No lie I couldn't make up how bad the service was. The waitress didn't bring our appetizers. Then when we asked for one roll to not be served near shellfish, that roll was served 15 minutes before the rest of the meal was served. When we asked the server why we never received our appetizers she said we never ordered them even when we had written them down on the paper with our sushi. She also argued that the writing on said paper she thought was our names when it said steamed dumplings. We used to love going here and had eaten here at least once weekly but clearly won't be coming back.

I have never reviewed a restaurant before, yet here I am. AND I made a yelp account just to review this restaurant. The food is literally in front of me right now and I hopped on the computer to write this. First time going there, Friday night; ordered from Grub Hub (although I wish I went on here and read the reviews first). Walking in, there was maybe 3 tables with customers... at 8 o'clock on a Friday night, that was my first red flag... now I understand why though. The waitress/hostess was not friendly or welcoming at all. I got the, "I'd rather not be at work vibe from her." almost like I was bothering her, but I understand she could not be having a good night, so I shrug it off. I get home, excited to try the food... until I tried it. On Grub Hub it lists the ingredients in the description, I -assumed- that they would list whether a dish is spicy or not (even at other sushi/Thai restaurants there is usually a symbol or warning for the spice level). I am NOT a fan of spicy, and in all my life I have NEVER ordered fried rice from anywhere and it be spicy; it was even unbearable for my bf who usually loves spicy food. They also gave us the wrong spring rolls which contained mushrooms which I also do not like (...that's why I didn't order that...) Not to mention after spending almost $60 on our food, after we got home and was making our way trying everything, we noticed they didn't even include one of our dishes in the bags!!!! I would normally call and make my way over there, but honestly I assume it won't taste good either so I'd rather just cut my losses. We wanted a quick pick up meal for a reason, not to have to go back out in the rain to get the food that we paid for. Their sushi was not good either, it didn't taste fresh, the flavors didn't 'mend' well together. We actually only went here because we went to our normal sushi place earlier this week and were craving it but thought we'd try something new. Never going again!!! Sushi Kabuki in Bardmoor is WAYYYYY better; I will never stray from them again!! TLDR: DON'T GO HERE; OVERALL TERRIBLE EXPERIENCE.

The service was good, but they were out of some of the ingredients for the sushi rolls we asked for. I liked that they also offered Thai food. The I had Pad Woon Sen and it was a-OK.

So FUJIYAMA is now under a different owner (as of Oct 1 2011). The night we went, they were having a reopening party in the restaurant. However it seems like they still have the same menu for now. The service was good and fast. I liked their pat thai very much. However the amount of seafood in it was lacking unfortunately and I thought it was a little overpriced. The sushi......I am a sushi lover and their sushi just did not meet my expectation. They have lots of variety but the taste just didn't click so well. Maybe they put too much thought into creativity and actually forgot to test the their creative rolls' tastes?? Overall this place was okay. The thai food was good but not the sushi. Maybe they should have just stuck with only Thai.

We've been dining at Fujiyama for a couple years, but we won't be going back. While the decor is nice and the restaurant and bathrooms are clean, the quality of the food has been going downhill for a while now. As a concrete example of this, their tempura fried calamari appetizer, which used to be a hot, sweet, family favorite devolved on our last two visits into seven fishy smelling rings on browning, wilted iceberg lettuce. Yuck! We have always tipped well and are greeted warmly when we arrive, but there is just no excuse for the poor quality of food now coming out of their kitchen. I blame it on their participation in a coupon program which has brought them lots of new business, but which probably is a blow to their profit margins. In response, they have cut portion sizes of all their entrees by approximately half and started putting some cheap ingredients into dishes where the don't belong. The following description is not an isolated incident, just the last one I'm willing to have here. My Pad Woon Sen, which I've had very properly made before at Fujiyama, was a mess at our last dinner, full of half cooked large chunks of celery which overpowered the delicate flavors of all the other vegetables. There were also two large broccoli florets, again half raw, in the dish as if they just fell there. Neither of these vegetables are listed in the menu item description nor have they been included in the dish on previous visits. Peanuts were also garnishing my plate, unannounced, which I didn't mind. However, if you have food allergies, beware. I also used to love their sushi, but now I am wary of it's freshness due to my bad experience with the calamari. I just won't chance it. There are too many conscientious, well stocked sushi places as local competition for me to risk my health or taste buds here anymore. It's too bad. We really used to like this place and went at least once a month. We have tried to give gentle feedback, without requests for any comps or refunds, but it has fallen on deaf ears. Other, new customers might not realize how diminished this restaurant has become, but we have been too disappointed to return.

We had the sushi here a few months ago. They also have Thai food it looks like, but we didn't have any Thai so cannot comment on that. As for the sushi, it was not the greatest...... sushi unfortunately was not fresh. I like fresh salmon which they gave a couple of slices, but they skimped with the rest by adding smoked salmon. The sashimi slices for the price.... were very thin and not worth it. Wine prices decent, but sake prices are high for the small bottle that you get. The rolls were average. Overall, not the most horrible sushi I've had, but definitely not good enough for us to go back to... Oh, there were a lot of families in there with young kids. So it looks like a good place for families. I wouldn't recommend it for couples, dates, etc. Decor inside was nice enough.

Originally, this restaurant was top notch. My friends and I went there every month for half-off sushi and nearly every time the food was fresh, delicious, and the service great. The restaurant was cleaned, though the location wasn't. However, the last couple of times were unforgiveable, and I would not ever return here. Some of my friends have voiced the same opinion (e.g. Oh, our friend John is arranging a meeting to go to Fujiyama, if you're in the mood for sushi why didn't you go there? Friend: Meh, the last time I went was terrible and their food has been going downhill). However, the last couple of times I have visited there has been severe issues. We ordered all our food together, but my boyfriend and I did not receive our meal until twenty-five - thirty minutes after our friends. The food was not fresh, it did not taste good, and the waitress sat and argued with me over a gratuity that was by default added to our bill because we used a groupon. I understand if I was incorrect, but a waitress should not argue with a patron like that, it left a sour taste in my mouth (as did the food) and I felt taken advantage of when our groupon turned out to be more money than what we would have saved using 1/2 off sushi (I am not sure why the waitress would not try to save us money). We tipped the force gratuity (18%) and not much else.

My boyfriend, Marlo and I were there Saturday, Sep 22nd...arriving at around 8:45 pm...both of us in the restaurant business. We were treated like ROYALTY! We told them what we liked...and they fixed us up with 3 GREAT dishes!! They have been there forever, and I am ashamed to say i have only been ther twice since I officially moved here 2 yrs ago.( I will definitely be there more now).... This place is true blue! Authentic cuisine, and service with a smile...We LOVED IT

This used to be one of our favorite sushi places. So, when they offered a LivingSocial voucher, we jumped at it. Unfortunately, it seems that the business has changed hands and they never bothered to inform LivingSocial or Groupon, with whom they also had a voucher, of the change. My daughter and I drove 20 miles tonight to find out that they have no intention of honoring the voucher. We were sorely disappointed and left without ordering. This is poor communication, and we will not be back.

My wife and I went out for sushi the other night. Having just moved from Hillsborough County to Pinellas County I was interested to see what this side of the bay had for sushi. We settled on Fujiyama in Seminole. Two Sapporo's and two ginger salads to start out. We went with the following rolls: Jack's N-S-N, Volcano, King Kong, and FujiYama. All in all, a good sushi experience.

As an individual who has known the Fujiyama staff for at least five years, I hate to have to write this review. However, as a Yelper it's my duty to provide accurate feedback about places I go to. Therefore... I present to you this update. The last few reviews do not lie - service has steadily deteriorated over the last year. What's more disappointing is that the longer you've known the staff, the more they tend to ignore you. This is a case that I've been experiencing for several months, so it is not a recent discovery. I have waited for an improvement, but none has appeared. The only people that haven't ignored us are the sushi chefs, but that's probably because we sit at the bar every time we eat. Our check almost never arrives - on occasion it will - unless we ask for it or go up to the register. The one thing I can say is that the staff defends our service dog from anyone, and that's something I appreciate. Quality of the food has also been declining, and more recently (within the past couple of months) at a faster rate. There have been many instances where I'll taste something crunchy that's not fish or cucumber, and at one point my spicy tuna roll was much darker than it usually looked, and tasted like it had gone bad. During my most recent experience, I was served tap water - like, smell-it-taste-it tap water. I was definitely not impressed. I have no qualms about about the cleanliness of the interior and bathrooms. They're always kept tidy, and the sushi chefs wash their fish display every night right before closing. Unfortunately, I simply cannot turn a blind eye to poor customer service any longer. I would highly suggest they consult a business management and marketing trainer to develop better decision-making skills (sorry you shouldn't charge 50 cents for extra eel sauce; if anything I suggest increasing the rolls by 5 cents since the fish market is more likely to fluctuate, not condiments). I can honestly say that I don't plan on returning to Fujiyama. If I do, it will be because my ma still loves the restaurant and wants us to go.

Some of the best sushi in all St. Pete! I normally always get the Tampa Roll, Mexican Roll, and my new favorite is the Volcano Roll. The Volcano Roll has the most flavor I have ever experienced with sushi and it is topped with crab. I also recommend the Sexy Man. That is the second most flavorful and is topped with eel sauce. Also go on Tuesday nights, they have a 50% off a bunch of sushi rolls. Service could be better though, it seams like you have to ask for the check when you are done because it seems like they will never bring it.

From this outside I didn't expect a lot from this place but I realized some of my favorite restaurants have ended up being part of a strip mall like this one, they're like hidden treasures. My husband and I came here for dinner a few nights ago and loved it. Our waitress was very attentive. They even had the sweet potato roll which is my favorite. The only reason I took a star off is because I thought the ginger salad could have been a little bit fresher but it still wasnt bad. Will come back here again soon.
