I did my usual test of a new BBQ joint and ordered ribs and chicken. First shock was the price only $10.99 for a dinner plate is pretty impressive. Plate came with fries, beans, slaw and Texas Toast. Beans were top notch, full of flavour and meat. The slaw was crisp and tasty not overly sweet. Toast was good and so were the fries. The Ribs were very good, a nice smoke and meaty, they were tasty enough they didn't need any sauce adding. The chicken was not so great, the skin was crisp and Smokey with a real nice color, but the meat was dry. It may have been left to sit to keep warm a little too long or just overcooked from the start. I always think Chicken is a great measure of a BBQ chef, its so easy to dry it out, it takes a cook who pays real close attention to what he's doing. I'll definitely go back and probably just order straight up ribs. Nice place, pleasant staff and very reasonable prices make the review worth 3.5 stars. Conquer that chicken and I'll happily bump it up to 5

I ate here the same week I ate at Wally's and would give them another try. I think I'd prefer to eat again before offering up a decision on who's better.

Awful! The baby back ribs were totally burned on one side. The meat is not pit BBQ- no sign of smoker outside. The sides were bad; sour cole slaw, and 'from the can' beans. The only good thing was the toast. Wally's blows this away.

Crowds since it opened got us to try it. Food will bring us back. We had Wally's in Port Charlotte as out top BBQ place in town. Not anymore. TPulled Pork was eaten without even thinking about adding sauce because I didn't want to mess with the flavor. Beans were about the best I've had with a sweetness that was delightful. Lunch special was a lot of food!! They know what they are doing and it shows. Service was good but it probably will be slower when they are packed. Wouldn't bother me because I'll jus keep eating! his place blows Wally's out of the water!!! Full bar as well!!

Great food. Beans, ribs, and corn fritters were top notch. However strange interaction with the bartender. She didn't know what triple sec was and was kinda condescending to my mother about what kind of margarita she should order. Also Texas toast was kinda iffy but overall was pleased.

A neat new place in town. Really good smoke taste, great catfish, huge burgers and tender ribs. Good nitely specials. Authentic BBQ sauces add Texas toast. Chicken very tasty too. Full bar and selection of beer.

Their early bird specials are wonderful and very reasonable as well as their regular menu! I've always had a delicious meal there and their homemade beans and coleslaw are a delicious compliment to their ribs or bbq chicken or anything on their menu! The servers are so friendly and knock themselves out making sure everything is just right! The atmosphere is fun and typical bbq style!

Do yourself a favor and eat here. I had the platter with chicken ribs and pork. Everything was great! The beans. Alone are worth stopping for. More food than you can eat and very well priced. We will be back!

Just stopped here and ordered a full rack of baby back ribs. I got tiniest slab of ribs ever and they were burnt and tough. That was after I asked to switch tables and was made to feel like I wasn't allowed and it was a huge inconvenience. Definitely won't be back.

Great food , good service. Came for the first time tonight and really enjoyed it. Will come back for sure , since Port Charlotte has limited choices for good food unless you like chessy chain restuarants this is by far one of the best around.

  • Darian M.

The sides were very limited and they didn't have Mac and cheese as a side what bbq place doesn't have Mac and cheese? They also didn't have brisket which is what I was looking for. I had the pulled pork and it was okay. I went with three other people and the table we sat at was barely big enough to fit everything on, we had to move condiments and such and put them on the table next to ours.

Nice family run BBQ restaurant. The four stars are for the beans. The BBQ meat was average. Not many dinner choices in the area after 8 PM in the area - this is one of them.

  • Andrew D.

A nice place to go to get some really good BBQ. The service is great and the food arrives to the table quickly. My only quirk is the atmosphere could be a little more welcoming, it's a little dry. Overall, a great place to go to pick on some BBQ for a nice price!

Looked fwd to trying our neighborhood latest resturant. My wife ordered the roast beef dinner i had half rack of St.Louis ribs. The beef looked as it had just come off the Cisco truck..... lack of smoke ring and no real smoke flavor.Ribs were soso. I ask why the had no briscut as it not shown on menu. Was told It was but they didnt have any. Asked if they had smoked ends? She didnt know. What kind of bbq joint dosent have brisket and smoked ends. ILL stick with Wallies Where they at least smoke their meats and have the staples of a bbq house. Tom S.

We travel around the USA hunting for local spots specializing in regional barbecue. This is not a chain. This is the real thing Because of some recent surgery I am restricted to pureed foods. This is one of the restaurants who will accommodate customers who have special dietary needs. The head cook immediately consented to run my order through the blender. It was the most delicious and nutritious meals I've had for days on the road when some days I've been reduce to eating instant oat meal, chopped up fast food scrambled eggs and chocolate milk shakes. We went to the original restaurant at 4760 South Cleveland Ave in Fort Myers, FL and met a partner who started off as a busboy before he and the rest of the family bought the business from the original owners. These are a few things first timers need to know: 1.The VIDDLES BAR is a self serve salad bar. It is stocked with potato salad, cole slaw, black eyed peas, beets and beans. 2. On site cooked soup. I had vegetable rice with pork 3. Great pies 4. Affordable Family Style Dinner packages 5. Salad for those watching their carbs 6. For those who want to avoid EMPTY carb, choose baked sweet potato instead of backed white potato Is it anti climatic to add that all this service and variety tastes good too? I've had trouble finding restaurants that healthy people can enjoy and at which I can eat more than the mashed potatoes. Smoke 'N Pit set me taste buds a smokin' w/o chokin' --------JOKE:) In conclusion, it you've recently had dental work and can't chew or surgery which prevents you from swallowing lumpy food this place should be your destination restaurant. If you're a FOODIE who seeks out regional cuisine than this a Florida Cuisine must eat restaurant.

Went to lunch there for the first time. Loved it. The service was great. The variety on the menu was very appealing. The house BBQ sauce is worth going back for. It was the best BBQ place i've been to in town.

Good stuff! Very clean, good service, very good price point, good food. Had one of the 'special' lunch items. Country fried steak, mashed potatoes w/gravy, very tasty green beans. All for $6.95. Not sure I can pay that little at any fast food restaurant for the same price & quality. Also good to see most tables occupied. it's a "be back."

  • Dwight F.

Got to say I wasn't impressed it isn't nearly as good as Wally's but it's better than Sonny's. The pulled pork was like eating a sloppy Joe. I couldn't taste the smoke or the seasoning. The sliced pork was bland as were the beans. I did like their cole slaw and ice tea.

Great place, food service. The wait staff is willing to accommodate. The lunch specials are almost always a good deal. One thing, they need to fix the phone number on the sign outside the port Charlotte location. It is for the FT Meyers location currently.

Pretty decent BBQ joint tucked away in a strip mall. The beans were delicious and the smoked turkey was tender.good portion sizes for the price.

I recommend the "feast for two"! You get a lot more than two people can eat at one time. All the meats were perfectly cooked. You can't beat the value. The food is better than one might expect from looking at the outside off the building. Try it, you'll like it.

I am pretty finicky & I really liked it here. The first time we went with our Son, Dil & three grandchildren ages 8,5 & 2. Everyone enjoyed the meal. We ordered the family special for 4, which was sliced beef, pork, ribs chicken, beans, coleslaw & potatoes, plus we also ordered full rack of baby back ribs ( they didn't come on the special) & two kids meals, plus beverages. The beers were 2/1, we had Mich Ultra which were served in Frosted mugs & were ice cold. Soda & iced tea are served in very large glasses. Everything was delicious! Not too much smoke. The hot bbq sauce is brought out from the kitchen. There was plenty of food, we had leftovers. Everything was really good! Service was great! Have been back several times & always good. The restaurant is really clean too! Prices are good. There are lines so be prepared for a wait in season.

The food was delicious, the baked beans especially. But the one thing that surprised me was we probably were waiting 20 minutes for the bill and we decided to bring the bill to the counter and the waiter came out eating food. Bad service.

Just had the rib dinner was pretty good, sauce was OK. Ribs where plentiful and moist. Not bad for a smoker style cooking. It's hard to get a permit today for old pit style bbq restaurants. Nice to see these folks open up. I like this place way better that the other BBQ in town
