Loved it!! I got the Amazing Bangkok with shrimp. The peanut sauce was so good I got a side order to take home. Service and staff were great and the atmosphere was nice. I would recommend this place to anyone who likes Thai food (even people who do not will love it after they eat here). Prices were reasonable-- you can also add extra shrimp on in case you want to share.

I've been going to Bangkok for a few years now at the recommendation of a friend. I lived not too far from the restaurant, so that only added to the encouragement. The atmosphere is nice, the servers are prompt and pleasant, and the food is tasty and not too pricey. I've only gone during dinner hours and have gone with one or two other people at most.

One of the best Thai restaurants in Sarasota. Red and Green curry dishes are my favorites.

I lived in Sarasota for 7 years and now lived in Denver. I always stop at Bangkok when I make a trip back to Sarasota. I havent found a Thai place that comes close to the quality here. Great service, great food!

I have been coming to Bangkok for as long as I can remember. I have tried many different dishes & they are all amazing! If you like spicy, try the sauce on the table....it will make your nose run for sure :) The service is always great & everyone there is really nice.

The last time I went there the food was cold so I sent it back and got my same dish nuked. Furthermore our the server could have cared less. Bad quality and service has been a repeat pattern.

    I. Love. Bangkok. I have been going here for a decade and I've never once had a disappointing meal. The service is courteous and pretty attentive. Things to try: garden spring roll, Bangkok green bean, pad Thai, green curry (my FAVORITE), fried rice, and their icecreams! This is my go-to takeout restaurant, and definitely one of the first spots that pops into my head when I'm wondering where I should take a friend out to eat!

I was fortunate to have a lot of delicious thai food the 2 years I lived in Manhattan. I knew Sarasota wouldn't compare but I had hope. Appetizers were all delicious - especially the spring rolls. We also had dumplings and crab rangoon. My go-to dish is Pad See Ew. Bangkok's version was SUPER WATERY and had regular broccoli and cauliflower instead of chinese broccoli. I have never seen cauliflower in this dish before and it didn't do it any favors. Also felt portion was a bit on the wimpy side. I was glad we ordered a ton of appetizers to share. 4 stars for the service and appetizers, 1 for the entrees, rounding it out to 2 overall. Probably wouldn't come back.

It's my second favorite Thai place in Sarasota and my third favorite that I've ever had. So that tells you that the food is very good. I do not go here often as I have an addiction to another Thai restaurant on Siesta Key, but when it comes to a second choice this one is definitely it. It's a lovely atmosphere, very comforting and beautiful. Service is incredibly attentive and quick. Food is satisfying and delicious! You really couldn't ask for more!

Really a 3.5, but not an option. I have had better Thai food "out in the world", but in Sarasota, this is top tier. Especially a good option when you consider that there are not a lot of choices in this particular part of town. Staff is good and they work as a team to serve you faster, which I always like to see.

Oh Bangkok, what happened? You were my family's favorite. But the quality has really gone downhill. So sad.

Great place great food and I love the spicy flavor atmosphere is okay , very close to authentic cuisine. Big Explosion in your Mouthe flavor (awesome BABY) Go and try it. you'll love it P.s order extra beer or water ,you will need it.

  • Hal H.

Spotty. On some nights, it's decent; on others, blah. It's definitely not a culinary experience, but with the dearth of good Asian cuisine in Sarasota, I guess it will have to do. Talk about damning with faint praise...

What once was the best Thai in town is now a sorry replica of what it once was. After eating there for over 15 years, I've moved on. The atmosphere is cozy and beautifully decorated but the food is secondary to the art and design of the space. That's unfortunate. Give their pad Thai tofu a whirl though, they work wonders with that soy protein. Everything else is kinda, meh.

If I'd wanted to have to add spice to my dish after it was cooked, I'd have not bothered to order it spicy. Bangkok used to be my favorite restaurant in Sarasota. The phrase "gone down hill" doesn't even cover it.

The food is not bad and my family are regulars for over 2 years but service and business ethics is questionable at best. The last time we went there, they silently charge us $4 for our two kids to share their adult sized noodle dish without any advanced notice. Good way to lose customers with this kind of shady and unfair practices, they don't even offered kids portion so very gimmicky.

Pad thai is my favorite food and I basically always order it whenever I go to a Thai restaurant as a gauge of how good everything else is. The Pad Thai here is pretty good, not my favorite but it is a pretty generous portion and it tastes good. I asked for as spicy as possible but was kind of disappointed, but overall it was really good Pad Thai. The service was pretty good, but our server didn't speak complete English so it got awkward at times repeating things, but the owner checked up on us halfway through the meal, so that was nice. The decor is really nice too. Overall good food and good service, but not my favorite. Average price for Pad Thai and a drink is about 15$

Maybe a 2.5 star +. We looked in the Sarasota Magazine for places to eat while house hunting in Sarasota. This appeared to be a "People's Favorite". Well if you want quantity and not so concerned with quality, this is a very good place for those seniors that are looking for a "Blue Plate Special". I'm certain there are other Thai places that would offer very good fresh Thai food.

We went to Bangkok because it was our aunt and uncle's favorite place to get food without wheat gluten and it turned it to be very tasty and we'll cooked and served. We were a large +11 group that gathered at the last minute and they were well able to accommodate us all. My husband ate light with just wonton soup and spring rolls. I had the Bangkok Delight stir fry with lots of fresh Napa cabbage, carrot, peas etc and chicken. I ordered it mildly hot and that was quite plenty for my taste. They have Singha beer which was good and I had Thai ice tea that was quite tasty. The owners and staff were very friendly especially with young children. The bathrooms were clean.

Bangkok is Bangin!!! The menu is stunning, the atmosphere is sensual, and the taste is out of this country!! Loved it. Will def be back for another tour of Thai !!

I've driven by this place for years but never tried it. Decided to give it a shot and am very impressed. Everything I ate was absolutely delicious. Fresh ingredients and excellent flavors. Friendly service. I found a new favorite!

Friends invited us to Bangkok saying that it was the top Thai restaurant in Sarasota. We've had Thai food throughout the country and were happy to try it, but it was a poor experience. The decorations were quite nice and the place had a warm and inviting look, but the seats were uncomfortable (an odd, low pillow was placed at the bottom of the booth, causing an unnatural back position - we had to remove it.) When the rice arrived, instead of placing a full bowl on the table, the server spooned some onto each of our plates and took the bowl with her. This was fine, except that she dropped rice on the floor next to our table, said she would clean it up, and then never did. Later I stepped in the rice and spent a great deal of time at home afterwards working it out of the treads of my shoes. Normally, I would chalk all this up to first-timers bad luck or an unfortunate off-night as long as the food was good. It was not. The yellow curry was bland, passable at best. The pad see eew was inedible - the noodles looked as if they were from a Ronzoni box and the sauce was thin and bitter. This is also the only Thai restaurant I've been to that did not have Curry Puffs as an appetizer, so I got a chicken app instead that was mediocre. Out of deference to our friends, we merely thanked them for the evening, but plan on going elsewhere for Thai in the future.

Although we only go to Bangkok a couple times of year, when we are down vacationing in Sarasota, we have always had a wonderful meal and fantastic service everytime. The restaurant is in a strip mall, but it doesn't feel that way when you walk inside. There tables/booths around the perimeter all have beautiful silk curtains and cushions and we have been seated in these every time we have visited. Our kids delight in visiting all the carved sculptures, elephant pictures and other thai decor on their trip around the restaurant. The service is always very attentive and the servers are dressed in traditional Thai garb. The servers are very kid friendly and the owner even gave my daughter a small gift at one visit. The menu is huge - they offer so many dishes that is usually takes us a while to decide what we want. Rice, noodle, chicken, beef, pork and seafood dishes, all colors of curry at what ever heat intensity you desire. We usually have the fish special of the day, the red curry, yellow curry, pad thai, pineapple rice or dumplings for an appetizer. All have been excellent and the rice is plentiful and you can get more whenever you like. If you like Thai food you must try this place. We highly recommend it!

I've eaten at Bangkok since about '04 and must say the food quality has gone downhill. The atmosphere and servers wore authentic Thai clothing. Service was good but that's cause my parents know the owners so this was a bit biased. In the past we had their other servers and service was O-K. I came here for lunch with Mom and we both ordered the Pad Thai with Shrimp (see photo) along with Spicy Jumping Squid Salad as an appetizer. Lunch comes with a spring roll. The spring roll was tiny, maybe 3 inches at best and a bit hard (too much shell?). The salad was okay, it's tasted better in the past and there wasn't much salad. The Pad Thai was the most disappointing. The noodles were dark brown and salty from too much soy sauce. There was only 4 shrimp and the rice tasted a day old. Who knows, maybe it is better at dinner time but I wouldn't take my significant other here for lunch.

Only down fall is there is no kids menu ~ We had a hard time trying to figure out what to get for our son and once we did get him an entree that was too expensive, he didn't really like it that much and was too big of a portion for him.

I have been here several times and usually get the same thing, chicken satay and shrimp pad thai. Both are always very good, my only knock would be the Pad Thai only comes with three or so shrimp. During my last visit I splurged and got the seafood combo pad thai. Big difference, not only did it have the same amount of shrimp as just the shrimp pad thai but it also included a bunch of big scallops and tender squid. Very good dish. Also their lunch pad thai dish comes with a spring roll. Very small but very tasty. I tried the coconut soup this time and it wasn't bad but I've definately had better. If you like salads I have had the beef salad and that was one of the best dishes I've had here. It's just an app but very fresh and flavorful. Four stars because the service is always great. Waitresses always stay close by so you never have to worry about gettign thirsty. Great atmosphere inside despite being in a strip mall. Next time I will have to try something different, not a huge curry fan but so many of my friends rave about it so often that I may just have to give it a try. Overall I'd say it's as good as any of the downtown spots AND less expensive.

Wow what a fantastic restaurant. The atmosphere is great, and the food is second to none. The owner is always kind and attentive to the customers. I would say this is the best Thai restaurant in Sarasota!

I've been coming to this restaurant with my family ever since I can remember and normally the quality of food is good. However, this last incident was unforgivable. We ordered 2 of the same things plus one new thing we've never had from the menu and the meal was as following: crappy at best. The vegetables were so overcooked they were mush, the stir-fried meat was as dry as chalk, not only were the "crispy noodles" not crispy, but downright salty and slimy, and our spring rolls tasted like a ball of grease. After this inedible meal we called the manager the next day to inform him that the quality of our meal was dreadful and instead of promising us he would do something about it he insisted that "next" time we should tell the chef we don't want our vegetables overcooked, ect; as if the problem lie with us. Honestly that kind of arrogance won't get you far in this country when it comes to the service industry and I can say with confidence that they've lost my family as loyal customers.

I adore Thai food and think that it is appropriate for all ages and levels of culinary adventure. I've been to Bangkok several times (once a year for about 4 years) and found from my last visit that the food has really gone down hill. I tend to judge Thai restaurants by their pad thai and curries. The pad thai at Bangkok was worse than what you can cook at home out of a box. It was so pedestrian I should make jokes about sidewalks and pavement when I speak of it. It tasted of soy sauce (it's not supposed to) and had hardly any bean sprouts. It was NOT good. We also had some kind of beef with an extremely heavy peanut sauce that was cloying and tasted way too strongly of JIF. The pineapple fried rice was pretty good, but I doubt it's authenticity to true Thai cuisine, although I'm not Thai. The only good things were the mussamon curry with shrimp (very sweet, but still savory- how do they do that?) and the mango with sticky rice for dessert. Also the thai ice tea is so good I can't believe it came from the same kitchen as that craptastic pad thai. Straighten up Bangkok, you used to be my favorite restaurant in Sarasota, but your attempts to appeal to old white people palate is not the sidewalk you want to walk down, even in Sarasota.

I have to be honest I really don't like Thai food but this place is awesome. This is the first any only Thai restaurant I will ever eat at. I'm originally from Sarasota and when I visit I always make sure this is on my list of places to eat at.

  • Georgia O.

I would once again like to say that this restaurant does not have vegetarian sauces despite its claim that it has vegetarian dishes. I'm not sure why my previous comments about this went to filter, but this is a simple non-arguable fact and is important to know for vegetarians.

This place used to be better but is still the best Thai food in Sarasota. The Pad Thai is the best I have ever had and the service has always been pretty good. Pretty good lunch specials to be had here too. One problem is the parking and do not park in front of the 7 11 or they will tow your car.

  • Lauren R.

I came here worn out and terribly hungry and ordered one of the curries. The place was so pretty inside and seemed to have many awards, so I was not concerned about the food. I was shocked to find this terrifically bland -colored plate of food when it arrived. Everything was white. Mostly, nobody had bothered to cut the onions - you know, like you do in your own home! they were longer than the size of my mouth, huge slabs of onion I have never seen in restaurant food, and so this was quite uncomfortable to eat. I was assured the price for vegetarian would come down if the meat was left out, and then it wasn't and then somebody had to be called over. All this made for an especially unpleasant dining experience. I always enjoy Thai food for its variety and color and flavor and this one was so disappointing to me. I so wished I had not stopped.

Best Thai in Sarasota! My husband and I love this restaurant...great green curry and pad thai. It's a good quick spot for lunch too...can't go wrong!

  • Selmy B.

Best Thai in all of Sarasota county. Always exceptional service and always fresh food. The private family owned is the spot for lunch and dinner, plus with the extra private dining area group lunches, dinner and parties make for a reasonable and delicious Thai dining experience. Take out is also a smooth process since their full menu is online.

Red snapper with garlic sauce (whole fish) is not tasty...chicken and broccoli is basically a soup...my husband and I were very disappointed...if you are looking for some Chinese food you are used to getting near home, avoid this place...it's not comforting, it's not tasty...it's blah...

I don't like to give "not great" reviews, so this is what I will say: Take a look at the other reviews. Notice that local Sarasotans seem to like this place, but people "from away" - places like New York, Boston, etc. find it mediocre at best. I will suggest that those of us who have eaten Thai food in large urban locations have a very different experience of what Thai food should be. And, this is NOT it. The worst Pad Thai I've ever had. Filled with soy sauce and gummy noodles. The restaurant is quite lovely, though, and the staff is friendly and efficient.

Great Thai food and they are more than happy to make food allergy and taste preference accommodations. Friendly and courteous staff, would definitely recommend even if you're not familiar with Thai food.

The food there is very good. But beware of sharing charges. I was not aware that they charge for sharing. They need to state that on the menu. I could have order another dish. The waitress or waiter needs to tell people that.

Good Asian and Thai food! The curry and stir-fries are great and so is the service. Location isn't the best, but because it's off the beaten path this isn't a full and noisy house. Atmosphere is very laid-back and quiet. Great place for a relaxing dinner or romantic get together.

Tonight, I had my first taste of Thai food. Bangkok was so delicious! I had such an awesome experience from the moment I walked in, till we left. The decor was beautiful, and very welcoming. Our server was so nice, and very informative. She took the time to explain things we did not know. The manager came over to welcome us and answer our questions. Oh my goodness, the Thai-yai ribs appetizer was so yummy and the meat fell off the bone. My husband loved the frog legs. My 4 year old had the combination fried rice and kept saying how yummy it was. I had one of the curry platters and was very good. The owner brought out the fried banana wonton and coconut ice cream for us to try and omg was it amazing! This place is a gem. So glad we decided to go!

Best thai food in the country so far (and ive been living right next to NYC for YEARS and havent found anything that even half measures up). The untouchable rice is to die for, the pad thai is heavenly, tiger tear salad is my go-to for pre-training eats. The staff here is very polite and courteous, friendly as well. The atmosphere is beautiful, great ambiance with tons of traditional thai art in the form of wall hangings and elaborately carved wooden tables and seats. Really Bangkok is the best and I'm not exaggerating even a little.

  • David M.

Bangkok has been consistently excellent for 12 years. We have tried other competing Thai restaurants but always come back to this location. The place is always busy and the dining experience is pleasant. We mostly get take out and it is ready quickly and efficiently usually in 15 -20 minutes. I do note some patrons from the North are less enthusiastic. I have eaten Thai both in New York and Sarasota and both are equally good.

Having lived in LA for the past several months and trying several of the Tai restaurants it has to offer, I'm constantly reminded that Bangkok Tai in Sarasota has the best Pad Tai on either side of the country hands down. Took my father here during graduation and he whole heartedly agreed. If your in Sarasota you have to try this place.

We found this place over 8 years ago and try to make goto back as much as we can. This time it seems they change chef as it was not as memorable as before. Older waitress was not all that friendly and was scarce when we needed more water. Was not that busy of a time in the restaurant.

Asian isn't a forte in SRQ, but Bangkok has quality food at a reasonable price. Service is great and the ambiance is nice. Really clean and always yummy. Their takeout is even better than dine-in, if that's even possible.

  • Peter D.

I've eaten at a lot of Thai places. I tried this place 3 times and found it to be so-so. I agree with the poster who said their pad thai is lame. Truly - it was hard to eat and did not even taste like pad thai.

  • Kimi M.

Eating here was my first introduction to yummy yummy Thai cuisine. I have been all over the United States and have sampled Thai food almost every state I've been to, but this restaurant really does take the cake. Food, decor, service are unbeatable. It's also not super expensive, either.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
