Washington Shores Fish Market is not really a seafood market per se, but rather more of a neighborhood fish fry joint. Located in the Washington Shores neighborhood, just west of John Young Parkway right next to a Lynx bus stop, the unassuming shop, in somewhat sketchy locale, sells up loads of fried fish and shrimp for a value price. You order up at the window, where the orders are fried fresh to order. Expect to wait maybe 10-15 minutes in your car or at one of the picnic tables outside. Classic Street Food. You can order from a list of fish and seafood including grouper, catfish, Nile perch, shrimp ranging from $6 to $9. They also have sides for order from cheesy grits to hush puppies and coleslaw. The portions are all very generous, fresh and hot from the frier. The daily special includes fried basa fish with bread and fries for $5.75, which comes with about 5-6 big pieces of fried fish fillets. The steak fries are crispy and delicious as are the fried fish. The fish breading is perfect.

I've been here a few times, more than I can count on my hands and I like the place a lot. They give you about 5 to 6 fillets of cooked to order fish and a couple slices of white bread. The prices are very reasonable ranging from $5 to $9. I usually get the catfish or whiting and I always have to tell them to fry it soft. I feel they fry their fish to long making is hard on the edges. Every now and then I may find a bone in my fish but it's not so much to where I'm spending half my time picking bones out. While I've had the fried shrimp once and they weren't terrible, they were fried too long for my liking and weren't seasoned so I haven't bothered to get them again. The area it's in is not the most desired location and you need to watch your surrounding. Locals may be used to it but if you're not from here you may feel a little uncomfortable. Aside from that, overall the place is great and I would definitely recommend it.

Been craving fish for two weeks now. Got my fix at Washington Shores with an overflowing box of catfish!!! Yes Gawd they tape the box so the overflowing fish don't swim it's way out of there. You get fries, hush puppies, light bread and fish. I got back to my office started eating with my hot sauce and mustard on my fish. My mouth watering just writing about it. Call ahead.... The prices will knock your feet off for the amount of food you receive, Some people may find this area sketchy but I have never felt unsafe. Check it out for good cheap fish and fries.

This place is great! They give you so much food for such a low price. I buy one fish dinner and it's so full that they have to use tape to close the plate. It's enough for two or three people to eat or for one person to eat on all day (that's what I normally do :) ) It's normally super crowded on the weekend so calling in definitely helps avoid wait. The food is always cooked fresh to order and tastes great! I implore any and everyone to give it a try!

I have been customer of Washington Shore Fish Market for about 15 years or more. I am from a small town, and I am a part of a family who loves to fish (except I hate fishing). I was accustomed to fresh fish. This fish market has the best fresh fried fish ever! This cook to order, fried to perfection, & ever so tasty fish is reasonably priced. You get a lot of fish for your money. I typically share a fish sandwich with a friend. You cannot go wrong at Washington Shores Fish Market.

Cheap, good food in a sketchy neighborhood - Sign me up! As I have mentioned (i.e. whined about) in other reviews, its tough finding foods that match up to what I grew up with in Louisiana. That isn't due to a lack of friends tying to help as I constantly get recommendations of places to try. With all due respect to my friends and family members, those places generally stink. Washington Shores was the latest one and I was ready to blow it off, but several things intrigued me. It isn't trendy. It is a walk up to the counter and order joint. It isn't in the ....ummm....nicest part of town. Yet, everyone who had heard of this place raved about the food, prices, and quantities, so I decided to check it out. I am definitely glad I did. The food was excellent especially for the quantity and price. The pictures are not an exaggeration. You get all that food for roughly 9 bucks. The fish is consistently well seasoned and cooked and there are way more fries than you can eat. Washington Shores offers several types of fish along with wings and shrimp. I generally stick with the catfish but the other dishes I have had are good as well. One thing I would caution people on is to ask whether or not certain fishes are boneless. The catfish is boneless, but there were a couple of other fish that did have bones in them. Beyond that, there really isn't much else to complain about. Good food at a good price makes Washington Shores a winner for this reviewer. Highly recommended.

This business have been around for awhile and NO REVIEWS YET?? This was recommended word by mouth. All I can say excellent Fish and Chips and LOTS of it! The location isn't at the best neighborhood. It's across the LYNX bustop on that area and nearby shopping plaza. They specialized in only Fish and Chips. They offer a "sandwich" deal which is only fish and meirita bread slices OR the "dinner" deal which has the steak fries and 2 hushpuppies along with the fish and bread. They have a Daily Special everyday which is the "basa" fish for $5.75 in which you will get fish, fries and bread. NO hushpuppies. If you want additional hushpuppies with it is 25 cents for 1 or 8 pcs for $1.50? Sandwiches combo costs about $5ish and Dinners costs about $7ish - Depending on which type of fish you like. CASH ONLY place! The place is owned/run by asians. Now the taste: Fish - You get about 5/6 Delicious moist fish fillets (BASA) - excellent thin coating of southern cornmeal batter - crunchy outside yet moist inside! Seasoned well. Hushpuppies - Tastes homemade. Crunchy yet moist somewhat creamy center. Has add ons of green onions and seasonings. Fries - Regular steak fries assuming frozen type. TarTar Sauce - Delicious and tastes homemade..very creamy. They have a drive thru but I think the wait time is still the same = 15 MINS. Some call in to pick up due to this wait. I will def go back and try other fishes but so far Ive been happy with my BASA daily special deal!!

Omg. Delicious. Seriously. Neighborhood a little sketchy but the food is worth it. Hot, fresh, cheap...did I mention cheap? We got enough food for 2 days for $27- and that included for 2 men over 6' tall and big eaters! So much food, they have to tape the box shut. It's crazy. How did I not know about them for 2 years?!?!?!

Great fried food. Fish, hot sauce, and hush puppies are all excellent. Tons of value. You get enough food in the $8.75 dinner for at least two people. Highly recommend this place for good fried food!
