Excellent fresh shrimp and catfish! Coleslaw was equally as good. Our first time here passing through and loved the food and friendly wait staff. Double thumbs up!

Meh. This place doesn't really stand out when I think of seafood. Came here with high extractions and given average results. The service was descent, the food quality was poor, and the restaurant was filled with screaming children. I'd recommend to come here if you're looking to binge eat and don't have a large budget. If you're really looking for killer seafood and you have enough $$$ then head over to The Fish House... That place is amazing!

Came to Pensacola to meet a dog breeder from texas for our pup. We wanted to find something close by but also not a chain restarurant. And I wanted seafood :) So le beau and I stopped here for a bite to eat before we meet our pup. I ordered blackened catfish po boy with a side of their stuffed crab and shrimp skewer. Which was very good and filling. I ended up eating half of the sandwich and only the fish from the other half. Fresh and not fishy tasting as well. The stuff crab was okay nothing special and perfectly flavored and not overly salty. The shrimp skewer was delicious though. Shrimp is super fresh tastes like it just came from the water and seasoned very well and not overcooked. The size of the shrimp were good too they weren't tiny how some restaurants serve. Le beau ordered the fried shrimp po boy and it was good. Basic bo boy nothing special. Came with a good amount of shrimp as well. You can also double protein for extra price but not by much I think like 2$. Also we ordered raw oysters for appetizers fairly good price for a dozen. They shuck it for you and take it off the sticky thing (I dont know what its called). So easy slurping. They were very fresh not briney (although I like the briney ones, more flavor). Overall they were a great place for quick eats. Nothing fancy.

Little leery of a chain going into it, but we were tired and didn't want to dress up for dinner. We really were pretty happy--the oysters were good, he liked his catfish and the gumbo was really good. Service, tho'? A little sketchy. He brought one thing that I hadn't ordered instead of what I had ordered, and completely forgot my okra side and dish of lemons--when I pointed that out to him, he put the order it, but hey, hon, we're done now, why would I want it now. He simply had no personality at all, but hey, the food was OK.

I ordered the Steamed Shrimp and it was rubbery and seemed old. The wife had a POBOY that she said was good. The service was fine.

Terrible service like a lot of others have said. Nothing special about the place. Got the grilled shrimp basket and I got one small fritter and one hush puppy. Lot of better places for seafood.

I can't see any reason why I should give this place less than 5 stars. I've been to Shrimp Basket at another location, but this one takes the prize. Food was not too salty, tasted great, and wasn't burnt in any way. Customer service is stellar! Either the manager or owner was awesome, friendly and cared for his customers. Will be back again and again!

The food was ok, but the service was horrible! First the waiter forgot to bring the sauces after saying he will bring them back right away, I can understand if you forget but for the rest of the time he didn't came by the table to see if everything was ok or to check to make sure if we got everything, I tried to make eye contact with him but he never came by, eventually I had to wave my hands like I was in elementary school until he came by

The service was slow, but we had a rather large group, so I am willing to let that slide. The food was excellent, especially the crab claws and okra. I would certainly love to come back, and would recommend it to all of my friends.

First visit, gets really busy at lunch. Small but nice place. Friendly staff. I only had a dozen raw and some hush puppies so kinda hard to comment much on the food but as for the oysters, the guy at the bar stood there and shucked them in front of me. They were cold and clean and oh so tasty! The hush puppies were tasty, too. We'll seasoned. The plates I saw go by looked very good. Can't wait to go back and try some more stuff.

Stopped here after the baseball game on the way up to Alabama. Ordered the "pick 3" combo and chose fish, shrimp and scallops. It came with hush puppies and fries as well as their shrimp coleslaw. Total was just over $17.00. Food was really good! It was a tad skimp though for the price. It filled me up but it comes with 5 or so scallops, 5 or so shrimp and 3 small pieces of fish. Its way better than a fast food type seafood place but not as good as a nice sit down restaurant. The food was about 3 stars. The 4 stars is because of the service. I am truly amazed at how nice everyone down South is. My waitress had a huge smile on her face the whole time there. She kept checking on me and genuinely cared that I enjoyed my meal. She even offered up a to go cup for a soda when I was about to leave. (I have noticed that a few times now....they love to offer to go cups down here which is freaking awesome!) She was as nice as can be and made the whole time I was there enjoyable!

The shrimp tacos were yummy! The corn fritters and hush puppies were as they should be--great! The sweet tea was just right. My husband loved the okra, a childhood favorite . Our server was the best--knowledgeable and content which makes for pleasurable experience . The seafood was fresh and the outside dining was a plus for us!

Had a blackened fish Po Boy and hush puppies...YUM! We went in the middle of the afternoon so wasn't real crowded. They have a nice patio and I liked the mist blowers which kept it comfortable even in the middle of a July afternoon. It does allow smokers on the patio which is perfect for me, but others might want to be aware if you don't like cigarette smoke. Service was a little slow for how empty the place was, but other than that, really had a great meal. Will definitely be coming back.

The food is always very good, especially the fried shrimp. Sometimes the servers do match the quality of the food. Very indifferent service but, of course, the tip or lack thereof usually takes care of that problem.

We loved the food! Got 1/2 LB blackened shrimp app and 2 shrimp-n-whitefish basket. The tarter sauce is so good. They have very small julienne slices of carrot and dill in it, very good. The cole slaw was good as well, not too much mayo, little bit of sweetness with tiny salad shrimp in it. Will definitely visit when we come through next time.

For the quality and quantity of seafood you get, it is very over priced. There are far better seafood restaurants in Pensacola.

Shrimp platter and Shrimp skewers were delicious, as were the hush puppies. Our waitress was very sweet. Low key, come as you are atmosphere.

I've been here probably 10 times in the last several years, but I hadn't been in the past couple of years. I honestly was never impressed and my mother insisted that I never again take her there after chemotherapy when we had a particularly bad server one visit. Some friends insisted that my memories were faulty and I am semi-glad that I listened to them. Better service, better food, but the beer is freaking expensive. The menu price for food isn't cheap either, so figure out the nights when they have specials or expect to pay nearly $20 a person if they (or you) have 2-3 beers and a main dish. I had the basket of fried white fish, with fries and the "shrimp cole slaw." The fries were few...seriously, this is almost a freebie, so throw some more in there. I will stipulate to the fact that the fries were hot and crispy, but there weren't that many of them. The cole slaw was probably the best that I have ever had, but the inclusion of the shrimp bits had nothing to do with that superlative...even when I speared a chunk and nibbled on it, there was no shrimp flavor. I especially liked that the slaw was neither too sweet nor too vinegary, but rather it was creamy and light. The fish was perfect, whatever species it was. I got 4-5 pieces, which I thought was paltry for the $9.99 cost, but I am a frugal chomper, apparently. My friends acted like I was pooping in a punch bowl when I mentioned that. It was fish...fish is cheap, or used to be. Then again, I remember 5-cent wing nights. Thirty years ago, but whatever. I'll go back for the $7.99 AYCE fish and/or shrimp (according to my friends), but I'm not wild about a $10 base-price lunch. Still, if you toil for treasure and have the $, it's good food.

was perfect for what i wanted at that time : deep fried popcorn shrimp, deep fried cornballs, and strong liquor drinks. if i am ever forced to drive through Pensacola again, i will certainly return.

wow. color-me-clueless... AGAIN because I don't get this place at all. First off I guess I didn't really know that this food was more on the "fast-food" end of the the food spectrum than a sit-down dining experience. This place is dark, creepy and kind of seedy for some reason. ATMOSPHERE: not. SERVICE: how one skinny girl could manage what seemed like a ga-jillion tables was a marvel. And the manager per protocol, trolled around asking about your meal. So um, yay for customer caring.... which is good, but not delicious enough to eat! FOOD: Some yelps like the food, some not. I am of the later: not impressed. It's cheap, but cheap quality too. And you don't get a lot. On the "all-you-can-eat" peeled shrimp, you get about 9-10 puny boiled shrimps on a plate. I actually felt bad asking for 2 more servings, even though I didn't think I would be judged for doing so on a promo. That's "bad form." THINK AGAIN...? I think this chain has mastered the business plan of how to "sneak" stuff onto your bill. Asking if you want a refill on your somewhat tasteless side dish,( which is a small less that one cup serving at about $3.00 a buck a pop.)No biggie, right? Well that's $12.00 on a four-top. Summing up: I would rather pay more for more and get less--- People line up for this place at peak times and I suppose as far as sea food goes it's "cheap." But sometimes cheap is well, kinda cheap. I am outta there.

Good place for a quick meal. Love the Shrimp Basket in Gulf Shoreside! This one is missing the water.

I love the shrimp. But the grilled catfish is wonderful. I have tried many places, this one is the best. The shrimp basket is an awesome dinner. Great service.

My fried shrimp was delish! My cabbage not so much. I has also picked up some grilled fish and shrimp for a friend. He said it was really good too. The only complaint I have is I thought the portions were small for the price. But the taste made it alright ...

I still can't believe how far I drove for some southern food and crawfish. I was staying on Pensacola Beach but REALLY wanted crawfish. I pulled up my Yelp app and had such a hard time finding places that had crawfish dishes. Yelp did not do me wrong with this place though! For my family, I ordered fried crawfish, crawfish etoufee, corn fritters, grilled shrimp, blackened fish, and fried onion rings. Everything was really good. I was really disappointed by the small amount of rice I received for the etoufee. I got like 3 times the amount of etoufee than the rice. Very disproportionate which stunk because that broth was amazing. While I don't think I would drive so far again and get stuck in terrible traffic, I would definitely come back if in the area.

Will never eat here again...not cause the food wasn't good...not because of the wait staff cause there were super nice....why...cause the manager seemed to me to be a bit racist....walked around to every single table asking folks how their meals were EXCEPT for the 3 tables with black families....give me a frik'n break, this is 2014!

Wow!!! The special today was an add on of crab claws/ blackened, grilled or fried. I had the fried version. YUMMY!! The corn fritters that came with the meal were just fabulous. The fried shrimp basket that was my main course was probably the BEST fried shrimp I've ever had and their homemade tarter sauce just topped the meal. Great southern sweet tea to. We were too full to try any dessert so we will just have to come back! We will be back!!!

WHAT WE ORDERED: the whitefish platter w/a side of angel hair pasta and the bama roasted red pepper sauce (which we wanted to try after seeing another yelper rave about it). Also got the fried coconut shrimp with a side of cole slaw. The cole slaw with shrimp was really unique, a thumbs up. The blackened whitefish was good but a bit salty, and comes seasoned with tons of garlic. The coconut flavor really stood out in the coconut shrimp. Also, we didn't particularly like the sweet dipping sauce that came with it. The red pepper sauce was good but not out-of-this-world, a bit of a disappointment. We preferred the fried shrimp (which someone else at our table got) over the coconut shrimp. The hush puppies were our favorite. It felt like a place where the locals hang out, especially on all-you-can-eat Wednesdays and Sundays. Overall: GOOD portions and DECENT FOOD at an AFFORDABLE price ($10-13 range for dinner), but you might want to avoid this place if you're not looking to eat fried food since the best items on the menu are fried.
