While in P'cola a couple weeks ago, I found myself looking for a unique lunch-time dining experience. After a quick look at earlier reviews, I decided on Pensacola Cooks, and glad that I did! This is a classic case of, "don't judge a book by its cover". In fact, after pulling in to the gravel parking lot, and looking at the less-than-upscale building, my co-worker looked at me, like "are you serious?" I assured her that it would be okay. It was way more than okay, it was amazing! Sure, the AC could have been a bit more robust, but once we adjusted to the "warmth" of the small dining area on a hot and muggy May afternoon, we discovered food that was super gourmet, delicious and a great value. I had meatloaf and my guest had the best BLT, ever. The sides were perfect and the homemade berry cobbler was just what we needed. The service was super friendly, as well! I'll be back!!!

Most amazing meal. Pork loin wrapped around sausage and then wrapped in bacon with a mushroom cream sauce and fresh made mash potatoes. All for 9.20$ taste better then a fine restaurants. Can't express enough how great it was.

My wife and I decided to try this place because of the high ratings on yelp. We came and Carol the waitress made us feel right at home. My wife ordered a BLT with homemade chips. I had the meatloaf with cabbage and mashed potatoes. Frank , the cook prepared our lunches. It came out looking more like art than lunch. My wife said its the best BLT she has ever had. I did everything but lick the container on my meatloaf. We came in as first time patrons, but now we are regulars

This place is worthy of "Dinners, Drive-ins, and Dives." We wanted to grab a quick lunch before heading to the Navy airplane museum. This place looks humble, but it is awesome. Most of the limited seating is a long bar around the grill area. Looking over the menu, I had to ask about he Hoosier Tenderloin. What you, a dinner in Florida, know about a Hoosier tenderloin? The cook simply replied, "try me." The sandwich did not disappoint and was worthy of the Indiana State Fair. Later we met the owner of the place, an Indiana native from Bloomington. Also on the menu are Hungarian Langos. I used to teach English in Hungary. Again, I questioned the cook "what do you know about Langos?" Again, the cook replied, "try me." He cooked me up a nice Langos with sour cream and cheese. While not exactly what I remember from the Grand Market in Budapest, but it was still good. He did tell me that they don't have the same types of cheese they have in Hungary. Later we found out that the previous owner was a Hungarian immigrant. Langos was a holdover from the previous menu. Great food! This place will stay on our dinning list for the Pensacola area.

Wow! Doesn't look like much on the outside but boy oh boy is it a taste treat on the inside! Sausage stuffed pork chop to die for. Best mashed potatoes ever. Great meatloaf. Mushroom sauce was wonderful! Loved the Mediterranean pasta salad and the chicken salad was divine. We ordered a BLT although they were out of Langos. Daughter loved it anyway. Staff was friendly and helpful. We had twin toddlers with us and they were ready for naps by the time we arrived but getting to watch the chef took their attention right away! Don't miss this great treat!

A totally casual and really tiny establishment with a lot of very uncommon / creative dishes; this place is an oasis in a seemingly endless ocean of fast-food chains and BBQ joints. Most everything appears to be homemade & handmade; which I really appreciate because its probably a lot of extra work, and keeping quality consistently high must be a difficult task. Generous servings; the BLT, Cuban sandwich and the Pork Schnitzel are loaded with heavy calories but worth the extra time on the treadmill. And you must try the Handmade potato chips (the best I've ever had). The salads looked great too, but I couldn't convince myself to eat healthy because I don't travel down south too often and I wanted to make the most of this opportunity. Many options: Asian, German, Mediterranean, and a few southern-fried staples - all made with fresh ingredients and just one dish at a time. Summary: An inexpensive, flavor-driven menu served by friendly people. Regrets: I wish I had more time to kill in Pensacola.

Small little place, but had a great experience. The cooks were super friendly and the owner even came by to chat with us. Overall atmosphere was laid back and pleasant. Food was amazing. Got the Best Ever BLT and it was the best I've ever had and I don't even really like BLTs. Husband got the Cuban, which he really enjoyed. Our meals came with homemade chips, which were in my opinion the best homemade chips I've had. Nothing was left-gobbled it all up. I like that they get all their ingredients locally and from their own garden in the back. Everything was fresh and well made.

Best BLT I've ever had. Crispy bacon. Fresh lettuce and tomatoes. Just enough mayo. And the fried bread made the sandwich. Yes, fried bread! The chips also has an awesome seasoning. Definitely come hungry. Only open for breakfast and lunch so get there early. I'm definitely going back.

First time eating here. I decided to try their pork adobo, which was over rice and came with the veggie of the day, as well as, a cucumber salad. I paid $9 and some change, which in my opinion is not so bad. Being that I am Filipino and grew up on adobo, I know only the taste that I grew up on. Their adobo wasn't like home, but it wasn't bad either. The cucumber salad was a little strong on the vinegar or rice wine vinegar, but that honestly didn't stop me for devouring it. I was hoping for more of the traditional Japanese flavor. Today's veggies were cooked carrots and they were delicious. Overall, I was satisfied and looking for to trying more on their menu.

I have driven by too many times to count. Last Friday I also drove on past....but then turned around. Good grief....Smoked Pork Tenderloin stuffed with Sausage, little dumplings, and some bowtie noodles. Check the menu for the exact name of the sides. The tenderloin was covered with mushroom sauce/gravy that makes my mouth water just thinking about it. On Monday I headed straight there for lunch...but a little after 1:00 p.m. I had the Schnitzel, with mushroom gravy. So tender and delicious... Had dumplings again. Also some homemade potato chips..regular. They also have sweet potato chips. Nothing out of a bag here. With every entree you get 2 sides. Chef Frank and Chef Keith are PROFESSIONALS for sure. They are SOUS CHEFS, with many YEARS of very eclectic experience. Every person there is super friendly and helpful. If it's your first visit...no worries..they walk you through the routine and make you feel AT HOME. Do yourself a real favor and just STOP HERE TO EAT.....just ONCE..and you will be HOOKED. Next visit, I'm trying the Country Fried Steak...or is it Chicken Fried? Will look at the menu again. For those who may not know...Chicken Fried is with white gravy. Country Fried is with brown gravy. There is no doubt that either one will be fantastic here. If you have company visiting you ....DO NOT FAIL TO TAKE THEM TO EAT HERE. Am I going on too much about how fabulous the food is here? All I can say is...go there..and you will understand completely. Great job guys....BEST FOOD IN PENSACOLA....bar none....and our house is only 10 minutes away. :-)

This place is pretty awesome. It's a nice little mom and pop restaurant that serves really good food at a very reasonable price. We were very happy with the service and we hope to be back very soon!

Decided to try something new in Pensacola and I'm glad I did. I tried the Moco Loco and it was amazingly flavorful. Definitely a place I'd go back to again.

You have to try the potato chips! They're amazing! And the meatloaf is delicious! Excellent service, and they make the food right in front of you. Well worth it!

Just awesome. Reminds me of Freds North Tx. But with Schnitzel. The schnitzel was awesome. The people were top notch working there. I highly recomnend.

I'm so excited that this place is thriving! The food here is delicious. I went in three times to order take out when they first opened. I'm heading back into Pensacola and this place is a must stop for me. Soul food/comfort food needs to be added at the top describing what they serve. You can't get a well cooked, perfectly seasoned meal of this kind anywhere close by. Yes there are delicious eateries all over Pensacola but not serving this type of German inspired soul food! Also the portion sizes here are generous and fill you up.

Fun spot right by base. You can sit at a bar where they make it right in front of you. The meatloaf is to die for, that is if it doesn't kill you first.

Visited this place for the first time today. WOW! If you are in this area this is defiantly a place to Check out! I had the chicken adobo with the daily veggies and it was amazing! I also tried dessert- the poundcake (which the waitress told us was made by her) which was also amazing. The inside of the restaurant itself is small, so may not be good for large groups. Despite this, I like the fact you can watch your food being cooked. If I was a local here I would be a regular!

Best place to get fresh delicious meals created right in front of you! I've had a variety of items from the menu on several occasions and the food is absolutely GOOD & seasoned to perfection. The best BLT is one of my favs along with homemade chips- irresistible... The Filipino food served on Fridays is a real treat - authentic with great flavor. I enjoy the friendly atmosphere. You don't want to miss out on the real deal here. Go check it out on your next lunch break!

Incredible! First time in Pensacola and feeling fortunate to have found a place like this! From the hand-breaded pork schnitzel (right in front of you), to the succulent fresh vegetables, this place never ceased to impress my tastebuds. The lunch menu was quite reasonable, and you can feed 4 people for less than $30. Wow. Wish I could eat here everyday!

My daughter and I were in Pensacola staying at a friend's. We are so glad we went. The food is amazing. Many choices on the menu (even if you eat healthy). The staff are very personable. Service was top notch. We will definitely be back!

This place is so amazing! I went there around brunch time, expecting to get some breakfast, but I was perplexed when I saw the menu. So many items that I wanted to try. Well, we ended up getting several different things to which I was not disappointed. I had their Best Ever BLT, which had your lettuce and tomato plus a GLORIOUS amount of delicious bacon sandwiched in between some yummy crunchy bread. I was surprised at how much bacon they give you...and the size of this thing will ensure you don't go home still hungry. It came with some potato chips that were cooked so nicely and had a great seasoning to it. I seriously should have ordered a second helping of it To Go. We also had their Frosted Flake Crusted French Toast, which was such a unique take on your classic french toast. It had a wonderful sweetness and crunch to it, and it came with a side of syrup so you can make it even sweeter if you like. And last but not least, we shared a plate of biscuits with gravy. Wow, this was phenomenal. I'm picky when it comes to biscuits and gravy, and there are so many ways that restaurants can make their biscuits as well as their gravy sauce. This place had such a unique combination of the two which was not what I expected, but exactly what i wanted and needed in my life this morning. That gravy sauce was so savory, and just the right amount of salt. I don't think there was anything that could've been added to it to make it better. I wanted to also point out that everything was made fresh, from scratch and right in front of us. Aside from the tasty and flavorful food, I must say that the customer service was incredible. The chefs were very friendly and engaging in conversation. They were so interested in our thoughts on their dishes. It was such a wholesome environment. I cannot stress how much of a fan I am of this restaurant in just the first visit that I've made there. I live out of town, and I am already thinking of what I should get next when I come back to Pensacola to visit my family. I admire this place so much, that I was so excited to write this review as soon as I could get to my computer. Their positive reviews are a testimony to the quality of their restaurant. I wish this place much success.

Checked this place out because of all the fantastically reviews. It lived up to the hype. Nick was very welcoming and the food was awesome. I love trying new recipes and this place nailed it. From the bbq pork to the blacked tuna. It was a home run.

Great food & good service for a fair price. We had the S.O.S with mashed potatoes and red cabbage and it was delicious. I'll definitely be returning to try something else off their menu.

Awesome food, friendly staff. Had cabbage rolls and sauerkraut. I'm polish and it impressed me! Hubby had loco moco (sp?) and said it was delicious We will be back next time we are in town!

Amazing food! Great atmosphere. They cook right in front of you and I haven't had anything that wasn't great! Plus the frosted flake French toast is a guilty pleasure. The amount of food is way more than the price so it's a great deal!!!

Small kitchen restaurant. 16 bar stools. Two great chefs making whatever you like. Surprisingly good menu. We had Dijon Steak, Chicken salad, and Loco Moco. Great food.

The breakfast pizza is amazing (although it's not on the menu). Fresh dough, fresh sauce and anything you'd like on top. You won't be disappointed. Everyone says their lunch menu is just as amazing. Staff is always very pleasant.

I have to agree with the other reviewers, the food is delicious. I'm 1/2 Hungarian, and have lived in Germany, so I was pleasantly surprised to find the schnitzel and spatzle, delicious. I even tried a small sample of their chicken adobe and it was amazing. Very cozy, and you feel like you're being cooked for by a family member with a loving handle on yummy food!

My wife and I returned after a few weeks. She had the BLT- which was just as good as the first time. I tried the hamburger cooked well. It was large, cooked to order, juicy, and served on a fried bread bun. The meat used was half beef, half pork. The burger tasted excellent! The burger and a side of cucumber salad (or chips fried right in front of you) costs $8.95. We have decided that this is a great place for an honest, quality, meal at a very reasonable price. Yes, their menu is limited, but that helps them cut costs, and they are very good at what they do. They're now using plates rather than the take-out trays we were given during our last visit. Frank, the chef, enjoys talking with his guests- who are only feet away. Their hours of operation are a bit unusual, but if you're deciding where to have lunch in Pensacola, this little place should be on your short list. You'll be pleased if you go there!

Love this place, probably my favorite lunch spot in town. Great specials, Chefs who are thinking about what is fresh and how best to prepare it. This place is going to explode once folks taste what they are doing.

Chef Nick catered my wedding and it was nothing less then amazing. He was so confident,he made me feel confident of his abilities, and he didn't dissapoint. The food was fresh, delicious, and visually appealing. He had great service that went above and beyond. Thank you Nick!

I was in Pensacola for five days and ate at Pensacola Cooks Kitchen for four of those. This place has amazing food and the chefs are right there making it in front of you (and ladies, you will enjoy watching good looking men cooking for you). Day one I had a pulled pork sandwich for lunch. The homemade potato chips are killer with a fantastic lemony salty seasoning. The pulled pork was flavorful and tender. Day two we can back for breakfast, but they were out of biscuits, so I settled for just eggs and bacon, and you can't go wrong with eggs and bacon. Day three was lunch again, this time a tuna "taco"-more of a tuna pita sandwich-also delicious with fresh tomatoes and great seasoning. Day four was breakfast and this time there were biscuits and boy were they tasty. This place should totally be on the Food Network as they get a lot of their items from the garden out front. The only negatives were it is insanely hot inside (and just as hot outside) since they are truly cooking in front of you, and they serve everything in styrofoam takeout containers. The takeout containers make it easy to take your leftovers, but given the food is so good you won't have any, I'd rather eat off a paper plate and save the environment. If I'm ever back in Pensacola this will definitely be a stop on the trip.

My favorite restaurant to eat at during lunch. I highly recommend this place to anyone who likes trying new places. Frank and Nick are great chefs and I order the special every time I go in. They are very open to new ideas and the "bar-stool-cook in front of you atmosphere" to the restaurant makes you feel at home. I haven't had the same thing since I've gone and I've been to this place at least 10 times. My favorite thing on the menu so far is the "Egg Noodles with cheese and bacon". The food is amazing and they make it fresh everyday. Definitely a place Diners, Drive-ins, and Dives needs to check out.

So glad we found this place. Definitely a dive in the best way. Owner was even there and made a point to visit with every guest. Food is my top concern and it was amazing. I had the best ever BLT. Tons of bacon, the tomatoes were actually garden fresh and the bread is a fried bread, so good. I let my daughter have one bite and then had to share the rest of it with her. She asked if we can eat there the next day so she could have a whole one to herself. Definitely stop if you're passing by. They have a great cucumber salad and make potato chips from scratch, both were excellent.

Fabulous! The food was delicious, filing and very reasonably priced. You'll get a lot of "bang for your buck." The schnitzel was amazing, but order anything. You can't make a bad choice. The cook was super friendly. The owners were there and came out to personally thank us for coming in to support them. I would go back right now if i want so full.

Wow! This place just opened and it is incredible!!! Met the chef, Nick, what a nice guy. He prepared the food FRESH right in front of me. Ordered a Chicken Breast Sandwich---off the hook good! HUGE portion the chicken breast was crispy, crunchy and light. Perfectly cooked..I opted for the Kaiser roll, lettuce, tomato and a horseradish sauce. It also came with fresh potato chips all for $5.95! Score! Love this place. Can't wait to try other stuff on the menu like that pork loin sandwich and the entrees. They are open for LUNCH only right now, sign on door said 11am-3pm Mon-Friday and it is all Carry-Out--not an issue for me especially during lunch hour. So happy this place has come to town...thanks for answering the culinary void on Barrancas! Yippee! Will definitely return!

Pensacola Cooks is kind of the reincarnated version of Distinctive Kitchens. The owners used to do cooking classes at the Distinctive Kitchens in downtown Pensacola. We met them after doing a couple of classes there. Now that it has closed, the owners have opened their own business. They are doing a wonderful job with their newly opened business, and not-surprisingly the food is amazing. One thing I really like about their set-up is that they take suggestions for their menu, since it changes every week anyways. This place is out-of-the-way for me, but I will make an effort to come as much as possible.

From the first day I ate here. It felt like I was eating at a friends house. Everything is made in house and fresh, great price, fast friendly service. Perfect during working hours. Did I mention, breakfast is great too. (not in the menu, but he makes really good omelets). After going there many times, they know what you like, how you like it. It is not unusual if the place is not crowded to engage in a conversation with them. Like I said, just like you would do with your buddies. I had the entire menu several times. The goulash is great. The pork schnitzel is fantastic. If you don't know what to get, get the BLT. It is the best BLT you'll ever have. Mashed potatoes with mushroom sauce, mmmmmm. When you go there, tell him you saw Leon's review and that I say hi.

Fantastic gourmet comfort food. Frank and Nick greeted is warmly while we perused the menu; it was difficult choosing from all of the delicious smelling and looking food! Our group ordered different meals, goulash, meatloaf, bacon and cheese noodles, and schnitzel. Everyone LOVED his or her lunch. And no-one was willing to share! We were so impressed with the quality and quantity of food, and with Nick and Frank, that we promptly signed up for the November 21 couples cook dinner. We can't wait! This is an unpretentious and delicious addition to Pensacola. We will be back!

Stumbled upon this hidden gem and WOW it was amazing! Everything was fresh and delicious! Some of the best food Ive had; full of flavor! Super friendly guys and they even made a grilled cheese for my daughter when it wasn't on the menu! I only wish we lived closer so we could experience some of their cooking classes as well!

Off beat kind of place. Lively atmosphere. Many folks popping in to pick up orders. Very eclectic menu. Reminds of local places in the Caribbean.

Amazing food! Everything is made in front of you fresh. The place is very small, only bar style seating inside, but there is some outdoor seating as well to accommodate slightly bigger groups. My wife had a pulled pork sandwich special with house made chips. The sandwich was good and had a nice twist with mustard instead of slaw. The chips were unreal, I could eat 10 bags of them! I had the meatloaf entree with mushroom gravy, mashed potatoes and vegetable of the day, squash. Huge portion! Meatloaf was fried in a pan and then gravy was poured over the top. Potatoes were a good consistency and went perfect with the meal. Squash was grilled and delicious. Somehow I ate it all plus half of my wife's chips. We will definitely be going back!

Great lunch spot close to Aviation Museum. Small and not much to look at from outside, but wonderful food. Sit on a stool at the counter and watch chef do his magic. Great schnitzel, lumpia, and chicken fried steak.

We just happened to stumble onto Pensacola Cooks Kitchen (PCK) on March 3 while passing through P'cola. We had spent a week in New Orleans, and have spent 1 week bicycling east along the coast toward Tallahassee. Our meal at PCK was as good as or better than any meal we had in NOLA or hence. This place knows what they are doing. It is the real deal. The food is fabulous!!! The prices are MOST reasonable. The portions are HUGE! Get your backside in there! Otherwise you're missing out, big time.

I have now had lunch here 3 times and I am addicted to the fried chicken sandwich. IT IS INSANELY GOOD! It is HUGE, SUPER FRESH, and absolutely amazing! The horseradish sour cream is awesome...make sure you get it! Also, I tried it with the lacso today and it was really good as well! Make the trip and try it. I love local places and this is a WONDERFUL spot! The staff is really friendly and you can even sample items if you go in and order there. =)

Chef Nick and his crew are doing a wonderful job! The food is delicious, even satisfying a picky 11-year-old. The portion sizes are large and the prices are low. Can't wait to try everything on the menu!

Hubs and I had an excellent lunch of golden crispy fried pork tenderloin sandwich and "the best ever BLT". The twist was we ordered both on langos-which is a freshly fried bread that is one of the best things we've ever eaten! Huge, open-faced sandwiches (seriously-10 pieces of bacon on mine) served with their house made salt and vinegar potato chips-another "best ever!" Light and crispy! We took home enough leftovers for dinner and Hubs says maybe breakfast too! The food was made from scratch excellent and we loved sitting at the bar watching the chef at work. A tiny restaurant with great big flavors !
