After moving to Sarasota from New Jersey years ago it took awhile to find a good Chinese place. This is by far the closest to NY/NJ style. We only have done delivery and they are always friendly taking and delivering the order, and they even give you a really nice calendar every year. Only 1-2 issues out of 50 times. Mooshu chicken is very delicious and the sauce is yummy. Pork rolls... YUM... not too greasy. LoMein has a good noodle that is homemade (so I think) and very good. We have tried various other things on the menu and all have been good. Best place for SRQ Chinese delivery.

Great Chinese take out we had the family special $26.99 for 3 egg rolls,6 crab rangoons, large vegetable fried rice and 3 main courses from about 20 choices. Everything was great.

Note to any Restauranteers: If you want to make a lot of money, open up a high end Chinese Restaurant or Dim Sum place in SRQ. You will have customers lined up for blocks because there is not one decent Chinese Restaurant in SRQ. Seriously, if you build it they will come. That one amazingly high-end, great Chinese restaurant would make huge amounts of money because in SRQ we have place like: China 1 That's all we have in SRQ...are places like this...just mediocre Chinese food. The suffering continues...

Love, Love, Love this place! Thier food is always fresh, hot, and big portioned. I've never had a problem with anything that I ordered. I highly recommend them.

I have ordered here twice. Unfortunately I forgot I had already tried it. I ordered food that they offered to deliver. It arrived with part if it spilled in the bag, but we decided to try it anyway. It was awful. The vegetables were over cooked and really mushy in a thick goopy/chunky sauce. The Chicken dish was supposed to be fried and at one point had been, but by the time we got it, it was so mushy the batter was sliding off. We drive over to ask for a refund and they went back and forth for 25 minutes. First they could discount and make it again, than no discount just make it again and then said they would give is 60 % back. We decided to try getting different food and went with honey chicken and got the same mush as before in a thick tasteless sauce. Never again. I won't forget this time.

As a picky New Yorker I recommend this place. I've been ordering from here over 4 years, before delivering for them since October 2011. Actually located just off Tamiami on Gulf Gate just past Panera on same side of the street. So far, only the egg Foo sauce is not to my taste. Friendly. Is more of a take out place.

I'm from Brooklyn, NY. Always looking for shrimp w/ lobster sauce the way it's supposed to be made-- a thick white sauce. Definitely good here. Did not like egg roll. It tasted sweet. Fried rice?.? It was yellow, like saffron rice. Did have the right pork in it. Would go back again, and would recommend you at least try it. We ate there, but it's more of a take out place.

Not sure why the bad reviews, but put this restaurant in context with the other Chinese restaurants in Sarasota and this is a winner. Take-out or delivery (I've never seen anyone eat inside. We had Sesame Chicken, Hunan Beef, Veg lo mein. Hunan Beef had a nice kick to it. Veg lo mein was not greasy. We get take out from here once a trip during our Sarasota stays.

I'm baffled about the bad reviews myself. We were staying at the Island House Resorts in Siesta Key and this place delivered. Yelp reviews almost caused me to order Italian (which I did during the later part of our trip, also good :-). I grew up in Brooklyn where there is good Chinese on every single corner. Living in Florida for the last decade has been a bit of a shock. There are perhaps two Chinese restaurants worth eating at in all 57 square miles of Miami-Dade county. This place was a glorious find and almost worth the three hour drive all by itself. From the obviously hand made wontons in the Wonton Soup to the fresh noddles in the Lo mein to the crispy better on the fried chicken to the rich curry flavors in the curry chicken. Nevermind the crispy and delicious egg rolls. We ordered twice during our trip and it was divine both times. I don't know where the negative reviewers get their Chinese but if we had a place like this in Miami we'd be serious regulars.

First time eating there... I think. Anyways had the sesame chicken with pork fried rice. The rice was good, the chicken was incredible and the two came together nicely. The only problem was the portion I received is wayy less than you would expect for a New York style Chinese dinner combo. Maybe 6 pieces of chicken even though they were really good, the portion size would make a Somalian blush. Gonna give it another shot soon because I really enjoyed it, most likely just a fluke they were extremely busy.

This place doesn't get enough credit. I've never sat in, only take out but as the only Chinese restaurant in Sarasota that offers food actual human beings can eat, they do great. Owners are so so friendly and have a ton on their plates (sorry for that wordplay) they have 3 phone numbers for ordering, for goodness sake! Despite this, our orders have never been wrong, everything is piping hot and fresh. Vegetables always are good and when steamed, not floppy and soft but have a good crunch to them. I've always gotten massive portions of everything. Unlike Mak's, they fill the rice cups for carryout all the way to the top, not half way! It's the details people! I love China 1 and if you aching for some tasty Chinese, consider China 1. Tip for takeout- ask for your sauces as they don't usually put any in the bag in unless you ask.

Horrible! This is hands down the worst place I went to in Siesta. Sad. I ordered the mu shu chicken and they gave me frozen duck sauce and boxed crepes. It was so horrific I sent it back. Would never go back....

We ordered delivery from China 1 and overall we'd give it 3.5 stars. I thought my general Tso's was really good and so were the egg rolls. However, my wife had the chicken lo mein and it was just okay. I would order from China 1 again.

Very clean inside and had such a friendly staff. The pork fried rice was very favorable and the prices were affordable. My fiancé and I have found our new Chinese place! I highly recommend China 1!

The staff here is super friendly. We got our food in a timely fashion and it was piping hot. It has been quite a while since we have gone to a Chinese restaurant in Sarasota, because for some reason they seem to go downhill fast or not be good at all. We gave this a try because a friend at work suggested it. I had the chicken with broccoli and my wife had the chicken chow mein lunch specials. We chose wonton soups for our sides. The portions were very generous. The lunch special runs from 11 AM to 3 PM every day and is only $5.25. I was quite surprised by how much food we got for such a little price and how good the quality was considering that price. The woman who took our order brought our food to us and served it to us. This place is by far the most friendly take-out Chinese place I've ever gone to. Also, they will do delivery within a 5 mile radius. I believe it is a minimum of $10 order. We found that very good to know. I do recommend this place. The only reason I gave it four stars is because our rice was slightly undercooked, likely because we were at the tail end of the lunch special. We are going to go again and if the rice is spot on, I will change it to five stars, because for me it would be the best Chinese takeout place in Sarasota that I have been to. Even ever so slightly undercooked, the pork fried rice was very tasty.

Best fast Chinese I have had in Sarasota, also a great price, lunch under $7, for Soup eggroll and shrimp with veggies and rice. The guy who worked there was very nice as well.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
