LOVE-LOVE-LOVE Jim's BBQ pork sandwiches. We usually order the large (extra meat) sandwich on grilled garlic bread and ask for extra BBQ sauce on the side for dipping. They make the Best BBQ sauce ever- sweet n tangy! Sometimes I buy the sauce by the quart and take it home with me. We have been stopping here for several years on our way up and down the state. We have saved their phone number and call ahead to have our order ready to go when we get there. The place looks like a dive with marginal bathrooms and limited seating but the good food makes up for the amenities. I didn't care for the brisket- too dry but I love the ribs. The ribs are fall off the none good with perfect seasoning. We always buy several bags of their fried peanuts. They are made on property and always fresh!
Wow. Lured in by the billboards on the way back from Disney, Jim's promised great brisket. What Jim's delivered was something less than great. Jim's is a gas station, convenience store and restaurant. The gas station does not have many pumps and is difficult to navigate. The convenience store is interesting. It is cluttered with nick knacks and has a relatively poor selection of snacks. There is a large collection of signs and postcards (see photo) that may be of interest. The restroom was acceptable. There was a massive metal sink and an air dryer for your hands. Normally I hate air dryers, but this one dried my soaking wet hands in 15 seconds (literally). It blows out air at an alarming speed. If only all air dryers were like this. As for the restaurant, we ordered a sliced and chopped brisket sandwich. The brisket seemed dry and had little smoke flavor. It wasn't bad, but it wasn't good either. The employees were friendly and had lots of character as did some of the customers. Would I stop at Jim's again? Probably not, but it was definitely an experience.
I had the Rib Dinner the first time and the Rib, Brisket and Pork dinner the second time. Both were amazing. Love the ribs the best!! (Next to their pecan pie with ice cream on top...
