This is a very nice place to grab lunch. The decor is very rustic and worn. The cook sure doesn't care food great. my wife is very picky, but. she was able to get a plain turkey with american cheese on white bread. I had the pork lunch special with hot sauce. Very good. The sweet potato fries were best I've had in a long time actually sweet. If you want good food and don't mind worn decor with load locals this is the place to eat in Perry, Fl. Really busy 11:30 to 12:30 parking lot packed

If you like sitting on vinyl duct tape eat there. I sure don't. The food was hit and miss.

Yeah, 5 stars, really people? This is a friendly greasy spoon diner but not the kind with excellent food. I had the cat fish and the dinner came with 2 sides and garlic toast or a yeast roll. The fish was ok, very thin fillets, lightly breaded and fried. The server kindly brought me a nice pile of lemons to accompany it and they were needed to bring out some flavor. I also had a baked sweet potato, steamed really but it was a simple thing they couldn't screw up, served with a cinnimon fake butter, push that to the side and just enjoy the potato. I love love Okra and stewed tomatoes and it was inedible. Flacid pieces of bacon floating in some sort of yellowish sauce ( I think it was fat) enveloping the veggies, yeah not so much. The garlic bread was simply sliced white bread with some yellow stuff on it, my Mom would have called it Oleo, yeah I piled that onto the okra and pushed it all to the side. My dining companion had some unrecognizeable cut of steak, over cooked and tough. His greens also swimming in bacon fat and more oleo for his baked white potato, he said the best part of his meal was the yeast roll. I felt like going into the kitchen and showing them a few things to eliminate to make this place better. Get rid of the garlic toast, cut out the bacon in the veggies or perhaps just use a smaller amount and fry it up first, don't just boil it into the veggies. Take the potatoes out of the foil and bake them, they just steam in the foil. It could be simple, not more expensive and much better. Let me at that stove! Again people here in this little town were very nice and I hope they do well but they would have to make some major changes to get 4 or 5 stars from me.

I grew up in Taylor County and Pouncey's was where I went to get food as good as my Mama's. The restaurant sold in recent years, suffered, and has bounced back with the quality of old. For a taste of the real coastal south, head in on Saturday night for Swamp Night: fried mullet, gator, swamp cabbage and redneck souffle for dessert! Hush puppies always come with guava jelly, the fried things have minimal breading and maximum crispiness and if you've never had swamp cabbage before make this the time you try it. Swamp cabbage is the frontier way to prepared hearts of palm - with the whole palm 'boot.' It is chopped and cooked with smoked meat until tender and delicious. Be sure to have a dessert - any dessert. They are homemade by a true kitchen wizard, Karen Aman Baker. She is my aunt, but she really is a good cook!

Remarkable, the best Southern food for miles. The fried chicken's so hot it will scorch your tongue, but so crisp and delicious you won't be able to stop yourself. The vegetables are absolutely spectacular: real mashed potatoes, absolutely fresh peas and pole beans, and honest-to-God homemade creamed corn. The key lime pie is made from key limes they squeeze themselves. The service is wonderfuI, the sort of sweet southern gals that make you feel like they invited you into their home. I kick myself for every time I drove by this unassuming place without stopping in. Well worth a detour from Tallahassee. There's a listing for this place on Yelp that says it's closed. It isn't.

Diner type restaurant, friendly and competent service. Had smoked ribs, very good. Try the swamp cabbage, very good. You will be surprised.

If you're worried about the small number of reviews, don't be. Pouncey's should have "There's no such thing as a bad choice," written under their name on their sign. Everything was absolutely delicious--every single thing. I sampled some of my wife's food and it was equally delicious. I didn't make a bad choice either. It's impossible. Get anything on the menu. It doesn't matter. Even if you hate the food normally, it won't matter.

Steaks are not fresh, hand-cut. They are pre-packaged frozen meat. Restaurant was dirty, waitresses were dirty. Unpleasant experience, we didn't even eat. Stomach was turned by the dirty tables and floors.

Great southern home cooking. Homey atmosphere and friendly staff. So so so SAD to see this Perry landmark forced out of business. I hope the restaurant owner decides to open somewhere else in Perry. I would certainly follow such good food to a new location should she decide to do this. Thanks for all the great meals over the years!

Excellent Food! If you get here in time for breakfast, try the re-eye-gravey. All of the food is large in quantity and good. It looks to be a place for the locals... they KNOW where the food is good. Place probably has not been updated for many years but who cares when the food is great and the service is outstanding.

This place is just what the doctor ordered! We had a delicious ribeye, the service was beyond great, and the restaurant wasn't as rundown as I expected...I don't know what the other yelp-ers were talking about. If you like desserts, you can't leave Perry without trying one (or two). We had the key lime pie and the lemon merengue. Both of these were the best I've had in my life. So happy I walked in here.

We stopped in on a Sunday and I had the fried chicken special with green beans, mac & cheese with peach cobbler. My husband had ground steak, mashed potatoes and a salad. He enjoyed his meal and was happy that the mashed were homemade. My chicken was small pieces but cooked perfectly, the green beans were awesome and the peach cobbler. Mac & cheese tasted like American cheese, I prefer a good cheddar. So thumbs down on the mac, but it wasn't the worst I've ever had. Seats are really worn down, never seen so many big people in one place before, which explains the HUGE dips in the seats. When we visited there was a good mix of folks and all were treated well. We would go back if we ever pass this way again.

We followed instructions-bathroom break at hotel and picked a table not a booth Had a ribeye-living dangerously! It was great and the baked sweet potato was good too The sweet tea was just that Not a fan of the peach cobbler Service was good We got a kick out of watching the local folks get in and out of booths versus tourists fall in the cavernous holes. LOL.

This has to be the best in the area. The food was excellent freshly prepared. The restaurant needs a facelift. If this place was remodeled I would give it 5 stars .

I'm giving Pouncey's 2 stars based on the wait staff alone. The food was not very good. I had chicken breast and they did have a good flavor, my husband had some plate that had gator tail and it was very bland. We are texans and use to our food having flavor. The swamp cabbage tasted like they had literally just taken it from the swamp and put it on his plate. (disgusting) I can't say enough nice things about the wait staff because they were extremely friendly. The "local customers" however, were like something from the movie, The Hills Have Eyes. If you're traveling thru this town...keep driving.

Had the best catfish and gator there last night! This morning we decided to get breakfast before heading out of town and it was fantastic too! Huge portions and very reasonably priced! If you are in town you really need to try it!

This is small town in every way. Crowd is 99.7% Caucasian and that's they way they want it. Good for typical greasy spoon menu items. Booth seating had not been updated in 50 years and floor and building show the wear. Food quantity is always good. Go to the bathroom before you get here or prepare to be grossed out. Don't sit in the corner booths. They belong to the locals and you will be stated down if you do.

What a relief this place was. Found this little gem while traveling between Tallahassee and Tampa. The wait staff is friendly and the food is excellent. I had the biscuits & gravy and my wife a pancake. The coffee was tasty and orange juice is fresh. Our bill was less that $16 for the two of us.
