There's really nothing unique about Tijuana Flats with regards to their food. Don't get me wrong, the food is not bad, it's just there's nothing enticing enough to make me want to dine here on a regular basis. The only reason I dine here is because of Taco Tuesday, which includes 2 tacos, chips and a soft drink for $5.49. The service is surprisingly excellent. I have not encountered one bad apple from all my visits. The staff is very friendly and fast, even when the place is packed and you have to awkwardly stalk people for their tables.

A step up from fast food, but still below that of a real sit-down place, Tiujana Flats fills the same space as larger chains such as Baja Fresh and Rubio's. While none of them can claim particularly good food-- and I find Tiujana Flats to be pretty uninspired for the food-- their claim to fame is a large hot sauce bar, from mild to medium to downright hot and tasty. Most are pretty decent; I don't think any win awards, but they're a nice signature to have. Decor is decidedly cliche, but it beats the generic white walls and sterile feel of many other places. And service at this location is quite good. A solid 3 stars.

Want good Mexican in Orlando? The best choice is still Agave Azul. I came here one afternoon while visiting my parents. They raved about it, so I had high expectations. This place fell well short of what I expected. Frankly, I don't know how or why this place has exploded in popularity -- they apparently have 75 restaurants. They must have compromised flavor and quality to make a few bucks. Let's hit on the big negative: the food. We started with chips and queso/salsa/guac. The chips were pretty decent, but the queso was a bit too salty for my taste. The salsa was good and the guac was adequate. For my main, I ordered a carnitas chimichanga. Of course, I have no idea if I actually ate a carnitas chimichanga because I could hardly see any meat inside. What little meat was there was overpowered by the multiple layers of tortilla. Your stuffed chimichanga is a facade of folded over tortillas and no substance. A huge disappointment. I guess the deal is you're supposed to flavor your own food with their variety of sauces. Seems more to me like an excuse to not try hard. I didn't come here to make my own food. The friendly service and cool artwork of this place give it a good vibe, but what's the deal with the celebrity photos? A quick look and it's clear they were taken at different locations. Can I go to those locations instead? Maybe they're better than this one. It's pretty sad to see a bunch of celebrities at other locations, though. It's like this location is the unknown brother of a famous person, living vicariously through his sibling's accomplishments. Find your own identity, guy! Finally, I appreciate the charitable work they're doing, but it's not enough to push it up a star, and I'm a guy who ranks customer service and local focus very highly.

Great service, the food is good only reason why it's not a 5 everytime we get the burritos they fall apart bc of the liquid from the tomatoes. I recommend the pico the best I've had anywhere and don't forget the hot sauce bar.

I enjoyed it from the moment I walked in. I was greeted by the manager and then gave us menus and then the waitress/cashier was very nice. Then once I got my food which they bring to you again the manager showed me the hot sauce bar which is great. Good is great. Overall a great experience definitely will be coming here again

This was a huge location located in a strip mall with some other restaurants and publix. They have outdoor seating and indoor as well so whatever fits your fancy. I usually order the steak burrito and love that they include the guac (without extra) and sour cream. Their version of the burrito bowl has everything as well from the lettuce to the rice and black bean. The service was nice here and the space was clean.

I don't really understand the appeal of this place. Yes, you walk in and the interior is really distinct looking. The staff is really friendly and they all seemed more than happy to help out. They explained the concept to me and even brought out a bowl of water for my boyfriend's dog. I did not venture over to the hot sauce bar, but it seems to be a cool concept. However, that's where everything ends. I didn't enjoy the food, it was really bland. I ordered a quesadilla, because can you really mess up a quesadilla? It was alright, I wasn't too thrilled that the sour cream, tomatoes, etc were inside. Usually things like that come on the side of a quesadilla, but I guess they have to try to find flavor somewhere. I'm a fairly harsh critic when it comes to Mexican food because I grew up in Southern California, but even Orlando has several places better than this. I will no be returning to Tijuana Flats, but if you like their food, the service here is fantastic.

Because I wasn't about to wait 2 hours for Rocco's tacos... We came here for taco Tuesday because I love tacos!! And I have a long history with the Tijuana in Tampa so it holds a special place in my heart. I was starving so I didn't even care what they put in front of me: hard blackened chicken tacos with the slap my ass sauce. I was through my first taco already before I realized my chicken was stone cold. Here's the weird thing though: I didn't care. Retrospectively, I much prefer my tacos hot but hey, it was the end of the night and probably the last of the chicken they'd made that night. It had great flavor, it was just cold. I'm willing to go back and give it another go... During the day though to give them a fair shot.

Tijuana Flats is an awesome place. Not only is the food delicious, but the employees and management are happy, helpful and appear to really enjoy their job. This is a really chill spot you swing by to grab a filling meal. I usually try the bangin chicken burrito (their sweet Thai chili sauce is AMAZING), but this visit I opted for the bangin tostada... Great choice. These are delicious just the way they come and still have the great bangin chicken on them. The queso and guacamole are excellent, but the salsa tastes like it comes from a can. Opt for something spicy from their awesome hot sauce bar where they have everything from flaming hot to mild and sweet!

Love the food and the diversity of the sauce bar! My personal favorite are the garlic hot sauce and sweet chili sauce, mahi tacos are awesome

This review has nothing to do with the food, everyone knows the food is bomb. The 5 stars has to do with the attitude and friendliness of the employees. Everyone was so nice! 5 stars for this location!

Great food. Great service. A little busy on a taco Tuesday but that's fine by me. Great and amazing servers.

Staff is great at this location and food is always spot on! One of my favorite Tijuana Flats to go into. Big store and great atmosphere. Probably one of the cleanest restaurants I've been to in all my years. Keep up the great work Tijuana Flats!

The food is pretty good. They hit you up pretty hard for tips which I'm not crazy about with quick service places. Not sure why they give chips with every order since they don't have a salsa bar... are you supposed to dip the chips in hot sauce or are the only useful if you buy salsa? It seems like a waste of chips for the most part. I like Moe's better, but I'd hit Tijuana Flats if it was around and I were hungry.

Excellent food at Tijuana Flats! The staff was super friendly and welcoming and explained all the menu items to us. We were thrilled to find that this place has a hot sauce bar complete with super hot and delicious choices. The waitress caught on that we love, love, love hot sauce and brought us a super hot sample from the kitchen that is too hot leave out on the sauce bar. It was fantastic! Food was super fresh and reasonably prices and we washed down our lunch with a couple of cold beers that were also reasonably priced. Will def be back again!

I went to this Tijuana Flats the other night with my work Teamies. It was pretty fun & totally vegan friendly. They were having computer issues, but they really went out of their way to make sure their customers were well taken care of. I was able to build my own burrito (I love burritos)--the beans are made with no lard (YAY for VEGAN), so I had burrito with both black beans AND refried beans. I didn't really try many of their millions of sauces, but I love having choices & I loved the overall atmosphere.

I'm never disappointed here. The food is consistently good. My orders have always been correct. The staff are always very polite and welcoming. Although not a true 'table service' restaurant, staff are always walking around to fill your drink or get you what you need. There's a DIY sauce bar with a wide variety from mild to extra hot. Personally I stick with the specialty sweet chili sauce. My only dislike is that when they bring out your food they tend to kinda shout out your order. Which is ok to make sure it's correct, but do all the other diners need to be hearing what I ordered? Bottom line - great place.

I like Tijuana Flats but I think there are just too many better options out there. I'd rather roll the dice on a hole in the wall joint than come here. I'm not a fan of their salsa and the chips are average at best. CUSTOMER SERVICE CORNER: It seems the staff and managers make it a point to frequently check on you and make sure your drink is full which is nice. INSIDER TIP: They make a rice bowl with your choice of meat and peppers and onions, it comes in one of those fried taco shell bowls you can eat. It's pretty good but you won't find it on the menu, you have to ask for it. FUN FACT: They have a plethora of hot sauces at their sauce bar which can keep things interesting

A chain that does not feel like a chain. Generous portions. Great tacos and enchiladas and you just have to love the hot sauce bar! I was introduced to Tijuana Flats by a friend and made sure to drive the family from Disney just to eat there while on vacation.

Solid Mexican and better than average chain. Tasty fresh tacos and decent portions at very good prices. Staff is great and always helpful. Come to NY please.

How shall I start. ..we were on vacation in Orlando and we wanted Mexican food so I go on yelp and find tijuana flats sorry this food is no tex-Mexican I don't know what it is but it not good at all. Services was great but the food was the worst Mexican food I have ever had. No bueno. Never again

This locations has very fast service and nice people. The staff try to make sure that you are well taken care of. Food is great for the price point it is listed at. Nice option for a quick meal. Love the sauce bar. It gives many options from mild to extremely hot. I've been here on multiple occasions and would recommend it to anyone.

Food is good and prepared quickly. I love the black bean salad and appreciate the power light option with low fat condiments. Not the greatest atmosphere for a sit-down dinner but perfect for take-out or a fast, casual dining option

In an area smothered with an endless amount of restaurants you might ask how I ended up at Tijuana Flats. I was in town for a convention and wanted to avoid crowds and enjoy a quick dinner without spending too much money. Having been to many Tijuana Flats across the state this year, I knew this location would be ideal for that, and it was. Quick service, good fast food style Mexican and inexpensive. If that's what your looking for, you can't go wrong here.

I really like this place! The food is good, the staff is friendly, and it's very clean! The manager is what makes this place what it is though. I can't remember his name, but he's brunette and in his 20's I would say... He's extremely friendly and has great customer service skills! I work in management, and it's great to see people that run an establishment the same way as I do! High five!

Taco Tuesdays are the best here. Such a great deal, and with the sweet chili sauce, it's the best deal for under $6. The tostadas are also great. So much food for the price :)

Tijuana Flats is one of those places.... your either going to get it.... or your not. I get it! I LOVE there Taco Tuesdays, and always order Dos Tacos with Steak. I love the crunch, the chips are awesome, and they have a great salsa bar if you get bored. Plus they crush the ice so the soda tastes better, IMHO.

The price was right for being on a budget but the food was not the best and the menu was limited. The staff was friendly and courteous and that made the experience worth it.

If it wasn't for the sauces bar, this place would easily be a 3 star. I love the staff, the decor, the sauces. The only thing not good is actually the meat they use! I've tried every kind and actually think the ground beef is the best, which isn't saying a whole lot. LOVE the fresh stuff like the jalapenoes. And go on Taco Tuesdays for 1. $4.99 two taco, chips, and drink deal. 2. Stand in a rediculously long line. I buy the smack my ass and call me sally sweet chilli sauce, and then make better tacos at home for months.

I was looking for a local burrito place in the Orlando area. I saw this place had good reviews, so I decided to give it a try. It was definitely worth the trip there. When I first walked in, I was greeted by someone from the staff who showed me how to order. The place is a mix of a sit-in/take out type of place. The menu is like a sit-in restaurant, but you still have to get up an order by the teller, but they bring the food to your table. I told the cashier it was my first time here, and he was very helpful. He gave me a complimentary bowl of tortilla chips with salsa and hot sauces he suggested. I ordered the norrito bowl with chicken, and the atom bombs. The atom bombs came out first and they were delicious. The sweet chili sauce it came with was a great compliment with the spiciness of the atom bomb. The norrito bowl is okay. The chicken was fine, but the rice and vegetables were okay. Maybe I'm just too used to Chipotle's cilantro-lime rice and fajitas veggies. However, what made this place stand out was the service. I never had such great service at a fast-casual restaurant. If you will be traveling to the Orlando area, you have to try one of these locations.

Great good, friendly service, cheap and free refills on soft drinks, chips and queso. What's not to love? :) a must stop in Florida, they give AZ Mexican places a run for their money.

Great time, everyone that works here is very nice the food is great and the atmosphere is awesome. The only thing is sometimes there's no place to sit because it gets so busy so make sure you go early if you're going on a Tuesday!

I have to say that I was disappointed with my visit to TF, mostly because of the food. The staff is absolutely wonderful and the service is almost always presented with a smile. Food wise, I had a burrito and it left a lot to be desired...within the tortilla. What I mean to say is I was very disappointed with the amount of ingredients in my burrito and broke off more bread than I probably ever have before, just to get to the "good stuff." The atmosphere is great, the people are kind and helpful...I just wasn't impressed with the food, especially for the price...which is kind of why I went in the first place. 2 stars.

I only had the nachos so that's all I'll review. I got two and brought them back to the hotel. If there was six pieces of meat it was a lot. Don't pay extra for meat, not worth it. Salsa bar is nice, but I would have liked to see more fresh salsa than all the processed stuff. Would not go back.

Just OPENED on restaurant row in Dr. Phillips! Went here for the traditional Taco Tuesday. New layout is nice. Pretty spaced out and even has an outdoor patio. Obviously the newer workers were being trained so things were a little slow but within a week's time I'm sure they'll be up and running at full speed. Food was good. Orders were correct. All the favorite hot sauces available. Tuesday - Taco Tuesdaze - 2 Tacos, chips, and a drink for $4.99

I really enjoyed my visit to Tijuana Flats, even though I was worried the food might be a little heavy. I'm currently trying to eat more healthy, so wanted something light. The fish tacos with wheat tortillas was a great option! It comes grilled and is very delicious. The staff were very friendly and outdoor seating nice on a cool day. The only thing they could improve upon are those tiny hot sauce cups. They are the size of a thimble! I'm a big sauce person, so it was tricky trying to carry 5 of those little things at once :)

Really enjoyed my visit here. The food is a bit above average, and the price is decent. They have an extensive selection of sauces, which is what really sets this place apart. Also, the staff is really friendly.

I was very happy to see Tijuana Flats join the Tex-Mex competition on SLR and stopped in for lunch yesterday. The space is large and clean and the staff is eager to help, even if they are still learning. My companion and I started with chips and salsa. We very quickly received a huge platter of tortilla chips with a thick and flavorful salsa. Clearly, Tijuana Flats wins the SLR chips y salsa war. I ordered fish tacos, a new menu item, and added rice and beans. The taco, made with a wheat taco as I requested was well filled with fish, cabbage and citrus vinaigrette. The cabbage and vinaigrette would have made for a great contrast to the fis but the fish, ubfortunately, was a bit too fishy. I am giving TF a free pass this time, but I hope for fresher fish next time. My companion ordered a beef quesadilla and found it to be overstuffed (in a good way) with meat and cheese. He thoroughly enjoyed it. I will visit again in time, but when this TF gets into it's Groove, I expect it will enjoy great success.

Crazy busy TF location -- at least on a Tuesday night (when they offer a 2-taco special). It's about twice as big as the one I regularly visit, but the staff kept up admirably. In fact, their pace was even more impressive when I noticed the number of people taking food to go -- they were probably serving half again as many people as were seated. I went for chicken soft tacos. These aren't your usual small tacos -- easily double the size of what I envision when I say "taco" -- and so two plus chips is more than enough for me. Glad to see TF in the area; I'm sure I'll be back.

The is the way it's supposed to be! Great job, Tijuana Flats. Even on their busiest days, Taco Tuesday for example, they are always on point. Low wait times, friendly and fast service and quality food. Not much too say when it's done the right way! KEEP UP THE GREAT WORK!

Met some friends at the Orange Ave location and had a much better experience. Everyone was very nice and I got more than 5 chips with my burrito. Hooray! I figured out you have to order a large side of salsa if you want a decent amount and they accidentally brought me out two sides. I was swimming in salsa. Unfortunately, it wasn't that good. I know, TF is all about the hot sauce... At least, I would actually go back to this location and that's progress. Good service from nice people can elevate so-so food. We shall see...

Mexican Cuisine

If you enjoy Taco Tuesday, then you have officially fallen in love with the Mexican Food. The main grain of Mexican cuisine is maize. Also known as corn, maize is grown for the past 9000 years after the crop was discovered by the people in Mayan civilization. Mexican empire flourished when they started growing beans, tomatoes, chili pepper, sweet potato and cactus. Till this date these ingredients are used in cooking authentic Mexican dishes and drinks.

Great use of spices, fresh chili pepper dishes like fajitas, tortilla chips, corn chips, salsa, chimichangas, burritos, nachos and quesadillas are invented in America. But when you are looking for authentic Mexican food then you must find a restaurant in the city that serves Rajas con Queso, Garbanzo in a Guajillo Chile Sauce, Pork Filled Chiles Rellenos, Chiles en Nogada, Molcajete Salsa, Pico de Gallo and Frijoles de la Olla. An eye-opening fact – Mexican don't like their food hot. They use fresh chili and other spices to create a flavor that lingers in your mouth.

Mexican food is great for those who are Gluten Intolerant as they use Corn instead of wheat in most of their dishes. Also, you can easily find many beans based Mexican dishes. Another dish which didn't get similar glory as tacos or nachos is the Mexican hot chocolate. If you love something hot on a chilly day, then go for Mexican Hot Chocolate. On merry days, you can enjoy the authentic Mexican Drinks like Tequila, Mezcal, Tecuí, Sotol, Bacanora, Charanda, Posh O Pox, Puebla and Pulque. Mexican Cuisine is for people who enjoy strong drinks and hearty meals.
