It is for good reason that Patrick's has survived decades of competition in Sarasota. I'm not a burger expert, but Patricks grills up some tasty red meat. I think it ranks among the top three burgers in town. I'm a sucker for the cowboy burger. And I appreciate that when I order it medium rare, they never overcook it. One of the things I appreciate about Patrick's is that they also offer some delicious vegetarian options, including one of the very best blackbean burgers that my wife has ever tasted. In addition, there are plenty of tasty seafood options to choose from. They offer a full bar with good selections a beer and wine. We've come here for both lunch and dinner on a regular basis ever since they moved to their new location on Main Street and have yet to be disappointed. The service has always been good. It can be quite cold in the restaurant, and sometimes a little noisy. My only other minor complaint is that the server who brought our meal to the table last time, a young man that did not take our order, mixed up our plates and didn't know how to handle a request. Oh, and our server mixed up our bill with another table. But those are minor issues and overall I enjoy this restaurant thoroughly.

Eggs Benedict and steak & eggs was delicious - the customer service is something that could be improved on.

I've only been here during happy hour. The environment is nice, but this place is very noisy. I always get the Pan Seared Ahi Tuna and Sangria. I've ordered the Fish Tacos and 1481 Nachos before but didn't care for them; they weren't anything spectacular. The staff is always friendly and attentive.

Very reasonable priced restaurant with a causal atmosphere on Main Street. The food was absolutely delicious! We ordered stacked onion rings, mandarin chicken salad, and a ceviche salad. We also ordered sangria, which complemented our food well. The only downside to the restaurant was that there were about 30 dirty glasses stacked on top of each other in the middle of the bar the entire time we were there. It was gross and should have been placed behind the bar. However, the food and service was very quick and delightful!

Patrick's is one of my favorite places to go on Main St. The atmosphere is wonderful because they have lots of room. The tables are comfortable and not crammed too close together. The menu is diverse and I've loved everything I've ever ordered there. The prices are good too.

This place is AWESOME. My boyfriend and I were in the area on vacation, and we were looking for a spot to grab dinner at after doing a catamaran boat ride. We walked over to one bar on this street that was totally empty (we saw that as a bad sign), and this was a couple blocks down, so we randomly picked this place. This place was totally packed, and we weren't sure why at first..until we realized that it was week night and we were there during happy hour time. We somehow managed to grad to seats at the very end of the bar. It was a tight fit, but it worked for us. We ordered off the happy hour menu--got a couple flatbreads, quesadilla, etc and just split them between us. Everything was super good, and even the wine that was on the happy hour menu was decent. Lastly, our bartender (I think her name was Jen) was AWESOME. She was a super cute Kelly Rippa look alike that had a lot of fun with us. She opened up a brand new bottle of wine, poured a glass for the older woman that was sitting next to my boyfriend, and then this lady complained she could tell the wine had been sitting out and it tasted bad. Uhhhh, what?! The bartender handled this high maintenance customer very well and professionally--not only that, but with how packed this place was, she handled the bar and volume of drinks she needed to bust out really well too. If I lived or worked in the area, this would totally be a regular spot for me.

Awesome happy hour specials! $3.95 drinks, food specials, $5 burgers! Got mine bunless, with salad instead of fries, so slightly healthier & gluten free! Big glasses of sangria were very refreshing. Our server, heather was also great- friendly, attentive & engaged in conversation when we told her we were thinking of moving to Florida, and asked about her preferences & experiences. Love sitting outside & people & lizard watching.

We ordered the Maine lobster roll. $15-, not expecting a good amount of lobster. The portion was the most I have seen on a roll and it came with fries or cole slaw. It was delicious and the place was almost full for lunch.

My boyfriend and I stopped in for lunch while in Sarasota visiting my parents and the place was packed, so we asked if we could sit at the bar. They were happy to have us there and we had a terrific bartender, Twee, who took GREAT care of us! While we were there, we met three regulars who ate and drank at Patrick's regularly. All were transplants (one from Maine, one from Boston and one from England) and we got some great recommendations about the area and about Patrick's in particular. My boyfriend enjoyed the steak tips and fries with a wonderful caesar salad. I opted for the very large 1481 Salad with juicy grilled chicken, fresh strawberries and grapes, dried cranberries and goat cheese...YUM! Seems like a great place to hang out and the food, the service and the prices are quite good.

Seriously noisy and dark. Probably good for drinks. Went for a burger and waited over 40 minutes and it never arrived. The restaurant wasn't even full. Definitely off my list of places to eat at in Sarasota.

Heard so many great things and was completely underwhelmed. Everyone says "best burger in town" and I had wished for it to be true. Mine was painfully over cooked and my wife's food was dangerously undercooked. Chef with bi-polar? Unfortunately first impressions last.

My fiancé and I stopped in on a Sunday afternoon. We sat outside and the weather was incredible. Our server was very friendly and punctual and our food came as ordered. I got a Bloody Mary, which was very well made. My fiancé got a salad that she said was awesome and I got a burger. Marketed as the "best burger in Sarasota"...it was not the best I've had, but very good and cooked perfectly. Give this place a try!

My husband I went to Patrick's today for lunch and I had the Lobster Crab cakes with broccoli garlic and olive oil and a quinoa salad which was to die for. My husband had the Pot Roast which is one of his favorites with mashed potatoes and coleslaw. And the bonus was the 50% off our entire bill because it was our Anniversary ! Thank you Patrick's for that generous certificate! We really enjoyed ourselves as usual and it pays to be a Club Member. Your food is awesome! We love Patrick's!

This is my second time visiting Patrick's 1481, and I have been completely satisfied both times. The service, atmosphere, and food get 2 thumbs up. In the middle of Main Street, downtown Sarasota, this place offers the complete package. I would strongly recommend it, and asked for Jesse as your server.

While everyone raves about their burgers I've tried them twice now and found them to be rather bland at best. I wouldn't say they're bad but they aren't nearly as good as do many other places around. On top of that the fries were bland and cold and the beer lost wasn't much at all. The service was a bit better than most places around but it just couldn't make up for the mediocre food.

Just an average place on Main St in Sarasota. It was crowded when I visited on a Saturday afternoon, so if you don't like quiet places this is a good place to visit. I sat at the bar and had a couple of Yuengling drafts. They didn't have much else; their draft beer selection was extremely limited. Decided to have something to eat they had a jerk chicken wrap that was not bad. It came kind of lukewarm; I would have liked it to have been a little more warmed up. Service was pretty friendly and efficient at the bar. They also have a nice patio area on the sidewalk. All in all, I think it's a nice place for tourists to stop by and relax with a drink, but for having a nice Mel I would try somewhere else.

A Reasonably priced restaurant on Sarasota's Main Street area with a casually classy decor and good food deserves high marks. Sure there are other places in the downtown Sarasota area with higher end artsy food but if don't feel like paying high prices then this is a great option. Good place for groups and families and even couples (because they have booths). Then menu is varied - something for meat eaters and vegetarians and seafood lovers. There burgers are solid. Well, I had the vegetarian burger - portobello mushroom with goat cheese. Not the best I've ever had but darn good for the price.

Ahi tuna amazingness! $7 for a sizable portion at the bar during happy hour. Met the owner - class act. The bartender was impeccable and such friendly bar folks. Didn't try anything else but the drinks looked amazing!!

Sometimes, reviewing a place is pointless. This may be one of those times. I've eaten at Patrick's twice since they moved across the street from their original location, and both times, I've waited entirely too long to write my review so that I have forgotten the details. Needless to say, both experiences have easily been 3.5 stars, and I'm rounding up because I love the interior ambiance - cozy and classy - and the service has been superb. This time especially, the server was very kind a gracious and didn't give us a dirty look once in spite of sitting down while waiting 10+ minutes for the last member of our party to show up. We split the spinach dip - not the best I've ever had but certainly enjoyable - and then I think I got the blackened chicken sandwich. I know how unhelpful it is when I don't remember what I got, but I do remember really enjoying it. Not sure what Patrick's was like before they moved - I had heard some horror stories, so I never went. But regardless of whether or not they were true, the new location is worth your time. There aren't too many reasonably priced and good places to eat in downtown Sarasota, but this is one of them.

  • Alexandra G.

The location is perfect and the food is great at reasonable prices (cheap on Mondays!). Only the three stars though because it's service is absurdly slow and inattentive. Its a wonderful place to linger over a meal, but don't show up really hungry and don't choose this place if you're in a hurry.

Tasty food, diverse choices. Great warm environment. Shout out to Michael who was friendly and great to talk with as a single diner. Perfect host and waiting skills. I always appreciate professionals.

When a place says they have "the best burger" you set this expectation and then are set up for disappointment. The steak benedict was very good for flavor, but the steak (even ordered medium rare) was thin and tough. The burger my boyfriend had left him unimpressed. The atmosphere is very modern and they serve alcohol. The location is right downtown and convenient for an afternoon stroll.

We have visited Patrick's three times, and each visit has been excellent. The servers are friendly and attentive, food tasty and fast and drinks deliciously strong. A great option in downtown Sarasota!

Went last night for dinner.... Awful, 1st of all when we walked in, it took a few min. for someone (not sure if it was the host or another server) to come over. I felt that we were rushed making our choice of the menu... My husband order a bottle of sparkling water & two glasses, the server brought one to the table ( there were 4 of us). I had to ask her for a glass.. she said ok what for? I said the water!. I asked for a turkey burger, when it came it looked like a hamburger... As she was walking past our table, I said excuse me, is this a turkey burger? she said, yes, I am sure & walked away!!! It was awful!! My husband order the chicken Parm & that tasted like dog food!! Would NEVER go back or recommend to anyone!! Only reason I gave it one star is the location Downtown Sarasota!

Best Caesar Salad anywhere, especially with blackened chicken. And the burgers a right up there. We stop anytime we are downtown. We had the flatbreads, very good.

To be perfectly honest, I like the food here. The service is just deplorable. The management isn't much better. Mattison's is a better choice around the corner. If you want a quieter place, nothing but rave reviews for Selva.

Given so many places on Sarasota's cute main street, you can do better; MOVE ON. SHORT STORY --------------------- * Dining room is cozy but busy and loud * Meager draught beer list * Non-customer-focused "policy" forbidding of side dish substitutions on sandwiches (possibly more) to healthier options * Apathetic manager who has no business working in the hospitality industry LONG STORY -------------------- We walked in hoping to enjoy a nice late lunch. The atmosphere in the dining room is cozy but busy and loud. The menu isn't small, but I was disappointed in the meager draught beer selection. Then, "average" turned to "mediocre". My friend asked if, with her turkey burger, she could substitute vegetables (seems reasonable, right?) for the only two offered sides: fries and cole slaw. After having to check with the manager, our server said "nope, sorry". Actually, it was more like substitutions were permitted only with the more-expensive entrées. Not being overly hungry, we decided to patronize a less pretentious establishment, but I did want to let the manager know why we were leaving. Frankly, she fit right in: pompous and apathetic. She offered no apology but rather, only an excuse: "this is our policy and exceptions wouldn't be fair to others". While true, I pointed out it was a bad policy -- especially given (1) today's health-conscious approaches toward food and (2) the abundance of choice that those dining out enjoy. We paid for our soda and left. Patrick's doesn't seem to care. I do, which is why I highly recommend dining elsewhere.

Patricks is a Sarasota standard. I really enjoy the staff. I'm not a regular and they always remember me. Here is a tip for Patricks. Go there after a show and you are sure to run into some of the actors. It's the "after show dinner place" for the performers in Sarasota. As Sarasota continues to grow into a foodie town I would like to see Patricks up their game on food. IT's pretty simple and the menu is stale. However, it's a fun place to eat outside, watch people and grab Whiteberry (next door) afterward.

Love this place. We went for happy hour and enjoyed the appetizers and beverages. They have select appetizers for $6 and beer and beverages for cheap prices. We got out of there with a tab for 3 beers, 2 mixed drinks and 2 appetizers for $24. Now that is a good deal. I enjoyed the mussels which were tasty and fresh. They were served in a bowl with just a little butter and broth. It was served with 2 small pieces of garlic bread which were crunchy but melted in your mouth once dipped in the broth. We also tried the chicken Thai dish and it had a nice flavor but tasted like it was fried in way too much dough then tossed in a Thai flavor sauce. Not so good. One of our friends got the chicken flat bread pizza that was awesome. This place was packed with regulars on a Friday night and you could tell it was the place to be.

Pretty bad. After growing up in The SRQ and supporting Patricks at the original location for 15+ years I went back tonight for the first time since the move. Bad experience. Poor service, always loved the Bronx Burger, it was awful, and the fries tasted like cold cardboard. Waitress could not have cared less about us, never checked in or I would have sent it back. Sorry Patricks I won't be back. Just bad all around.......

Amazing burger! Been here a couple times but this past time tried the burger with chili with their spicy pepper jack cheese...amazing! Must try! Service always pretty good. I think our servers name was either Chris or Nick....but he was great.

I cannot comment on the food as we didn't eat here, instead had an after-dinner drink at one of the sidewalk tables, but the owner was very sweet and our server was 5-star nice!

Service was good, interior nice, but food not that great. Lobster mac was OK but fish and chips were awful. Best comparison would be overcook fish sticks. Dark with very dry and tasteless strips of fish. I wont be back. Too many great places to eat in Sarasota.

I am a Snow Bird and have eaten at Patrick's at least a half a dozen times. I have had burgers, seafood and pasta dishes. They have a good assortment of draft beers, house wine by the glass and the bartenders pour a good drink. The staff is friendly and professional. I met the owner one night and his friend (both from Cambridge, Massachusetts). He is a good businessman and I could tell he is all about the customer. If you want a reasonably priced good meal in historic Sarasota try this place.

Went to Patricks 1481 to celebrate a friends birthday. We both ordered the fish & chips. When brought to the table they looked like over cooked fish sticks! Awful. We did return them to the kitchen & ordered something else - was okay but to many restaurants in town to return there anytime soon.

Good place on Main Street Sarasota, clean and good people. A sign outside claims to have the best burgers on town. My husband and I had a burger each...great quality meat (which was GREAT and huge component of a good burger), good quality cheese...all melted (GREAT), the bread was fresh, but the patty was too tick and couldn't keep all the ingredients together....overall was a good burger, but not the best one I had ever had...the regular fries were not good, just regular frozen fries, the sweet potatoes fries were good...my daughter had chicken tenders and nothing fancy...just frozen tenders you can buy at the grocery store and make yourself...the beer selection was small and just a 3-4 on draft...

I moved it up to a 2 star because we had a great waitress.... Other than that stay away. I have heard great things about this place. So me and a group of my family decided to give it a try. I was highly disappointed with my food (burger and fries) but decided not to be the complainer of the table...Little did I know that I probably had the best food out of the group. My brother-in-law had a steak that taste like it had been frozen and heated in a microwave...that seemed to be the same with others who ordered various types of steaks. A lot of food was cold one bite, hot another...microwave much. The only person that seemed to like their food ordered the wings. Our group was unanamaous in the decision that there are too many great restaurants in this area to waste your money here.

Today my Mahi island salad was really good. The greens were fresh, the Mahi seasoned just the right amount for me. My spouse's Mediterranean salad had 3 large lamb chops that were so flavorful & tender. We come often, but today was especially yummy. We also like the ceviche salad & I like the black bean cakes. And the peanut butter tart is divine. I gave it 3 stars because I'm fussy, it's more like 31/2.

The hamburger is exceptional - but the service needs improvement! SLOW!!!! Don't be in a hurry.... Until the check comes, when the waiter wants to get his next party seated! Lol! Just for spite, we decided to order another round of cokes and enjoy a little people watching!

We loved it here! I got the New England Clam chowder to start. I am from Connecticut, so I know real NE clam chowder. This was awesome! It wasn't really thick, but it wasn't watery either, there was even the little crunch from the sand on the clams! For dinner I got the buffalo wings and was not disappointed. They gave you plenty of veggies on the side and the wing sauce was so tasty! It had a faint BBQ taste to it, very different that anything I've ever had. My mom got the grilled Mahi-Mahi and enjoyed that, which came with a side of delicious fresh mozzarella and tomato. Dad got a burger and enjoyed it as well. After searching for a place to eat that was open at 9:45pm we were left with no choice but to go here, but I would definitely go back. Our waitress was really nice. She didn't mind that we were the last table, and was very sweet with great manners.

On the famous Main Street...right near the Ritz Carlton where we stayed. There is a nice amount of restaurants along this strip and area so we have to narrow this pub experience to all the other local restaurants. This got the approval from me as referred by a few locals, including a local police office...most times these references are best. The burgers were good and the vibe of a pub with a very refined atmosphere were the theme here! The place has all the right feelings you are looking for if beers, drinks, a good fun atmosphere to dine in! They are kids friendly and their menu is right on...for the price and value! Our wait staff was so friendly and she really made us feel welcome, even though our little one...created a little drama....so thank you to our lady waiter. The place really has a nice people watcher outside eating area....and think that they hit on all finds and appetites! Like the casual or get dressed up feeling atmosphere... With a menu that suffice any occasion!

I decided to return here after two years; I should have read the reviews to remind myself why not to come. I would say that the food is mediocre, but the service is horrible. These guys basically ruined my afternoon. I would highly recommend against bringing a group here. I will not be making the mistake of coming back.

This is one of my favorite bar food restaurants in Sarasota and I like to come for my birthday every year. It by far has the BEST onion soup and steak sandwich (glad they changed it back). The artichoke spinach dip is also really good, but very cheesy and will break your diet bank. Burgers.... very good!!!! The dessert bites were excellent!!! As for service, it is okay. We had a few issues, but nothing to make me not return. The noise level can get bad, especially if not in a booth. Wish they would correct that and then it would be even better.

Disappointing. Came on the recommendation of a friend. Had a burger with blue cheese and fries. Blue cheese was thick like cream cheese with little flavor and barely melted. Fries were unimpressive as well. Went to Mattison's and had the exact same meal 3 days later and it was far superior. Our waiter was inattentive and forgot to bring our beer. We sat for several minutes with food and nothing to drink.

As a very convenient downtown lunch spot there is a never ending stream of patrons at Patrick's. I must say that I am a bit more fond of this place since it moved to the new digs. It elevates the standard fare just a tad. You can always count on a decent and reasonably priced meal. The staff is pleasant and the service fairly quick for lunch. I usually go for a standard burger with a side of sweet potato fries. If you're looking to lighten it up a little order the South Beach Burger Salad......a burger patty on a salad. I highly recommend the Mac & Cheese if you need a comfort food fix. Enjoy!

I am finally done with Patrick's. I have been a customer for almost 20 years. Patrick's used to be a dependable place to grab a good burger and a beer. Now, however, the food is uniformly lackluster at best and the service is atrocious. I stopped in Saturday with my family for lunch. Although the sidewalk tables were full, there was only one other table occupied in the dining room. The hostess seated us and we sat there for 10 minutes (I timed it). 5 different servers walked right past our table. No one acknowledged us, much less took a drink order. In fact, I watched as two servers stood in the back by the kitchen, maybe 15 feet away from us. The male server was too busy giving the female server a shoulder massage to take care of our table. We walked out, garnering a half-hearted "sorry" from the hostess when I explained to her why we were leaving. We went out and got some food at Farmer's Market. On the whole, it was cheaper and better than what we would have received at Patrick's and -- shockingly enough -- the vendors were uniformly pleasant and seemed pleased to have our business. While I was sad when Patrick's had to move from its former location, I actually like what they did with the inside of the new restaurant. Too bad Patrick's seemed to have left more than the decor behind in the move. There are many places to spend your hard-earned dollars when going out to eat. Why would anyone bother with a place that seems not to care about its customers?

Pretty good. I like the atmosphere. The menu was interesting... I love restaurants where I have a hard time choosing between many appealing options. It makes me want to go back and try the others. I had a burger which came with a small cup of chili on the side for it (which, unfortunately, was identical to Wendy's chili... all cumen). Chili withstanding, the burger was great. My date's steak salad was also wonderful. Go here with friends. It's good stuff.

The burger was bland and had a raw onion on it. Yuck. The beer selection was terrible. Hardly any fries with the burger.

Awful! Although the service was fine, the burger I was served smelled and tasted like fish. When I told my server, she said, oh they made the burger on the same platter as the fish! Gross!!!! She did take it away and told me a fresh burger would be right out... And it was, raw...eeewwww. And no bacon, when I tasted the meat it tasted rotten. Never again!

I really enjoyed Patrick's, so much so that I wound up going several times while I was in Sarasota. They have killer burgers and the burger special on Mondays is not to be missed! However almost anything on the menu is bound to be good. They have a good selection of beers and an even better selection of wines (on which they often have specials) The service is friendly and efficient and the vibe in here is really cool. A great place to start out for dinner and drinks before hitting the bars

Walked by while looking for a place for lunch. I wanted a healthier salad and the 1481 caught my eye. It was excellent. A good mix of fruit and greens. I talked to some of the locals and said they come often. The place was packed for lunch which is always a good sign too. They offered pretty good lunch specials. I will be back.

I lived in the area for almost 5 years before I tried Patrick's. Just seemed the typical sports bar kind of joint. But working down town it was eventual I would venture in. The place is set up a bit for high turn over. The chairs are all pretty much hard wood, which looks nice and is easy to clean, but no one is gong to linger as their but gets sore. One of those old restaurant tricks, make the chair uncomfortable so the tables clear and you can get a another seating in. The food is reliable good here in that sort of expensive burger sense. When I first came here I would call it the $6 burger joint. Now it is more like the $8 burger joint. The burgers are all on the fancy side and are very tasty. Everything else I've tried here was just so so. Their strength is the burgers and sandwiches. So stick with that. Friends and coworkers have had disappointing experiences with over cooked pasta and the like so I can't recommend that. Service is typically good. Just depends on how well your particular server can handle the rush of the moment. So I've had very good to just ok service depending on the skills at hand. But always friendly and never any real problems.

We dined here before attending a performance at FST and had a nice experience. The new location is bright, airy, comfortable, and offers sidewalk seating. Decor gives a nod to Sarasota's downtown arts movement and the service was very attentive. Our server made me aware the potobello burger was 100% portobello and 0% burger, and suggested the Roundabout Burger with goat cheese as an alternative. I highly recommend it! Great salads and veggies, too! My favorite place for burgers in Sarasota. The only negative is the noise level-a little hard competing w/ the bar and TVs.

We arrived at Sarasota on a Sunday around noon and decided (hungrily) to eat at Patrick's/1481. I always want brunch (eggs) and hubby always wants anything but b-fast, so Patrick's seemed to fit the bill. They also raved about "best burger" in 2010 and 2012. We sat at a high-top by the bar and service was definitely spotty. We got our drinks, gave our order, and lost our waitress. I got the tenderloin eggs benedict, which were nothing special and the hollandaise (which I do on the side) was congealed and separating. Hubby got the burger, and after the first bite, asked "when did they win the best burger award?" because it was poorly seasoned and not good at all. Keep walking past Patrick's and hit Mattison's, which we were sad to see as we left Patrick's (just a few more steps to better food!)

How would you like your burger cooked? I cringe anytime I hear that at a place ordering a burger fully knowing that 90% of the times I will get it overcooked. My first time at Patricks I was suprised when it came out medium-rare as ordered and it was actually a really good burger. Moving forward my next 5,6,10 visits were met with disapointment. I kept telling myself that maybe it was just the night staff, just the weekend staff? Nope. The staff there simply does not care about how you want your burger cooked. I get welldone, overcooked burgers every time. Keep in mind I am only speaking for the burgers here and have not even tried anything else. The staff is hit or miss, usually they are either too busy or just don't care enough to come back and check if you need refills. In the end I am writing this in hopes that management takes notice and fixes their kitchen, because for a place that is supposed to be known for their burgers, their staff is really hurting their reputation.

My four star review is for their burger, by the way, not the atmosphere or service, so keep that in mind. I went to Patrick's last Sunday, somewhere around 7pm, right after attending a very nice, free jazz concert at a church in the neighborhood. There was a little wait for tables, so I grabbed a glass of cheapie Pinot Noir at the bar. I should mention I had company, my friend was with me. He didn't drink anything other than water. Anyway, that's not relevant, as I couldn't finish my glass of wine because I didn't like it enough to force myself to chug it down, so I guess my friend made a good choice skipping the vino. Eventually we get a table and peruse the menu, although we were both set on ordering their burger. I've heard it's quite good, just didn't believe... so, I chose to have a burger at Indigenous and Owen's instead, before actually trying the famous Patrick's burger. Fast forward to the food, both burgers were ordered med-rare, with cheddar, lettuce, onions, tomato and fries. When the plates arrived, my first though was, well, this is not huge at all (I guess I was expecting some kind of monstrosity of a burger and a mountain of fries with it), and what's up with my 20 fries? Should I count them? Is this a serving of fries, looks kinda skimpy... Well, just don't think about the number of fries you have on your plate right now and bite into that burger, already! And so I did! Remember, I was convinced the burger would be so-so at the most, but it came out cooked perfectly, it was quite tasty (a little char would have made it almost perfect), it was the cheapest out of the 3 I had these past weeks, and although it was quite filling, no food coma resulted from it. And the amount of fries accompanying the burger was perfect, actually! So, there you go, what a nice surprise even though I was anticipating a meh experience. The service was cold and impersonal, but whatever, it won't keep me from returning, the atmosphere not exactly welcoming, too loud for my taste. We left a nice tip and decided this was the best burger we've had so far in Sarasota, and the cheapest!!! I guess it's true, Patrick's does serve a good burger. Can't wait to go back on a quiet day and avoid the clamor. Oh, and that mac and cheese on the menu was winking at me.

Had the 1481 salad for lunch... Delicious as usual! My girlfriend had the black bean lunch and per the norm... Delightful! Segueing nicely into the service which was fantastic. Donna was awesome!

By than I didn't even felt like staying there .So I called everyone to meet me at saluts.Didnt even tried there food .Sorry Patricks but you really need a book on restaurant etiquette. No star

This place does have a lot of "hype" behind its name/reputation. Apparently it has been around for a LONG time. I didnt have a horrible experience, but i didnt have a "five-star" experience, either. Now listen, they are ALWAYS packed, and im not into the whole 'crowded restaurant' experience. I had some ahi tuna, some sliders, and something else, i cant remember (thats either a bad or irrelevant thing) but hey...ill go back.

As a fan of great burgers, Patricks has been on my 'go have a burger' list since we moved to Sarasota since I've heard a ton of people raving about it. Gabriel and I decided to share a burger, soup and a salad instead of both totally stuffing ourselves and it worked out perfectly. It's a great way to try indulgent food without feeling totally glutenous afterward. The soup was a seafood chowder that was very much like a manhattan clam chowder, only with fish instead of clams. The broth was pretty good- but not outstanding, and the pieces of veggies and fish were a bit on the skimpy side. The tossed salad with grilled chicken was a very generous portion, although pretty boring with nothing except lettuce, radishes, cucumbers and carrots. The blue cheese dressing had good sized chunks of cheese but was only average- probably from a bottle and not homemade. The burger looked awesome and was cooked exactly as we requested, but the meat itself was nothing that spectacular to me. Not especially flavorful or juicy- just an average pub burger on a regular sesame seed bun, as far as I was concerned. The combo of regular and crinkle cut fries were crisp, hot and tasty and we polished them off quickly. The service was very friendly and efficient and we enjoyed sitting outside on main street watching the passers by. Overall, our experience was pretty good- but not so amazing that I really understood why so many people gush about it. As far of a trek as it is, Burg Bar and Grill in St. Pete blows this place away, and is totally worth the drive if you are really craving a great burger. I'd love to know what other burgers in the Sarasota/Lakewood Ranch area you love...please comment and let me know!

They are currently doing a promotion where their burger prices are rolled back to what they were in 1985 to celebrate their 25th anniversary. You can't beat that. I got a bronx bomber which came out cooked perfectly medium rare how I asked and topped with swiss, onions, and bbq sauce. Yum! Cole slaw and fries are solid but not out of this world. The ambiance/decor leaves something to be desired - looks outdated and a bit worn inside. Service was decent. I wouldn't go out of my way to come here but was pleasantly surprised with the tasty burger. And dinner for 2 (including a beer!) was less than $20 with tip, how can you go wrong?

This is a bar/restaurant with upscale bar food at a reasonable price. I have visited several times and have never been disappointed. Good happy hour, good service and fresh food. The hamburgers are definitely excellent and they have been having a special for months on Mondays (all day) for $5 with fries. The bargain of the week in Sarasota. The interior style and decoration is definitely a positive and it seems always to be busy. If you are looking for tasty bar type food or even casual fare served courteously and promptly with a good beverage (or two) this is the place in downtown Sarasota.

Wanted to see an out of market NFL game on one of their many TV screens in the bar. Called twice to make sure that we could would be able to view this 4 pm game, and that they had NFL ticket. Got there before 4. There were no seats at the bar, but a table in the bar was vacant. We asked that one of the screens be tuned to our game. We were told that the boozer fossils at the bar had first say as to what was being aired. We immediately left, as we are not in the habit of being lied to. Went to Old School, next to the Hollywood 20 Theater. Karl, the owner, could not have been more helpful. He immediately put our game on one of his many screens, and made sure that we were happy. Karl is the bomb!

Excellent food. So-So service. Waitress pretty much forgot about us in an empty restaurant. It doesn't seem like other waitresses had the same problem though. The burger was amazing. I would even venture to say the burger was possibly worth dealing with the mediocre service.

Love this place. We sat at the bar. We had a Kress burger with sweet potato fries and the lobster Mac and cheese. Good food at decent price. One of our favorite places on Main Street.

Patrick's was my first dining experience in Sarasota, FL. I am definitely not used to FL in June, so we were dying to get out of the heat as soon as possible! This nice and well air conditioned restaurant was recommended by our hotel, so we decided to check it out. The Food: the appetizers were good, but nothing to brag about. There were a couple appetizers I'm not used to seeing on the appetizer menu... Meatballs? As an appetizer? Not something I would consider an appetizer, but I guess some people would order it. I tried the meatballs, seared tuna, and the artichoke dip. I recommend the Seared Tuna. I ordered a Blackened Seafood Plate with veggies and mashed potatoes. It was a mix of shrimp, scallops and fish. Everything was good except the fish which was way overcooked. I hate the texture of overcooked fish. The creme brulee is some of the best that I've ever had. Everyone knows the sugar on the top is the best part, so I love that they made it a little bit thicker than normal. Only one comment... add a little fruit or chocolate drizzle, and it would be the perfect creme brulee. The Booze: First of all... I LOVE Shock Top and it made my day to see that they had it on tap. They also have a good selection of martinis. A friend ordered the coconut, and apparently it tastes like medicine. Try the raspberry instead. Overall, I would say that this place is worth checking out whether you're a local or an out-of-towner like myself. It's the type of place where it can suit whatever vibe you're going for, whether it be a regular dinner out, a birthday, a date, cocktails... This place has it all. On a side note.... If you check out their website it says that they have a "New York Flair". One of my friends mentioned that she thought the place had a NYC vibe when we first entered! So... check it out!

The bar manager was very discourteous to my friends and I last night. Won't be entertaining clients for lunch here anymore :-)

I know I complain about decor and ambiance a lot in my reviews. I believe there is more to a dining experience than just the food. For the first time in a while I was quite pleased with the atmosphere of a restaurant downtown. It's got sort of a vintage NYC glam to it. The lighting was perfect for a Friday night at 8:30. The noise level was a bit distracting but considering the set up, there's not much that could be done to fix that. It was Christmas music, to be expected this time of year. I hope it's a little better when it's not the holiday season. We initially got seated at a small table near the dish pit which is something I just couldn't tolerate. I work in a restaurant so the last thing I want to do is try and enjoy my experience with clanking silverware and pots next to my head. I hated to do it but I had to be one of those people that complains about the hostesses choice of seating. My boyfriend thinks whenever we get shafted like that its because, as he assumes, we are young therefore no one cares about us. I don't think that's true. In fact, people my age are way better tippers than most old people in Sarasota. Anyway, table relocation went along just fine. Since we arrived at about 8pm we were just on the tail end of their dinner pop and it was clear our server was still trying to catch up from the rush. I was quite parched by the time our drinks arrived. But that was probably my fault seeing as how I said I needed a minute to decide. I feel that most of the communication with our server consisted of smiles and head nods due to the noise level. That was ok because nothing was lost in the mix, but I can see how others (read: old crotchety people) may find that irritating. Usually those types of people have about 6,000 stupid questions about the menu (ie: "tell me about your Caesar salad..") We loved the vegetarian spring rolls. The sweet chili sauce was a little too spicy for my bland tongue. But the rolls could stand on their own and that's an appetizer I really enjoy. Jake got a turkey club burger, which he said was good. But he likes most anything. I got the Jenna's black bean cakes, which was actually only one black bean patty with a very large salad. I'm sure it's not something that is ordered too often but I thought it was ok. I appreciated the fact that it wasn't too spicy but it could have been a bit warmer! It was also just a little too soft for my liking. I think a few more minutes on the flat top would have fixed that right up. I was happy with the generous portion of salad although it kind of felt like I was paying $12 for a house salad and a cup of warm beans. I guess that's what you get for trying to be healthy these days! The greens and veggies used tastes fresh so it was worth it in the end. This was actually our second time here, if I had rates it on the first visit I would give it a 4. This time it's only a 3 but I think I'll give this place another chance in the near future!

Not sure what the negative reviews are about, but I enjoyed Patrick's. Four draft Shock Tops and a Kress burger (bacon cheeseburger, fries, chili AND onion rings) for $25 in a nice place with indoor and outdoor seating. I minused a star because I think they need to to add to the beer list. BTW- they don'thave the Monday burger special now- it's seasonal, apparently. A pleasant place and worth a trip.

Oy vey. This place needs new management immediately if not sooner. Lousy, just lousy, hostess and servers. I honestly think one would have to try really hard to be as inept as they were tonight. No waitress came to our table until we got to up get one after waiting 10 mins. Food took a full 30 minutes to come out and it was mediocre at best. Fries were soggy..burger bland and uninspired. As a bonus - the bathrooms were dirty - wet floors, trash overflowing and soiled commodes. Eek.

I love Patrick's. I have always had good service. I do find the burgers quite large but agree with the other review that said the fries are a little skimpy. I don't really love the fries anyway so this isn't a huge issue for me. I miss the Black and Bleu burgers so now I get the Blackened Chicken Sandwich which is delicious. I have not yet had anything I did not like from Patrick's. Their French Onion soup is great, another favorite. It is loud inside so if that is an issue go when it is less crowded.

It was very nice place with in/out seating right on the corner in downtown. Our waitress was a little hyper but o'well. We ordered the Patrick burger. Very good! No bun, bleu cheese and hollidaise sauce. With ceaser salad. The Passion fruit mouse is actually a custard. But over all very Good!

was there for st pats day & was overall disappointed. if youre an irish pub & its st pats day- this should be a slam dunk, but it wasnt. yes- i got my customary green beer, i got a bottle of guinness (no guinness on tap), and ordered shepherds pie w beef tips. shepherds pie came out and had ZERO beef tips. too bad too- bc it was pretty good other than that. service was horrendous- some old mid 40's bartender chick who either didnt wanna be there, or was just too overwhelmed, take your pick. the crowd wasnt huge, so no need for her to act as tho she was so busy. she acted as tho i was a big hassle. there was the typical array of irish patrons in there, only a few were bombed. place just lacked energy- on a day when it should have been great! also ordered the corned beef sandwich- was dry. one positive- the food did come out pretty quick, especially relative to expectations considering it was st pats day. place is a little overpriced. there are better choices than this. not a disaster, but this place should do a better job. fact is tho- they only got my business bc it was st pats day.
