On many drives to work i see this building to the right as i come into palmetto. I notice that before kostas use to be a rib place. I was slightly curious to see what this little Greek restaurant had to offer me and co-worker one lunch afternoon. Absolutely a good change for Palmetto and its very bad lack of good food. The food was tasty but not out of this world good. It did have my taste buds going and i had no bad reactions afterwards like some places have caused around palmetto. I had a hot sub, it was the Italian sausage on white bread with fries. When i open the To-go box i was just amazed at the melted cheesiness messs! The sausage was had very unique taste, i wonder if they make it them self's? The fries were average but not bad at all. My co-worker had the spinach pie a la carte. She said she liked it and it wasnt bad but not really good. Thats all for this review nothing more then a good family owned business.

Food was excellent! Family style restaurant. I had the open roast beef with mashed potatoes and green beans. The staff was friendly and the food came out fast. I would definitely recommend them.

We were driving through Palmetto looking for a place for lunch. The parking lot was busy. Good food, right? We weren't disappointed. Fried shrimp and fries was great. Just enough fries, not enough to feed four. Service could have been better though, hence the four stars. Will go back if going through again.

In Palmetto, it is really exciting to get anything new. Just the anticipation of waiting for the new unknown was driving me crazy. As soon as they opened, the parking lot is always full from open to close. There is no website and no other information, so I arrived here without prior research. It's like going to see a movie that you have never watched a trailer for or read about. Almost every city/town I've lived in has a restaurant called Kostas, so I really did not know what to expect, other than some Greek food. We desperately need some good Greek food in the area. This is actually the second location of this Kostas, the other being in North Carolina, which opened in 1979. Arrived around 8:30pm on Saturday night, and they close at 9:00pm. But, we were not rushed through our meal. The waitresses are all really nice and informal, just like what you would expect from a local joint attracting customers around the block. It's not the type of place where you would drive over five miles to get to, but it's decent. The Flaming Cheese is delish, but what's not to like, it's cheese covered in alcohol with lemon juice. Then, set on fire by the owner and the staff exclaims loudly, "Opa!" The Pastichio (Greek Lasagna) reminds me of a home cooked meal. It took only a few bites to get used to the cinnamon taste. Since it is my first time having this dish, I am really not an expert. The Greek Salad needs to be chopped more, and I recommend getting the dressing on the side. The Gyro meat is not what I was expecting, it was not cut from the spinny-thing, but rather pre-sliced and heated on a flat top. As you can see, we mostly tried the Greek food, but there are also many American and Italian dishes. Even some stir fry items on the back page. Definitely a solid local place, but don't expect anything gourmet.

Mediocre at best. If you're looking for something new and exciting, this is NOT the place. It may as well be Poppi's 8. The food was okay, but as said, nothing exciting. The service was real good and fast. If you're looking for a quick dinner, this is a good place. If you're looking for something special, nope.

Being pregnant, I crave very specific things. Tonight happened to be greek. We were traveling through and spotted this place. I'm glad we stopped. I got the gyro platter and my husband got a gyro. Both were very good. The meat was well seasoned but not overpowering and not to salty, a problem we usually have with gyros. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. If we are in the area again, we will definitely stop. My pregnant taste buds were happy.

Kosta's is not really good. It is average. This place is old and the atmosphere is old. Palmetto really needs a diner with REAL food that you do not find here. I had the 1/2 Greek chicken and it was the smallest 1/2 chicken I have ever seen. Their prices do not match the quality of food ... High prices and low quality... Reminds me of another Greek restaurant around! Never again!

Had an early dinner, and not being here before, and reading the so-so reviews, really didn't know what to expect. However, we were pleasantly surprised! We were greeted immediately when we walked in the door and quickly seated in a booth of our choice. The service was exceptionally friendly and thorough, explaining the dishes and making recommendations. The food was delicious and almost too much! I had the Greek chicken and took home the breast, and my husband had the Kostas fish dinner with spinach and feta, onions and tomatoes...it was excellent. And we even saved room for a piece of their homemade peanut butter pie! We will definitely be back!

We've been there three times. Every time the service has been fantastic. The food is very good. It's not a gourmet restaurant, so we didn't expect that. It's home made food and tasty. The prices match the food. It is so much better than the chain restaurants. Overall, it is a great family restaurant.

The interior decor has improved greatly from the time when it was Kojaks - Much brighter and cleaner. Yesterday was our second visit. Although, our servers were very pleasant, both times we experienced slow service. The first time it was so slow I mentioned it to the management. Yesterday we arrived about 3:45 and there were three other tables. It appeared there was our waitress, a cashier, and the owner on hand, but no one noticed our long waits for service. The food was just OK, nothing to draw us back for a third try.

Italian Cuisine

The immense popularity of Italian cuisine globally isn't unknown. You can find an Italian Pizzeria around every corner of almost every city in the United States. Not to forget that in every house, people enjoy mac and cheese as comfort food. But it would be wrong to believe that Italian food starts with pizza and ends with good pasta as this Mediterranean country has much more to offer other than these two dishes. In Italian Cuisine, there is a high use of fresh tomatoes, all kinds of herbs, great quality of cheese, all types of meat, seafood and fresh handmade pasta. Many find it hard to believe that Italians have been making noodles long back.

Italian and Greek cuisines are always mistaken to be same, but they are poles apart. The primary difference between the two cuisines is the use of cheese in most of the Italian dishes. Italians love to cultivate their own cheese and process them as per their food requirement. It is believed that some cheese is so expensive that cheese producers secure them in lockers.

If you are bored eating the same old pasta or pizza, you can try some of the authentic Italian dishes like Risotto, Polenta, Ribollita, Lasagna, Fiorentina Steak, Bottarga, Ossobuco, Carbonara, Focaccia, Arancini and Supplì. Another item which Italians love to relish every morning is a good cup of Italian Coffee. Once you taste a freshly brewed cup of Italian Coffee, you might not visit Starbucks ever again. Authentic Italian food is made with heart and soul, so go find a restaurant where you can relish Italian cuisine in your city.
