Stopped here for Christmas Eve dinner on our way up I-75 to visit family. What a find! Our family of 5 loved the food!

Everything here is quite good. Think it's pathetic a reviewer says they have the best hot tea ever??!!?? Whatever, the owner is sometimes in the kitchen cooking which can slow down the front of the house service and they do a huge amount of takeout so that can slow things down too! It's a small place about 12 booths and 3 tables.

The best Chinese food outside of China town. Always a great meal no matter what I order. The Hong Kong wonton soup is amazing also a great cure for a hangover.

Awesome Chinese food! My husband and I just ate here for dinner and everything was delicious. This will be our new go to spot for Chinese food. I also want to mention that the service was very good. Everyone was extremely nice, and you can tell there are a lot of regulars that come in there. To me, that's always a good sign. We highly recommend this place.

We stop here a few times each year mainly because it's an "old style" family run Chinese Restaurant that's been at this location for many years. The food is generally good and prices reasonable. As usual we started with their Shangri-La Stuffed Chicken Wings, something we've never really had elsewhere. It's a whole wing with a chopped shrimp based stuffing in the drummette area of the wing. Served fried crispy, an order includes five wings for $6.25. They are really very good and fun eating. This appetizer does take a while to prepare (15 minutes, give or take) so we order them as soon as we arrive. On this trip we didn't have soup but their Won-Ton, Egg Drop and Hot & Sour all have good body and nice amounts of the proper ingredients. My wife ordered the old standby Pork Egg Foo Young ($6.95). The three pancakes were chocked full of perfectly trimmed pork and other ingredients. However, we both felt the gravy was far too thick and did have an uncooked flour (cornstarch?) flavor. Kind of an unforgivable error and costs them a star. I had their Shredded Pork with Peking Sauce. Pork and shredded cabbage ($8.25) in a spicy brown sauce. It's offered mild, medium or hot. Nothing to write home about but very tasty and a nice sized portion. I enjoyed it and would have it again when I have one of those "what am I going to have" moments. They have a limited amount of domestic and imported beers. Sapporo was very good with this food but a little pricey at $3.95 each. Not surprisingly all dinners include white rice and the table is served crispy noodles. Fortune cookies are presented with the check. Why go here? Friendly family staff, prompt service, consistently good - not great - food, reasonable prices and a nice neighborhood place.

The food from this restaurant is outstanding, extraordinary! The menu has all the grey choices and I could live in their take outs. Service is very good and always friendly. We usually have leftovers for a second meal. The Customer Service is very helpful in describing menu choices.

We had a Saturday lunch - prices were good and the food was excellent. Had egg drop soup, a medium spicy chicken dish and a medium spicy beef dish. Also, 4 egg rolls which were yummy. We live about 40 miles away, but will soon be making another trip to this place. I want to try everything on their menue. There are about 15 tables to eat in, soft lighting, a great little spot.

Best Chinese Food I have ever had. I come to the area each week for business and eating at this restaurant is one of the things I look forward to most. The owner is super friendly and her kitchen knows how to cook. Order the Hot and Sour soup and anything Five Spiced, you won't be disappointed, unless you are a wimp that can't handle the Five Spice. In that case, you should go get Panda Express at the mall. They also have the best fortune cookies around. Go here...NOW!

The food here was pretty good, considering the options available in Sarasota. This is my go-to place for Chinese good, but if there were more authentic Chinese food options, I would go there first. While the food was pretty good, I found that some of the food was a bit greasy. If there was less grease, it would taste a lot better.

Shangri-La has good Chinese food. We were there for lunch, and their lunch special had great prices and great variety! I had the pork egg foo young, and it was very tasty. The egg drop soup was also good. The facilities are very clean too, which is always a plus in my book. I will be back!

My family has been eating here for 11 years. I can still remember their kids being little girls/boys that are now in high school. The food here is made from scratch. They make their broth for the wonton soup from chicken bones/meat. The hot and sour soup is my favorite! You will not find better hot and sour/wonton soup in Sarasota (imo). The owner is very proud in making her food from scratch and not using msg (which is "cheating" according to her). My favorite dish is the cabbage stir fry. It's one of the specials that's not on the menu. However, you can always order it because she always has cabbage in the back. Great prices. Her family is friendly, good sense of humor, and on the ball. Good for families on a budget or just looking for good Chinese food.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
