    In the running for top margarita in Pensacola. Their "medium" is huge and the perfect size! Food is fast, fresh, and relatively inexpensive. It's a great place to take kids and it has a very family friendly atmosphere.

    Not the cleanest place (ceiling tiles have visible mold) and the food was sub par. Chips and cheese dip were good but everything else was no bueno.

    Unbelievably low prices and pretty tasty food. Our server was so adorable and friendly. We ordered chimichangas smothered with chili verde. They came served with a side of green salsa. Not sure if this was a miscommunication or if they don't have chili verde and this was their way of accommodating our request. What kind of Mexican restaurant doesn't have chili verde on stand by?!

    Great service and yummy food. The burritos were amazing. My husband loves the quesadillas. Reasonably priced and the drinks were on point. This is our new go-to place.

    Say what you will, but this is just good Mexican comfort food. As someone who has come here for years, I can't ever remember having a bad meal. The staff is nice, the selection of menu items is wide, and the food always comes out fast, hot and tasty. It's very no-frills, but the value, portion sizes, and flavor of the food is great.

    Once again this is the BEST spot for Mexican food in Pensacola. Fast, friendly and tasty. The kids absolutely loved me getting whip cream in the face for my birthday! You have to go here.

    I know you're going to look at my review and look at the number of my check-ins and ask why such a low rating if you go there so often. It's a familiarity thing, local restaurant that knows your name... Yada yada yada (And my son loves the kids meal chicken fingers, so we order that almost twice a week) The food here is good, the service is good but it's noting out of this world. It is just good Tex-Mex traditional Americanize Mexican food. The salsa is okay to good Vallarta's is not stingy with the chips and the guacamole is generally really good. ;

    Well I've been here a few times -out of simple need for a fix of Mexican. I've eaten at a couple of other "Mexican" places in Pensacola and decided to wait until I get back to SoCal to be satisfied. The food here is pretty bland and the salsa is tepid. So why go back? I was homesick and needed some Mexican, even a weak imitation would probably do. So I'm a difficult customer who likes to substitute some things and have others taken off, I know it's a pain but so what? Isn't the customer always right? Oops, it's not 1950 anymore, the customer is rarely right. Still, I had ordered a burrito a few weeks ago and asked for some guac to be put inside, and I paid extra ($2) for it. As I ate it I realized -No guac...! Oh well. Well today in the throes of needing some Mexican I ordered some nachos with pork instead of beef, no biggie, right? All I heard was "No!" (insert the Soup Nazi's voice but in spanish) the guy on the phone asks the guys in the kitchen, who say no...? Por que? This is no gourmet, its a local dive Mexican restaurant and it wasn't busy in the slightest. So I say- fine, eventually they decide if I pay more I can have my pork, and I say -Sure, why not! Then I remind him that I ordered last week and paid for guac but didn't get any, so could they include some extra in my order? When I went to pick it up the guy charged me for the guac as well. He kept saying Sorry, and I explained that I paid for it already and had never received it, but clearly customers lie and only want things for free. I weep for the days when store owners gave a crap about keeping customers and can every now and then throw in a tiny side of guac. So I'll never go back, the flavor isn't great in any way to induce me to lower my standards any more. So my advice, try some place else or better yet, go to SoCal and see how Mexican food and service is really done!

    This is my first Mexican restaurant experience in Pensacola and it was great. The food was great, as was the service. Looking forward to trying the margaritas one day when I'm not on my lunch break. Prices for lunch were very reasonable.

    Ewe... Not good. The food was bland and not tasty. Not even the chips or margarita werr redemming. We didnt come close to even half way finishing our food or margaritas. On the plus side, the sever was nice and the place had a good amount of locals in it.

    LOVE! We love the food, service, margaritas, and special salsa. We have a favorite waitress, Theresa. She has made gluten free eating very possible. It's the closest we can get to "real" Mexican food around here. :)

    Vallarta's is the closest Mexican restaurant to my house right now. It's ok. Sometimes it's crowded. Especially on Thursday when it's half price margaritas. But I've never had to wait more than 20 minutes. Once seated you'll be served complimentary chips and salsa. You can eat as much as you want. The salsa is like soup but flavorful and kind of addictive. I once asked the waiter for the recipe and he said he couldn't give it to me. "Mexi-cant" Since then I've tried to recreate this recipe but it's just not the same. Mine isn't bad either though. Once again I usually have Tacos "Americanos" - three hard shell beef tacos. It's alright. My only complain is that sometimes they don't drain the beef so well and it leaves ya hard - soft and mushy. I don't see how people eat those stuffed peppers or uncircumcised burritos covered with cheese or enchiladas with sauce. It's like-a-plate-a- plop. That's just me though. Other nights I go for the Tacos de Carne Asada served with pico de gallo rice and beans. Pretty good. When it's not Margarita Night, Dos Equis Amber on tap served in frosted mug. The waiters and waitresses are cordial. Service efficient. They usually have football, soccer, if you must, on the telly. Viewable from just about any seat.

    When I still lived in Pensacola this place was close so the fam and I went here often. Food was always so-so not anything great but not too bad either. My BFF Heather on the other hand served food with a fly stuck in it. GROSS! The management only offered to replace her rice. WTH? BTW- If your going on a weekend get there early it gets packed pretty quick since it's not all that large.

    Just your average Tex-Mex Restaurant. My wife and I came here on a Friday night, and they were PACKED. Service was OK, and food was sub-par. I would still prefer Cactus Flower for my future Mexican Food cravings.

    Born and raised in SOCAL, I think I have had some good Mexican food. This place is as good as it gets in my opinion, stop there if you get a chance. The wait staff are great and welcoming!

    My wife is from SoCal and is a Mexican food lover. After living in Pensacola for 10 years, this has become our favorite Mexican restaurant. It's not a flashy place and can get busy on a Friday night, but the food is always very good and the servers are always nice and on top of things. You can find flashier Mexican restaurants in Pensacola...but you won't find a more reasonable price and consistent good food and service!

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
