Really bad food and service. Sat by the water for sunset. After sunset it was completely dark. Asked the waiter, who spoke very little English, if he could get us a candle for our table. He said they don't have them. They offered no bread for tomato basil soup, the tuna sliders were not seared, but completely raw, and the seafood chowder was nasty.

Visited Marina Jack for the first time this weekend, and was not really that impressed. We sat on the patio, which was easily the best part of the experience. It was loud (a fishing tournament was going on), but the breeze was refreshing and the people watching was quality. It took way too long for anyone to come to our table. Too long as in 15+ minutes. Once the waitress finally came over, she was really nice, but it took 4 trips to our table for her to finally bring food menus. Food prices are a bit too much, in my opinion. The quality of the food just wasn't that great. I got a blackened grouper sandwich, which was good but not great. Fries were bland even though they looked like they should have been seasoned fries. The buffalo chicken dip was bland, in my opinion. Drinks wise...well. That was one thing they didn't do wrong with!! I ordered Jameson & Ginger, and drinks were STRONG. Holy moly strong!! Overall, you should go here for the atmosphere and view, not the food or exceptional service.

Marina Jack is many things.... It's a restaurant with an upstairs formal dining area, a lounge & piano bar on the lower level and outdoor patio area overlooking the beautiful water. In addition, it is a marina providing yacht services & excursions and sight seeing cruises. The bar & patio offer diverse live music from some pretty talented musicians on certain nights. One evening might be reggae, another night an 80's cover band. I've often made 'special requests' for songs with the bands who never failed to deliver... Always a 'lively' crowd when I stop in for some cocktails & dancing...aside from the breathtaking view - this is the best thing about Marina Jack for me. I always have a great time (especially when I'm dancing my *ss off). It's a Sarasota staple in the downtown area right on the Gulf. I've been here often as it has a comfortable vibe and you just can't beat that waterfront view.. yes, they have they're 'regulars' but when I'm in town, my purpose for coming here is either for lunch on the patio overlooking the water, or an evening with friends listening to live music in the lounge or outdoor patio enjoying a few vodka gimlet's (they hit the spot here) and yes, dancing..dancing and more dancing. I've witnessed diverse crowds here, and not so 'diverse' crowds...so it varies depending on when you are here. From June - August, there are many event's held in the area from boat shows, to art festivals...usually more 'touristy' during these months. It's not so much about the food that brings me here. Not that it's 'bad' it just your typical seafood fare & you can find this at many restaurants in this area being on the Gulf. Also, pretty steep prices for what they offer. Simply put, nothing 'noteworthy' about it, but stopping in for a casual, 'light lunch' is always a great option as you sit outside and savor the view! I'll usually order the grouper sandwich or the crab & lobster nachos...I never steer away from seafood and why would you when you have the freshest selection from these waters!!! BUT if your not a seafood fan like me, they have meat options and a good flatbread selection which is not a bad choice if your 'drinking & dancing' & need a little food.. It's all about the waterfront view....the music, the water, and the 'salty, sweet, ocean scent' that fills the air....ahhhhh....and breathe....

Picture an expansive, upstairs indoor (air conditioned) view of the marina while having a well-priced brunch with friends. Floor to ceiling windows added a very nice touch. Menu was broad and the food was very tasty. I ordered nothing challenging... Vegetable omlet. Most important for me is the noise level in a restaurant; I want to be able to talk to friends. No issue here. Large table, elegant and the large dining area allowed for intimate conversation. I'm no connoisseur of fine dining but this was a pleasure.

The new outside bar is very loud even without music the remodel is all hard surfaces The bulk of the bar your back faces the beautiful view The device is great though employees are wonderful Very disappointed in the valet very rude and drove my car way to fast

First off service is mediocre, alow multiple trips to get things done (like drop bread off, than go back get butter, drop food off go get flatware etc) sloppy uniforms outdatwd decor..sat upstairs which has an outstanding view..like the appetizers they were fantastic...entrees not so much 2 of the 4 ppl finished their meal. 4 ppl with one glass of wine cost us 235 for mediocre dinner....will never return..this is a total tourist spot and gives no justice to the type of eateries on main street and a few miles away on University park way...

The place has great views, bot overall it's just mehhh. The waitress was super slow and it was like pulling teeth trying to get a menu, the drinks, the waters, food, the second round of drinks, and finally the check. it's like she forgot about us the whole night! The margaritas were all sour mix, no tequila. The quesadilla was soggy. Spinach and artichoke dip was the only good thing to eat.

Went for lunch and the view was the best part of the restaurant. It was very crowded for a Thursday. The food was average, nothing really special. The restaurant is huge and our service was timely and efficient. Not sure why they don't improve their food quality. The appearance might trick you into thinking this is a 4-5 star restaurant. Go for the sunset view!

Had an 11:30 am reservation on a Wednesday to celebrate a birthday with a party of 3. We arrived when the valet wasn't busy, and were promptly seated at a table with a great view immediately behind the Maitre'D stand. Don was at the table promptly to tell us he was the bartender and our waiter for the day. If you have someone who likes cloth tablecloths and napkins, this is a good place to have a nice lunch with a pretty hefty price tag (Almost $90 for 3). Our food was good (not outstanding) -- grouper sandwiches and a special. The mango daquiri's were fabulous and the complimentary key lime pie to celebrate the birthday were all treats. We were not rushed -- actually had to track Don down to get the check (which was a bit annoying -- but better than the alternative). We left the restaurant around 1:00pm and the valet stand was hopping. Still the best way to park and go. Next time we will try to the more casual dining downstairs which was crowded but looked like fun!

Sat in the patio, had a nice view of the marina and watched the storm clouds. Clam chowder was yummy. Tried their seafood stuffed tomato salad. Didn't finish it - probably because I ordered a bowl of the clam chowder instead of a cup - eyes bigger than stomach syndrome. There was a live band playing some oldies but goodies music. Afterwards, walked around the marina. Valet parking is free, worth it especially when it's pouring rain. You can also self park too.

A solid go-to for lunch. Nothing on the menu is going to knock your socks off but the view is completely worth it if the weather is nice enough to sit outside. They make a decent drink but again, go for the view not so much the food. The food is fine but it seems as though this is one of those places that stays in business because of its location.

Hard to enjoy food outside on the water when people are allowed to smoke near you. The food was average, the view is awesome.

Ate at the upstairs dining. If you are not looking to put a little dent in your wallet, then this probably isn't the best place for you. Being in the area it is though, all places are pretty over priced. My mentality is if you're going to over pay at least get food that's worth every penny. Very beautiful views of the marina, yachts and water. My boyfriend and I had a reservation, window seat preference, and we were seated immediately. I would recommend making a reservation to be safe. My boyfriend and I are a very young couple (23 but look even younger) and around this area and Longboat Key we seem to have trouble finding waiters who give us the time of day. Luckily, we found no discrimination here and the service was outstanding and our meals were lovely. We each got a steak (at that point we were all "fished-out" but everything looked marvelous). Our steaks were cooked perfectly and our Lobstercargo for appetizer will be a must-get every time. If you're looking for upscale dining with great views, food, service and wine, GO HERE!

Ate at the upstairs restaurant and it was great service and great food. We both had one of the featured entrees, filet and crab. The filet was cooked perfectly. The bread basket was served warm and the salads were fresh. I would definitely recommend Marina Jack's.

I truly hate writing negative reviews but my goal is to spare whoever reads my reviews of a bad experience. So here I go. Annually my wife, kids and I visit my parents in FL on July 4th. Our best trip involved Nokomis Beach, a picnic dinner with wine and dancing to the drum circle as they played music throughout the fireworks display over the water. Wow! My parents believe that everyone at the drum circle are pagans and don't like to go. They'd rather pay exorbitant prices for a mediocre product. And Marina Jack did not disappoint. If that were all there was to my story I wouldn't bother to write a review, but there is more. Apparently, Marina Jack is THE place to go to see Sarasota's fireworks display. I've only been one other time and that was upstairs in the formal dining room and we couldn't see anything from our seats so we stood in a hallway and watched the fireworks through a skylight. It was interesting. This year my parents suggested the patio dining area so that we can see the display right above us as we enjoy dinner and drinks. They made reservations for our party of 8 and prepaid for valet parking. Cool, should be a fun night, right? Nope. We arrived at Marina Jack around 5:30, plenty of time for dinner before the fireworks at 9. The Valet informs us that they stopped providing service around 5. Huh? My father manipulates him into parking their car. But my wife, boys and I have to walk. We get seated on the patio under the overhang, as the band is setting up to play. Our waiter, who was pleasant enough, takes our drink order. It takes a really long time to get our drinks it's busy though so whatever. The band begins to play SO loud that attempting conversation is pointless. Even with someone sitting right next to you, I kid you not. In fairness I have always been terrible at reading lips. So we sit there grinning at each other like simpletons sucking down drinks. When the waiter takes our orders we have to point to the menu as if it were in a language we don't understand because the music is so loud. As I mentioned earlier, in this review, the food is mediocre -and that is a compliment. Which in of itself wouldn't be bad -hey I've cheap crappy meals before and didn't complain because when you go to a Waffle House that's what you expect- but when the bill comes out to over $700 I think it's fair to expect a little more. (That doesn't include the valet parking we paid for but didn't get) Still, we're here for the fireworks anyway, not for the convenient parking, not good food at reasonable prices, not conversation and companionship. Fireworks, man! It's worth mentioning at this point that the patio seating has been roped off for paying customers to enjoy the fireworks display. And in order to enter or leave this area (like to use the bathrooms) you must show security your wrist band. Which I liked because when I pay nearly a grand for a crappy meal I want to AT LEAST enjoy some elitist status! Right? Just before sunset is complete the band quiets down...ending their set with Sublime's Santeria. Because who doesn't want to contemplate an angry youth beating his ex-girlfriend and killing her new boyfriend over a little Key Lime Pie? Fortunately, I love that song and my parents didn't understand the lyrics. All right POP the fireworks start. Every non-paying person there bum rushed our seating area like it's the French Revolution and the Royals must learn to share or die! What the?!? Security couldn't have been less effective than a Viagra for a castrated man. All of them standing in front of us making our already limited view (we were under the overhang and couldn't see anything above 30 feet or so) non-existent. Security in a last resort to restore order begins yelling at everyone demanding to see wrist bands. he actually manages to clear out most of the non-paying customers. So a few of us at our table move forward a bit standing to see the fireworks. This is NO exaggeration he walks up to each of us individually demands to see our wristbands, we each oblige. After all we too want order. Then he screams in each of our faces to sit back in our seats. Okay, Oskar Gröning, relax. Since we couldn't see anything we ended up standing in the parking lot with all the people that didn't just spend over $700 to watch the fireworks. My mom somehow weaseled her way into a wait staff station and could see the fireworks. I don't know what happened to my dad. So, do yourself a favor, instead of dropping a ton of money for horrible memories that will haunt you 'til the end of your days, cruise over to Publix Deli spend $50-100, buy a $10 Styrofoam cooler and a bag-in-the-box wine, then head down to Nokomis Beach. They may be pagan (I don't know for a fact) but they do know how to party and they'll treat you like you're family. Those are memories worth having.

Upscale dining to a casual flip flop affair. Probably the best dining view in Sarasota. They have different menus from upstairs to patio. Evenings the patio turn into a party. Not exactly the best for dinner, but great for cocktails and dancing to live music. The food is consistent which is good. They also have a boat for dining and sunset cruises which makes Marina Jack unique to the area.

The view you get here is awesome. I don't think the food was anything special, I got myself the Cuban. I got myself a coconut mojito to drink, which was ok. But it came in a huge glass so that's a plus. But yeah, the view is the best thing about this place. Nothing beats eating at a marina. I mean check out the pics.

We were not impressed to say the least. Service was slow. Food was pricey. I ordered the seafood bouillabaisse. It was a salt lick. The aftertaste is uncomfortable. The lobster was tough. I didn't think it was possible to make lobster so rubbery/tough. The dish was $40!!! Totally awful for the price. My wife's (pasta) dish was a little better although it seemed as if it was pre-made and microwaved for her. The top was cold, the bottom was hot. As with mine, her lobster was tough. We visit Sarasota every year and have our favorite restaurants. We decided to make this an 'experimental night' and try a new place. This one is off the list. The only thing it has going for it is the location and the ambiance. TC

Great location, beautiful view, meh on the food. Seriously- if you've been to one fish place, you've been to them all and this place is right in the middle of the pack. Don't get me wrong, if you're not a food snob then this place is a good date site, but if you are looking for more than location then look else where.

So we sat at the restaurant and shared the sliders which were good. Lost one star because we asked for wi-fi password and were told "I don't know but you have to pay for it." So we said "Well can you get it?" Answer: "I don't know. I have no idea." Whaaaat???! Yes, we got it and it was free.

The service was very slow. Our waitress was not attentive and often difficult to track down. She never offered to refill any of our beverages. We waited about 30 mins just to get our first around of apps. The quality of the food was okay. Someone in our group order the burger and fries and it came to the table very cold, as if it was sitting out for a long time. We had to send it back and get a new order. I think they need to train the staff on when to place orders so it comes out after the apps at the appropriate temperature. The grouper tacos were tasty but the ahi tuna app was overcooked. The highlight was the meal was the key lime pie that was sent out (it was someone's birthday). I would give them another chance but I would only go back for drinks and apps not a full meal.

I ordered the marina coconut mojito and it was so refreshing! It hit the spot after a flight. I paired it with the MJ croissant with chicken salad and was a little disappointed in the flavor. The view is awesome on a nice sunny day!

We were visiting a friend in Sarasota. She wanted to take us to Marina Jack as she eats there often with clients and for business. I have to say the food was very good. Now the bad. As we did not want to wait for a table we sat at a table in the bar. After a long wait a server approached and took drink orders. When she returned she wanted to take our food order. We asked about the specials we had seen on the board outside the door. She was obviously upset at the question as she had know idea about the specials. She went to check on them. We waited. Finished our drinks. She returned. Told us about the specials. We asked for a minute to think about our orders. The server disappeared. She left the room and did not return for at least fifteen minutes. She then began to bus tables and the piano area. When we caught her attention she took our order for food and additional drinks. The food arrived quickly. The server never returned to check on our meals or refill water. Other employees came by to clear our table. Our server finally returned with our check. I gave her a credited card and returned quickly with my receipt. I think Nicole needs to find a new career. Our next experience with an employee was at the valet stand. Our friend had driven and decided to use valet as it was raining. The valet questioned the size of her tip. I did not ask our friend what she had given the young man. It looked to as if there were several bills being handed to the valet. My wife I do not live in Sarasota. We will never face the decision as to return to Marina Jack again. Our friend does live in Sarasota. She will not be returning any time soon.

If you are a foodie, do not go here. You will be sorely disappointed. We had dinner upstairs in the dining room. The music from the downstairs patio is muffled, but loud in the upstairs dining room. They also have music piped in overhead, so the atmosphere was not good at all. I ordered the special (6oz. prawn and 2 scallops, asparagus, truffle mashed). The mash potatoes were pretty good, but the rest was extremely bland. My husband ordered the Captain's Platter (fried). It was also extremely bland and not crispy. I think they have no salt in the kitchen. The best description is " Christmas at the nursing home" sort of meal. It's also very expensive for what they serve. The best thing they have is the view of the marina and park. They have been relying on their location for a long time. I will not go back to the upstairs dining room. Downstairs, outside dining, for lunch is good and reasonable. That's the only reason I gave 2 stars. Great view and music. Just a totally different atmosphere than upstairs.

Ok food (prior visits). The reason for my rating: poor service. Wanted to eat their with my dog in tow and couldn't get reasonable accommodations. By this I mean a place in the shade. They allow for dogs (great) but ONLY if you are willing to sit in the blazing sun. Severs refused to place an umbrella on the deck or allow us to sit under the patio. Sooooooo we left and went elsewhere.

We eventually had to go to the bar to order on the patio. We were here for 45 minutes and were finishing our drink before a server asked if we needed anything. The patio is seriously understaffed. The drink was fine.

I don't understand why there aren't better reviews for this place. I came here for dinner with a group of 10. We weren't seated right away, but didn't have to wait very long for our table. The (I think he was the manager) would follow up with us to keep us updated on our table. Once we sat down, our waiter came by pretty quickly to get our drink orders, tell us the special, and make recommendations (as well as telling us what to stay away from!). I ended up ordering a strawberry mojito which was delicious - fresh muddled strawberry and mint! Started with a house salad, which was fresh. And then had their special for my entree, which was a chilean sea bass and sea diver scallop in a balsamic reduction. The sea bass was cooked to perfection - very moist. The scallop was enormous and also delicious. I had asparagus and broccolini as sides, which were fresh and cooked just right as well. Everyone else in my party seemed to enjoy their drinks and entrees. Ended the night with a coffee, which was nothing special, but it wasn't bad :)

Service and food was fine, but our lunch was ruined when we found that the valet had scraped our car and refused to take responsibility. The manager of the valet not only refused to even consider the possibility that they were at fault, but also was incredibly dismissive towards us. Very disappointing. Would give zero stars if I could.

There were 14 of us here for a birthday luncheon. Valet parking is available, otherwise you are required to park in a large lot with a 3 hour limit that is at least a 5 minute walk to the restaurant. The view from the dining room is spectacular. Many yachts, costing up to $17 million, are tied up outside as you look over the marina and Sarasota Bay. Service was top notch from beginning to end. Our server was informed at the beginning that separate checks would be necessary and he let us know that it would not be a problem. As guests arrived, they were promptly seated and offered the opportunity to order a beverage. My wife and I started with a Basil Collins ($12) and a bottle of Negra Modelo ($4.75). They do not sell any draft beers. For our meals we had a Grouper Reuben ($18.95) and a Lunch Special ($17). The Reuben - grilled Florida red grouper topped with sauerkraut, Thousand Island dressing and Swiss cheese on marbled rye bread was plentiful and delicious. It may be difficult to imagine sauerkraut or T.I. dressing on fish, but just the right balance of each actually complemented the fish. The dish also came with a side of french fries and a spear of pickle. The Special that day was blackened snapper with one diver scallop, served with a dill butter sauce, white rice mixed with carrots, corn and peas, and green beans topped with julienned carrots. The snapper was perfectly cooked, moist, flakey and flavorful. The one scallop was of good size and also properly cooked. A grilled lemon-half was also provided. Coffee ($2.50/cup) was good but not exceptional. A more robust roast would have been expected after such a good meal as this. Once again, our server, Don, did a phenomenal job of handling such a large group with finesse and professionalism.

Ate at Marina Jacks this evening... Had the seafood platter and was thoroughly disappointed! All the fried fish and shrimp was overcooked! What a shame. The salad was good and so was the soup. The service was outstanding! My wife explained that the seafood was oveecooked and they gave us two replacement entrees with no discussion or debate! Had a woderful keylime pie and espresso for desert. Again, service was great and so were the replacement entrees. Well done. We will be back!

Went here for my friend's ladies night (bachelorette-ish) party. The sunset cruise came with good reviews online since we had to plan this out of state for the destination wedding. It was nice that it included dinner and drinks. The food is covered in the fee, but all drinks are extra. I'm guessing because it was a Thursday night, that is why it was pretty empty. We pretty much had the main floor to ourselves and there was a private party upstairs. The front of the boat was open for all, but there was only enough room for maybe 10 people out there. This was disappointing because the inside of the boat was chilly and outside was a warm and beautiful night. The food was fairly good. I had the salmon rather than the steak and the accompaning dill sauce was yummy. It was all buffet style, so I also took a side salad, dinner roll, mixed steamed veggies and a wild rice mixture. After all that, we could choose dessert. This area is well known for thier key lime invention. Not sure I would go on this again, unless we could go out on top or get outside more! It really was not fun to sit in a chilly, tinted window and cramped room for that price.

This review is limited to the dinner cruise aboard the Marina Jack II. Sarasota Bay Dinner Cruise. What's better than cruising Sarasota Bay in luxury while eating a slab of prime rib??? Nothing. The Marina Jack II is the second in line of MJ's duty vessels. It's plush and luxurious and similar, although miniaturized, of what you would find aboard a cruise ship. The buffet style dinner is meticulously maintained and not overbearing with choices. Seafood or Meat for a main entrée, several sides as well as a dessert bar. They have a cash bar on each of the two dining levels. The food=5 stars. There are outside tables on the front deck as well as seating to the rear of the boat. The dinner cruise is approx: 55.00 pp They have a cheaper lunch cruise--but the Gulf Coast sunset melting away in the horizon, with all those splendid hues, is worth the price of admission. The crew was great-funny and more than helpful. Valet parking is provided.

Came for lunch. The half sandwich and soup was pricey ($16.95) for what you got. The cup of soup (clam chowder) was very good, but the sandwich (seafood salad with lobster) was just ok... and the amount of food was small. This was by no means a "heaping" sandwich. Service was excellent. View is ok. Better view, better food, better prices, better "feel" just down the road at O'Leary's Tiki Bar.

This is a marina, but they also have a really nice patio bar/restaurant that I visited on a trip to Sarasota. It was really pleasant to sit at their bar and feel the breeze from the ocean blowing against you while you relaxed with some beers. I didn't try any food on their menu, but just had a couple of draft IPAs. Their beer selection was OK, and service was pretty friendly and efficient. It's a great place to people watch and look at the marina while relaxing. They also had some live entertainment, with a guy singing and playing the guitar. It was great to find a nice place out of the sun but also open to the ocean breeze. I would recommend stopping by here to relax with a few drinks if you are visiting the area.

Well, it's on the water. And it's pet friendly. We were driving through town and decided to stop for lunch. The pet friendly area was closed due to the heat (it was only May). There was no sign to indicate the closure so we took the metal ramp down to the pet area...a metal ramp in the sun is definitely not pet friendly. Back up the ramp, I found a waitress who directed us to a table on the outskirts of the restaurant. The high tables were not under cover and were mostly in the sun. Service was slow and options for allergy friendly fare were limited. Even so, my meal had to be sent back because what was supposed to be safe, wasn't; the replacement was delivered as my husband was finishing his meal. All in all: a pretty location, minimally pet friendly, possibly allergy safe if you're careful and knowledgable, minimum allergy-friendly options because of cross contamination, and our food was only so-so.

This restaurant was recommended by someone who lives here, most likely because it has a nice view and is on the water. The lobster bisque was wonderful, but the chicken special had no flavor. The restaurant is dated and needs an update. They should make the window shades electric because a little annoying to have the waiters raising them manually.

We stayed with friends that were at the mooring field for a month. The harbor is clean, the dingy dock convenient. The area is safe which is a big deal for Florida. The bathrooms and showers were clean and come with shampoo and soap. They could use bathmats (hint, hint). The location is great. It is within walking distance of Whole Foods, Publix and old Sarasota where there's a long list of great restaurants. Marina Jack also offers a shuttle service that will take you just about anywhere including West Marine.

This is a review of my dinner boat experience at Marina Jack's. Riding along the shore line, viewing the monstrous beautiful mansions was the best part of this trip. The buffet style dinner was okay, the tilapia had a lot of flavor (thanks to the mysterious yellow sauce I added). The vegetables were frozen and had zero flavor. And the chocolate cake was pretty good. But for $60 a ticket, I would never go back. Especially in the winter when the sunsets so early it's dark for 70% of the ride. The bottom line: If you have a bunch of money to waste on an average experience, then go check it out. If not, there are many other places to use your money.

Well went today to take in the sun and drinks. the view is everything it is made out to be. Sat at the outside bar waited about 30 minutes to be acknowledged. Asked a few young gentlemen if they were servers to be told no and no offer to get someone. Once we did gets drinks and order things went allot better. Disappointed with atomsphere no music, nothing more people eating and talking. 2 sandwich 4 drinks $70 less in the bank! Not sure worth the price for a 2 hour get out the house trip. Might return via boat to cool off for a drink due to they have plenty of room to tie up.

This review is for the upstairs dining room that overlooks lovely Sarasota Bay. We were seated promptly by the hostess near a window so we could see the yachts and the sunset that evening. My husband had a fresh Heirloom Caprese salad with a variety of tomatoes and I had an Heirloom salad to start the meal. Both salads were large and fresh and serve with a tasty house dressing. For our meals my husband had the large diver scallops with a spicy seafood sauce, smashed Yukon potatoes and a vegetable of the day. The scallops were large and tender and plated beautifully with the sauce adding color to the white scallops. I had the potato crusted grouper with grilled asparagus and sauteed spinach with garlic. The fish and the vegetables were very good and I ate the whole meal. We finished with hot tea and a slice of key lime pie which was good but not as good as the piece we had in Bern's in Tampa. Our server was great and we never lacked for anything as he constantly refilled our water glasses and asked if we needed other items. I actually liked this place because it was very attractive, the sunset over the Bay was beautiful and they had valet parking on a very busy parking lot. Is this the best place I've ever eaten? No not really but it was good and very attractive. The prices were high and that took away one star because the meal was good but not for the price we paid. I would recommend this for a lovely closing dinner in Sarasota when you want to have a good meal with a great view as a memory of your vacation.

Yelpers!!!! You disappoint me with your overly critical and grossly inaccurate reviews of this wonderful restaurant. We came here for dinner while visiting our Uncle in Sarasota and if we had believed the negative reviews, we would have missed a spectacular dining experience. Fantastic view of the Gulf Coast Harbour accompanied by mouth-watering fare---a total home run. All I have to say to you...this place gets my vote, and then some!

Marina Jacks is a great place to catch a fishing charter, have a good meal at the restaurant or O'Leary's tiki bar located on the water. Marina Jack is a great place to park and walk downtown or walk/run across the Ringling Bridge. There are some cool statues along the walking trail so bring your camera.

A pristine view and location. Right on the water, absolutely beautiful. The upstairs, indoor dining is up to par with their service and ambiance, but the food didn't seem to impress. Great tasting, just typical. No out of this world, knock you off your seat, exciting flavors or unique dishes.

Overcast but fabulous! If you want anything other than upscale bar food you need to head upstairs to the dining room for the good stuff. The location is one of the best in Sarasota and as such there is a never ending stream of visitors in-season. The seafood is very good as are the beef and signature entrees. On this particular evening we were very excited about the Oysters Rockefeller and Spicy Shrimp Appetizers. Very tasty! At our table of five there were three steaks, a grouper and a grilled salmon. There were no disappointed taste buds at our table. The wine list is excellent and worthy of the Wine Spectator Award of Excellence that it was awarded in 2012. A great place for a good meal and and excellent spot to admire the mega yachts that park themselves alongside year round.

Thank you for a wonderful experience for our 24th wedding anniversary dinner on March 10, 2014! Special thanks to the manager Evan, and our waiter Don for having an excellent disposition and did little extras to make our anniversary dinner one to remember. It was truly appreciated. They sat us by the window overlooking the bay and the view of the sunset was extra special. The upstairs restaurant is very classy and romantic. The chef takes pride in his food preparation and has an outstanding menu. The steaks were some of the best we have ever had. All the food, the appetizers, side dishes (spinach with garlic, asparagus), and desserts were perfection. Don was also an excellent waiter. We will be back for future special occasions.

Have eaten there or had drinks there several times over the years. The draw is the incomparable location on the water, overlooking the moored boats and Sarasota Bay as well as downtown. Drinks and food are fine and premium priced due to the location. I recall the menu as a mix of pub grub and heartier seafood and meat entrees. More likely to return for drinks and watching the sunset rather than eating.

This review is for the main dining room on the second level. There is also a casual bar and a casual restaurant downstairs, but this review is for their fine dining. This restaurant earns four stars in my book because of location, location, location. It's right on the water overlooking the glistening bay. Boats are docked out front and you eat against a window backdrop overlooking the beautiful water. The food doesn't even have to be good with a view like this. Luckily the food wasn't bad though! I ordered the seafood platter and my favorite of the platter were the crab cakes. They were a great blend of mostly crab and just a little bit of filling. Before the entree, I ordered the Cesar salad which was quite tasty! It almost had a mustard base dressing that gave it a nice kick. The ambiance was spectacular and I would definitely come back during my next visit.

The food was quite good for lunch. I enjoyed the blackened salmon salad, and my wife liked her chicken salad on a croissant. Plentiful portions. Terrific bayside setting. We sat on the deck with a relaxing view of Sarasota Bay. Even though it was a warm day, there was plenty of cover, fans, and breezes to keep you comfortable. Would have rated the restaurant higher were it not for the slow, inattentive and inaccurate service.

Marina Jacks did not disappoint me as I always considered it a tourist trap. We went with a group of people, relatively new to Florida, that wanted to go to this iconic Sarasota restaurant. Couldn't vote down the majority, so basically we were, ahhhh... trapped! On occasion through the years we've eaten downstairs in the Portside Patio where the menu (prices $10+) includes apps and sandwiches. The food is average at best and the view very pleasant. The group elected to go to the upstairs "Dining Room" where once again the nicest thing that can be said is a nice view (if water and expensive boats are your turn on) and average plain tasting food. Briefly, my wife had the New Zealand Rack of Lamb ($32.95) served with mint jelly and a few steak fries and I had the 12 ounce New York strip ($32.95) served with three onion rings. Both also came with a serving of Ratatouille. Nothing served was beyond earning a "just okay" rating, however, given the pricing I think you should expect and deserve more. Food preparation was lackluster and uninspired. We really weren't surprised. Others in our group had salmon and chicken dishes and I never heard an ooh or ahh about their dishes. As a matter of fact, there wasn't a comment positive or negative concerning the food. The quiet says a lot. That evening the restaurant had just a few tables occupied and the service was prompt and efficient. They do add an automatic 18% gratuity for parties of six or more. This is a restaurant that few locals frequent (at least none that I know) and the only way you would find us here again would be if we were, hmmmm what's the word I'm looking for? Trapped!

Another difficult venue to rate....the Marina area is a great place to take a stroll, walk the dog, hang out, and just generally bask in the glow of the beauty that is Sarasota Bay. The Marina is pretty and well maintained; the restaurant has quasi-sterile architectural style that somehow looks dated... like 1970's Postmodern Swedish. The restaurant is divided into a bar/patio area and an upstairs dining room, which I believe is cleverly called The Dining Room - with very pretty views of the marina and the bay. I have been to the dining room on many occasions and have gotten used to it.. Okay, not a ringing endorsement but it's hard to put my finger on what's slightly off. The space is very nice and open and if you are not from here the view alone may make your day. The seating is a bit uncomfortable especially for older folks. The staff upstairs can be hit or miss and that can certainly put a damper on things. I have been mostly for lunch and brunch with various types of folks and age ranges. People who really like Marina Jack, from my experience, have been visitors and especially older visitors. They enjoy the view and leisurely pace of the service. The eggs Benedict never disappoint and are nicely prepared and for lunch I have enjoyed the sesame tuna, it is my go to item unless I try the special. Don't expect to see Bobby Flay come wandering in and demand a "throw down"...but, for what Marina Jack is...I have grown to like it.

Wow. I'm surprised to see so many negative reviews. As I read them I am assuming many of them are from people that go there for the food. A marina is not the first place that comes to mind for good food. My rating however is from a boater's perspective. I'm a big fan of Marina Jack. As a Tampa boater I like the floating transient docks, and the marina location walking distance from downtown Sarasota. Marina Jack is one of those nice weekend getaway marinas just a few hours boating from most of Tampa Bay. I've never eaten at the marina, since all my visits I've walked to downtown to partake of the fantastic cuisine available there. So I can't talk to their food quality. But their services for transient boaters are very good, and make for a pleasant weekend, I highly recommend it (as a marina).

The second floor dining room has a great view of the marina and bridge. There's also a more casual dining room on the first floor, as well as a very casual patio with umbrellas. We enjoyed an easy, Sunday brunch that included a chicken salad sandwich on croissant with fries; an omelette with fruit; and a mahi filet with broccoli. Nothing to write home about, and our bill with soft drinks, tax and tip came to about $20 per person. My friend has sailed into here from down the coast, and said that the marina services are good.

The piece of property this restaurant is on is awesome. Large restaurant indoor and outdoor seating. Right on the marina, beautiful boats all around. However that is were it ends. The service was lousy, the food was lousy, the place is not clean. We had a few appetizers Oysters Rockefeller, Mussels that were inedible. Dinner we had the fried seafood platters and Grouper sandwiches. For being right on the water we expected fresh seafood, that was not the case. Lousy Lousy Lousy. What a shame such a great location. There was a piano player whom was very good and entertaining. Can't even say go for the drinks and entertainment because the drinks were not very good either. Pass this by!

Fab location - great place for people watching and reasonably priced drinks - don't let the upscale look and yachts put you off! Didn't try the food, but drinks and service were great. Great indoor-outdoor flow.

Sunny & mid-70''S we sat outside by the water. Service was not to speedy. Apps of Blue Crab Nachos were pretty good with the fresh fried chips were great. Conch fritters were the best we have ever had. Crispy on the outside with outstanding creamy insides. Creole fried shrimp wrap was pretty good she said. My Grouper Ruben was cooked just wright, but the Russian dressing was on the side. If i wanted to make a sandwich I would have stayed home. Put the dressing on the sandwich! Friends had a chopped salad which was liked, she had Crab Seafood Louis and liked it. Service was kinda slow, food was pretty good, get the Conch Fritters and enjoy the view.

I wasn't expecting much going in except for the view and that was a total disappointment. The sunset can barely be seen beyond the buildings to the west. Entrees at the upstairs restaurant range from around $25 for pastas to $45 for fish. This is absolutely ridiculous pricing. I ordered one of the cheap ones, the Blackened Mahi (a special of the day) and it was $35. The food was okay at best. The lemon butter sauce had the consistency and flavor of pre-processed sauce, the fish was overcooked and dry, and the green beans and carrots were shriveled like they had been microwaved. The staff was friendly and refilled my iced tea and water promptly and without question. 2 stars for service, but I don't want to come back.

Went here with a friend who has a boat in the adjacent marina. Ate on the outdoor patio area, so the view was nice, but the food was very mediocre and overpriced for what you get. I ordered a chicken ceasar salad and the lettuce was wilty like it sat in a bowl with it's dressing for a few hours. I think this place takes its location for granted and assumes people will come because of the location. Well, maybe once. I for one won't be going out of my way to dine there again.

There are 3 tiers for Marina Jack! The cheapest restaurant is the open air bar, usually have music at night, awesome view, but the food, not so much. Get a Bloody Mary and some chip and salas... The middle restaurant is the best choice here, it is half indoor and half outdoor on the right side of the buliding. The menu is a bit different the the open air bar, slightly better, reasonably priced. The high end restaurant is upstairs, view is amazing escecially for 4th of July fireworks! Food is still not that great, but you are not paying for the food here, just the view!

Went to the Marina Jack II for a lunch time crusie. The food was good, grouper, and chicken marsala. The crusie was really nice. The boat wasn't packed, but for 35.00 a person, I wouldn't do it again. I only got my iced tea refilled once. I drink a lot of iced tea, even more when its 95 degrees outside. As fasr as the service, I give it 1 star. The crusie I give 3 stars. I cannot comment on the inside resturants, because I didn't go inside them.

We ate in the fine dining room on the second floor with a beatiful view of the harbor and bay, even after dark. The service was superb -- attentive but not overbearing. I had the sherry and crab bisque and the half lobster stuffed with crab meat, and ended with the flourless chocolate cake. Others at our table ordered ahi tuna, lobster carbonera, crab cakes, and the lobster and scallops special. No one was disappointed. I would definitely recommend this place, but the only reason I give only 4 out of 5 stars is because the prices are really absurdly high. Too high, in my opinion.

It was so nice to sit by the water, so I'd give it 3 stars for the view. I love marinas and all the gently swaying geometric lines of the sails and posts of the boats. Go for the view, not the food. A solid 2 stars for the food. Crab nachos had too much cheese that overwhelmed everything, and not enough crab and the chips were greasy. Crab Nachos at Joe's Crab shack are much better. Conch fritters were ordinary at best, but I'm a sucker of anything conch. There's complimentary valet parking for all you lazy butts who don't need to walk off your over-cheesed nachos. I did. Besides, it's Florida, and the free parking is only a few yards down.

Four stars for the location, three stars for the food, and two stars for the service which was friendly but slow. If you want a beautiful place to go for mediocre food, this is your spot.

We went here because we were tired and wanted to eat by the water. We sat on the patio where the view of the harbor was adequate. Our waitress was a delight but our food order was wrong ( yet close) and we were too hungry to have her bring it back. The lunch was passable and over priced. I have to add this: the water served with our meal was the worst I ever tasted.

Ate here once while away. It was the days special for a lil over $10. Lobster stuffed Grouper. Texture was great, no fishy smell, the butter infused sauce was really silky (sorry only word to describe it). Really nice view of the marina and could even see the gulf of mexico in the distance. Looks pretty fancy at night so go at lunch if you're the frugal type. Good Deal.

The Marina is great, The "upscale" restaurant on the top floor is horrible. They think they have what it takes to be a high end fine dinning place, but they got it all wrong. DO NOT spend your money there. Sarasota has many better place to eat for half the price... ... We went on my girl's BDAY after a fun mini cruise around the bay. The menu starts by pointing out that the window tinting might affect the color of your meats, making them look less or more cooked than what you ordered. Well, You will not see such a ballsy claim on a decent restaurant. They just can't get their meats right. After that the server forgot our appetizer, and even though I had requested a candle for my girls BDAY since we got there, that candle never got there. I had to pay for the dessert that never had a BDAY candle... This place is a tourist trap with no manners, its expensive and disrespectful. The most expensive food we had and the worst one during our week in Sarasota. They should burn it down. It gives the town a bad name, when there are so many fantastic boutique and locally own places that are much cheaper and better.

Lovely location, great outdoor seating area and bar, and the food and service- at least at lunchtime- is decent. Also, kudos for allowing dogs but how come the area provided is all unshaded?! Our dog is not with us on this trip but we could not have sat on that patio with her in the direct sun. She could have been under the table but what about us? Florida has some weird laws about dogs...Birds and lizards can be on outdoor patios but dogs are somehow worse? Weird. Anyway, Marina Jack's restaurant is decent. It's not gourmet but they have fruity boat drinks and beer and enough sandwiches, wraps and apps to fill you up and get you back on your way. Plus, it's just fun to watch the boats come and go.

Food is overpriced but the view is awesome. Avoid using their kids-run valet service, they wrecked our vehicle and are extremely difficult to get reimbursed! Had to threaten retaining an attorney but it wasn't until we were told to inform the BBB that we received immediate attention. I am told they valet service is not affiliated with their restaurant. But thank you Marina Jack for finally mailing us a check towards repair costs.

Sunset View was just ok from the second floor - you have buildings in the way of the sunet. We had better sunset views from our beach and other restaurants during the week. Food was ok and I felt over priced for the quality. We were seated on the second floor and had reservations. I had the crab cakes which were dry and not a lot of crab. Although, probably it bit unfair as we have been to the some of the top crab cake dives in our area where we live. My one daughter had the Grouper and enjoyed it and thought it was good. Menu was somewhat more limited than I would have thought for the location. We agreed as a family we would not go back - other restaurants in the area with better views for the money.

It's location, location, location. A tourist destination. While I enjoy sitting by the water and taking in the view like anyone else, the food is just o.k. Ate downstairs for lunch, menu is limited, and they serve condiments in plastic cups holding packets. At happy hour/evening there is music by local bands downstairs as well as a piano bar. Haven't eaten upstairs in many years. As many venues do today, if you don't want to walk the distance, you're pretty much "forced" to use the valet parking. I'll go back with a group of people or when company comes to town.

Blech. If you're looking to feel dated and patronized, this is your place. I was in Sarasota visiting the grandparents when they suggested that the 5 of us go out to a nice meal on the bay. To be fair, Marina Jack does sport some fine views of the harbor. Unfortunately my taste buds are not behind my retinas and I was subjected to one of the most overcooked, over sauced, and disappointing seafood meals I've experienced. Every entree is served with either a garden salad (read: plain and boring ice berg lettuce) or seafood chowder. This is a little bizarre and frustrating as some of the appetizers sounded at least semi-appealing but I'm rarely hungry enough to satisfy three courses let alone the possibility of dessert. I did however decide to order the escargot in mushroom caps to begin with, as I had never tried snails. Unfortunately, I'm going to have to try them again as these slow terrestrians carried little taste, other than the cheap and fatty butter and garlic they were smothered in, and little in the way of texture, having been overcooked. The food was as expected blase. And quite overpriced. My 35$ sea bass with thai red curry lime sauce (aka hideously bland white cream sauce) was floating in oil on my plate. Every entree also comes with that evening's vegetables, which as far as I can tell, are the same greasy string beans, single broccoli floret and a quarter sized piece of cauliflower if you're lucky. Our waiter (more on him later) also informed us that the starch was a choice of rice pilaf with peas or cheddar mashed potatoes. Most of us chose the rice only to be given a pepper couscous with no explanation of the swap. As if our taste buds would simply nod and comply without a second thought. Indicating a severe lack of care from Marina Jack. Our waiter, Bill, was condescending, rude, and clearly wanted to leave. He consistently interrupted our conversations, hovered around our table waiting for the check, and left his belongings (tray table, that pad of paper) in the way and nearly forgot about them. If you're in Sarasota, skip Marina Jack. There are far better restaurants for you to enjoy. You can always take a walk around the water after, with a belly full of good food and a wallet still thick, rather than run towards the inland as we did. ps. don't get a margarita, unless you enjoy sweet, hardly alocholic, overpriced ice.

I enjoy the dining experience here whether indoors or out. The service can be spotty and is usually better on the loungy-first floor. Maybe because they get better drink tips? The view is great from either location where you can watch ships pass by in the harbor.

High Price for Bad Attitude !!!!! This was not our first visit to Marina Jack's but it will be our last. We stopped there for lunch after attending the boat show since it was handy. Waited over 45 minutes for cold sandwiches requiring NO cooking. Other people were in and out before we even got served. Spoke to a manager, who gave us such an attitude that if I had been her boss, she would have been fired on the spot! You don't have to pay their high prices for abuse and so so food.

The patio serves up great music and drinks! Pull your boat up after sunset and enjoy Sarasota's island life. Stay for the night or the decade. They offer dockage or slips for the long term. The Seafood Louie is awesome. The Spinach Salad with warm Bacon Dressing and Tenderloin Sandwich ROCK!

I almost gave this place two stars. 1 and 1/2 of the stars would have been the view. After thinking it over, it deserves about 1/2 star. The food was mediocre and somewhat expensive. We had a company function there - all dining guests were from out of town. It's quite dated and not comfortable. We sat outside which was great. The group size was about 20. We had round tables and squares put together in one line. People sat on corners, small wedges of the round table. It just didnt work. Use a little more effort for large groups and move all the square tables into a line. Wrought iron chairs are not comfy for a 3 hour event. Get something different. I thought the place had a saving grace when I went to the little boys room to relieve myself from the consumption of expensive margaritas. Waterless toilets by Kohler with signs indicating "we are saving water". Well one small effort doesn't save you from all the other plastic and disposables you use. Most beverages were served in plastic glasses. You think they had an interest in an oil company. Dinner was served on chipped china as well was my glass of wine. All condiments - guessed it served in plastic disposable containers. What really took the cake was the premade cocktail sauce factory sealed in a plastic container with a foil top. Hello Marina Jacks you are serving shrimp, make it fresh. It's basically ketchup and horseradish. We had one server and food came out in no orderly fashion. Courses mixed up, opposite ends of the table being served. Good thing I don't live here, I'd write more. Stay clear. Two thumbs down.

Meh. I've experienced better. That couldn't sum up Marina Jack's any better. I've eaten in three of the "areas" of the restaurant: the tiki bar, the deck out back, and upstairs in the "upscale" zone. All three are disappointing from a food standpoint. The tiki bar area is best avoided altogether, the expensive, small drinks are not worth the price, especially when you're there on a weekend night and you have to listen to yet another rendition of the Eagles sung by some beach bum entertainer with a guitar and a keyboard. The upstairs area is fair to middling, the drinks are okay, but the oysters on the half shell weren't cold and the seafood was run-of-the-mill. The porch out back is the best bet if you're dead set on going to see the view of the water, which like the reviewer below me said is what you're really paying for. While still overpriced, the menu is approachable and the bloody marys aren't bad. I hate the Eagles, by the way.

It's hard to argue with Marina Jack's. First, it has a killer location, at least for me. Any place where I can sit and eat while watching boats going by and the sun setting is halfway there already. In the mood for a light early dinner I had the Asian Black and Blue Salad and it was wonderful. For me, the keys to success in this salad are Asian spices that complement the ingredients, but more important is the seared Ahi tuna. It needs to be seared just right, but more importantly it needs to be wicked fresh for the right flavor and texture. Marina Jack had the right combo. Not only did it make for happy taste buds, it was filling enough as a light meal, leaving room for desert decadence, if desired. I enjoyed Marina Jack and will head back there again to sample something else.

Terrible service, Terrible food, outrageous prices, good view. Don't eat here, there are so many great places to eat in Sarasota! If you want good food with a view on the water, go to the Chart House.

We came here for sunset, drinks and music. The place was jammed with people and rocking. Great band! The sunset view....not actually on the water but rather over the buildings in the marina. We didn't try the food and I would try another sunset spot next time.

  • TP F.

I live in Sarasota and I'd been to Marina Jack before but I didn't think it could get any worse. Apart from a nice breeze off the Gulf nothing (except the beer) was worth eating. The Asian Salad was drenched with so much dressing that it resembled soup. I reordered a Cuban Sandwich which, for the price, was unremarkable in every way. The chicken breast on the Caesar Salad was flavorless and had a sickening processed feel to it on the tongue. If we had strolled 200 yards south to O'Leary's for some French fries or a deep-fried something on a bun we would've had the same view, edible food and several more dollars to call ours.

All marina jacks has to offer is a lovely, location, great view of the sunset and live tropical music. Certainly bypass if good quality food is what you are looking for. The menu is uninteresting and a bit pricey but I guess you have to accept you are paying for the atmosphere. For lack of anything better we order fried oysters (great anywhere else in the area) these were not fired at the proper temperature and were soggy and falling apart....we sent them back to the kitchen. The replacements were not much better. Oh well, the music was fun and you can't beat the view.

    (1)
  • Q's H.

The view can't be beat! The food is just ok. The staff is friendly. I'd come back for the amazing views but I'd sit in the bar area as the food upstairs in the "swanky" part tasted like bar food anyways!

After reading the other reviews for Marina Jack I am left with one emotion ... CONFUSION ! I am from out of town, Colorado to be precise and as anyone with the smallest level of geography knowledge realizes this means I am very very landlocked. I have been enjoying Marina Jack on my vacations visiting my mom for about 9 years. We just got back from lunch and I must say ... It is a little slice of heaven on earth ...or at least in Sarasota. There is a fancy schmancy place to dine upstairs that I have yet to encounter because, well, we are not not fancy schmancy folks. The main level however is just my cup of tea ... or Rum Runner as was the case today! Three of the four sides are open air and the breezes from the bay are enticing and relaxing and just make you feel fabulous. The hundred plus boats in the Marina coming in and out filled with fisher people and sun bathers and people just having a blast in the south Florida sun are such fun to watch. It is a laid back, well kept, happy place to be and I would imagine if you find yourself here AND unhappy ...prescription medication may be necessary. My mom and I each had the seafood salad on a croissant, and my 11 yr. old opted for the chikcekn salad. The croissants were very fresh and soft and not at all greasy. The shrimp, scallops ( I adore scallops) and crab were all so fresh and tender and the portions were very substantial. I love a sandwich in which the stuff inside comes falling out the edge onto your plate as if to say " Eat me! I am sooo good I have actually left the bread to see you!" This is what we got today! It was worth every single penny. My youngest daughter asked for a Tuna Melt which was not on the menu. The server Vanessa asked several questions to make sure she got just what she wanted. " A croissant or a different type of bread? What kind of cheese? Would you like us to press it down like a real tuna melt or not? " That's a helluva a lot of questions for an item not even on their menu. It was delivered perfectly and she gobbled it up sitting in the sun, watching the Mariners and sipping her virgin Mango Daiquiri. Bliss is a word that comes to mind. The live entertainment today is what made this visit to Marina Jack even more wonderful and memorable than some in the past. It was as if Jimmy Buffet, James Taylor and Art Garfunkel had morphed into one man and serenaded us all through lunch. His name? CHRIS OTTO !!!! This guy is amazing, I mean "sing along, tap your toes, have fond memories of the concerts you've seen" amazing. My seventy something mom was grooving and carrying on like I hadn't seen in years. He is the kind of performer you hope has the utmost success and I was just damn glad to have heard him at all. Thank you Mr. Otto for making what was an already perfect setting just that much better. On one last note our server Vanessa was off the charts as far as attentiveness, kindness and efficiency goes. She complemented my girls on their manners and made a special stop back to our table ( one of at least four) just to ask them how they liked their virgin daiquiris. She had a bright bubbly personality, great knowledge of the menu and accommodated our every wish.... although there are not too many more things one could possibly want or wish for sitting bay side, in a gulf breeze sipping rum, singing along to a Jack Johnson cover with the people you love the most. Many many thanks Marina Jack for the memories.

Seems like most of the poor reviews are from diners that went to the restaurant in season so maybe the kitchen was overwhelmed? We go for lunch and love it. Beautiful view. Reasonable prices. The open air bar is a great place for drinks and the piano bar is fun. Valet parking is a plus!

I went to Marina Jacks to celebrate my birthday with my girls. We made reservations and ate on the second floor. We loved the ambiance and looking over the water with the boats and beautiful sky was a huge treat. The restaurant has a very fresh and open feeling. We ordered the calamari as an appetizer and thought they were so light and tasty. We ordered the NY strips for dinner and they were tender and juicy. The staff was friendly and attentive. We had a very enjoyable dining experience and would recommend this restaurant for any special occasion.

The view rocked, but alas, you can't eat the view. (I tried. They frown on licking the windows). The food was terrible and the bill was OUTRAGOUS! Stay away unless you are going for drinks.

It's alright. The food and drinks were fine. The view on the deck is great, but be prepared to smell lots of boat fuel, since it is an active marina. If all you want is drinks, go to the O'Leary's tiki bar that's on the south side of the Sarasota Island Park & Marina instead.

We went to Marina Jack for sunset drinks and pre dinner snacks. Lots of choices of specialty drinks all average at best. My Cabernet was poor. Tacos came with too small amount of salza from Cosco, I believe. Shrimp (how can you mess up shrimp?) came with a pre containered cocktail sauce and a container of flavorless horshradish (how long does it take to let horseradish get old and flavorless?) Our waiter was pleasant but, shall I say, less than professional. Why go again? ....The view and sunset.

I was in town visiting my grandpa recently and this is where he wanted to take us. I am a simpleton so this was a little ritzy for me but I enjoyed it. Valet parking is a plus if you're lazy I guess... or like being doted on. We went upstairs into the dinning area and I immediately felt under dressed compared to the staff but it's not something I care about too much seeing as I'm going here to spend at least 30 bucks a person if not more. Our waiter was extremely formal, kinda stuffy but nice and efficient none the less, they even pulled out my chair and placed my napkin on my lap. We didn't order an appetizer although they were tempting, I ordered scallops and muscles pesto which was very very yummy. My brother and mom ordered a shrimp fettuccine dish that I tried and loved. I was definitely not disappointed with the food, they had very good bread as well and the salad came with very fresh veggies. It is a very nicely decorated establishment with a great food and a great view. I only wish the wait staff were a little more... approachable?

Again, just like the rest of Florida restaurants, I feel like I'm paying for the view, not for the food. Marina Jack's was actually pretty nice, but to pay $10 for a chicken ceasar was a little too much, especially when it was paltry in portion. The BBQ pulled pork sandwich tasted a little dry (weirdly enough). The chicken quesadilla wasn't bad at all actually, so try that! Great seating right off of the pier... so dock your boat and grab a bite to eat. Just fork over some cash in the end.
