    Pretty darn good seafood here.

It's hard to screw up a fried seafood basket, so I know when one's done particularly well. The breading (and special sauce!) on the conch fritters and fried fish and shrimp was delicious. Would absolutely go and order again. Live music and lively atmosphere with a large enclosed patio seating area.

We just left Squid Lips for a late lunch. Nice view. When we were here there was a storm so we didn't really get to enjoy the beautiful view has much. All seats are inside there is no outdoor seating. I had the chicken teriyaki sandwich, it was yummy. Also the fried shrimp was great. The only negative thing I can say is that we asked the lady who sat us if we could be seated facing out looking at the water. She said they were reserved but they stayed empty the whole time we were there. We had Shawn has our server. He was pleasant and vey patient with my mother-In Law who couldn't decide what she wanted to eat . yelp is offering a free appetizer which he happily honored. Over all it was good to try but not sure if we will be back.

Nothing stellar here beyond the view. Food was just average. Nothing on the menu stood out to me, so I asked for a recommendation. I was recommended the Abaco Fish Sandwich - as the menu describes "A coconut fried fish filet topped with mango chutney and smothered in swiss cheese." What I received was a sandwich so greasy, and so sweet that I couldn't finish it. the "mango chutney" was actually cheap jelly/preserves of some kind. Which would be sweet enough on its own. However, when paired with an overly fried coconut crusted filet of fish, it was over the top. I understand that ordering the dish was ultimately my choice, and I live with that. However, you can't ignore its poor preparation and misleading "chutney" description. Service was average. Prices are fair as portions are large. Bottom line - not sure if we'll go back.

Nothing spectacular here, but it's our go-to if we want good river views in Sebastian. Service has always been good, and if you sign up for their e-club, they email out great coupons. In terms of the food, it's pretty much the same thing that Mulligan's and Captain Hirams offers. Just wish there was something noteworthy and exciting!

You know - this place was just ok. The ambiance and view were great but the service was bad from the beginning. They blamed it on how busy they were but towards the end, when it came to tip/payment time, they all of a sudden became very attentive. The food was good, nothing to rave about. I will say that the salads and bread were pretty delicious along with the mai tai. Oh and the chicken tenders were the best I have ever had. I might go back for appetizers and drinks but other than that it was fairly overpriced.

Typical Florida over the water on the docks kinda fried seafood joint. Open and airy with a good vibe, had a live band playing the typical Buffet vacation songs. The menu was pretty large and most of it was fried something or other and the standard grouper sandwich, baskets of seafood, fish and chips, etc... The cracked conch (also fried) was pretty good except too much batter for my tastes. The lobster-crab cakes were pretty good as was the jerk style grouper (although the jerk was americanized). I will say this, if you are hungry it is worth it as the portion size is pretty large. Service was friendly and fast.

Very good service good food and overall good experience don't fall for the tourist trap ( captain whatever's ) down the street this place is actually worth it.

My boyfriend and I were apprehensive at first to try out this place based on reviews, and man are we glad we did! Delicious food at an average price! Happy hour specials are bomb too! We had the calamari to start and it was fantastically cooked! Crispy and not chewy like some squid can be. We ordered drinks that came out in less than 5min. For entree I had the crunchy fish BLT and it was so fresh and delicious! I couldn't believe how much we enjoyed ourselves. Only negative is everything came out so quickly so felt a little rushed. Older crowd. A lot of smokers. I will be back here next time in the area!

Loved this restaurant. We stopped by on vacation because we had a Groupon and man what deliciousness. We had so much food though you almost had to roll us out to the car. The mahi was insanely good and the stuffed shrimp was delicious. If I had to make 1 negative comment it would be the conch fritters were not that great. The staff however was amazing! The 80's music was off the hook!

Great view! Nice selection of food and drinks with good prices for both. Service was just ok. Could use updating and a motivating manager. Was a bit on the boring side for such a nice location. I will go back and give it another look.

Love this place for seafood. Great atmosphere. When I have guests in town Squidlips is one of the places I take them. The only complaint is that Their burger rolls are too sweet for my taste I wish there was a choice To get a regular roll or a sesame roll. Other wise it's a great place

  • Amanda D.

The food is delicious, presented nicely, and you get a nice portion. The only downside is you have to pay extra for fries or a side item. Other than that I'm pleased. As far as the atmosphere goes, it has a beautiful view. On most days there is a cool breeze that makes dinning outside very pleasant. On our first visit it was terribly hot though. Moving on to the staff; they are very pleasant and courteous no complaints. All in all I will continue to keep coming back to this quaint local spot. Side note: the birds are not a bother but there will be the occasional tourist who feels the need to feed them despite the signs which tell you not to.

A good place to stop for lunch. I agree with prior posts, the food was average but it was a view while eating. Unfortunately we had a bad waitress experience, but the other staff seemed to be much more friendly. I would recommend.

Went for an early dinner and they seat us in the back corner by the walkway. Halfway through dinner they seat a large table next to us with lots of children. It's obviously the location they use for that. We should not have been sat there. We are older couple with no children. I understand that kids are naturally loud but that was crazy loud.

Stopped in for a nice lunch on the water. Nice view, food was good. Really enjoyed the coconut fish sandwich that my wife ordered, wished I had ordered it too. Mahi Reuben was good, coconut mahi was better!

Overall a place with gorgeous views, but average food you'd expect to see at any waterfront fish spot. The restaurant is located out on a dock and has views all around of the river and marina. But the food is what I expected - standard fish entrees that are really hard to mess up. I had grilled salmon, which was just okay. But I also tried some of the fried dishes which were MUCH better, and I would definitely recommend the fish n chips basket or fried fish sandwich. The conch fritters with special sauce was also tasty, but not amazing. The staff wasn't particularly friendly, but the food came out quickly. A very "meh" experience culinary wise, but the views and location made up for it. Worth a trip if you're looking for a safe place to take a family with kids.

Good food, good service, great view, save leftover french fries and bread to feed the fish. I thought the fish was cooked beautifully but my husband thought it was a little under done. He is a well-done kind of guy. The breading was light and tasty. You should go there at least once in your lifetime.

Fun place on the water, we have been here twice Lindsay was our waitress and she gave great advice and wonderful service :) we are living life by the sea- or river in this case!!

Six of us were at Squid Lips Tuesday for the shrimp special. It had been raining most of the day, so it was very nice in the beginning, gentle breeze coming thru. They had all the plastic down except for one window where four people were sitting. The wind picked up, and became very strong, so strong that one of the waitress walked by with dirty dishes and a couple of cocktail sauces blew off her tray, one got me on the arm, the other got my husband. The person sitting across from me picked up his beer and the coaster flew at my face, just brushing my check by my eye. I asked out waitress Regan, to please close the plastic and what had happened. She said she couldn't because the people a the other table wanted it open. The wind was so bad that my husband would pick up his glass of beer, and it would blow the beer out of the glass on to me. Needless to say I was not very happy with cocktail sauce and beer on me. Exactly what is your policy in those kind of conditions? This is the only bad experience we have had there. Love to go for the shrimp special on Tuesdays.

No waiting @ happy hour on a Saturday. Our server was Reagan and she was great! We used our free appetizer for our yelp check in and also got peel and shrimp on happy hour menu. The bread nice and warm and very delicious. I had oak grilled tuna medium rare and he had oak grilled blackened Mahi. My tuna was excellent but did end up using the soy sauce dip for the seared tuna app instead of the sauce that came with it. Our food was excellent, au grautin potatoes were wonderful and great drinks. The atmosphere was much different from the Melbourne location, more personal. Can't wait to go back

We have been here a number of times. Mostly we have hit on good food, only once it was a disappointment. It's right on the river, great view, good service and right prices. It's a shorts and sandal type of place but fun too, especially with a band. Several bar/restaurants up the street but more of a bikers hang out. Not that they are bad, just different atmospheres, sometimes not so good patrons, most times good comrade. Recommend highly if looking for a good drink and bar food, a little better then bar food though.

    (4)
  • Rob R.

Food is OK, not great. Drinks are Excellent. Cannot beat the view and atmosphere. If the wind is from the east for too many days the sea weed can get a bit smelly, but that is not the restaurants fault.

Ah! I absolutely *love* this place! I'm from Texas so anytime I can get to the beach, I'm in heaven. One of my beachtime traditions is local seafood. I just gotta have it. I relied on my trusty Yelp friends to find this place and I'm so grateful I did- hopefully my review will convince you, too. The location is typical beach-bum with colorful decor and folks who probably just finished a good surf sesh. Love it. The food itself is priced righteously as are the beverages. The actual taste, itself? Amazing!!! They have an incredible array of options (in terms of seasonings and seafood available) and they cook it just right. Love love love. Brownie points: When it randomly started raining in true Florida fashion, the staff kindly rolled down the splash-barrier for us and rolled it back up when it stopped :) So sweet.

Ate here with family. Nice to be able to pull up in the boat but the food was terrible. I ordered the stuffed shrimp with rice and vegetables. The stuffed shrimp were okay, about 6 of them, not exactly what I expected but it okay. As for the rice and vegetables, I'm fairly certain they were on the level of frozen food at a dollar level. The vegetables were definitely frozen and tasted freezer burnt and the rice seemed like it was from the dollar bags at the grocery store. Overall, it was okay. The entree was decent but the sides really took it down.

We come to Sebastian once a year to visit family. This is the first time coming to Squid Lips. It was just "ok". I had the praline crusted tilapia. There was too much grease. Had to add hot sauce to counteract with all of the grease. The roasted potatoes were cocked in too much grease too. My son had the bahama mahi mahi in mango salsa. It too was cooked in too much grease. The best part of the meal believe it or not was the mixed vegetables. My wife doesn't like seafood, so she had the chicken fingers. She said the chicken was good and juicy. My daughter had the chicken and pineapple skewers. She liked it, said the chicken was grilled perfectly and the pineapple was sweet. Last year we went to Captain Hiram's. That was 10x better than this place. I doubt that I will come back here. Next year we are going to try somewhere else. Until then...

I'm giving Squid Lips 3 stars for overall good food, a few misses, but improvements in service are needed to get more from me. We started with the free appetizer for checking in, fish fingers in a cornflake breading. They were very good, just a little greasy. We also tried the smoked fish dip. It was okay, nothing I would get again though. It had a lot of mayo which gave it a soupy consistency. I got the mahi reuben for my entrée with fries instead of chips for a small up-charge. The mahi was grilled perfectly and delicious! It was good quality and a decent portion. She brought it out with chips, so I asked if she could bring the fries which she said wouldn't be a problem and would be right out. The chips seemed like out-of-the-bag standard potato chips. I never got the fries for the remaining 30 minutes we were there even though she kept coming back and mentioning she would get them. She chatted with other tables that seemed like locals after visiting ours, so I'm assuming she got distracted and forgot. I'm sure that might not bother most people, but I'm a creature of habit and I like to eat alternate my bites between fries and sandwich. My mom got the Abaco fish sandwich sans chutney and added fries. The sandwich was very good, but just a little on the sweet side since it was breaded in coconut. I had never heard of fish coming that way, only shrimp, so it was a nice change. The fries were okay, so I guess it wasn't terrible that I didn't get them. The view was wonderful and there was a nice breeze being on the water.

Setting on the water is nice, but overall this place needs a little TLC. The waitress was really friendly and food was good. Some items much better than others. 1. 2 wine glasses came out dirty. The first was actually filthy. When I asked for a replacement (from the busboy because we couldn't find our waitress), he looked at me a little crooked. They tried to replace it but the second one was also dirty. Water stained and full of fingerprints. Waitress did try to make it right--she actually offered to wipe it herself and verbally blamed her manager for not washing the glass properly. 2. Ahi tuna tartare app - this is like raw tuna nachos on kettle potato chips. The sauce was good, but there was far too much of it. True tuna tartare, if it's great, shouldn't be smothered in sauce and then topped with another sauce. 3. Complimentary Bimini Bread- coconut pineapple bread was fantastic. 4. 12 oz New York Strip Steak had nice seasoning and was tender, but there was way too much FAT on this piece of meat for $21.00. No problem if they charged about $13-$15 (max) for it. But when 1/7 of the steak is all fat...$21.00 is unacceptable. 5. The truth is if this place wasn't on the water it wouldn't be rated so highly and people wouldn't come back time and again. Sorry.

Great location, good people, entertainment, and good food. This is the perfect date night casual place. I like to go with my husband for a good meal and to sit by the water. On most nights there is a band with a banjo they play country and classic rock which gives the place a laid back appeal I like. The wait staff is always friendly and the bartender makes a mean Bloody Mary, virgin of coarse. We always get the mussel appetizer which is full of flavor and fresh. They have fresh seafood and also pub food, the chicken wings are very good! We go a lot for the food and fun crowd. Definitely check it out!

Quick Summary: A popular location that is literally over the water, it provides a nice ocean/ breeze while you sit back and enjoy a simple meal. My family and I happened upon this location after a hot day at the beach. It was nice to be able to find a place that was right by the water and had open windows allowing the cool evening breeze to waft over you as you dined. It was a busy night during Memorial day weekend when we arrived and you could see pretty much all of the tables were packed with guests. We happily accepted the wait time and grabbed a small 'table' by the bar and ordered up some drinks and enjoyed the live band that was presenting, playing some good 'ole classics. In less time than we were told, our vibrating/light up indicator told us a table was ready, so we went back to the hostess who took us to our 'table' 2 feet from where just sitting with our drinks. This particular table was the only one not near the windows, and was hidden behind a column blocking our view of the band... not to mention the table itself was barely bigger than the one we were just sitting at.. we made note of this to the hostess who was quick to apologize and gave us the next available table, which I am happy to report was by the windows. The menu is obviously seafood oriented, with a variety of shell fish and normal fish options. We were really interested in getting oysters but they had run out due to the busy holiday weekend business (a little disappointing since it was only 7pm on a Sunday... still another day left in holiday weekend!). We decided to start with the clams instead... funny anecdote here... when we asked the waitress how they prepare the clams... she said in a pot... ha ha... Alas the clams were ok... a little chewy probably from being over cooked and not piping hot. You definitely wanted the dipping sauce to enjoy them. Our entrees were a little better prepared but not particularly memorable. On the upside the service was very friendly and quick to get us drinks or refill our waters. All in all, it's the experience is what I'd expect for an area consistently packed with tourists. Good service with mostly non-offending food options. I'd probably go here for the ambiance and to enjoy a nice breeze with dinner.

Great food and great service. Very attentive to our needs, the app came out on time and basically melted in your mouth (tender fish fingers or something along those lines) and the entree were delicious! We'll definitely be back again, and you can't beat the view.

We went here on a whim with a groupon offer. Food was good, the location was great. Really suprised, never been here before. We really loved this place and suggest that everyone will go here at somepoint. It is a nice dining experence right OVER the water. We showed up around Sunset and watched all the colors in the sky as we ate or dinner. They even serve Red Fish, YUM!

Oh, so good. We happened upon the place, via Yelp, while driving from Ft. Lauderdale to Orlando. (And with a name like Squid Lips, we just couldn't resist.) We got the free fish fingers appetizers for checking in - and they were light, crisp wonderfulness. I had the Key Largo baked fish and the Fella had the stuffed flounder. We had intended on taking half for leftovers ... but they were just too tasty. Our server Jess was awfully attentive and friendly, as well. The only thing we could've done without was the cheesy live '70s/'80s lounge-singer type. I don't know how often that happens. This couple actually danced to it, so it was kinda cute. :) We'd definitely go back if we were in the neighborhood. But you can go on our behalf, in the meantime.

Great location right on the Indian River. I had the fish sandwich and while the fish was cooked spot on the bun was a mess, soft and tasteless, it actually took away from the taste of the sandwich. The service was spotty, but given the view the wait for my lunch was acceptable.

If you're in Sebastian and looking for a nice casual restaurant experience with a view...it's hard to beat Squid Lips' ambiance. I've taken guests by boat on a couple of occasions. We dock right in front of the restaurant free of charge and walk in. Squid Lips really nailed it with the completely open air style & fish decor throughout. Visit their website and take a 360° tour of the interior. If you're not impressed, then you're probably not the type of person that enjoys being around Sebastian in the first place because it's pretty much perfect. The food is good. It's just very typical for riverside seafood restaurants around here. Good stuff nonetheless. You won't be disappointed and you probably won't be talking about the food for weeks either. The service is adequate. I've had a couple forgetful, negligent, or slightly rude servers here....once when I tried to use a Yelp check-in coupon, which apparently is not an everyday experience. The ambiance is just too perfect for me to get real nit-picky. Let's sum it up like this: if the weather was crappy, I would not go to Squid Lips. However, it's MUCH better than Capt Hiram's down the street!

  • Kim H.

The food was really about 2 stars. The place is fun and servers were good. It's the kind of place that stays open because of the view and the bar. If you are coming for the food, look elsewhere, if you want a tourist waterside joint with a good vibe and drinks, then go.

Wife and I went there for lunch, and I ordered the Abaco Fish Sandwich. I thought that the fish was overcooked and the sandwich was way too sweet. Since it is the first time I have ever ordered that meal, I don't know if that is how it is supposed to be or not. I will go again and order something different this time. I gave it an extra star because the location and atmosphere were very nice.

Awesome! We stopped here on a whim after driving down the beach. The views were spectacular, the breeze was pleasant, and the music was so fun! We arrived at 7pm on a Friday night and were seated with no wait. Our server came over immediately to take our drink order. Service was astonishingly fast and very friendly. I had the Rum Runner which was delicious and very strong. My fiancé had the Bloody Mary that he said was spicy and very good. We ordered the Fried Calamari as an appetizer and it was pretty good. For my meal I got the Lobster Crab Cake Sandwich. Best crab cake sandwich I've ever had! The sauce that came with it was divine. He had the Tilapia Largo with red fish and he enjoyed it. The highlights for me were a tie between the Rum Runner, the sandwich, and live music. We will definitely go back!

We returned after eating here a few years ago on vacation. It was just as pleasant as we remembered. The rickety docks give it an authentic feel and the kids enjoyed watching the sting rays swim around while we waited to be seated. Once we were seated, we did wait a LONG time to actually be served---but the waiter offered us bread (despite the fact that we had only ordered sandwiches) and when my daughter's order came out wrong, he recognized it before we did and gave it to her to get started while the cook made a fresh order as she wanted it. I had the clam basket (10 bucks for a lot of clams and a pile of fries and cole slaw). We left full and everyone was happy for a very reasonable price! Can't beat that! We might even go one more time before this vacation is over!

Location, location, location...this open air restaurant built out on a pier over the Indian River is a perfect spot for a casual meal on a beautiful Florida evening. I'm a frequent visitor to Vero Beach and always make a point to go to Squid Lips; the food is always good, and the views are always spectacular.

The raw oysters were very fresh, large & firm--best we've had since the Oregon Coast. Smaller portion of citrus salmon was plenty of food. The seafood lasagna was fabulous (three snaps!). A very satisfying dining experience -- we always come here at least once when vacationing here.

The location of Squid Lips in Sebastian is on the water. Definitely a great location, beautiful view. There are lunch specials if you purchase a drink but mostly sandwiches/wraps though. Nothing exciting. The menu features drinks, appetizers, seafood, and more. The drinks were reasonably priced, cheaper than I had expected. We ordered the oysters, coconut shrimp and bacon-wrapped scallops. On the menu they are listed as "market" price but it costed 15-16. These fresh oysters are from Texas although the server didn't know how often shipments come in. Next up are the coconut shrimp. Average coconut shrimp, fairly decent. The sauce was less than desirable. The island dipping sauce was very reminiscent of duck sauce. The coconut shrimp here is a little more sweet than typical since they use a coconut rum batter. Last but not least, the Cajun bacon wrapped scallops. Yes, I said bacon and scallops. YUM! Four grilled bacon wrapped sea scallops so you know they're a good size. Served with a honey lime sauce. The scallops were ALMOST on the verge of being overdone. Perfect scallops should have a nice tenderness in the middle. Flavorwise, it had a tiny hint of spiciness which I enjoyed. The honey lime sauce? Not so much. Again, what is up with the sauces? Squid Lips, you're trying too hard. The food was good but the sauces just aren't working. The honey lime sauce ended up toning the scallops down too much. What's the point of making them "cajun" if you're going to put that honey lime sauce on it. I'm still ready to eat and one of the desserts caught my eye. Key Lime Raspberry White Chocolate Cheesecake. Whoa, that was a mouthful. First thing I thought when I saw the slice of cheesecake, whip cream much? White chocolate chips on the outside, raspberry swirls throughout, it looks good aside from the massive amount of whip cream. Where's the key lime flavor? Key lime is very distinct and it really didn't stand out in this cheesecake. It tastes okay, not phenomenal. Not worth $5.99. Ok, so with one bloody mary, two dozen oysters, coconut shrimp appetizer, bacon wrapped scallops appetizer, and a slice of cheesecake came out to over $70. Yeesh. The server wasn't very personable. Food is overpriced but it's a great place for relaxing the day away. Definitely get the bacon wrapped scallops sans sauce. I still had an enjoyable experience and if I'm back in the area, I'll drop by for a drink or two.

On the water and nice location. The night we went we were swarmed by no see ums while we waited for our food. (Server brought us skintastic but cant imagine that was appetizing) hahaha. Before i trash the place i will say service was great. Everything had this sweet coconut flavor to it starting with the bread. It was great sweet pumpernickel but it set the tone for the rest of the sickly sweet entrees. Coconut shrimp was just again sickly sweet greasy. When we compared each different entree we all kept realizing that same coconut flavor. I love coconut but it seemed like they had a one trick pony with their menu. Go for atmosphere (minus no see ums ) & beer. I prefer capt Hiram's.

Great location restaurant on a pier out into the intercoastal. Great place to have a cocktail and watch the world go by. Food is ok. Coconut shrimp and calamari were ok. Fish sandwich was very good. Prices are reasonable. Go for the view.

Excellent atmosphere, good food. Had no problems seating a large party of 8 with minimal wait. Live music was a little dated but fit the general clientele of the area. Amazing bread served before the entrees. Server was great, handled us very well with a smile on her face. Everyone in my party ordered some type of seafood and enjoyed it. I got the pulled pork and it was amazing. Definitely a good place to take visitors to the area and show off the beauty of the coastline.

Small and VERY casual atmosphere. Overall above average food quality. Had the coconut shrimp appetizer which was crisp and fresh. The dipping sauce was very sweet.. Maybe a little orangey which made it different from the usual. The blackened Mahi Mahi was wonderful! I really enjoyed the lime sauce with it as well-good compliment-not overpowering. The bread they bring out to start with was very good. Not too sweet but warm and fresh. Overall good meal. Not what I expected given the rough exterior.

This is a nice casual restaurant/bar on the water with open air tables. You feel like you are out in nature having your dinner and so it is a very relaxing place to dine. On our most recent visit we tried their humongous shrimp special, with fries and slaw. It was reasonably priced, tasty and we had enough leftovers to make another meal later. The service was fast paced with just a short wait between ordering and receiving our food. Our server seemed busy and neglected to bring me a requested item at one point which was a little bit annoying as she passed by our table but never remembered. Otherwise, a good time and good meal.

Good food from start to finish. We started with the sliced Ahi appetizer. I had the Thai Mahi and the only issue I had was the peanut sauce was a little thick for my liking. That didn't stop me from clearing my plate, though. My wife (and I) enjoyed the Bahama Mahi with rice. The scenery and location were both very nice.

Really cool location, right on the water. The ahi tuna appetizer was really good, perfectly cooked. My shrimp caesar salad was ok, shrimp was well seasoned. My co-worker had the seafood enchilada which he said was amazing. Staff was really friendly, cool environment.

Wow! Great place! Didn't think it would be as good as it was. Went here for New Years Eve dinner and we weren't disappointed. Lots of choices on their menu. Everyones dish came out great. Good portions, no one was left hungry. The prices are very reasonable. Good drinks too. Mother-in-law even got a picture with the pirate! Took a tour of the pirate ship that was docked outside the back of the restaurant. It added a bit of fun to our dinner. I highly recommend eating here.

Horrible experience and we didn't even get to be seated. We were a table of 9, we contacted the restaurant early in the day and we were told they do "call Aheads" for parties of 8 or more. We placed our name on the list. Arrived 15 minutes prior to our scheduled call ahead and we were told 45 minutes wait. We had drinks at the bar and socialized. After 45 minutes and watching numerous tables be seated ahead of us that arrived after we did. Yelp even states in its information that they accept reservations! When I approached the hostess stand a women tells me that "this is why she doesn't do call aheads" Funny, I thought it was the restaurants choice of what they do not some individual server/hostess to decide. To make a long story short, after explaining to her that I have been witnessing them seat others in places they very well could have sat us and she wasn't comprehending the situation, I requested to speak with a manager. Being that I am in the hospitality business, have a degree from UCF in Hospitality Management, and have been managing restaurants at prestigious Country Clubs in South Florida for the past 13 years, I thought maybe the manager and I could see eye-to-eye on this situation. When the server/hostess went to get the manager she announced in front of the rest of our party "you better get out there they're b*&%ing" When the Manager approached the hostess stand to speak to me, we explained the situation and she said "well what do you want me to do" and when the rest of our party explained they heard the servers comment we told her we were leaving. She merely walked away. Losing a table of 9 is a lot of money to lose. We were treated rudely, there was no excuse for the way they blatantly sat other tables ahead of us and the attitude by the staff was atrocious.

I visited Squid Lips with my whole family a few weeks ago. We were out on the boat and pulled up to grab lunch. It was a bit of a windy day, so it was a bit tricky to get the boat in and tied up. The lack of ladders on the dock made it challenging to get out of the boat and up on to the elevated dock. We were seated fairly quickly at a very wobbly table. Unfortunately we waited about 10mins till a waitress came bay and took our orders. We put everything so as not to wait to much longer to get the kids fed. Service was very slow especially for a restaurant that wasn't too busy at all. The food was OK, nothing too special, but certainly not terrible. Squid Lips is a good place to go and relax with some friends, have some drink and eat some appetizers.

This is a "don't miss it" eatery. Very casual and on the small side, but with large flavor. From the drinks - I had the Pineapple Paradise and hubby had the Squid Ink - to entrees, everything was absolutely fab! The fried calamari app was the most tender we've ever had....lightly fried & not at all greasy....more than enough to share. For entrees, I had the shrimp stuffed with an abundance of lobster & crabmeat....although not "jumbo", it was an ample portion. Hubby had the dry-rubbed steak which was tender and oh so juicy (be warned, it is on the spicy side). Our server Barbara was friendly with terrific menu knowledge; and the barmaid was nice enough to give me the drink recipe. Let me not forget the view.....the dining area sits above the gentle sway of the river, with every table enjoying the calming vista. Be sure not to miss this little gem when visiting the vero beach/Sebastian area!!

I wanted to like this place. It has a great location and makes you feel like you're in the Florida Keys. But lately I have been disapointed in the food, and let's not kid ourselves, that is why we part with our hard earned money to go to a restaurant. It seems the quality is slowly going down hill. Interestingly enough this seems to always happen when there is "franchising opportunities" on a restaurant's website. The great ones aren't looking to franchise and turn a profit, they are wanting to make a great product. I went tonight for the "mountain of shrimp Tuesdays" and while yes there was a lot of shrimp, they just weren't that good. They tasted bland and a little spongy. And then to top things off the cole slaw was bad. I don't mean tasted bad or not my style, it had gone bad. I let the waitress know, and she said she would "let them know" like them was a second entity or something. I then decided I would "let them know" also, with the them being you the Yelp community.

Good food, great service! My burger was a little over cooked but still juicy. My wife had the coconut shrimp and they were great. We will definitely be back!

What a cool place. We waited about 30 minutes to get a table but it was worth the wait. The bar is great, nice bartenders, great selection and Yuengling on draft, my FAVE. The menu had a large amount of choices and the kids menu was a home run. I had mahi mahi grilled thai style and oh man, was it spectacular. I liked this place a lot. We took the triplets here to celebrate their birthday and the waitress gave us 4 huge pieces of chocolate cake for the kids on the house! The band (Jimmy Buffet style) even sung happy birthday to the kids. What a memorable night! Please try this place when in Sebastian. You will be so glad you did!

The fish tacos were blah with more breading than fish and no flavor. The Mahi Reuben was amazing. The Chicken Caesar was okay. The Tai Mahi was good. The Key Largo Fish was okay. The Chicken Fingers were overcooked and the Panko batter had no flavor. The service was okay, but overall everything was just average. Okay, the Mahi Reuben was awesome.

Okay, so I've been to Squid Lips several times before. My family enjoys it. Last time I went, I received my redfish which was very cold and that was disappointing. When I mentioned it to them, they apologized and I went back there this weekend to eat with my family. They remembered me and gave me some damn good service in addition to having our appetizer comped as well as our bill discounted. We ordered the ahi-tuna that comes smothered in siracha over homemade potato chips. It was pretty good but too sweet and gloopy, really. You could barely make out the tuna enmeshed in the sauce (red on red). For my meal, I got the lobster/crab stuffed shrimp which was hot and tasty. They left the tails on the shrimp which is kind of irksome considering the dish is presented in a casserole form and you have to pick through your food to get the tails off. The vegetables accompanying the dish as well as the mashed potatoes were on point - the veggies had a bit of garlic tossed in which added immensely to the flavor. Overall, way better than the paltry redfish served last time... I have to give a special shoutout to the shrimp jalapeno grits dish they have which my brother ordered. Absolutely exemplary and one of the best dishes I have tried so far from there so please consider that next time you stop by! One big thing is that the Bimini Bread at Squid Lips is one of the best accoutrements about the food there. Sweet and succulent! In my personal opinion, it ranks with the cheddar biscuits at Red Lobster as the best side option. Truthfully, I would go to Squid Lips over Captain Butcher's and even Hiram's - Hiram's being over-priced a bit and Captain's exhibiting poor service and portions.

Came here with my girlfriend on Mothers Day. This is a good place to eat by the water. The atmosphere was great with an awesome breeze blowing in & Dolphins were jumping right outside the restaurant. It's a great view. The beer wasn't as cold as I would like & the sangria was not that good either. I had the Keys Combo, the mahi filet was great. My girlfriend had coconut shrimp, she was very happy with it. Overall, the service & drinks was not that good but the food, view & atmosphere of this place was well worth it.

We had a wonderful first experience at this restaurant. Based on everyone's reviews and encouragement from those that Disney's Vero Beach resort We decided to venture over for dinner. We were impressed with the quality of the service and the food was well prepared. I think the prices were market average but they weren't clearly spectacular deal. I would recommend this to my friends.

Those were the most succulent squid lips that ever met my own lips!! Also the conch fritters. Yes. And beer too. The open atmosphere gives a spectacular view of the pelicans and sea life.

Went for lunch Monday. Food barely edible. My husband ordered a hamburger that so over cooked looked like a hockey puck and so over seasoned with pepper that i thought he ordered a blackened hamburger. i had the fish tacos. what fish it had was cold and had no taste. could not find our waiter after he took our order until we were ready to leave. food mediocre and service sucks.

Great food, friendly servers, nice view & laid-back atmosphere After the numerous problems we've had at the tourist trap next door (Capt. What's-His-Name's), discovering this fun little open air restaurant & bar on the water was a breath of fresh air. We were impressed with their menu, which is rather extensive and favors a the seafood lover but I think everyone can find something to meet their tastes. You'll be pleasantly surprised at the portions and quality of food you get for the price. We brought in their e-mailed coupon for a free appetizer with purchase of any 2 entrees, and even though our printer ink was so light you couldn't even read what it was for, our server took it to the manager who immediately honored it. Even though every table was full while we were there, the service was quick, friendly, and spot-on. Their happy hour and drink specials are among the best we've had anywhere, all the seafood dishes we ordered were cooked perfectly and delicious. The mahi was dynamite and their wings were plump, juicy and no hunks of fat anywhere to be found - the best I've had since my last trip to Fish Lips up in Port Canaveral. Their habenero and teriyaki wing sauces, wow! Their wings alone would be enough to keep me coming back. The live band while we were there (Trilogy) was good and helped add to the laid-back atmosphere of the place. The boardwalk out back where you can feed the fish and occasionally even see dolphins was fun for all. We were very glad we tried Squid Lips, and can't wait to come back and try more of their menu (and happy hour). Best of all we didn't encounter any bad service, rude staff, cold or undercooked food, watered-down drinks, or any hint of the tourist trap vibe. The "Captain" up the street should be demoted to poop deck scrubber and walk the plank - he'll never get another dime from us with this place next door.

Good food, great location and ambience. The pineapple coconut bread that they serve prior to the meal is wonderful. They have service on the beach in adirondack chairs, but only appetizers and sandwiches, so we had to eat on the restaurant deck. Interesting live music ;o) the night we were there. The meals were good (coconut shrimp and fried fish) didn't see much that wasn't fried, but it's been a few nights ago, so maybe there was. Unfortunately the vegetables were a frozen medley that was watery and just not good. Meals were $17-18 for what we had, in good portions.

This was recommended by our FL host and it didn't disappoint. I'm an inland guy who loves seafood. So this type of on the water restaurant is both a novelty and an enjoyment. We were seated promptly, but we do go kind of early, however when we left although it was busy no one was waiting in line. The food was excellent and I thought the prices were very reasonable considering some seafood restaurants charge crazy high prices. We shared the cracked conch and we both ordered the bacon wrapped scallops. It was a ton of food and some was left on the table, so order accordingly. I would definitely recommend this spot...good people, good service, good food, good drink selection, great location.

It was delicious! We had the fish dip, seared ahi tuna and coconut onion chips to start! All amazing! The fresh fish was very tasty and so was the shrimp and grits! While we waited for our table, we stood out on the dock and fed the catfish!

We first stopped by at Squid Lips this past February when visiting my cousins who were staying at Disney's Vero Beach resort. We enjoyed it so much that it was high on our list when we booked our own stay at Disney. The seafood is great here. Try the mahi reuben and the cajun bacon-wrapped scallops. They grill over oak and it really makes the seafood taste so nice. The beer selection is not exotic, but really inexpensive. You can get a mug of Yuengling draft for $1.50 during happy hour. It's only $2.50 other times of the day. In three days, we went there twice for lunch during the three days we were there and we almost stopped by for breakfast on our last day there. We will be back whenever we are in the area.

Never disappointed in the food or the service at Squid Lips. Highly recommend the grouper and tuna. Scallops are also excellent. This is a must for us every time we are at Vero Beach.

Just had dinner here Sunday night, thanks to the great Yelp reviews. What a terrific spot! We saw dolphins from the windows, and there was a great breeze through the open windows. The Baja fish tacos were delicious, but the best item from our group was the Abaco sandwich - fish fried in a coconut batter, then mango chutney and Swiss cheese. Wow! Would love to go back just for that every night of our stay. They also had Key Lime pie that was perfect - the purist type - whipped cream on the side, nothing on the filling, all in a delicious graham cracker crust. The only thing that I can complain about was that at some point we felt swarmed by gnats, with all those open windows, they seemed attracted to the food.

The food is 4 stars, but the view and service bumped it up to a five. The restaurant is literally on the water and there were dolphins playing just a couple hundred yards away while we were eating. The bartender was also our waiter and was wonderfully attentive and even threw a loaf of bread out the window so we could watch the fish. We had the fried fish appetizer which was pretty good. For my meal I had the fish tacos which came in a hard shell with fried fish. I wasn't a big fan of the hard shell and there was hardly any fish on the tacos... needless to say I was not a fan. My boyfriend had oysters and he loved them. Happy hour starts at 3:00 and they have some good specials, so I say hit them up for some drinks and the view and some discounted appetizers.

I had dinner here last night with a couple of friends. I started with the bacon wrapped scallops which were delicious. We got 4 large bacon wrapped scallops on a skewer. Next I had the Lobster crab cakes. I got the duo because I was hungry. The meal came with 2 lobster crab cakes sauteed in butter, Cajun rice and fresh veggies (grean beans & carrots). The meal was delicious. My buddy had the burger and was very happy with it. The food was cooked to perfection and the service was very good. I would not hesitate to go back.

Food was great and there is plenty of it to choose from. There is lots of different and varied types of seafood dishes, but not many of the terrestrial variety. It was ~1:30, not crowded. Our waitress was fantastic. Food was a while considering the non-crowd, but it was worth the wait! Everything was good and we will definitely be going again. Make sure to at least read the cocktails; they are tropical and delicious. This is definitely a $$$-type place. $15 for seafood lasagna makes it alright, but the $$ was a little misleading for me.

Bread not free, but food was fantastic. We had steak, chicken, potatoes, fish, shrimp, scallops and pork. I'm not sure how the four of us girls did that in two trips there, but it was all amazing. We were recommended by our hotel an came back two days in a row. Generous drinks, cheaper than our hotel, and could drink the ranch dressing; it was so good. Also get free dessert for your birthday. AMAZING!!

This really is the perfect place to get a good feel for the "treasure coast". The location really is perfect - walk out on a dock to a medium sized restaurant that overlooks the intercoastal. You have open air windows on all sides with water mister fans to keep you cool during the summer. On to the food... They offer different marinades for the different sandwiches - everything from cherry with pepper to cajun, etc. The fried fish sandwich is fresh and good and the "drunken" sweet potato is to die for! Service was above average and lunch during the week was not that busy but I can imagine it must be crazy at night on the weekends. We drove from vero and I have to say, it was worth the drive!

The best part of this restaurant is its wonderful location sitting on piles right in the Indian River Lagoon. The mainly seafood menu relies heavily on fried everything. The food is adequate if very unimaginative. The service can be spotty, but is generally friendly. We take visitors to Sebastian here for the location. It is great on a warm summer evening with all the windows wide open.

Beautiful location on Indian River in Sebastian. Service was excellent and food was good. Tried the couch chowder and fried cracked couch app. Both were excellent. Had the fresh fish sandwich, Mahi Mahi, just a tad overcooked. Cole slaw and French fries were yummy. Sunday afternoon they have a Dixieland band- "Top Hats". The band's average age is maybe 65 but they sounded great playing big bang and New Orleans jazz. Yea, I was hanging out with my parents and all the retirees, but I truly enjoyed it.

Great food on a really nice setting. Went with a large party and we tried a little bit of everything. Most items were good, highlighted by the crab and lobster sandwich and fish and chips. The sides were excellent, as were the apps. The only reason this is not 5 stars was because the service was mediocre.

Not too much to review on this one. The food was pretty good, and the location was pretty cool, but I simply expected better. Worth a stop, and better than the adjacent Captain Hiram's.

Very good fresh seafood and great casual atmosphere over the water on a pier. The oysters on the half shell were excellent, fresh and succulent served with real horseradish as well as the obligatory cocktail sauce. The fried seafood was excellent if you like fried and even if you don't. The Mahi-Mahi fish and chips were exceptional. Based on this dish, I'm looking forward to trying their fried shrimp though I'm not a great fan of the fryer. I had the oak grilled mahi-mahi and it was very good with a great grilled-smoked flavor. I paid extra for the mango salsa to go with it but it was a mistake. The flavor of the fish was best without it. The crowd was an interesting mix of locals and though we had to wait for 15 min for a table, by 7:30 pm the restaurant cleared out. I would go there after then for a quieter dinner. It is not an innovative restaurant but just a good casual fresh seafood place.

Not bad. Right on the river. 1st time here. $16 for a dz oysters tho. Just pd $7 at peg legs in gulfbreeze. Ok..I guess but probably wouldn't come back because of price. Fl native been to a miilion seafood places. Great for a tourist though. Had the mango chicken. Nice idea, chicken was a little overdone for my taste. I like my chicken barely done. Crab chowder was good tastin...not much crab. Just my daughter and I for lunch. Dropped $50 bucks.

Beautiful location with super fresh fish and friendly service. The squid lips bloody mary was flavorful but not too spicy. Adequate number of beers on tap including stella, guiness and most domestics. We had the coconut shrimp to start-- fried but not too oily or filling- we felt it was the perfect starting size. I had the marinara mahi mahi which was nice but I think I still prefer eggplants in marinara instead. My husband had the tuna sandwich with jamaican jerk glaze- delicious. Perfectly cooked and spicy. The fries with each meal were awesome- they had that delicious spicy seasoning on them.

Went here for lunch. The Mahi was great but only served with rice, no salad or veggies. The Margarita was not drinkable, watery and bitter. The prices were high and even without dessert the bill was $50 for two.

Tried Squid Lips based on the recommendation of a fellow hotel guest at Disney's Vero Beach Resort. We were not disappointed. Two of us got the fried scallop basket. The scallops were huge, sweet and flavorful. The breading was seasoned just right and the amount of breading was perfect. Cole slaw was excellent too. The potatoes augratin were so, so. Cocktail sauce could have used more horseradish. It was more like a tomato puree. The friend clam basket was awesome. The clams were of the same caliber as the scallops. Would come back here again to enjoy the fantastic view, knowledgeable good server, and good food.

Update: With respect to the Melbourne location of Squid Lips the location on Eau Gallie way out west close to I-95 closed, however on Valentines day the opened a new Melbourne Squid Lips in that is right on the intercoastal (the River as its called here) at the corner of Pineapple and Eau Gallie... The view is great and the food is the same great stuff as at the Sebastian location. I went this past weekend and it was packed. I guess when it comes to having a successful restaurant location can be important as food quality.

Went here for lunch today and I must say I was impressed. First impression was quite good. It's a building right on the water, correction IN the water. You walk on a dock to the restaurant. We went around 4 and it wasn't packed so we were seated right away. By the end of the meal it was starting to fill in. They had live music, wasn't my kind of eating music but it was ok. We were seat by the "window", well it was open air. The service...I can't say it's the best. The food eventually got to us. Their servers were nice and friendly though. Ok so finally, the food! It was quite good. I came in here with some high expectations and I must say it was good. I got the fish tacos as a starter and the seafood lasagna. I don't know what I was thinking but glad that I got it! It was tasty! Nothing overpowered any flavor. The textures of all the different seafoods were there. Nothing over cooked. One thing is that there were some small pieces of crab shells but nothing major. The dish had large chunks of scallops, crabs, shrimp and lobster. The fish taco I could have done without. Very little fish and I'm not a hard taco person, but the flavors did mesh well. It was just a perfect day.

I wish that more people new about this place, it really puts Captain Hirams to shame for its over the water appeal. It is direct river front on the Indian River, you can watch the fishing boats come in and sip your drink and watch the pelicans. The grouper is really fresh, the crunchy grouper is down right yummy. The staff is friendly , sometimes slow but nice which makes it ok in my book. The "our salad" is great too.
