Stopped here while visiting Sarasota for the weekend for some afternoon tea. This is not a stuffy English tea room. It's a Tea House, more modern yet very comfortable. They have tables with padded chairs and little rooms where groups can sit (one has bean bag chairs). My husband and I enjoyed the earl grey cream and English breakfast tea with a spinach and ricotta cheese puff pastry and a strawberry tart. Everything was delicious! If I lived in Sarasota is be here all the time!!

I'm really happy that Sarasota has a tea house in her town but it smells new and needs improvements. For any tea experts, don't walk in with any high expectations for this place or you will be sadly disappointed because I was disappointed. The staff are all smiles, very friendly, and helpful. They are very happy about showing you what they have to offer. Now, here's the downside and my review is only about the service for today. It was a rainy Tuesday late afternoon. +1, Private rooms with cozy seats and free Wi-Fi! :) -1, too Americanized atmosphere. -1, for any tea experts who have had tea for a long time, you will know the way they brew their tea here needs improvement. -1, Prices are too high since they are selling mediocre tea and the way they are preparing it, as well. -1, they were out of eateries and almost every beverage (except for a couple hot teas) -1, use of microwave heating foods and cheap tea leaves (eek! Me thinks not!) I hope my review does not offend or discourage anyone who has come to like this place because that isn't my intention. My hopes for this place are to see improvements over the years. Better knowledge and proper brewing of the tea. Be more prepared in the inventory and menu items because customers expect you to know what you are selling to them. A message for the owner, if he reads this. Feel free to send me a message, I would love to talk about suggestions on improving your business! :) -------- Hi Gyula! Thanks for taking time out of your busy schedule to write to me. I'm happy you read my review. My opinion was based on the day I dined at Elixir but rest assured, it isn't my permanent perspective about the overall place. I would love to come back and give it another chance, and write an updated review about it too. :) As I recalled, the day I went was your day off and I probably would have had a better time if I spoke with you that day because the manager that claimed he knew business management actually showed he didn't know anything about managing a tea shop much less anything about the tea (but he was super adorable). Your wife made no attempt to engage in a conversation with me nor about her knowledge on teas. The teas that were served to me were lukewarm, cold, flavorless (like I was just drinking water not tea), and it did not taste fresh at all. There were barely any color of tea inside the pot, little to no tea leaves, and the type of teapot set used to serve the tea doesn't help the tea itself to be kept hot. The teapot set is what I called out to be too Americanized and because it seemed awfully out of place. Your set up and decor of the tea house is beyond gorgeous but the teapot sets were slightly disappointing (from an artistic point of view). From my tea drinking experience, I grew up in a household and associated with close families who still grow and brew their own teas in their home countries. They even have secret family recipes! :) As you would know, or I hope you do, tea is very intricate tender-loving-care, it requires mending and high maintenance but only tea enthusiasts would really know anyway, lol. The Formosa tea leaves in the jar that were brought to my attention actually helped me understand the problem of the tea. The red flags were: the discoloration (it was white-faded as though mold had already begun feasting upon it, fresh tea leaves are not supposed to look this way) and the scent (the sense of freshness and aroma were lacking). This isn't your fault but I would double check with the distributor or whoever is selling you this tea, they are not selling you the freshest bunch. When you have eaten at many restaurants from all over the world, there isn't any mistake, because one can tell the difference between fresh food and microwaved food. :) Oh dear, I hope no one microwaves their tea, LOL! Having almost to close to nothing at hand to serve for your customers leaves a poor impression. Regardless that your business inventory were switching brands, and since you were aware of this matter then how come you didn't choose to close the doors that day to restock and then reopen when you were prepared? I know you have your reasons and I respect that. But all in all, Gyula, to be fair, I've gone ahead and made this review into a two-star since you were kind enough to connect with me and that means a lot to me. If there is something you still need clarification on or suggestions for, let me know and I'll be glad to explain. :) As for Marta M, I appreciate you took the time to make a Yelp account just to write to me. :) To answer your question, I only write reviews on locations where I have dined at and/or eaten at, and requested service from but I'm always open minded to give them a second chance to impress me. I wish you the best in your future Yelp reviews (that is, if you plan on writing any). However, please keep the hatred on a minimal level. The next offense, I will be happy to report you to the Yelp Moderators. Happy Yelping! :)

Amazing atmosphere. Amazing service. Amazing people. Amazing tea/food/everything. If you aren't going to this place every day you're in Sarasota, you should be ashamed of yourself.

What a wonderful experience! The staff is lovely. So eager to have you enjoy your time at Elixir. The teas they offered as samples as a cold beverage were great! Flavorful and unique. In spite of the warmth of a Sarasota evening, we decided on hot beverages. My wife's cappuccino was declared, 'The best I have every had!". It conjured memories of mornings in Europe. My espresso was excellent. A nice cookie that accompanied the hot beverages really hit the spot. Sadly, we had over indulged at dinner and found a full piece of their lovely layered dessert a bit too much for us. The generous staff had us sample a piece and it will certainly bring us back again. This is a lovely addition to Sarasota and we are eager to return. Such a wonderful place to relax and recharge!

I can't believe I was the only one in here. It's incredible. The people who run it are so attentive, with lots of free samples. Delicious moist pastries, elegantly prepared lattes. So many people passed this by without going in while I was there; big mistake. Go check this place out.

We wandered in tonight to hear a wonderful jazz guitar duo in the vein of Django Reinhardt. We met the owners, an interesting couple of women from Hungary. Wonderful teas, private rooms if you want to bring a group. Very friendly people. We'll be back.

This place is so good that I had to pinch myself to make sure I wasn't dreaming. They say is a tea house, but for me is way more than that. It's the place where I can relax at one of their many private rooms, beautifully decorated with low lights and soft music and comfy couches while I read (or even nap)... Unreal. Staff is very friendly, food it's well served and tasty, and the tea... Best mango tea you will ever have. It's a must go in Sarasota. Enjoy!

Get the marlenka cake. Omg best cake ever wow. I want more now. I can't stop thinking about it! So I really Love this place. Perfect place to do some work as they have an ample array of chairs and working spaces including two individual rooms that would be nice for studying w a friend or something. The tea selection is the real deal. For serious connoisseurs. they have a few diff types of sencha, each one being better Than the last, which I didn't even know was possible. And they have green mate from Brazil. Absolutely amazing! I love the caffeine of mate and the vegetal flavor of green tea and this is a great combo. I should have bought some to take home. I also should have bought more marlenka cake. Omg. You have to try it. It's a honey milk cake from the Czech Republic and it's soft and not too sweet. It's so perfect. I want a hole bunch of them stacked up as a birthday cake.

Cute tea shop with private rooms to have a relaxing cup of joe or aromatic tea. They have a good variety of teas. I had the ginger tea and the latte both were good. The interior of this place is decorated with local artists' works which adds of bit of charm to the experience.

The best tea house in Sarasota. Owned by a sweet Hungarian woman, who is very kind. The tea assortment is very good, and they have good selection of gourmet pastries and sandwiches and salads. Best part are the little themed rooms in the rear for meetings, visiting or chilling out with a warm cup of tea.

Fantastic! This is exactly what I was looking for. Nice relaxing atmosphere with tranquility rooms to sit on cushions and enjoy an amazing array of teas or sit at a table with some very comfortable chairs. They don't have a huge selection of food but what they do have is perfectly complimented with the teas.

What a hidden gem!! My fiancé and I were craving tea and were led to this place based on the previous reviews. Such a great list of teas from around the world with great explanations of each. We sat in one of the private rooms complete with soft carpet side tables and comfy beanbags. I could have sat there for hours drinking different types of tea. This will be my go to tea/coffee spot as well as study/work spot!

I spent a lovely afternoon at Elixir getting to know a guy I met on Match.com . I wanted something a little more creative than the usual Starbucks meeting spot and Elixir was perfect. We had a quiet corner where we could talk and sip our tea and coffee. We weren't hurried or hassled by the waitress. It's the perfect venue for conversation and sampling wonderful, exotic teas.

Great place. I love the sitting rooms, private and comfy. Nice place to come with a group of friends. Teas are great freshly brewed and quality loose leaf tea. You can buy by the oz and take home too. Friendly staff. Some cool books too. If I was still in school I'd study here all the time. Nice that they're open till 10
