I was very excited to try this place out. The entire experience...walking in and observing the cool pictures on the wall, the vintage table art, the welcoming layout of the restaurant, the easy to read menu above the register, the friendly customer service when ordering, the patience of the manager when I realized I can purchase a Yelp deal right then and there, to paying for our meal, receiving our buzzer to alert us when our food was ready, to choosing a cool table....all was great, until...I took my first bite of my burger. Now I don't want to mislead anyone into thinking the burger was bad. It was not bad. In my opinion, it was just ok. The presentation was good. The Triple D looked delicious on the silver tray that it is served on. However, the burger lacked flavor. The bun looked good also, but once I bit into it, it did not taste soft and fresh. Lastly, I expected the fried egg to be more runny (i.e. over easy or over medium). The yolk was overcooked and didn't run at all. Maybe that is the intent and the way it's suppose to be prepared, but my expectations were for something different, so for that I was somewhat disappointed. I've said in my other reviews, it's not just about the food, but about the entire dining experience. In this particular case, the customer service, the ambiance, the setting was all great! However, once again, in my opinion, the taste of the food was not 'great.' Although my kids only got the sliders, they were not too excited about the flavor of their burgers either. They did like the sweet potato and regular fries (as did I), but our proverbial "two thumbs up" stopped there. I will try this place again eventually because I really do not like trying places just once and giving up on them, unless the experience is beyond horrible. And this place is no where near horrible....just "ehhhh....ok" in my book for now. When that next time comes, I'll update my review with that experience.

Came with the family for a great night out had difficulties with a coupon that I had with restaurant.com but we all figured it out. My wife had the Wellington burger which she couldn't finish( she wasn't expecting it to be that big and good) I had the Burger spiced up with bacon cooked perfect. Definitely worth the money. Onion rings are unbelievable. Great place for a date or a family night out to dinner.

I would have given 3 stars but my bf was adamant that it didn't deserve more than 2. We probably wouldn't have come here had it not been for the groupon. We both agreed that we should have gone to BurgerFI. I got the sliders which are two sad patties on two little buns with a tiny piece of cheese. I loaded them up with ketchup, mustard and mayo then threw on a onion ring and they were ok from that point forward. The fries were ok, nothing special. I really enjoyed the onion rings. Bf could not finish his burger which says a lot. The egg was "well done" so if you like yours runny like he does, make sure to ask for sunny side up or over easy. The mushroom mixture topping was weird. Overall for the price this place is not worth it. Sad because the decor and concept are cool.

I really hate giving a new business in my area two stars but this new burger place really did not work for me and most of my family. Had I read some of my Yelp friends' reviews (particularly Sue B!) perhaps I might have ordered differently and my experience would have been better. However, the experience was not good and with so many gourmet burger places in the area, I doubt we will be giving BGR another shot. I had the Veggie Burger and it was terrible. It was large but had a very dry and crumbly consistency. What I liked least about it though, was the sweet taste. Made of black beans and brown rice, I am not sure where the sweetness came from but I really did not care for the taste. The Veggie Burger (as well as the regular burgers) are $6.99. For this price you can also add lettuce, tomato, or pickles. Cheese? Extra! Of course any other topping is extra as well and those extra toppings can add up. I added cheese, a fried egg, and the mushroom topping (carmelized onions, roasted mushrooms, and black truffles), which tasted was delicious. Actually, I am really glad I got all the toppings because they help mask the taste of the Veggie Burger. Husband and 9 year old had regular burgers with cheese, grilled onions, and bacon. I tasted the burger and was not impressed. It was just very "blah" with no seasoning or flavor. 9 year old said the bacon was chewy. 11 year old did enjoy the chicken sandwich. Just a plain chicken breast on a bun, it was tender and flavorful. The sweet potato fries were not very sweet at all. With no marshmallow dipping sauce, they were particularly bland. The regular fries were slightly seasoned and hot, but really too big for my taste. The service was adequate but nothing special. In this casual fast food burger restaurant you place your order at the counter and then get a beeper so you know when it is time to pick up your food. This is in contrast to competitors like Burger 21 and Knucklehead that bring your food to you when it is ready. I do not mind getting up to get my food at BGR. However, I have to say that especially for a new establishment, the the servers and manager did not go out of their way to be friendly or make us feel welcome. The place was not busy (we were the only ones there) and no one came to ask if everything was okay. Am I asking too much for a "fast casual" restaurant? Maybe, but BGR take note: the staff at and management at Burger 21 and Knucklehead are going around to tables checking on customers. I think the tip of the iceberg at BGR was the prices. The total for our family of four was at least $10 more than comparable meals at other burger places in the area. Although the lamb burger and ahi tuna burger do sound intruiging, I don't know how soon we will be returning.

Thanks to installing the Groupon app on my phone I have purchased a few too many lately, and one was for BGR. The deal was two $10 Groupons for $12, and since the app alerted me that they were doing 20% off that day, it was basically half price. The good thing was the fine print allowed the use of both $10 certificates in one visit. We arrived on a Friday night and the place was relatively empty. After looking over the menu I decided to order the tuna burger since Joan L. mentioned her distaste for the veggie burger. As I gave the cashier my order she informed me "it doesn't come with a side or a drink, sorry". I was aware of this and proceeded to add them to my meal, but her immediate response to it make me think that a lot of their patrons have a problem with this. My boyfriend ordered the burger of the month, some sort of buffalo, bacon, blue cheese situation. The cashier was familiar with the Groupon so ringing that up wasn't a problem at all. We were given a buzzer and took a seat in front of the open kitchen. Our food was ready within 5-10 minutes. Here's where things start to go downhill. We received our orders and they were incredibly hot, but cooked to order is a good thing, we just had to wait about ten minutes before we could start eating. The one exception was the fries, they were a little cold actually so we had those to pick at while we waited for the other things to cool down. The tuna burger was ok. It is sushi grade ahi tuna, and they ask how you like it cooked and I went with a medium rare. The tuna was cooked perfectly. The burger came with pineapple rings (clearly canned), teriyaki sauce, and pickled ginger. With all these bold topping you would think there would be a lot of flavor, but I found it to be quite bland. I also take issue with putting pickled ginger on things. Isn't it supposed to be a palette cleaner between pieces of sushi? Why are we using it as a topping? I had actually meant to switch it out for pickle chips but forgot to mention it at the register. I didn't try my boyfriends burger, but judging by the amount of mayo and ketchup he added to it, I don't think it had much flavor either. The absolute worst part of the meal was the onion rings I had chosen as a side. The portion was great, and they were fresh and hot; however, the fryer was obviously at the wrong temperature as they had so much grease in them I had to wring it out before trying it...I ate one. By the way the side of onion rings was $5...so $5 for an inedible side dish since nothing here comes with a side. After the sub par food and the awful onion rings, I was still considering three stars. I thought to myself that I would still come back and get the tuna burger again if someone asked me to, but then the service pushed me over the edge. A man went over to the soda station to grab a fork and found that there were none. At this point one of the workers informed him that sorry, they were out of forks. HOW DOES A RESTAURANT RUN OUT OF FORKS?! And what is this guy now supposed to do? There is a Publix in the same plaza, someone needs to run over and get some forks, but that didn't happen while I was there, the restaurant remained forkless. Ok, so now on to pricing. I had the Groupons so all said and done out of pocket we paid about ~$25 for the meal; however, had I not had a Groupon here's how it would have gone: tuna burger, ~$13, no sides or drink, add onion rings ~$5, add drink ~$2. I have now spent $20 on a sandwich for dinner at a place that doesn't even serve alcohol, and a quarter of that $20 was inedible onion rings. My boyfriend's burger was a few dollars cheaper, but basically same story there, so $40 for two burger that aren't even served to you, you pick up at the kitchen. I just wasn't impressed, and I won't be back. There are some great burger places nearby. BGR won't last long if things don't improve significantly.

2.5 to 3 stars Wow I really wanted to like this place but here goes. Let me start with the good. I like the decor of the place colorful artsy and hip. It's a small place which is not a bad thing but be warned it can get crowded pretty fast. When you walk in the place the set up sort of remind you of a smaller version of five guys. Even with the way you walk up to the counter order your food and wait for your number to be called. For me personally that work for five guys but not for a burger place that has Al a carte burgers almost 10 with premium topping. For me I think ordering and give me a number and bring my food to my table would be much better for feel for someone paying almost $25 or more for burgers and sides (2 people). This service style to me gave the place a cheap feel which does not match the prices and premium burger choices. I ordered the Wellington burger which was ok. While I liked where they were going with the concept of the mushroom topping but It was not what I expected and it did not appear to be freshly made but an in house pre-made topping of mushrooms which was pasty-like. Don't get me wrong being a mushroom lover it was not bad at all but not the best texture wise. The burger meat was well cooked with a nice flame taste, but could do for a little season. The fries were hot fresh and perfectly salted but were frozen not fresh, just so you know but they were ok. My wife ordered the Turkey burger big, big, big disappointment. The meat appeared to be pre-baked in a preformed pan then placed on the grill. I do meal meal prep for the week and make my mini turkey meat loafs this way. The turkey burger had the same pre-formed look as my mini turkey meat loafs. We may have been ok with that but the meat was obviously over worked which gave it the same texture of a meatloaf that has been over worked. Sorry it just did not work for us. Also I was wondering why the turkey burger had a weird taste. I was thinking it was the meat but no it was the pickles. Please get rid of those, bad choice please. Once I took those off and had a bite, both of us were like ok the turkey burger was a little better but still not great. That being said I really enjoyed the grilled asparagus tender with a nice grill char. Thank goodness I had a groupon and our meal was half the price not sure I will be going back in an easier sell to try a place again but the wife said I will be going alone sorry guys just being honest. Despite some bad reviews of this place, I still went here 3 times already. I came here first with a coupon, and rest no coupon. I actually like this place a lot that I even go here without the coupon. I love their burger, especially their Wellington burger. It's a small neat burger place with violet walls and rock albums hung with 80s music playing. The service, is typical but I had came here on a time where management was there and he came to our table at least twice to check if everything was great. I tried their Greek burger since I love lamb but didn't like it as much. When I came here first, I forgot to tell the lady to take the mushrooms or of the Wellington burger because I don't like mushrooms. So I took a bite with the mushrooms and I would say it's a happy accident. I loved it. My siblings did not like feta cheese and my friend doesn't like mushrooms, but they are now believers because of the Wellington burger. It seriously was good. Con their prices of their specialty burgers like Wellington is upwards of $7.99 but I think it's worth it. I get my burgers medium well so it's still juicy. I really like it and would recommend it absolutely. Wellington burger! Get it as is. Trust me.

3.5...But I'm going to round down to 3....with hopes of going back up when I actually try their burgers. We stopped in here after eating because Steven wanted a milkshake. We didn't even read the milkshake menu (so I have no idea whether it's basic or inventive) because they had a sign up advertising their Apple Pie milkshake. Personally, I love a good apple crumble with some ice cream melting on the side so I talked Steven C. into getting this milkshake lol. It took a little longer to come out considering how empty the place was and it seemed like maybe they were trying to figure out how to make this new milkshake. But it was totally worth the wait. So good!! with chunks of apple near the bottom that I was able to suck up the straw after some straw mashing. Steven C. also tried one of their GIANT chocolate chip cookies and loved it. I'm not a cookie fan but I tried a small nibble and wasn't opposed to having more - as it wasn't overly dry. $7+ for a large cookie and a milkshake seems a bit steep so that's why I'm rounding down to 3 stars but the burgers that I saw other people getting did look rather delicious. With so many other good burger places within 1 mile of BGR it's hard to say for sure that I would go back, but I wouldn't be opposed. The 80's decor and music may draw some followers, and one customer was reallllly dressed the part lol, but I'm not sure this will draw the Nova crowd that they'll need.

This place is located in a new plaza in Plantation off off South University. The choices of burgers is amazing but not for the health conscientious! Lesly went with the Triple D which a burger topped with an Over Easy Egg, grilled jalapeno and cheddar cheese. I went with the Turkey Burger because its claim to game was its infused with Portabella mushrooms and Gorgonzola cheese. We also split an order of Parmesan fries which weren't cheap at $3.25 but one portion was enough for 2. Our food was great and the atmosphere was very hip with lots of 70s and 80s rock memorabilia. There is also a $15.00 for $30.00 offer on Yelp which makes it worth the trip.

I had a Groupon so I went on a Friday evening and was surprised to see the tables empty and 2 people picking up orders. Needless to say I was hesitant. I chose to "Create Your Legend"; one burger had cheddar, bacon, lettuce tomato & pickle, the other burger had bacon, lettuce, tomato & grilled pineapple. I ordered fries with the burgers at $2.89 each - I thought this was pricey for the amount of fries given (not enough to share for fry lovers). I got home with the food and we dug in and I was pleasantly surprised on how tasty the burger was, one of the best I tasted in a long time! It was well done as I'd requested (I hate to see pink). The fries were great but I still feel they are over-priced. I don't know why this place wasn't packed, they need to get the word out. The burgers are very reasonably priced and I will definitely be returning!

To start, the atmosphere at BGR is 80's and 90's music themed, old record covers all over the walls, different tables and lighting. Cool color scheme, laid back. I've eaten here about eight times, and the quality is consistent and fantastic. Buns are fresh, meat is perfect, bacon is crispy and fries are golden. You must get a fried egg on your burger, they cook it perfectly!!! Top it off with one of the shakes, you will not be disappointed. Also, the food does not lose quality if you decide to order take-out and eat it at home (I have done that a few times to beat rush hour). The owner, Javier is very friendly and was genuinely happy that I enjoyed my burger. The staff is very nice and cordial. BGR The Burger Joint never disappoints!!

Another great trip. Couple new items on the menu a salmon fillet burger and Bleu cheese burger, but I stuck with my happiness. Little busier this time. They are running a Groupon right now so it was good to see the place busier but they were not staffed to take it lol. Still the same 2 people behind the counter so we wanted a little but it was worth it. GOOD BURGERS

This place was ok. It was great to get a free business card during the time they were open to try out a burger but that was it. Whoever they girl was the greeted customers or took orders over the phone could have had a better attitude. Definitely a Burger-Fi wanna be place.

Burger didn't not hold up well with the bun. Skimpy on the onion rings. Service friendly. Quick to get the food. I have to go back to use other Groupon. So I'm hoping to see change.

A 2.9 but I'll give a notch up. I have to admit, I'm pretty much DONE, DONE, DONE with burger places. It has gotten so out of hand that most places have forgotten what the main objective is - just make a great burger that is flavored well! This is somewhat the case when it comes to BGR! I was invited here for the pre-grand opening with a limited menu and everything being free of charge (YES, I'm down). I ordered "The Burger" well done with onions, tomato and lettuce (your standard burger) and fries. Although the burger was flamed to perfection and was still juicy, it lacked any seasoning that would set them apart from the many burger joints that have been popping up. The fries were overly salty but in a way were still good and crispy. The atmosphere was nice and the table tops are nicely decorated with various images. This seems to be a great place to take the family or just chill. They also deliver to folks within the area which is a plus. I'm going to say that my issues were due to them trying to get there feet wet and will probably give them a try again when I'm in the area. Another review should come about soon!

A couple of days ago we got a coupon in the mail for this new burger place - free fries with a burger, save $5 with a $25 order, and save $10 with a $45 order. Hubby loves burgers and wanted to go there today. I really wasn't in the mood for a burger but I love hubby so I agreed to go. It was great and I hope that even after the honeymoon stage the restaurant will continue to provide the same quality of food and service. The interior has a rock n roll theme - framed pics of musicians on the walls and table tops with band logos. The capacity is 49 and there's seating for 32. We each ordered a sandwich, side, and drink. The bill was just over $30 and we had sticker shock. Waiting for the food, we thought - this had better be FABULOUS to be worth the price because we could've gone to a traditional restaurant instead of a storefront burger spot to pay this price for lunch. Then the food came out - I got a medium rare ground leg of lamb burger, as it is offered - no alterations. It had feta cheese, tzatziki sauce, onions and cucumber. (The menu said it came with lettuce and tomato but mine didn't have any - I didn't realize how the burger was supposed to come until I re-read the menu after I got home!). This was so delicious! The meat was juicy and was authentically spiced without being overly salty or gamey. This was worth the $11.99 price. I got a side of grilled asparagus that was dry, with no grease at all, and very well seasoned without overpowering the flavor of the veg. Each piece had snap; even though they were thin they weren't overcooked! (There's only a dime difference between the asparagus and sweet potato fries - $3.99 vs $3.89 - get the asparagus!). My sugar-free iced tea cost $2.50, so between the sandwich, veggies and drink this was not a cheap lunch. I couldn't finish the food - I have half of a burger left, along with asparagus and the drink so it'll feed me twice, making the price easier to digest, so to speak! But even if I scarfed every bit of my lunch down I'd do it again in a heartbeat because the lamb was perfect. Hubby had an Original dry-aged beef burger with a fried egg and American cheese and it was good, but my burger was worth the trip. They use brioche buns that well complimented both meats. (NOTE: We went back yesterday and had a regular burger with Wellington topping - a mix of sauteed mushrooms, onions and truffle oil - that is just out of this world - it made the burger scrumptious, and a 'snack' while waiting for the delicious ahi tuna, grilled pineapple and marinated ginger burger, and another Greek burger...seriously great eats...) People poured into the small shop and strangers shared tables just to secure a seat. Even though there are many cooks working quickly, customers had to wait a few minutes for their food. Customers get pagers that flash lights when the food is ready so there's a steady flow of people by the counter. I can't wait to return for another lamb burger! I don't care if I have to wait for it or take the food to go and picnic in the car. I know I could spend less money to eat somewhere else but I'd rather return for this food, not because hubby wants to go or because we have a coupon (which we forgot at home today!) but because I'll be hankering for another Greek burger! (I joined the email club and got an offer for a free burger with a drink and fries by 9/20/14! Nice!) This can be a pretty healthy meal - next time I'm getting it on lettuce instead of bread, because the meat is the star, with a side of tasty grilled asparagus! I'll just drool at those who order the 'hand spun' shakes!

Just tried BGR for the first time. I will start with the positive and say that the service was timely. The staff was friendly and helpful. Okay now for the not so good. I ordered a burger and fries. It's a burger joint ( no pun intended) so this should be a home run!!! Well, the burger was okay nothing to write home about. It was cooked perfectly but no flavor, especially for being cooked over a flame. Additionally, the bun was hard! C'mon folks! The staff tried to rectify the situation and hooked me up with a lettuce wrap, since they didn't have a soft bun. It wasn't the best experience but it wasn't the worst.

As someone who experienced BGR in Dupot circle in Washington D.C, Alexandra, Virginia and Tampa, FL. I am happy that a BGR finally opened down to my neck of the woods in Plantation, FL. I went the day after they first opened to having a burger and fries. It was cooked brilliantly as were the fries. Be warned, these fries can be addicting and there is no cure. I really hope that South Florida can really see how different they are from their competitors and enjoy their food. The atmosphere is awesome in my opinion. They have Rock Album covers and tables mosiacs of differnet subject such as smileys to albums.

Went there for lunch. They have a deal called the boxset for $9.99. It includes burger, fries and soda. The burger tasted fresh and cooked to perfection. The fries were good and the condiment bar was well stocked and clean. I did not leave the place feeling miserably stuffed. Definitely will go back for lunch!

Merrr. I wasn't as impressed as I thought I would be. Now before I get ahead of myself, let me first disclaim that I only eat the veggie burgers. Firstly, I loathe University Dr., thus making this location objectionable. However, it's located in the Zona Fresca / Carrabas plaza, so it's not as atrocious as being in the Fountains or the Tower Shops. Parking is a breeze and because this location is new, the place wasn't super busy despite being peak lunch hour. And that was a good thing as there really isn't a whole lot of seating, probably 15ish tables. The decor/setting is cute, but I pretty much dismiss the ambiance factor at these kinds of fast-casual circa Chipotle restaurants. You are not going to go on a hot date here, nor have a business meeting or a celebratory meal - you are in and out, so where the groovy rainbow colored lights and mosaic tables are cool, I don't really give a shit. The menu was much more extensive than I was expecting, offering chicken, turkey burgers and even tuna burgers with some more unusual sides like asparagus. You can dress your burger for free with lettuce, tomato, onion and pickles but have to pay an extra dollar for cheese. They also have fancier options like bacon or a fried egg to top your burgers with if you please. I didn't put too much thought into my order though, as I signed up for the emails and for doing so, was sent a coupon for a free burger with the purchase of a side and a fountain drink. Well, here is where things got a wittle shaky. I walked up to the register with my coup ready on my phone, but the girl working told me that to redeem the coupon, I would have to print it out. Really?! If I can board a friggen plane by scanning a bar code on my phone, I should be able to claim a $7 veggie burger. Hello. I insisted (nicely) that she ask the manager, so she took my phone and I watched as she showed the email/coupon to a handful of different people. The final verdict was that they would uphold the coupon, but I wasn't really feeling the amount of people passing around my phone, not to mention bringing it back into the kitchen. Fine, whatever. When my food came out, I was less than thrilled with how they put your receipt on the top of your burger and then secure it on there with a skewer. Call me OCD/anal... but, I don't really approve. This paper, which has been chemically bleached and treated, passed between hands (register to cook), etc., does not need to be pinned to the top of my food. Again, fine, whatever. If the veggie burger was knock-out, I could have totally overlooked the coupon hiccup or the fact that they unnecessarily added my receipt as a gratuitous topping, but, it was just alright. The flavor was decent but the texture left something to be desired. For comparison's sake, the veggie burger at BurgerFi (the most magnificent specimen of veggie burgers) is quinoa based and has a less crumbly, more authentic burger-like texture, where as BGR's is black bean based and was a a few inches too thick (hold your "that's what she said" jokes), and sadly fell apart right at the first bite, crumbling into chunks of distinguishable ingredients. The onions were grilled which was nice, but I actually prefer the zing of raw onion. Overall it was messy but tasty.. but not good enough to make me choose BGR over BurgerFi, especially since it was more expensive than BurgerFi ($12 and change total for the veggie burger, fries and drink [before coupon]). The fries were good but the portion was weight-watchers sized. In summation, the food is competitive but not a gold-medalist compared to Burger 21 or BurgerFi which are both a hop, skip and a jump away. However, being that these kinds of burger places are a dime a dozen, I suppose it just comes down to preference, so give them a shot and see if they are your cuppa tea.

I decided to give this place a try since I had a coupon for a free burger. There weren't any customers in the restaurant on a Wednesay evening at around 7:30pm which isn't necessarily a good sign. However, that does mean that I didn't have to wait in line to order! I ordered a burger, fries, and a fountain drink. I then decided to wait outside at one of their tables. The burger took a little longer to cook than I would have liked although I wasn't really in a hurry. They came out with the burgers about 15-20 minutes later and luckily for me, there wasn't anyone else in the place. The employee said that he tried calling my pager (they give you a pager after you order) and he couldn't figure out why no one was responding. He finally noticed that I was sitting outside and he took the pager. He responded that the cashier ( who I think was the manager) typed in the wrong pager number. If it had been really busy, I probably would have had to go to the counter and ask where my food was. Seeing as how I was the only customer there, it wasn't such a big deal. The burger was decent and the fries were tasty. The portion of fries was a bit on the skimpy side and they could easily have given me more of them. The employees were very friendly and they seemed to really appreciate the business.

Back in the area. Stopped in again. Burger with Fried Egg cooked perfectly. French Fries- amazing. Thick-cut. Cooked Fresh. Owner Xavier is super-friendly. You MUST try this place!!

Well I order the turkey burger with Swiss cheese and apple bacon. I must say that it was not so great. The turkey burger was more like a very thick meatloaf. It had a shape like it was cook in a very big cupcake pan then placed on the grill. The turkey was overworked when they prepared it. I order the turkey burger because I love eating them. If you want a good turkey burger you should try Ruby Tuesday.

I found this place by coincidence in Washington, DC. When I saw there had opened one right around my neighborhood I was thrilled. The burgers are juicy and cooked to perfection. I love the onion rings. It is a bit on the expensive side but if you are looking for a good burger this is the place to go!

Had a really good bacon cheese burger, service was a little lacking. Guy at the counter didn't seem to have a clue and was hard to understand, had a groupon that he couldn't figure out how to use. Took over 10mins to get my order that I called in and I could see was waiting for me in a bag. Will go back since it was a really good burger and above average fries.

Dinner with the wife and kids. Not a larger enough kids menu. Just burger and hotdog. Buns were so hard, tried to eat my burger without it. But the lack of taste of the burger patty caused me to leave half of on my plate. I'm very disappointed after reading so many solid reviews. With all the other great gourmet burger joints out there, they need to really step up their game. I did like the music, it was a remind how fun the 80's were. I will give it one more try because anyone can have a bad day. The Burger Joint better be ready

Great burgers made to order with delicious sides. Onion rings were out of this world.

I received one of those coupons in the mail for the grand opening that promise a free burger. And I have been on the lookout for a really good burger since I moved here two years ago and decided that after I found out what the catch was I would try one. I walked into this place that had a kind of groovy feeling to it complete with memorabilia on the walls and light fixtures with many different multicolored light bulbs sticking out of it. I am not sure if it's me, but quite honestly, I don't care for this type of decor. I think restaurants like these should either resurrect the themes and do them convincingly or let them lie. The cashier who took my order didn't seem too interested in serving me but she did give me a recommendation after I prompted her and she told me that the value of my coupon was only 6.99 so I would have to pay the difference. That's fine if you only want the basic burger without cheese as cheese is a dollar more. A little pricy if you ask me for a burger without add ones if you ask me. Essentially you can buy a whole burger for ten dollars and still have no sides or drink. I decided that I would try the Wellington which is supposed to be a beef burger with blue cheese, caramelized onions, sautéed mushrooms and black truffles. I swapped out the blue cheese for Swiss cheese. In this restaurant, you are given a beeper which would summon you to pick up your burger. I observed the rest of the tacky decor, the few lunch time diners, location of the restroom and an uninterested owner near the rear who was busy fiddling away on his computer. I couldn't help but wonder if he didn't have an office to complete his work, while the same waitress who took my order brought him a smoothie to which he expressed his disdain. All the while never greeting or even sending a smile his diner's way. I have felt more welcome in a hospital and for anyone who recalls their experiences, that's saying much. I went back to looking at the cooks who are placed in full view. I watched as the tossed fries in a metal bowl. I also watched them soak a beef patty with a vile looking sauce and thanked the heavens I wasn't the recipient of that monstrosity. Except I was. The burger came out looking like baby poop between two bun slices (I am not even exaggerating). The taste left a lot to be desired and it seems as if the claim to onions, truffles and mushrooms was all souped up into a great big mass of gruel that just dripped and oozed all over the place. I couldn't even finish the burger. Needless to say I will not be returning....I guess my search for a good burger continues. Sigh. If you do venture into this place and plan on eating, try your luck with another burger. Bring your own toppings if you're on a budget!

Took my son here for dinner on a Groupon deal I had. First thing is the parking in this plaza is extremely tight due to LA Fitness clients and Carrabas, so be prepared to not find parking. Once inside BGR, the decor is all 80s style with album covers on the walls and the menu is on the wall at the cashier ordering. It was empty, we were the only patrons in there at 4pm and nobody came in the 40-50 minutes we were there. My son ordered the Triple D burger while I opted for the Ahi Tuna burger, both cooked med-rare. We both ordered shakes and fries as well. everything was out in about 10 minutes and everything was hot. My ahi burger was delicious, just the right mixture of ginger, teriyaki sauce and pineapple rings gave it a nice zing. My son wasnt too impressed with his burger however, he would have rather go to the Chilis in the same plaza that has better, bigger burgers :o The shakes were tasty, I had the strawberry, he the vanilla. Fries were regular frozen fare dumped in the oil, nothing special to report except the cost of $3.50 each and not even close to the basket of fries served other places. Shakes are $4.99, which is comparable to local ice cream shops. I give 2 stars because my son was not impressed with the small burger and also if I would not have used the Groupon deal, this would EASILY have been over $40 for two people with counter service only.

They have amazing burgers. They are cooked to perfection. The Greek is one of my favorite. Every time I go for lunch the staff and owner are so friendly and helpful.

I am usually not a big fan of gourmet burgers, but the burger I had was REALLY good. I had a lamb burger, or the Greek burger. It was very fresh and nicely assembled. The burgers are really big. I also got the Parmesan and garlic fries which were the bomb. Finally I tried tried the chocolate shake and a huge chocolate chip cookie that my friend ordered, which tasted home made. I noticed there are seasonal burgers here - I'd be very interested in trying the lobster burger when it comes out. The place is casual and very family friendly. The food took about 15-20 minutes.

Excellent food! Ive had a variety of their burgers and they've always been great. The shakes are tasty too and the chocolate chip cookies incredible. Ive only had take out since I work 2 doors down but I know the staff has always been very friendly. I usually get the kids meal with the sliders because their burgers are so big! Way better than burgerfi and 5 guys imo

I received some coupons in the mail a few weeks ago for BGR Burger Joint and wanted to check them out. They are located in the same plaza as Publix and Zona Fresca, across Peters Rd. from Whole Foods. I ordered a cheeseburger with American cheese ( well done, no pink in the middle) and A-1 sauce, the garlic/rosemary fries, and a drink to go. The staff was friendly and the inside of the restaurant was clean. It took about 10 minutes for my order to be ready. I have tried all the burger places off of University Dr. ( Five Guys, Burger Fi and Burger21) and have been disappointed with the quality of their meat. I didn't know what to expected with Burger Joint, so I was keeping an open mind. Once I got home, I tried the fries first and they were absolutely amazing! They were perfectly crispy and the seasoning mix of rosemary/garlic was perfect. I unwrapped my burger and cut in half to make sure it was cooked all the way through and it was, no pink, so that made me happy! I took my first bite and then had to take another... it was delicious! The burger was so so good!! The quality of the meat is 10 times superior than the greasy meat at Five Guys, Burger Fi, or Burger 21. I highly recommend this place and will definitely be ordering another burger from here soon.

I ordered their veggie burger. I love veggie burgers. However, this one was terrible. It was tasteless and fell apart, which I know can happen with veggie burgers but this fell apart much more than what I have seen in the past. I won't be ordering their veggie burger again. The reason why I didn't give this place a 1 star rating is because I feel bad.

Rude!! Very unprofessional. Had a bad first experience so gave them another chance and this one was worse than the first. Wanted to order kids meal because portions are huge menu doesn't state an age requirement but she refused. Said jokingly had a kid in the car and she was just plain rude! Want make a third mistake and don't recommend to anyone. No wonder its always a ghost town in there.

A GIANT thank you to Amber, Danny, and Mac for making my visit to BGR on Saturday so delightful. I got the Lamb Burger and it was OUT OF THIS WORLD, cooked perfectly, with the perfect combination of flavors. My daughter got the Wellington, which was also delicious. The vanilla milkshake was the best I ever had. The 80's decor and music was fun and reminded of my younger days. The staff here goes above and beyond! I will definitely be coming back very soon. :)

This is a gem. 1st experience was right before they opened up... the guy gave me a menu and I comment that I love the idea a chocolate milkshake. He told me to hang out for a second. He made me a shake and said it was in the house. OK That Was awesome. I have eaten there a dozen time. Food is yum...

Unfortunately, I can not give this a good review. The burger was dry, over cooked and did not have flavor. I ordered it medium rare, it was cooked medium well to well. The buns were ok, plenty of cooked onions were included. They gave us a coupon for a free hot dog, which we got. My husband did not find it very good either. The French fries were hot and good. Burger Fi remains our favorite.

Just came here to BGR joint with a couple friends, not sure what all the other haters posts are about because we all got awesome burgers! Quick service, perfectly cooked, fresh toppings and soft burger buns. Couldn't ask for anything more out of a burger joint

To start, I'm actually being kind with leaving 2 because I'm a believer in great food + awesome service. My family & I came in to try the flame broiled burgers. When first walking in, we noticed the funky decor and 80s music being played which we found to be kind of cool. There were two other couples in the dining room which we immediately thought to ourselves that this place isn't getting the best advertisement being in the cut of the plaza which still wouldn't deter us from good food. Definite believer in hole-in-the-wall spots! HOWEVER, if you have a cashier or so-called "greeter" like Miss Janah...your establishment will lose a lot of business especially when word of mouth travels fast in the community that we're here to express our TOTAL dissatisfaction of the customer service! Being first time customers and as we approached the register, she already had a sour face like she didn't want to be there. When presented my email coupon for the "free burger", she accepted it but with an attitude but totally paid it no mind because I know what it is to work with customers...some don't have the patience, or can be difficult. We were far from that. We added two more burgers to our order, then my husband had asked on which was the burger that had the fried egg...Janah's response with a tacky attitude was "YOU BUILD YOUR OWN BURGER HERE". Totally threw my husband off. Some of us customers are on "budgets" which before cashing out I simply asked if I could also use my $5 off of $25 purchase...Janah once again replied with a tacky attitude that I can't use both which we understood. As we waited for our food, Janah & another female employee that was behind the grill began chuckling loudly like they had forgotten they have customers right in front of them. I thought I should've reported them to the Manager but our visit was already ruined, didn't want to ruin someone else's day but thought its best someone higher up should see this in writing. I won't discredit TBJ because the food was delicious, however we really would've had a better experience and have enjoyed our food without the ignorant behavior from Ms Janah. Last BUT not least, she forgot to include our delicious Parmesan cheese fries so I had to go back to the register to order again with Janah. By then, she had to know that we were dissatisfied with her behavior...when the fries were done she personally walked the tray of fries to our table and literally threw the tray on the table with force. We were all apalled including our 10-year old son. With BurgerFi being with close proximity, it is always welcome to hear, WELCOME TO BURGERFI. TBJ owners really need to re-evaluate who they employ in their establishment or may lose some good, loyal customers.

Love this place!! The burgers are delicious and a great size. They have healthy options like asparagus and you can get the burger wrapped in lettuce. I also had the grilled chicken and it was juicy and delicious. I never leave here hungry.

I went for the 1st time today for lunch because I had a free burger coupon. I asked for well done & it was really pink inside, so much that it was dripping red! I also opened the wrapped burger to find a strand of hair. I was really rooting for you guys, but I wont be going back. Too many other burger options that are wayyy better that are in the same area.

Took the family here to try it out after reading all the good reviews. The kids enjoyed the burgers and fries. I ordered the ahi tuna with salad and I have to tell you, it was really gross. The piece of tuna was fine but it was covered in this nasty brown syrup, which was supposed to be a teriyaki sauce, the lettuce was slimy and the tomato hard as a rock. The food reminds me of Five Guys but more expensive. Don't plan to go back.

    (2)
  • Rob K.

Mediocre at best. Cashier was slower than molasses and you couldn't hear a word the guy was saying. Trash left on tables and blood (literally) on my receipt. Overpriced for the quality of food. Stick to Five Guys a few blocks away. I wouldn't go back.

There has been a huge surge of gourmet quick serve burger joints, but I think BGR is leading the pack. My burger, cooked over flame with quality beef, has been perfect EVERY time. The fries are just how I like them: crispy on the outside, velvety on the inside. Javier, the owner, is a friendly host, dedicated to the satisfaction of every customer. Don't let the construction next door deter you from stopping in. They are open for business, and serving up a great burger!
