FOOD Although the amount given tends to lean towards the skimpy side, the dishes are very "delish." The vegetables were freshly crunchy and the sauces were not overbearing. On the other hand, the cold dishes seem to have the flavor caked around the food item as opposed to soaked inside--which is preferable. Although I've asked for "spicy," my stir-fries have never made me cry yet--and I know authentic Thai dishes are normally tear-jerkers for these brown babies. Catering to sensitive American tongues perhaps? ATMOSPHERE Very ornate and draped in many gold colors. Statues and dark wood abounds. Mix this in with the dim lighting and deep-seated booths... and this can create a very personal space especially for date nights. SERVICE Eager to please - we actually had several servers (including the manager I assume) approach our table and ask if everything was well. It actually became minor annoying after the 10th time.

We had a lovely meal here (I had Pad Thai) and I'd definitely recommend their Thai Iced Coffee - super yummy and the atmosphere and service are great, too.

Pad Thai was just not good. Old and soggy vegetables.

This place has been a staple Thai restaurant for over 10 years. Great food - I've never been disappointed (except for when they're closed) :-)

Great tradition Thai dishes, taste great & not over powering with oil or sauce. Very pleasant meal, great staff, pretty presentation & ceramic platewear. The restaurant has a cosy feel, like you're in Thailand. Don't let the location scare you away.

All of my worries about being able to find excellent ethnic food now that I've moved away from NYC have faded into a distant memory. I met my mom and step father for dinner here a few nights ago since it's only about 5 minutes from my place of work. It looks horrible from the outside and I think they'd be very smart of them to remedy that, but once inside, a pleasant atmosphere awaits. Dark wood carvings, rich fabrics and cozy booths make for a warm and inviting interior. Menus and ice water were brought over right away along with a fresh pot of green tea. We looked over the menus and decided to share a few things. I started with a basic thai salad with a delicious peanut dressing and we ordered a chicken satay for the table which was wonderful. Fresh, tender and generous pieces of chicken served with the classic peanut sauce and vinegar/cucumber sauce were a great start to the meal. We shared a cashew/shrimp dish and a chicken with veggies dish that were both outstanding. The preparation of both dishes was light and healthy, allowing the true flavor of each ingredient to shine through. The service was perfect; efficient, knowledgable and fast. The price was extremely reasonable, although the entree portions were slightly on the small side compared to most asian restaurants. We were totally satisfied with our dinners, we just didn't have leftovers to bring home like we often do. I would strongly recommend Thailand Restaurant- just ignore the appearance from the outside and trust me

I go there for their steak Pho. I like to mix the steak with the hoisin sauce and siracha sauce they have on the table. They know me from going there and give me the same seat. The Pho is awesome and the service is good.

Pad Thai - Eh... Curry, good. Service, excellent. Some friends highly recommended this place. But have to say, it just didn't hit the spot for me. I love me some pad thai and it just was very average. My wife enjoyed the curry, but nothing stood out. Note: This was for take-out, but the staff was very friendly.

Ate here on vacation with spouse and #3 daughter on a Monday night (Isan Thai was closed, we'll have to try that one another night). Good crowd, all booths were taken so we sat comfortably at tables. Booths are traditional Thai wooden carvings, beautiful and seemingly authentic, so nice atmosphere. Service was pretty prompt: quick water filling, beer order taken immediately, appetizers came quickly. Brought out the wrong order for me and corrected it very quickly. Food was quite good. We had a noodle dish, a curry, and Pad Kaprow (vegetable-tofu in basil with spice). I asked for hot and got it exactly as wanted. Very tasty. Appetizer vegetarian spring roll is perhaps the best one I've ever had. I do want to try Isan Thai, which is so well reviewed on Yelp, and I can easily see returning here.

Love this place. Great atmosphere, reasonable prices and portions and good service. Despite the strip center location the interior is cozy and clean. The squid salad is fantastic as a starter. If you like squid definitely order it! All of the noodle dishes and curries that I've had are great. Wash them down with a thai iced tea and call it a night.

This place was really nice. Food was delicious, though if you order a curry with potatos in it, they could really do with cutting them a bit smaller. The atmosphere in here is great! Wood carving facade everywhere, and it's dimly lit and inviting. I liked it a lot, very romantic. The sushi was a bit substandard, but I can forgive it and forget it. I'd come back again to try a different curry dish. They all seemed like great choices!

Cute place. Good service. Food is tasty and fresh. Only comment I would make is they use too many red & green peppers in place of other vegetables. It's a bit pricey here. Not the one $ price yelp gives it. I would say it's more like a $$ or even $$$. But food was very good!

What a gem! I love how you can customize the dishes' ingredients and spiciness. I had a very tasty bowl of noodle soup and Thai iced tea. Loved the scented salt scrub in the bathrooms, neat touch.

Vegans Beware... I was on my way home tonight and craving Thai food, so I pulled up Thailand's menu on my phone to (hopefully) place a take-out order. I was so excited by their vegetarian menu which says at the top "a true vegetarian delight, our dishes are prepared without the use of animal fats or meats. Only the freshest and finest ingredients such as broccoli, carrots, bean sprouts, tofu, cabbage, celery, and straw mushrooms are used in their preparation." As a vegan, reading that they don't use animal fats or meats made me say hooray!! I ordered veggie spring rolls and a vegetarian noodle dish. Knowing that most Thai dishes come with fish sauce, and despite what the blurb on the menu says, I asked the guy who took my order if the dish was made with fish sauce and he said yes- most dishes are. Ummmm....a fish is an animal. Instead of pointing that out or bringing up what the top of the veg section says, I asked if the dish could be made without it which they were able to do. Again, hooray! When I got home I opened the container and saw fried egg on top even though the dish I ordered wasn't supposed to have egg in it (not to mention what they claim about their vegetarian dishes not having animal fats or meat). Boooooo..... The good news: the spring rolls were really good, even if they were a bit greasy for my taste, and the white rice was good too. My family loved the noodles and said they were one of the best dishes they've ever had from a Thai restaurant. I gave the restaurant 4 stars because the food was really good and we'll definitely eat there again, even if tonight's experience didn't meet my "dietary restrictions." Next time though, I know how to order my food.

Isan Thai is the best Thai restaurant in Sarasota. They are always so friendly and the food always tastes fresh and consistent. I love that place!

I'm a little torn on this place. The food was very good, especially the red curry (yum yum yum!), but I did feel it was a little on the pricey side. I tend to be very picky about my Thai food because I lived in Thailand for a while. Overall I'd say this place just meets my bar of standards. The curry was fantastic, but the noodle dish we had was disappointing. Also, we ordered it spicy (one step below "Thai hot" which is the highest) and I really didn't find it that spicy. In the end, it probably was the perfect amount, but I thought it would be a bit more. The ambiance is nice though. It is lovely how it's decorated - everything is intricately carved wood.

In Sarasota for business and was craving some Thai food. Yelp pointed me to Thailand Restaurant and although I was a little concerned given its location, I was pleasantly surprised upon walking in the door. The decor was warm and inviting, service was quick and the Yellow Curry potatoes and chicken was excellent. The lunch also came with a chicken broth soup with cabbage and a fried egg roll, the soup being the better of the two. Would recommend for a either a quick lunch or a lunch with a friend to linger and talk.

Excellent Christmas Eve dinner. The small staff was obviously working at their best level to handle the crowd, but they were very friendly. Our food came quickly and everything was delicious. My husband loved the crispy duck. My spicy chicken was great and others loved their noodles (although I thought the wild rice noodles were rubbery). Appetizers were also good. I loved the spring rolls. Prices were very reasonable. The inside of the restaurant is very nice, so don't be put off by the outside. We will go there again.

Had Vegetarian Curry and Pad Seew. Very good food, prepared a bit different than I was used to but very tasty. The staff was great and atmosphere very nice especially the decorations. Will head back next time in the area. I highly recommend.

The food is excellent, the waiters/waitresses are polite and punctual and the chefs always get my orders right. They gladly give you extra sauce with no extra charge and aim to please. The food is delicious and you can either have it mild or extra spicy. The waitresses have authentic Thai outfits and the decor of the restaurant is lovely and filled with hand-carved wood accents throughout the walls. Reasonably priced, with lunch comes free soup and a spring roll.

We discovered this restaurant while on vacation several years ago, and now we make it a destination any time we're on the Gulf coast. The food here is consistently delicious, and the prices are OK. The restaurant itself is very pretty, with decor that features some lovely and intricate Thai carvings. We look forward to visiting many more times.

I came across this restaurant on Restaurant.com . I usually don't go to this area of Sarasota, but decided to give it a try. The service was slow, they never took drink orders, and the Tom Yum soup was too thick, but our entrees were good. In the end, they refused to take the Restaurant.com gift certificate and claimed that they did not know how their restaurant ended up on the site. We won't return.

I love this place. Been eating here for 10+ years, maybe once a year when I visit my parents. The food has never changed or decreased in quality. Service is always pretty excellent. This is where I developed my deep love of Thai food. There might be better places, but this one is consistently really good and has been for a long time, which is saying a lot, in an area where there's a high turnover rate for restaurants. The ones that last are the ones that are genuinely good, and this is one of them.
