Whenever we are in town visiting family in Ruskin we make sure to stop in to S & S. What the place lacks in ambience it makes up in portion size and taste. It is definitely a take out place though I believe there are s few bar stools and tables to sit at. You order at the counter and wait for the meal to be prepared. The kitchen is minuscule but somehow they have enough room to get it all done. I usually get the wet burrito and crunchy tacos. Last visit I tried the taco salad without meat. All are very good.

Just bad. Where to start.... well, the ground beef isn't seasoned very much. Very bland. Are they cooking for ulcer patients and octogenarians? The hard taco shells always seem stale. The salsa is very watery, so the watery part runs out of the taco. I guess it softens up the stale shell a little, though! I stopped here because it was convenient. I have been there 6 or 7 times, so this review isn't based on just one visit. The food quality has been just adequate every time. There are other, much better places nearby. Honestly, great tacos aren't that hard to make. How can they screw this up so well?

I am Mexican and Irish! This food is outstanding! The wet burrito is a must try! They have great proportions. The service is excellent! I take all my friends from out of town here! You won't be disappointed in the food..... Thanks Guys

S & S is a home town feel local joint with a local owner who cares about the community. Also they serve great food. Mike, the owner, is a great guy who puts his all into his business. I played on a pool league out of S & S so I was there weekly. The pizza is outstanding. I'd often get one to go after my games for the kids at home and we all agreed it was the best in the area. I liked the tacos too and always left happy. The staff are awesome and treat all their customers like friends. Don't go to nasty nationwide chains for good grub. Support local and authentic business! Miss you guys!

I stopped here to grab a few tacos. From the outside it is exactly what I go for, divey, cramped, packed with locals. I was disappointed with the tacos. The tortillas were fresh as was the tomato but the beef was dry and flavorless. Also, I ordered the hot salsa but it was not very hot at or flavorful. There are better places to eat around Ruskin.

Ew. They only have one meat choice - beef. They also have a "Wet Burrito". Yes, you read that correctly.

Where do I begin. When I walked in. I seemingly had my hopes up to have one of the best tacos the locals have told me to go have. evidently they're not used to good food. This is the first and only Spanish or Mexican or Tex Mex place whatever you call it ,I have ever heard of that does not use cilantro that does not carry cilantro that does not use lime or carry lime on the premises. the tacos were almost $10 for three of them what a rip off. I ate the taco and it's not even lukewarm. let's get to the taste of it in a minute ,but temperature wise its like they pulled the tortilla store bought tortilla out of the refrigerator. The meat was colder than the tomato that had came out of the refrigerator. My 7 year old can't even reach the stove or the cabinets but he could make a more tasty more attractive looking piece of food item then these grown adults. it was tasteless I have never had a worst looking tasting temperature wise piece of fake taco ISM in my entire life. I will never be back here and I'm going to time it to see how fast that this meat is going to make me vomit it up or expelled from my body one way or the other because the lack of temperature .I'm going to add a picture of this . My suggestion to anyone driving by this place keep driving save your money and don't risk it they have given up all hope of making customers happy

This used to be my favorite to go place back in the day, which is what keeps me going and I believe this is true for everyone in town, it's a place that has been here for so long everyone and their mother knows about it but they haven't done much to improve their food I feel like they need a new revamp and stop making the food in microwaves!

We decided to stop and give this local business a try but should have looked at Yelp reviews first. Gave it 1 star because of great customer service. Definitely not Mexican food. We had tostadas, soft taco and chips with salsa. Flavorless beans, meat was dry and not seasoned. The lettuce wasn't even shredded. Chips look and taste like they were Tostitos. Very poor quality overall. Agree with other reviews, you're better off going to Taco Bell.

First time ordering from here. Personal friends said it was good, but was not sure because of the low reviews on here. Trust the reviews. Ordered a Taco Salad and Beef Enchilada. The enchilada had flavor and was good with lots of cheese, but could use more seasoning for sure. Taco salad was a HUGE DISAPPOINTMENT. No taco shell, but crushed up bits and pieces on top of way too much sour cream or whatever sauce they put on. The worst was that it barely had any meat on the salad. I would estimate about 1 TABLESPOON of ground beef. Salad was all lettuce, cheese and sour cream sauce. IF I order from here again, I will make sure to request meat on the taco salad which says it comes..... with meat. Tonight..it did not.

Go elsewhere. Taco Bell is much better and less expensive. One could probably classify this as "American Tacos". The meat is very, very bland with nearly no seasoning.

S&S is a staple in Ruskin. Good, quick tex-mex food with great service. Must try: Taco Salad and wet burrito. The Taco salad is lettuce, tomato, onion and ground beef with crushed chips on top and catalina dressing, catalina dressing (a sweet french dressing) isn't something I would think to put on a taco salad but it tastes awesome. The shop is pretty small, so its normally easier to call-in to go, but if you're a regular they're sure to know you by name and most likely have your order memorized within a couple of visits.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
