This was a neat place off the beaten path. We are from the Midwest so we don't eat a lot of seafood but the fried shrimp was delicious. My husband said he had never saved a hush puppy for last but they were so good, he did! The sides were plentiful - we had enough okra, mashed potatoes and candied yams for two meals. The building is old and has a very musty smell but the service was excellent and the food was filling.
The food is okay. I wasn't super impressed but it is not meant to be a 5 star gourmet restaurant. The service is great. Very nice people.
I gave 5 stars because of the service and the impressive sandwiches. Wonderful gem of a southern cafe. I had the fish sandwich, which was catfish, fresh and delicious and was absolutely wonderful and worth every penny of $4. My husband had the club sandwich and it was piled high with bacon and ham and thick tomato on fresh bread. A table close by got a double bacon cheeseburger and it looked amazing. Onion rings were good, however French fries were not good. I would avoid the chicken wings, they were soft and not worth $6.
