I wasn't sure what to expect when I got here. Ive been to several Mexican restaurants before and this one is definitely in my top 2! I ordered pollo a la plancha and every bite was packed with flavor, Delicious! To wash that down I had the coconut margarita with coconut shaving , it was also delicious ($2.50 each with entree) and I'm not much of a margarita person. I definitely recommend it and certainly will be back!!

After living 3 years in Charlotte, I was craving a trip home for a dinner at La Bamba. Palomilla Steak, Black Beans and Rice, Plantains. Let me put it to you this way... I drove 11 hours and had dinner here as my first stop, before even checking into my hotel. Worth the 11 hour drive.

I love La Bamba!!! They have multiple locations and they're consistent at each one. I love the chips and salsa. I like spice so I mix the spicy salsa with the mild for a perfect combination! I usually get the same thing when I come - the Super Nachos. I love the bean to cheese to sour cream to guac ratio portioned out on each chip and they have jalapenos and lettuce in the middle if you want to add it to the nachos for texture/spice. I add that along with my signature salsa and it's perfection. Do not eat this if you're dieting however!!! They have inexpensive lunch specials, which is also another plus. The service is usually good and margaritas are tasty too. The sangria is just okay in my opinion but the food outweighs that one little thing.

Had dinner here tonight. I had a beef taco, and a beef enchilada. They were both very good. The service was spot on and extremely fast. This is the 2nd time I've eaten here and both times were very good. Great spot!!!

I've been dining at this place for years and I believe they are a solid 4 star rating. Last night I had the steak fajitas and my boyfriend had the steak burro. The steak fajitas were perfectly seasoned and were served with onions, green and red peppers, and chunks of tomatoes - I could do without the tomatoes. On the side, there's a plate of lettuce, tomatoes, pico de gallo, cheese, and guacamole. If you want a side of sour cream, it's $1. The steak burro is HUGE, but he still manages to finish it every time he orders it. That's his favorite meal there and he's satisfied every time he orders it. It's served with refried beans and yellow rice but you can substitute the rice and beans for something else. The service is always great. Once your seated, there's someone dropping off their homemade mild sauce along with their fresh tortilla chips. They also serve hot sauce on the side, but mild is the way I go. Most servers there make sure that your drinks and chips and salsa are full. You can really fill up on the chips and salsa, it's very addicting. During lunch, they offer great lunch specials. There's about 10 - 15 items on their lunch menu. The lunch special comes with either a soda or a cup of soup and your choice of meal. I always opt for the cup of chicken noodle soup when I done for lunch. The chicken noodle soup is delicious. It's served in a light broth with some veggies, noodles, and fresh cilantro. I've had other things on the menu such as pollo a la plancha, chicken fajitas, ropa vejja, chicken enchiladas, and palomilla steak. My go to dishes are the chicken fajitas or palomilla steak. The reason why I'm taking away 1 star is because Mexican & Spanish food is supposed to be cheap. Last night I noticed they changed their menus and they also changed their prices, everything went up. It's crazy how you can go to Chipolte (I know that's a fast food restaurant and this is a sit down restaurant) which is right down the street for under $10 a meal when my meal was double the price.

This is another of my workday lunch spots, although I stopped coming as often because I found the quality not to be as good as it once was, not that it was ever superior 5 star quality, but lately the flavor has been lacking, I used to love their fried pork chunks but lately I have found them to be very dry and tough. La Bamba serves Americanized Mexican food more like Tex-Mex than authentic Mexican cuisine. They offer daily inexpensive lunch specials which include a soft drink or a cup of chicken soup. Service is friendly but always hustling during the lunch rush, the chips and salsa are always promptly served as soon as you seat down, warm fresh chips and great tasting salsa. The food comes out frightening fast, it's like they have most of it already cooked (maybe that's why its sometimes dry), good place to come for a casual fast lunch at very reasonable prices. The dining room is bright and festive with both booths and tables.

More of a 3.5 for me. This restaurant serves both Mexican and Spanish food. Anywhere from Fajitas to Ropa Vieja and in between. The booths throughout the dining area are very tight. You go to sit in them and your boobs are laying on top of the table. Lol no lie. And if your a guy with a half keg stomach, oh yeah good luck!!! Haha Service is fast and attentive. The chips and salsa were very good. The Margaritas are on the strong side. Not sure what kind of sour mix they use but I have had much better Margaritas. I ordered the Steak Fajitas and they were good. The meat was a bit tough and they could have used more seasoning for flavor. We ate our dinners and thought agh it's ok. I am looking forward to trying other food items so I can love this place. They have happy hour, ladies night and other specials throughout the week. Give it a try!

If you are looking for a restaurant that serves authentic Mexican/Spanish food, then I highly recommend checking out La Bamba. This is a go to place for my husband and I when we are in the Fort Lauderdale area. The service is great, and so are the food and margaritas! On our most recent visit, I had the crab chimichanga. It is stuffed (and they're not kidding when they say that on the menu) with crabmeat, deep fried and and covered with melted cheese and ranchera sauce. Mmmmm! Sour cream, guacamole, and rice are served on the side. The chips and salsas that they bring to your table while you're waiting for your meal are also very good. They bring one mild salsa and one hot salsa. I have only tried the mild so far. It is a delicious salsa. The next time we are in town, we will make a point to stop in again.

  • Rachel V.

I don't know what the hype is with this place, I'd say chipotle is better and definitely Roccos Tacos is better. The decor was old and dusty which made me question the cleanliness in the back. The food tasted all the same, COVERED IN CHEESE. the salsa tasted like tostitos to be honest. Took 20 minutes to get a beer because the bar was backed up? You don't need to be a bartender to give me a beer!

Fellow Yelpers, What makes a good Mexican/Spanish restaurant? Good chips and salsa and great margaritas!! They have both!! This is one of my favorite spots for Mexican/Spanish. Yes this restaurant is a Mexican and Spanish restaurant. They have traditional Mexican and Spanish dishes. Everything is tasty and spot on. Food is always served hot and fresh. My favorite dish is the Piccadilo. Their salsa is really amazing. There is usually a wait to eat here but it's ok, Well worth the wait, and that's usually a good sign of a great restaurant. They have a couple different locations but I have only been to this one. I'm glad because I heard this one was their best! It's also in a good location. They have inch specials as well. Prices are really reasonable. I definitely recommend this place for someone looking to try a New Mexican/Spanish restaurant. You won't be disappointed. ENJOY!!

Busy place. Food is delicious and staff is quick. Facility could use some updates as last time we ate there the ceiling was dripping with water....but never had any issues with service or food!

  • Felicia R.

Friend recommended La Bamba, we went for lunch during the week. I didn't go traditional as I am trying to "eat healthier!" I ordered from the lunch menu, grilled chicken, I substituted the rice and beans for salad. Waiter thought i was insane being hispanic and turning away the rice and beans. Coworker ordered the taco salad which looked delish (but far from low calorie) Service was excellent and Waiter was very pleasant. I would like to return again and try their traditional dishes when i'm not on a diet!

Very good neighborhood Mexican food . Been coming here for the past 10 years. The pollo de plancha is always good and the chicken fajitas are not ever disappointing a family of four can eat here for under $60 including tax and tip

  • Megan B.

I love this place, the food is always great and the servers are always attentive. Love the hot salsa they bring to the table. Have had the fajitas many times, as well as the pollo a la plancha, and the enchiladas. They are all great as well as the house margaritas, they are a must have on tuesday when they are $2.50. The lunch specials are also great.

I have been coming to La Bamba for 18 years and will continue going for the rest of my life. Their food is delicious (big fan of the palomilla), I have never had any issues with anything. The chips and salsa are to die for. They are always very quick and efficient. Warning: the place does get extremely busy on weekends so be prepared to wait.

  • Theresa J.

Went here with a group of friends for Cinco De Mayo, gad an awesome experience, great live band, food and magarita. We hung out for over 2 hours and price is reasonable. Definitely the best Mexican restaurant I've been to in a long time

  • Forest W.

Its very hard for me to find good mexican food. Most of it is just warmed up tv dinners. But this place was really very good. The chips and salsa are a great way to start. Very fresh and crispy not stale and soggy like many places. I ordered the La Bamaba combo and the taco was amazing! The enchilada was very good. Service was prompt and she was very friendly. A must go if you like good mexican food!

  • Judith Z.

I love La Bamba !!! My favorite mexican restaurant . I have tried the enchiladas chunk beef and chicken they were delicious. The chunk beef burros and chimichanga is amazing. Their mexican pizza is awesome. I have recommended it to all my friend's. Best clam chowder soup I have ever had. I wished they had it every day. The staff is always friendly and fast.

Came here on a Sunday and was sat right away. Food was good. Michael was a really good server. He checked on us a lot and brought us stuff quickly. He was also very nice. I feel like I eat out a lot and haven't had good service in a while so I forgot what that's like. It was nice to have proper service.

    (4)
  • Michael H.

One of my top Mexican spots. It is right around the corner from where I grew up and still has amazing food and great service. My favorite menu item, Steak Burro, has been great for years. I always look forward to meeting family here for a quick dinner.

  • Lee Z.

This is really 3 1/2. Service was excellent. Food was decent considering it is more geared towards the American palate, not really authentic. Atmosphere is good.

  • Michael V.

Great place!! I have been searching for a good Mexican restaurant since I moved the S FL three years ago. California Mexican food is a lot different than the Mexican/Spanish restaurants down here. I was pleasantly surprised when the food arrives. I ordered the cancun combo; taco, enchilada, tostada, refried beans, and rice. The taco and enchilada were on point.. Less a fan of the tostada but still good. The restaurant is clean, presents well, and also has a large bar area. Definitely give it a try!!

Easily my favorite low-key Mexican spot. Awesome margarita's!

  • Pamela M.

We eat here all the time. The food is great and the service is incredible. Even though there is usually a wait, it goes by very fast. As soon as you are seated, they immediately bring chips and salsa. (Which are great) the Patron Margaritas are the best. Prices are very reasonable and the food is always great. Today we had the best waitress we have ever had! Her name is Maria. Highly recommend this place. Take out is great too.

  • Larry R.

We love this place--really good Mexican and Spanish style food served graciously. The ambiance is idealized Mexican and it works. Our favorite dishes are the fajitas, plentiful and delicious, served with tortillas and a side plate of lettuce, tomatoes, guacamole (DELICIOUS) and grated cheese. We get the meat and veggies burnt and love it that way. They have a $2.50 Margarita special early in the week so that's a real plus. All meals are served with addicting, delicious chips and salsa. Prices are reasonable and the experience is wonderful.

  • Steve R.

We came on a Thursday night based upon the recommendation of a friend. The salsa was very fresh and tasty but the chips tasted old and like lard. My wife ordered the chicken soup and I ordered an enchilada platter. Her soup was bland and my dish lacked flavor. Mine came with rice and beans that had good flavor. I'm not sure if I would return.

  • Clinesha J.

This is my first visit but will not be my last! I had take out which took me 15 minutes to get back to work and eat and everything was delicious. Not soggy, very flavorful just great. I can't wait to try many more other Mexican/Spanish restaurants to see if they can stand up to such great food.

    (5)
  • Jessica D.

They are amazing! Every thing that comes out of that kitchen is made perfect i don't what the cook is on or how he does it but it's amazing every time! My dad, that hates and I mean HATES every single restaurant we take him to and complains about the food price and service, fell in love with this place. He said this is the one place he'll come back. Coming from a Spanish house hold you can always tell good Spanish food from the rest and this, my friends, is great! I can't recommend it enough!

  • Natalie M.

I just went here yesterday (late review) and had some tacos. They were really good but i didnt get any beans!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!I was furious. The taco was out of this world though.I ordered water and it was the best water ever (syke).Well the customer service was I guess 4 and 1/2 stars. Well whatever this place was three stars!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Lisa B.

The service was excellent, but the food was just okay. I sat at the bar. The bartender was very attentive. I wasn't that hungry. I had the chicken soup and a beef taco. The very small bowl of soup was disappointing. The taco was okay. I would give the place another try if I wasn't leaving here tomorrow.

  • Carolyn G.

We LOVE this place! I crave their chips and salsa as I type this. I recommend the Chicken chimichanga for $12.95 or the Polo a la Plancha for $13.95. I always need a take home box since the portions are huge. For dessert, the fried ice cream is our favorite. A family friendly dining experience, they give out crayons with the children's menu to keep the little ones happy while waiting. As for the adults, there are several TV's located throughout the restaurant, so you'll never miss a big game. View their menu here: labamba123.multiscreensi…

Excellent I always eat here when I visit Ft Lauderdale. The food and service are great ! Crisp , warms nachos and spicy salsa a plus ! The La Bamba combo is a tremendous amount of food and good !

Love La Bamba! The salsa is the best and anything you order is delicious.

  • Salvatore J.

Yo... Straight up. I dare you to close your eyes and just randomly point at an item on the menu. It will be delicious. My girlfriend and I have always joked that there is a little Wizard in the back who sprinkles the food with magic; that is the ONLY WAY TO MAKE FOOD TASTE THAT GOOD. I'm convinced. It's magic. The service is attentive and friendly. The bartenders are good at what they do (you can sit at the bar, or be seated at tables in the restarant). Overall, I would highly recommend this restaurant - mainly for the quality and astounding flavor of the food, and for the fair prices they charge; it's totally worth it.

Was in again over the weekend. Even more delicious and service was excellent. Great place

    (5)
  • Jamie C.

I go here once every 2 weeks. The food is always spot on delicious! The service can be mediocre but the food makes up for it. They are always busy here and never had a problem with the quality of food served. I will continue coming here many more times.

Went the other night with my family including my 2 y.o. son. We were seated quickly and greeted with fresh chips and two types of fresh salsa. The spicy salsa had a pleasant kick for those spicy food lovers. Entrees were served quickly which was important due to my young child. Nice large portions big enough for lunch leftovers the next day. Food was very tasty with authentic Mexican flare. There was a line out the door by the time we left which speaks volumes about the quality of the food and atmosphere. A definite must try.

  • Eric P.

My family and I were pleasantly surprised by this restaurant. We were sat almost as soon as we walked into the restaurant. The staff was very friendly, but most of all, the food was beyond what we were expecting. We didn't have any problems at all and the food was cooked perfectly. I'd give it 5 stars if our server didn't disappear when we were ready to pay for the bill.

Love la bamba.. My girlfriend and I go almost every Friday! Great food and friendly staff. Usually very busy on weekends but they handle the crowds great and get you n and out with minimal wait. Great happy our specials as well Try the taco dinner and the nachos! The best

    (5)
  • Anthony B.

La Bamba is unique because it has great tex-mex type dishes (huge portions) but also has really good traditional spanish dishes, like Arroz Con Pollo. I really enjoyed the atmosphere, the cheap margaritas, and the delicious food. Seems to get quite crowded on the weekends, so be sure to come a bit early to put your name on the waiting list. As far as traditional mexican places go, La Bamba is one of the best in Broward.

    (5)
  • Anita C.

Bring it! Restaurant is in a strip mall but has good decor and ambience. Food is very good and we have enjoyed every item we have had here. Great complimentary chips and salsa. We had the fajitas which were very good.

    (4)
  • Thomas M.

Get the fajitas! We had both Chicken and Steak at the table. We also had the Chicken Enchiladas... Service was a little slow but the food was great!

    (5)
  • Zachary K.

Best Mexican restaurant in the plantation area. I've been coming here for the past 15+ years and it is still amazing every time. I must say however I order the same thing about 99% of the time: pollo a la plancha which comes with rice, beans, and plantains. If you go for lunch make sure to add sautéed onions. Great spot for lunch or dinner!

    (4)
  • Dennis F.

This place is our "go to" neighborhood place for Mexican food. Consistently good food, tasty margaritas and chips and salsa-a-plenty!! I love their fajitas, pork chunks, burritos, nachos and even their chicken wings are pretty good. Service can be great or slow, depending on who you get but it is worth the wait if you get a sloth!

    (4)
  • Natalia F.

I love this place!!!!!!! I am obsessed with their fajitas! Have never ordered anything else and I love their chips and salsa. Service isn't perfect but in my opinion the food makes up for it!

    (5)
  • Kimberly P.

Ok I'm a little obsessed. This is not traditional Mexican but it's the best Mexican type of food anywhere in south Florida. I've worked there when I was younger and I remember the kitchen being extremely clean! I love almost everything on the menu. Here's my favorites: - enchiladas (pollo y carne - order half and half) - burro verde - ropa viaja - pollo a la plancha - tampiqueña - Strawberry Margarita - mud pie - a bartender named Carlos Buen provecho!

    (5)
  • Karen A.

I'm from Texas so I haven't found very many Mexican food places that I love in Florida. La Bamba is by far the closest I can find that has some tex mex items. I love the chicken enchiladas and usually they are very good. For some reason tonight they were very dry and didn't seem as good as usual. I hope this was just a fluke! I will give them another try because they usually are very good. Also I've had the pollo a plancha and it is very good as well if you like Cuban good they have some good items as well.

    (3)
  • Brandi J.

Good food, good prices. Great margaritas! (We always get a pitcher) Sunny

  • Allison G.

Great Mexican food! The chicken enchiladas are great and the salsa is awesome!

    (5)
  • Tiffany S.

I love this restaurant! My family and I have been coming here for years. I recommend the enchilada and sirloin steak meal. The steak here is better than some steak restaurants. (I order the enchilada with chunk beef for, like, $3 extra and it is SOOO good.) The lunch portions/prices are good and the service seems to be even quicker than normal. This place has been booming, so expect a 30 minute wait for dinner on weekends. It's worth the wait.

    (5)
  • Davon H.

Great! Love the ambience it offers. Had the tortilla bowl and it was delicious! My friend had the sizzling chicken fajitas and it was great and well presented. I love fresh salsa and that sealed the deal for me.

  • Anyelina L.

I have to re-edit my review because I went back and try another dish and it was much better. The first time I went to this place, the chicken was over seasoned and couldn't eat it. But the second time, the waitress suggest me to get the taco chicken salad, which is a different chicken they use (is not pre-marinated like the other dishes) and it was delicious. I love their nachos, their salsas, and their lunch specials are great portions, good prices and good service. This place is just 5 minutes away from my home and for sure will come back! I definitely recommend this place.

    (4)
  • David S.

These people are fast on the draw with your take-out order. It must have been five minutes total from the moment I walked in the door, ordered, and put my face into my phone to the moment when I looked up, took the hand-off, and left. The food is standard Mexican fare. Pretty good.

  • Mark P.

Fajita very good!!! margaritas also very good our server Bryan gave great service !!!

  • Jessica T.

Hubby and I love mexican food so we took a drive down the boulevard to see what we could find one night and happened upon this restaurant. The full parking lot spoke volumes. We were seated right away and saw the menu was mexican and spanish food - what a tough choice! We both enjoyed a great margarita and their chips and salsa and appreciated that they brought out both mild and spicy salsa - the spicy was the best. He ordered the ground beef chimichanga and I ordered the cheese enchaladas. Both were amazing. The rice was awesome - fresh, hot and flavored great - some of the best spanish rice I've had at a mexican restaurant. Had a taste of his chimichanga - was amazingly crunchy and flavorful. And not to mention they did not scrimp on cheese covering both entrees which made it extra yummy. We also ordered the steak fajitas to share - some of the best fajitas we've ever had! The meat strips were huge and tons of fresh veggies - was a huge portion of food. We were eyeballing the desserts on the next table as the fried ice cream looked devine but we were super stuffed. All in all, excellent mexican food and we will definitely be back the next time we are in town!

  • John R.

Overall our experience was not bad, but there was nothing that amazed us; particularly from a service aspect. I had the carnitas, delish! Jasmine had the Wild Grand tostado, also good. Our server never introduced himself so I don't have his name (just checked the receipt, Ronny and we were at table 23). Our drinks were never refilled and when he brought a bag for the takeout boxes he just laid it on top and walked away quickly without a word. Absolutely zero engagement from him that made us feel welcome. Would have rated lower but the food was pretty decent. I can't say we will rush back here, and we won't exactly send people here either.

  • Leydis P.

Best restaurant in the area , love it , the food is terrific and the staff is very friendly and they have the best margaritas in town

    (5)
  • Tiffany P.

The food here is not bad but Azteca which is about 10 min away is much better. Most of the entrees come plain and if you want any toppings like sour cream or pico you get charged extra. Its a bit of a turn off when you're used to getting something like a quesadilla with toppings. Save your money for Azteca where the food is extremely fresh and your food comes fully loaded at NO EXTRA CHARGE.

This is the best Mexican restaurant in Florida. Recommendations: Chips & hot salsa; Burro Dinner (ground beef); Enchilada dinner (chicken); Costillas de Puerco; Palomilla The portions are generous. The prices are very reasonable. The food is mouth-watering. My family and I have been coming here since they opened and they've never wavered from excellence. Whether it's take-out or dine-in, everything always goes smoothly. (Note: be cautious of the other La Bamba locations. They're NOT as good as this one.)

I am a FL native, but I've lived in Texas for the past 8 years & recently moved back to FL. My boyfriend swears by this place & loves it, so he took me here of course. I am a big-time margarita girl & this margarita was just okay. Not too bad, but nothing impressive. Chips & salsa were decent, again not the best I've had but not terrible. I ordered the steak fajitas & my boyfriend had the sourcream enchiladas. The fajita meat was good, but tasted more like stew meat & not like authentic "fajita" type meat. My boyfriend enjoyed his enchiladas, & they looked good. Needless to say, I know REAL Mexican food from living in Texas...& nothing "Mexican" I've tried in FL has even compared. Good food, but not what I would consider "Mexican" food. & considering there aren't many Mexicans roaming around South FL, I'm not surprised. Just because a restaurant throws chips & salsa on a table doesn't qualify for true Mexican food. Also, the place seemed a little dirty/dusty & the service wasn't anything to write home about. Slow service & the waiter never refilled our drinks until we tracked him down.... To recap, food isn't bad, just not really Mexican food...& I'm not a fan of false advertising. & if by any chance you're ever in Texas, try Pappasitos Cantina & you will understand why this isn't real Mexican food.

There's not much to say here except, "This Mexican restaurant has the BEST tasting food in all of South Florida." It doesn't get any better than this for taste. It's mouthwateringly delicious. The fajitas are the best I've had in my entire life and I used to work at Casa Gallardo in Daytona Beach in 1987, and I thought those were the best. But La Bamba, this location specifically, has the most incredibly delicious food I've ever eaten. The chips and salsa, we go there and buy them by the bag to bring home. No more store bought chips and salsa for the last decade. The plantains always cooked to perfection. The guacamole always fresh. Pollo La Plancha beyond delicious. Palomillo steak delicious. The Fajitas I need to mention again because they obviously have the secret recipe. If you like Fajitas you will love these forever. Service is always good and the line on the weekends is always out the door. La Bamba is the best Mexican you can find.

  • Chloe T.

This was my second time going to La Bamba 's and found it to be even better than the first time I went. The salsa is great and tasted very fresh. I liked mixing the spicy and the mild it was a good combination. I dont eat a lot of meat and my mom is vegan, so we shared the veggie fajitas.I asked them if they would put the cheese in a bowl so my mom could use the "fixings" they were very accomidating and the fajitas were great. I had a very good experience and would reccomend this.

  • John L.

South Florida needs a real Mexican restaurant. Unfortunately, this is not it. Food was marginally tasty, meats not at all cooked well, freshness is a question, cheese is way over used and, in general, seems to be "assembly line" prepared, with no love blended in. And it shows. Just had a terribly boring fajita. Too corporate, too borng, too bland. Not terrible but not fun at all, and food has to be fun. Much much better options for my dinero. And taste.

  • Sandra R.

When I first moved to South Florida, I was praying I'd find a Mexican restaurant similar to my favorite one back home...and I did. In fact, my mom requests we go here every time she visits. When you sit down, chips and salsa are plentiful, but I highly recommend a side of guacamole. It is absolutely fantastic. I've had enchiladas and chimichangas. They were great. But I hear the fajitas are to die for!

Oh dear. No, just no. First of all, La Bamba shares the plaza with many other business including Bonefish. Parking was awful. We drove around for ten minutes just looking for a space. I thought we were going to see a throwdown when a woman was holding a parking space by standing there and another car wanted to pull in. The woman finally moved, but wow. The place was pretty crowded which I figured was a good sign. Nope. The two stars I gave are for the chips, the spicy salsa, and the $2.25 domestic drafts. The chips were homemade, fresh, and still warm. The spicy salsa had a nice habanero kick that you don't often have at a restaurant. The mild salsa was just ok. We missed 2-4-1 happy hour, but $2.25 is a great price for a domestic draft. The poor waiter. He tried to be attentive, and ran around like crazy, but he just had too much on his plate. (No pun intended) Our drinks went unfilled and it took awhile to get a second beer. I could tell there just were not enough servers for the amount of people in the restaurant. The food? Not so much. I had chicken tacos. The shell tasted old and by the time it got to me it was soggy. The chicken was of the shredded variety in a red sauce, and it tasted off. I didn't get the beans, so they doubled up the rice. The rice was terribly bland. Definitely one of the lower quality portions of rice I have had at any Mexican place. My husband had the carnitas. He said the meat was just okay. He did very much enjoy the guacamole, though. My son had the chicken fingers and fries, and again, just okay. He has sampled chicken fingers from Texas to Florida to Massachusetts, and these were not his favorite. I will admit that I saw the chicken fajitas on another table, and they looked and smelled great. Maybe I should have had them? Maybe I am spoiled after years in Texas where we had a little Taquería on every corner that had good quality, great tasting, cheap Mexican food. I don't know. But I won't be returning to La Bamba anytime soon, that's for sure.

I'm travel alot for work and went by this place several times on a business trip. I ordered A Fajita Supreme (steak, chicken, and shrimp) for take out for dinner. The was no parking so I had to park behind the builging to pick up my order. I took it back to my hotel and what a surprise!!! For $19, I did not get rice or beans, chips or salsa, or even a spoon/fork/napkin packet. Seasoning/taste. This is texmex and should have flavor. It was extremely bland. The topper..... 2 SHRIMP in the whole mix... Are you kidding me? Forest Gump did better on his first trip out. $19 wasted!

Food was great, enjoyed my Chimichanga with the shredded beef. The guacamole was very good as well. I would have given 5 stars except the service was poor. Very rushed in wanting to take your order so they could turn the table over. Food came out real quick amd once food was delivered you were forgotten about. We had to ask for more chips 4 times before we got some. All in all good food but service could be better.

By far one of my favorite restaurants to eat at when im home. I now live in California but every time i am in Ft Lauderdale this is the first on my list of places to eat. I have only tried the spanish dishes on the menu. I am a creature of habit because I order the same thing 90% of the time: Polo a la Plancha. This dish is grilled chicken with grilled onions over top served with white rice, black beans, and plantains. The chicken is always so tender and juicy and seasoned to perfection. They must put something in that rice to make it so flavorful too. Its like crack rice! I have also tried the Picadillo which is probably the best I have ever had. They serve warm tortilla chips and homemade salsa as a starter with all meals! Its crazy how they can specialize in two different cuisines (spanish and mexican) and be so good at both!

La Bamba is always consistently good with fast and friendly service. Nothing on the menu that will blow your mind, but everything (with the exception of the Mexican Pizza) tastes great! The salsa is always fresh and the chips are hot. Portions are huge, so you never feel like you are being cheated with the prices. We probably put La Bamba in our rotation every three months or so when we feel like a delicious pig out.

La Bamba has been around for a very long time. I've eaten here several times over the years and it is always very good. I'm of cuban decent and like to visit la bamba for some cuban food just like my grandma used to make. The rice and beans, grilled chicken with plantains, picadillo always taste like the real deal. The service no matter how busy they seem is always pretty quick as well. They have awesome margaritas and mexican food as well. I love their fajitas, nice portions on everything and never a complaint. I've never understood the concept of cuban/mexican restaurants as they are very different cuisines but I will say I enjoy La bamba for just that! Sometimes I am just not sure what I want and coming here I may decide to have great mexican food, cuban food or a little of both. It's also a great place for large parties and celebrations. I always see large groups celebrating a birthday or some other occasion and they are having the best time. I highly recommend La Bamba if you've not been before. It's awesome.

Giving this restaurant anything less than SIX STARS is an embarrassment. Their chips are perfect, their salsa is epic and their fajitas (chicken, steak, or shrimp) are mind blowing. I used to live 10 minutes away and l live in San Diego and everytime i come home nothing compares to Lalalalalala La Bambas.

So good! I've been looking for a good Mexican restaurant in South Florida that reminds me of places that I used to go to during family reunions in Texas. Finally, I found La Bamba! I worked near La Bamba for a few months, and I would go on my lunch break. The specials are really good. $7.50 for 2 chicken enchiladas with a side of rice & beans, soup or soft drink, and chips & salsa for the table. I never got anything but the enchiladas because they were so good, but some of my friends tried other things on the menu and everything is amazing. The salsa is yummy, and the chips are always hot. They're pretty generous with the alcohol in their drinks too. It was $5 for a HUGE strawberry margarita. Service is always really fast, and they're very accommodating with groups. I wish they had more sample platters or the ability to order a smaller portion because I always eat way too much when I go. If you like Mexican food, go to La Bamba!

We get takeout from this La Bamba location about once a week. The Pollo a la Plancha dish is our favorite and the mild salsa... yum!! If you eat in, the fajitas are great too. The service is almost always super fast and the food is always fresh and tasty.

I've lived in Plantation for 16 years and this has been one of my favorite restaurants. After last night, I will not be going back. Reason: I asked that my fajita veggies be cooked well done but the steak medium rare. I have been ordering it this way for 16 years. The answer from the waitress was "we don't do that anymore, but I will ask the manager". Upon her return, she said she was sorry, but they would not do it. I ordered something else. After the food came, I spoke to the Manager, who is also one of the owners. He was very arrogant when I asked what the reasoning was. Had he made a legitimate explanation, that would have been fine. But his answer was "we don't do it that way any more". I said "so you are telling me that I cannot have the food prepared the way I like it?", he said "that's correct". I would like to say I am surprised, but nothing surprises my anymore. One of my favorite local restaurants is now off my list of places to eat., after eating there twice a month for 16 years. I hope their business is good enough to maintain this level of poor customer service.

We frequent La Bamba and it's one of my favorite restaurants in Plantation. This is a very casual place but the food is always fast and fresh. We go for the early bird menu at least once a week. They have very nice early bird menu with about five good choices. We go early because I have my two kids in tow and they can't wait to be seated or fed. Tonight I had the baby palomilla, thin beef steak with rice, plantains, black beans. The early bird also comes with a soda and their soup is the best anywhere. The early bird is from 4:00-6:00 pm and the most dishes around $10.00 for plenty of food. We can normally feed a family of four for under $30.00. A limited children's menu is available but we often get three entrees and split everything four ways. I don't rate it five stars because it isn't the Ritz but it's a great local eatery. Service is always fast and friendly. Thumbs up for this restaurant!

Best Mexican food in South Florida, hands down. And a trusty favorite. I've never had a bad experience here and I've easily been there 50+ times. The chips are always warm, perfectly salted and crisp, and the salsa is a perfect mix of ingredients... and not that nasty tomato sauce that everyone else tries to pass of as salsa. Everything on the menu is delicious, well prepared and served fast and with a smile. If you need real Mexican food, or just a great Margarita... this is it.

We have been going here for years. A family restaurant with good food , good portions at a good price. The quality and service may have changed slightly, but we have never had a problem with our food or have sent anything back. Their menu has some Spanish dishes in case you need a change from the Mexican.

We walked in and were told it was a 10-15 min wait and we were seated in about 3 minutes. Mind you it was 9pm on a Friday night. Our waiter was friendly and prompt and kept my margarita flowing. Which of course kept me happy. My BF, who is picky as all hell, had a burrito and a taco. He said the taco was uninspired, but he did order it as bland as bland could be, but his burrito was amazing. I ordered the La Bamba Combo and it was very tasty, despite the fact that my Chile Relleno was a bit bland. We ended the night with some Flan and it was quite yummy. I recommend the strawberry margarita if you come in here, and I do recommend you stop in if your feeling a little Mexican, OLE!!

Food: 4 (salsa 5) Atmosphere: 3 Service: 3 Classic Mexican restaurant and cuisine. Food was good and exactly as it should be. The chips and salsa were the best part. We went on a super busy night and got really slow lazy service. Fun family atmosphere. Good food. Mexicans would be proud :)

A bit of a guilty pleasure. It's Americanized Mexican food - tons of cheese, you may or may not get sick afterwards and the interior is tacky awful. Their booths are easily the most uncomfortable booth seating I've ever experienced, WOW. Drink specials are decent. The food does taste ok if you want a Mexican fix, but there is truly nothing special about the place. Average/low quality Mexican food, moderate pricing, end of story. The service is usually pretty good though, that's one plus. And this is practically the only Mexican place in the area.

Came here tonight with my girlfriend. The welcoming we received was to have one of the servers spill salsa all over my girlfriend; he apologized multiple times, but didn't even offer a soda on the house. We ordered the chicken enchiladas with mole sauce. The order came super quick and the mole sauce was much better than Azteca's. All in all it was decent with a lot of chicken. So far, the best mole poblano I've had in SoFla was Paquito's in Aventura. For dessert we ordered the "fried" ice cream. The description on the menu mentions that it is covered in a dough, fried and then rolled in corn flakes. I guess they forgot the dough and frying part and skipped to just rolling a scoop of ice cream in corn flakes. This is the third Mexican restaurant (Azteca and Ole Ole) we've been to that the menu has an elaborate explanation of how their ice cream is fried or deep fried, but ends up just being a scoop of ice cream rolled in corn flakes and caramel sauce. I don't know if these places had fried ice cream at one point and then switched to this cheaper alternative, but these places need to change their menus because it is blatant false advertisement.

Just thinking about this restaurant makes my taste buds tingle. This is such a great Mexican restaurant! All of their portions are a good size and the al a carte menu is perfect if you don't like to eat so much but still want to fill your belly. The chicken burrito is excellente, but my girlfriend didn't like the shrimp tacos. Unfortunately i cannot vouch for this because I am allergic to shrimp... lucky me right?! :( overall, ive stuck with the burritos and such and i don't have one complaint. P.S. if you are lactose intolerant watch out for the cheese overload on your plate! Sooo good but a no no for all of us anti dairy (not by choice) people lol

One time for La Bamba. My wife and I have passed by it a lot of times put it is so obscure from the road that you might miss it. Thankfully one night we went there and gave it a shot. We went on a Friday night and it was packed but, surprisingly, we were seated less then 15 minutes later. Our waiter was real friendly and told of of their specials and what he would recommend. We placed our order and nibbled on some fresh tortilla chips. The food came out a little while later and all I can say is WOW! Talk about a huge portion! We weren't ready for that, so much so that we literally ended up taking most of my wife's food to go. La Bamba has a great, lively atmosphere that you rarely see - they have a full bar and a decent line up of beers on tap. The employees there are real attentive and, from what I noticed, always ready to complete your request. I would definitely go back to La Bamba and try out more of their dishes. If you're in the Sunrise - Plantation neighborhood or heading out from Sawgrass and want to try some very good Mexican/Spanish food, than this is it. Really good.

Good Mexican dishes...enough to take home for leftovers!! This restaurant was a good experience to dine over the weekend. The waiters were very attendant and polite and the food delivery to your table was prompt! The intro chips with sauce was ok, not awesome though. They do not offer a kids menu just in case your wondering. The plates were huge!!! like if your hungry, buckle up because your going to eat!!! I had the Trio Fajita with Chicken, Steak and Shrimp. Good stuff! The price is decent: Dinner for two average less than $25

I was kind of disappointed after lunch today, due to the fact that I became way too hype from reading the rave reviews. It was ok, not great. (I've definitely had better Mexican) I ordered the "La Bamba combination" which came with a chicken enchilada, a chile relleno, beef taco, refried beans and yellow rice. The chile relleno was very soggy, the batter was thick and chewy (bleh!) the chicken enchilada was very bland, and so was my beef taco!!! They try to mask it by smothering everything with melted cheese...what can I say?everything DOES taste better covered in cheese......... My boyfriend's dish however was the complete opposite from mine. It was really good. He opted for the carne asada.....it came with guacamole, sour cream, yellow rice and re-fried beans...the steak was cooked perfectly...crisp edges...tender on the inside...yumm. I'm gonna come back though. I'd like to try other menu items and give it another chance.

If you haven't checked this place out yet, you are missing out on some delicious Mexican fare ! Everything here I have tried has been good and just writing this is making my mouth water. All the dishes are HUGE and super quality. And my favorite thing La Bamba is the chips and salsa, it can be addicting. For the margarita fans, they are big and go great with any meal you happen to choose. Finally we get to the service, it is attentive and always friendly. Everything I come here I have to wait so be prepared. You MUST try!

This place is a reliable stop for both "traditional" Mexican (and by that I mean Mexican restaurant traditional) and some Spanish options. I usually opt for the Spanish dishes. The Ropa Vieja is Cuban style with black beans, rice, and plantains. The enchiladas are also pretty decent, but I would stick with the red sauce. I'm usually an enchiladas verdes fan, but the green sauce here just isn't that great. I've also tried some of the combos in the past and they are really hit or miss. But, the things that they do really well are worth the visit!

While in town for work, this restaurant came highly recommended by several people for good, fast Mexican food. Should I ever be back in the area, I will not be visiting this restaurant and I would not recommend anyone ever going there. I only gave them one star because I had to rate them something. Why? Read on. First of all, for the amount of food you get, it is very overpriced. A SMALL side dish of guacamole is $7.....other restaurants you can get a huge bowl of fresh guacamole prepared table-side for the same amount of money. But the primary reason for my distaste of this establishment, is the complete lack of customer service by their wait staff and management. After finishing our dinner, my party was sipping up the last of our margarita's and waiting for the waiter to bring back our credit card when we noticed something moving on our table. It was a small worm, partially concealed in some type of bark, inching its way across the Table. We immediately showed our waiter, who picked it up, looked at it and said it was nothing. Of course, the worm is going to retreated into it's "shell" when it was picked up. So we asked to speak to the Manager. When the Manager came over, we pointed to the worm, which we had now placed on a napkin. He picked up the worm in it's "shell", looked at it, and walked away from the table for a couple minutes. When he came back, he told us that it was just a piece of cardboard, which it did look like. As the three us of attempted to explain to him that a worm was concealed in the "cardboard" and was crawling across our Table, he only laughed and told us we were crazy. He insisted it was the wind from the fans (not anywhere near our table) that was blowing the "cardboard" around. I even suggested he break open the " cardboard" to see the worm inside, but again his response was laughter and that we were crazy. If you want to overpriced worm infested Mexican food, this is the place for you. As for me, next time I'm in town, I'll be at Azteca.

To be completely honest this is one of my FAVORITE restaurants!!!! The complementary chips and salsa are the BEST I have ever had! The fajita's are big enough to share with someone and are extremely flavorful. Every time I hear "We're going to La Bamba tonight!" I prepare my mouth for a Mexican orgasm!

For some reason or the other this place has some hype serving as the local Tex-Mex family friendly restaurant in the Plantation area. Is the hype warranted? If going by food alone, no it's not. But, if you throw into the mix their unlimited $2.50 margaritas, the place is sooo totally worth it!!! Margaritas aside, let's talk about the food. I find the food to be rather bland, but who can blame them? They need to ensure that their patrons' tastes are met. The service is definitely attentive not having to excessively wait for your drinks and food. I recommend the chimichanga!

My girl and I come here often and it's as good as it gets for Mexican that we've found in Broward. They immediately welcome you with fresh chips and 3 kinds salsa (mild, medium, hot.) It's the only place that actually cooks fajitas to order and so you know, they add some soy sauce to their fajita meat and cooked vegetables. Quesadillas are delicious and filled with meat. Super fast service no matter how busy they are and great drinks. The only reason I wouldn't give them 5 stars is because one time we found a sweet and low packet in the salsa cup, nasty but we looked past it since mistakes do happen and we love Mexican and they have been perfect besides that. Give em a try but be prepared to wait if it's a weekend, especially in Fort Lauderdale!

When here on Mothers Day for early lunch. Been here a few times for lunch during the week and service is ok. Howeve,r on Sunday our waiter seemed to forget everything we asked for. He brought 3 soups and two waters for four people who ordered soup and three that ordered water. He just never brough the third water. Then we asked for coffee refills which came 10 minutes later in the form of decaf with no cream. By the time we got the cream (we asked someone else) the coffee was cold. I asked for napkins, never got them. I don't think I will be going back to La Bambas. They shoud really train staff to ensure proper customer service. Food was ok as usual..what they lack in flavor of food they should try to make up in better service. Go to Ole Ole instead...salsa and chips are better anyway.

So I used to love this place. Good mexican comfort food and reasonable prices. So while my hubby and I were in the area we decided to go check it out for old times sake. While the salsa WAS as good as I remember, everything else just fell flat. My margarita was just mediocre and the food was so covered in cheese and oil that I couldn't taste it. I had the enchilada and taco combo and my hubby had the cancun combination. The portions were big, which my latin appetite certainly appreciates, but I couldn't even eat half of what I had. My stomach was turning from all of the oil. My hubby described his meal as "soupy" because there was so much oil on his plate. ...and don't get me wrong, I LOVE cheese...I mean REALLY love it...but this was just overkill. i don't think we will ever go back. Another one bites the dust.....

Your better off wearing a pair of pants with an elastic waistband because this is the type of place you'll want to unbutton and make some room by the time your done. Great food that comes in big portions and a large selection of margarita styles that come by the pitcher capable of taking down an elephant down. After your done, all you'll think about is how it's time for a siesta.

I've been here 3 times now and love it. They have great margarita specials on Monday and Tuesday. Plus the food is very good. I've had the arroz con pollo and the baby palomilla both were outstanding. I will be making this a weekly stop for drinks and dinner for sure.

I'm upset that there aren't better mexican options in broward. This place is your typical tex-mex, chips and salsa, fajitas, combo plates and rice and beans.... blah, blah, blah. I've been to Mexico, and can assure you there is not much that is authentic about this place. If you want some good, authentic Mexican street style tacos, head over to Alegria Tacos.

La Bamba is consistently good food. Always fast service - food usually arrives before the complimentary chips & salsa are gone. Good choices between Mexican & Cuban faire - always.something for everyone. My faves are fajitas or ropa vieja. Surprisingly amazing chicken soup & yummy fried ice cream for dessert!

We eat here at least once a week! It's all about the food at La Bamba and the food is simply good Mexican food. The Pollo a la Plancha is unreal - those juicy marinated chicken breasts are seasoned perfectly with...must be laced with crack or something because I keep coming back but it's unlike any other chicken I've had. My other favorite is the Carne Asada. Huge plate of food, the steak is always cooked perfect or close. The plantains are a standout here too, there is something about the way the tips are perfectly burnt and they manage to get the plantains nice and sweet. I could rave on and on about a lot of small things like their white rice, perfect hot salsa, etc. The servers are always friendly, you're recognized if you're a regular, there is often a wait time on Friday or Saturday nights but never more than 20 mins. At these times, parking can be a pain because of the Bonefish Grill that recently opened nearby. La Bamba won't break your budget and it's a place you go to get consistently good authentic Mexican food; HIGHLY RECOMMEND.

Usually I love this restaurant, but today's service or lack thereof was deplorable. We asked for lemons for our water. Sure the waiter said, never to bring them. That was how the evening went. We asked for something, never got it. The icing on the cake was when he brought our bills before we even finished eating. He never asked if we wanted coffee or dessert.. When I complained to the manager he apologized, eventually the waiter came over to take the orders. Never asked if we wanted refills manager never comped coffee. Not a happy camper, not going back for quite awhile. Very disappointed.

Seriously the best fajitas in town for 10 plus years strong. I live pretty close so I always smell the plantains cookin'. A great resturant that's family owned and operated. I also love to take out from them and eat at home over a good movie.

The BEST Mexican restaurant ever. I've been coming here for so many years, more than 10 years. It's a family gathering, a family tradition, we come in here for special occasions, birthday, whenever. The staff are great and they've been working there for many years too. That tell you how great the management is! The food it's exquisite, delicious, the best of the best. my favorites: Chicken Chimichanga, Steak Burro, Loco Burro, Fajitas! They also bring you chips with salsa and chips are hot (temp.) I haven't seen this in other places. Almost forgot, try the Margaritas!!!! THE BEST MEXICAN RESTAURANT!!!!!!!!

    (5)
  • Ryan L.

The hot salsa here is amazing and so are the margaritas. The veggie fajitas are really good, but anything that's cheese based ie enchilladas could be much better. The cheese is almost too melty; it's like liquid, no real substance to it. My other main complaint is a lack of fish tacos. . . I didn't see any on the menu, but never asked, so maybe you can get some if you say the secret password.

The food is so good here. The only place I go for my Mexican fix. My favorite is the Burro dinner with chunks of beef. I never tried it with ground beef or chicken and the steak fajitas. Their burgers are actually pretty good as well even though it is not their specialty.

Great place! Great service, tasty food, big portions and good prices. I loved the veggie fajitas and fresh avocado salad. The enchiladas and tacos are amazing too, they use an amazing white sauce on their chicken my husband and I both love. Haven't found anything better for mexican food in the Miami/Broward area. The only thing I think they could improve are the refied beans--they're pretty runny and salty.

As Mexican restaurants go in this area this one is the best I've found. Endless supply of chips and salsa is a definate plus. Food has good flavor and I've had a variety of items off the menu. My favorite being the enchiladas verde or the Verde Burro. Parking is a breeze and there is a good wait on Friday and Sat nights. Servers are attentive and pretty friendly. We go there quite often and have tried many many other mex places in S. Florida. You will not be disappointed.

I have been here at least twenty times. Great place to bring the family. Lots of large tables. Not really authentic Mexican but well priced

The chips and salsa were good. The steak was excellent. Wait staff was very attentive (though he did put water in my father's cup with Sprite in it.).

Love this place!! Lived in Plantation for 8 years, and came here often. Inexpensive, great wait staff, and best of all top notch food!! Masas de puerco, burritos, carnitas, fish tacos, guacamole, plantains. The parking lot is rarely empty, but don't despair you'll never wait long, the hosts are very efficient. I live in the Northeast now, but when I go to visit friends and family in South Florida, a stop at La Bamba is a must.

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
