The food was the most sublime piece of work ever put in my mouth with their signature Volcano Sauce making everything you put in your mouth even better. The only downside was the one server in a nice suit dishin out everyone's food which caused a considerable wait for my food. The Volcano Sauce made up for it though alongside a smart voice of a divine live band who recited my favorite song, Mary Janes Last Dance by Tom Petty, which added nicely to the eccentric atmosphere.

Disgusting is the only word I can use to describe the frutti di mare. My whole table tried it and almost choked on how bad it was. The service was also unbearably slow. We waited an hour and a half for our food and it wasn't even that busy. Apparently the grits were good, but the calamari and Mac and cheese and everything else we tried was just ok. But that frutti di mare pasta.... Couldn't have gone more wrong. I went to the bathroom to try to throw up shortly after attempting to choke it down because I was so hungry after waiting. Don't go here.

Great food with a pretty view. Always get the shrimp and grits! Nice place for a large group.

Super seafood place on the water! Friendly staff, great view and lots of good food and drink choices! Red Snapper was the special and delicious with the sides. The Piña Colada was awesome and refreshing. Great service summed it up.

The good? Great location, decent bar, awesome Monday $.25 oyster special. The bad? They shuck the oysters with such disregard you end up with shell fragments in your mouth with every bite. they also tend to remove the part of the oyster that connects the flesh to the shell which is quite unpleasant to eat...

Simply delicious. I am always hesitant to try new restaurants, as I have celiac disease. Our waitress was well informed, attentive, and very kind. Our food was amazing. (Grilled grouper with mashed potatoes and asparagus)

The more affordable side of The Fish House, I've been coming here for nine years when I'm in town for work or leisure. The $0.25 oyster (first dozen only) special is great for a Monday and I enjoy the draft beer. If you're in for a seafood experience that isn't as expensive but still as tasty as Fish House, check it out. If the weather is cooperative, there's also nice deck seating.

Excellent food and service- beautiful view on the water. Look at the signed photos of all the celebraties as you come in. Key Lime pie has real meringue. Note that they are closed after lunch until 5PM.

After having a horrible experience at Shaggy's and walking out, we came here. Nice ambiance, clean cut and polite staff, quick service, the oysters were fresh, the the prices were great ( 25 cents an oyster for your first dozen and $10 after that)! Our waitress Jennifer was completely on point and an EXCELLENT server. couldn't be more happy after the rude and trashy look and attitude at Shaggy's.

Not even worth the half price sushi on Tuesday night. What we were told would be a 30 minute wait turned into over an hour due to incompetent host staff. The manager acted as if it was business as usual and as a consultation send over a free, less than mediocre appetizer to accompany the mediocre entrees and sushi. We also had to return our glasses of wine because they had approx 6 dead flies floating in them. Disgusting. Our actual server was prompt and friendly which was the only good thing I can say about the experience. I used to frequent Atlas and Fish House, that's a thing of the past.

The atmosphere is sophisticated yet relaxed. I love eating oysters here Monday nights!

This place looked like a great waterfront seafood joint walking up to it but once you get your food everything goes down hill. The calamari were so over breaded my girlfriend and I had to "undress" the over cooked lil guys so we could taste the actual squid. And then my "Ribeye" special showed up and I could tell that the executive chef or whoever comes up with these dishes really is over compensating for a lack of knowledge. Let your ingredients speak for themselves. That wonderful ribeye was bastardized and humiliated with the "Cajun" seasonings they soaked it in. Such a disappointment. Will not be returning.

Great food, and cozy atmosphere. Fresh seafood, with an awesome patio and waterfront view of the bay.

We went here during an overnight trip to Pensacola. The wait time for the meal was longer than usual due to the kitchen compensating for 2 different restaurants (the Fish House is closed until Oct 17th). It wasn't extreme. We chose a table outside with a gorgeous view of the Bay. There was live music. The atmosphere was great. Hubby had draft beer and I had the house drink which was great. He had steak which was cooked to perfection. I had the grits a ya ya. It was to die for. Everything was cooked to perfection. Our waitress was fast and friendly. I definately plan to visit again.

The food here was the best I've had while in town, hands down. It was flavorful, creative, and worth the money. I might add an extra $, as prices for entrees ranged from $17 -$35 (with a few even more expensive), but again, it was WORTH IT. I had the shrimp&corn chowder, oysters Rockefeller, and the grits a ya-ya. The chowder was SCRUMPTIOUS. The oysters were very good. And the grits were to die for! I thought 6 shrimp was a little skimpy, but it was delicious. The atmosphere is really nice as its on the water and theres outdoor seating. The service was very good, our server was on the ball. I might say this was more like a 4.5 stars, but I'd rather be generous than stingy, so until yelp starts allowing us to review with decimals, 5 stars it is

Had dinner here with my husband before catching a Blue Wahoos game. It's a good place to eat but it's nothing spectacular. I ordered a spicy Bloody Mary and it tastes like pure Bloody Mary mix and zero alcohol. Didn't make a big deal out of it and ordered a land shark beer for a second drink. Had a dozen raw oysters on the half shell which were pretty good in taste and size and the snapper fish sandwich with fries , it was very delicious . Will be coming back .

Ate here last week and had some great sushi I (Gonna Roll) and crab claws were amazing. Service was friendly and nice.

Very quickly after my last review Maria contacted me with efforts to make my visit right. My boyfriend and I took a gamble and decided to go back for his last night before he went back to his duty station. We're both glad we did because the food(and service) lived up to what we expected the previous time we went. The server was very good, and the GM was very friendly when he personally apologized for the visit we had. My boyfriend said his food was good, and my food was delicious. The asparagus was good and oh my the Mac and cheese was phenomenal! My salmon was delicious as well. This was a much better experience(our visit was on a Monday), but I might be cautious going on a weekend in the future.

I'm not going to lie, I come here every time I fly down to Pensacola, its reliably good sushi and their ahi tuna appetizer is to die for. They have a great location in a marina with lots of outdoor seating by the dock and a lively fun crowd that's always full of energy. I highly recommend you stop by and try them out!

The best sushi I've ever had!!!! And half priced sometimes!! Such a wonderful deal. This is a wonderful restaurant and you can't beat the location and atmosphere. Everything I've had to eat here is amazing. The service sucks sometimes which can always be annoying and is why there aren't five stars to this review. The shrimp and grits is to die for. The calamari is awesome. Definitely worth visiting!

  • David D.

The staff was friendly and attentive. I had a dozen oysters on the half shell and a oyster po' boy. The oysters were fresh and very large. The po'boy was great and came with some fine homemade sauce.

I admit we went here because our other choices were filled up. The Fish House sent us over as the wait would be shorter. I had the grilled oysters. They were okay. I was comparing them to something I had in New Orleans-not fair I know. Very cheesy and not enough grill flavor for me. Good tho. Husband had tomato basil soup and said it was the best soup he has had in his life. Then we split the ya ya shrimp and grits. OMG-no words to describe. No grit to the grits-creamy. The shrimp is grilled wonderfully with a bit of spice to it. The grits come from the area. I am not giving it full credit because I cannot remember the ingredients. Trust me-get the shrimp and grits. If you look around, you will see many people there ordering it!

So, why did I want to go to this place? woo-hoo! I saw their event line up saying that Mondays are Oyster Happy Hour + $2.00 drafts. I could not wait, marking time, so I jetted right on over, going over 30 minutes out of my way to step right up for the dozen bivalves on the half shell, nice & fresh, right here on the Gulf. The promo is 25 cents/ea for first dozen, I ordered at the bar and waited patiently...and waited then, drum roll, there they appeared in front of me...12 of the smallest most pitiful looking things I'd seen on half shells. Some appeared to have been torn in two. I asked "where are these from...???" The reply? "Virginia". I replied w/italics: "Virginia?" I was astounded, truly. I asked the bar tender to "...please check, this is important." (No, she didn't need to know I had grown up in Texas, knew the rich history of the deliciousness of Gulf coats oysters that I knew Apalachicola, just down the road, was the supplier of most all Gulf Coast oysters, and that, well, I had driven 9+ hours two days prior to vaca in the area and to eat...fresh Gulf oysters on the half shell.) Another customer sitting at the bar made similar observations re: the smallness and the quality of the oysters, she too, taking advantage of Oyster Happy Hour. The bartender confirmed the origin of the oysters, explaining and apologizing simultaneously that "this is what the distributor brings..." implying this is then, what they serve. More chit chat from the neighboring customer and me re: the oysters, we each ate our dozen, thinking and saying were we to have simply ordered them on other occasions, we would have paid $10/dzn for them, an okay price for the Gulf and in oyster season, too, but for oysters the size of a quarter (maybe) and from Virginia? No thank you. The manager came out to explain they - essentially - serve what their supplier brings, and he, too, noticed how poorly they'd been shucked, that some of the shells were like paper (do not know the variety but that may have be typical). Bottom line? The place comp'd the oysters, which I would have paid for, and I did, plus the beer. Not a big ticket, no, but won't go out of my way to go back there again, nor to their sister restaurants. Why bother? And next time? Call (wherever) before I go & ask the origin of the oysters first....

The food here was great, and Monty was a pleasant and very accommodating server. We were very lucky to have him taking care of our table. As for the "Live" Entertainment, the acoustic performer, while a pretty skilled guitarist, is a HORRIBLE singer. It appears he is trying for a sound that isn't natural for him, and sadly it ruins the ambiance of the meal entirely. It really was a frustrating and distracting aspect to the evening, where his systematic butchering of every rock classic imaginable distracted from pleasant table conversation. We plan on attending Atlas for more great food, but perhaps next time with earplugs.

This is the second time at Atlas, the first I could say it was OK, as I ordered your normal entree of Cobia. Tuesday, June 23, I went and had the sushi special, where everything is half price for sushi! The Atlas, does know how to do sushi, from the Jinja Roll, to the Bulgarian roll. Those two were my favorite. Atlas utilizes large cuts of fresh fish, like Tuna, Salmon and White Fish, and then melds them together with a strip of beef filet. Who knew it works, and it works very well. Apparently Tuesday is my favorite day at the Atlas, and sushi is my favorite there. Service at the Atlas was excellent, what more can I say, I'm a fan.

I went here for my birthday dinner when I was visiting town with my Mom. We arrived very late in the evening for dinner because of a nightmarish day of travel. I was so hungry and most of all very sad because my birthday hadn't gone very well thus far. The hostesses were prompt in their description of the menu and gave us a choice of several booths with a water view. Our server was Shaun. He was beyond amazing. He knew the menu very well and recommended things we should order based on our very vague cravings. I had the Redfish with beurre blanc sauce and grilled vegetables. My mom ordered some type of bacon wrapped shrimp over some crazy good potatoes. I ordered a house margarita which was delicious and later their specialty cucumber margarita, even tastier! They stocked my favorite tequila as well!! I was very very very happy. Shaun took my birthday from dismal to fabulous. Although we were the last table of the night we received perfect service and perfectly executed food and drinks. I will always eat at Atlas when I visit Pensacola. Good service and good food is hard to find!! If I could give a bonus star, I would! Shaun is awesome!!

The food is delicious and I was tempted to ask for more sweet potato planks. Yum! Just be wary of where you sit. If you are by the front windows, make sure your husband/boyfriend/fiancé face in because the teeny-bopper hostesses often forget that there is a window not a wall and short skirts and wind don't mix. Otherwise our meal was very pleasant.

Visited the Atlas with my wife and daughter and was not disappointed, we sat outside with a great view and had a great dinner. The three of us had two specialty steamers that consisted of mussels, crab, shrimp, and crab. The steamed seafood was great, as was the gouda cheese grits. The collard greens were a bit sweet (the waitress warned us in advance) and I am unsure if I liked them or not. The only part of my order I did not care for was the calamari. They recently changed their recipe and now has heavy batter. The batter is very thick and overwhelms the squid. We ate half and picked the breaking off most of what we ate. I am not a fan. Service was excellent and we were attended to by a very friendly waitress. I will definitely make it a regular stop when I visit. Lastly, Mondays are oyster night with very inexpensive oyster specials and on Tuesdays sushi is half price.

I had the Shrimp Po Boy with the Smoked Gouda Grits. Both were great. They did not skimp on the shrimp. The place was packed so service was expectedly slow. Overall a great meal.

I know this place is owned by the fish house or vice versa. However, my last visit here, I decided to eat at the Atlas house. The oysters were off the chain. I wish you get 2 dozen for the price of the 1 dozen though. Raw oysters were fresh and finger licking good. Environment is similar to the Fish House. You can actually order some of he same foods off the Atlas menu that is own the fish house menu. Hostesses working there are young and hot. However they are professional. Our waiter was a bit talkative, but not distracting. I would suggest taking a date here for the environment and the food. Highly recommend it!

The Atlas Oyster House used to serve up the best oysters in all of Pensacola. They used to have two or three oyster shuckers with rolled up sleeves working in plain view of all the patrons and guests. If you pulled up to the bar and ordered a beer, one of the shuckers might slide you a freshly shucked oyster and say 'Try this - it's on me'. And it would be awesome. And I'd order a dozen. Or two! They used to have other great entrees like fresh steamed snowcrab legs. I could eat three orders worth! And you used to be able to cross-order any menu item from the FishHouse kitchen next door like sushi, soul rolls or ginger chicken. And their bartenders & servers were simply the best. The bartenders used to keep a small selection of awesome beers that weren't on the regular menu. And they'd tell you about them when the night got late and things had slowed down. It was a real treat - something to look forward to - another reason to go there. Like the oysters and the crab legs. The place was awesome - until things changed. It's like the Atlas Oyster House doesn't even want to be in the oyster business anymore. What's with that? Wasn't that their original claim and rise to fame? Why stop doing that which is your namesake - that which made you great? I don't get it. And why do I have to put up with an 'attitude' from a 'hostess' of all people? All I want to do is sit down. Ya know what I'm saying? And why do I have to put up with another 'attitude' when I ask for something off the FishHouse menu which was so easy to do before? And why do I get an 'attitude' when I order a drink from the bar? Oh well --- there's plenty of other places to go.

For a place that seems really popular and always crowded, it's just okay. It's essentially a bar that serves food. Bar food to begin with is questionable, but a bar that serves sushi raises a red flag for me. I came here with a friend as we were driving through Pensacola. We had brunch there. I had the Emerald Coast Eggs Benedict, which kind of disappointed me. There was not enough sauces and the eggs weren't runny enough. The strawberry lemonade isn't made fresh, it's basically minute-maid lemonade with strawberry flavoring. One highlight was that instead of bread at the table you get beignet bites which were good but not as good as Cafe du Monde. A decent place to eat if you're in the area, but not a place worth going to just so you can go to it.

Do not eat here without ordering the Ya-ya Grits! What an amazing dish! The grilled shrimp were very fresh & tasty. The grits were dynamite.

Amazing food!! We went for Sunday brunch. Service was fast and no complaints about the food. I indulged in the monte cristo.. Sweet and savory. My husband had the pecan crusted shrimp platter! Yummy!! Best shrimp he had in a long time. Recommend the Mac and cheese for a side or the Gouda grits.

  • Meghan S.

Very relaxing outdoor seating (highly recommend) and fast service. We had a house salad which was fresh and flavorful (delicious dressing) and the house special shrimp and grits (don't really remember what they called them). By far the best shrimp and grits I have ever had and I need to figure out how to make something like this at home. The grits were wonderfully gouda cheesy with just the right amount of saltiness and the shrimp were perfectly cooked and an amazing mixture with a scoop of the grits. We also go the chocolate cheesecake which was way too rich for my liking but my boyfriend enjoyed it. Definitely recommend giving this place a shot if you are in town.

  • Kirstie S.

My husband was blown away by the shrimp that was stuffed with crab and wrapped in bacon! The gouda cheese grits were also outstanding!! I had the burger (not a seafood fan here) and it was very tasty! A weird texture, shredded beef formed into a patty, but delicious nonetheless!

Based on a couple of reviews, I decided to make a stop here to try their oysters. This location was on my way to the hotel and was easy to find. The Atlas Fish House and Oyster Bar are in the same location and next door from each other. There were lots of parking in front and across the street from their location. I arrived there around dinner and it was a little crowded. If you are there with a few people, you can bypass the wait and sit at the bar. Monday nights are twenty-five cents per oyster, only for the first dozen. It's $10 after that. The oysters tasted fresh. My only complaint was tasting sand or something graining when eating some of them. Maybe they should rinse the oysters after being shucked.

Expensive dive bar, and not a very good one. Pouring crappy beer and serving small portions of deep fried junk.

We were down for a quick trip to the beach and we're ready for a good seafood meal. The food was very tasty! Buuuut..... The service was lacking. Over 40 minutes to get our food (and yes, we were a large party of 11). The icing on the cake was asking two different employees to find our waiter and they looked me in the face and walked by. I felt I was in the twilight zone. The cute hostess, looked down her nose and kept doing what she was doing. I have been a waitress and I am not picky. This pissed me off.

Great sushi, great drinks, and even better service! If you're looking for some tasty sushi and on a budget, check this place out in Tuesday's when it has a 'Half off Sushi' special! The service you'll receive is phenomenal and the ambiance will make you feel like you live a lavish lifestyle heehee!

I am literally writing this review WITH A STOMACHACHE while sitting in the passenger seat as my best friend is driving us home. We were in the area after attending a symphony which ended at 10 PM and there weren't many restaurants nearby whose kitchen would still be open by the time we got out. I called ahead of time and asked them what time their kitchen closed and the hostess kindly informed me that the kitchen closes at 11 PM for dinner but after that they have a late night menu which isn't as extensive as their regular dinner menu. There were five choices on the late night menu. The hostess was helpful in reading the short menu to me over the phone since it wasn't on their website. We started off with Sautéed Crab Claws and half a dozen of Oysters on the Half Shell. I had the signature Grits À Ya Ya while my friend had the New York Strip (because they were out of Ribeye). Sautéed Crab Claws: Maybe crabs aren't in season because these blue crab claws were extra small. The sauce however was fairly good. Oysters on the Half Shell: Good thing we only ordered half a dozen. I asked the waitress before we ordered the oysters "Are they big?" She told me they were but they weren't. Was she trying to lie to me to get my to order them anyways? Anyways, the first oyster I ate was grainy. They should rinse the oysters after they shuck them. The second oyster I ate made it clear that their oysters were salty. Dude, we're right on the Gulf of Mexico! Gulf oysters aren't salty! We both ate two oysters each and gave up one the last two. Grits À Ya Ya: The 8-10 shrimps on this entree were small. I would imagine that their signature dish is made with bigger, juicier, jumbo shrimps. I wouldn't care if I get less shrimps if they are bigger in size. The grits were okay, not bad, I've just had better elsewhere. This dish is huge! There's way more grits than measly shrimp proportion. New York Strip: Usually we prefer Ribeye over New York Strip, but unfortunately they ran out of Ribeye. The strip was cooked to perfection (medium rare). YAY! It was tasteless and tough. NAY. Service was excellent. Gina came by a few times to check up on us and to refill our iced teas. Now I'm home and on the toilet with the runs. Thanks.

Raw oysters are on point! We could've eaten 100 of those. Monday is .25 cent oysters. Tuesday is half price sushi night. That makes a huge difference for a party of 6 with 3 kids that shovel down sushi so fast, I'm not sure they chew it. Food is good. I enjoy the Grits A Ya Ya, but I wish they were a little more generous with the sauce, because THAT is the goodness!! Calamari is good and tender. Place smells like spilled beer, but, as long as the food is good, I can overlook that. Enjoyable meal.

The atmosphere and culture are great! The service, especially our waitress Celine, was excellent. Very knowledgable about local seafood and wines. The fish tacos were amazing but the grouper in a banana leaf, which sounded great, had no flavor at all. Creative salads though. Great place to dine outside.

I visited last night and we enjoyed great food and service. We started off with the classic oysters on the half shell. The oysters were gulf oysters with lemon and hot sauce. The sauce was a brand I didn't recognize with a slightly smoky flavor. The oysters were fresh and flavorful ($10/doz). I ordered the lemon pepper snapper with the cheese grits and asparagus. The snapper was perfectly grilled, the Gouda grits rich, and asparagus crisp cooked. ($25) The dinner was perfect. Exactly what I was expecting from a seafood restaurant on the Gulf. We shared a slice of Key Lime pie to end the dinner. Atlas puts a meringue top on the rich lime custard, very good. ($6) One surprising thing I ordered was the white Sangria. It was really good, but one drink felt like 3! There must be vodka in the mix! I've never felt like that after a standard wine mix! ($8) Definitely the place to go to when visiting Pensacola.

Took my family on a road trip and stopped by Pensacola. Asked the hotel staff what she would recommend for dinner (local, good, and family friendly). She recommended the Fish House and it had a long wait the lady said to go next door to atlas. It's owned by the same folks and share the same menu. I thought they were trying to shove my larger family to the uncool spot. Boy was I wrong. The food at Atlas was incredible. I had the po boy. Wife had oysters. The teens had shrimp basket and steak. It was all delicious. We topped it off with their Key Lime pie and Bread pudding. To die for. Really better than 5 star places. We will make it back. And that's a promise

Just walked in with a table for 9. We sat down for 20 min, clearly looking around waiting for service. No menus were handed to us, no utensils, and no one approached us. 2 tables were sat after us and served before. We finally decided to walk out.

Oh come on!!! After leaving that thankless loser bartender at "hub Stacey's" I have found a great retreat here ! Super friendly service. Great sandwiches. A fish sandwich. (No fish sandwiches at hubs ). Best place by far. Good bye hub Stacey's hello atlas!!!!!! Food was the best. Get the grits on the side.

This place was amazing. The service was excellent and the food all around was great. I've become obsessed with Grits and Ya Ya. Never had it before so nothing to compare it to but out was amazing none the less and I'm totally obsessed with it now.

There isn't anything really different between this place and its neighbor Fish House. It tends to get really crowded and has a bit of a tourist trap feel to it to include the prices compared to other seafood restaurants in the area. That being said the food was good, service slow and it seemed the front of the house staff really didn't like their job much.

It's a monolith looming large on the downtown Pensacola waterfront. In evenings, it's almost impossible not to end up there with a large wrap around outdoor dockside bar twanging live music and two, large popular restaurants that serve southern and seafood. I hear the Grits Ya Ya are legendary. We walked up to the literal fork in the restaurant "Eeny, meeny, miny, moe" and chose Atlas randomly. Both restaurants have almost the same menu, I guess Atlas just sounded more pretentious. The menu is diverse. Sushi, Oysters, Southern, and Seafood and we went with a random cornucopia of menu options to get the full Atlas effect, minus the famous, saucy Grits Ya Ya as neither of us (Damn Yankees!) care for grits. All four of our dishes awkwardly came out at the same time despite the type of dish or our request to hold some back. MoMA Salad - " Crisp bacon and caramelized pears on fresh spring greens tossed with a roasted-walnut, spinach, Gorgonzola, and herb vinaigrette" A massacre of sorts. The salad was attacked by the bacon bits and the few greens drowned by the dressing. The greens sadly wilted under the weight of the dressing. The caramelized pears weren't sliced or really caramelized for that matter but rather (I think) canned pears placed unceremoniously to the side. More greens, less salad dressing, bacon and walnuts, better, well actual presentation and the MoMA would be a bang up "Yum Yum" salad. Bulgarian Roll (Dan's choice) - "Smoked beef tenderloin, shrimp, green onions, and Gorgonzola rolled in a soy sheet, topped with raw tuna, Rim Sauce, and eel sauce." Sushi is not for the faint of heart, but it is at Atlas. I'd say 80 percent or more of the rolls have cooked fish or shrimp which are great for novice or virgin sushi eaters and this roll is a perfect starter roll. But for these two experienced sushi eaters accustomed to fresh, raw fish, the Bulgarian made for a weird, warm mix in roll form. Final answer, steak belongs on a plate with potatoes as its side, not rolled up with a sharp, salty cheese in rice. Mussels in Blue Moon - "black mussels steamed in Blue Moon beer, onion, celery, and fennel. Finished with grape tomatoes, mandarin orange, and fresh herbs" Wonderful. Just wonderful. Lots of citrusy broth left over. Gumbo - "Seafood gumbo made in the New Orleans style -- fresh fish, shrimp, and crab" Atlas should be ashamed for false advertising. The gumbo wasn't a soup, it was a stew. And I'm by no means exaggerating; Dan took his three bites with his fork. I took three bites and we both unreservedly agreed it wasn't worth eating. It was too thick, there were bits of shrimp shell still on the shrimp and picking out the miniscule bits of fish or crab just wasn't worth the effort. Maybe oysters are the strong point for Atlas; they certainly looked amazing on platters and plates slimily on their way to other tables and I'm sure Atlas is a good restaurant. I'm also sure the menu is hit or miss. Just this night, there were more misses than hits which never really instills "Y'all Come Back Ya Hear" confidence in my dining book.

Monday night is $.25 oyster night! Unfortunately, you can only order one dozen per person:( It's understandable.

The grits and ya ya are amazing!!!! Best grits I have ever had I am usually not a grit fan but it is one of their signature dishes and it's amazing!!! The drinks were good and it was a good atmosphere. It was nice so we set out side and had a nice view of the marina.

Great meal! Great service! The "grits-a-ya ya" we're as divine as the waitress said they were and I believe I had the best Bloody Mary I have ever had here this morning for brunch.

recently visited the fish house and dared to try the oyster house, Big mistake ordered the bacon wrapped shrimp. let's just say not everything is better with bacon, potatoes were nice but was all on my part. wife ordered the clams with mussels and crab, let's just say that eating discolored crab is not appealing. as for the grilled veggies. nice grill makes but YOU SHOULD MAKE SURE IT IS COOKED THROUGH!!!!!!!! would I go back again with all the great seafood on the coast. not only NO but HELL NO.

We intended to eat at Atlas for their half-price sushi, but the wait was too long. The hostess told us the same menu was available at the Fish House, but of course it's not half-price. The best item we tried was the fried oysters and shrimp. They were large, plump, and not fried to dry oblivion. They did not seem to be pre-made, frozen items. The corn fritters gave us flashbacks to elementary school. Anyone over 35 should remember the fried corn sticks served in the cafeteria--a little log of creamed corn. We were expecting more of an upscale (ha) hush puppy than a Schwann's frozen side dish. The crab claws were fairly flavorless but passable. The house specialty, shrimp & grits ya-ya, was like wallpaper paste. Took two bites and didn't touch the rest. The server, who was cheerful, disappeared after the meals were delivered and returned to clear and drop the bill. She didn't comment on the full plate she removed. Don't order the signature mixed drinks--very watery, insipid, and definitely not worth their markup. The whole restaurant is overpriced for the level of food and service. The drunk, cursing guy at the table across from our family did not add to the atmosphere. I debated between two and three stars. Given the other choices in Pensacola, it may be a three. Why is it so hard to get quality seafood here?

Grits a ya ya. Only visible fish was shrimp. The other seafood supposedly in the sauce. Pecan crusted?? Not a pecan in sight. Corn fritters equal corn flavored fried breading, not pancake style with corn throughout. Only Pepsi products. However a couple of bright lights in the dismal experience. They have a nice aquarium and our waitress Chrissy was great.

I typically go for the 1/2 priced sushi on Tuesday. The place is pretty large but still gets very busy. Beer is 2 dollars as well. On Wednesday they have lady's night with a you call it special. Oysters are very good here and I can't complain about anything I have had.

If you are looking for a place to be ignored this is it. Walked in looking for a nice fish dinner. Was greeted warmly and seated outside on the deck. A few tables were already occupied. Sat there and thoroughly looked through the menu twice while two servers and the apparent manager chatted it up behind the wait station. No one ever came by the table. Made eye contact with the manager a couple of times but he continued his conversation. After 15 minutes of being ignored we got up and left. Only then did the manager come over as we were walking out, saying he just now noticed us and offered us something on the house. Too late. Will never go back here.

Great location, good food! Ambiance- What a fabulous, romantic spot. We sat outside because they have such amazing seating on the deck. However, i almost regretted it because it is so dang hot in Pensacola! Food- We ordered the Appalachicola oysters on the half shell, YUM. Steamed mussels in Blue Moon, YUM! A bowl of Gumbo, YUM. Neither of us were too impressed with our entrees (Creole mahi and Teriyaki seared tuna). Beverages- Stay away from their sangria. it really is a shame. I would absolutely love to come back to this place. But i know not to order the Sangria.

We have enjoyed this place in the past but it just gets worse and dramatically so this time around. This is probably the last time. We were seated in a hallway next to the booth in the Acme side which required every passer to bump us or turn sideways. No silverware on the table, one water brought to our table of four. Waitress didn't know anything about menu or drafts on tap. Salad brought out after dinner was delivered. Grits were dry and lumpy. Bill was incorrect and included extra beers at the tail of the list.

Be aware that the Yelp directions take you down by Jaco's, so look for the Fish House- same building (across the deep water dock from Jaco's and the marina). Stopped in at noon on Sunday, place was buzzing! If you don't have reservations you will have to wait, possibly up to 20 minutes. We got lucky and were seated in about 5 mins. Outside overlooking the small marina is a choice spot. I had a dozen raw, mussels in blue moon, Cajun blackened grouper sandwich ($5 upcharge for substituting fish) which I deconstructed. :) All the food was great- the oysters were a good size, the mussels were absolutely excellent, the grouper was nicely blackened. The grits were a little more al dente than I prefer, but tasty. My wife was pleased with the Edamome and tuna roll. The service was prompt, efficient and most importantly, warm. A manager did visit with us also to check on things. If you are looking for a relaxing atmosphere with first-rate dining, this is the place. I will be sure to come back on future visits!

My friend and I went here on a Tuesday for their half price sushi night. Overall a good experience. I'm still a sushi newbie, but it was good. First, a warning, Tuesdays are *really* busy there. Be prepared to wait a while for a table. We waited probably 45 minutes before seating inside for first available (outside was a longer wait). Our table was under an A/C condenser line and I was getting water dripped down on me. I mentioned to our waiter, but got a "Oh yeah we know about it, but nothing we can do." The wine list was excellent and we both enjoyed a good glass in the $6 range. For an appetizer, we shared the crunchy scallops ($7). I'm admittedly not a scallop fan, but my friend liked them. Our dinner was a mixed bag. I had a volcano roll ($5) which was very good. My friend had the tuna nigirzushi ($6) which didn't fare as well. The tuna was cut pretty sloppily and fell off the rice when bitten into. Regardless, we got dinner with two glasses of wine and an appetizer for ~30 plus tip. That's a tremendous value and I can see why Tuesdays are packed.

Meh. Came here for half-price sushi; I now see why it's half price. I guess in Pensacola sushi means rolls. It was bland and uninspired. I even tried the chef's 'special'. Very dull. Waitress was nice, but got my drink order totally wrong (I guess, "Yuengling" sounds like, "Bud Lite") Waited for 5-6 mins..she never came back, so I went to the bar to correct it. When she did arrive with my food, she asked about the beer and apologized. That would have been enough to make up if I ever saw her again. Went to the bar, got my tab, paid, and I was "outta there." Nice location by the water. Clean place. Very expensive for what it is.

I always really enjoy this place. We normally go on Tuesday nights for half-price sushi, which is a great deal and a lot of fun. At least on Tuesday nights there are generally more locals than tourists which speaks to the quality of the restaurant. I also love getting raw oysters there and generally when I ask they come from Appalachicola, which in my opinion has this best oysters of anywhere.

I had the crab cake topped with sweet potato hay. Sides were fried green tomatoes and cheese grits. Started off with two appetizers: Oysters Arcadia and fried ravioli stuffed with andouille sausage. Salad was wedge of iceberg lettuce with blue cheese dressing. The food was so delicious! The atmosphere is comfortable. The waiter was very attentive. I tried 3 different Chardonnays and all were yummy. If you're going to go all out here, expect to pay. But I think it's worth it. I'll definitely go again! Maybe next time I'll try the sushi :)

our waitress dropped my ice tea on the table giving me an iced tea bath. Our friend ordered a double for a drink but the waitress brought a tall glass instead, she took it back to replace with a true double but we all could not help but think she just poured part of that other drink into a smaller glass. We had to pick out our meals when they came she didn't know or write down who ordered what, it was a confusing mess of a meal for what we paid for.

Really impressed! I mean, it's owned by Great Southern Restaurant Group, so I was expecting it to be good and I was not disappointed. Hubby and I stopped here for brunch one Sunday before our show at the Pensacola Little Theatre. Bloody Mary's and Mimosas for $2 (but I would get the bottomless champagne for $4 and then get a carafe of orange juice if you want mimosas). The bloody mary's were superb. Hubby got his spicy and I ordered one after my mimosa. They use really nice, big, tasty olives! We ordered a sampler of 6 baked oysters and all of them were amazing. Really good! I ordered regular eggs benedict and hubby ordered the crab cake eggs benedict. We split them and I was so happy with both of them! I could cut the ham with a fork (yay! no sawing with a knife on overdone ham) and the crab cake was all crab. Hardly any filler, and the crab was nice and tender. The eggs on mine were a little overdone (no runny yolks), but hardly worth mentioning because everything else was so good. Their cheese grits were AWESOME. I am not a grits fan and I don't think the gouda cheese grits next door are that fabulous. These were a slightly different version and both hubby and I cleaned our plates. Oh... and the total for our meal?? With 4 drinks, an appetizer and 2 breakfasts? Less than $40! We will definitely be back! I love the Fish House, but this may become our new favorite downtown.

The Atlas has a great view of the bay as well as having good ambience and live music . The waiter did a great job too . Prices seem to be pretty reasonable as well . The shrimp sandwich I had was a good deal for about $10.

The sweet tea was the ONLY good thing about this restaurant other then the view. The creme brulee was blah and the food was over priced for the quality it sucked!!!!

This was a huge disappointment. My mahi mahi was old and had a terrible aftertaste and the peaches on the salad had begun to go bad. How the chef didn't catch this before it went out on the floor shows his incompetence.

I had the Sushi and fried calamari and yes mmm, mmm good. Seating choices are either indoors and outdoors with outdoor being right on the wharf. Not to mention $2 drinks for (Wednesday night) ladies night, wooooohoooooooo!!!!!. By the way the live band and music were good and definitely a plus.

Chewy crab claws. Nothing taste fresh. Very unimpressed. Will not go back. I think they gave up on quality for quantity?

Not a bad place to drop in, grab a seat at the bar, down a couple dozen half shell oysters, have an import or nice glass of wine and flirt with all the pretty girls. Don't miss the MOMA salad, but avoid the sushi that comes from the shared sushi bar over at fish house. Terrible sushi with tiny portions of fish. Really surprising.

We arrived on a weekend night and it was busy, the mater D' said the Atlas was as good and we tried it despite my wants to try the Fish House. The wait was short and the waiter was prompt BUT he spilled the wine on my friend and continued to ask for the orders. The catch of the day was TILAPIA? On the Gulf of Mexico? We ordered our dinner and the portions were small and disgusting. DO NOT GO HERE... IT was a disgusting experience, Do not believe the wait staff.. I will not even try the Fish House now... I AM a local too.. Go to Triggers near the Island much better...

Loved this place. It's been awhile since I've ate there but everything I ate I loved. The oysters didn't seen to have much "meat" in them but everything else was great. And the fact that they have fried green tomatoes is a big plus for me.

My fiancé and I stopped here for lunch on the way to New Orleans. We had eggs Benedict and the garden omelet. Great food overlooking the water. Many people stopped in for brunch after Palm Sunday. The bottomless champagne was the icing on the cake!

I had a wonderful brunch at Atlas this past Sunday with three of my friends. The beignets that they bring out for your table were delicious. We also shared the Emerald Coast Benedict and the Bananas Foster French Toast along with bottomless mimosas. Everything was very good and we would definitely go back again.

Atlas is a great sushi bar here in Pensacola. They offer a variety of other menu items, including a full selection of seafood, but the real beauty of Atlas is their Tuesday night HALF PRICE sushi!!! We literally walked out of the restaurant for $20 for a full sushi dinner. You have to try it!

    (5)
  • Tyng L.

I will go back only for the Tuesday half price sushi night. Mind you it is half price off the Menu so most rolls are $4-$5 only. You can stuff yourself pretty good with just around $15! The appetizer are regular price though, if you care not careful that can add up to your bill like what happened to us. We waited close to 45 minutes when we were told it was going to be a 20 mins wait so that was unpleasant. The Fish House next door had immedicate seating but the half price sushi was only at the Atlas i guess.

We decided to try the Atlas because we were tired of all the touristy traps on the island. We were drawn here for the oysters. Pleasantly surprised to find oysters for $0.25 on Sundays, we each had a dozen raw oysters for $3. This was pure luck on our part since this was not advertised anywhere on the menu. That's where our luck ended with this dining experience. Among our disappointments was that we had to ask to have the table washed when we were seated. Our waitress seemed too busy to handle our table, although the restaurant was nearly empty, and she was not very friendly, which one might expect when in Florida and on vacation. The restaurant staff quickly provided umbrella coverage when it started to sprinkle. We both were swatting bugs away throughout our meal, which we had not experienced at other restaurants during our Pensacola vacation. We shared a seafood sampler with king crab, shrimp and mussels. The mussels were dry and overcooked. The hushpuppies were burnt and not moist or sweet like hushpuppies should be. This dining experience was a disappointment. For being nearly a $100 meal for two people, this should have been a much more pleasant experience. This restaurant had mediocre food, haughty service and high prices. We definitely do not recommend this restaurant.
