Fresh seafood, cooked to order chicken breast dishes. It's a little more expensive than other take-out Chinese but it is totally worth the step up in quality. Their egg rolls are really crispy and delicious too! They have real duck sauce too, no packages.

The best Chinese takeout place in Sarasota, hands down. They're super busy (which is clearly a good thing) so food may take a little while, but it's worth the wait! Ingredients are fresh and flavors are delicious. Will never go anywhere else for my Chinese takeout :)

Terrible. The worst Chinese food I've had in Sarasota. Spicy tofu combo was not spicy, sauce was overly sweet and watery. Tofu was completely flavorless. To make matters worse it seemed like I also may have gotten over charged. The combo with no rice and extra vegetables cost me 14.42 at lunch. Combo was supposed to include an egg roll, but that was extra on the bill. When I asked if that was correct, they made some excuse and said that's how it is. I normally don't leave bad reviews very often but this place was simply gross... I could have eaten 10x better food from Pings around the corner for $6.75 with better portions. Go to Yummy House, Moon Wok, or even Pings for a much better meal.

Ordered here for the first time the other day... Extremely convenient location and the staff member who helped us was very kind, knowledgable and funny. The food was not good. We ordered chicken and veggies w fried rice. The spring rolls were great--everything else was blah.

Best Chinese food EVER. Plus the guy working there is super cool and helpful for Take Out. I think they do *not* use MSG, which is fantastic. So I'm visiting my mom from NY City. Until eating at the Rice Box, I thought Flushing Queens was home to the best Chinese food. But Sarasota is where it's at and my whole family agrees. We like *Spicy* here is our order using the 5 Star rating for each dish: 1) Ma La + Beef = 5 STARS If you like spicy, tongue-tingling Sezchawan style, GET THIS. Ma La with Beef is enlightening. Amazing. 2) Thai Curry + Chicken = 5 STARS Also spicy. This Thai dish features the coconut milk and patented white curry blend + visible spices. LOVE. 3) Szechuan Garlic + Chicken = 5 STARS There are *grill marks* on the chicken, which means Rice Box takes Chinese food preparation to a whole new level. Flavors pop. 4) Eggplant + Tofu = 4 STARS This is among the best Eggplant we've had, however, our mom was the only one who actually likes eggplant. Our least favorite dish in general, but our mom wanted a vegetable... I've gone back since. LOVE.

Sadly, we can't recommend. The Mongolian Beef and Mu Shu pork were just average or even below par: the Mu Shu pork, though generous in size, was just not tasty, and they added on a charge for plum sauce. I thought plum sauce was part of this dish? As for the Mongolian Beef, it came with very small bits of beef and tasteless vegetables in a water brown sauce. All in all not appealing even to the very hungry! After several tries, we will not return.

I'm not a fan of greasy Chinese takeout, so this is the best you can get in town. It's not great dining, it's Chinese take out. You are getting what you ask for, but as far as when I am in the mood for Chinese food, this is the place I'll pick over anywhere else. Clean storefront, fresh food, fast delivery.

Awesome stuff. 4 of us ordered over 50 dollars worth of food and everything was great.

We have been ordering from rice box for years. The food is great, vegetables are fresh, and service is exceptional. I suspect some complaints may be meant for other restaurants because the descriptions/pricing do not seem to match up with this restaurant. I can only remember one time when my order was incorrect and they redelivered a corrected order at no cost. This is a great local family owned restaurant and I highly recommend.

We ordered the family meal deal (for delivery)--then gasped when we saw it would take up to an hour to be delivered. It was one of those family nights when everyone was so hungry we could have eaten our hands off. While distracting the kids, a knock came on the door. Delivery in about 20 minutes! The food was steaming hot. Veggies crisp. Heat factor actually correctly about "medium" as specified. You can still go three more notches up on the heat scale. I bet the top is a scorcher--and I'm no wimp when it comes to hot food. Good flavors all around. Love the 1/2 and 1/2 wonton and egg drop soup. The surprise extras that get thrown into delivery items were fun too. For dessert we ordered almond cookies. They may not be homemade, but these were special. Yum with a cup of the oolong tea at the end of the meal--tea bags included as one of the extras! Kids loved it all and asked why we don't get Chinese more often. The whole spread, a "feast" according to my daughter, cost us around $30.What a deal. We will definitely order again, and my husband and I will enjoy the leftovers for lunch tomorrow. Whoo-Hoo. Score for budget yumminess.

Terrible terrible terrible! Ordered delivery. Took over 45 mins to get to me. Food was cold and on top of it they didn't have my complete order but I was still charged for it. They took another hour to bring the food they forgot. I strongly would suggest to avoid this place!

Had high hopes for this one. Actually, the first time was pretty good. Then after several other attempts, I gave up. No particular dish stands out. All dishes were not up to par. Still waiting for that "go-to" Chinese Restaurant...

Great service. Easy online ordering. I ordered online one Sunday a few hours before they were opened and they called me to see if I wanted them to make it then. The food is always good, love the veggie pad tai and the egg rolls. I usually make it a point to order here when ever I'm in town.

Not only did i stumble across a Chinese takeout restaurant but one with a twist to their menu as well. Once i saw that curry was available I immediately picked up the phone! The order taker took time to answer questions about a couple of dishes I had interest in, the delivery time was estimated at 45-60 mins on a Friday night, but showed up a little beforehand. Plenty of extra sauces were included although not all used. Food was delicious and spicy just how I ordered. Have their website locked into my phone for easy access, as this is my new go to spot for delivery food! Goodbye pizza...well...not forever

They overcharged me and then argued with me? Food is bland! And Chow is not the nice guy he appears to be! I will never order from there again!!!

Bad quality of food and over charged. Ordered Singapore noodle, is the worst I've ever had. Not worth it...

Love it. Twice ordered for pickup. Both times we were very happy. I think the trick is you want this type of food fresh off the pan. Because one time we ordered delivery it was ok. Since we started picking up it has been fantastic. The people here are very nice. Even the ones that pop their heads out of the kitchen greet you with a friendly smile. We really like it and will be back many times.

Great Chinese fried rice finally with more than just pork and egg. The 3-Meat Fried Rice is superb with pork, chicken, and shrimp, plus onions, egg, carrotsand we added the Snow Peas and that just elevated it. The small portion for $6.99 is nicely packed with plenty for 3. The appetizer ribs, small portion is 4 ribs and my husband was licking his fingers! The Beef Teriyaki Skewers was juicy pieces of flank steak perfectly marinated in the teriyaki sauce. They were delicious and not salty which I loved. When you order online and spend more than $25.00, you get to pick free items to add to your order. We chose the Wonton Soup and are looking forward to enjoying that tomorrow for lunch. Check the deals section to pick your free item. Love that the online menu actually tells you what they put in the dishes. So if you prefer dark chicken, or white meat, you can pick the appropriate dish to please your pallet. There was plenty of food for both of us and it was great. Also good to note the details of your takeout entree containers are individually wrapped in plastic to preserve the heat and prevent the spills of the delicious sauces that come with your meals. LOVE IT!! Great takeout and wish it was a dining restaurant.

I wish this was a restaurant rather than carry out. The food prepared here should be eaten immediately. Even driving a short distance diminishes the quality that this little storefront works so successfully to achieve. The egg rolls are large, generous and delicious. Just driving past makes us want to stop in to get an order! We moved to The Meadows last year but we have lived in Sarasota for 13 years. The carry out Asian food that is served here is the best we have tasted anywhere in Sarasota. And I'm covering an area from Clark Rd to University! All the ingredients are fresh. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. I've read some of the complaints and I have to say I think they are bogus. The family members who own and operate this place are so friendly and accommodating that I don't believe the reviews are legitimate. If you have a craving for flavorful, fresh, made to order and delicious Asian carry out- and live near Honore and Fruitville then you need to try Rice Box. BTW, they have summer hours so call to make sure they are open if you plan to just drop in to appease your cravings.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.
