My date and I loved it! Everything was so good. The service, The view, the food! We sat outside and I loved the fact that it had fans. (most places don't have fans outside) The waitress was super nice! We didn't know what wine to order so she brought us a few samples which was pretty nice of her. Everything was just great. I really recommend people to visit this place.

Seriously- this place is great. The ambiance takes it to 5 stars. The calamari salad best ever. Mahiliyo the server was really amazing. While busy made us feel special. The shrimp, scallop and risotto was well presented delicate and tasty!

I was expecting more for the expensive prices. It's a nice atmosphere but Our meal came out 30 minutes late and I had the scallops and shrimp with risotto..practically tasteless. Not my favorite place. Going to stick with tommy bahama restaurant!

Good beer, good food and great service. They upgraded the balcony and the new space is very roomy.

After a long drive to St. Armands circle area, we were ready to grub. This was Memorial Day weekend so it was pretty busy every where you go. After walking around and trying to find a good place to eat in this area with the least amount of wait, we finally settled on Shore Diner (especially with the 4 star review it received on Yelp with plenty of reviews). Yelp failed me :( The atmosphere - A group of us went with a wait for an hour but got seated within 15 minutes of waiting and we got sat outside with the nice lido key breeze. The atmosphere is contemporary, hip, and also relaxed as servers were wearing jeans and hostess were in casual clothing. As someone said...its like a diner of the future. The food - it was meh. We ordered the fried chicken ($17) and the ciopinno ($24). The fried chicken was good. It was crispy, slightly tinged spiciness and tender. However, it wasn't special though. It was equivalent to the crust of Popeyes chicken but no cajun spices, rather a hot sauce mixed into their marinade/batter. The CIOPINNO was actually disappointing. I had originally asked our server which was better, the tuna or the ciopinno and she suggested the ciopinno with the rich tasty broth from the seafood of which I can sop the broth with my bread that came with the meal. I was SOLD! It was declared on the menu the pasta was house made as well. The actual dish couldn't be further from the truth. The broth was non existent (which I had to ask the server for more), pasta has been overcooked and sat in the broth too long as it has soaked up all of the broth, lack of seasoning and seafood was all overcooked. It was probably poor expediting in the kitchen, due to the amount of people dining, bc it was obvious it had been sitting under the heater for awhile. From our table, 3 of my other friends ordered the ciopinno, two of them requested to have it remade. I personally dont like to send food back unless it was raw or something. [TAKE A LOOK AT MY CIOPINNO PHOTO!] I've saw other ciopinnos come out of the kitchen later and it came with full broth and seafood. As far as right now, I wouldn't go back there when I'm in the area with my group of friends.

Great open air venue for drinks, dining, a general people watching. Carnitas tacos were great. Prompt professional bar service and every member of the staff that we interacted with was smiling and very friendly.

Excellent establishment serving up some great food and one of the best choices in St. Armand's Circle. I came here with my boyfriend for a late lunch/early dinner after a day at the beach. We chose Shore because the menu had a tasty selection of items and I really liked the decor and relaxing yet upscale ambience. It's obvious that there was alot of thought and effort putting into the design plan. Although they have nice outdoor seating on the second floor deck which overlooks st. armand's circle, it was way too hot to sit outside so we chose a booth inside. The design of the restaurant is nice because since they have glass walls you can still enjoy the outside view without being in the outside heat. When we first sat down, we were a bit impatient and the server took a very long time to come by to get our drink orders. That's one of the reasons that I'm knocking it down from 5 stars to 4. For our meal, I ordered the chinese chopped chicken salad and my bf got the shore burger with fries. A short while later, the food runner brought our food out but they brought us someone else's food. It took nearly 5 minutes to flag down our server and point out to her that we had received the wrong order. Luckily, they brought our food right away after that. Both meals were outstanding. My salad was fresh, light, tasty and had a nice kick of spicyness. The burger was melt in your mouth delicious and served on a soft, fresh bun. Really really tasty. Someone, who we presumed to be the owner of the restaurant, stopped by our table to check in and was very friendly. That was a nice added touch. Finally we finished up our meal and paid the bill. Although the prices vary widely here, the bill for our meal was reasonable: $37 for 2 meals and 2 beers. Not a bad deal overall for such a nice meal in a fantastic environment. My only other issue that i had here was that although we arrived at 3 PM, when happy hour was supposed to start, they never brought us out a menu or mentioned it at all. It would have been nice to have the option to choose some smaller plates or cheaper specialty drinks. Perhaps they just don't have the happy hour on the weekend, even though the menu says "happy hour daily". Besides that, we were really pleased with our experience here and the food quality exceeded any other issues that took place during our visit. Would most definitely be back again.

OMG. Shore was one of my FAVORITE places to eat in Sarasota! The Main lobster sliders alone were to die for. I could eat one of those every day for the rest of my life and die happy. The smoked fish spread was also really good. My friend ordered the special (I dont remember what it was) but it was REALLY good! I ordered the shrimp and scallops and it was also really good. I can't wait to go back and take friends here! One of my favorite things about this place was the retractable roof. So cool! Our waitress, Megan?, was awesome!

Just a way of full disclosure to start, we sat in the lounge, which was nice but who knows if that makes a difference in the kitchen. We had the Kale salad and the shore burger. On the plus side the burger was on the rare side of medium rare, which is perfectly fine since I ordered in medium rare. But it was under seasoned and didn't have a whole lot of flavor. The bacon jam was not really something that stood out which was odd. The other odd thing was the fries. The level of truffle was fine, just a hint really. But they were oddly chewy. My only thought is these are some kind of processed starch product and was once a potato but who knows now. Other than that they were reasonable. I didn't like the Kale caesar but the DC did. To me it wasn't a caesar, no anchovy flavor (or anchovies for that matter) and the acid was off. So really one dimensional. Just didn't like it and I like Kale. So why not 2 stars? Service was good, wine was good, beer was good. ANd it is cool to sit out on the lounge and people watch. But not in a huge hurry to come back.

Great open air decor with excellent drinks, chicken, meatloaf, with an upscale presentation and taste - not your moms meatloaf. But what surprised us most was that all servers, bar tenders, hosts, and runners are gorgeous and friendly - even the token male server. Unreal---- the ugliest one would be classified as "hot" on any scale -- and gets even "hotter" from there. A bit pricey but my wife and I felt worth it. I heard a second one will soon open.. Yah!

The food was wonderful! From start to finish, our party of 10 all had amazing starters, salads, entrees, and desserts. The one thing negative I would say is do not go here if it's raining! The seats were all wet and the rain was coming inside. We had to change tables and the seats were wet at the next table that we were placed at, as well.

Excellent! I had the cauliflower steak, my wife had the blue crab cake and my daughter had the shrimp mussels and clams. There were no leftovers. The Mia Tia was very good

Terrific ambiance and sort of California chic food. I am a big fan of their kale salad. Was disappointed a few months ago when I found out my husband'a favorite thing, the chimchuri skirt steak, had been taken off the menu. Please bring it back :). All in all, great place to go with friends and also nice spot to grab an afternoon drink.

Here a year later still great atmosphere and service. Love the space and menu. Lobster bisque was good, Mac and cheese, and the tomato and mozzarella was great. The Brussels spouts were a disappointment shredded and drowned in some kind of sauce. Still like this place very much

The happy hour is awesome! Slightly smaller portions of a few appetizers are available for just $6. My favorite thing was the turkey and brie baguette with apple slices, greens, and apricot jam. The crab cake was also very good (especially the aioli). Parm truffle fries weren't anything extraordinary in terms of flavor/seasoning but were perfectly crisp and therefore delicious. Excellent selection of specialty cocktail s and boozy infusions.

I love everything about this restaurant. The atmosphere is great and the food tastes amazing and is presented nicely. It is my go to spot when I'm in sarasota. I love that there are different options for lunch and dinner so I'm always trying something new each time I go. I haven't yet been disappointed with anything I've ordered here. My only critique is that I wish the cocktail menu was longer!

March 14 , 2025 supper. The beet salad was wonderful. Particularly the walnut vinegarete dressing. The mushroom soup was wonderful and obviously homemade. The bread was forgettable, as was the special house butter. The lobster slider (appetizer menu) was a disappointment. It had little flavor and was fairly tough to chew. Table service was excellent, overall atmosphere with the roof that retracted was wonderful. They honored our reservations and otherwise the evening went well. Parking was impossible but we use the five dollar valet service.

Some friends recommended we try this place before we left town and I'm glad they did. We had the Crab Cakes, Carnitas and Seafood salad all of which was fresh and delicious. The decor is quite endearing something like the Jetsons meet mid century modern. We would definitely try it out again. Felt some caution due to terrible reviews on Yelp in the past few days and weeks about service. Service was decent but was missing something for sure. If you're not local it's above 'The Shore' clothing store. Easy to get confused.

The total for two, which included an appetizer, two drinks, and the two least expensive entrees, was $65 excluding the tip. If it had been half as much I would have been ok with it. Also, while we ate dinner, we watched a family of frogs hop around the dining area. It was entertaining, but not appropriate for a restaurant. We will not go back.

This is the best restaurant I have eaten at in Sarasota. I love the menu, the restaurant is beautiful and the service is excellent. I tried the kale Cesar salad with an order of grilled grouper. It was terrific. I wish they'd have served me a little more fish and a little more salad as it wasn't as bountiful as my wife's crab cake salad but what I got was really well prepared, interesting, creative and well executed. Back for dinner a couple days later and tried the fried chicken. Organic, free range served with crystal hot sauce with honey. This is some of the best fried chicken I have ever had. It's outstanding. I love the sauce. It's supposed to come with mac and cheese but I substituted brussels sprouts. They were really good. Could have been cooked a little longer so they'd be more tender but the flavors were great. Bacon and seasoned really nicely. Again the service was great and everyone enjoyed their meals. I highly recommend you try this restaurant.

This is an amazing restaurant and kind of unexpected. The atmosphere is amazing and they offer some great food options for both vegans and non-vegans I have gone for both lunch and dinner and for each situation it exceeded and was an excellent experience. I highly recommend if you are in the area to stop in. Outdoor seating is really nice but the indoor setup is a beautiful site itself. The portions are a good size and the prices are decent for what you get. Highly recommend and I always eat there when I am in the area.

Saw good reviews on Yelp and tried it out. Was not disappointed. Family of 6. No reservation and got seated in 10 minutes. Granted we went about 6 - but at 7 it was packed. Food was delicious. All 6 people in our party loved their food. Staff was great. Portion size was smaller than normal - which I liked. Slightly pricey (avg was $28/plate). But atmosphere and food was worth it. Will recommend to friends and family.

Super great place I discovered on this last visit to St Armands Circle, very eclectic and Chic. Had a techno music mixer DJ spinning some really relaxing tropical beats for those dining. Place was very busy, it was Fathers Day and the brunch was fantastic. The ambiance and decor were awesome, and the bar was beautiful, the large doors were open allowing fresh air and tropical sun rays to blast through the dining room. I would highly recommend this restaurant and if you just want to have a cocktail the bar is awesome and listening to the music was a true + as well.

Good food. Tomato seafood bisque was on special and it was excellent. Big portions and nicely presented. Wine list is a little thin and they need to keep the bathrooms better stocked. Other than that, perfect dining experience out on the deck with the retractable roof. Loved the experience and would go again.

We were pleasantly surprised! Fantastic meals (chimichurri skirt steak, beet salad, tuna tartar) modern and crisp decor, and wonderfully friendly staff (especially our server Rebecca). Could you ask for anything more?

Ate at the Shore for the first time tonight. The atmosphere was great. Very modern and fresh. The food variety was interesting. Ended up ordering the Key West Shrimp and scallops with risotto. It was phenomenal. My wife had the filet of beef and mashpotatoes. Her meal was excellent as well. The place was a little pricey for me and so when I go back it will be for lunch. Definitely a place you should try out.

This is a fabulously cool spot. Very trendy with outdoor seating overlooking St Armand's Circle. There is a great sunshade if you're there during the day and modern heaters to tAke any chill off the night. If you don't go for dinner it's definitely a spot to go for a drink. The restaurant atmosphere, drinks and general staff were all great and friendly. I'm giving the dining experience three stars as our waitress seemed to be overloaded. We waited long periods between drinks, meal ordering, dish clearing and requests. In fact, another waitress passed our table with the dirty dishes so many times she finally just pitched in to clear it. In addition, I thought the food was somewhat uneven. The Kung Pau Calamari is one of the best calamari dishes we've ever experienced. If you order only one item order this one! The Red Snapper, while tasty was dry and slightly overcooked . For my meal I ordered the Tuna Tartare and Yesterday's Soup which was chicken, pork and chick peas. These were presented well but the Tuna lacked flavor. The soup was very tasty, but was mostly broth. Very little of the meat or vegetables. As this was my main meal I mentioned it to the waitress who brought me a cup with some 'extra'. ... Based on other reviews I would like to go back sometime in hopes that this was just an off night - it's a great spot!

Delicious vegan options! Creamy avocado kale Cesar was super good as well as the truffle oil french fries (we asked to leave off the parmesan) and the black bean burger. Also nice open to the outside restaurant with additional outdoor sitting.

What a nice romantic place for dinner! Sat outside next to the fire. Very comfortable, beautiful evening. We had a great dinner starting with a great crab and corn chowder, followed by Key West shrimp and scallops, and can't wait to go back. Nice people watching too. Fun night!!

I stayed in Sarasota several times over the past year, and my dinners at Shore Diner were by far the best restaurant experiences I had while in the area. Great service, food, and atmosphere. The shrimp and scallop entree was fantastic, and our server, Stacy, was very knowledgeable, funny, and such a pleasure! A++

Was definitely pleasantly impressed. The food was tasty! The black truffle fries are a must. The waitress and staff were super friendly and talktative. We loved the decorations and retractable roof. It's surprisingly trendy and surpassed my expectations.

Be prepared to wait for a table. Love the modern, open atmosphere here. Food is decent. When I was recently there, I had the scallops and they were very good and perfectly sheared. However, the time before I ordered crab cakes and they were overly seasoned. Consistency isn't always there. But the service is excellent. The servers know the menu inside and out.

I have been to Sarasota five times now, but have never visited Shore and when my girlfriend suggested it I was unsure because it looked very fancy and very expensive. After hearing what was on the menu I thought it sounded interesting and worth a try. I was surprised to find the lunch menu very well priced, especially for most fine dining around St. Armand's. At first the menu seemed small, but the more I looked it over the more the diversity and different flavors struck me and I found myself wanting one of everything. My girlfriend had the Kale salad and loved it. I have the fish sandwich and it was one of the best I had, not just because of the fish but all the ingredients. Everything was fresh, tasty the portions were fantastic. We ordered truffle fries to start which was a mistake because there were so many and we devoured them all. The atmosphere was beautiful, the music was good and we were both surprised by the place which I always find nice. Lastly our waitress Mahliyo was helpful, very attentive to our needs, informed on the menu and as friendly as could be. All around great experience and I would highly recommend this venue.

We have visited several times before with pleasing results. This time we took a guest couple with us. The "special of the day" filet was a disappointment to our first guest who found it flavorful but tough. The two ladies ordered cioppino which was very difficult to eat because the crab legs were not properly cut in the kitchen. Imagine having to pull crab legs out of the broth to break and cut. A real mess. Mediocre flavor. I had the encrusted tuna again. Not as good as I remembered it. We sat among 3tables with kids...some of whom were allowed to run around the dining room. Overall, not what I expected. Disappointed.

Ohh the Shore diner let me start you off when you walk in were greeted with a very modern and nice atmosphere.. When the menu comes around it's not the most impressive... We order no appetizers we were all starving want our meals the waiter says that everything comes with fries we order 2 lobster BLT and they come with this warm un appetizing salad that has no flavor so we had to order extra fries that were good.. We order a bacon burger for a child just cheese medium rare and American cheese with no truffle oil on the fries. The food arrives BOTH fries were not truffle and his burger was with Swiss cheese and bacon and was well done.. :/ we tell the waiter the next burger she brings out was well done AGAIN but correct someone can by and have us cake and apologized for the burger over all one star the lobster BLT left the people who ordered it hungry the burger finish because he was starving and salad still on the plate.. I recommend you don't come here and just stay away it's overpriced and you don't come out satisfied.

Since moving to Sarasota a year ago, we have eaten here about 6 times. We have always been happy with the service and the food has alwaysnbeen above average. Last night, with father in law and mother in law in town, we were excited to take them to the most trendy and comfortable restaurant on the island. However, we were actually disappointed for the first time! Our waitress. Bonnie, as usual, was awesome! But our drink orders kept coming back wrong! And $9.00 plus per drink, that should not happen! Bur it does, and we were not really bothered by that. However, the food was a flop! The tuna was ordered by two of us (group of 8) and both parties did not like the seasoning which includes aniseed? They took two bites and nah! My Jenga Ribs were dry and over cooked, the shrimp and scallops my father in law ordered were overlooked and rubbery and the Skirt Steak was dry and tough! I was embarrassed! The folks who run this restaurant and others in town have a solid reputation. I hope things will improve. The ambiance and location is unmatched and we will give them another chance. There is a lot of competition in Sarasota, so we encourage them to take a quick look at their systems and improve. We will be back!

This is definitely the most awesome atmosphere in St. Armands Circle for a drink and a meal. A young, hip crowd, healthy, interesting menu, and really cool decor make this feel like a true gem in the area. When you walk up the shell-covered stairs, the first thing you see is the green, living wall with the name of the restaurant and a giant set of utensils centered in stainless steel. This roof top restaurant has a retractable roof on one side, a covered middle and an open air front. Waitstaff is attractive and dressed in trendy attire, and very attentive. We were just there for a light lunch, being that I'm getting married (!!!) in less than a week and didn't want anything too indulgent. That said, there were plenty of choices to suit my tastes and I happily ordered a salad with beets, pistachios, grapefruit and goat cheese with the optional addition of grilled shrimp. It came out soon after we ordered, and was lovely to look at and to taste. The flavors all worked so well together, and it was exactly the light, refreshing, delicious lunch I was hoping for. I will be sure to tell all of my friends who are visiting from afar next weekend that this is a great place to visit in between wedding events! Fantastic!

First time at the Circle and randomly came across this place...awesome place - both the food and atmosphere...our waitress was really cool...my wife bought a dress at the Shore store, then we all ate dinner...Shore store needs to expand...great products and brand name.

If you are thinking this is a quick stop diner, not so. High class diner. The food is decently priced $10-18 per plate and very good. My parents had the Mahi sandwich and the grilled cheese with tomato soup. I had the toasted turkey and Brie baguette. Staff is friendly and very welcoming. I would definitely come back just dressed a little more than the casual that I was dressed.

Nice restaurant on st Armand's. Well made food, nice ambience. Downside is a limited menu. I enjoyed the simple burger, but the other entrees were not as inspiring. Worth the visit, but the menu could be more creative.

Wonderful menu, very good food, great service and a top notch setting. What more could you ask for. My wife had the burger with the truffle parmesan french fries. The fries alone would be worth the trip to this place. I had the Jambalaya pasta and it was equally as good. Tons of seafood over thick noodles in a cajun cream sauce. Wine choices are perfect for this type of restaurant and the setting sets the tone even further. Top it off with the apple pie with ice cream for dessert and you are in utopia.

I read an article about this new place that just opened on St. Armands and of course I had to check it out. OMG what a disappointment. For starters, I arrived at 530 and the place was dead. There are only 4 normal booths in the whole restaurants and one was taken. I told the hostess I would like one of the remaining 3 and was told she rather seat me in an awkward long bench thing across the back wall. Feeling pressured I caved, but within 10 minutes she had seated other parties at the 3 booths I wanted... what on earth is that about? The waiters' outfits are like frumpy gym clothes and they aren't uniform so you can't tell who works there and who doesn't. They currently have no drink specials and no happy hour of any kind. The cheapest cocktail starts at $10, appetizers avg $15+ and entrees are $25-45, and don't even look that good. The appetizer was delivered but without silverware or plates... I won't continue, but needless to say we won't be back again.

Spent an overnight in Sarasota and was referred to this restaurant by our Concierge. We had a reservation which are highly recommended and were seated immediately in the back of the restaurant. Shore Diner has a retractable roof upstairs and it was just lovely to sit in the restaurant under the stars. Our waiter was very good and provided excellent service. I ordered the Mai Tai which was served in a tall glass. I think I would have preferred the shorter glass and less juice, but maybe that's just me. I ordered the sea bass which was so delicate, it melted in my mouth. It was served over a bed of spinach pasta and some roasted vegetables. My friend ordered the Ciopinni (not sure how to spell that), and she said it was quite good.

A wonderful restaurant. Great atmosphere and the service is outstanding. When there try the Warm Olives & Marcona Almond for an appetizer.

  • Ben S.

A unique and beautiful restaurant on an upper level. Attentive service, plenty of breathing room compared to places like Columbia. The Truffle Fries as appetizer are great. The lobster sliders are delicious and filling, despite being said to be an appetizer. Try for lunch if you'd rather your wallet not to suffer. Not saying dinner's expensive, but it's expensive. Lunch portions are just as a large and just as fresh and delightful. And the whole mood of restaurant shifts to sunny beach-influenced bar when the sun's out, compared to the sleek, stylish South-Beach-post-2009 club feel it takes on at night. Give both a chance.

pretty deesh - good atmosphere - try for a seat on the balcony. I recommend the crab cake as an app. this thing is pretty much whopper sized and will spoil your entree unless your stomach is a garbage disposal like mine.

Great setting and ambiance. Decent service, though they get very crowded and seem to use some sort of tag team waiter system, so we didn't seem to see our waitress when we needed her most. Food was average at best (2 stars).... The jambalaya for example was just a big mess of pasta with some sausage and chicken completely drowned in butter and cream. The mussels appetizer looked ok, but was way over salted. My suggestion is to go here for drinks and basic appetizers, but skip the dinner.

Everyone enjoyed their food, we all ordered the same dessert - butterscotch!, yum. Went for the view on 7/4 for fireworks and were pleased to see them as expected. Also a bar, and really is more like a bar that serves food than a restaurant that serves drinks.

We enjoyed a very delicious meal at the shore diner. My mom, sisters, and I went here for dinner and couldn't have enjoyed it more. I tried the fried chicken which unknowingly is a half a chicken and amazing! 2 of my sisters had the pork belly and cleaned their plates, my other sister had the surf and turf and was equally as pleased while mom had the lemon risotto with scallops and shrimp which was also delicious. Our server, Chad, was awesome. He was attentive and very helpful with all of our questions. The atmosphere is wonderful and the prices are incredibly reasonable especially for the portions given! Would return happily!

Very Nice..... Our group had a selection that included lobster blt's, a bowl of fresh fruit, and a Nutella and marshmallow sandwich. Serving sizes were all large and the food and drink were quite tasty. The atmosphere was nice (as was the weather), the service was good and it was a really nice experience. I suggest that you make this an early vacation visit while in the Long Boat Key/Sarasota area....you won't be disappointed.

This place is the best restaurant in the Sarasota/Longboat Key area. The staff are great. The menu is fun and has something for everyone. Do yourself a favor and order the lobster sliders and the fried chicken. Your arteries will hate you. But your stomach will thank you. The cocktail with St Germain and mint and cucumber is also great. I will come here a lot. Way better than the places at the Ritz and downtown.

Love the outdoor space at The Shore. I order the crab cake salad every visit. It's full of crab, not fillers. Served on Bibb lettuce with avocado and corn relish, finished with aioli and micro greens. The waitress suggested the smoked fish appetizer and she was correct. It's delicious. I'm not a fan of smoked fish, but this preparation is mildly smoked and paired with house pickled vegetables. The combination is wonderful. Dining companions have tried the fish tacos, beet salad, burger and chimichuri salad and all raved about them. The vibe, design and food are first rate. The service has always been efficient and pleasant. Interesting speciality cocktails. This place should be packed, but it seems people aren't aware of the gem that awaits them up those cool steps.

I had the best meal during my trip to the Sarasota area here. We had a late lunch here. I liked the fact that it faces the main hub, but on the second floor so the noise is not bad at all. Service was good not overly attentive but not ever feeling like we were looking for the waitress. Started with a white sangria that was ever so good! My crab salad was so delicious. I even splurged on fries that were cooked nicely.

I would say this is the coolest place to eat at St. Armand Circle! Good is great! Atomsphere is chill! I say this is a MUST try! I think you will agree with me!

Food was decent but they charged us 9.50 for 8 drinks and $6 for $5 beer. The menu clearly stated the prices and the bartender just gave me a stupid look like, what are you complaining for?? when I asked to talk to the manager he said he wasn't here and he knew the "menu needed to be updated" and he would talk to the manager when he returned and remind him..... What a JOKE... Don't bother.

I was visiting for winter break and came here for New Year's Eve. I'm vegan and I was SO impressed with their vegan options, especially for a non-vegetarian restaurant. The Kale Caesar salad was delicious and the cauliflower steak dish showed a real appreciation for complex flavors and textures. I wish more restaurants would realize that vegan food can be delicious and treat vegan customers as well as Shore Diner!

This was an amazing restaurant. Maybe its just me, I dunno but their food was excellent. Everything we had was just perfect with amazing flavors. We sat outside on the balcony area and it was just really super pleasant. Service was just fine too and maybe because it was low season, not sure but while there were plenty of people in the place, they had enough tables that they could easily accomodate us. Sweet!

Drinks are tasty, atmosphere is awesome, food is ok. Service is slow because it was so packed probably. Would like to go back over the summer if it isn't too hot when everyone goes back north.

Everything about this place is great!! The location is cool, located on top of a surf store. The atmosphere is very chill but modern and laid back. You could go here on a date, with friends, with a group, with your parents, grandparents...whoever you enjoy to spend a great dinner with. The food was really good. I had the mussels and my husband had the fried chicken which was phenomenal. Our server was great, unfortunately I forget her name but she had an accent and I believe she was from Europe (I know, there are many different types of accents that come from Europe) but I just can't think of where she is from at the moment. I had the sangria which was good. Definitely a place I would want to revisit when I return to Sarasota. This place is not one you want to miss!!!

Great new addition to Armond Circle; the restaurant is as hipmasnthe store below. Kobe Tuna was perfectly cooked and nicely plated with roasted asparagus. Portion, like most of the menu, was large so think share unless you are really hungry. Scallops and key west shrimp we're excellent; definitely worth trying. The fried chicken was a good as anywhere in the south but it's a true, 4 piece half chicken. Literally enough for two. Wait staff was very attentive if a little inexperienced but aded to the experience. Front seating is better in evening because the setting sun comes in through the back window into west-facing dinners eyes plus the open-air design of the space and interesting people watching are all better towards the front. The Shore will definitely be on our "have to" list when we return to LBK!

Came here for lunch on Nov. 8. The pace was pretty empty. First impression, it was very nice inside. My husband and I both ordered the fried chicken with mac n cheese. My husband also ordered the bean soup. We had iced tea to drink. The soup was very good. The waitress asked my husband if he wanted bread, he said yes. The bread never arrived. The ice in our ice tea melted and we had to ask the waitress for more ice. She should have known without us telling her. They brought out the fried chicken, first thought it was burnt. When you bite into it, the breading crumbled off. Way overcooked. It was just ok. Nothing spectacular. The mac n cheese was just noodles in a cream sauce. No cheese flavor whatsoever. If you want the best mac n cheese, go to the Lazy Lobster on Longboat Key and get the Lobster Mac n cheese. It is to die for. Do not think I will go back to the Shore. There are much better places to eat in St. Armands.

Waited over an hour for a table, only to sit 30 minutes before a waitperson acknowledged our presence. Manager comped our drinks. Came home with food poisoning. Not an exceptionally great way to spend the weekend. Still in bed recovering from the episode.

Lobster and shrimp taco??? Lobster was like a lobster mush, not chunk pieces of lobster. More like a Mc Donald's kids chicken meal. The place was very clean and fresh but the food was not up to the challenge. Needs some refinement before becoming a regular.

Our first visit to The Shore Diner was CRAZY when the restaurant first opened. A local, I was anxious to experience it and show off this hip new restaurant to my family who were visiting from California. We were gracious as we waited 2 HOURS for our food consisting of burgers and salad, special drinks-nothing complicated. Oh well, I thought - they're new and busy. I have returned with friends and family, and although I thorough enjoy the decor and ambiance, I am never thrilled with the food. For the high prices, I expect good food. Our last visit with friends from Colorado was disappointing. It was 9:00 pm when we placed our order. Maybe the restaurant was preparing to close for the evening - it was very slow. Anyway I ordered the black bean cakes, but it was definitely refried beans - awful! Our friends did not complain about their fish dinners, but they did not eat them -weird, since we were all starving. The most shocking thing was the famous Shore burger - very below par. We have taken a lot of people to this restaurant as well as bragging about it to all - we are the locals and we want nothing but success for local businesses - but for now we cannot recommend the Shore Diner to anyone.

Been in Sarasota for 6 months, best place by far. Food was on point. Wait staff was eager to help. The layout was perfect. Awesome, simple, streamlined. Lobster tacos, and fried oyster sliders are a must. Pricing is all over the map ranging from $13 - $27 dollars. All in all will be back there soon; any place in St Armands that let's you slide in with flip flops and board-shorts on is ok in my book

Consistently good. Good greeting, good service, good food, good vibe -- and if you sit in front, great people watching. This restaurant has become our go-to option for out of town guests, too. Thumbs up.

My overall experience at the Diner was great. The waitress was friendly and knowledgeable. The food was also generally stellar -- the calamari and mini lobster rolls were full of flavor! The fried chicken was okay, but I've had better (the coating was a little thick and not as crispy as I would have liked).

Anytime I get to eat with two DJ's on a mixer its a great experience. Shore Diner combines modern mid century design and thoughtful architectural elements, along with retractable ceilings to the outdoors. Menu is fresh and will interest locavores. Even the delicious black bean burger filled my hearty apatite.

Shore Galore! This place is outstanding. The interior is very well thought out, extremely sexy, and has good energy. The bartenders are very friendly and attentive. The food is awesome and presentation of the food is impressive. Drinks were also very good. Of all the places on the circle, this is by far the hippest environment with the best food and service. Been multiple times and it's always a sought out destination any time we come to Sarasota for a visit.

What an incredibly terrible experience our family had here yesterday. The kids and I shopped at the store downstairs while waiting the "15 minutes" for our table. Should have known this was not going to end well when they were taking party names on little yellow stickies rather than making an actual list and assigning tables accordingly. Anyway, great atmosphere and menu, place was obviously busy, so we waited. 45 minutes later we were finally seated. Menu looked great and we all looked forward to our food. Friendly waitress took our orders. Then we waited, and waited and waited. Then we realized tables were leaving angry. The waitress had absolutely no explanation other than "the kitchen is backed up". No bread or anything. Could not bring out our salads or soup. As we looked around, we discovered no tables had any food. After almost 2 hours, we just left. No one was being served anything. No manager ever came to the table to offer any apology or explanation. I have never seen such a complete breakdown; a total disaster. Not the slightest respect for the customer. We watched servers standing around the kitchen entrance just watching and waiting for customers to finally just get up and leave. We now realize they must have just run completely out of food, yet they did not have the decency to tell the customers this. What a shame. We were all set to make it our new "fav" place. Clearly, they are so lacking in appropriate leadership and management systems that it cannot function unless really slow.

Granted we've only been in SRQ for about five weeks in total, but this was by the far the best place we've eaten. So not "traditional FL", contemporary, modern vibe, gorgeous inside and lovely covered patio. We had a late lunch, Caesar-like kale salad with zebra tomatoes, which the server suggested adding blackened mahi (good idea), and hubby had the Asian chicken salad with Napa cabbage and vegs, terrific peanut dressing. Portions were perfect size, nice wine list, not unreasonable for,the quality and location. Service was extremely attentive. Can't wait to try for dinner. Would recommend for sure.

Enjoyed lunch yesterday with four lady friends. Restaurant has nice clean design lines. The ladies ordered fish tacos, salads - some with salmon or chicken - I ordered the crabcake salad - one of the best crabcakes EVER! And I am a total crabcake snob - was not expecting a huge, backfin packed cake sauteed crusty brown. Excellent! Salad combined crabcake, greens and "blistered" corn - tasted fresh from the cob. Everyone was pleased with their choice - especially me! Even if I'm not a customer for their clothing store - I know I'll be back for another look upstairs. Give it a try!

Ehh. First off, it's not a "diner", does not have "diner" type food, and has a very limited menu. The food was ok. The staff was very helpful and kind. Our waiter was overly nice, saying please and thank you at the end of every sentence ("here's your drink please", "are you finished please"). For the prices (not too pricy, $18-35 per entree) it was not as good as comparably priced restaurants. I won't go back, but I did hear another patron praising the restaurant on her way out.

Food, when you get it, is good. Wait staff is another question. They are often vacant and when you question them about slow service, you get a surly response. If the kitchen cannot keep up with the orders, time to get a new chef or at least have wait staff tell you how long you will need to wait. Not sure I will be back. Hope you are banking on snowbirds.

My wife and i love the shore ever since it has opened, we even booked a 95th birthday party for my mother in law there fifty people from 40 to 100 years old raved about the food and the wonderful wait staff we had that night. Our only concern is the Bar staff, we have been to the shore about 10 times since it opened and we find that the men that man the bar are dead on with the drinks they prepare and very hospital they can't do enough to make you comfortable and pleased with your choices, real true mixologist, however the female staff ( 2 blondes) seem to be in training of which they need a lot of it. They seem more interested in the young male clients then making sure all clients are taken care of and they lack any since of knowledge on how to mix a good drink. Plus their take it or leave it attitude, makes you feel very unwelcome. Thats why the 4 star rather than 5, management is slipping by allowing those two to work the bar, all that aside WE LOVE THE SHORE!

Waited over an hour for a table, and there were visibly 5-6 tables empty! When I asked why they were seating people so slow they blamed the kitchen, and that they've only been open a month so they are seating people one table at a time (and this was at 9pm). Disappointed at the food and very expensive. Probably wouldn't come here again.

We visited Shore Diner twice during a recent visit to Sarasota and both meals were a wonderful experience. The restaurant was busy but the servers were friendly, attentive and the food arrived in a timely fashion. We went the first night and loved the fresh, imaginative menu so much that we returned the next night with a party of six. We tried several of the appetizers. Our favorites were the Fried oyster sliders, blue crabcakes, and the lobster tacos. Also really loved the Himachi Crudo - delicious and creatively served with watermelon and jalapeno. Our group was pleased with all of our entrees also. I had the Local Gulf Yellowtail - perfectly garnished and so fresh! My husband enjoyed a fantastic burger on a brioche bun with bacon jam and English cheddar! Decor is casual but sleek and sophisiticated - loved the retractable ceiling! We were able to dine under the stars without any bugs or heat! Loved it - we wil return on our next visit!

LOVED LOVED LOVED everything about this joint. While I'm not sure calling themselves a "diner" is accurate, per say, the joint is very welcoming and fun. A bunch of bros and I had the final dinner of my amigo's bachelor party here. It could not have gone any better. We were given prime real estate for people watching to begin our meal. Our server, whose name I wish I could remember, was one of the best I've ever had anywhere. She was a super senior at the local USF campus in Sarasota and basically became one of the bros by the end of our meal. Besides being at our beckon call, she was witty, funny, kind, and made great recommendations throughout the meal. And yes, she was also a radiant young lady. The drink list is stellar! I had a few mai tais and eventually an old fashioned to end the meal. The other dudes in the party had some stiff martinis and quality beers. Food was incredible. I had the tomato risotto special , which was served with lobster, shrimp, and spinach mixed in. Amazeballs. The crab cake on Hawaiian bun I had for an appetizer was also great. My friends tried the steaks, which they said were on fleek. If the bachelor's parents ever invite us back to their baller condo on Longboat, I'll be sure to return to Shore for drinks, food, and debauchery. Hopefully we have the same delightful server! (Sorry again for forgetting your name...)

Our server, Rebecca, was amazing and the food was great. My wife got the kale Caesar salad which she loved. I got the the yellowfin tuna plate which was excellent a must try for any lover of fish and veggies. The old fashioned was also a tasty rendition. One of the better ones I've had.

Friendly staff, cool and modern interior. Awesome food but they miss out on small details: Calamary should be served with lemon on the side, red wine always comes with water....the tuna tar-tar was amazing, the calamry could be a course by itself. The risotto had too much tomato but that was ok. All in all, very nice experience. Side note: out waiter was smoking hot.

4 stars for a trendy upbeat restaurant with original yummy food We stumbled upon this restaurant after viewing some great reviews from Yelp. And after everyone raved about the truffle fries, it was a no brainer! We came here for lunch on a Saturday, and it wasn't too crowded and got seated right away. They are on the 2nd floor, and it was a beautiful and fun entrance up the stairs with the metal fork/spoon and surfboard signage upon entering the dining area. The dining area was an open breezeway that had seating looking out to the street and also in the AC. They also had a large bar. I ordered the fish tacos and they came with truffle fries. My husband ordered a burger, also with truffle fries. My tacos were fresh with a mango salsa, slaw and lime wedge, I was impressed. The burger was also delish and presented nicely with all the veggies on the side. All in all, it was a great atmosphere, clean restaurant with excellent service. I did think the prices were a little steep, each of our meals was $14 each and that's a lunch price, but again you are paying for the atmosphere I think at this point. I was also a little disappointed in the lack of variety on the menu, there wasn't much to select from for lunch. If you want to try something new and unique, I would get it a try and I would like to go back if I had the chance.

Second time and still wonderful place really a great brunch. Rebecca our waitress knows how to have you happy as a costumer like Tery. Great lobster and shrimp Cobb incredible presentation. My husband ate the salmon benedict and our friend the crab cake Benedict. My other friends ate the Chicken and biscuit really the sauce was light and tasty. I have the fish sandwich so fresh and with a nice flavor. She brought us this incredible desserts. Key lime in a glass. Butterscotch and whipped cream And the best gluten free chocolate cake. Really recommend this place.

When in Sarasota, we always make a point of dining at Shore Diner. Whether lunch or dinner, this restaurant does not disappoint. Consistently fabulous food and the service is impeccable. Do your taste buds a favor and come here. Service was great! Atmospher was stellar. Drinks are stiff. Food is great, really beyond great. My wife and I are total foodies and this place knocked our socks off. We come from Vermont where food is served fresh and served farm to table. And this place would fit right in. Make sure you come here.

Thank you Yelp for helping us find this place. Spent the last few days in Land O Lakes where getting a good meal was close to impossible. Ordered the Lobster Cobb which was Fantastic and perfect! If you don't like this dish your tastebuds are dead! Bacon and egg sandwich was creamy and the bun was terrific. Wife had Cajun grooper which too was perfectly executed and seasoned great! Truffle fries were a 10! Portions were perfect as well! Rebecca server I would hire away if I had my business down here! Awesome experience and they hit the mark from the design, Three three pretty hostesses, location, menu designs. Real pros opened this place and it shows!

If you are stopping in sarasota for a bit you have to go here! It's in the middle of this cute little area with lots of shopping and some good people watching too. This place has a really nice vibe and is located upstairs. We had great service and everything was delicious. I got the blackbean burger and it was great! I ate it without the bun because that thing is huge and I thought it would take away from the flavor. My mom got the seafood Cobb salad and holy moly that thing isn't messin! It's full of color and flavor and you shoyld give it a whirl.:)

out of all the restaurant options in St.Armand's this one looked the most appealing so decided to give it a try. The modern look & vibe looked straight out of an LA eatery with the flame pillars and dim lighting in an outdoor setting. Very trendy looking interior full of very trendy looking people makes me feel like im dining in LA! There were even open views of St.Armand's circle from every seat and the interior was lighted by a cool looking bar that looks like it could serve up some awesome drinks. The misses ordered a Shore Cocktail that tasted like a cucumber gimlet that was very cool and refreshing. As a big IPA fan, I was happy to find Lagunitas on the menu which made my drink selection all the more easy. With so many cool and interesting things to try on the menu, what stuck out immediately was the Bahn Mi Oysters ($8). Easily we could have ordered 2 portions of this appetizer as the 4 pieces our plate came with were scarfed down with the quickness. Think of a fried oyster with the Bahn Mi Garnishments of daikon radish, carrot strands & sliced cucumbers on top. The oyster was actually already separated from the shell and "plated" on top of the oyster shell that revealed a mayo like sauce on the bottom of the fried oyster when lifted. My only complaint is that we didn't order more! We also ordered a side of the Mac & Cheese ($8) which was very cheesy, had alot of flavor and had tender macaroni. Didn't really taste like anything really out of the ordinary from other mac & cheeses i've had but it did have a nice crunch to it after every bite from the bread crumbs that were sprinkled over the top. For dinner, we decided to split the Shore burger ($15) & ordered it Medium Rare. The burger was good and had alot of juices dripping after each bite and contained a bacon like jam inside but dripped on to my plate after every bite. The real star of the plate was the side of truffle fries it came with. I don't think i've ever had an order of truffle fries that tasted bad unless it was soggy. Happy to report that their truffle fries were amazing and really hit the spot ! I was actually going to order a plate of this on its own but when i found out that that truffle fries came with the burger on the side that made my selection all the more easier. I really wanted to try the cauliflower steak as i've heard great reviews and will opt for that one the next come around. If your looking for a cool and hip dining experience in St.Armand's circle check out the Shore Diner !

This place might be a 5 star experience. Don't let diner fool you. This place looks like a W hotel. Modern, clean and very appealing. Then, if it's nice, the awning rolls back and it goes from emerging night to midday which was really cool. Food. Had a kale Caesar which is a great emerging trend. Has avocado in it. Very good. Had red snapper with spinach and a rice pile underneath. Looked appealing and it was one of the best fish dishes I have ever had. And I only eat fish (no meat of any kind). The cheesy potatoes were underwhelming as was mac and cheese. Taste simply wasn't there. Wife's meatloaf looked amazing and she said it was excellent. Friends had lobster soup and said it was excellent. Service was solid too. Didn't do dessert. Well worth your time. Make a reservation.

My cousin and I dined here for lunch on a Saturday. The restaurant was pretty empty so we were seated immediately upon arrival. I go to St Armands at least once every two months and never knew this place existed. They are located on the second floor in a less populated part of the circle. I started off with the curry cauliflower soup. The soup was so creamy and had this wonderful spicy kick to it. For my main meal I had the fish sandwich. The fish was cooked perfectly; it had just the right amount of moisture. It was also very fresh. Their menu is limited though but still a must try.

Shore Diner is most certainly not what you would think of when you hear the word "diner". This trendy restaurant and bar is located on the second floor above the Shore clothing store on St. Armand's Circle in Sarasota, FL. Stairs up to the restaurant are located to the left of the clothing store entrance and when you walk up the steps the restaurant logo of a silver surfboard between a fork and knife is displayed on a wall covered by some type of ivy plant. Shore serves lunch and dinner with lots of indoor and outdoor seating. There is a retractable roof over the patio for when it rains as well as large fans for hotter days and large modern white heat lamps for when it's chilly. The bar is located inside, but there are also high top tables and lounge seating on the patio. Service has been consistent as has the food. My only gripe would be that the lunch menu is limited with only 2 salads and sandwiches. I would love to see more salad or entree health conscious options. For dinner the pricing of entrees seems to be extremely varied... the Fried Chicken costs $17 and then there is a Prime Rib steak for $41... The selection on the dinner menu is also a bit confusing and not very unique. Overall I think this is a beautiful restaurant with a great view overlooking St. Armand's circle, but I find myself ordering the same dishes every time. The food is good, but I tend to frequent this restaurant for the atmosphere. I think they're menu could use some work, the food could be more memorable.

Was in the Sarasota area for the Fourth of July and we decided that we would have dinner in the St. Armands area. We had three restaurants in mind, but ended up going with the Shore Diner. We had read the reviews and checked the menu and it seemed like a good choice. We were unaware that it was upstairs, so when we got to the bottom entrance where the store is located, we stood there a little confused. Thankfully the store employee had noticed us and quickly arrived to let us know we needed to go upstairs. Once upstairs, we were greeted by the hostesses and where promptly taken to our seat in the outside area. As soon as we were seated, our server Meg appeared and asked for our drink order. We decided to share the following: Lobster rolls, Truffle Fries, Lobster Mac'n'Cheese, the Calamari, and the Butterscotch Pot de Creme. We also each had a Hibiscus Tea Sparkler that we both liked. I recommend the fries, Mac'n'Cheese, calamari, the hibiscus sparkler, and the dessert. The service was wonderful and everyone was super friendly. I especially love the view of the circle from the outdoor seating area. It is a big space and very beautiful.

I came here for a girls lunch. There is indoor and outdoor seating. The location is great since it's right in St.armands circle. It was able to accommodate all 10 of us at a nice long wooden table. The drinks are strong and tasty. The server took a long time to come take out drink order and we asked to order our food and she said she'd come right back and didn't. I'm not sure if it was because we were a larger party having fun and she didn't want to intrude. But we did ask several time so I'm not sure and They didn't seem to busy. She also took forever to bring our check. Items such as the lobster sandwich and the black bean burger were among the favorites. The food was hit or miss like any restaurant. Overall, the atmosphere was nice, the food was good depending on what you ordered, the service is what brought his down to 3 stars.

Overall an excellent experience! My girlfriend and I were in town for the weekend and wanted a quick bite at a place where we could still enjoy the beach atmosphere. The Shore was perfect. The restaurant sits atop a clothing store it owns and has a large covered balcony. A great place to take in the sunset and enjoy a drink. For our dinner we decided on four appetizers vs. actually ordering entrees. We couldn't have made a better decision. We ordered the calamari, the home made buffalo mozzarella, the carnitas tacos, and the tuna tar tar. A world tour of sorts. The calamari comes fried mixed in a dressing similar to a vinaigrette. It's incredible. My girlfriend isn't the biggest fan of squid and even she loved it. The tuna tar tar is fresh, served atop avocado, and was personally my favorite. The mozzarella and the tacos were also fantastic. I will definitely recommend this restaurant to any friends visiting Lido Key or St. Armand's Square. We even went back for brunch the next day (it was just as good!)

I'm editing this review and increasing my original rating from 2 stars to 3 stars. My husband, mother-in-law and I returned in April as we had received a gift card from management to come back. To be clear, the $25 gift card covered 1 person. This place is trying to take diner food and make it high-end, what what they've done is taken good, greasy diner food, and put it on nicer plates, increased the price, and decreased the portion size. The service was better this time and the drinks and good were "okay", but not a fantastic reason for me to return. Cheers! _________________________________________________________________ Original: Sadly, I'm just not impressed by my experience at the Shore Diner. The decor and layout is nice and the place is packed, but we didn't have good service. My mother-in-law and I arrived for our reservation and were given a buzzer and told to wait. Eventually we were seated... About the same time as the walk-ins. The waiter initially was fast to take our drink order. But returning to take our food order or provide basic check ins or a refill... Ha! non-existent! Though I spent plenty of time staring at our waiter watching him talking to other waiters and leaning on the wall and the service station. The food was actually pretty good. We ordered a beet salad to split, but it arrived unsplit. We sent it back to be split, but the brought it back again unsplit. The rest of our meal was fine, but I thought the food was a bit overpriced... $7 for a side of asparagus?!? (And I had asked for broccolini...) The end.

Accepted our 9pm reservation on Open Table, then refused to seat us when we got there on time. There were still several parties sitting down eating, and we told them we had just paid for a cab from 30 minutes away. The hostess then pretended to have attempted to contact us "several times." Would give zero stars if possible since we got zero food zero drinks and zero service

Good food and decent cocktails. Especially liked the lobster shrimp cob salad and lobster roll - they don't skim on the lobster! Truffle fries were very tasty as well. The atmosphere and the decor on the outside terrace is really nice, inside seemed far less enjoyable, so if you go during a busy weekend, make sure to reserve on the terrace.

My family and I had lunch here while visiting Sarasota. The atmosphere and food were both great! I loved that it was an open air cafe. My husband ordered the cauliflower steak -it was AMAZING! The quinoa salad with it was fantastic! My meal was good, but he definitely won the food lottery! I had the black bean burger and it was great too. Their fries were delicious!! Food was great, service was great and we loved the vibe. Great for both vegans and non vegans. We will definitely be back the next time we are in Sarasota.

I'll be short and sweet. My wife and I took whirl wind tour of Florida in February 2015. We were in Orlando, Lido Key/Sarasota, Venice, Palm Beach and Vero Beach. Of all the meals we had, diner at Shore Diner was the best we had. One rolls the dice when picking a restaurant in a strange location, in my opinion you won't go wrong at Shore Diner.

  • Chae D.

Yay, a well designed, reasonably priced, modern restaurant at St. Armand's Circle! Our lovely server (Casey) gave us a few recommendations so we tried the calamari and she earned our trust, it's a fantastic starter. We both had the meatloaf and loved it. Great ambience, well trained, personable staff and cool vibe. We will be back!!

We came here because we read the review here in Yelp. We were passing by Sarasota and wanted to have a nice dinner. SHORE was delicious, we even reordered the Kung Pao Calamaris! We tried the Thay Curry Mussels, Kung Pao Calamari, Local Red Snapper and the Cedar Key Clams, Mussels and Shrimp. All the plates were delicious!

Best looking staff in Sarasota. Great deck. Solid people watching. Sexy decor. This place is more important for the atmosphere as anything else - at night, great place to meet attractive singles. Stop in downstairs, fantastic beach shop.

Went to diner and loved the atmosphere. Superb service by our waitress Kasey! First time here and the food was great. Although close to the water still feels contemporary but yet perfect restaurant for the location. If you want good service ask for Kasey!

Nice setup, good food. The seafood salad, clamp scallop noodle, and also the fried oyster starter. The waitress Mahliyo is easy-going, helpful and nice. She introduced several dishes on the menu , as well as the special of the day as in the picture. She also offered to help on another issue we had, which is so sweet. This is really a sensation!

We met family at this place for dinner, it was much more than a 'diner' don't let the name fool you! The menu was great, all four of us loved our meals, all very fresh ingredients and flavorful. I had snapper with a tapenade over risotto - fantastic. Great selection of beer on tap and in bottles. There was a wine list also, but I can't comment as I am not a wine person. Our server was knowledgeable and able to recommend dishes and beer selections. Clean and fun atmosphere. Sarasota looked like a great town to walk around in, but there was a lot closed...it was a Sunday evening.

  • Trish S.

Great atmosphere and people watching. Yes the fries are bomb. Sunday vibes good and the DJ added to the ambience. Kitchen was a little slow but feel like that comes with the territory. All good choices were solid. Lobster Cobb, burger and fish sandwich all crowd pleaser and the avocado toast to start also a good choice. Great spot!

We were told by lots of people to come eat here. Sure, the ambiance is great. It's classy, modern, and definitely the hippest spot to be at on this little island. I don't know if I've just been spoiled with ridiculously good food, but everything I had here was simply meh. I'd classify the menu here as New American and I have to say it is very diverse. First, we started off with some brussel sprouts. Personally, I like mine crispy but these were on the soggy side. Not sure if that was how it was supposed to be but I wasn't a big fan. The tuna tartare was lacking flavor, and tuna for that matter. There just wasn't very much of it. The Kung Pao Calamari was good for the first few bites. It's a huge dish, but it's also very sweet, so it was hard to eat a lot of it. The mac n cheese was another alright dish. Is it me or does Kraft just do a great job when it comes to Mac n Cheese? Lastly, the best thing we had all night was the Key West Shrimp & Scallop. The presentation was beautiful, overall a decent dish. Given the small number of dining options on St. Armand's, Shore Diner may come out on top. By no means is it worth going out of your way for though. If it were up to me, I would've given 2 stars for the food. Thankfully, the service was pretty good so I decided to bump it up a notch.

  • Patty P.

I give Shore Diner high marks for location and Ambiance, however I was not impressed with the meal that I had there. I ordered a steak, and I get it, maybe that is not their specialty, but that's what I was hungry for that night. It wasn't a great cut and there was a lot of it that I couldn't eat. I didn't find our server to be exceptionally good, and the drinks were pretty watered down. All in all it was an "ok" experience.

    (2)
  • A M.

Service was confusing. It seemed like we had 3 different servers. Also, there wasn't much variety on the menu and all of the options were WAY overpriced. The chicken might as well have been tapas. Cool atmosphere, but I came to eat not hang out. So I guess if you're meeting to hang out at the bar I would recommend, otherwise don't waste your time.

  • Polly R.

Love the atmosphere. Waitress was excellent! My daughter's Happy Potter book cover had fallen off and the waitress took the book to the hostess and had her tape it back together for my daughter...that is going above and beyond. The food was really good! I had the Red Snapper and it was very delicous...the only thing I didn't care for was the topping for the fish. My husband had the lobster Cobb salad...it was huge! Lots of protein included. For gluten free people they have some options. My 8 year old had gf grilled chicken and it was very tasty. My 10 year old had the scallops. The scallops were cooked well, the risotto was delish. Our main issue with this dish was the sauce around the plate was terribly bitter and just plain terrible...the taste lingered way longer than you would like. This place is a must try for anyone traveling to St Armands key anytime soon. Healthy, fresh, delicious food.

Great restaurant! We had dinner here while staying at a beach house for a weekend within walking distance. The restaurant is located in the popular St Armand's circle above a clothing store. Decor of the restaurant is unique and modern. The roof actually opens up for the cooler weather season. We visited during the hot summer, and it was raining that day so no chance of the roof opening up for us. The menu has a nice selection that appeals to all. I ordered the burger with truffle fries. It was one of the best burgers I've had in awhile. Truffle fries were amazing. I also tasted other items at the table - mussels, fish entree with risotto. All delicious. Service was excellent and food came out quickly. I'll definitely be back here if ever in the area again.

Strongly recommend the fried chicken. That's right. The best I have had. Meatloaf was ok. But the fried chicken...yum!

The final touch that would have given this place 5 stars would be better bread that comes with Nancy's Pulled Pork Hash, but otherwise this place is delicious. I was very tempted to give this place five stars, because the food is delicious. However, to truly achieve five star status, I think a place should be top notch on all details and it surprised me that the sweet bread was essentially just Hawaiian Rolls that you can get from any grocery store. My mom and I came on a Sunday for brunch. The menu has so many choices and you can choose to eat lunch if you want. The restaurant is upstairs, so we chose to eat on the balcony. It is great for people watching and the fans keep you cool. Our waitress was pretty attentive, but was a little on the slow side. It didn't bother us, because we were having a lazy brunch and I think that was the point. I started with their banana smoothie that was made with coconut yogurt. It was absolutely delicious. My only complaint would be there was a lot of little seeds in the drink, but I would still order it again. I got the Nancy Pulled Pork Hash and would strongly recommend it to anyone coming here. The pull pork was tender and the eggs perfectly poached. It was huge and even by dinner I still wasn't hungry. If you are in the area, you need to stop by this place. Prices are decent for the amount of food you get.

Blown away at how filling the Cauliflower steak was. The quinoa was cooked just right. Not too bad selection of wine. Also tried the Truffle fries which aren't too overwhelming, just the right balance. Will definitely visit again.

I had the Mediterranean chicken sandwich which included fresh mozzarella and roasted red peppers. It came with a side salad of dark greens and baby tomatoes in a vinaigrette dressing. It was delicious and more than I could eat. The service wasn't super fast but if you aren't in a hurry it's worth a visit.

Great hip spot in a happening neighborhood with terrific ambiance. It's no wonder Kolby and I went there 2 nights IN A ROW! Dinner 1: Kung Pau Calamari- delicious! Even for someone who doesn't typically care for Calamari. Local Kale "Caesar"- outstanding. I want to try this one at home. St. Louis "Jenga" Ribs- Not the best ribs we've ever had. A bit too sweet. Dinner 2: Roasted Red and Golden Beets- Can't go wrong here Organic Fried Chicken- Really, really good Sliced Sirloin Caprese- Healthy and tasty. Can't wait to go back!

We went back last week for my son's birthday. It was very busy and we were sat at a table that was outside and in the middle of the patio so was very dark as we only had one candle for light. After asking the waitress for another candle I decided to get up and ask someone else as she was extremely busy. I asked for the manager and she took care of it immediately. They brought 5 more candles so we had really great ambiance. Lol. The food was great. I recommend the lobster sliders and the chocolate cake. Definitely will go back.

We had lunch here today with a group of friends. Several of us had the grouper fish sandwich. Two of us commented that the size of the grouper serving was pretty small. Big winner at the table was the seafood Cobb salad including lobster, shrimp, crab, avocado, greens. The beet, carrots, and ginger drink was unusual and good, as was the green lemonade. Truffle fries were nicely done. The service and the setting were fine.

This place had a nice atmosphare. Very disappointed in the drinks. Everything seemed to be watered down. I ordered on of the specialty drinks and it came with a ball of ice that was almost the size of the whole glass. Needless to say my $12 drink was practically done after a few sip and the rest was just the melting ice. My wife got the sangria which also tasted watered down. Bartender was nice but I will not be returning to this establishment.

Great atmosphere especially when the roof is opened. Have been several times and have loved all of the food. The calamari is so good as is the red snapper and also their burger. Friendly staff.

We had the best lobster salad and cold fresh pressed juice. I had the lemonade with kale, lemon, and ginger. Delilah. Everything was fresh, great customer service and nice open atmosphere (very modern and chic). Not sure why it's called a diner?!? In NJ, diner means something completely different.

When you make reservations make sure to request an outside table! We were excited to go to St. Armand's new trendy Americana restaurant to try their take on the classics. The location and layout were great, but the food was average as well as the service. We had the "famous" fried chicken and their pulled pork tacos. Honestly, the fried chicken was flavorful, but it left me wanting something more with regard to the after taste. Their truffle fries are played out; everyone does them and we were hoping on a more imaginative offering. With that being said, it will cater well to the snowbirds and foreign tourists as it is an attractive setting with a nice view as well as some OK food.

I love Shore Diner. It is as casual and relaxing as it is upscale and streamlined. It has it all. Since bar seating was packed despite being middle of the week (see, it that good!), I was seated at small table along the balcony terrace (there are plushy couches on the terrace that looked very cozy I admit, if I was here just to grab couple of drinks... But I was hungry and needed real food!) Glass of crisp Pinot, breeze from the ocean, seating at the table watching lights of St Armand's, I was in heaven already. The whole layout of the diner is open, with retractable roofs that let you see the stars on clear nights, and cool breeze to thank for on warm days. Interior is pretty dark, so reading my Nook was not an option, but music was good, and people-watching made me forget about reading very soon. Now, to the food! Lobster sliders were delish. Packed with big tasty chunks of lobster, I cleaned my plate! Blue crabcake with side of slaw was fantastic. Beet salad with oranges - loved it. (Beets, beets, beets - I love roasted beets) Their vegan dish - cauliflower "steak" is very tasty, altho I wish for smaller chunks of cauliflower. It was yummy no less. Don't forget dessert, of course - pot de crème and coffee - to finish perfect meal. My favorite place to hang out in Sarasota, I'll see you soon, Shore Diner!

One of those places that I have to get the grouper sandwich (when in season) every time. The fries use truffle oil and are addicting. The indoor/outdoor balcony atmosphere is chic and comfortable. I go here every time I visit Lido Key.

I had a wonderful meal here. I ordered the special which featured a blackened Pacific Halibut served on an awesome bacon and wild mushroom rice bed. Everything was fresh and delicious. We started with the crab cake appetizer and it did not disappoint. The atmosphere was very clean and modern, but we felt very comfortable in casual clothes and flip flops. I will recommend to friends that travel here.

We had an excellent experience here. I went with my dad and step-mom who are both in their mid-60s. The atmosphere is really trendy and the design is great but everyone was very friendly. Our waiter was very helpful thought out. We started with the truffle fries but they came out a bit chewy. As soon as we told he waiter, he quickly gave us a new order and they were excellent! For dinner, I had the skirt steak and it was very good. The chimchurri sauce went grace with it. My dad had the shrimp and scallops and he said it was one of the best dishes he's ever had. My stepmom had the meatloaf which I thought was very good also. Definitely had a taste of chili powder. For dessert, we had the apple pie and ice cream and it was very good also. As for cocktails, I had the gun and fizz which was good but it wasn't something I'd have again. Not because of poor quality but because I'm not that big of a fan of ginger. However, I finished with an Old Fashioned made from Knob Creek and it was made very well. I would recommend the Shore to everyone!

This is literally my wife's favorite restaurant but I don't see what the fuss is about. It's okay, but given the price that knocks it down a notch. Great if you are into a special dietary need ala vegan, but the menu is pretty limited feeling of you have an actual appetite.

I have eaten at Shore Diner a few times after finding it on yelp. The name of the restaurant is poorly named as it has no diner feel at all! It's a modern upscale open atmosphere, on the second floor of the St. Armand's Circle above their apparel store Shore. The hostesses and waiters are always helpful and professional. I took my parents here after we landed in Sarasota for our first night out of our vacation. We made a reservation without issue and were seated promptly. The back of the restaurant opens up to the air and is quite impressive. Our waiter took our drink order right away. I had the sangria which was delicious and not too sweet. My dad opted for a mixed drink and my mom opted for her usual Pinot Grigio which arrived to the table quickly. We ordered the Kung Pao Calamari which is an absolute must. Crispy, tender calamari with yummy sweet and sour Kung Pao sauce and shredded cabbage. I could eat it all day long! My dad, who is a calamari lover, absolutely loved the Asian twist! For our entrees I ordered the Local Snapper which tasted fresh and succulent. My mom ordered the snapper special with red quinoa and loved it. My dad had the Key West Shrimp and Scallop which he quickly and happily devoured. Of course, we couldn't get out of there without dessert. We ordered the chocolate cake for 2 and let me tell you, it was certainly meant for 2, or in our case 3! Talk about dense!! It was absolutely incredible but I sincerely doubt that one person could have finished it! The three of us left a few more bites on the plate because we were so full. This place is expensive, our bill was around $200 but it was certainly a special place, with great atmosphere. We couldn't dine there all the time but for a special night out, it's worth it!

Had dinner last night at Shore Diner! Loved the open air dining and ambiance! Our servers were great as they work in teams. They gave great recommendations for entrees! I had their red snapper special and it was divine! The flavors were amazing! Definitely recommend trying this restaurant in St. Armand's Circle!

My husband and I went here this past weekend. The atmosphere and decor are wonderful, service was great and we didn't have to wait long even though they were clearly busy. I ordered the cauliflower steak based on all of the positive reviews here... If you are a meat eater DONT DO IT! Its great for what it is, but I had some of my husband burger and it was much much better. One of the juiciest yummy burgers I've ever had. Don't get me wrong if you're vegan the cauliflower steak would be great.

Had lunch yesterday after hearing so many raves. Atmosphere is great--open air cafe in modern clean style, interesting menu and pleasant servers. I ordered the lobster cob salad which was beautiful to look at and even better to eat. Not a lot of mayo at all but a lot of lobster. My husband and son ordered the turkey and Brie sandwich on whole grain bread. They both enjoyed it. Very generous portions for both. The only drawback was the service. While very pleasant, we had two or three different people taking our order and had to repeat a request for ketchup and also drinks were brought out separately. This was a minor issue and maybe they were just busy. Will definitely give them another try for dinner next tine. Anyone with difficulty with stairs should be aware this is on a second floor with a long staircase.

The roof completely opens up so you can see the sky... very nice touch. The food is a modern twist of some standards. The very best calamari I've ever eaten. Fried chicken injected with hot sauce! It's definitely a unique menu and the location is great. A bit touristy, but that can't be helped when near the beach. Nice strolling after dinner.

Not just a great presentation, which all four were, but the taste buds were treated to spectacular stimulation. (The risotto was particularly special) And, the service from Sardor topped the meal off with perfect attention. We heartily recommend this great spot! !

Had dinner at this restaurant just last night with a party of 5. It was a fantastic experience. We were complaining about the dim lighting in the beginning but then as the sun set they turned on the lights. The food was seriously amazing. I had the Key West shrimp and scallops served with a risotto with a citrus flavor and it was simply delicious. I know my friends enjoyed their steak and the tuna sashimi was also exquisite. The wait staff was friendly and helpful. The ambience was hopping. We felt like it was the most happening place on St. Armands, and it was a Wednesday night. Definitely will be going back soon!

Great restaurant in the middle of st Armand's circle. One level off the street so you are out of the way of all the people walking by but close enough to still feel connected to the vibe. Ultra modern feel with a hip decor. Would be just as comfortable in south beach as it is in the circle. We ate at the bar and service was great. Eclectic menu options offering a multitude of choices. I went with the lobster LBGT sandwich. My friend had the crab cake Benedict. Both wonderful. Some guys next to us had steak and eggs and although I would typically never even think about steak n eggs for breakfast, it looked so good!! I had an awesome Bloody Mary to top off my brunch. If you find yourself in st Armand's circle, I'd highly recommend a visit to shore diner

The Shore Diner is updated comfort food in a high energy setting. On a warm evening in Sarasota, the restaurant is very open and welcoming. The second floor location gives it some nice separation from the often busy sidewalks below. I was visiting from San Francisco where there are more restaurants per capita than any other city in the US. The Shore Diner could hold it's own in San Francisco.

Can't believe all the five stars this place got. I just went and I'll tell you no way. The calamari was OK, the service was slow. She had too many tables to take care of, and kale salad, I've had better. My main entrée was very bland and pasta was not home made. We definitely will keep trying other places. I will say our server was nice and the store was clean.

I eat lunch on St Armand's at least weekly but typically more and year round. Occasionally I go with a tableful to Shore Diner. I find it to be inconsistent, somedays spectacular and others dull and tasteless. But what really frosts me is when the waitstaff explains why a dish is bland as though that justifies it and defends the poor presentation instead of listening to the customer and acknowledging the complaint, apologizing and rectifying. Too bad! There's just so many other excellent dining venues to chance this attitude giving more agita than the off day menu!

I am so happy to have found this place after moving from Atlanta. The atmosphere, customer service, and food are great! We used the back area where the roof retracts for our rehearsal dinner and we love coming in and sitting on the front couches while drinking a craft cocktail. More restaurants like this in Sarasota please!

We went here after reading yelp reviews. We needed a nice place not far from the Van Wetzel before seeing the John Legend concert. When we first walked in I thought it looked great... Trendy and open concept with a covered outside perfect for dinner. Since it was a Sunday at 5pm it wasn't busy. Sadly I wasn't aware of the happy hour and our waitress did not tell us about it either which pissed me off after I found out there was one (we had already ordered). My boyfriend ordered the fried chicken which was delicious and came with Mac & cheese which was ok. I orders the burger medium rare, it came out well done. They immediately rectified it and then brought it under medium rare but I ate it anyways. It was decent. Truffle fries were good. Ambience is great there and I would go back for happy hour (now that I know there is one) but if a restaurant is going to charge $17 for fried chicken and $14 for a small burger it should be outstanding... It was good but not noteworthy I'm afraid.

Lovely restaurant--amazing food--fantastic atmosphere! Elegant without being stuffy--casual without being too casual. We started with their famous Kung Pao calamari--simply delicious, and maybe the best we've ever had. Then, we had the Red Snapper with risotto and the Key West shrimp and scallops--both delicious. The kids menu (for our 9 and 11 year olds) was too kiddie--would love to see a modified menu for older kids who have more refined tastes than chicken fingers and fries. Kids split a $44 steak which was a bit much, but they ate every bite. Brussel sprouts were a bit too smoky for our liking...but overall a lovely experience that we'd highly recommend!!!

Yummy food! Had a dinner for two with just two appetizers because the portion size is huge! We had the mussels and the Kung pao calamari. Definitely get both! We also tried the truffle fries which were good, but I would save my stomach for the more unique items that The Shore has to offer. Great location, nice atmosphere, but most importantly, spectacular food!

  • Doug T.

Wow. I only post when it is worthy (or requires a warning). This is definitely worthy with a casual ambiance perfect for the location. Local organic food with developed favors. Began with the local kale Caesar and Asparagus risotto app. The Caesar was refreshing yet hearty and the asparagus risotto was perfect. For dinner we had cauliflower steak and fried chicken with Mac and cheese . Delicious is an understatement. The chicken was tender and crispy with a nice dipping sauce. The side of Mac n cheese would rival the best we have had. The cauliflower steak was done perfectly and well complimented by the quinoa, curry sauce and port wine reduction. I would not want it any other way. Check it out and get a reservation on the weekend. Awesome ambiance.

IMO Shore has built a success. This investor proves that they have experience. Atmosphere is trendy, modern. Very well decorated with their two "living" plant walls. I loved their food. For lunch: Crab cakes were delicious, as were the tacos, and lobster sandwich. I highly recommend the truffle fries. Service was friendly, did I mention the atmosphere is amazing. Great place for a date. Unfortunately you will not find gluten free selections here, apart from maybe the Brie and turkey They do have high chairs for children.

Great thai curry mussel! Love it! Also had the burger and a latte. I like their buns! I will give their costumer service a 5 star! Very attentive and friendly.

FInally, excellent food at reasonable prices in Sarasota! We dined there once for lunch and once for dinner and, both times, everything was great. For lunch I tried their crab cake salad...this is the salad I would make if I was to put all of my favorite things on one plate. I loved it. It's impressively large, with beautifully fresh ingredients and large, meaty crab cakes. For dinner I split the curried mussels with a friend and had a fish special for my main. Again, terrific from start to finish. I sampled a bite of my husband's fried chicken, and was wowed...I would definitely order this dish on my next visit. Service is very good and the space is beautiful. What's not to love?

Class class class! Well let me first start off with wow! When you first step foot into the shore you feel overwhelmed by the modern feeling of the building and the beautiful layout. The food was also great and our service from Katy was fantastic! So sweet and attentive to our needs. We will definitely be back again!

Loved this place ! Don't let the word 'diner' mislead you as not typical diner Fried chicken: their signature recipe. Love the zingy dipping sauce Scallop special: possibly the best scallops ever Kale salad: incredible Didnt get to try the truffle french fries eveyone was commenting on. Next time.

Oh my, what a great find for a late night meal on the circle in Sarasota. My party of four tried the rib eye, meat loaf, fried chicken, and jambalaya pasta (my choice). We all tried a bit of each other's dishes and every one of us was duly impressed with the flavors. The rib eye was huge, and my daughter who is a waif, chowed down and ate the whole thing. I'm not sure I could have finished it, but she said it was so good she didn't want to miss a bite. My jambalaya pasta was a perfect mix of spicy flavor. Excellent service as well in a cool atmosphere. We were inside, but a nice breeze from the outside found its way to our table. Had the chance to visit again a few months later and had the grouper sandwich at one of the outside tables. Again, excellent flavor and service. Shore Diner will be a definite stop next time I'm in town.

I have been thinking about the Cauliflower Steak for the past year and it was even better than I remembered. The Calamari appetizer is like an Asian slaw - amazing. Halibut with lump crab crust was phenomenal. For dessert we enjoyed the chocolate tart (bonus points for gluten free) and the Key Lime Pie parfait. Shore is probably one of the best eateries Sarasota has to offer.

The venue and atmosphere of this place is awesome! We went on a rainy day and I would probably want to go back just to see how it is on a nice day. There is a retractable ceiling that they open up in nice weather which I think would be so nice. Our waiter was helpful and nice, but could've been a little friendlier. We kept trying to get him to smile a little bit! I had the black bean burger that everyone has raved about and a mimosa. My mother had the fish sandwich which she really enjoyed. I'm a vegetarian, so I've had my fair share of black bean burgers and I honestly was a little underwhelmed by this one. It was definitely fresh and was decently good, I was just expecting a little more. Maybe I set the bar too high! Who knows! It just didn't have the pizazz or flavor I was hoping for. It definitely tasted like black beans... Just a bunch of plain black beans mushed into a patty. The avocado and ketchup served with the fries are the only thing that upped the flavor a little bit. I just would've enjoyed some spice to it. It also kept falling apart... Definitely a messy process and I ended up just using a fork and scooping up the pieces. The best part about my meal were the fries! Yummyyyyyy! I think I would definitely come back here for the drinks and atmosphere. They have a really nice bar area and on a beautiful day, happy hour here would be a treat. I would definitely check this place out if you're in the area.

This restaurant was great. The service was top notch and the food was excellent. I had the shrimp and scallops dish which was really tasty. Only downside was the scallops where not cooked enough for my liking and not rinsed enough (ate a good amount of sand). however the dish was great. My GF had the steak dish and was superb. Their mash potatoes are ridic! Defiantly worth going to!! Side Note: There was a lot of families there, so if your looking for a romantic spot, this might not be the best place as there were kids everywhere.

Visiting Sarasota and my first visit to Shore Diner. Ordered the shrimp and scallop risotto. It was incredible. The scallops were perfectly prepared with professional plating. Service was outstanding. Mahilayo and Meg were prompt and attentive. Overall, a great experience and will be back to try the ribs.

My wife and I very much enjoyed our dinner at Shore Diner. I had the clam and corn chowder and it was excellent. I then took the advice of many yelpers and ordered a lobster slider. That was excellent as well. My wife ordered the ribs and said it was delicious. We then finished it off with a butterscotch creme de pot. it was light and tasty. Service was great. It was our best meal while staying in Sarasota.

My wife & I had a late dinner there last night & it was nothing short of AMAZING!!. The apps were divine ( Yesterday's Soup & the Crab Cake) I had the fried chicken & Mac. My wife had the Shore burger which was cooked perfectly. We were most impressed by the service we received. Our server was AMAZING & very knowledgeable about the menu. Great atmosphere

I was hoping to like this place more than I did. The menu is limited, but choices are sufficient for non-picky eaters. For appetizers we tried the carnitas tacos and the tuna (from the Happy Hour menu- which I had to request because our waitress did not offer the Happy Hour menu). Tacos were fresh, but none of the flavors stood out. Tuna dish was rather unique with kalamata olives, tumeric, and a hard boiled egg- odd combination of ingredients, but a change from the typical tuna dish. I had the fried chicken with the mac and cheese. Mac and cheese had jalapenos in it making it spicy and lacked any type of flavor. It was like eating spicy plain noodles. The chicken was dipped in a honey, hot sauce making the chicken a tad too spicy for me. The waitress wasn't horrendous, but messed up our beer order, did not offer a happy hour menu, and told us the wrong specials. Definitely a cool atmosphere on St. Armands, though. Outside seating is limited with only having about 6 or so tables. After leaving, I remember why I rarely eat on St. Armands- Overpriced, mediocre food. Would much rather eat downtown.

I haven't been to every restaurant in Sarasota but I only need to go to the Fish Camp to know it's by far the best restaurant in the area. The live southern bluegrass is killer! Get the lobster roll, scallops, and EVERYTHING ELSE on the menu!!!! Next time I'm in the area I'll be back multiple times. Shout out to Taryn, thanks for the great service!!!

I've been here many times and never have been disappointed in my meals. Shore Diner has a great menu, organic and fresh ingredients and definitely caters to all walks of life especially vegans/vegetarians. The place looks gorgeous and you can tell it was professional designed. Cushioned benches line the back room with real plants in the back drop, modern artwork, fixtures, furniture everywhere with the quintessential beach theme. It's just a very pretty restaurant. This place has great prices ranging from 5$ upwards, tons of menu items and a lot of them vegan. I love their truffle fries, black bean burger, grow garden platter, cauliflower plate. It's just a great health friendly restaurant. Great services, great decor, reasonable prices, great food. Could not ask for a better place to eat.

Come for the service and drinks, don't stay for the food. I thought the food was way too saucy. The fish sandwich seemed more like fish soup on a bun. I ended up picking at the fish, and leaving the rest. Service was great though, with the staff being understanding and even removing one of our orders from the bill.

I have visited this restaurant on every visit to Sarasota and have consistently referred all of my friends to check it out - just a nice clean vibe with good food. However, my last experience with them has forever changed my opinion of this business. I came in with 5 friends, the restaurant wasn't busy so we were seated very quickly at one of their beautiful patio hi-tops. Our waitress came over to order drinks and seemed very frustrated with our questions about their juices and beer offerings, I tried to ignore it and give her the benefit of the doubt that perhaps she had just come over from some bad experience at another table or something. Unfortunately her attitude continued throughout the meal...we had to flag her down to ask for water, everytime she came to our table she would reach over one of my friend's plate...inches from her face. To top it off, my husband had gone inside to request a birthday treat be brought out to the birthday girl at the end of the meal - which we were happy to pay for. One of our group ordered cake for themselves and rather than bring out what was asked for in private for the birthday girl as well, our waitress went up to the birthday girl and said, "oh did you still want that cake?" In addition to her sad and lethargic service she ruined the surprise and the experience of the meal. I was completely floored at this point. I calmly went inside and asked to speak to a manager, it took over 5 minutes for them to find her at which point her response was - "oh that's unfortunate, are you sure it was that bad?" I went back to the table furious (though I stayed calm to not further ruin the experience for my friends.) After the check was paid the manager came back and said she felt bad and wanted to help, she offered us a gift certificate that would expire before our next visit to the restaurant. All in all, a terrible experience that I find difficult to fully put in to words. Would have been 1 star review but the place is clean, the food is good (for the area), and 1 star reviews are tough for me to give out.

We came here during a mini vaca and sitting outside during sunset was absolutely amazing. The pink hues were phenomenal and sitting on the patio gave such a great breeze even in august! The cocktails were awesome. And our apps the calamari and mussels were amazing!! My fiancé had the grouper risotto special which was just delish! One of those dishes you keep eating after you're too full to go on. I had the tuna tartar... I've honestly had better. The tuna was very plain. It wasn't my favorite thing we had. Our server was great (i believe his name was sander) he was very attentive. I wasn't a fan of the gin fizz drink and he promptly replaced it with the previous martini I had requested. Overall it was a great experience. The even better part is they take reservations so you don't have to have a crazy wait time! We will definitely be back when were in town for our wedding festivities.

This place was excellent. It exceeded my expectations and I think seeing Jerry Springer eating here helped. I had the lobster sandwich along with the. Truffle fries. The atmosphere was fun and looked it could be casual or a little fancy. The view of the shopping area was fun. When looking for it, be aware it is on a second floor.

Been to Shore Diner a couple of times and all in all not impressed. The food is mediocre and over priced. Their 'homemade' mozzarella is not even worth mentioning. However the jenga ribs are very tasty and is the only portion that seems adequate. The drinks are weak and unoriginal. I will say the service is normally pretty good and they accommodate large parties very well. The outside open rooftop seating is gorgeous on a nice night and creates a romantic atmosphere. Will return to try some other entrees, but with not so high expectations.

I REALLY wanted to like this place. The atmosphere is fantastic and the service was good. But man, the food was so average. Truffle Fries...greasy. Kale Caesar Salad....bland. The Organic Free Range Chicken was actually pretty good, but the Crystal Hot Sauce Honey was not sweet enough (IMO). Chocolate Fudge Cake, large but not memorable. Mojito.....ehhh. So would I go again, maybe. I liked the venue and it might be nice for drinks and apps. Perhaps I just got the wrong dishes, but to go pretty much 0 for 4 in terms of finding something worth returning for doesn't put it high on my list of dinner options in Sarasota.

This is definitely the hot spot in St Armands. The food is surprisingly good for a trendy restaurant. The shrimp and scallop with risotto was great as was the Tuna Watermelon Sashimi. My daughter enjoyed her Kale Caesar with chicken and the even has a kids menu for the little guy. Put this on your must do list for Sarasota.

They take reservations and this made the decision to try Shore Diner an easy one the week before Easter! The service was attentive and the food was very good. Fish was wonderful as was the Cobb Salad. The children split caprese salad with sirloin, and it was perfect for them. We sat on the deck and though a bit loud with traffic, we enjoyed the beautiful evening. We will go back soon!

I have been to Shore for cocktails a few times, but last night was the first time we have eaten there. It was great! The back dining area was a perfect blend of midcentury modern and beach town. Comfortable and just fancy enough to make it feel like a date night spot. The kale salad and carnitas taco starters were fab! We then tried the burger (it's a mixed meat burger of short ribs, deliciousness and other tasty goodness) and the truffle fries were great to share. Our server Casey was great - happy to answer our foodie questions and kept the Gin-Ger Fizzs coming! There were some other great things on the menu we will absolutely be back for!

Where do I start? This place is AHMAZING!!! I am soo glad I met some locals here on my mini vaca to siesta key. First of all the restaraunt decor and ambiance is so gorgeous! Looks and makes you feel like you're in South beach. Okay the food...it is so good I can't stop thinking about it 5 days later back home in orlando. I ordered the cauliflower skirt steak which was the most unique flavorful dish I've ever had in my life. The cauliflower was gorgeously blackened with some quinoa salad under it. There was some type of puree on the side that really made this dish. The flavor was sort of sweet but savory with the cauliflower. My girlfriends were all jealous of my meal after they tried it. Although they were all very happy with their meals which I sampled all too :) The meatloaf is just crazy good and like no meatloaf you've ever had before! My girlfriend ordered it and was also blown away by her meal. The locals I met here got the fried chicken and the kale salad with chicken. Everyone's dishes were amazing and to top it all off we split the truffle fries.. if you don't get these you're missing out on heaven!! I am definitely hitting this place up next time I'm in sarasota!

This place really cannot do their food right. We have visited many times, each time is a let down. Yesterday was the last drop, we wanted a light dinner, so we went for the beet salad with goat cheese, the greens were wilted, old, yellow, the beets tasted like they were fermented, the carnitas tacos were horrible, mushy, no flavor, Chipotle serves better tasting fare. We also had the misfortune of getting the Brussels sprouts, these were tough and also tasteless. It is sad that the only edible thing are the fries, anyone can do these. The restaurant is so nicely done decor-wise, the drinks are great What's with the mediocre food?

This restaurant is so pretty. The food and service were really outstanding. My husband had the black beak burger and I had the crab cakes. Both delicious. I would definitely return if in the area and would give two thumbs up for anyone wanting to try a new restaurant. It's truly a gorgeous place.

Nice ambiance for a "diner" Good looking menu. Had the carnitas tacos with avocado and picked onions. Very good flavor combo. Was on the shared/starter menu but was enough for a moderately hungry girl. Wine list is ok, not awesome. Service was great and friendly. Great dining option in St. Armands...

The food is awesome, tuna tartare amazing, ribs YUMMO, fried chicken great! Shore cocktail amazing! However our server greeted us by throwing coasters on the table and asking "can I get you some drinks". No introduction, welcome or name? Was a little weird, then we asked hostess who was setting up a table to take our picture, she'd just kept on setting up the table and never came back. Disappointing as we like to drive down longboat key and come here for drinks and food ... We've had great service before this time. All in all, great food and atmosphere :)

It was a cool, misty night in Sarasota, so what better place to go and walk around than St. Armands Circle? As my lover and I were strolling hand in hand, we stumbled upon the Shore Diner, and after perusing a menu, we decided to give it a whirl. We were seated at a booth that was neither too firm nor too soft. Just right. Our server, who was quite chipper and cheery, promptly took our drink orders, and I opted for the cheapest pinot grigio on the menu, as I anticipated ordering something from the sea for dinner. For drink enthusiasts, they do have some specialty cocktails which seemed quite intriguing. Our server was eager to share the unique architecture that Shore boasts. Outdoor areas, retractable roofs, and a 3rd level being added for a rooftop bar. Fancy Fancy. There was quite the mix of patrons....many young, many old, and many in-between. We decided to split a green salad to start, and it was ok. It was a mix of local organic greens, arugula, etc. For our main entrees, I chose the Key West Shrimp & Scallop which was served with a lemon risotto. It was very delicious. My lover ordered the sliced tenderloin which was served with mashed potatoes and asparagus. He cleared his plate, and liked it, but I don't feel like it was memorable. Overall, we had a nice dinner. However, this place is not cheap. For our two meals, one salad, two glasses of wine and a soda, we paid $100 after tip for our dinner. Location comes with a price! I would probably come here again, but maybe for lunch instead, or even just drinks. If I am going to spend that kind of money on dinner, I would want a more romantic, intimate atmosphere. But that's just me!

We dined here one evening. Nice atmosphere, seated right away with our reservation. Waiter was friendly. Disappointed in the gluten-free veggie options. Tried the grilled cauliflower with quinoa. Not flavorful at all (sauce on side was mayo and fig I think = ick) and way too expensive for my meal ($17). Major rip-off. I eyed the portabello mushroom sandwich and truffle fries my husband ordered (not gluten-free which was disappointing) and left feeling ripped-off and unsatisfied. Was really wanting to like this place. They need to work on their gfree/veg menu offerings.

Wanted to eat lunch at Shore today. Menu looked great. But right after we were seated, we realized conversation was going to be frustrating - as music was too loud. So we left.

Yum! Get the fries here they are so good. I didn't try it but my brother loved the tacos. The service was alright they seem to only hire really good looking people! My sister is allergic to eggs and they had a yummy vegan apple tart dessert she enjoyed. Side note: come here for lunch for a deal. Dinner was a little pricey.

My wife and I tried this place twice on our most recent trip to Lido beach. Overall, it was really great. We loved almost everything we tried. The Kung Pao calimari was the best thing I've had in months. Truly awesome. The truffle fries were also really outstanding. Lobster slider was only okay. I had an entree with shrimp and scallops that was strong as well (though the server seemed really put out to ask the kitchen to remove the shrimp tails--who on earth would ever want to fish around in their entree and try to get the tails off their shrimp?!?). I realize that's a common occurrence in a restaurant, but I have no idea why, or why any server would even hesitate to accommodate such an obvious and necessary request. The only other down sides are mixed service and really high prices. Their prices are probably not out of line for this area, but they are still about $10/entree too high.

Had lunch at Shore a few days ago. Nice service. Try their salad with calamari. Omg!! Delish. Great place to chill at the bar and get a few apps. Whenever I visit Sarasota I ALWAYS find time to go there. Plus shopping at st. Armans circle is a definite must.

  • Tiffany B.

I thought the appetizers and entrees would be small but I was pleasantly surprised at the size. The truffle fries are wonderful and worth the price for a full order. The turkey and Brie sandwich was stuffed full of turkey. They definitely don't skimp. I also tried the ruby red martini which was refreshing and delicious. Overall it was a great place to check out if you are in the town center.

Made reservations. Once we arrived we were seated at a half a table - sandwiched in between two other full tables - servers elbowing my husbands back to get past and this was all before our drink orders even arrived (15 minutes- no drink). We got up and left. Looked pretty pretentious and overpriced to us.

One of our favorite stops in St. Armand's Circle. Very modern atmosphere and hip menu. Went on a Sunday for brunch. The eggs Benedict is a must and be sure to order a Bloody Mary. Unlike anything you've ever tried!!! Is a little pricey but worth every $$.

Great service and a great atmosphere. Really enjoyed the smoked fish paste! Had the shrimp & scallop risotto for dinner and was lovely. Crab cakes were sub par. Truffle fries are awesome!!! Brussels sprouts dry and not so good. Red snapper my friend had and she loved it.

Shore has a very cool and eclectic atmosphere. I personally enjoyed my meal of the huevos rancheros burrito. However, a few members of my party ordered the burger and were not big fans. Overall though, it was a nice experience.

Really great food with a homemade flair. Had the meatloaf, it was excellent. Wife had the grouper special....WOW! Great service.....in and out in an hour! But did not feel rushed. The only down side was the margarita. Just tasted different! Will return for sure!

The decor and ambiance alone deserve four stars. It's not your typical Sarasota restaurant; reminded me more of California or somewhere more urban. Walk up from the Shore store to a beautiful living wall of green to an open and contemporary dining area indoor or out. Staff is attentive and crowd is mixed ages. The food is unique as well as the drinks offered. I've had the pork belly every time b/c it's pretty amazing. The first time was the best meal I've had in Sarasota. The second time it was off. The top had an ashy crust and the sauce was more watery with less flavor and thickness. I'm hoping it was an off night and I can enjoy a perfect meal again. Overall, it's one of my favorite restaurants in the area now and I will be back.

This place was good, although lucky to get four stars. I'm going to get the bad out of the way. The nice toasted bread with herb butter came as we were finishing out entrees. Seriously? Also, I think the waiter could have kept a better eye on our water levels slightly better. What we ordered: Started with the beet salad and the tacos. Excellent choices. The beet salad was scrumptious. The tacos were big, flavorful, and not shy with the meat. For mains, we had the fish (grouper, I think), burger, and the fried chicken (the waiter let us switch out mac and cheese for the vegetable of the day, bok choy). The portions were big. The burger was cooked just how I asked for it. The truffle fries didn't taste of much, so I asked them to add more truffle oil, and they did. They were fine, nothing to write home about. The burger is so big with all the bun that its a bit too much of a mouthful. They said it was grass fed - points. I wouldn't order it again. The fried chicken was fantastic. So tasty! The fish was a big portion over great vegetables. We didn't have room for dessert, although I'm confident we will be back sometime. The decor and ambiance was absolute top notch, Plenty of seating on a Saturday night at 6:30pm.

Right near the top of my list. The shore burger was delicious, but the truffle fries were addictive! My girlfriend had the growing garden dinner, which consisted of quite a few wonderfully displayed vegetables. She loved it! Service was awesome. Atmosphere was infectious, with a retractable roof in the garden seating room, spectacular wood mixed with modern decor and the outdoor lounge with misting spray is perfect with a cool drink on a hot Florida afternoon! Well done!!

As a vegan it's hard to find food when you eat out in many restaurants in most towns. I found out about Shore Diner on vegsarasota.com when I was planning my trip for the holidays. I tried it out on a Thursday afternoon. Server was friendly and fast. Vegan items are clearly marked (no emitting ingredients from vegetarian items!). I got the Portobello &Black Bean Burger. So good! It's got a chipotle vegenaise (!), perfectly ripe avocado and some corn and tomato stuff. I subbed fries for the salad. (For vegans out there- I forgot to ask if the fries are truly vegan, they kinda tasted like they might be fried with their seafood) The peach iced tea cocktail I had was good but I wouldn't pay $10 for it again unless it increased to pint size. I look forward to going one more time to try out the other vegan option.

I liked it. Fried chicken - how good does fried chicken get? I've had better than here but it was good - In my opinion its an overrated dish in general (everywhere) Scallop and shrimp risotto was very good - as was the citrus flavored kale/avocado salad. Had a "white sangria" - had a nice flavor to it as well - almost like lychee. nice Atmosphere and Location, will be back

One of my new favorite places to eat in Sarasota! Cool, laid back, mod atmosphere too with retractable roof in dining room! We had the mussels to start; OUTSTANDING! I had the shrimp & scallop with risotto which was delicious w fresh shrimp. Their truffle Parmesan fries r really crisp & tasty too. Great cocktails, good music. We'll be back!

We love coming to Shore when we are frequently in Sarasota. If you are young and want something a bit more interesting than the early bird special crowd that otherwise makes up this city, come here! The setting is fantastic - they built it out from the studs, with an amazing open midcentury and beach vibe. We always sit on the lanai under the misters, which has a fantastic vibe and great views of the Circle. Food is very good. Very innovative, light and fresh. Excellent vegetarian and vegan options. And waitstaff is always kind and attentive. We regularly bring our two year old for an early lunch or early dinner, and they have a great kids menu. Also a good selection of drinks and cocktails for mom and dad. All in all, this is an excellent option in Sarasota.

Shore's clean lines and open layout make for a delightful dining experience. And while Shore Diner is quickly earning a reputation among locals and tourists alike as the place to see and be scene [sic] on St. Armands, it's laid-back retro so-cal vibe keeps it low-key enough to be the place you just stop by for a drink... I typically gravitate towards their mai tai (a real one) and their ahi appetizer. Both items are fantastic. (If you visit on a lovely evening, they retract the roof so you can enjoy Shore under swaying palms. )

This place hit on all cylinders! The location on St Armand Circle! Hipster upbeat, beautiful decor and beautiful people. Mussels, Sliders, Tacos all well done, great presentation, tasted great! Craft beer selection was awesome! Shrimp, Scallop Risotto was the best I've ever had. Presentation again was great! The service was really good, our server made some great recommendations that we all took advantage of!

The calamari appetizer was spicy and perfectly put together. The cauliflower and crab bisque was great! The snapper was delicious withe tasty spinach and cooked just right. My daughter loved the ribs. The shrimp and scallops were great. Cooked just right. The lime sauce was a little bitter. The wines list is good and the Sauvignon blanc was great with the fish. The service was good, but a bit slow in keeping drinks filled. Overall we want to go back and try the great sounding chocolate cake.

Hands down--best food here in St.Armands. Not a huge selection of entrees, but the food is fresh and local. To die for! As an appetizer, I had the fish spread. Entree was the cauliflower steak (which is vegan). From the food to the service to the atmosphere, it is phenomenal. I would definitely come here again.

Great new modern place in the circle. The Jenga ribs were tasty, juicy and fell off the bone. Great flavor in every bite of the perfectly cooked shore burger. Trendy with the kale Ceasar and truffle fries. Kids meal are healthy and not the same old tired chicken fingers. will be back.

So my wife and I have vacationed in the area for years. We were thrilled to try the Shore restaurant! Love the atmosphere, food is very tasty, and the servers were very attentive. Food 5, location 5, and menu 5. Job well done, a must try. Brought our two yr old daughter, she approves too!

Table service slow we moved to bar and had a great experience. Starter salad was delicious. Fish sandwich was pretty good. Splitting these two made for the perfect lunch for a couple. Great ambience. One of the best options on the circle. Would return.

Upstairs venue, open, lively but not noisy, had 2 excellent dinners. The kale Caesar Salad was unexpectedly delicious. Kale covered with maybe a Parmesan/bacon dressing, avocado and pumpkin seeds, great mixture of tastes & textures, chewy more than Romaine crunch, hearty but not heavy. Ordered it both days. Chimichuri (sp?) nice. 2nd dinner just had the taco "appetizer": two large tasty pork filled tacos--a meal, not an appetizer. Then mussels (very nice) and Brussel sprouts (with onion & bacon--can't miss) and the Ceasar. Plenty if food for 2. Lobster slider also good, small, but packed with lobster. Nice friendly service. Meyer lemon dessert lovely as was butterscotch pot de Creme (light, delicate, not sticky). Delicious.

Early dinner on Sunday evening off season, pleasantly slow. Seated immediately, in the area that was coolest as the front is open air, July in Sarasota hot and humid. Rachel our server was top notch, friendly efficient and knew her menu. Drinks were good with a stout pour. Both entrees were well prepared, presented excellently and very tasty. Will eat here again.

So excited to have this restaurant close by when I visit Sarasota. The food is delicious and the nod to mid-century modern decor is perfect for St. Armand's and Sarasota architecture. I came for dinner and lunch and hope to make it back for their famous brunch on my next visit. The avocado and sushi grade tuna appetizer was as fresh as it gets. We also ordered calamari and a friend in the group who never eats calamari fell in love. A fresh kale salad was shared by the table and again when we returned for lunch. For our main meals we had the fried chicken, which was crispy on the outside and juicy but not greasy inside (always the sign of great friend chicken), and the cauliflower steak with quinoa which was my favorite. Looking forward to my next visit!

My husband and I visited my parents this past weekend in Sarasota and they were very excited to take us to Shore. It was pouring down rain and they were weary to g o out since they said Shore is best when it's nice out and they can keep the retractable roof open, but we decided to go anyway. We made reservations for Saturday night, but they wouldn't have been needed as I think the rain kept most people away and it wasn't packed. We were seated immediately and were pleased to see the variety of beers that they had and that the prices were pretty decent ($4 for a Stella, can't beat that!). I had read from fellow Yelpers that the Fried Chicken was the best, so that's what I ordered. My father and husband also ordered the fried chicken and my step mother ordered the vine tomatoes and lobster sliders. Our food came out by the time we finished our first drinks (very fast!) and all was delicious. We expected the chicken to be a bit spicier, but it still had a very good flavor. Will definitely have to return when we are back in town again!

Had a very friendly server named Sarah. All her recs were spot on. Tuna tartare was a good serving and had tasty homemade chips. Out entrees were very good (snapper & key west shrimp). Very cool place to eat. Don't forget to shop downstairs!

Presentation was great and service was great. The linguine lacked flavor but the tuna was very good. Nice atmosphere.
