Sakura Japanese Steak House and Sushi Bar Menu

Sorry, We are updating this restaurant menu details.

The nigiri pieces were small, lobster dinner was small rock lobster broiled and way over cooked. This was my second try at their food and although priced a little high, not a good choice. I left really disappointed again.

Geeze did our tab get up there. We ate at the hibachi and it was OK, no surprises. Restaurant is nicely decorated, the staff was friendly enough. I didn't care for the chef flinging food that I'm supposed to catch in my mouth; not my thing. Dinner for two including tip $130

All these positive reviews-geese, maybe they haven't had really good sushi or hibachi. Service was overly great when I've been. It very attentive. Food is ok but nothing to rave over. Hibachi is much better elsewhere and same with sushi. I give this place a mediocre rating.

We've been coming here since it first opened and have been fans. Always have fresh, good sushi. We've had the hibachi grill several times and its great. Fun. And overall nice experience. The entire family enjoys this for birthdays and family get togethers. Also have a nice selection of beer.wine and sake. Needless to say we are regulars and never had a bad experience here.

Wow, first time, not sure what took us so long! Great service, great good, everything was wonderful! We got there at five in a weds, only ones there, a little skeptical, but the server was very informational and the food, better then Kobe, or the other local hibachi! Will be back

Great selection of sushi. Probably some of the more delicious sushi I've had in the Tampa and Orlando area. And then we tried the teppanyaki there one night. Wow what great food! Prices are very fair especially the couples dinner where you get some of everything for a great price. And man these guys are lots of fun. That's what it's all about when you go to these places. Very lively and full of good times. Don't miss out on the FREE SAKI either!!

Tried it for a sushi lunch good table service and food today, however management still is to be desired.

Overall the experience was ok at Sakura. The waiter didn't come to table after taking order to see if we need anything else. They squeezes too many people in one table, it was hard to eat without touching the strangers next To you. The fried rice and noodles were good though. I ordered the steak and it was ok. The chef was friendly and performed well at the table. BTW, there are happy hours menu but you have to ask for it.

Yes, I agree the woman who identify herself as a manager is rude and should be ashamed of her customer service skills. Every time I've eaten her they do not get the orders right in house or take out. She took our takeout order and missed the most important part. Then when called about undercooked tempura, old avacados and peanuts used in the one roll I used to love, she also said we use the freshest fish and if you don't like it go somewhere else. We brought our entire order back as it wasn't cook properly, and due the shocking rudness I had noticed the quality dropping each time I went. Not only my extended family and friends but as many coworkers at the largest Healthcare employer in the bay area will hear of this. In addition I'll be contacting the Sakura franchise headquarters. Yuck and worst customer service around.

This place far surpassed my expectation! The shrimp sushi and 'beauty and beast' roll were exceptional. My daughter got chicken nuggets and fries, and even those were probably the best I've tasted! Very fast and friendly service and the food is fresh and just very very good! I want to come back tomorrow!

Having dined in the finest sushi restaurants in Manhattan, I conceded the fact that I would never find the comparable here in Brandon, Fl. I was wrong. Sakura, on Big Bend Rd is THE best sushi place I've ever had the pleasure to sample. Their special rolls are out of this world. They are creative and surprising, yet harmonious and balanced. The chefs, when given time, are interactive and happy to discuss what they are making and what each roll contains. Sitting at the sushi bar is a better show than the hibachi, though they give an above average performance there as well. A romantic evening, or a large party, this place is where to be, just call ahead so you don't have to wait up to an hour for seating. I'm a regular, and have never been disappointed. Order a Sakura roll, you won't be disappointed either.

I live in the area and decided to stop in because I had a sudden lunch time craving for sushi. I was a little disappointed that they did not honor their lunch menu on Sundays, but there was not a big difference between their lunch menu and the rest of the menu any way. There are some places in Tampa and St Pete that I'd be more excited about going to for sushi, but this place did not disappoint and is less than fifteen minutes from my house. As another reviewer had stated "food is ok but nothing to rave over" but I think the overall tone of their review was a little negative. Service was quick, courteous, and attentive but they were hardly "in the weeds" when I arrived a little past 2pm so it's hard to say how they would rate at a busier time based off this single experience. I ordered the "Salmon Lover" which includes 6 sashimi, 4 sushi, and a salmon roll as well as miso soup and a salad. The miso soup is bland as yet another reviewer has already stated and the salad is not worth writing home about either but the sushi is pretty decent. Small pieces, but there are several of them so I felt full as I left. I drank water, so not including any beverages the cost for one person's meal (including tax and a tip between 15-20%) was $25. Considering this is a "dinner" price I feel this is reasonable enough.

I took my kids here more than McDonalds! They loved the fire show and the spray sprite as much as I enjoyed the sake game. The food and service was consistently good. The location is convenient and I enjoyed every visit we made. One suggestion: Mix up your show a bit with more/other creative acts. The heart beat, train smoke and egg roll get redundant for repeat customers.

Our first and last. We love sushi and have heard good things about this place. As we walk in the restaurant, the decor was nice and inviting. But the most important part is the food. Our food was overcooked and very salty. I was so disappointed. I couldn't barely eat it. We ask for our bill and left.

Sadly, IMO this is not a sushi place. I would not recommend eating sushi, sashimi, or anything with teriyaki sauce at this restaurant. The sushi here is the same quality that you would be able to get from any Chinese buffet. The rolls are the smallest rolls I have ever seen. The nigiri sushi is sold with very small and thinly sliced pieces of fish. The teriyaki sauce is among the worst I have ever tasted; tastes like soy sauce mixed with sweet and sour sauce. The Miso soup... umm.... tastes like water. I always get decent sushi/Japanese food in Florida (on the Atlantic side). I can't even imagine how this place stays in business selling Japanese food this way.

Worst experience when I was trying to order takeout for Sushi. She said she was the manager, and she had no customer service, there is no menu on any website, and she was so not helpful. Then when I said you are very rude and have no customer service skills, she replies by saying I Don't Care! I was shocked, I am visiting from Los Angeles, and they say Angelenos are rude! Never will I go there or my family!

Our table ordered Beauty & Beast roll ,The Volcano Roll, Peanut Avocado Roll, Sushi & Sashimi Combo for 1. The presentation very nice. The taste, texture & flavor very good. The Volcano was amazing. Prices are reasonable for the quality of the food. Soothing atmosphere. 2 indoor dining areas plus outdoor patio dining.

Wanted to love it because the service was friendly and attentive. The pro's are: 1) Great and welcoming service 2) They are open to sushi roll special requests and modifications. I ordered a roll and requested eel sauce, special sauce, and green onions be added. I requested no tobiko or masago and the waitress politely nodded and returned with my roll just as ordered. 3) I love the fact that they offer a late evening happy hour with great appetizer and roll prices. I ordered and enjoyed their gyoza because of this special price. Cons: 1) They don't offer many specialty rolls. 2) The teriyaki beef was drenched in teriyaki sauce to the point that it pretty much ruined the entree. I prefer JYL Samarai Sushi or Crazy Cafe Sushi down the road a few miles in either direction; but this place is closer to my home, so I'll take it in a tight pinch.

The place is fun & the chefs do a great show. Food from the grill is good. As for sushi I guess they can do better !

I tried this place twice several months apart with different people, and have to sadly say I won't ever try it again. Everyone of us considered it a below average experience in food (sushi sashimi rolls). Dry looking sushi fish just slapped onto a ball of rice. Small and fairly flavorless sashimi. Tuna roll had fishy smell. Even service was lame. Had to ask twice to get water. If you're happy with average then eat here. If you know and enjoy decent sushi and sashimi then avoid.

Sakura is... gorgeous. Unfortunately I'm probably gonna have to find another sushi fix when I'm in Riverview because they're a wee bit expensive for me. I was in the area working so stopped in for take-out: 2 rolls, the Fancy Dragon Roll ($12.95) and Hawaiian Roll ($11.95). That's a couple dollars more per roll than I'm use to spending for similar, bigger specialty rolls at my local sushi spot. It wasn't any better either. Good, don't get me wrong, just not better. Now that I got my el cheapo spiel out of the way, I want to double back around to the décor. I didn't see it coming. It's very organized. It's super clean, the bathrooms smelled amazing. Is that a weird statement? Yeah it is, but it's true. This place is sleek. They have the whole dim lighting with neon lights thing going on. If the fancy stuff is your thing, you'll love Sakura. I'm a simple guy, I just wanted some sushi for lunch and didn't want to pay extra for the ambiance when I'm just stopping in for take-out. However, if you are looking for a place to sit down and have a nice lunch, dinner, to take a date. This is a good option. Would I go back? Absolutely. In fact, I'm looking at their menu and noticed they do have some lunch specials. Maybe I'll give that a try next time.

As a previous employee of a Japanese steak house (which will remain unnamed) I can say this place is five star. The chefs are actually fun and enthusiastic and the food is mad good. This place is so good it has two yelp pages

Being a veteran of Benihana country wide (there aren't any in the Tampa area), wife and I bravely ventured into Sakura for dinner, Friday night. We were expecting bad news as the parking lot was almost full but on the other hand it might speak volumes about how good the place is if there are that many people there. Expecting a very long wait we were pleasantly surprised being told 5 minutes. The wait wasn't even that long and we were seated at the familiar habachi seating around the cooking surface. Drink orders taken, meal orders taken and the soup shows up. The typical miso soup and salad was the same as every other this type of restaurant . The chef shows up, yes he was Asian. Believe it or not but we've had Mexican chefs at Benihana in California, very weird. The chef was chatty and whopped it up and did the mandatory juggling with the fork and spatula, great fun. The cooking started with fried rice, noodles (never saw that at Benihana) and the veggies. The rice and noodles were absolutely delicious. Next was the entree, steak and shrimp in our case. You watch your meal cook in front of you with the chef joking and playing around. The shrimp was awesome, the steak over cooked. Veggies were perfect. I personally love this type of food and cooking and I was very pleased. We will return and correct the overcooked steak issue easily. I wold rate Sakura 3 and half stars if I could. When we go back and hopefully get the steak right I'll revise to a full 4 stars. If you never been to a place like this go, you will have tons of fun. Don't miss the sake squirting, Benihana never does that either.

My whole family loves Sakura's. It's our favorite restaurant. We've been going since they first opened. We always choose their dine-in sushi section, not the Hibachi. The waitresses know us, our kids and our orders! They have a kid's menu that features traditional Japanese cuisine in smaller sizes, as well as chicken and french fries. That is what my youngest (now 6) always orders. My oldest, who is 7, likes their Spicy Tuna rolls and their Vegetable Lo Mein. He only wants broccoli in his, and that's how they make it. My husband usually gets their Ginger Salad and I choose a Miso Soup to start. Then we dive into delicious rolls! Their prices for their "regular" rolls are within the norm. We like their Spicy Tuna, Philly, and Shrimp Tempura. You do pay almost double for the more flavorful specialty rolls. From that section I suggest Spicy Girl, Explosion, Lava or Hawaiian. My husband likes to drink their Kirin Ichiban. I love their plum wine. For a family of four, we usually end up spending $75 on dinner. They do have discounts and specials for their Happy Hour from Monday - Thursday - 4:30 - 6:00pm. A lot of popular dishes and drinks are 1/2 off. Saves us a bundle on those nights.

Service was very prompt and friendly. The food was very quick and quite tasty. We went for sushi which was quite good and very fresh. My son had the tempura shrimp and it was fantastic. I will definitely be going back. I would recommend it to anyone looking for good Japanese in Riverview. I can't wait to try the hibachi!

  • Krystal J.

The food was good but wasn't happy with service. We went for hibachi and was told since only one person was having hibachi I had to have it cooked in the kitchen. Couldn't have it cooked in front of me for one person then said we had to sit at bar and wait to be seated and order food all over. One waitress couldn't give our order to the other. The second waitress was great though once we were finally seated.

Enjoyed this place. Food is good, environment is good and service is good. Hard to find good sushi places in Tampa but this is one of three I found. I recommended this place.

Terrible. Worst teriyaki I've ever tasted. Could not eat it. My husband tried the sushi. It was awful too. Told the waitress the food was not good. She brought the bill. I paid and went to another restaurant across the street.

I live in the area and watched this restaurant get renovated but since it has been operating have not gone to try it out. Today I decided to have lunch here and am I ever glad I did. The decor is sleek and clean. 5/5 The service is spot on and top notch. 5/5 The food is spectacular. 5/5 The speed of food put out is a bit slow if you don't have time to wait. 3.5/5 I had the sashimi regular with assorted raw fish and was so impressed with the presentation, freshness, and selection. In addition, I ordered the unagi roll and being a sushi snob I knew this place was the real deal when I saw how little rice they put on the rolls. No more Publix sushi for me, only Sakura from now on when I'm craving.

  • Cathie D.

Finally, a great local sushi place! The explosion roll & passion roll are great specialty rolls! The hibachi food looked great too! The service was lacking, but it was a Friday night @ 6:30pm on Good Friday so I'm hoping that was a fluke! Great decor too!

I have to admit, the food was really good. Its good to know that AB is starting to get good restaurants. I ordered the steak and scallops (my hibachi staple) and it was delicious. My only gripe is their drink menu. I tried to order sake and it took 3 tried for me to finally get someting that was in stock.

In the trend of Japanese restaurants (Hibachi-style, dramatic cooking in front of you, etc), this place hits it right down the middle. But it does so with good food. We started with Sushi (salmon and tuna). Both were very good and well prepared. For main course, the beef, chicken, and shrimp were all good. The shrimp were large and very tasty. The servings were very large, with lots of rice, noodles, and veggies. Our chef was very entertaining, with jokes and tricks, really knowing how to work his audience. Excellent place for kids.

Absolutly love this place, the food is great and the prices are comparable to any other japanese steakhouse! My daughtter was scared of the fire show, but they were nice to her and us ..lol. ill definetly be returning! p.s. something I always look for is the quality of service..and this place definetly didn't have it! The staff was slow, dull and boring as if they didn't care to even be there! They prob figure we(tthe customer) r going to tip anyways so what's the point! Non the less very unimpressed but like I said the chefs were great!

Great food, comparable to Kobe. Great entertainment. Love this place, have been several times and will be back again. Glad we have something like this in our area. It is pricier then the area norm but you get what you pay for.

I just went there for lunch today with my wife. We walked in for a quick meal for lunch and both of us ordered the 2 roll lunch special. Honestly the rolls were barely bigger than my thumb. I had the jalapeno yellowtail roll and it wasn't even spicy. I actually thought they used green peppers instead of the J's. I'm sure the fish is very fresh but it was also icy cold and I could barely even taste the fish itself. The prices are 3-4 dollars higher than anywhere else I've seen for a smaller quantity of food. I don't think I'll be going back

Food was mediocre and service was awful. We had a 15 person reservation for 8pm and were not seated until after 9pm. We were then sat at a table that could not accommodate our party. The manager did nothing to assure us that we would be taken care of. At the end of it, almost 11pm, we had a bill for over $400 and no discount or anything for the troubles we went through. The manager did not even come over once to see how our meal was, let alone apologize.

We really enjoyed the sushi and the sushi bar...Kenny rocked the rolls!! The spicy girl was my favorite! Will definitely go back!!! Can't speak about the rest of the menu; however, the sushi and service was worth the visit!

  • Katelyn B.

Love this place. So glad this area got a hibachi place. Servers aren't super friendly but chefs are awesome with all ages! It's your typical hibachi place as far as food and price goes. My advise is to make a reservation. Small parties get stuck with others but that's normal. It's a lot of fun.

  • Nicole S.

Although the quality of fish was average, the portion size was extremely small (approximately 1/3 the size of a typical roll). In addition, I was apalled at the poor service. After walking in the door at 2:45 pm, it took 3-4 minutes before a hostess appeared. Instead of welcoming us to the restaurant, the first words out of her mouth were "we only serve food until 3pm." Since we knew what we wanted, we ordered right away. We rushed through our meal and by 3:10pm, we had already given our card to the server to pay our bill. However, when the server returned with our card, she said, "umm, we closed at 3 so you need to leave." Seriously??!? If you want customers to leave by 3pm, then don't seat customers after 2:30. If you want my business, then allow me ample time to finish my meal. I will definitely never return to this sorry excuse for a restaurant.

My husband and I sat at the sushi bar (rather than hibachi). The sushi and sashimi are incredibly fresh. We had the yellowtail and jalapeño appetizer...it was so good (especially since they use fresh jalapeño for an extra kick). Also ordered the tuna sashimi and the explosion roll. Again so fresh that the tuna actually melted in your mouth. It is becoming a once a week thing for us. Highly recommend it! Only thing I would change is the wine by the glass list but it is a sushi bar so having cheap house wine is standard :-)

Tuff review to write because I am sushi-spoiled. It is a long background, but let's say that I've had the pleasure of sharing some of the best sushi served on the East Coast at the hands of the incomparable Naomichi Yasuda as he guided me through the subtle nuances of the art. If you don't know that name, you don't know sushi. So I'm in Riverview, and I'm trying hard to be fair. I'm going to do a simple stupid grading to make my life easier and the info easy for the reader: Décor: A+ ... recently transformed from what I understand, the place is perfect. Staff: A+ ... it was lunch on a Saturday, a little active but not busy .. but they were prompt, polite and attentive. Food: B- ... there's need for a bit of story here unfortunately. There are many Asian arts that border on cult like fanaticism. It is quite cultural. An individual can spend a lifetime learning how to make a noodle correctly and become a master. So too is the art of Sushi Rice. Recipes and process are family secrets and some date hundreds if not thousands of years old. I can't stress this enough, the rice matters...significantly. It is arguably 90% of the dish. Few American sushi lovers know this until they are exposed and educated and this is actually a curse. You can never go back to "ordinary". So Sakura makes a great presentation, aesthetically appealing, but their rice is just "rice". Should one expect the real deal in the middle of Riverview, FL? .. absolutely not ... but would an imitation be in order ... I think so. You are close enough to Tampa to find a few sophisticated patrons. Have a chef get on a plane or maybe Orlando and find out the basics of the rice. You'll do more business than you can handle. Price: C ... They know what Toro is .. and have it. At $4 a piece (which is fine if it is made well) is overpriced for their version. Mind you I've paid embarrassing prices for tuna where only the bravo or insane would venture. I'm one of the few folks who had the Fugu at the hands of Yasuda, my life literally in his expert hands. One thing I want to add for all Yelpers ... isn't it time we rebel against the $2 soft drink? The endless refills aside -- soda costs 15 cents a glass if it is from a fountain , all in (ice, cleaning, the server, the straw) ... the mark up is only there because we allow it. I find it borderline disrespectful. We should collectively bring the price to something that isn't abusive, especially as it is a carcinogen.

I actually cooked at a Hibachi restaurant for five years so I am very critical when it comes to these kinds of restaurants. In general, I avoid them because I always end up being disappointed. However, Sakura is a different story! Great staff! Great food! (Both Hibachi and Sushi) Great show! I have never been disappointed dining here or ordering food to go. Definitely a fan! Highly recommend!

Great sushi and hibachi for the Riverview area. Sushi chef Kenny is one of the best. Staff is friendly. Friday and Saturday nights can be a little bit of a wait because of the popularity. Recommend the explosion roll and the spicy girl for sushi. The chefs at the hibachi grills are definetly entertaining.

My wife and I ate here on a Sunday afternoon. I'm Vegan and she is pretty much a vegetarian. Thus I had Teriyaki Tofu and my wife had Vegetable Tempura. The balance of our meals were way off. The Teriyaki had just 6 small pieces of vegetables and 15 pieces of Tofu (3"X1"X1") along with a bowl of rice. Now while I do like Tofu, it would of been nice to have an even balance of vegetables and Tofu. The Tempura batter was like a heavy grease beer batter instead of a light batter. In-fact my wife removed 75% of the batter because there was so much of it. When she was done, it looked like she had a meal of just batter still on her plate. Both of our meals had a heavy use of SALT. Now the service was excellent, both our meals were served hot and the place was clean. A big turn-off off about this place was the music. The music was loud American and Japanese Techno. Someone had a birthday and they cranked up the volume on this nauseating birthday song. Both my wife and I thought we were in some kind of bar instead of in a real restaurant. My wife and I frequently eat out and what we are finding is that more and more restaurants are playing music not for the customers but what the employees want. When customers go out to eat, I think most go to a restaurant for a really great dining experience, not to hear loud music going "Boom, boom, boom". There are bars for that.

I drove down from Inverness with a friend to pick up an eBay purchase and saw Sakura on the way back. We were both hungry and I hadn't had sushi since moving here from Massachusetts so I made a u-turn and parked the car. It was about 11:45 on a Sunday morning and they hadn't opened yet. The hostess was outside cleaning the windows and she told us it would be a couple minutes, but we could wait at the outside tables. I'm glad we waited. Our hostess came and got us at about 11:55 and brought us to our seat. We opted to skip the hibachi as we were only there for the sushi. My friend had only had sushi twice before and had me order for the 2 of us. I got the Sushi Deluxe which came with the chef's choice of 10 pieces of sushi and a spicy salmon roll. I also ordered 2 orders (4 pieces) of unagi (smoked eel) sushi and a tuna roll. We were served miso soup and a small garden salad with the house ginger dressing. The soup was good and the salad was crisp and fresh. The ginger dressing tasted like a french dressing with ginger, but was good, but I would have preferred a stronger ginger punch and next time I will ask for some pickled ginger to punch it up. The sushi arrived with plenty of wasabi and pickled ginger. The unagi was perfect. It was nicely wrapped with a small piece of seaweed and drizzled with unagi tasty sauce. They had removed all the skin which I had forgotten to ask them to do. Some places leave it on, but it's tough and detracts from the wonderful creamy soft flavor of the unagi. They chef's choice was a nice combination of tuna, salmon, white fish, shrimp (cooked) and yellow fin. It was all extremely fresh and flavorful. The tuna roll was also fresh and very good, but the star of the meal was the spicy salmon roll. It was different than any other I had had. As well as being wonderfully fresh, it had a delightful crunch to it that I had never experienced. It was so good that I ordered another. I asked what gave it the crunch and was told they use crushed, fried tempura batter. Another thing I will say about Sakura is their cleanliness. The entire restaurant was immaculate. From the freshly cleaned windows to the tables, floors, bar and everything in between, it was spotless. I also visited the men's room and that too was spotless and even had a fresh smell to it. They even went the extra mile in the fixtures; the sink was a very nice raised glass bowl. I will definitely go there again and if you are looking for excellent sushi at a very reasonable price, I suggest you go too.

It's ok! Great presentation but the rolls were lacking! Try the volcano, I saw one of the chefs make it and it looked phenomenal!!! Otherwise, concept is great, it's just missing that little something extra!

This is my first time here. Sat at the sushi bar and met Kenny the sushi chef, he is very nice. My server came relatively quickly order the green house salad and a drink. My salad came a few minutes after ordering, it was good the presentation was average but it tasted good. I ordered a volcano roll and Philly roll from Kenny, he asked some questions on how I liked it which I thought was great. He made the volcano with the spicy crab on top in lieu of what the menu had on it. My server came often to check on me and refill my drink throughout. The two rolls came out and the presentation was nice and it tasted GREAT! For my first visit the service was good and the specialty rolls were great the philly roll was good as well. Kenny is good at what he does and I will be back.

Nice atmosphere, clean facility, excellent service and good food. We had the chicken teriyaki lunch box, which came with California rolls, gyoza, rice and half an orange along with a sautéed chicken cutlet with onion. The meal also included miso soup and a small salad. It was a nice balance of items and portions. Everything was tasty, and the price was reasonable.

Be warned and don't get ripped off! I must say I am very disappointed in this place. I have been here several times and I enjoyed it every time. The food or service has never been an issue until today. The food was still good....but the managers attitude was absolutely terrible! I ordered a bottle of saki that was advertised as a $7 bottle at 300 mls.....when I got the bottle it was 180 mls....quite a discrepancy. I asked the waitress and she tells me that there is only 1 size and one price. Ok? Well then why does your menu say otherwise. The manager comes over and tells me that I am wrong and that she's charging me full price for that bottle because someone else made a mistake on the menu. Now keep in mind....there is almost half of the bottle missing....it's their menu and I am pointing out a simple discrepancy....it's only a few dollars but it's the point of the matter at hand. I am sure that many people order that bottle and pay full price for a 300 ml bottle and end up with 180 mls and never even know the difference. Anyways the so called manager knew I was right and gave me a terrible attitude! It was my mothers birthday and I spent close to $200 on a Saturday afternoon. I live locally....I just don't think that this is how you should treat your locals and the people that can either make or break your business. This is my reason behind writing this review is for other locals to be aware of that pricing discrepancy and be aware of the attitude you may receive if you point out the discrepancy. I truly hope that they fix their menu and get a different manager to handle these situations moving forward.

Love their happy hour - you can get out under $30 (with drinks!) and have a great meal with some pretty decent rolls. Service is usually pretty friendly, although the area for the happy hour seating is small. We're here a few times a month and have always had a good time.

After some very good news that my breast biopsies were negative, I decided to take my family out to dinner to celebrate ( Wait! Shouldn't they have taken me out?). Anyhow we decided on Sakura. We went early enough that we were seated immediately. Someone asked quite quickly what we would like to drink and if we wanted any appetizers. I think the service here is wonderful. We ordered the Hawaiian Roll and chicken tempura with tempura vegetables. I loved the Hawaiian Roll. Filled with coconut shrimp and topped with slices of fresh mango.. Heaven. Hubby & son downed the tempura in no time. Then the show started. The typical knife toss and flaming hibachi! I had my 3 year old twin grandsons with us and one almost fell off his chair when the flames shot up. Honestly, that was the best part of the show. Saki was shot into our mouths until we couldn't hold any more. The meal was very good too. Rice, noodles, steak, chicken. Hubby had shrimp and Dtr-in-law had calamari. Miso soup & ginger "lettuce" were Ho hum. All said though, we all liked it. We ordered chicken tenders & fries for the twins , but they seemed to like my hibachi chicken more and were even dunking it in the sauces they give you with the meal. All in all it was a great meal. Our chef could have been A bit more entertaining, but heck, the twins made up for him.

In an area with so few decent restaurants, Sakura really stands out. After moving from South Florida six years ago, my wife and I have been in a minor state of dismay regarding the quality of restaurants in the South Shore area. Since Sakura has opened, we have at least one (OK, a couple) consistently good restaurant within a reasonable driving distance. We always eat in the dining room (vs. the hibachi dining and show). The sushi is really good, and the hibachi dinners are excellent as well. I saw one review indicating that the food is a little pricey. Are you kidding? You can get the Sakura dinner for two - Filet mignon, chicken, lobster tail, shrimp, scallops, soup, salad, rice and noodles for $50 FOR TWO PEOLE. And it's all really good. The only reason I did not award five stars is because of the servers. It's not that they're slow or rude - if anything, they're too fast sometimes. But some of them don't speak English that well, don't smile much, etc.. One you've come a few times and they get to know you they relax a little, but they just don't do much to set a pleasant atmosphere. They also have little or no training on how to open a bottle of wine, etc.. But in the culinary wilderness that is Tampa Bay's south shore, that's a small complaint.

People say location location location. This place screams experience experience experience! Hibachi has never been more fun and satisfying. The staff and chefs make the wait worth it! The atmosphere and food make it my new favorite restaurant! I will easily go out of my way to this Gibsonton gem.

We have dined in and gotten to-go plenty of times and have never been disappointed. The sushi is fresh and the noodles that come with the hibachi are SO GOOD. Like seriously, we crave them alone! Yum-yum sauce is great and the cooks will pour sake down your throat while cooking if you let them. Great add to the Summerfield/Riverview Area. Favorite rolls: Hawaiian, Lava & Explosion rolls.

On my first visit I was VERY disappointed. The service was lacking, the food was bland, and the table chef was unskilled. My party left feeling like we were robbed. BUT, after a few months we decided to give it another try. We were happily surprised! The night went very nice, the table chef was skilled, entertaining , and everything was cooked to perfection. We will be going back

We've eaten here twice at the Hibachi area and the chef's were great with the kids and the food was yummy. Prices weren't too crazy either.

We waited a long time for this restaurant to open and it was worth the wait. We usually get the hibachi and it's always good. We were tired of waiting to get in Tokyo and this place is better and closer to home.

Hostess stand could be friendlier. The wait for a chef to come to the table can be about 20 minutes. Other than that the food is delicious and wait staff are efficient and the prices are spot on. The chef is very funny and has unique acts. They do offer free Sachi by squirting it in your mouth during the show, if you want it. Check this place out! They have amazing lunch specials too!
