Finally!! An authentic local "mom and pop" Cuban restaurant that is not a chain in Orlando! When I lived in Atlanta, there was an awesome "mom and pop" cuban sub shop near my college that I used to love going to. Unfortunately, in Orlando, I have yet to find a place that was as good and cheap as that. Versalles Cafe is as good if not better! It's in a very odd location...located on Orange Ave just south of 528. It sits among warehouses and old oil pump stations. It's not the most aesthetically-pleasing part of town, but it's definitely worth the drive to go try this place. The restaurant is laid out so you go through a food line and pay for your food before sitting and eating. They have a menu on the wall behind the food line with all their selections. It looks like it stays pretty standard and doesn't change much. I opted for a plate of roast pork, rice and beans, and of course, PLANTAINS!! The portions were ridiculously big! And pretty cheap for around $7.xx with a bottle of water. My friends got similar dishes but also got this plate of yuca that was sort of mashed and cooked with a garlic sauce. It was amazing! I didn't try the cuban sandwiches, but I plan on getting one next time I go there. I'm not sure when this place closes at night but I know they open very early at 6am and serve what looked to be an American breakfast from 6am-10am of eggs, meat, and toast. They close after lunch around 3pm and I believe they open back up for dinner a couple hours after that, but again, I'm not entirely sure. Either way, go here for lunch first and try this amazing Cuban food! It's definitely worth the trip!

Small little restaurant next to the 7-Eleven... the parking lot is pretty packed during the lunch hour. Sometimes you just have to be creative in parking. As for the food... Hands down- the best Cuban sandwich that I have ever had!! Everything that they served looked delicious. I always go for the classic Cuban though. So cheap, but such yum! The people that worked there were very friendly, and smiled while talking to me. Makes me feel happy that I'm there and that they appreciate my business.

Some really good sandwiches! I love the Cuban sandwiches as well as the Beef Sandwich. Mostly Cuban food with a touch of Puerto Rican influence. This place is good and cheap. Parking is tough sometimes, especially when busy.

Just had an AWESOME Cuban from here! Very authentic! Great hidden spot, parking can be a bit tough during lunch time, but luckily I can just walk from work! Do yourself a favor and check it out!

Not very appropriate atmosphere for families. Good cafeteria take out place. Two tables. Nice servers. Customers mostly on the go truck drivers and the like. Food was ok. Had many Cuban sandwiches before and this one is good but not stellar or different. It depends what you're looking for. Definitely good pricing.

This off the beaten path mom and pop Cuban lunch spot puts out some good food and won't put a hurting on the pocket book. Parking is very tight so on a busy lunch rush you might have to do some creative parking. I've tried everything from the roast pork to the sandwiches and I have never been disappointed. Should you find yourself in or near the Taft area of orange ave. give it a try, I think you will be glad you did.

COUNT YOUR CHANGE This dump just went from 5 stars to NONE. i dont know if this guys got a recent gambling problem or what, but the take-out containers are much smaller than they used to be, and Ive recently noticed (AND CONFIRMED WITH OTHERS) that he charges more than the menu says (ON PURPOSE, we all used to go there at my job but have been trying to UN-RECRUIT people). And if they run out of something in the special (beans, plantains, etc), they wont let you substitute another item BUT KEEP THE PRICE THE SAME dude is lucky theres so many cops in there all the time. i may decide to see if he tries that with me again when we're alone; it will DEFINITELY be his last time oh this place is UNBELIEVABLE!! Ive lived here for almost 2 yrs and had no idea such a goldmine was right down the street... now, Im hooked! yucca is perfect every time, portions are extremely generous... I avoid language barriers like the plague (which is getting harder every day in this town)... but CLEAN, LEAN, DELICIOUS, WELL-PREPARED, HIGH-QUALITY food is a universal language that everyone there speaks VERY well

Versailles cafe is very close to where I work so I used to eat here once a week. It's very busy during lunch time. Besides finding a parking space in their tiny lot it can also be difficult just getting in and out of this place. The staff is friendly and the restaurant is very clean. There is a small dining room inside. It gets very crowded at lunchtime. The line is often long and out the door. If you have a short lunch like me, I suggest calling ahead to place your order. The food is delicious. I especially love their pulled pork and their stewed beef over rice with beans. Great Cuban food and inexpensive.

This place is awesome! You can get a complete meal for under $8. Rice, beans , plantains, and a meat of your choice. Plus awesome Cuban sandwiches. This is my favorite lunch time spot when I am on break from work.

Best Cuban food-yummy! Platters come with rice, meat (the pollo guisado/chicken stew is amazing!!!) and fried plantains. Empanadas were good too! Plenty of food for cheap and the staff is warm and friendly. Seating can be tough and prob can't accommodate more than a party of 2. Food was good enough that we are in the car happily:)

Ok, most people have this place highly rated but the chicken I had was dry and the yuca was ok but not great. The black beans and rice were pretty good and though there was a slight language barrier the staff was super nice. I would come back but avoid any lunch rush as this place is tiny! They could handle a much larger location and bring in a lot more customers. I imagine the lack of parking or seating is a major turn off for locals. They have a pretty good selection of things so I'm sure you'll figure something out that is tasty. It's a hot counter too so if you're looking to get and get out that would be no problem. All in all its not a bad spot and I waddled out to the car for under $10.

This review is going to be short. CUBAN SANDWICHES. "nuff said. Okay, I'll elaborate. Found myself in Orlando for a work conference, and all my traveling foodie friends told me Orlando is dead when it comes to the food scene. I was determined to find something outside of your national chains, and utilized my handy-dandy Yelp app to find the higher rated places around town. This popped up, and having just watched Chef, I had Cuban Sandwiches on my mind. Done, I'll check this place out because of its high rating and that the reviews raved about the Cubans. Got here after the noon hour, and it was pretty packed, mostly with men (and seemed like they were mostly construction workers). I told my co-worker that it looked like we hit the jackpot. Yeah, we stood out like a sore thumb, being the only females in the establishment, and the female workers especially doted on us because they probably figured we were out of our element (which we were). We ordered two Cubanos, some sweet fried plaintains (I wanted the salty ones but they were out), and a dessert of some sort. The food was authentic and the Cuban Sandwich was huge! All for $5 too, so such an amazing deal. I saved half and ate it later, and it was still good cold a few hours later. Highly recommend you checking this place out. I'd go back in a heartbeat if I'm in Orlando again.

Really good food for a great price! I got the combo with chicken stew, yellow rice, and fried plantains. You also get a lot for your money. Definitely give this place a shot!

Great place for a fast lunch. Sandwiches are HUGE and hot food looked great. Definitely will come back and recommend if you're in the area to try it.

Not sure I would say this is authentic Cuban, more like authentic Cuban-Puerto Rican. This is not a bad thing, just a response to other reviews. The food was great! What I mean is that they used Puerto Rican terms for the beans (instead of the term used in Cuba - Frijoles), had mofongo which is more typical of Puerto Rico, and sorullitos among other items. I also had a tripleta which was great!

Yelp delivered! The ambiance leaves something to be desired, but the food was amazing. I had the Cubano and my friend had the chicken. The food was reasonably priced and the service was friendly and prompt. Great find!
