Is there such thing as a five star greasy spoon? Well this is it. Breakfast is good ole grandma styled fare and their tasty burgers are famously cheap and greasy eats. It's got it's time and place. Don't hate on this little indulgent slice of Americana.

Decor: 3.5/5 -felt like walking into a Waffle House though it wasn't as grimey -the washrooms were clean, definitely a plus! Service: 4/5 -mellow, southern hospitality -kitchen was pretty quick at preparing our breakfast Food: 4/5 -I ordered #6, two eggs, toast, sausage and hash browns for $4.95. The toast was the best part of the meal followed by the sausage & eggs at a close second. The hashbrowns could have been cooked a bit longer to get the golden brown color and texture. -small orange juice is $2 -I'm giving Tasty Home Cookin four stars for having extremely budget friendly prices. I did not leave hungry!

Cheap food has never tasted other than that. Not sure what I expected. The salad bar had ice burg lettuce, carrots, cucumbers, chick peas, croutons, and sketchy cherry tomatoes. Hardly what you expect but you cant say it isnt salad right. A look into the kitchen you see stacks of sysco boxes and when you get your food that is pretty much how it tastes. Its cheap but not for me.

What did the birdie say when it flew over tasty home cooking? Cheap Cheap Cheap. Not sure what's going on here, but it's seems to be in a decline. Not tasty and starting to out price themselves. Did they change owners maybe? Cause something's up

I had a chicken salad sandwich that was swimming in mayonnaise. It was tasty yet nauseating. I also didn't get it toasted like I had asked for. It repeated on me later but what do you expect for such a cheap place.

Don't let the outside hodge-podge deter you from going inside. Don't let the low-brow diner decor deter you from ordering. Check the specials and read the menu. They use peanut oil - not soybean oil (hurrah! since I'm allergic to soy!) The hamburgers do not have lots of "additives" - just good tasting hamburger and mine had the special that day with mushrooms and caramelized onions - woot! Average/normal size portions - which is good since I hate to waste food! Good coffee. Water glasses that have been washed many times and show the wear - with ads on them! Vintage marketing! We were lucky to have the homemade peach cobbler. Way too much sugar for my taste (I like more of a fruit taste) but still good - I ate it all. And the washrooms were VERY clean. Local folks serving good home cooking - just like the sign sez!

Oh my tasty home cookin, you never fail to please. They make great breakfast, lunch and dinner all at reasonable prices. It's exactly like the name, tasty home cookin. They have great biscuits and gravy, excellent pancakes and their variety of dinner specials is always good. This place won't hurt your wallet and it's good tasting so that's always a plus :)

We don't have a Waffle House in Sarasota. I know. Crazy, right? Well, we don't really need one. With the Waffle Stop and Tasty Home Cookin in town, we don't need another breakfast option from a chain. This place is the real deal. Superior customer service. When I say "superior" it means a lot. It means that if you need anything, it happens before you've had a chance to ask. If a drink spills, it's wiped up before you can ask for help. Danny Meyer should be so lucky. These folks know great service and they know good food. The tomatoes. What in the world? Why can I not find tomatoes that taste THIS good?! The eggs were cooked to perfection. Better than average diner fare. Grab it and growl kind of menu and cuisine. Hey, it's simple, it's hot, it's Tasty Home Cookin'.

This is one of my favorite places to eat in Sarasota. I have never had anything on their menu that isn't good. The staff is great, and my drink is never empty. When I'm looking for comfort food. This place to go.

It really doesn't matter that there is no White Castle in Sarasota because we actually have something better; Tasty Home Cookin. I've enjoyed their Tastyburgers for years, a 100% ground chuck fresh patty served on a bakery soft dinner roll. These little delights are only $0.75 each / 3 for $1.99 best in their standard style of mustard, ketchup, grilled onions and a pickle. Add cheese for $0.20 because it is plentiful and they allow it to properly melt. This is not a "fast food" restaurant and these are cooked to order so they take 5 to 7 minutes or longer when they are busy. Call ahead if you're in a hurry, your order will be ready when they say. They serve breakfast (pancakes are excellent), lunch and dinner. The menu includes sandwiches from $3.50 for a grilled cheese to $5.75 for a club. Dinners are typical "home style" restaurant platters in moderate portions; Hot Roast Beef, Country Fried Steak, Pork Chops, Fresh Turkey etc with 3 sides for $8.95. This is certainly not a fancy place but very well run with the owner or manager always in sight. The food (with the exception of the Tastyburger) is kind of Morrison's Cafeteria "goes a little bit country" with servers. The food is simple, plain and tasty. Readers that consider themselves part of the country club set worry not; you won't run into any fellow clubbers here as it's strictly for the hoi polloi, so feel free to have a few Tastyburgers and later tell your friends you had "sliders" for lunch.

If you're looking for a five-star restaurant look someplace else. If you're looking for a traditional breakfast/lunch diner with good food and nice staff then this is the place to go. I had their biscuits and gravy which where good, if a bit underseasoned. Their pancakes are fantastic, thin, but fluffy and very tasty. After trying my daughter's pancakes I order some of my own in addition to my B&G; they're that good.

This place is a gem for it's "tasty burgers". The owner has the meat ground fresh each day. If you like white castle or Krystal burgers, these "tastyburgers" are head and shoulders above. Go here for these burgers, you will not be disapointed.
