One of the BEST Mexican restaurants I have ever been to. Chips and salsa are amazing. Empenadas are superb. Main dish is fantastic. Micheladas are perfectly made! Highly recommend making a trip over here. Hard to find, but definitely a hidden gem!

Update OCT '14: still serving honest, unpretentious Mexican country fare. Not TexMex or CalMex: just unadorned MexMex at reasonable prices and served by the friendliest señoras this side of the border.

Fuego! I have been coming here since they opened, they have continued to produce high quality tasty food for a good price. If you get the steak and shrimp fajitas you will thank me! Delicious!

Don't miss this gem of a restaurant. We were heading for another Mexican restaurant but couldn't find parking so Yelped Mexican and found this delightful place. Wow. Service excellent. Food exquisite and delicious. Very, very impressed. Thank you!

New favorite. Mexican seafood: inexpensive, friendly and fresh. I've been a dozen times and have never been disappointed trying different dishes. I always start with a cerviche tostada, however. Even the beans are yum.

This is a small, family-oriented restaurant with an interesting menu and friendly staff. I get tired of going into different Mexican restaurants and finding the same food. Not here with their wide variety of seafood dishes. Their margaritas are just plain good and there are ample dishes for vegetarians like me.

We love this place! Not only is the service very friendly (and their English wonderful) but the chef does any amazing job of preparing all of the meals. We always leave pleased and have never gotten sick from the food. The whole fried tilapia is fantastic! The specials are also always good - love their salsa verde.

Atmosphere was great, the service was good, and the food was delicious ! I would not recommended the fried ice cream, instead order the fried cheesecake.

Bad food and service I ask for extra fixing for my taco and was rudely told can not do.

Decent food for cheap. Rice seemed from a box. Good service but ultimately probably wouldn't return, you can find better Mexican in the same price range, namely Tijuana flats. For the record I had the lunch special burrito with green tomatillo sauce. Was expecting rice and beans inside but there were only beans ( I ordered without meat).

Sublime authentic Mexican seafood. We drove from Anna Maria while visiting the Ringling Estate. Best fish tacos ever. Amazing grilled tilapia and veggies cooked to perfection. And the margaritas? Potent. Well worth the drive for such divine cuisine. We headed back to he beach utterly satisfied.

Better than average for Mexican in SRQ. It's the ONLY genuine Mexican seafood place I've found in the area so far. If you're looking for Tex-Mex, hit some other joint ... otherwise, this is the one for you. Clean, good food, friendly service.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
