It's hard to say exactly what is lacking here. The food is decent. It's not the best bbq of your life but it's pretty tasty. The sides are fantastic. I really like the mac n cheese and the sweet potato fries are to die for! I've never had Carolina bbq before so for me the vinegar based sauces are a little bit different but I thought they were tasty too. I guess the place is just lacking atmosphere. It's a bit bare bones. I usually go for lunch so I would be curious to see how things are for dinner. Based on its location I really hope this place makes it. We need more places like this in the area.

Not Good. Walking into this restaurant I knew something was wrong. I didn't even smell BBQ and there were only 2 people in the whole restaurant. The walls are bare with very little decor at all. The restaurant did look clean and the wait staff seemed friendly so we decided to give it a spin. As a party of 2, we ordered Ribs and Carolina BBQ to share. The ribs come pre-sauced. The sauce was overwhelmingly strong. It is unfortunate because the ribs were so tender you couldn't pick them up. The meat just fell off the bone! But I couldn't finish my portion because I couldn't take another bite of sauce. It was similar to Kraft Original but a little stronger...or maybe there was just more of it then I'm used to. The Carolina BBQ is diced pork (yes diced into mush) covered in vinegar. Not a bit of BBQ about them. We added a bit of the House sauce (vinegar with red peppers) and it helped a little but I still only made it 3 bites in and gave up. I'm thinking they don't have a specific recipe for sauces because the sauces we had looked nothing like the pictures on yelp. The vinegar and house sauces were clear! Luckily the sides came in large enough portions to fill me up. The onion rings had good flavor but the onions were overcooked and mushy. The coleslaw was diced similar to the pork. Maybe they are using a blender to chop because it was obliterated mush. It did however have good flavor. I don't know why everyone is raving about the hushpuppies. They were just regular hushpuppies. They were not sweet like the ones you would get in the Carolinas. I don't think we came on a bad night...I think it just wasn't good food.

The three brothers is a hometown place that I wanted to like. I appreciate a local place and always give them a try first. It is a nice place, plain on the inside but looks like it could have a good after dark crowd. There was a small stage and what looked like a setup for Karaoke or a singer. They did have a full bar, with a few bottles, but not what appeared to be a full selection of booze. We ordered nachos, they had an ok pico de gallo, with fresh jalapenos, and added pickles japs on top. The pulled pork on the nachos with the cheese sauce was not a great combo, the chips were terrible bag chips. The pulled pork sandwich was better, but was a run of the mill smoked pork. The brisket was terrible, not what I expect from a slow cooking. The sauces were a saving grace as they had a regular sauce, carolina mustard and a vinegar sauce. We noticed other sauces on other tables, but the server didn't mention them. The Mac and cheese was not exciting either. It was a middling BBQ joint. Factor in higher than average prices and its not really worth it.

My husband and I decided to try this place out even though the reviews is not all that great. It was very close to our house. This place was dead !!! Well maybe because it was a Sunday night??? The place was so empty .., they had one table. It didn't feel right to us, so we order to go. We waited over 30 minutes for food. We order BBQ Chicken and pulled pork that look like ground pork. The chicken was dry and the pork was......I don't know what to say. This will be our first and last. We feed our dog the pulled pork and I must say he love it. Lol..... Hope the place stay in business.

Horrible service!!! Waited 20 minutes for contact with server. Another 40 for the food. Then could get the waitress to check us out. Had to get another waiter to get our bill for us. Below Average food. Vinegar based sauce was very bitter....even the so called sweet. Won't go back.

It's a smokehouse yet I had to listen to spanish music and a saxophone player. Not the music you would expect to hear at a smoke house. The sides tasted like they all came from the can. My first time and my last time here. They need to step up their game to compete with the locals. Great location that's about it because there is a Sonic next door.

Good prices. Good chicken. Very friendly staff. Go there and get a drink after work. It is under rated as a home-town bar.

I had a hankering for BBQ tonight so I looked on Urban Spoon and found 3 Brothers. Honestly, it's been at its location in the plaza at the corner of Balm Riverview and Boyette for several months (Sam plaza with Sonic). I tried it out and WOW....it was GREAT. I got a 1/2 rack rib dinner that came with 3 delicious hush puppies the way you remember them years ago, and 2 sides. The potato salad was ok, but the baked beans were outstanding and were thick and full of pork. The ribs fell off of the bone and the sauce was very unique and good...not too overpowering. I am looking forward to visiting again to try something new soon.

The good: The pork, the mac and cheese, the sauces (if you like vinegar based sauces, the mustard sauce was solid too, the people. The bad: The brisket was tough. The ugly: I think the beans were out of a can. Overall: I would stop by again if I was in the mood for a pork sandwich.

I visited around 11:30 on holiday Monday, I was the only guest. It doesn't look like much from outside, but inside where are many more tables than you expect. The bar is mostly full, a wide selection of bottles but not very deep on selection. There are a number of domestics on tap as well. I was greeted promptly and sat at the bar. I wanted ribs but there wasn't much for rib choices on the menu. As a compromise I got a pulled pork sandwich and the riblet appetizer. Their menu includes a variety of Southern foods, friend chicken for instance, but much less smokehouse items than I would have expected. Calling it a Smokehouse makes me expect a lot of smoked items, but strangely it doesn't seem like a specialty. For instance, I really like smoked chicken wings, and they have wings but they're the traditional fried kind. I can get fried ones anywhere, why not smoke them? The riblets were juicy and hot, pre-sauced, and came in a basket with a heaping of french fries. The sandwich was the super-chopped kind, didn't have a lot of pork or smoke flavor sadly. I was given the sauces, all were OK, none terrible or wonderful. Their cole slaw I did enjoy, it's super chopped and fresh, not the Sysco bland type. The bread was a little weak as well. If the place was more crowded I could see it being a Roadhouse type fun place, totally empty it felt kind of sad. Overall a solid 2.5-3 stars, I might go back if I had a group that wanted BBQ but liked other items too. I won't go with my fish-only wife though, the menu had no fish or seafood at all. My advice for them is to focus on the smoke if they want to compete. Update: I returned for a second visit. The food was still good, I had some special wings that were quite tasty. The purpose for the update is to elaborate on the service, the bartender Elizabeth was really friendly, genuine and helpful. I hope their food rises to the level of their employees, although this is a very high bar to meet. I will amend to 3.5 stars. Thanks for reading!

From the get go, place was dead, maybe 4 tables. Thought we would get some quality service. Nope! Long my wait for drinks and food. Had to ask 3 times for water and my second beer. Sangria was watered down. Brisket was good. Watery sauces and ketchup. Ordered s "premium" side, for an extra $1, potato salad. No taste. This place needs to step up its game cause it can't compete with the likes of Sonny's BBQ s or Hog Heaven esp. when they are less expensive and have better quality food. This place won't be open past Christmas at this rate.

Bad experience tonight. They need to decide if they are a restaurant or a saloon. Went for dinner with family of six. Couldn't talk to the person next to me because of the blaring jukebox. Food didn't make it any better. Lukewarm offerings. Tasteless minced coleslaw. Caught a glimpse of the owner yet the customers were sparse. I wanted it to be a regular option but that isn't going to happen.

Had the brisket. Very tender and tasty! The green beans were really good as well. Tried the Mac and cheese. It was awesome! Highly recommend

Pretty good local BBQ place. We ordered the family special to go. They changed our side order for free (we got the mac&cheese), we also had the fried chicken which was nice and crispy-not greasy. Coming from Texas, we've had some pretty good quality BBQ. This is N. Carolina BBQ, and we enjoyed it! Their hush puppies are also VERY good and fresh! Nice joint...close to our house. We will definitely be back. A++

A casual, quiet restaurant during the day that transforms into a bar each night. Distinctly Carolina-style BBQ, meaning no syrup-y sauces (vinegar-based, rather) and with a heaping pile of slaw on the pork BBQ sandwich. Delicious sides, especially the Mac & cheese and the green beans! Pleasantly surprised overall -- we're rooting for this new restaurant featuring family recipes. My husband is a BBQ fan, me not so much, but we both really liked the food here. We'll be back before long.

Not sad to see this place GO. But I do think often about the people who spend their life savings opening a restaurant concept. During my first visit I met a charming young man who introduced himself as the "bar manager" and "restaurant consultant" for the family that had recently opened the restaurant. He was hardworking and had some knowledge of the bar / restaurant business but he didn't seem buy off on the concept. It's just difficult to start something in this business and I'd encourage anyone getting into the bar/restaurant business or even expanding to get themselves a good consultant who knows the business.

They call this place a smoke house but never been to a smoke house where there is no smell of any smoke and the brisket had zero smoke flavor. Sides were terrible and I make the same fries in my oven and they taste way better. Don't bother on trying the house bbq sauce . It is basically vinegar and crushed pepper. On the plus side the place was clean and had a good atmosphere if anybody would come in. I wanted to like this place since it is 2 min away from my house... But that's not the case

Everything I ate was OK but that's it. I will say one good thing. The Carolina BBQ pork was very unique even very good at first but vinegar was very strong and became overbearing quickly. Baked beans were decent. Mac and cheese was like overcooked kraft..clean place and very friendly waitress but the food just was not worth going back

Today was my first visit and the only reason I gave it a try was because the place advertised Carolina style Bbq. Other places I've tried usually have a "Carolina style" sauce bottle on the table that tastes like a mixture of ketchup, vinegar, and Karo syrup. This is not one of those places. Whoevers doing this knows what they're doing. Now my wife does prefer the sweeter sauce so at the waiter\barkeeps' suggestion she ordered the pulled pork sandwich and was very happy. She did add a few squirts of the house sauce after she saw my son and I takin mini shots of the house and vinegar sauce My son and I each had the Carolina platter with coleslaw and fries. The pork was chopped and excellent. Fries were crispy and perfect vehicles for more sauce consumption. The coleslaw was another tip that they really knew what they were doing. Not a mound of mayonnaise laced cabbage, but rather a crisp cabbage chop just beggin for the sauce. This is one place that I wish had an all you can eat option. I understand why they don't. Quality comes at a price and to be honest I'm just glad that ive found a place that both my wife and I can agree on for Bbq. On a down note...I do think the hush puppie portion should be larger on the platter. They're damn good and perfect with the sauce. I got 4..I wanted 20 haha The service was awesome..low key but I like that. Very knowledgeable but not pushy. Now I was going to minus a star for feeling shorted on the hush puppies BUT.....THEY HAVE JAI ALAI!!!! The best Bbq and the best beer...5 *s!!!!! side note..ask for a little shot cup behind the bar to sample the sauce ;-)

I was nervous about going here because of the reviews. I loved the lunch. The ribs were amazing with onion rings and burgers with cold slaw. We go back as often as we can. As far as the atmosphere people were saying, I think it's very comfortable. I hope it has more people who enjoy it like we do.
