I enjoyed this place. I wanted waffles and was in the area, so there we go. I was able to customize my order, which was delightful. I got the Fruitopia waffle, which featured blueberries and strawberries. I also asked for avocado and chocolate chips, which were generously placed alongside my waffle. I mean, they offer avocado as a side, which is fabulous. The ambiance was pleasant and the coffee was good. I only wish the waffle were a bit more moist.

The food is excellent and at a very reasonable price. The staff is friendly and always willing to go the extra mile to take care of you! Definitely a must try spot!

Favorite breakfast joint around. Its got the feel of your typical family breakfast spot, but a unique twist on some of the essentials. Recommend: Belgium waffles with all the fruit and the eggs Benedict. Best around.

All the breakfast & lunch classics plus a nice selection of dishes off the beaten path... Variety in the menu and friendly service keeps us coming back! If I had to choose a few favorites, they would be the savory crepe with mornay sauce, and the homemade biscuits and gravy are outstanding and comforting :)

My wife and I have eaten at East Lake Café at least once a week for a number of years now and have never been disappointed. The food is great and the service is excellent! We are usually there for breakfast, however their lunch offerings are also great. Sally and Geraldine are friendly and very attentive. Maria, in the kitchen can put together a great omelet. Sally makes sure that our food is as we ordered, and keeps our coffee filled, always with a smile. Service and quality such as this will keep us coming back for many more years. I highly recommend East Lake Café.

Sometimes when I come to town and visit family we eat breakfast here because it is close to home. The food is fine but what prompted this review today is the consistantly negative attitude of the servers. Today I was screeched at as well as generally ignored by the two servers working outside after we had been seated on the patio. No one seemed very welcoming towards us and actually we got the feeling we were generally an inconvenience dining there. Waited 15 minutes to order as the server casually chatted with two other tables while ignoring making eye contact with us. My grandmother would have Included a fruit cup with her meal but the server was not interested in accommodating her, so she order a glass of orange juice instead which in the end never appeared. Our food arrived and was fine. But then we waited another 15 minutes for the bill while the servers made long conversations with other tables. Folks from another lonely table finally flagged her down & requested their check and the server brought it to them so when I requested the bill for our table I was snapped at and told "well I wasn't your server but I'll help you anyway." I've concluded that the staff here is either unhappy or they do not care about customer service & while the food maybe good the attitude of the staff is not worth the trouble. Next time I will suggest another place to eat.

I went for Mother's Day, it was packed but they tried there best and it was the only place we could get in. My husband and I had a beautiful breakfast and they even gave us a flower and complimentary pastries. The waitress was busy but still attentive and very friendly. I ate a quiche which was gigantic but cooked perfectly and my husband enjoyed a Mediterranean wrap. Don't ruin this review by removing it until this business pays you ! Small business owners do not deserve it !

Check in coupon says 4 for 20 Its really 4 OFF 20 Food was ok at best, and they didn't care to fix the error with the coupon.

Good food.. Ordered eggs Benedict.. Would definitely dine again. Service wasn't that great.. Sat outside and it took a while for my table to be greeted and same thing happened to another table. Server not too friendly.

Wow! What a hidden gem. I've driven by this shopping center dozens of times and have never noticed this place before. A friend suggested we meet her for lunch and I'm glad we did. I was in the mood for some type of breakfast dish and decided upon the veggie quiche. It was fantastic! It came with fresh fruit and a fresh blueberry muffin. At $9 this was a great option and one I would order again. I'm looking forward to taking my family here for breakfast.

This was the first time I have ever been here, shocking considering I live .5 miles away and frequently visit the other business's in the plaza. Decided today was the day to try it out. The decor is dated, seriously strange decorations, they must be catering to a older crowd, and that exactly what they got on this day.....at 40, I felt like the youngest in the restaurant. I thought the menu was overpriced, although the selection was pretty solid and it appeared of you wanted a solid breakfast this might be a good spot.....we were there for lunch so we ordered 2 club sandwiches, both the hostess and the elderly waitstaff seemed like they didn't enjoy their jobs....why does the staff here look so unhappy?? Our clubs arrived, strange that even though the only difference in our order was the type of bread, the two sandwiches were very different. They had different cheeses and one had lots of ham, little turkey.....the other had lots of turkey, little ham???? I could do without the olives on the toothpicks as well, but that's just a bit nit picky. The elderly guests probably enjoy the olives....lol. This place is in need of a serious update if they expect to draw any non-retirees.

My best friend and I come here whenever I visit for the weekend and each and every time, it's like we have to beg to get a waitress to acknowledge our existence. Even when we get a waitress' attention, they are never friendly nor do they exude any type of friendly mannerisms. Coming from the restaurant industry myself I am very critical of waitresses and waiters and this place has to be one of the most unorganized places I've ever been too. Food is great though and that is why we come back.

Went for breakfast with friends and my coffee smelled like fish. I asked for another and it still smelled bad.. I ended up not drinking it even though I had a killer caffeine headache. The floor... was so dirty that I didn't want my feet to be touching it... On the plus side, the food tasted pretty decent, but due to the sanitation and fish smelling coffee, I probably wont ever be going back again.

I've been to this place a couple times, since it's just down the street from me. I have no complaints about the food. It's not my favorite, but it's tasty. I came here only to write a short review because each time I've been the service is horrible! They seem to tag team the tables, and either you can't get anyone, or you get a parade of people asking if you need anything. And no one seems to dang happy to be there. On my last visit with two friends, the waitress brought my friend water, when she ordered tea. The waitress said, "oh so you want tea now, i'll have to go get it". Ummm, no. My friend ordered tea, you are wrong. Even if she was right, not how you speak to your customer. Due to the below average service and general attitude of "you are making my day harder" of the servers, I won't be going back, unless a friend really, really, wants to.....

DISGUSTING!! Dirtiest place around. Gross scum all over our table. we wanted to sit outside and it looked like it might rain a little, our greeting was "if it rains i'm not coming back out here" from our waitress. i wish she didn't come back out, would of saved me $15 and myself from a gross meal. forgot what i had, but it doesnt matter, i wouldnt eat here if i could eat free everytime i came. place should be shut down its so dirty. they had a dirty dish tub stacked a mile high with dishes (it wasn't busy), RIGHT next to our table, AND we were OUTSIDE!! makes me sick knowing they are still serving food salt and pepper shakers have so much scum on them they collect hair.

Been for breakfast and lunch, we usually sit outside and have never been unhappy with the food or service. It's not a fancy place but it is very comfortable!

Solid offerings on the menu, however bland and prepared oddly. I would be happier with this restaurant if the prices were lower. It portrays a diner atmosphere based off of the employees lack of concern of the guests needs, decor, and quality of food. If it's busy be prepared to receive a French vanilla cappuccino when ordering a coffee-or-the dishes coming out not as ordered (wrong side parings) while not having anyone to address the understandable issues with. Drive to safety harbor! Same quality, or better food at many of the restaurants while easier on the wallet. Cost isn't a concern for us when dining out, however I don't enjoy feeling ripped off, as I have many times leaving east lake cafe.

This is our little gem. We bring our dog and sit outside. Today we had the muffuletta with fries. The best sandwich there!

Breakfast was good. Unfortunately service was not. The severs aren't assigned specific tables so you don't actually have a server. Different employees walk by at different intervals and do things. They weren't very good with manners or customer service. We asked for coffee with extra cream. The server said "I can only bring you black coffee. " We all kind of looked at her and then she said "you have cream on the table you can use yourself" Absolutely no smile. A different person walked up and said "are you ready to order or not? Do you need more time? " Again no smile. No one introduced themselves. No one said good morning. We won't go back even though our food was decent.

Once again another incredible stack of Chocolate Lovers Pancakes! Excellent food and service. My favorite place for breakfast/brunch. We often have some friends join us and they enjoy the food and service as well. Thanks and see you next week.

Always fresh and delicious. I get a special almost every week, and there's always something new and tasty. This is one of my favorite places to get food that tastes like real food. Nice atmosphere (indoors or out). Good service.

A long time favorite for breakfast. They are a little expensive, but the ingredients are the best I've found, so well worth it. I am practically addicted to their croissant breakfast sandwich with egg whites, shaved deli ham, and provolone! Staff is always friendly and accommodating.

Went to eastlake cafe for a late breakfast lunch. Usually this is my go to for breakfast foods in the area but today just didn't hold up to my expectations. All the jellys were sticky and dirty, and once again our server had to come back and asked what we ordered.. ( should I start buying note pads and handing them out to servers so they can write things down?) but then we got another server and she was great, and took care of us. the food was great I can't complain about that at all it's exactly what I wanted for lunchfast!

This is a review that might be more on personal level than my other reviews because East Lake Cafe is our neighborhood restaurant and we East Lake residents support it. I have been enjoying this cafe over 2 years now and it is impossible to agree with the low rating reviews. Depends on how you like your food, let's say breakfast, if you prefer greasy spoon plates, you won't get it; if you are organic food frenetic, First Watch is your cup of tea. East Lake cafe is right in between. Their food is light on flavor, large on portions, plenty on menu choices and lean on price. Their interior deco is nothing to brag about, yet comfortable and bright; Outdoor seating are good for people watching and it is also dog friendly. I like their lunch gourmet salad selections, not mention home made dressing and fresh baked muffins. Sandwich and wraps are very popular choices. They also offer hot entrees. Originally, it is a breakfast and brunch spot (open till 3pm). Now they have opened dinner from Thursday to Saturday. Dinner menu is base on chef special so it changes. Saturday and Sunday usually very busy. Owner Mr. Pergola works very hard to keep this place satisfy all guests' needs. His staffs are long term employees and they live up the standard the owner requested. Honestly, they are all carry a NO BS manner that may turn off some guests. But to me, it is just fine. They serve my food, make sure my coffee is filled and give me SPACE. I like it! Mother's day and Valentine's day, every lady gets flower. In a perfect world, I would like to have East Lake Cafe on South Miami Beach. In reality, I am totally cool with it just right next to our East Lake subdivision.

Food was average and came fast. The server was miserable and never one made eye contact. The salt shakers had enough slime on them that hairs had stuck and collected. Won't go back.

This is a staple for my visits home. I've been away at college the past 8 years and every time I came into town and wanted to catch up with a friend, this was our brunch spot. I worked here as a dish washer when I was in high school and have tried most everything that used to be on their menu. The waffle fries are seasoned so well that I look forward to them just as much as whatever main dish I order. The healthy pancakes taste amazing and j7st make me happy when I eat them. The wraps and sandwiches are reliably tasty - especially the club sandwich, it's my go to and never disappoints. The atmosphere is friendly and laid back - great place to come for a chat and some great food. The owner is very passionate about food, he wants customers to be happy and he's a nice guy on top of all that. Great local place with good food and a chill atmospjere. Highly recommend.

The portion sizes are way too big. When you start laughing at the site of your meal being delivered then there is a problem. Service is good, food is average but delivered very quickly.

The East Lake Cafe is the only place in the busy East Lake corridor serving breakfast and lunch. Portions are generous and well-prepared. There are specials and novel twists and an ever-evolving menu. Patio dining is available and the cafe is pet friendly. When they are busy, service can be a bit forgetful, but a gentle reminder brings missing items and an apology. The food is always delicious and the staff works very hard to please.

Had the breakfast this morning, great coffee! Had an omelet (me) and the double dipped french toast (wife) yum! French toast is crunchy on the outside, gooey goodness in the middle! Omelet had the right amount of fresh ingredients. Food came out fast and the staff was wonderful

Tucked back in a corner and hard to see from the street You will find the East Lake Cafe, a great spot to meet I've only enjoyed their breakfast, which has been delicious every time after all, sitting on a patio, sipping coffee is a favorite pasttime The mediterranean egg white omelette was filled to the brim with delicious veggies and hummus which won't have me hitting the gym Service was quick with no hovering involved so the mystery of where to eat early in east lake has been solved I'll have to venture back to try their lunch and dinner and hopefully like breakfast, it will be a winner!

I was in the area after a Drs appt. and needed breakfast bad. I had read about this place and decided to try it. I ordered the Cafe Southern Special, 2 eggs, biscuit and gravy, 2 sausage patties, and grits for $7.95. The coffee, Barney's, was $1.95. The reason I quoted prices was simply to show the sign of the times. The gravy was a bit too salty. The sausage patty was a bit bland. I sat outside and was tag teamed by two servers who obviously didn't communicate with each other. They were both attentive but caused me to be repetitive. I won't be looking to come back soon.

Good breakfast ,good service they have a guitar player on Sunday and the service was very solid. A good choice and nice to have a local breakfast place.

Average breakfast fare. I had the Greek omelet with home fries, and while the waitress was attentive and pleasant, the home fries tasted old (precooked I'm sure) and the omelet mediocre.

Great for breakfast if you're in the area. Everything we ordered was great and they have a cappuccino machine. It's great to have independent places like this so you don't have to go to the chains.

The outside seating is nice when it is not too hot. Nice that you can bring your dog and sit outside. Have eaten there a few times for breakfast. Had a few different omelets. I don't recommend the veggie omelet. The asparagus is way over cooked and comes out like mush (very unappetizing). Food is average.
