Le Macaron always called my name with it's bright lively colors, and it's pretty little macarons and colorful perfect chocolates. I finally gave it a try when I was walking through St. Armand's Circle, my favorite shopping boutique area in Sarasota. I tried several flavors including lemon, white chocolate, and some others. The flavors look amazing, and original. I found the texture to be nice as well as original in itself. They were pretty good, but then again, I definitely have my sweet tooth. I do feel that they can be quite pricey, but a nice once in a while treat, or gift for someone. I would go back, but it would be once in a while. I think it is definitely something to try.

High end chocolate and macaroons. Cappuccino was smooth and flavorful. Pricey, but a nice indulgence.

Do you love to eat delicious macaroons? The you'll this place. From rose and lavender to columbium coffee and rasa berry they'll have something for everyone.

The taste is good and I give them credit for the unusual flavors. We enjoyed the Rose and Pistachio the best. We tried the basil, hazelnut, caramel, and lavender. The prices are about consistent (maybe $0.10 more than what we are normally used to).

Their rose macarons, coffee macarons and their basil white chocolate macarons are to die for. Their gelato are also extremely good! Especially their Violet flower gelato! It has this delicate floral flavor and its delicious! Their frozen yogurt with apricot jam is my favorite though! The even sell croissants and chocolate bread. Everything that they sell are just superb!

LOVE the salted caramel and pistachio macaron. If I am ever anywhere near Sarasota, I have to stop here

Over the top great!!!! Had breakfast here one morning on our way home from Siesta Key. I cannot say enough good things about it. I had an Almond filled croissant and my boyfriend a a chocolate filled one. Both were awesome!!! Also shared 6 macaroons. All were tasty!!! Rose and salted Carmel were are favorite but I'm pretty sure you can't go wrong in this place!!!

I've eaten at my share of fancy french restaurants but admittedly had never tried a macaron until coming here. My husband and I got a six pack of macarons. We tried the salted caramel, madagascar vanilla bean and espresso. They tasted super fresh and definitely fancy. My husband devoured them but for me, they were too sweet. I'm not sure if that is the case for all macarons but I just couldn't eat more than a bite.

YUM! I loved stopping in here a bit ago - hubs and I picked out 1/2 a dozen and enjoyed every single one...bonus, the rose (yes, ROSE) flavored variety were small, so the gal working there gave us a bonus macaron.

This was my first time trying macarons so I don't have anything to compare it to. They were pretty pricey for such a tiny little confection but they were very tasty. My favorites were the coffee and lemon. Will def be back next time I visit the area!

This little place is ridiculous. A must try, so cute and the macarons were so good. I didn't realize that a serving was one and ordered four, after 2 bites into the second one I had to get a box. The raspberry and the vanilla were perfect. Thanks again!

I'm not an expert on Pastries but we have traveled many times to France and Italy and have sampled from different bakeries in most towns we traveled through. The selection of pastries was limited to croissants and macarons. This is not a breakfast restaurant but a great place to stop for a cafe latte and a macaron. What we had was great, owners are very friendly, and the place was clean. The only reason I'm not giving it 4 stars is because the selection of other pastries (not including the macarons) the morning we arrived was limited to three types of croissants.

I happened to stumble upon this little bit of France by accident on a Saturday morning around 10AM. While they have an enormous selection of macarons, they also have amazing French pastries and the best capuccino. The owner had just finished baking the Pain au Chocolat, which was still warm! French pastry doesn't get better than this in the U.S. (and I have traveled everywhere). The friendly owners are from Provence and I was instantly transported back to France with the first bite. It's heaven in your mouth. I would move to Sarasota just to be near this little shop!!

We wandered in here lazily while burning time, avoiding housework at home one Saturday afternoon. Oh my. Oh me. We were so glad we did. These macarons are a little piece of heaven. Like the other reviewer, Craig H, we bought a six pack for $10.60. We thought it was a bit of an indulgence at that price, but we have a history of wanting to try this famous French desert. As soon as we tried one, we understood instantly what a steal that price was . The crust was perfectly chewy and light. OMG, so delightful. The filling was the perfect amount of creamy perfection. Of the ones we tried, I'd have to say that mint is a must-not-miss. I also adored the vanilla bean. You can't go wrong with any of them though, I imagine. What a treat. The couple who run the place are fabulous. So enthusiastic and eager to teach Americans about this lovely bit of sweet perfection. Make them happy and pronounce macaron correctly. It's not a "macaroon." It's a mac-a-rohn. The chocolates on display next to the must-not-miss macarons were a feast for the eyes. So beautiful--like tiny sculptures. Being there, hearing the couple speak glowingly in English and French about their product, seeing the beauties bathing seductively in the glow of the display case, and eating the macarons, finally, in a moment of culinary bliss--Well, I just have to say the experience was transporting. Highly recommended. We're planning a date in the near future with Le Macaron as the feature attraction. I hope this place survives and earns a reputation that brings folks from miles around. It's that good, folks.

I stopped into Le Macaron while on vacation in the Sarasota area and fell in love with the shop. The macarons were delicious - especially the crunchy hazelnut and the walnut flavors. We bought six macarons for $10.60 - a good price given the macarons are made with fresh and all natural ingredients. They offer fourteen flavors including ginger bread, raspberry and bitter chocolate. They also offer a selection of chocolates by Norman Love. Each cost $1.60 or you can buy a metal gift-box full of your favorites. I picked up an assortment, and all were tasty. They also sold gelato, freshly baked pastries, espresso and an assortment of beverages. The couple that own the store are from Aix-en-Provence, France. And are extremely nice. Go in, eat some goodies, and strike up a conversation.

Beautiful and delicious macarons! The chocolates from Norman Love are gorgeous and I'll have to try them next time. Minus one star for the unfriendly high school kid behind the counter.

This trendy little shop was a new addition since my last visit to Sarasota. I was so intrigued I had to go in and check it out. Offering amazing French macarons, beautifully decorated chocolates and coffee and tea, this shop offers little, but what it does, it does well. The macarons were incredible. Described on their website as looking like small, round shells made from fresh ground almonds and soft meringue, I dubbed them a tiny bit of heaven. I tried three. The Madagascar vanilla was great. The ginger chocolate was good. And the raspberry was my favorite. They were a bit pricey at $1.70 per cookie, but honestly worth every penny. I may even order some online as I am now remembering them so fondly my mouth is watering!

Whenever my girlfriend and I come to Sarasota we stop stop in this place at least 3 or 4 times a trip. We love it. Everything tastes fantastic. Definitely worth your time and money to stop in.

It's true.. these tiny sweets are extremely tasty... next time, I'll go in for the works, which for me would be gelato, macarons, and coffee.. And the place is so pretty.. I love the decor.

Located in the heart of Sarasota's "high-end" tourist location, St. Armand's Circle, it has the benefit of being on the walking path of many tourists. The macaroons were good though, and that is what matters. We ordered espresso as well but it was from one of those pod machines.

  • Caron S.

So good. So, so, so good! Went with a white chocolate basil (heavenly combo) macaron and a praline macaron, and neither disappointed. Making macarons is not easy, hence the high price point, but they are delicious when done well. And I am still day dreaming about the flavorful basil + white chocolate duo. Stop in if you're on St. Armands Circle, it's a must.

Could a macaron be the highlight of our trip to the gulf? Yes, friends, it can. This place is great. We talked quite a bit with the owner and it's clear he has a passion for what he does. They have all the usual flavors and a few unexpected like chestnut, walnut, and the undisputed star of the macaroon world, basil. Yes, basil. Try it, you will love it. If you don't I will gladly eat the rest. Bonus, there is a store on Park Ave in Winter Park as well, just a few miles from where we live :)

So good. Their macaron standard is high quality. I was in Paris three days before visiting Sarasota, and Le Macaron's macarons are just as good as the ones I had in Paris, if not better. I ordered the violet gelato, which I cannot recommend enough. It was amazing and dreamy. As for the macarons, I ordered the box of six: ginger, pistachio, vanilla bean, rose, lavender, and basil. Each was absolutely amazing, but here is a review of each individually. Ginger: The only part that struck me as "gingery" is the center filling. When you get to the center, it is very gingery and spicy, so I would only recommend it to those who really love ginger. Pistachio: Absolutely amazing. I would recommend it to everyone (who doesn't have a nut allergy). It also had beautiful green color. Vanilla bean: If I did it over again, I would have ordered another type of macaron instead of vanilla. It struck me as too plain and while it was delicious, it did not compare to the uniqueness of the other flavors. You can see speckels of vanilla bean in the macaron, which somehow elevated the experience of it. Rose: THE BEST. It is so good. Do not under any circumstances pass up the rose flavor. Lavender: Very strong. Almost like eating lavender soap or hand lotion. It was delicious, but definitely a bit of an acquired taste. I would only recommend it to those who like, well...eating lavender. Basil: Phenomenal. If you like basil even just a little bit, try this. It is so unique and refreshing. It tastes like you are actually chewing on a basil leaf. It is pretty unexplainable. Do not pass up the opportunity. Lastly, a note on price: They seem expensive, but after spending some time in Paris, they are actually cheaper than most that I saw!

The chocolate hazelnut macaron was amazing. Light and fluffy with a crisp exterior. Probably could've consumed 30 of them...if they didn't cost $2 each that is (happy Hanukkah to me?). Cappuccino from a high quality nespresso machine, but no flavored latte options just fyi.

  • Rachel S.

Two words: Le Obsession. I've only tried their macaroons, but they were so delicious, that is probably the only thing I will ever order again. These were the best I've had so far, and they are naturally gluten-free! They have an airy crispy shell and a chewy creamy center. Just perfection. I split a 6-pack with my husband, and we fought over every bite. We tried: hazelnut, coffee, lemon, chocolate, salted caramel and the white chocolate basil. All were divine, but I loved the hazelnut and lemon ones best. We will be back for sure. I plan to try every single flavor. At $2 a pop I'll have to pace myself...too bad they don't have a gift registry. ;-)

I've tried macaroons from top french bakeries, and these one of my favorite. They make top 3 for sure. Perfectly crunchy outside and soft inside, not too sweet, just perfect

  • Kathy D.

This place is amazing!! Definitely the place to stop if you're in the area. One bite of their macaroon is like heaven and its the best macaroon I have ever tasted! I also got to try their crossiant which was also nice and awesomely flakey as well as their madellines, which were just freshly baked and moist. Mmm mmm mmm so good! They also serve Norman Love chocolates that I really really wanted to get, but I was afraid it was going to melt on our drive back but they look so delicious, just going to have to wait next time! They also serve gelatos too, which is sweet and great. So if your a sweet tooth, this is where you can get your fixing!

As a unapologetic Francophile there was no way I was going to miss a trip to Le Macaron when I visited St. Armand's circle a couple of weeks ago. I have a true obsession with the darling little pastel cookies, after having enjoyed them at Pierre Herme and Laduree in Paris and trying repeatedly (and failing miserably with each attempt) at making them at home. The namesake cookies at Le Macaron were no disappointment and are the best I've found in the Tampa Bay area. I tried an assortment of flavors, of which there were many to choose from, and found my favorites to be the Black Madagascar Vanilla, the Caramel Salted Butter, the Crunchy Praline and the Citron. The shop itself is very pretty and their packaging is quite nice too - I think an assortment of their macarons would make a gorgeous hostess or birthday gift for the sophisticated lady or gent that has everything. In addition to the dozen or so flavors of macarons available, they also have a beautiful assortment of gourmet chocolates and about 5 or 6 different types of French pastries to choose from including croissants, pain au chocolate, mini apple tarts and Madeleines. I only tried the macarons so I can't comment on the taste of the others but they looked very good, fresh and authentic (the croissants appeared very buttery!). If you're stopping at Le Macaron for dessert, they also have a full espresso bar too. I can't say when I'll be making my next trip from Tampa to Sarasota but one thing is for sure, when I do I will be stopping at Le Macaron! Just wanted to update this review to say that apparently Le Macaron just opened a shop next to Nordstrom at the International Plaza Mall in Tampa (!!!) - which is an amazing thing, or a very bad thing, depending on how you look at it. Still, I'm incredibly stoked ;-)

My friends and I stop here every time we hit the Lido Key Beach. Their specialty is the macaroon, so we stock up on that ish! We have tried macaroons everywhere else, and no one else can make them as moist, flavorful, delicate and perfect as Le Macaron. The owners are as sweet as their macaroons themselves! The macaroons are about average $1.50 each when you buy at least 20. They are around $1.60~$1.70 when you buy less. Tis more reason to stock up! They are planning on opening a second store in either Orlando or Tampa. PLEASE, BE ORLANDO! But I'm sure if they do open in Orlando, I'm going to have a huge macaroon shaped stomach shortly after.

This is a nice looking little store in St. Armand's Circle. I had seen one of these places open up in International Plaza in Tampa so I was curious to see what they were like. Inside they have gelato, William Dean chocolates, and of course macarons for sale. There's definitely some sticker shock when you see how much the macarons cost. It's almost twelve dollars for only six tiny macarons! Once or twice a year I splurge on Norman Love chocolates and they're worth every penny so I kept an open mind about trying them. After taking my first bite of a macaron I immediately thought......."I don't get it". They taste "ok" I suppose, but certainly not worth almost two dollars for two tiny bites. I tried two other flavors and got the same reaction. Next time I come back it will be for gelato.

Tried an assorted box of 6: Raspberry, French truffle mascarpone, pistachio, gingerbread, basil white chocolate, salted caramel. All are worth trying but in my honest opinion, I still preferred the marcarons I tried in New York City.

I just read an article about how macarons are becoming the "in" thing so I was happy to stumble upon this place while strolling around St. Armands Circle. There were a ton of different flavors to choose from, but since I was a newbie I decided to go with the vanilla one. Yum! Crispy, airy, light, and a perfectly sweet, creamy center. It was $1.82. A fun treat and nice to have something different than a cupcake for once (although my heart still belongs to cupcakes!)

  • Mio S.

5 stars!! These are the best macarons I had outside of Paris - even better than some of them in Paris. The chewy texture in the middle is just perfect, and the subtle favors are spot on. The charming service is added bonus. I am a one happy customer!!

When my boyfriend and I were walking along and talking and I saw this place, I stopped mid-sentence and ditched him right there on the sidewalk to run inside. You just can't get good French pastries where we're from. There was a very nice selection inside, and we ended up each getting a small gelato--his was chocolate and mine was pistachio--and I also got a croissant and a rose macaron. The gelatos were wonderful and the croissant was to die for. I liked the macaron a lot and will be back this weekend to try some different flavors. The little outdoor seating was very nice and cute, and I liked that the woman behind the counter had us sit and relax and brought everything out to us. Definitely recommend going here.

We had a 1/2 dozen macaroons that we split and all I can say is they tasted like the ones we bought in Paris, France. Perfect texture and consistency with a little goodness in the middle - hashtag yeaaahaa

Yummy macarons and a nice selection of chocolates. Great place to get boxed chocolates for gifts. I really like this place!

  • Emmanuel R.

Beyond Stellar. Fine chocolates and Huge french macaroons in almost any flavor you can imagine. That variety also extends in the chocolates which beautifully made. I ordered a pistachio macaroon and a couple of truffles which include Peanut Butter and Jelly and Cheesecake. The chocolate were perfectly made and had nice chocolate to filling ratios and were very shiny so you could tell that the chocolate was tempered by someone that was very knowledgeable about chocolate.

This is a wonderful place to stop and have coffee and pastries! They specialize in French pastries, and they do them right! You will find something for everyone's sweet tooth here, and never be disappointed. I visited here in June of 2011 with my wife and her cousin, and we had a relaxing coffee and some pastries. Simply very nice people, and high quality service and products. You simply must stop there if you visit Lido Island in Sarasota.

This is the best place to get dessert in southwest Florida. Macarons are delicious. All the flavors are amazing. I especially love the...nevermind, I love them all. I recommend getting a box of several. I did this with the intention of trying one and then giving the rest to my neighbor as a gift...and then slowly enjoyed all of them with great focus and mindfulness. And the gelato GIVES ME LIFE. Oh my goodness, the lemon merengue! Best gelato ever, anywhere, including Italy. Hit Le Macron up for sure.

Gelato was slamming! This place is a little gem close to the beaches. The day we went in it was pouring out but the sunshine was beaming in this place. lol If you are ever in Sarasota check this place out. worth every penny.

Love this place! Their croissants and trufflesare really good too but I go there for the love of macarons. :) Until Le macron came to town, I gave up on finding a decent maraons. My friend in Orlando loves their macarons so much she always asks me to bring some every time I visit her. I am glad that we have this place in Sarasota!

  • Alyssa D.

Beautiful selection of macaroons. Pain au chocolat was very good for the 2 bucks I spent on it. Not an enormous selection of non-macaroon pastries, but, hey, it's called "Le Macaron" for a reason. Service was quick and friendly. Stop by if you're in St. Armand's Circle.

Such a cute shop that I wish were more common in parts that I frequent! We happened upon this shop while on vacation and walking around the circle. Le Macaron is this boutique-y cafe that sells macarons, gelato, chocolates, and beverages. I can't speak about the gelato and chocolates and I certainly am not a macaron expert, but I LOVED the macarons, which I thought were the best ones that I've ever had. They had a really nice texture -- carefully straddling fluffy and chewy -- and sandwiched a heavenly filling. I tasted the vanilla bean, praline, coffee, and ginger and liked each and every one of them. The man who appeared to be the owner and who helped us seemed SO very kind and helpful. The only critique I had was that their hot chocolate was more like hot cocoa and a bit overpriced at that. But their espresso was well made. All in all, I am a bit jealous of Sarasota (never thought I would ever feel that) of having a macaron shop. But if my intuition serves me correctly, I feel like it won't be long until they become the next hot thing.

This French pastry shop is awesome! We always stop here whenever we visit St. Armand's Circle and stock up on their delicious macarons, chocolates, and gelato! The store itself has a nice presentation to it and reflects an upscale experience. Prices are pretty reasonable and you certainly get your money's worth here with the flavor here. Love this place!

A cheerful, contemporary, cosmopolitan setting to savor the delicious macarons and gelato made on-site, and the European-style cappuccino. The owners are passionate about Le Macaron. This is our favorite place for a special breakfast or dessert.

  • J. Peter F.

My girlfriend and I sought out a good morning cup of coffee along with some coffee noms in the morning. We found this place. Their coffee is delicious, but that's because they use a Nespresso machine which tastes almost as good as the top-of-the-line big espresso machines (and I'm a coffee snob). What really took us were the macarons -- very fresh, very tasty, perfect texture that just crumbles in your mouth and melds with the filling. The pistachio variety is especially good, but don't pass up the vanilla if you get a chance. We also got an almond croissant -- the thing was practically dripping with butter and it was delicious.

This tiny little bakery has the most heavenly French macarons. The very friendly owners are from Provence, France and have a passion about their baking and their shop. I had the Madagascar vanilla macaron and it was perfection. It was a combination of light and chewy, resulting in a creamy goodness unlike any other I have ever had. There are an assortment of flavors, all made with the finest ingredients. They also have gelato, fine chocolates by Norman Love, coffee and tea. Do not miss this little gem of a shop!

Great gelato in a tiny little shop something tasty for every day and time :). My personal favorite was the pineapple gelato. Not too much to say about the place but they seemed to have a lot of other things as well, I'd go for the gelato alone :).

  • Meredith B.

I've never had macaroons so I can't really compare. It's basically the most delicious non fork desert I have ever had. And I eat a lot of cookies! The pistachio was amazing and so was the coffee and the sea salt caramel. At 13.50 for 6 it is a treat but so so worth it. Apparently it's also a franchise if that sort of thing interests you. The cookies are so light and the fillings are fluffy and the outside edge is perfectly crunchy chewy. I'm sitting outside thinking about getting six more.....

    (5)
  • Felice C.

Box of 6 for ~$15 Don't know much about macarons and how airy/chewy/not bumpy they're supposed to be...but mmmmm macarons. All of them were divine. I chose the Cassis (blackberry currant), Coconut White Chocolate, Praline Hazelnut, Pistachio, Lavender and Basil White Chocolate. My favorites were Cassis and Coconut White Chocolate!

    (5)
  • Shannon M.

I brake for macarons, and this place has good ones! Not quite up to the quality I've had in Paris, but definitely a worthy competitor. The cookies come in all sorts of unusual flavors, so we bought a box of 8 (Grand Marnier Chocolate, Crystalized Ginger, Black Vanilla, Pistachio, Mint White Chocolate and Salted Caramel). I wasn't surprised that pistachio was my favorite (it usually is), but none of them were bad. This is apparently a chain; we saw another location in the UTC mall later in the day. They also serve gelato, so no matter what your sweet needs are they can be fulfilled! Le Macaron est magnifique!

  • Jenn S.

This is the second time I have gone to this place while visiting Sarasota in the last couple years. I love macarons and these are really good! I think my favorite is always the chocolate and the caramel. The place itself is really posh looking. Clean and it really showcases the beautiful colors of the beautiful sugary snacks. However, I must say that I ordered and ice coffee and I was really confused when I got an EXTREMELY sugary, almost white beverage that tasted like chocolate milk. I like my coffee black, this was not an iced coffee so just keep that in mind :)

What more can you ask for when you are already in paradise at Lido Beach and St. Armand's Circle? A little bit of heaven at Le Macaron! Where do I even begin? Everything is just pure unadulterated goodness. Costly for a box for six macaroons? Perhaps. But, I certainly don't mind paying for anything, if it is worth it. And believe me, these are worth it! Oh, and if you check in on Yelp, you get 5% off a box! We chose the Salted Caramel, Lavender, Coconut, Belgian Chocolate, and the Madagascar Vanilla. I had a taste of all of them...positively orgasmic! The Salted Caramel is definitely my favorite and I foresee a visit to a Le Macaron in the near future! If you want to treat yourself, do yourself justice and buy some pure unadulterated goodness at Le Macaron!

This place is in a great location. After walking and shopping around St. Armand's Circle, I decided to try the macarons here. When you walk into the pastry shop there are a few tables and a couch with macaron-shaped pillows. I found this to be very cute and if I did have the time, I probably would have stayed and had my macaron inside. Regardless, there are a variety of macarons...the vivid colors don't always give away the flavors so it's a good thing to ask what the popular flavors. I ordered a box of 6: pistachio, rose, belgian chocolate, madagasgar black vanilla, coconut, and caramel. I did not eat any macarons the day I ordered. I actually tried it the day after. My first bite was of the black vanilla. The macaron still tasted very fresh and with the right amount of vanilla. My surprise came when about 3 days later they still tasted as good as if I had just picked them up. Since I'm in NY, any craving for a macaron will be a trip to Laduree. But if I was in Florida, definitely Le Macaron.

  • Helen L.

This is my favorite macaron place! Much better than the ones I've tried in New York City. They have a pretty decent selection. They also have chocolate, gelato, and pastries. My favorites are the lemon and raspberry macarons.

This place was horrible worst customer service lady working was rude and don't ask for her opinion on the macaroons the only thing that was pleasant was the macaroon

St Armand's proves to us again how classy it is with the addition of Le Macaron. I purchased one dainty Macaron for about $2.50 and split it with a friend. It was small, so I would have preferred to pay a bit less. With that said, it certainly was rich with texture and flavor. I would go back.

  • Louise S.

great fresh macarons. Store was not to busy which made it nice but the one young woman who was working there seemed very uninterested in answering any questions about the products. There other young woman was great with the customers. I have been to the store in winter park and it was great. The only reason this is a 3 and not a 4 was the young worker.

I had never tried a macaron before until I went here and wow! Next time I have one it will have a lot to live up to after this place!!! Cute shop and friendly! Macarons were all amazing and luckily we were back home when I tried them or else I would have gotten so many more!!! The black vanilla was my favorite and I could eat that every day!

Walking around enjoying the day at St. Armand's circle & decided to stop in. The flavored passion fruit water was refreshing! And the carmel salted butter macaroon was good. Worth a try! I'll stop back in for some of the yummy looking gelato.

This was a quaint little store in the St. Armands Circle that sells a variety of French inspired treats. This ranged from various gourmet chocolates, cool and creamy French gelato, croissants and pains aux chocolates. I was set on getting the macarons and chose the pistachio, Belgian dark chocolate, chocolate praline, and Columbian coffee. They were all well balanced in flavor and were well made - light crisp outside with a light, soft inside enveloping a tasty center. I forgot the young lady's name, but she was a wonderful help in selecting flavors and was very nice in my short experience there. Definitely worth dropping by to see the selections :D They are a tad pricey ($2.10 per macaron), but the quality is worth every bit!

Not bad for the what it is. Croissants were probably better than the macarons. Nothing beats Laudree or my personal all time favorite Cafe Pouchkine. They have the best macarons.
