Wow this is a delicious hidden gem! My boyfriend picked up a stew with beans and rice and some roasted pork with rice and plantains as carry out. He brought back a ton of food for $11. The rice and beans were seasoned perfectly and the ripe plantains were delightfully sweet. The stew was delectable and contained beef, carrots, and potatoes in an excellent stew sauce. The pork shoulder was tender and well spiced as well. This is an excellent hidden gem in Orlando and I highly recommend trying it if you are in the area.

Can't say enough about this place. The food was phenomenal and I have never had friendlier service anywhere. This is truly the textbook example of a family - owned establishment and this family CARES. I stopped in for lunch today and had an amazing Cuban sandwich and fried plantains... But the highlight was one of the owners, Ronnie, stopping to chat. You can tell he truly cares about his customers and wants to be sure they're happy. Outstanding food is one thing, but when you pair it with top-notch service and a family that takes pride in their business, it's a winning combination. Do yourself a favor, add The Tropical to the list of regular places you go.

Here in Orlando from Seattle for a conference. Our group had no ideas on where to go for lunch. The four of us have very different food preferences, so it's often hard to find a place we can all agree on. I saw Tropical's 5 star rating and hit "directions" without giving the group a vote in the matter. So glad I did! This place is worth every one of its five stars. Each of us loved what we ordered. Pulled pork, roasted pork sandwich, Philly cheese steak sandwich, and the turkey club was, according to my coworker, "probably the best club I've ever had." I can't end this review without complimenting Danny and the rest of the people there. I believe Danny is one of the owners. Accommodating, friendly, genuine people. Oh, and don't miss the plantain (platano). SO perfectly sweet. Their homemade flan is pretty darn good too. TEN STARS! Good job Tropical! You live up to your ratings.

Off the beaten path. Melt in your mouth, tender pork and yummy mashed plantains. This is the place to come for super casual Spanish food. Sweet owners too.

I was searching for something close to my location for lunch. Using gps, I found the tropical to be close. I drove past the place twice as it's not in a normal shopping center type environment. It's nestled amongst its industrial neighbors. I was hesitant that I made a good choice but once I got inside and the aroma got to me, I knew I was in for a treat. The great variety of selections were cafeteria hot bar style. There was 3 rice varieties, two beans, slow braised pork, beef, variety of chicken, fish stew and plantains. A wonderful surprise was that two full meals totaled less than $12. While the price was wonderful, the best part was the taste. The meal was wonderfully seasoned and tender. A++

The only reason I decided to eat at this establishment was due to its ratings on Yelp. All I can say...it lived up to the ratings. Service, off the charts. Food, out of this world. Loved it!!!

We flew in from Dallas and didn't want to have lunch at just another chain. The food came out hot and tasted great. Staff was so nice. Our party had veggie gyros and chicken gyros, along with some avocado salad. Great option if you're looking for something locally owned and home cooked.

Tropical is always busy, because the food is consistently good. The lunch plate is $5 and leaves you full for the day. The food is always freshly made, everyday. It's served to order on a line, plus they have sandwich and special orders that are made just for you. I've had almost everything and it's all delicious.

I LOVE restaurants like this because you can tell they are family owned. My bf treated me to the best "home" cooked breakfast here. I had eggs, fried cheese, toast, salami and fresh squeezed orange juice. If you are looking for delicious Dominican food, this is the place to go. You will not regret it. They are only open for breakfast and lunch. It is not visible from the main road, but nonetheless they were busy. I guess it is a hidden gem that only the locals know about. Oh, and it was also very inexpensive. :)
