One of our 2 favorite breakfast joints in Sarasota! Fresh, home-cooked food that's served fast. Delicious stuffed french toast, crepes, blintzes, and my husband said the LARGE banana pancake was the best pancake he's had. Traditional eggs/bacon/home fries breakfasts are always fabulous as well. The decor is a little cheesy for me (think: Grandma's house with lace, china cabinets and French voile that's over-the-top), but love the food, service, and prices. Lots of delicious food for a great value, IMO. (If you're curious, our other favorite is the Sun Garden Cafe on Siesta Key, which is more pricey, but delicious)

Comfortable with feel of grandma's house. Large and unusual menu selections such as Swedish pancakes with lingonberries and Russian blintzes. Coffee was good, service was good and the food was good, although not exceptional. I would come back but not on my list of top places.

First trip to Millie's, specifically for breakfast.. Three of us had coffee, tea, and orange juice, followed by french toast, blueberry pancakes, biscuits and gravy, with sides of bacon, eggs, and potatoes. It was Sunday morning about 10am or so, and the place was busy. However, our wait was only about 15 minutes. Service was good, and the food was generous and tasty. Total bill for 3 at $33 plus tip. We were very pleased and we recommend Millie's.

I liked this place though we only ordered the omelettes. I think they could have been made softer and fluffier if they had mixed the eggs with milk and aerated them. The ingredients were thick and heavy and I order the Greek omelette. The sausage may have been a little overwhelming but it was otherwise a hughmongous omeletter that took up half the plate. The grits were nicely done and the English muffins were good, too. The coffee could have been stronger but after all, it was not Starbucks. It is a popular place and we had to wait at 1030am but it cleared out after a while. The omelettes were $7-8.50 and were worth it. Coffee was $2+ and a bottomless cup. The 3 of us got out for about $36.00.

Love this place! They have traditional, tasty breakfast food. It's true that they get crazy busy but they're also spectacular at getting people in and out. We've never waited more than 15 minutes after ordering to receive our food. I, personally, love the biscuit and gravy with home fries. Mmmmmmm mmmmmm.

WIFI: milliesSRQ Super cute super nice little place. If Aurora from sleeping beauty had a grandma this is what it would look like. Every single item placed has been carefully thought of to perfection. The food was great! HUGE PLATES. Most of my group and I got the a Country Breakfast for $8.99! It was HUGE. Definitely getting the 1/2 for $6.99 instead. Chocolate Chip Pancakes were AMAZING. The eggs weren't too good. They needed some seasoning or some salt. Our waiter tried to be funny through sarcasm and we enjoyed it-- to a certain extent. For instance, she shushed my parents when they asked a question but she was very nice and tried to be friendly although she made some mistakes on the receipts, when she poured coffee from the coffee pot the bottom of it touched my moms food. And she also spilled some syrup on my dads arm and didn't notice... We were very understanding and didn't really even bring up most of these to her, since she was trying her best and we appreciated that. Overall Awesome place! Would recommend.

Came for breakfast. We were served very quickly! Quaint atmosphere, yes as others said, like being at grandmas house. Oh hey, wait a minute! I'm a grandma and my house looks nothing like this! Well anyhow, you get the drift. Tasty omelets prepared to order. Not sure why some places think you need 3 eggs in an omelet. I always ask and then tell them 2 is my limit. With taters and toast, it's pretty filling. Hard to mess up an omelet. Spinach and cheese properly proportioned.

This is the ONLY place for breakfast in the Sarasota area. unbelievable food and super fast service. I've been here at least 20 times! It is a locals secret !

Millie's has long been an early morning fixture in Sarasota on Clark Road, & over time has changed management. However, their breakfasts are some of the best in town, although lunch is average. For breakfast they dominate the pancake genre; this is NOT the heavy commercial stuff IHOP churns out, but more like homemade, & includes an oven baked specialty German pancake, crepes, stuffed pancakes & traditional pancakes. They also have eggscellent omelettes, biscuits & gravy, corned beef hash & so much more

BREAKFAST for sure!!! Clean and cute decor. The food is okay. The pancake options are wonderful and portions are generous. The omelets are tasty and the coffee is hot. The service needs to real issue here and really needs to be improved. There seems no need or real ambition from the servers. With waits of 45 minutes, when you finally get seated you really want your coffee and to order. Forget that. Lets tack on another 10 minutes because the servers that are not so happy are doing only one thing at a time. Add to this, that unlike other nearby spots, there is no call ahead for the year round residences to get fed. There are plenty of breakfast spots so this is not worth the 45 minutes. Go elsewhere and wait until snowbirds are gone.

Great breakfast and lunch spot serving homemade classics. Family friendly; the decor is like being at grandma's house. Generous portions and friendly staff. Best item on the menu is the corned beef hash. Super fresh and crispy friend on the flattop; a rarity nowadays.

We had a large group of 50 ladies at Millie's today for Afternoon High Tea. It was fabulous and a good time was had by all of us. The food was fantastic, and if you are gluten free, they can accommodate that, too. My plate of gluten free goodies was just as yummy as the regular treats. I especially loved the gluten free scones with the Devonshire cream and lemon curd. Thank you for doing such a great job.

This is a great place to have breakfast. Yes, there was a crowd waiting to be seated and we had to wait about 20 minutes but it is worth the wait. Crowd moves rather fast. Loved the old decor and general ambience of the place. My recommendation is to try Country Breakfast with buttermilk pancakes. The French toast is delicious too. Both pancakes and toasts are fluffy and light. Love their own syrup. Added too, the bacon is just crisp, link sausages soft not too salty but juicy. Eggs I had better in Hilton Head breakfast joint but this was not bad. For me to rave about it, the yolk has to have that taste of an yolk and golden thick color that flows like a lava.

We had a delicious breakfast at Millie's. After reading some of the reviews, we expected slow, indifferent servers and a decor in need of updating. We received our coffee right after being seated, and our stuffed French toast was served in under 10 minutes (yes, it was busy). Our waitress had the right mix of being friendly but, unlike some restaurant servers, wasn't so friendly that we felt like she wanted to join us. Although it's not my personal style, there was absolutely nothing wrong with the decor. An important point for us--we didn't have to wait or ask for our bill.

Simply put, the best breakfast place in Sarasota bar none. I hesitate writing the review because I don't want it to get more crowded. Excellent brunch!

We were camping at Myakka River State Park (if you want to see a lot of alligators close up that is the place) just East of Sarasota and hankerin' for breakfast. Millies was close and well regarded so we went on a Tuesday morning. The place is in a large shopping area and has plenty of parking. Inside it is charmingly decorated in a "ladies tea room" style and large but not cavernous, with two separate dining areas. We were seated immediately and drink orders were taken, then we ordered when the waitress delivered them, and they came promptly. In general the prices were moderate for the type of establishment it is. She had two cornmeal pancakes with real maple syrup and a side of link sausage. The cakes were huge - dinner plate size - and had excellent taste and texture, and the link sausages were a rightsized portion of flavorful moist sausage. The cakes came with two small (1-2 oz) jars of maple syrup which turned out to be insufficient so we ordered one more. It turned out they charged $1.87 each for these, so this must have been the most high-end maple syrup in Canada. I had a mushroom and cheese omelet with home fries and rye toast. the omelet was large and quite fluffy, and had abundant filling, with fresh not canned mushrooms and flavorful cheese. It was slightly dry though and I would order it moist next time. The plentiful home fries were a little dry as well (they must be trying to satisfy their "fat conscious" customer base but when I go out to breakfast that is not what I am looking for). In summing up, Millies had many more pluses than minuses and we would be happy to return. Probably the only reason I did not give it five stars is the way overpriced maple syrup - I would try to sneak my own in next time ;) .

A lot of grey hair here for breakfast but who cares? Just tell them to turn up the hearing aids and stop shouting to the person sat next to them. OK - the food - The Eggs Benedict are superb, home fries or grits, coffee, orange juice. Also, their Swedish pancakes with lingonberry sauce is also awesome! Great home fries, too. The retires can get a bit LOUD at times yapping away, but it's a great place with a cool "vintage" atmosphere. When in Sarasota, I'd say Millie's is a must.

Best apricot stuffed French toast ever! This place packs them in everyday during season so you may have to wait. But it's worth it. The decor is quaint and charming the staff is adequate (depends on who you get.) I've tried breakfast and lunch here I'm not usually disappointed. I bring all my snowbird visitors here at least once!

Went to Millie's today for the first time. Blueberry pancakes where huge with blueberry syrup. Very good. Also ham & cheese omelet had a lot of ham and very filling. Overall the atmosphere was great, like visiting grandma's house. Only complaint was more of a distraction... we sat near the hostess stand and spent a lot of time watching the hostess playing with her hair, necklace, reapplying lip gloss, and readjusting the red bra under her white blouse... She seemed to have nothing to do other than stand around while everyone else seemed to be rushing to keep the full restaurant served.

Ordered a Western Omelette for breakfast and it came with a side of wheat toast. I was a little disappointed at the quality of food for the price. Even though it was slightly over $10 with tax, the meal didn't seem fresh. I'd be willing to give it another chance though.

Best place for a proper breakfast hands down. We discovered the place through an ad I'd say 20 years ago that boasted about their oatmeal. We figured if they could boast about their oatmeal it had to be some amazing oatmeal. And it was. After our first visit we'd fight over who got to order the oatmeal. Usually I won! :) Well now I gotta tell you that after living in the south for a short period of my life they have much more than just oatmeal. They taught my northern family about sun tea in the early 90's. We fell in love with their biscuits and gravy. The perfect amounts of creamy sauce, pepper and crumbled chunks of sausage. The biscuits are fluffy and yet sturdy enough for the sausage gravy. We can't leave Sarasota without having Millie's biscuits and sausage gravy at least twice. I have discovered cheese blitzes late in life. Millie's are creamy on the inside, thin and light on the outside. They come with sour cream strawberries but I have fallen in love with their stewed apricots. Is anyone else getting hot and melty? Well I'm on my way to Millie's...meet me there!

This is the best place for breakfast. The setting looks like grandmas house, and as such the food is down home country style. I always get their lumberjack breakfast because it includes their great pancakes. In the fall I LOVE their pumpkin spice pancakes. Prices are very reasonable.

  • Ashley P.

That was awesome...wish I hadn't eaten so much so I could eat more. Buscuits and gravy - yum. Corn beef hash - yum. Pancakes - double yum! Atmosphere is country but not cluttered. Ample seating without having the table squished together. Service was fast and friendly. I take brunch day serious. Millie's did not disappoint.

When we entered, I thought we had arrived at grandmas house. We liked our waitress. Corned beef hash was fine. Home fries good, not as crispy as I prefer. Fresh squeezed orange juice was nice. Good comments from our table about Swedish pancakes with lingonberries.

Always awesome! Great food- great service! Hard not to order the Greek salad! It's best anywhere !! Also there's a great boutique next door for women's clothing & costume jewelry called A'Tu - a great meeting place for breakfast or lunch followed by shopping afterwards!!

Millie's has become legendary among my family, for its unpretentious, country-style decor and "good old fashioned" hearty breakfasts. No, there was nothing revolutionary or all that unexpected on the menu, but what was there was just what you'd want...done just the way you'd want it. The equivalent of breakfast comfort food, and isn't that what breakfast should be?

Had delicious breakfast here this morning. I had stuffed French toast and my wife had an omelet....both were delicious. We will be back. The wait was worth it.

Food was okay. It wasn't bad, it was just your regular old breakfast foods. Not life changing, not terrible. Decor looks like your crazy great aunts house. She couldn't ever remember my name and would ask me about ten times who I was before she fed her 40 cats.

I'm on vacation with family who has been here before and they swore this place was a great breakfast restaurant. I unfortunately disagree. The staff is very friendly and all, but the food just wasn't doing it for me. I ordered a single biscuit and gravy with a side of bacon and coffee. The coffee is awful. No amount of sugar or cream could help. The biscuits and gravy aren't that great either. Even though I only ordered a single biscuit, they still filled the entire medium sized plate with gravy. It was crazy how much I got. The gravy was very plain tasting. Salt and pepper made it a little more bearable. The order also came with hash browns. I couldn't even eat them. They tasted extremely starchy and like old oil. The only good thing about this meal was the bacon. It had a great smokey flavor to it and cooked perfectly. I tried my sister in laws french toast and it tasted pretty good. Maybe I just ordered the wrong thing.

My wife and I stopped by for brunch after church on Sunday. It was about a 20 minute wait but I'll tell you, it was worthwhile. The food was fresh and delicious, the atmosphere was lively and the service was excellent. We will be back!

Enjoyed a great breakfast at Millie's 3/24/15 and it was so good that we're returning. It's a popular spot for a few reasons: 1) The atmosphere is comfy cosy grandma's house, what could be better? 2) the food quality is better than normal 3) Best of all, we lucked into getting Nancy as our waitress. She provided the suggestions & information that you won't see on the menu, such as their pancake mix is especially good because it comes from a special place in Miami, not the bulk food supplier. Indeed their pancakes are tender & delicious. She suggested their omlettes and also recommended the German Apple pancakes if you can wait for their goodness. As she said, their portions are generously large. Because of Nancy we had an excellent experience. Be sure to ask for her - or your experience will not be the same! See you at Millie's!

  • Becky D.

Food was okay. I thought portions were a nice size for the price. There were 5 of us meeting there for work social. None of us will be back. The manager was completely rude. We witness him telling a new mother with baby to hurry up and eat because people waiting for table. This place is flocked with snow birds. Not a good place for people under 70. The manager permit people to hover around tables waiting and making nasty comments until you leave.

I had high hopes for Millie's based on the reviews, but they fell way short of impressive. Let's start with the positives: 1. Very clean and cute country decor. 2. Delicious cinnamon roll. 3. The bus boys (men) were extremely attentive, quickly turned tables over and were the ones who actually said have a great day to me. Annnnnnd...that's it unfortunately. I got seated quickly but it took a lil over 5 minutes to get greeted by my waitress. As I sat there ( throughout my entire dining experience) I observed a waitress serve her tables without cracking a single smile. Even when her customers said hello and smiled she just turned away. Shame on her. The "homemade" corned beef hash resembled and tasted like the canned dog food like corned beef hash. See the pic. As for my waitress...well it took me nearly being done with my meal to get a smile from her.

Food was very good, typical breakfast food done very well. Service was good and breakfast was served with a smile. My husband had french toast which was good however maple syrup was an extra charge. I had a fresh vegetable omelete which was very tasty. The server was accomodating and kept the coffee coming without having to ask for more.

By the looks of the Yelp reviews, I can only surmise that Sarasota is in desperate need of a good breakfast place...if fellow Yelpers give this place close to 5 stars, we are really in trouble. The food is average (read: not particularly good or bad, but kind of old fashion cooking - ex. omellete is smothered with way too much cheddar cheese on top). The service was very friendly and nice, and the bus boys were very efficient. The decor is really old fashioned, something I would imagine finding in Savanah, GA...or some other over the top parody of a very southern city. The average clientele age was around 62...(nothing wrong with that, just a fact). And the place was packed on a random Tuesday around 9:30am. I just couldn't understand the attraction, or why it was so packed...I can only imagine that it might have been featured on a food show or got a good review in some type of travel magazine...by my experience, it was really average all the way around, expect below average on decor, unless you are into that look.

Best at Millie's is breakfast. Fresh eggs, fluffly pancakes, good sausage links. Maple syrup is "homemade," not sure what that means. But it does have decent flavor with a real maple syrup essence somewhere. I guess they are blending homemade sugar syrup with some maple syrup? [Chef salad was nothing to write home about--I think I saw American cheese in there.] Space is daylight-filled, ambience is homey, shabby-chic, French country. Service was attentive.

Short review. Look, Millie's is good. It's a fairly basic breakfast menu, but their omelets are good and their benedicts are good. Is it my go-to for breakfast/brunch? No. But it is top 5 or 6 in Sarasota. I'd say Sun Garden on Siesta Key is first by a LONG shot, then First Watch or Word of Mouth or perhaps Breakfast House, then probably Millie's. Atmosphere is cute. Looks like grandma's house, which is apropos considering this is a go-to for the blue hairs (I love you old people, I just like to kid). So go, you won't be disappointed. You may wait a while because this place gets busy, but you'll enjoy it.

One of the surprises on my Tampa trip. Great food. Very friendly service. The decor Is grandmother sheik. Got a country breakfast with amazingly fluffy pancakes and plenty of bacon. Paying less than 10 bucks for on person and being stuffed till dinner. Amazing. They need to make places like this up north. Either that or I'll move down south.

We started out our morning by "Yelping" to find a good breakfast spot. We are very picky and usually only select a restaurant with a 4 or 5 average. Millies came with a high rating so we tried it. We have visited Florida for many years and breakfast is always a challenge. Millies proved to be everything stated. We had the traditional breakfast of eggs and bacon with all the trimmings. The service and decor was as expected. My only suggestion, dine early as Millies is a local favorate.

My kids beg to go here every time we visit (couple times a year). They love the French toast or the chocolate chip pancakes. No disrespect to Dicky V. And the over hyped "Broken Egg" but the food is consistently better at Millie's. I admit the decor is not my style but the food is great! I have never been disappointed.

Our party of three had a late breakfast at this bustling breakfast-and-lunch-only restaurant on Dec. 28, 2012. We chose a 'Country Breakfast' (2 eggs, 2 pancakes and bacon -but there are options), 'French pancakes' (actually crepes) with orange liqueur and 'Millie's Special Sandwich,'featuring grilled ham, Swiss cheese, bacon, lettuce and tomato. All our selections were delicious, especially the superb buttermilk pancakes. Fortunately, the table service was fast and friendly, (although the young hostesses at the front desk need to put some smiles on their faces). The orange juice was good, the coffee was OK (we prefer it a bit stronger), the atmosphere was pleasant and relaxed. Definitely good for families. For the quality of the meal, the price was unbeatable - about $26 plus tax for the three of us.

Great lunch/breakfast. Knickknack-filled decor. Our pecan pancakes and club sandwich on 9 grain bread were excellent. At 1 PM we waited only a minute or two, but this looks like a (deservedly) busy place. Excellent service. Older crowd, but we expected that. We'll be back.

I have lived in Sarasota for five years and have yet to find a decent breakfast place until now. I stumbled upon Millies this past Saturday. They are in a strip mall on Clark and Sawyer, the strip mall is more businesses not the typical, drugstore, etc. Inside it is decorated like a victorian tea house with a mish mash of tables and booths. I was seated in a straight back booth with a cushion that kept moving. A friend had said they have amazing cottage cheese pancakes, but I am allergic to dairy and was alone so I couldn't share and decided to go with the egg beaters, ham and grits, not exciting oh but wait...first the watiress put a bottle of ketchup AND tobassco on my table without me asking, and then she served a huge plate of eggbeaters that were super fluffly, a huge slice of not smoked ham (I don't like smoked ham) and a small bowl of grits. The grits were the best I have ever had, super creamy and I kept asking if there was milk or cream in them since I am allergic to dairy. The ham was cooked perfectly and I only got through half. Price with coffee $9. Service outstanding. Next time I will sit at a table which I think would be more comfortable.
