Great atmosphere. Nice collection of local craft beers. I had a great arugula and pear salad. Others had the Caesar salad and the daily soup which were also excellent. We had kids with us and the slow service became a problem after awhile as it took a really long time to get our entrees. Several of us had mahi fish tacos and my wife ordered the scallops. Kids enjoyed the chicken fingers. We met Clayton on the way out and he was very nice and seems dedicated to the right stuff.

My wife and I liked so much that we went 3 times during our vacation. The staff is courteous, friendly, and helpful. The food is very good as well. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming while the decoration is a nice break from the "everything beach" elsewhere. The first time I had the grouper, a nice portion for a dinner, and my wife got the pasta primavera. The service was outstanding and we had a nice conversation with the owner. You can see he cares and likes his restaurant. The second time we got the shrimp lettuce wrap and fungi pizza. Both were amazingly good. If you do not know what to order, get these. The only problem however was that the paper underneath the pizza stuck to the pizza and couldn't be separated. It tasted ok for paper ;) We told our server and he took it out of the bill and, on top of that, gave my wife and aloe Vera lotion because we mentioned during our casual conversation that she overexposed to the sun that day. The last time we went for breakfast. The Siesta Key omelets is a good option.

I normally don't go to Siesta Key for a nice dinner because I feel most of the customers just come and go as tourists. But a friend of mine recommended that I try Clayton's siesta grille and we were blown away by the quality of food that we had. From the appetizer to the main course and dessert, everything was excellent. We are now regulars at Claytons and we enjoy trying different things every time. My wife & I think its great that the owner, Clayton, goes to work everyday and meets some of his patrons. Most restaurant owners don't even come to their restaurant much less go out and meet some of their customers. We love taking friends that come visit us because it's always a great experience. This is one of the best restaurants in Sarasota and I think it's really due to the fact that the owner takes such an interest in his customers and also some of the reviews here on Yelp.

My husband and five year old daughter read some random reviews about Clayton's and decided to give it a try! So. Glad. We. Did. For starters, we got the calamari. So good! I had the filet and my husband had the scallops. And we topped it all off with the creme brûlée. Everything was amazing. Can't wait to come back!!

The last time we came to Siesta Key, we stayed just down the street at Vista Hermosa for a week and never knew about Claytons. That was definitely unfortunate, as Claytons has some of the best food IN Siesta Key! I had their mahi mahi fish taco with salsa verde, and it may have been the best fish taco I've ever had. My wife had their burger (delicious), and my in-laws had their braised beef which was also awesome according to them. What prevented me from giving them a full 5 stars is that their patio (where we sat) is rather sparse. It almost felt like we were sitting in their parking lot. We'll definitely be back though, and next time, we'll try sitting indoor.

Have never had a bad meal here. Changed the menu and it is great. Had the lobster Benedict and it was incredible. Never in my wildest dreams would I thought of that combination but it was great. The atmosphere is so florida you have to check this place out. Make sure you check in on yelp for special.

For our appetizers, we shared the coconut shrimp; it was ok. For our dinner, I had the Grouper, one of my daughters had the fish tacos, my other daughter had the duck (looked a little over-done) and my husband had the hanger steak (a little under-done and my husband likes medium to rare) which was the special of the night. I really enjoyed the sauce that came with my dish and my daughter really loved the duck. For dessert, we shared the Banana's Foster which was really yummy. All in all, our food was delicious, and the service was pretty good.

I've been here a handful of times. Every time I have come here, I've never been disappointed, however last night was a different story. Which started out as a great dinner with appetizer (muscles and caesar salad), my boyfriends entree was a huge disappointment. He got the margarita pie (gross) and I got the scallops (very good). The waiter talked up the pizza saying it was very good, however it was not good at all (too cheesy, not a good crust, and did not taste like brick oven). Additionally the waiter came off slightly arrogant, however drinks were refilled and plates were cleared right away. He experience several hours of uncomfortableness in the restroom (TMI) as this was more of a four cheese pie than a margarita. Moral of the story, do not come here for pizza. Their seafood and short rib is where you should focus your attention.

We found this jem a day before our vacation was over :(... However we did get a chance to have dinner and breakfast. Loved their food, staff and atmosphere. The best was lobster Benedict... yummy. Enjoy.. However they are closed from 2pm to 4pm to set up for dinner.

This the best place on Siesta Key!!! Calamari is Awesome!!! Macadamia Nut Grouper with Bok Choy is so good!!!!

  • Jane S.

We had a party of 4 with variations of the menu and everyone very much enjoyed their meal. The crusted grouper was delicious! The management was attentive and helpful. Clean, fast, and courteous. We would definitely come here on our next vacation to Siesta Key!

Family really enjoyed this place. Appetizer: Gazpacho, coconut shrimp, tomato jam with goat cheese. All were flavorful and good, especially the tomato jam was a great balance of sweet and savory. I would get all of them again, 4/5. Main course: Duck with port cherries. A good sized portion and tasted good. My mother got the macadamia crusted fish and they did a sauce substitution for her due to allergies. Sign of a good chef who can whip up a new sauce on the spot and very thoughtful. Dessert: Dessert sampler of key line pie, macadamia nut brownie, creme brulee, and bananas foster. It's basically one portion of each cut up into smaller pieces. Tasted fine, nothing to write home about. Family felt this was one of the better restaurants in Siesta Key area!

Excellent dinner, staff, atmosphere. Owner very welcoming. Have been coming to siesta for 30+ years and have been looking for a place that prepares food with love. Found it!

  • Vanessa J.

Not really sure why they have 4 stars. Very middle of the road, just okay restaurant. Nice ambiance - akin to a Friday's- and pretty mainstream menu (sandwiches, burgers, salads). Nothing to write home about. Good for an easy meal with kids.

My family & I are huge foodies! We absolutely loved every item served. The staff & owner provided the three of us with a spectacular meal. We simply stumbled across Clayton's and were treated with a delish meal. Recommend to anyone in the area!

This place was great! I was in Siesta Key looking for a place for my friends birthday, found Clayton's on Yelp! and had to try it! My group of 6 friends loved every meal. We started off with the bruschetta and calamari and both were amazing! I had the Lobster Bolognese and it was great!! The menu said it was a spicy tomato sauce, but not spicy at all! (which is great because I am not a lover of spicy) The service was always great. Our waiter, Javier, was funny and very helpful with the menu. The atmosphere was nice too. The restaurant opens to their outdoor patio which I thought was nice. It was a nice temperature though, I'm not sure how that would feel on a rainy day or really hot day! Overall this was a great place to celebrate a special occasion!

3 1/2 stars is more appropriate. 4 of us came here for dinner. The food is good but definitely lacking in the season department; all of our dishes were bland. The staff is very nice. We ordered the Caesar Salad, good; Roasted and raw beet salad, also good, Diver Scallops; too salty but great texture and very fresh; Salsiccia pizza, just ok,. Macadamia nut grouper - no flavor; and Lobster on linguine (this was not on the menu but accommodated my request, ) The ambience is much nicer than one would expect from the exterior of the building. The artist (Ron Genta) has some very cool artwork adorning the walls. We want to give it another chance because there are other items on the menu we want to try. We will just have request some spices! :) I went a couple days later for breakfast. Decent for $9

Hands down the best fish chowder I have eaten anywhere in the world! Claytons is wonderful for many reasons: Clayton, the owner makes a point of saying hello and making one feel that they are valued guests, the chef is talented and every dish is brimming with complex flavor and great presentation, the atmosphere is local, friendly and casual, the prices, for the quality and caliber of food are modest and good value. Claytons is a local treasure with regulars who exchange friendly banter with Clayton and his staff as well as each other. This is the Kind of wonderful independent, family owned boutique restaurant that foodies as well as meat and potato lovers can converge upon and find a happy meeting ground. They also have a nice wine list!

LOVE LOVE THIS PLACE. ! Came to siesta key for vacation and came in for breakfast. The restraunt is decorated very tastefully with classic art pieces and the booths are really comfy.I had the corned beef hash Benedict and it was a dream come true. Homemade hollandaise was delicious. Claytons will definitely be on my intenerary for my next siesta key vacation...

I was very pleasantly surprised by this place! Admittedly I had low expectations anticipating the same old "close to the water, tourist trap, deep fried, going thru the motions 'cause they won't know any better FL dining experience"....BUT.....low and behold: The decor, ambiance and atmosphere were very nice. Nothing fancy but nice and casual with comfortable seating, a couple of TVs at the bar area and good booths. The walls had mostly local artist art for sale which fit the overall theme. The service was good. We had kind of a rough and tumble (been there for 10 years type of lady) helping us, who was no BS, but also very funny and very nice in her own style. The food: wow! Very good and totally unexpected. We had a mix: Blackened fish tacos, New England clam chowder and chocolate chip pancakes. All of it excellent. I would definitely go back and highly recommend this place.

Started off having a cup of crab and cheese soup (one of their daily creations) and it was to die for! I wish I could order it by the bucket. For my main course I had Trout Almandine which was cooked to perfection. Ended the night with a brownie dessert which was rich and complimented the meal nicely. Luckily I live close to this restaurant so I will be back without a question!

Food was good the service was not. We didn't get menus when we sat down. We had to get our own. We waited for 15+ min to place our order. For not being that busy it seemed to take a long time to get our food. Be aware that the Free Bloody Mary coupon does not apply if you use any vodka outside of the house vodka. The bad part is the waitress was not aware of the coupon and didn't point out the fact that having Tito's was going to void the coupon. Instead she asked what kind of vodka we want in the Bloody Mary.

From the pizzas to the salads to the best filet mignon in Sarasota, Clayton's always delivers exceptionally prepared food with the finest, freshest ingredients and creativity. Service is personal and professional. One of my favorite local spots. Try any of the pizzas prepared in the wood stove. The chopped Greek salad or Pear Arugula salads are not to be missed, and the filet mignon is so tender, you (almost) don't need a knife. Dessert wise, go for key lime pie, or the chocolate brownie with a scoop of vanilla ice cream. Sarasota Original for sure and proud of it!

Dinner was good but very slow and a bartender too busy having a good time at the bar at the people at the bar to make sure it's correctly. My drink you know alcohol and 86-year-old birthday girl got a double. The owner stop by the table next to us twice but never turn around and visit our table to see how things were. Guess his guest opinion doesn't matter to him. Very sad so cute nice and fun place

Back for the season with wonderful lunch ( Clayton Burger, Mahi Tacos, a cup of chowder ) with a wonderful welcoming smile. It's just a wonderful place to have a meal on Siesta Key.

Horrible owner! Beware, he is rude and treats people as though they are beneath him. If he treats his clients this way I can only imagine how he treats his employee's! I will never return to his establishment, and I will continue to pass along the word that he treats patrons horrible! As a business owner he should have better people skills!!

We had a great experience at Clayton's. We were just looking for a small bite to hold us over for the evening after a late lunch. As great as the food was, it was overshadowed by exceptional 5-star service, compliments of our server Diane. We popped in here on a Sunday afternoon to a half full restaurant. The menu had a lot of delicious sounding options. We were a little upset that we weren't hungry enough for a full dinner! The macadamia grouper sounded great. We will be certain to try it next time. We ordered the arugula and pear salad, coconut shrimp, and Prince Edward Island muscles. The salad was a well done version of a classic; lightly dressed arugula with pears, dried cranberries, Gorgonzola and candied pecans. The coconut shrimp stole the show. I am seldom interested enought by coconut shrimp to order them, but the inclusion of orange marmalade and cream cheese was intriguing. It was excellent; like a classed up version of crab Rangoon with a better meat ratio. The muscles were good but not outstanding. The white beans are actually garbanzo beans. It could've used a bit more garlic but it wasn't disappointing. All in all it was great and more than filled us up. We left a small midnight snack

We brought in our fresh catch from our fishing trip earlier in the day and had the chef prepared for us family-style. The fish was prepared perfectly in three different ways. And two side dishes were provided for this meal and they were equally as good. I can't tell youI can how much we are looking forward to our next visit to Clayton's with or without a fresh catch.

Out of all the years coming down here and we finally found out about this place from yelp! All week we weren't having that great of food so we decided to try this place. Best choice we have made since being in siesta key! We started off with salads which were great, had mahi tacos also amazing and ended with the banana foster desert. Great server as well. Overall cozy little place highly recommend ! Also all the art was so interesting, great things to look at while waiting on food!

My wife and I went to Claytons for her birthday dinner during our visit to Siesta Key. We had the most excellent meal. The service was great and we got a chance to meet Clayton himself. We liked it so much, we went back again the second night!

We were seated outside at five and placed our order about 15 minutes later. Our food did not arrive for an hour and 45 minutes despite multiple inquiries. At that point, the waitress became rude. We asked them to give us some sort of a discount. The owner came out and told us that the dining experience should be an hour and 20 minutes and they didn't feel like this was warranted. Horrible food, filet mignon was completely charred. Horrible service, we sat with empty glasses for the last hour and 30 minutes of our experience. Do not go there!

Terrible service! The staff was friendly, but the owner / mgr was super rude when we asked to move to a different table and turned around and walked away when I was mid-sentence. Never going back :( We stopped in with a party of 4 and even though there were several empty tables the hostess told us we could either sit at the bar or a table in a corner on the patio. The hostess told us where the table on the patio was, but did not actually seat us... After we seated ourselves, the waiter stopped by and brought us water. We realized there was a leak over the table that was dropping a considerable amount of water, our waiter never came back so we re-seated ourselves at the bar. I asked a man (who appeared to be the owner or manager) if we could move to a table somewhere inside and he walked away while I was mid-sentence and then came back and told us to ask the hostess. The hostess said she would put our name on a list and it would probably be 5 minutes (again, there were several empty tables). The bartender was very friendly and provided great service. After we had paid the bill the hostess offered to move us... There were still several empty tables when we left. Seriously never going back to this place!! I can't believe how they treat people who are trying to give them money!!

Best formal dinner I had on the island. We sat at the bar and chatted up the incredibly friendly and super professional staff at this original and delightful bistro. I had the filet med rare and recommend highly. We were invited back to a locals gathering there later that week and kind of sorry we missed it.

Have been coming to siesta key for years and tried Clayton's for the first time. It was the best meal that we have had down here. Started with calamari. Did not care for it and our waitress offered to take it back for us. We accepted and ordered the coconut shrimp in its place. It was phenomenal. Would highly recommend. We ordered the short ribs and the macadamia crusted grouper for our meals. Both were fantastic. It was a bit pricey, but we both had 2 drinks with dinner. All in after tip was about $130. Could have cut 40 or so off if we didn't drink. End of the day, the meal was as good as any that we have experienced is SK.

I really enjoyed our experience and service here during our recent 2-week trip to Florida! As this was a family trip with kids, although I didn't specifically set out to dine at any higher-end restaurants, I felt as if we got higher end food here without burning a hole in my wallet. The waitress allowed me to substitute a few (similar) items, which resulted in a dish in which I loved every part of. Our host (I'd like to think his name was Clayton) made every effort to provide us with hospitality and service, even catching us outside the door to say good-bye after we left. The restaurant was homey-comfortable with a variety of art. The one part of the experience that wasn't quite excellent was the Shirley Temple that I tried because the host said that he makes great Shirley Temples. As I usually don't order drinks but loved Shirley Temples when I was young, I thought this would make for a minor memorable experience. Unfortunately, the first time it came out, it was made by someone else. It was diluted and tasted like cherry. I don't like cherry, and Shirley Temples should be made with pomegranate syrup. The host tried to rectify it by making it himself. Nevertheless, it still tasted diluted to me. Maybe the one I loved as a child was just made with a better syrup!? In short, although the Shirley Temple was just normal, in my opinion, what counts is that the host cared enough to make every effort to please me, an uncommon experience. So this review is my way of expressing my thanks for helping us end our vacation on a high note! I may not make it back to Sarasota for a decade, but when I do, I think I'm going to seriously consider coming back to Claytons (all else being equal)! Food: 4.5 stars (as good as the food in the other Bay Area where I live--in CA) Service: 5 stars

Let this be a warning to families with young children....you really aren't welcome here. I took my extremely well behaved 4 year old here for dinner. We went at 4:30pm, admittedly without reservations, but who expects to need reservations at that time? Upon arrival, it appeared that the head chef/owner? was at the host stand. He glanced up only briefly without any greeting. The teenage girl by his side then greeted us with what appeared to be trepidation. I asked for a table for 2, one adult & one child, and asked for outdoor seating. I cannot describe how unwelcome I was made to feel. The girl exchanged mumbled conversation with aforementioned grumpapotomous, then led us out to the table immediately outside the door leading outside. The entire restaurant was empty except for a few patrons at the bar itself. We were given menus, water, etc by staff that was somewhat more friendly than the host but still couldn't escape the feeling that they were somehow doing me a favor by letting me eat there. Turns out that though the hours are listed as opening at 4, dinner doesn't start until 5. I ordered wine and an appetizer & they offered to bring my daughters meal right away, which was nice, though maybe motivated by a desire to get us the hell out of there as soon as possible. In the meantime the only other party that entered the place was seated directly next to us in a sea of available tables. That party was a bit obnoxious to put it mildly. I ordered the scallops entree which the waitress again brought out as soon as possible. The food, I wish I could lie, is spectacular. Maybe that's why the staff is so arrogant. But, the overall feel is not very welcoming in my opinion. If you are over 50 & wealthy you would really enjoy this place. Otherwise, you might feel uneasy as was my experience. The proprietors may want to take note that their clientele resembles the dinosaurs and if they want continued success they may want to look towards future generations.

Iv'e only been here once...so far. My hubby and I were in siesta key beach watching the sunset and hunger kicked in quite quickly afterwards. Caverty's was right down the word and of course with yelp's helpful reviews, it seemed like a great place to check out. I had the seared scallops with orzo mushroom rissotto. The scallops were huge! Cooked perfectly. The whole entire plate looked beautiful. I give it a five star for both taste and presentation. They nailed it perfectly with both. My hubby had the filet mignon and it was cooked exactly what he asked. The atmosphere is great. Its a good place to go if you are in the mood for amazing tasting meals. Next time we are in the area, i would like to try their pizza too!

I've been here twice but only during lunch; both times were right at 1:45pm and lunch ends at 2pm. Most places would have been aggravated with guests seating so close to the end of their dining shift, but the host and servers were friendly and upbeat. We never felt rushed and got to enjoy our delicious lunch entrees. My 1st time there I had their club sandwich with pasta salad and it was great. My 2nd time, I decided on a grilled chicken caesar salad and it was yummy too. I'm not ready to say it's as good as it gets since I've only been here for lunch, but I do enjoy the service, food, and outdoor ambiance.

We came to Clayton's for Christmas dinner and we also came another time a week later this vacation, both times we had awesome service and great food. Eat here if you get the chance, the food is fresh made and they use quality meats and healthy ingredients. Jessica was an excellent server and we also met Clayton, always a good sign to see the owner. This restaurant and bar has a elegant yet festive atmosphere and great food.

This place was amazing! My fiancé had the Pan seared scallops, and I had the Fillet Mignon and a cup of creamed asparagus soup. Everything was cooked perfectly, and the waitress was very nice. The only thing I did not fully enjoy was the house steak sauce. Pretty sure it was a balsamic reduction with Worcestershire sauce, not bad, just a little weird. We will definitely go back :)

We are back for our 5th year and this is still a Great Place on Siesta Key. The ambiance is upscale Key casual displaying local artists work with a nice vibe. Wait Service is always professional but still friendly, and the chef will even cook your fresh fish you've caught of the day! Entrees offered range from braised shortribs, fish tacos, fresh fish or just a burger or wood fired pizza. Prices are reasonable and there is parking! I Suggest reservations during this busy season!

Wow so food was good but amazing need to rush us out of brunch. To put simply by the end an employee explained that spraying windex to clean a glass door inside the restaurant next to our table was important side work that had to be done at 1:25pm on a Sunday. Yes we were still seated and watched her spray and clean with newspaper...tasty!!!

My family and I love this restaurant. It is a great family place or a nice night out w/ the kids. We have tried almost everything on the menu and there isn't anything I wouldn't order again. Recently tried the Burrata cheese dish... Felt like I was in Italy! Oyster Sliders ... Awesome! Wine list has something for everyone at a fair price. High end to low end.

Food was great once we got it. Someone here thinks that you should bring your soup and salad out with your Filet. Just sayin could have been much better experience. Mostly bothered by the fact that our waitress was mostly oblivious to our situation nor apologetic.

Best margarita I've ever had. And I've had A LOT. Calamari is nails. Service...excellent (at the bar). Can't believe I haven't been here before. Fish tacos were so so good. A new favorite.

Food was so good! Great service- our waters were never empty. The bread was delicious and I ordered the blackened Scottish salmon ($23) perfect portion and it was presented so beautifully I didn't want to eat it. We ordered the key lime pie for dessert it was pretty average but was, again, presented beautifully. We would defiantly go again. Everyone enjoyed their food.

Great breakfast! Enough said about that. Their happy hour is nice (4-6), good drinks, nice atmosphere and a good selection of 1/2 off appetizers. I haven't ate here for lunch or dinner but the prices seem high, I hope they serve great food for the price.

After a wonderful day in the sun on Siesta Key Beach we found this little gem. My husband wasn't happy that I wished our waiter was on the menu. Javier was wonderful and helpful. We enjoyed the scallops and the duck. We also liked the bruschetta and pear and arugula salad. The owner checked on us several times and our water glasses were filled constantly.

We were blown away by the excellent service and food. We loved, loved, loved the seafood chowder. My husband had the rock shrimp and crab salad and I had the chicken and cranberry salad. The greens were an assortment of very fresh mixed greens. We grow our own lettuce at home so we are very picky about our greens. So many interesting things mixed into the salad with perfect amount of light dressing. We both were starving when we went in but nicely sated when we left. We will definitely be back. Not the best view but we have found restaurants with great views usually fall short on the quality of the food. We will forgo the view for exceptional food which Clayton's has.

Clayton's Siesta Grille on Siesta Key has become one of our favorites. The Seared Rainbow Trout and the Beef Shortribs are the best around. My wife has enjoyed the Grilled Filet Mignon on several visits. You'll find the staff exceptional as they work hard to ensure you have a pleasurable dining experience. You may even meet Clayton who will get to know your name and welcome you back the next time you visit. Highly recommend Clayton's Siesta Grille.

Seems like thy have upped the prices 15-20% and cut their beer selections by half ( and not the good ones either. I think the Bud distributor here must have all the restaurants in a head lock). We had just a calamari which was decent with pretty ok marinara. I always lobby to go to Clayton's when we're here but next time I'm saving my chits for elsewhere.

Excellent food. Had the macadamian crusted grouper. Was beyond my expectations! Don't let the unfriendly hostess throw you off.

Very over priced for the quality of food and service... Sat on the patio which was a loud atmosphere. Wait staff does not know what "pre bussing" is...all the tables around us were a complete mess for over an hour which one poor buss boy had to handle. Hostess was very under dressed. Was confused if this was an upscale restaurant or not. The menu was interesting and somewhat pricy, but the atmosphere was casual and cheap. Felt like we were forgotten about. Liked the appetizer with the poached pears and cheese. Low rating for the pizza, was salty and sauce tasted like from a jar and the macadamia nut grouper tasted like a piece of fish from the frozen food section, veggies were completely soaked in worcestershire. Not worth the $80 bill...

no oysters. burrata was very good. trout almondine was delicious. mussels were tasty and flavorful. bread was fresh. good wine list. our server, Scott, was awesome, friendly, and out to please. had we found this place in our first night here, we'd have come back 2-3 more times. food on par with the best of manhattan restaurants. overall an amazing, can't miss experience.

Amazing! Clayton is super friendly. Fantastic wine list, delicious appetizers. The shrimp and the calamari appetizers were soo tasty, much more than we expected. The bread is hot with crispy crust and a superb cheese butter spread. The almond coated trout was out of this world!! Just u fortunate that we were so stuffed and unable to try the homemade deserts!

Food was good as usual, but had a coupon for a free appetizer with purchase of two beverages, but they wouldn't honor it at lunch. Coupon didn't say only valid after a certain time. Server said, "Just come back for dinner". Their error and didn't make any effort to make it right.

My friend and I went to Claytons this morning had the best breakfast ever. We have been searching Sarasota for a restaurant that serves nice fluffy scrambled eggs. Well, we got that and more. I told the waitress that I did not want a "patty" like they serve at mcdonalds. I wanted fluffy scrambled eggs and that is exactly what I got. The place is very welcoming and the staff were all so nice. The staff laughs and talks to everyone. Apparantly, they all really like the place where they work and it shows. We had a great time. I'm looking forward to going back to try the banana pancakes with the Siesta Key rum sauce. It sounds sooooooo yummy. For $10 buck I had it all. I will definitely be back SOON!

This is as good as it gets on Siesta Key. When the Summerhouse closed, we always went off the key for a "tablecloth" dinner ~ but this holiday season our family of 7 found ourselves at Claytons for a 6:30 dinner reservation. We all loved our entree's (scallops, filet, trout to name a few) and Clayton told us they are known for their short ribs. There is no reason to go "off the key" if you want a nice dining experience. Good for all ages from kids up through seniors. The local art work on the walls also added a nice touch to the evening. Will definitely make this one of our stops when we come down to the Key.

An eclectic crowd and menu. Some excellent choices on the special wine list. Well prepared fish dishes. Good sized portions. Attentive but not overbearing service. Sides were delicious. Find this one.

Eat here often and never a bad meal. Friendly, good service and great food. The Duck can't be beat and the trout is wonderful. Adequate wine list and good drinks. Over all great food and service!

I'm at Clayton's 3-4 times a month and never experienced nothing but a good food, very friendly service. Clayton himself is a very, very nice guy. Food: plenty of it and tasty, I never get enough of it, hard to keep a diet.

Went back to Claytons last week during my visit to Sarasota and I can't remember the last time I had such a good time. Everyone was so friendly and just having a great time - it was contagious. I got the Mediterranean appetizer very very good. The main course was fantastic. The wine was perfect and the desserts were pure sin. I had the chocolate brownie and could not stop eating it. My sister got the Creme Brûlée and loved it. I have tried several items on the menu over the years and the great thing about this particular restaurant is that you can have a fine dining experience or a casual dinner depending on your mood. I had the Mahi Mahi Fish tacos once and they were excellent as well. You just can't go wrong. I will absolutely be back.

Great food with a variety of options to suit everyone. Service was good although it can be difficult for the waitstaff to hear over the noise level. I recommend the seafood Cobb salad and the fish tacos.

Among the few restaurants actually ON Siesta Key is Clayton's. The right by the bridge and boat rentals motif really was lack-luster. I must say before I tear into this place that everyone I dealt with was cool but, did not go above and beyond or seem to care. The Review: In a party of 5 with a screaming child, it is natural to have some dissension among guests as to if the food is good. All of us and the baby agreed: This place sucked. The All you can eat fish dinner was as poor prepared and tasting as I have ever experienced. Fish: Soggy, not well seasoned and a terrible oily texture. - I know it's fried fish but really, you could have rung this out and powered a bio diesel generator for a week. The Cole-Slaw: Nope, not by a long shot. Not creamy or slightly acidic. It basically tasted like shredded cabbage with a little bit of water on it. Maybe if I had a hungry rabbit with me he would have been like, "Aw SNAP!" but alas, a rabbit I did not have. The "Chips" - or as I like to call them - "French Fries" would have been better suited for kindling in a hobos fire pit but still remained soggy. It was quite vexing - Dry and wet at the same time? Oh yeah! I know what that was - COLD FRENCH FRIES! My Brother in law got the Fillet. Big mistake. A Poor cut for the price and two terrible sides. The waiter was informed of our displeasure but did not offer to remove it from the bill. One very redeeming thing... THE BREAD! Our fail-dozer of a meal came with the best Focaccia and rosemary infused butter. A staggering sprinkle of win but not enough to tip the scale. 2 stars for the Bread.

I had the Siesta Grill Breakfast. Hash browns were disgusting, and my eggs were cold and runny. We won't be back.

Wonderful restaurant. Service was fantastic and everyone was very friendly. Had a burger with blue cheese and fries. Burger: outstanding. The fries looked iffy, but I would go back for just the fries! Highly recommend.

Very good eggs Benedict - hollandaise was perfect which is very hard to find in Sarasota. The staff is super friendly and seem like they know their customers by name. Obviously a lot of regulars eat here - a very good sign. Will have to come back for lunch and dinner...

Manager lost my creditcard and she told me she was too busy to look for it! The manager also moved people off of a table as they were waiting for other guests. The manager was very rude overall. The food is average, but the service is terrible. Avoid at all costs.

The portions are large, which one would hope for given the high price. The food is OK, but the preparation was off: my crispy duck wasn't crispy, and a rack of lamb I sampled was left rare when that was not what was requested. Didn't have the greatest service experience either, since they were rushing us out to clear the kitchen on a holiday evening.

This place has the nicest people in town working here! The food is good, we had omelets. The service is great; we were greeted the moment we sat down and our coffee cups were always full...what else do you need in a breakfast spot? The decor is fun and colorful and the restaurant looked very to be very clean.
