Being raised in western civilization, I know what chicken tastes like and what I received in my order was some sort of rubbery, slimy man-made specimen which I couldn't manage to properly masticate enough to swallow. Asian food has always been one of my favorite cuisines, despite the fact that I have often wondered how far the "everything tastes like chicken" hypothesis can be taken...but this place took it way too far! I would have given two stars for the flavor alone. It wasn't awful, but it was pretty bland. I had the chow mein and my Hubby had the hot and sour soup- two of our favorites. My hubby had some unidentifiable imitation meat in his soup. In my dish, the veggies were extremely sparse. We ordered ahead and picked up our order. I would potentially give 3-4 stars for the service and atmosphere, however, we didn't have the entire dining experience. The booths looked comfortable, the floor looked relatively clean. the decor was cute and pretty authentic. There was a nice fountain when you walk in, so they are probably up to Feng Shui standards. We didn't see the bathrooms. Had to wait 5-10 minutes for our food- when we were told 10-15 minutes over the phone and it was 35 minutes with drive time. Didn't bother us, but thought I'd mention it in case it matters to you. P.S. We enjoyed the Chinese restaurant "Number 1" very much.

This place was fantastic. Super cheap prices and excellent food. I loved the variety as well. There was something on the menu for everyone. We fed 8 people for 50 bucks!! And still had leftovers the next day. I would definitely return.

Pretty decent overall. The inside is dingy but the food is good. I got the vegetable lo mein and the spring rolls. The noodle dish was huge!!! The rolls were a bit greasy but I think it was the thick dough. I got 2 meals out of it for less than $10!

Excellent place to eat especially for the price. My family used to go here going back to the 60's. They always get cashew chicken I got the single person family dinner which includes that and sweet and sour pork. Would definitely go again.

Living near House of Chong, it took me well over two years before I ate there. What can I say that hasn't already been said? The food does not match the dated decor, that is for sure. Very tasty food and better than most of the Chinese restaurants in town. The staple Chinese dishes are excellent!

Stopped in for lunch. They had a buffet and it was the best one in Pensacola so far. Everything had great quality for a buffet. The dumplings, salt and pepper shrimp, everything was great! For $6.99 for buffet and drink that price you can't beat! The atmosphere could use some work but service was great and made up for it. I would definitely return and tell others to try out!

Best Chinese food in Pensacola! The crab Rangoon (12 for $3.35) we're the best I've had anywhere. The egg rolls are light and delicious. We had curry chicken and orange chicken. The portions were large and very flavorful. I highly recommend this restaurant. Note that the buffet is only for lunch Mon - Fri..

I went to this restaurant after seeing great reviews from Yelp, but I was thoroughly disappointed after a series of unfortunate events. First of all, the server took the order wrong and brought four dishes instead of three that we ordered. I asked the server to take one dish back to the kitchen, but she wouldn't take it back. She said she would end up having to pay for the wrong order. Feeling sorry for her since she seemed desperate, I just decided to take the wrong order although it was way too much food for me and my two pre-teen girls. However my agony did not stop there. The General's Chicken we ordered was cold so I asked the server lady to heat it up. She took it back tot the kitchen and brought it back in 30 seconds saying she just used a microwave since she didn't know how to use the stove (?). Then I wondered, "why is the waitress heating up the food instead of the cook?" Moreover, the food was overall too salty or soggy in general. Finally, as we were eating, another worker kept sweeping the carpet floor with a broom making dust everywhere. I normally don't leave reviews, but I was compelled to let everyone know how I was misled by the high rating of this place in Yelp. You are free to go to this place, but don't get high hopes.

This place serves good Chinese (and it is not easy to find good Chinese food in Pensacola). This place is an old timer and dates back to the days when Chinese food was a novelty here; hence the Oriental kitschy decor. There is a wacky pagoda that serves as the entrance, and the interior is over-the-top Chinese knick knack heaven. But I think it's great fun to look at! Another plus is that they serve good food. I recommend the Won Ton Soup- normally it is a dull boring staple-but not here; it is delicious. Their best dish by far: Cashew Chicken. Just try it and you will see for yourself.

What a hidden gem! I've passed by so many times throughout the years, and after moving back to Pensacola, I was introduced to this place. I'm not usually a Cashew Chicken person, but it was strongly suggested that I tried their Cashew Chicken. I wasn't disappointed. Great food. Great prices!

I can't even remember eating here, but if I checked in I must have. As such, it gets 3 stars.

Best egg rolls and cashew chicken ever. Not a fancy place by any means (still looks like it did when I was 6) but the lady that works there always remembers what I want to drink when I walk in. They have a lunch buffet and it's only $6 so you can't really complain about it being expensive. If you have sinus problems put some spicy mustard on your egg rolls because it will definitely clear up your sinuses!

Went here based on other Yelp reviews - very disappointed. Restaurant seemed dirty, carpets were old and taped at the seams, and very dingy. Though we went at prime lunch hours where the food on the buffet should be fresh, we were not impressed with the quality or taste.

Chinese Cuisine

The popularity of Chinese food in America can be adjudicated by the appearance of China Town in many major cities in the United State of America. The popular trend of ordering or opting for Chinese take away food isn't unknown in America. Chinese take away food comes to rescue when you're too tired from work or too exhausted to cook. No one can resist the temptation of eating spicy noodles, shrimp, chicken, beef or pork cooked in the sweet and spicy sauce. The cooking method of authentic Chinese food is a lot different compared to what is served in America.

Generally, Chinese use dark meat small bones and organs to cook dishes but this changes when you are eating American-Chinese fusion food prepared using white boneless meat cooked with broccoli, carrots and onions. Back in China, the food is less spicy and oily as they favor steaming and braising method for cooking the most popular dishes. So, if you have a taste for authentic Chinese food, then try finding a real Chinese restaurant in the city. You can also try the most popular fusion Chinese food like Pecking Duck, Chicken Feet, Hot Pot, Shrimp Dumpling Soup, Mapo Tofu, Wontons, Chop Suey, Egg Rolls and not to forget Fortune Cookies.

There are not many restaurants in America serving authentic Chinese food. A little research on Restaurant Listings directory can help you locate the best Chinese restaurants in the city. Chinese cuisine is continuously evolving, and you can find a variety of dishes categorized as the food for lactose intolerant, gluten intolerant, vegan, vegetarian, and diabetic friendly. So, if you have a group of friends with different taste patterns, save the hassle and visit the nearest Chinese restaurant in your city.
