I waited!! All of the food was hot and yummy and we got a lot of different things to try. The only thing is the sweet & sour chicken next time we will get the sauce on the side as it got a little soggy on the drive home but it was still very good. The veggie fried rice awesome! General Toa's Didn't get it spicy so we could taste the flavor was the best Ive had in years(next time going for spicy) veggie low mein was great and krab ragoon very tasty and the egg rolls were great too! This will be the only place we order Chinese Food from now on!!

My family and I have been going to this Chinese restaurant for a very long time. We always order on New Years Eve and they wait to close until our order comes in. Recently found out that they can make many of the items in the menu Gluten Free. This is great since it's very hard to eat Chinese food having a gluten intolerance. Thanks Kenny for making such great food.

This is a wonderful place to any day of the week, food is wonderful and the restaurant is clean. As soon as you sit down you are giving Hot tea :) we will be back best egg roll in town.

This is some of the best Chinese food I've ever had. My family and I got a bunch of stuff and split everything, and all the food was so delicious. We got pork fried rice, chicken lo-mien noodles, chicken curry, and orange beef. The chicken lo-mien was my favorite- I probably ate over half the container by myself... oops :p The chicken curry and orange beef weren't spicy at all, which they're supposed to be, so if you like spicy food ask for extra spicy. My family loves spicy food, but I'm a complete baby when it comes to spicy food and even I thought they weren't spicy. I didn't mind though, because that meant I could try them! The fortune cookies were also really good! I don't know what they do differently than the other places but they tasted better. Maybe that's just me, but it was a nice ending to the meal.

Worst dinner ever. Ordered the Mongolian beef. The steak came in chunks I couldn't even tell what kind of meat its was. It was different colors and hard to cut. Service was so slow we have to get up and head to the door so we could pay for lousy food. Never will go back.i

Staff was very friendly. Large portions but food is only ok. We tried chicken fried rice, orange chicken, szechwan chicken, and general tsos.

This place wasn't awful, but it was barely edible. Everything was so soaked in grease and flavorless. Nothing that myself or my friends who I are here with seemed like it was freshly made. Our server kept forgetting to get us refills on our drinks and mostly ignored us. On the plus side, I didn't get sick from it. I wouldn't go back.

Had a small vacation to the coast with my daughter for a ballgame. We both wanted Chinese so we found this place on Yelp. 4.5 stars, at the time, and we headed that way. The place is one from the outside that you would look over and continue driving. Inside the decor is customary, but the FOOD IS AMAZING! Try the tea it is a wonderful mood elevator. Met a wonderful couple on the beach, they went there as well and raved about it the next day. We will return so glad they have stayed in business this long and continue to stay true to the food!

I really enjoy this restaurant. The food has always been extra tasty. They give you plenty of food and have very friendly wait staff. I would give the food a 5 and the restaurant's quality a 0. The restaurant is very dirty. Every time I sit in a booth, I find food still on the tables and tossed into the seats. The table tops are sticky and smell like dirty mildew water. I was very surprised one day when I had to use the bathroom. Let's just say I held it until we left. The buffet is very old and looks like it's never been cleaned. It's a real bummer for me because the food is incredible. But, I am worried about the quality since the place is so dirty. Hopefully they clean up.

  • Jennie W.

Love Zom Hee!!! I'm a big fan of Chinese food and this place is great. They have a very small buffet but the food quality and selection is great. The owners are very personable and remember you when you come in. The egg rolls are the best I've had in the Tampa Bay Area. They bring you out a little pot of tea and soup. I've only had the wonton and it's delicious. I would continue to come here as long as they're in business.

Wonderful service, large portions and very delicious. Old style atmosphere, reminds me of a place back home in the 80's, which was probably leftover from the 70's, lol.

  • Beverly H.

Really good Chinese food! LOVE LOVE LOVE the pork fried rice, honey chicken, and dumplings! Also appreciate the to go orders come in a box so when I get home it isn't a mess! I have not tried the lunch or dinner buffet, however it seems reasonably priced. I have only ordered food to go.

  • Karen D.

I have heard many good things about Zom Hee, so I decided to give it a try with my girlfriend. I have to be honest, I went there expecting the restaurant to be the most amazing Chinese buffet experience I've had in my life. I left feeling a little let down. Zom Hee is just your typical Chinese buffet restaurant in regards to food. It wasn't terrible - better than other buffets - but it wasn't excellent, and I judge this by the quality of the food not the quantity. The service earns an A- for effort. The manager was very tentative to our needs, but at the very end a waitress kind of threw our check on our table and left. Interior of the restaurant was quite lovely. It does offer a nostalgic atmosphere of Chinese buffet dining when I was a kid, so it felt great to sit down and relax here. I wouldn't come here on a frequent basis, but I wouldn't mind stopping by again.

I'm a little torn on this review of our take-out. On one hand, we didn't get soup that we ordered and we were drastically overcharged by $5+ when it should have been $22, but we're not sure for what. My husband didn't catch the missing soup or the extra charge, unfortunately. On the other hand, the food was really good. I got the General Tso's chicken, non-spicy. This is always my first test of an Asian restaurant. Lots of sauce, not too spicy, good flavor. Not a lot of vegetables, so I had enough for my dinner, my husband's lunch tomorrow and my lunch tomorrow. I also had an egg roll. It wasn't your standard, 'everyone has the same egg roll' egg roll. The cover was really crunchy, and different in texture from the standard. I don't usually eat the filling, but it wasn't bad. Husband got the Zom Hee special, and he enjoyed it. Ate the whole thing but a few veggies at the bottom. We had white rice in the take-out box and fried rice, though we didn't order the fried rice specifically. However, it was really good! It had a bit of a smoked taste to it and we really enjoyed it. I'd go back there for that alone. Best we've had in Florida in two years of trying all different restaurants. They packed in some of those noodles La Choy sells at the grocery store, and there were really large chips in there. They also sent 5 sugar cookies and 5 fortune cookies, and 1 tea bag. Overall, we enjoyed the food. However, I don't enjoy being charged $5 over what it should have been, being that we were missing soup that might have never even made it to the order. We'll go back but we'll definitely come armed with the right amount written down first, and also check EVERY SINGLE THING IN THE BOX.

This is some of the best Chinese food I've eaten in a long time. We've done take out for dinner and I've dined in for lunch. They have a small buffet, but I chose to pick something off the menu. But I figure the size of the small buffet ensures fresh, quality food. The guy who usually checks us out is so nice and always remembers me. Don't even think about adding a tip on take out if you pay by credit card. He won't allow it. Their eggrolls are awesome, their low mein is great, as well as their beef and broccoli which is my husbands favorite. I'm always leery of Chinese restaurants, but this is a good one!

Zom Hee is a family owned and operated Chinese restaurant and prides itself on having loyal patrons for the past 28 years! They work very hard to give customers the best dining experience. Christmas Day is the busiest day of the year. I was there for Xmas 2012! They exceeded seating capacity with loyal customers. It was very very busy and we thank our customers for their patronage and support !

Zom Hee is my go-to Chinese restaurant. I've eaten there for over ten years and it is consistently good. The hot & sour, egg drop and wonton soups are all good. I love the shrimp with lobster sauce and the kung pao chicken, too. Their house special fried rice is a winner. The egg rolls are pretty good. The only thing I would avoid is the crab rangoon. Very friendly service and a great atmosphere. Beautiful decor. I highly recommend Zom Hee for a solid Chinese choice.

This restaurant is as good as it gets in Pinellas county. This is not your usual Chinese take out joint. This is a proper sit down restaurant that does food with lots of flavor. Even their fried rice is significantly better than the other places. This place is not a fast food Chinese eatery. They are not trying to rush you out and their employees are very professional and treat their costumers with respect. I should point out that they do take out and we use it quiet often. I'm glad this place is relatively close to where I live, we will continue to eat here when we get the cravings for Chinese food.

By far the BEST Chinese food I have found in Florida so far. Food is very good. They will cook to suit your taste and are willing to turn what you order into a combo plate. Portions are a good size. They have a side room which is good for large groups or parties.Owner and staff are very friendly. Place is very clean. They are tucked away in the back of a mini mall so they are a bit hard to find but just follow your nose and you will find this Chinese gem. Highly recommend.

Finally! My search is over. I now have a favorite sit down Chinese Restaurant. I have been in Florida since last October and haven't been too thrilled with any Chinese Restaurant. Been to a few good buffets but the is going to be one of my spots. Where ever I have been the fried rice has been yellow, why I don't know. Zom Hee roast pork rice was fabulous, brown like it was supposed to be. We had pan fried dumplings & ribs for appetizers and roast pork egg foo young combination plates for dinner. Everything was delicious! Will be back real soon!

Took my family here for lunch one day and service/food was excellent! I love that they put a pot of lavender tea on the table as soon as you sit down. All the service we received from the wait staff and even the owner was great. Everyone was attentive and the food came out piping hot! Delicious beef and broccoli, fried rice, and curry. Would recommend this place to anyone that wants a great meal! Takeout was good too on another night as well.

Nice place with a small lunch buffet plus a full menu. The lunch buffet is priced at 6.95 and changes daily. Everything tasted very fresh, and they kept the buffet clean and stocked. It didn't seem like they let the food sit too long. The only negative about the buffet is that the food was a bit bland, although again, it tasted fresh. Service was good. For the price, it is a worthwhile lunch stop.

Thank you fellow yelpers! I've been looking for a nice sit-down chinese restaurant near my work for awhile and finally decided to search on yelp today for one and found this review. This place is classic chinese food. We were going to order from the menu, but the only waitress that was there was pretty busy so we decided to go for the buffet. WOW. Glad we did. At first the buffet seems under-whelming because it's not as big as other buffet places. However, it's obvious that they focus on quality not quantity. I pretty much eat everything and everything that I had was so good. My friend that I went with made a good comment "it's ashame how used to mediocre chinese we have gotten." That pretty much sums up how we were both pleasantly surprised! This is also the first chinese place I've been to in awhile that actually gives you your own tea pot on the table. I haven't seen that in years! The wait-staff was busy but EXTREMELY nice and attentive to re-fills, soup, and desert. The owner was around and helping out also and he was very personable and nice. There was an older lady that came in while we were there who was asking "where's Kenny?" just so she could say 'hello' to him. You don't see that anymore. And the staff knew the lady also and chatted with her for a second. The restaurant itself is nice, definitely 70's style but to me, that was nostalgic and reminded me of when I was younger and our family would go out to eat chinese at a nice sit-down restaurant. I added a picture to their business profile of the dining room. Main points to take away: try everything if you get the buffet, you will not be disappointed, try the orange sherbert...mmmmm Can't wait to go again, Tom

Not very authentic Chinese at all. The rolls were greasy and the stuff was sour. We tried the wontons and they came not so hot...literally the broth was Luke warm. Wasn't up for much more so just had the house fried rice and that was okay to say the least. My opinons not yours so... The area is getting so bad, lots of hoodlums at night, lots of run down businesses around the resturant.

Went to try the lunch "buffet". It was an embarrassment. It also wasn't very tasty. Price was minimal so you shouldn't have high expectations. To their credit the service people were very professional and polite. I gave them the second star for this. Unfortunately there isn't reason to give the food a second chance. I'll offer up that those reviews touting this as good or authentic (Americanized) Chinese food have never had the real thing in a large city's Chinatown like NY or CA.

Went on Christmas Day Evening. Food was mixed, some good and some not so good, but service was very slow and all we got were excuses and absolutely no efforts to make up for the bad services.

Attention local companies! Zom Hee offers catered banquets for your organization. I had them put together a Chinese buffet for a retirement party. 3 of their employees came to set up the buffet properly for us. It was a HUGE success. I needed to serve 150 employees and it went off without a hitch. Employees raved about the food and as the H.R. Manager, I was relieved. We went all out for this buffet. Price will of course be determined by size and the entrees you select. We have PLENTY of food which is far better than not having enough!

I LOVE this place. I'm not a big Chinese food person. Most of it I rather just not even bother. So when my boyfriend said we should try it, I wasn't very interested. The decor inside is really kitschy/1970's with red flocked wallpaper but don't let that fool you. The food is just the best Chinese I've ever eaten. I love their Sweet and Sour Chicken which comes as full white meat breasts breaded, fried and sauced with fresh cut tomatoes and pineapples. (Most places give you "nugget" style pieces for Sweet and Sour Chicken and I really don't like the mystery filler in that style.) My boyfriend gets the General Tso's (in mild) and again, it's just a different presentation than most chain take-out locations. The owner, Kenny is such a nice guy. He knows us after all these years and always greets us and gives us little extras (like dumplings or something.) We live all the way in Tampa these days so we don't get down there as often as we'd like but when we do, it's such a treat. I know they have a limited delivery area and they do takeout as well if you want to come and pick it. I believe they also have lunch specials and a buffet as well. It looks like a dinky plaza with some tacky decor but the food and staff more than make up for it's kitsch factor. Give it a try - especially if you're like me and you think you really don't like Chinese food. You just haven't had the right stuff yet!

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
